Patsy barked in this question about the wheat gluten in a Natural Balance product. She wants to know why it has NOT been recalled if it has wheat gluten.

Patsy, I have not spoken with the Natural Balance company so I cannot give you the definitive answer. My guess is that they have decided that their source of wheat gluten is safe and/or the products are made in a factory that has not been identified as processing tainted products. Either case means there is no need to recall the bones.

As for me and my pack, I am avoiding all wheat gluten in anything. I’ve even given up my beloved bagels because most are made with wheat gluten. Until the food companies start certifying that they have only all North American or European ingredients, I’m not touching anything that could have wheat gluten or other ingredients from China.

Now I find out that my absolute fovorite drinks, Talking Rain Ice, are made with vitamin C imported from China. I may have to pass on those too given the abysmal contamination history in ALL Chinese food products and supplements! Considering that news is out that the Chinese have a cartel to control vitamin C production, the pack and I may still be getting Chinese products and not know it.

Natural Balance’s Crunchy-bones dog treats contain wheat gluten so why have they not recalled them? can you ask them. i called and asked and the next day they recalled more products but still no answer about the wheat gluten in the crunchy-bones. i emailed them today and i guess they will never respond because they have a blog on their website that they are getting so many questions so they put up a page but it does not answer that question.
