A raw food diet is a great diet for a dog, with a couple of caveats. First, you absolutely must do a great deal of research before you consider raw feeding to make sure that it is balanced and that you are supplementing properly. There are a lot of great websites to get started. Second, you need to ensure that your dog is not sensitive to any of your primary meal ingredients. If your dog doesn’t do well with chicken that cuts out a great staple of the diet, for example. Third, in order for it to be affordable, you must have adequate space to store the raw ingredients. When I raw fed, I broke the ingredients down into daily meals, Ziploc’d them and put them in the freezer. Fourth, follow all safe food handling guidelines! You must clean surfaces, bowls, etc. after preparing meals or feeding.
