When people don't seem to love me or pay attention to me as I think they should. We pass random people on walkies or the pet store or anywhere, I whine and howl at them if they don't come see me.
Favorite Toy:
I didn't know what to do with toys at first. Now that I've settled in some, I love any and all toys. I like my special bones with rawhide rings attached. At any given time I can have 10+ toys out of my toybox. I get bored with them easily. Change 'em up!
Favorite Food:
I love my Natural Balance kibble but alsoPB and any food.
Favorite Walk:
Anywhere! I love walking in our neighborhood by my friend Lucy's house. I whine and look for her and hope she's there to play with.
Best Tricks:
No tricks yet, unless you include sticking my head on the couch and butting until someone pays me some attention. Or...hiding socks...yeah, that's it, hiding socks!
Arrival Story:
Adoption day 7/11/09--not sure when her birthday is. I lost 2 of my beloved dogs, Mamie and Violet, within one week of each other. A week later, Gwen, the remaining dog, was depressed and I began searching, after promising myself I'd wait at least 2 months. Gretchen was listed on the Atlanta Pet Rescue site and seemed perfect for our pack...I thought if I didn't act she'd be scooped up by someone else. I saw her on Thursday, applied on-line on Friday, and Gwen and I were in line at opening time on Saturday for an interview. We all rode home together!
Bio:
She's an Airedale/terrier mix. Was scheduled to be euthanized in an exurban county shelter and was pulled by APR. She'd only been with them a week. She's very sweet and gentle, already gives kisses and appears to be housetrained. She's quite skinny and has a bent tail where it had been broken, but seems very healthy. I haven't had a young dog in many years! She's 8 months.***
9 month update: Miss Gretchen is now showing her Airedale heritage. Chewing, destuffing, being stubborn (but cute) and a bit bossy are her trademarks. I love her all the same.

Wow, my new friend, Maebe tagged me. I’m new at this, but I love to play chase so this is a perfect thing for me. It would only be better if you could put peanut butter on it.
Maebe says I have to answer some questions and then play tag with six of my buds. I’m putting my thinking cap, er, collar on and am ready to answer.
1. What color is your collar?
I’ve got a mosaic thing going on…black background with purple, green, orange and really fun colors. I had it on at the shelter but it’s very stylish and suits me. I think I’ll keep it.
2. What kind of food do you eat?
Natural Balance Salmon and Rice—allergy formula. It’s tasty. And I have itchy skin, so this is supposed to help. All that matters is that I get some twice a day.
3. What are your favorite treats?
What’s not to love about treats? Let’s see, so many treats, so little time. Yogurt treats, sweet taters, chicken jerky. Do you have any more suggestions?
4. Do you have a Valentine or significant other?
I’m a bit young to date right now. I’ll let you know when Mom says its’ OK.
5. Do you get table scraps?
I’m not supposed to, but I did get some rice and a morsel of chicken the other night. I’m hoping that will become a regular thing.
6. What is your favorite toy?
I get bored with toys and have to swith ‘em up. My favorite one day isn’t necessarily my favorite the next day. So far I seem most loyal to my blue stuffed sheepie. It makes a cool noise. It’s even more cool when I can squeeze it at 3 AM and wake Mom and Gwen up.
7. When is your birthday?
I was born sometime around November 2008. Mom chooses to make my barkday November 9, as that was the day she found Violet (may she rest in peace).
8. How many times a day do you eat?
Two.
9. Do you have a favorite color?
Since my fur is earth tones: brown, black and some silver/white, I can wear most anything. I like the color of FOOD.
10. Do you hope all your pals put this in their diary?
Yes, yes. By the way, this is my first diary entry.
