As ya'lls has heard from reading Ceel's last diary entry, I was 'ttacked the other day! I for once are innocents! As you all knows, Ceel was found guilty & was punished for having 'ssaulted me! Anywho, upon further investigations, Mommy has come to the conclusion that she may have had some fault in this matters. Bad Mommy! She should know betters! I's 'greed to let her plead her case on my diary. I's 'spect that treat you's promised me later Mommy!
*EBBY MOMMY PLEADS HER CASE*
The above incident happened so suddenly & unexpectedly. The good thing is that it was over just as quick as it happened. I disciplined Ceeley only because she was the aggressor and I will not tolerate any kind of attacks where teeth are involved! As I thought more about what happened, I think I may undeliberately contributed to the problem. You see, both my little gremlins have always eaten side by side with no problems. They both have their little bowls next to each other on their mat. The only thing that separates them is the water bowl between them. Ceeley eats out of a brown bowl which is placed on the left side of the water bowl. Ebony eats out of a white bowl placed on the right side. It's a routine I started without even realizing it. Well now that I think about it, the other day I picked up Ceeley's brown bowl & put some kibble in it & set it on the left and said, "Here you go Ebby." I do seem to remember Ebby did hesitate slightly and that's when I said, "Go ahead honey, eat your kibble." I turned my back to get some for Ceeley when all hell broke loose! I can just imagine the conversation that musta gone on between them:
CEELEY: Oh goody! It are chow times! Hey! Why Auntie giving way
EBBY: HuH? What Mommy? You means I's can has Ceel's food?!
Okay, you's boss! (Ebby starts to eat.)
CEELEY: THAT'S MY FOOD!!!!! GIVE IT BACK EBBERS!!! (Ceeley is
steps forward & begins to growl.)
EBBY: Back off Ceel! Mommy gave me 'pawmission' to eat it!
(Ebby hovers over the bowl, refusing to give it up.)
Mommy said I's could have it!
CEELEY: IT ARE MINE!!!! GRRRRRR!!! (Ceeley is beside herself.
she moves in and head butts Ebby in the eye.)
EBBY: OUCH!!! (*whimper*) Stop it!!! (She starts backing away.)
And that's how it went down. Now I know better. I guess fur-moms make mistakes sometimes.
Oh! Dear me! Yes that truly could have happened...sometimes routines get so routine that mistakes happen. Your sweet pups will furgive you and furget all about it...at least I do hope so.
(I am the only doggie here, but when I am at my auntie's house, and in the presence of Murphy, we never eat together, let alone in the same room...since we, being naughty terrierists, have always had food issues, even when we were less than 2 months old! OMD! So we don't even try to see if we have gotten over that. I eat in growlmy's bedroom over there, and Murphy eats in the kitchen. If he vists me, Murphy eats in the kitchen here, and I eat in the dining room where my bowl always stands...)
Aw it's ok Mrs. Ebby and Ceeley. We all make mistakes. As long as you all love each other it's all good!!
I bet your momma won't make that mistake again. We're glad you were both okay and able to kiss and make up.
Coco Rose - P.S., Puffy and I also made up.
Glad you both are OK. Sophie Claire and I eat a little way apart from each other and mom stands there until we finish our food. Cause Sophie gobbles her food down and then she tries to get mine. She is a little pig!
These things happen... and they dont bear grudges.
What really IS important is you have a solid answer.
You had to be wondering (as we all would) WHY that happened. Second guessing... hoping it wasnt the start of troubles... it was concerning.
But NOW.. you have a simple answer. A solid cause.
THAT has to help alot to dispell the worries !
just a small mistake and we are sure that it won't happen again, all is good now!
Think your analysis is right on! Hey, we all make mistakes. Quite impressive you were able to step back and see your part in it.
You do not have rude resource guarders, you have smart pups respectful of each other and their routine!
It happens, but bet your mommy definitely won't make that mistake again!
Grandma's doggies all have separate bowls downstairs and two of them are food aggressive. Well poor Kohae doesn't like his blue and white striped bowl he would rather starve then eat out of it so Grandma had to go and get a pink bowl so he could eat and that just confused the girls and so Mommy and Grandma had to show them they all have pink bowls now and it's okay.
The point is that sounds very possible. We furkids can tell what bowl is ours. That is probably why Mommy makes Missy and I share a bowl.
Whitley and I trade bowls when she is here-- but we are separated by about 3 feet... plus both bowls are put down at the same time.
Now that your Momma figured it out, it won't happen again..
