Gotcha Date: July 11th 2009 Birthday: November 9th 2008 Likes: Being next to my Mama. Pet-Peeves: When people don't seem to love me or pay attention to me as I think they should. We pass random people on walkies or the pet store or anywhere, I whine and howl at them if they don't come see me. Favorite Toy: I didn't know what to do with toys at first. Now that I've settled in some, I love any and all toys. I like my special bones with rawhide rings attached. At any given time I can have 10+ toys out of my toybox. I get bored with them easily. Change 'em up! Favorite Food: I have food allergies. I am on super expensive RX Royal Canin canned rabbit and potato diet. After 12 weeks of cleansing I am adding things back in and seeing how I react. I am allergic to dried allergy food and rice so far. I love sweet potatoes~ Favorite Walk: Anywhere! I love walking in our neighborhood by my friend Lucy's house. I whine and look for her and hope she's there to play with. Best Tricks: Shake is all that I know now. Unless you count being bossy as a trick. Arrival Story: Adoption day 7/11/09--not sure when her birthday is. I lost 2 of my beloved dogs, Mamie and Violet, within one week of each other. A week later, Gwen, the remaining dog, was depressed and I began searching, after promising myself I'd wait at least 2 months. Gretchen was listed on the Atlanta Pet Rescue site and seemed perfect for our pack...I thought if I didn't act she'd be scooped up by someone else. I saw her on Thursday, applied on-line on Friday, and Gwen and I were in line at opening time on Saturday for an interview. We all rode home together! Bio: She's an Airedale/terrier mix. Was scheduled to be euthanized in an exurban county shelter and was pulled by APR. She'd only been with them a week. She's very sweet and gentle, already gives kisses and appears to be housetrained. She's quite skinny and has a bent tail where it had been broken, but seems very healthy. I haven't had a young dog in many years! She's 8 months.***
9 month update: Miss Gretchen is now showing her Airedale heritage. Chewing, destuffing, being stubborn (but cute) and a bit bossy are her trademarks. I love her all the same. Forums Motto: I chew, therefore I am. The Groups I'm In: Dyson Dogster/Catster, Squeaky & Fuzzy The Last Forum I Posted In: Amount of canned food to feed 40 lb airedale mix? Favorite non food snacks: MMM. That would be wood blinds, wooden window sills, lamp cords, books and magazines and shoes.
Most hated command: "Place." Mom makes me go to my place and I have to stay there at least 30 minutes. I can't move my paws off of the mat. Man, I hate that.
Today is my second Gotcha Day! Just two years ago mom and Gwen drove over to Atlanta Pet Rescue to meet me and then I came home with them. Mamie and Vi both went to the bridge in the same week and although she said she was going to wait a couple of months for another fur she caved. Yep, I'm that cute and irresistible.
So, at my forever home, I had lots of household items to chew on and destroy (windowsills, remotes, boom boxes, rugs and shoes). And a yard in which to dig lots of holes. I'm better now about the chewing thing...but worse about the digging thing. I'm a Terrier for goodness sake...that's my JOB!
So, I have a great life and a great home and a great big sis (who is actually half my size...that doesn't quite make sense). Oh happy day!!!!!!
Yesterday, 7/11/2010 was my first Gotcha Day anniversary! Whoo hoo! I was adopted from Atlanta Pet Rescue at 8 months old. I now have a forever home, a mom and a great big sister,Gwen (well, she's my big sister but she's smaller than I am.Go figure).
Anyway, Mom buyed me a bunch of Gotcha Day presents! Here is what she buyed me, along with my reviews:
--Spa day at Wagalot Daycare--Four paws up!(www.wagalot.com)
--Spa day includes a bath--Two paws down.
--Bruster's ice cream--Four paws up.
--Squeaky toy (with four different types of sounds)--Four paws up and a tail.
--Furminator brush--FOUR PAWS DOWN.
Overall though I came up in the pawsitive numbers. Oh yeah, I forgot that I got to lick the yogurt container.
I love spring! However, I can't decide whether or not to go outside with Gwennie, or stay on the porch with Mom. Soooo....I'm standing *inside* the doggie door with my head and front paws on the outside, and back legs on the porch. A nice compromise, I believe.
