Arrival Story:
My wife and I lost our previous dog (Lacey, Cocker Spaniel) to cancer in the early spring of 2008. With our children all gone now, it made the house very lonely when we weren't both home. I kept after the wife to get another dog but she just kept saying no. I got an eMail about an elderly man that had lost his wife and was very mean to everyone afterwards. He was living with his daughter and she was at her wits end. She went to the Animal Shelter and found this rather old and gentle dog. She adopted him in hopes that her father would make friends with him. Long story short, the dog and the elderly man made good friends and it changed the mans personality. Anyway, I think that was what changed my wifes mind about getting another dog. So in December of 2008 my daughter asked me if I would driver out to a near by town to pick up a Christmas present for her husband. She said she needed some help with it. When we got there she asked me to wait in the car. She came out with a 7 week old puppy. I said to my wife as my daughter was approaching the car that I was jealous that Matt gets a puppy and I don't. My daughter walked up to my window which was open and handed me the puppy and said Merry Christmas Dad. Except for the birth of Christ, it was the very best Christmas Present I have ever received

We were told he was a Shepherd/Lab mix when we got him but he sure didn't look like a Shepherd. As he was growing we were trying to figure out what he was. At about two and a half months old he was looking exactly like the Rotweiler Puppies on the internet right down to the tan horizontal stripe on his front between his shoulders. Then one day a family friend stoped by for a visit. She looked at Otis and asked what mix he was besides Bassett Hound. My wife went to the internet and started searching for Bassett Hound/Lab mix and it all came together. There is no doubt that he is a Bassador, right down to the webbed feet.
