Target's Best in Show Line Brings Us Affordable Dog-Themed Home Accents

Because every home needs a French Bulldog lamp, Poodle pillow or multi-breed throw, yes?

If you're anything like me and like sneaking dogs into your decor in a minimalist manner, you'll know it takes a good deal of rummaging -- at antique fairs, or the Internet's less-traveled corners -- to find something that isn't tacky. So I'm always thrilled when the mainstream marketplace decides to throw me a bone.

Last night, I was picking up some new potholders at Target when I passed by a display that stopped me in my tracks. My brother, who was with me, can attest to this, and he was nice enough to hold the various objects up so I could snap some photos.

How plush is this Poodle throw pillow?

Target's "Best in Show" collection is whimsical yet tasteful, and the already-reasonable prices are marked down further if you go online. This poofy Poodle accent pillow (which is a delight to pet, by the way, if you're into petting your pillows), for instance, drops from $16.99 in store to $13.49 on the website.

Our new favorite picnic blanket.

One of my favorite pieces in the lineup is this throw, which comes in gray or red ($19.99 online, $24.99 in store). I love the black leather travel harness, which transforms it into the perfect totable picnic blanket.

Here's what it looks like opened up (see if you can name all the breeds featured):

Here's what the throw looks like unrolled.

The collection also contains several shadow boxes with the silhouettes of various breeds ($11.99 online, $14.99 in store):

Darling dog-themed frames feature several breeds.

And there's something for Boston Terrier fans (paging GiGi's mom!) at the $13.99 pricepoint online:

The Boston Terrier pillow - can anyone guess what book is printed in the background?

I didn't run into the items pictured below at the Colma store I visited, but maybe you'll find them at your local Target. I particularly love the "toys" bin, which is unfortunately no longer available online. If you're digging the French Bulldog lamp or the Scottie bookends, you can find them here.

More cuteness from Target's website.

Dogster readers, which "Best in Show" piece is your favorite?
