I have a new kitty sister! I am so excited! She is really interesting, too, not like my previous kitty siblings. For one thing, she is very young - younger than me - and so she's not sleeping or being sick all the time. She just fascinates me. I know I invade her space too much - she has let me know very well when I've crossed the line - but I just can't seem to help myself. I want to sniff her all over and giver her kisses. I just can't seem to be still when I see her. She's SO pretty, too.

She and Molly get along pretty good - Molly likes her, but is not obsessed with her like I am. There, I admit it. I am obsessed!

Maybe after she's been around a while, I will calm down, but right now she is more fascinating than all my squeaky toys and tennis balls combined.

Mom had to send the last member of our feline family to the Rainbow Bridge a few weeks ago. She was pretty upset. Lynx had a mass in her stomach, which the vet said was probably cancer.

So now, it's just me and Molly.

Mom has had to send all 3 of my Kitty sisters to the Rainbow Bridge in the last 6 months. She is so upset about all of it, she took down their Catster profiles because it depressed her too much to know they are no longer with us and there will be no more stories to tell about them.

They will always be in our hearts, though. Always loved and never forgotten.

Since grandma is moving in with us, mom is not going to have any more kitties for a while, which makes her sad because she loves them so much. She says when the Lord decides the time is right for her to have another kitty, He will get them together - just like He did with us.

I don't know if I mentioned it, or not, but my grandma is coming to live with us this summer. Mom and dad have really been working hard to clean out closets and cabinets to make room for grandma's stuff. It sure must be a lot because mom is getting rid of a lot.

It sure will be different having grandma live with us. Personally, I'm looking forward to it. It will be nice to have some company during the day. I know I have Molly, but we don't have the same interests and we mostly just sleep a lot on our bed. However, this summer we will probably be outside a lot - barking at the birds and such. But if grandma's there, maybe we won't be outside all day long! That would be really cool.

Mom and dad try to make sure we're comfortable, no matter whether we're outside or inside, but it all gets real old after a while.

I bet Lynx will be glad too, because grandma really likes her a lot and will be giving her a lot of attention, too.

For now, though, mom and dad are really working hard to get everything ready. I know they - especially mom - are kind of tired right now. Hopefully they can get this all done soon and then rest up so they can play with me more.

Mom is kind of sad today. Waldo is no longer part of our family. Mom was fostering him until he could be adopted, but me and Waldo just didn't get along. Also, my human grandma is going to be moving in with us and it was all too much stress for mom - getting ready for grandma and taking care of a sick pup. She feels really bad about it, but knows he is in good hands with the Humane Society of West Texas.

Although I'm glad that it's just me and Molly again, it kind of feels weird without him around. Even though we didn't get along, I hope he gets well and finds his forever family real soon.

I'm still getting used to the idea, but I'm not as against having a new brother as I was yesterday. We actually all slept together last night in our little corner.

Mom and dad took him to the Humane Society clinic last night. Turns out he's a pretty sick pup. He has heart worms and erlichia. He also has a bad tooth that needs to be pulled. Mom's going to take him to our vet on Saturday. If anyone can make him all better, they can. They are the best.

Mom and dad got a new aquarium! Mom had a pond for a long time in the front yard, but she was tired of maintaining it, especially in the winter. Mom hates cold weather. Besides, there were a bunch of school kids that were always messing with it when they got off the bus in the afternoon.

The aquarium is kind of cool. It's real relaxing watching the fish swim and hearing the soft hum of the pumps. Mom had to get 2 because she has gold fish and they are really messy. I also like the way the fish food smells. I wish mom would let me have a taste, but she won't.

Pretty soon it will be time to decorate the house for Christmas. I like that, too. Lots and lots of goodies to eat!

Mom and dad have finally finished working in the front yard. I have to say it does look really good. They can now relax and not work so much, which means more play time for me!

Next summer they are going to be busy in the back yard to start making it look all pretty, too. I'll be really glad when they get everything done. Mostly because they will be able to spend more time with me and Molly, but also because we stay in the back yard so much during the summer that it will be nice to have some new and interesting things to look at and sniff. Mom better be careful about any plants she puts back there, though. I am a boy, after all, and you know what that means when I have to do my business. lol

I heard dad say they might put in some grass!! That would be so great. I don't think mom's too keen on the idea - mostly because it's kind of expensive to keep grass looking good. But, I think she's going to give in to dad and agree to put some in. I can hardly wait!

I know there will be some new trees - something called Chitalpa. They are supposed to be real drought and heat resistant. Mom and dad likes that. I also heard them say something about using recycled tires as flower beds. I'm not sure about that one - guess we'll just have to wait until next summer to see what they mean by that.

Any way, I hope you all have a great summer (what's left of it) and a great Labor Day weekend.

WOW!!! Have I got the best mom in the world, or what? She got me some new squeaky toys and it isn't even Christmas or my birthday!

I can't figure out why she did it, but I am really glad she did. I had pretty much succeeded in the total destruction of "monkey".

"Elephant" was still pretty much in tact, but his squeaker didn't work any more and he was just no longer fun to play with.

"Monkey" didn't have his squeaker, either, but he had lots of long legs and a tail that was really fun to chew off and shake around. I guess mom decided I needed a new one after I finally tore him open and pulled all the stuffing out. But to get 2, is so great!

This time I got a "gator" and a "bunny rabbit. They are so cool. Long legs to chew on both and bunny rabbit has long ears, too!

On top of all that she bought me a big bag of Quack Quacks (that's what we call dried duck and/or chicken tenders). The only down side about that is that I have to share with Molly.

I guess that's ok, though. She doesn't bother my toys, so I guess I can be generous and let her have some of the yummies.

I tell you, I am just one happy pup right now. I'm going to say goodbye so I can go tear up gator. Then it will be bunny rabbit's turn. It won't be long and mom will have to get out her needle and perform surgery. Whooo Hoooo1

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been a while since my last entry, but mom and dad have been really busy this summer. First of all, one of my human sisters got married in May and my other human sister is getting married this coming Saturday! Plus, mom and dad have really been working hard in the front yard getting it pretty again after the drought we had. It's really looking good, too.

Other than that, life is pretty much the same for us animals in the house. Molly and I go outside during the day while mom and dad are at work and then we come inside when they get home. Actually we've been going in and out a lot because we hate being inside by ourselves while mom and dad are not in the house. We would much rather be outside barking at the birds, the dogs, etc...

Mom and dad took a trip last month and we were by ourselves for 3 whole days! We were really sad. Mom's friend came over to give us our food and water and play with us, but it just wasn't the same. We sure did miss them and were so glad when they came back home.

Guess that's all for now. I don't know when my next entry will be - like I said - mom and dad are really busy.

Howdy everyone. Sorry I haven't written anything for a while, but there's been a lot going on for the past several months. First of all, and the most important thing, my human sister - Erin - got married a couple of weeks ago. I didn't get to go, which was not fair, but mom and dad went - of course. I know it was a lot of fun because mom and dad were really happy when they got back.

Also, mom has not been feeling well - her neck and shoulders were hurting her real bad and she didn't feel like typing much. She's also been trying to work on some new blankets for some human friends who live up north. It's been slow going for her because of her neck and shoulders. The good news is that she seems to be a lot better and now can be more active on my diary.

Anyway, the weather has been really great! Not at all like last year. There have been hot days, but cool ones, too. We've also gotten some good rain! YAY!!!

Molly and I got a new sleeping pillow. The one that Molly had when she came to live with us kind of got destroyed in the dryer.

Our new pillow is really huge!!! We can both fit on it, but we still have my old pillow, which is still good. So, we have a lot of sleeping room.

Mom and dad are going on a little trip next week and someone else will be taking care of us for a few days. I will sure miss them them when they are gone. I hope they bring me and Molly back some goodies.

Next month is also going to be busy because my other human sister, Deidra is also getting married. Mom and dad are really excited!

Guess I'll say bye for now.

I love my new elephant squeaky toy. I love to chew it and squeak it and chase it. I really love it when mom or dad throws it up in the air and I can catch it!

Mom will tell me to "tear it up" when I'm playing with it, which I take quite seriously. I shake it and shake it! Then I chew it and chew it!

Today I managed to chew through to the stuffing. Wow, was it ever fun to pull it out and spread it out everywhere.

Mom spoiled my fun, though, and put all the stuffing back and performed "surgery", as she puts it.

Now It's good as new for me to "tear it up" all over again. :)

Wow, what a fun day I've had today! The only yucky thing was going to the vet to get mine and Molly's annual shots, but the rest of the day was fun, fun fun!

After the vet (ugh), we went to Petsmart and I got a brand new squeaky chew toy. It's an elephant! We also got some more Teenie Greenies. Molly and I really like those.

Then we went to the big park with the lake and got to "duck watch". I really wanted to chase them, but dad had too good of a hold on the leash. (darn)

There were all sorts of new smells, too. Molly and I sniffed and sniffed. It was great!

After the park, mom took us to a drive through. Mom and dad got sodas, but me and Molly got some yummy ice water. Boy, was it sure good because it was really hot today.

By the time we got home it was time for a good rest.

What a great day! :)

Hello everyone. Sorry it's been a while since I wrote, but a lot has been going on.

My grandma had something called a heart attack last week. My mom was really worried. I know it wasn't a good thing because mom was crying and really scared.

Grandma is at home now, but I think mom is still worried about her. She calls her all the time to make sure she is ok. While grandma was in the people hospital, mom and dad weren't home much because they were always checking on her. They, especially mom, was really, really tired. When they did get home it was always dark.

Molly and I were so glad to see them, first, because we really needed to do our business, but mostly because we missed them.

Please keep my grandma in your prayers. Mom says she is doing better, but she is still weak.

Thank you so much.

Mom gets something called "massage therapy" which helps her a lot, but it doesn't last. I heard mom say the other day that she's going to see a chiropractor next week. I don't know what that is, but I sure hope this chiropractor thingy/person will be able to help her. She's just no fun when she hurts all the time.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. It's that time of the year again where there I get to sample a lot of yummy treats that I don't normally get to eat.

This morning mom made something called Kroppkaka (Swedish dumplings). Yum, yum, yum.

Mom's never made these before, but I hope she makes them again.

They are these potato "cookies" filled with onions, sausage and bacon. Mom makes them ahead of time then slices them up and fries them in butter.

Sheer heaven.

Keep those goodies coming, mom. Can't wait to see what's next!

It wasn't me this time, it was Molly. And she almost pulled it off.

There is a small opening that leads from the back yard into the garage. Molly is just small enough to get through, which she did this morning.

Dad raised the garage door so he and mom could get in the car to go to work. Molly was out in a shot!

I couldn't see her, but I sure heard her - and mom desperately calling her. Molly wasn't obeying, that's for certain.

Then I heard mom yell, "you want a Teenie Greenie?"
(my mom is mighty tricky - hehehehe).

It wasn't long before Molly was in the back yard again and the hole was plugged up...and NO TEENIE GREENIE to show for it!

I tried sleeping in Molly's bed and I REALLY like it. It just feels more comfy and secure than my big pillow. It's also a lot warmer.

I don't think Molly is too crazy about sharing her bed with me but, so far, she has seemed to accept it. I really don't like sleeping with her, either, but since it's her bed, I guess it wouldn't be very nice to "boot" her out.

I really like my big pillow, but it's starting to get colder and I am just not as warm on my pillow as I am in Molly's bed. I wish I had a bed like it, only bigger - because I'm bigger.

Maybe mom will take the hint and get me one. Keep your paws crossed.

It seems that Molly isn't so bad after all. She is very smart and is learning the rules of the house very quickly. Mom and I play ball and she doesn't interfere. Actually she's not a bit interested in my ball, which I am very glad of. She and I stayed outside today while mom and dad went to church. We got a long pretty good. I don't think she likes being outside much - probably isn't used to it. But she will soon learn that being outside can be quite fun. Especially when those dumb birds land in our yard and on the patio. Then I'll show her what "chase" is really all about. tee hee

We took a nap with mom in her recliner this afternoon. Daisy Mae actually joined us! Even Lexi came out of hiding to check us all out! WOW! Mom was really happy about everything and asked dad to get a photo of us all together. (you can see it in my photo book.) I think this will be the beginning of a great relationship! Finally, a dog sister that knows her place! :)

I don't know which I hate more. Getting a bath or going to the vet.

Mom thought I smelled bad, but I thought I smelled just fine - in fact, I think I smelled real interesting. I don't understand why mom was so objectionable to the way I smelled. I thought the roll I took in my poop really was just the right touch. Mom, however, didn't think so.

I was whisked right into that tub - no hesitation

The only good thing about my bath was that I was really itchy before and I wasn't after. Mom uses some kind of oatmeal stuff and it really does stop the itch. But then, I got really cold after my bath. Mom took pity on me and covered me up with my warm, comfy blankie. Then she snuggled with me and rubbed my tummy. I really enjoyed that.

After I got all dry, mom played ball with me. I ALWAYS enjoy that. :)

I suppose I shouldn't roll in poop, but I just can't seem to help myself. It is so fun. Maybe someday mom will just resign herself to it and will stop giving me baths. Or, maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

I MAY be getting a new sister this weekend - and NOT another cat! She's a rattie, just like me and also about my age. She's also a rescued pup, only she was rescued from the pound. Her name is Molly and we are going to meet each other this Saturday. Her mom is moving and the new place will only let her have 1 pup and she has 2. If we are Molly's new family, she won't have anything to worry about. My mom will spoil her rotten, just like she does me.

I usually haven't liked the other dogs that mom has brought home, but they were all so much bigger than me and made me real nervous. But, since Molly and I are so much alike (except for her being a girl) mom is hoping we will get along well. I think I will probably be ok. My grandma's neighbor has a Rattie that lives next door to her and I like her a lot.

I know mom is really hoping that everything turns out ok. She knows I get lonely during the day and since the cats won't play with me, Molly might be good company for me. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

The first day they did it I thought it was a mistake and they just forgot about me. But they have been doing it all week, so I figured out pretty quick that it was on purpose.

I suppose it's not so bad. I was just used to being inside all summer. It had been too hot to let me out. It WAS kind of boring.

At least outside I can chase and bark at the birds and anything that goes down the alley. I also can bark at my next door neighbor (the dog).

We FINALLY got some rain last night. Mom was so happy about it, but I sure wasn't, because with the rain came a whole lot of thunder and lightening.

I don't understand why it has to make so much noise and be so loud for us to have rain. It is so scary. I was literally having a panic attack. I hadn't heard thunder in 1 whole year and had forgotten how bad it was.

I was really shaking, pacing the floor and panting hard. I wanted it to stop, but it just wouldn't. Mom was really worried about me. She tried to hold me and sing softly to me, but it just didn't help.

At one point there was a real loud CRACK and all of our electricity went out. That was REALLY scary.

I was so glad when it all stopped. I know we really need the rain, but I sure hope we don't get any more of that thunder and lightening. I don't think my nerves can take it. :(

Well, I've done it again. I've saved another member of my family from harm. This time it was my cat sister, Lynx.

She has a bad habit of sneaking out of the house when the door is open (she's really quick). We figure she snuck out on Monday morning because mom didn't remember seeing her Monday evening or Tuesday morning, either. Usually Lynx likes to go into the bathroom with mom when she takes her bath, but she didn't on Tuesday.

So, on Tuesday evening when mom and dad came home and let me out to do my business, I saw her go into the storage building. I took off after her - guess I kind of scared her because then she hid in the wood pile.

I started running back and forth to the door and the storage building, hoping mom would notice. Thankfully, she did. At first, mom thought I saw a stray cat or even a possum - 'cause possums like to hide in wood piles. But after a little bit, mom realized it was Lynx.

She picked her up and started carrying her into the house. I kind of nipped at her tail, which I guess wasn't very nice, but I thought she needed some kind of "punishment". Mom didn't think so, I got into trouble for it.

I don't care, though. I know mom would have eventually realized that Lynx was missing and if anything bad had happened to her, mom would have been real upset.

Hopefully Lynx has learned her lesson and won't be so sneaky in the future. Only time will tell.

Wow, is it hot - everything is so dry and ugly because there hasn't been any rain. Mom says we just got "spit" on a couple of times, but that was it. It's so hot that mom and dad are not letting me outside during the day, except to do my business, but then it's right back in. I heard mom saying it was 105 yesterday.

She and dad were gone a lot last weekend. They had something called a 35th high school reunion, and then they had their 30th wedding anniversary. I guess these are good things, they were real happy all weekend, but I was sure lonely.

I'm glad that's all over with and now they can spend more time with me and play ball.

There is one good thing that is coming from all this heat - I get to have ice cream once in a while....yum, yum, yum. :)

Mom usually doesn't like to cook, but here lately she does and it's kind of weird.

She started making something called Indian chicken curry - a lot. She and dad really like it. I think mom's going to try out some other Indian things to cook, but she's practicing on this one dish.

It seems to me she has perfected it, because it sure smells good and when I get a bite, it sure tastes good.

The curry part of it is really yummy!

As much as I like this dish, however, I will be glad when mom moves on to some other dishes. Can't wait to try all the new yummy things she's going to make.

I think the next thing she's going to try is something called apple chutney and some kind of bread called naan. Can't wait!

I've had a really good birthday today and I want to thank Dogster and my good friend, Zaidie for the birthday wishes and goodies.

The only thing that wasn't good was the trip to the vet this morning to get what mom called "my annuals". I really hated being there. But it didn't last very long and then we went to Petsmart. I got a good report and I have actually gained 4.2 pounds since last year. Mom was real happy about that. I got a brand new RED harness and some yummy quack quacks.

Then we went to grandma's. Mom and dad worked a little in her yard and then we visited a while. Mom gave me a couple of quack quacks. Yummmmm. After a little bit mom and dad took me home and then went out again. They weren't gone very long, though. When they got back, mom took a nap and dad stayed in the den with me and we watched tv and played ball.

When mom got up, I got to play some more ball and will probably get to play off and all for the rest of the evening. I think mom is even going to give me another quack quack later on.

Like I said, it was a great day!

The weather has been really nice, so mom and I went for a walk the other day. First, we crossed the park and went to go see mom's human friend, Ruth. On the way, there was this nice looking brown dog - I think a lab mix. Anyway, we sniffed each other and everything seemed to be ok when all of a sudden this dog (which was also bigger than me) tried to attack me!

My mom was really scared and we kept going in circles trying to get away from him. His mom and dad were close by and came pretty quick and got him away from me, but mom was REALLY mad. She said she would have kicked that dog real hard if his people hadn't gotten him away.

After visiting with Ruth for a while, we continued with our walk and went the opposite direction, around the block. We were almost back to the park, when out of nowhere came another dog that wanted to attack me. This one a rattie....and a girl!

She had run out of her house when her mom and dad opened the door. Again, it was a close call and she was prevented from hurting me.

I was really glad to get back home. I just snuggled with mom in her lap most of the night. Mom said the next time we go for a walk, she's taking her bat.

Yesterday was really crazy. I was at home with the cats while mom and dad were at work. It's been really, really cold here lately. Mom and dad says it's never been this cold before.

Anyway, I was just sleeping on the sofa when I got woken up by a weird sound. I went to check it out and found gallons and gallons of water pouring out of the laundry room. It was starting to come into our den and I was really nervous.

Mom and dad finally got home and were just as upset as I was. They let me outside to do my business and then mom made a couple of phone calls.

A few minutes later a strange man came to the house and made the water stop. I was kind of nervous about him, because he was a stranger. Mom and dad reassured me he was ok.

Now, this is where it gets really good.

Dad went with the man to the alley and left the back gate open. WOW!!! I saw my chance and went for it. I ran out that gate, across the street and into the park so quick dad couldn't stop me.

He called me, but I didn't listen. I had so much fun being off the leash in the park. There was a man with his dog and I went over to say hi. I ran around and around and around. I guess I was being a little obnoxious to the other dog. You know, kind of bragging that I wasn't on a leash and he was.

But it wasn't long before the fun wore off, because they left and it was really cold. So I went back home. I think dad was surprised I came back. Hey - I'm not that dumb. I know how good I have it. I'm not about to just up and try to find "greener pastures", so to speak. I've been on the street before and it's no fun.

Well, the man that made the water stop finally left and mom and dad calmed down. I came inside and got some yummy supper and laid on my bed.

That was a day I will never forget.

Hugs and licks,
Patch

Well, it's been a few weeks now, and things are starting to settle down a bit. Squeakers has stopped the growling, but she still hisses at me and Lexi a lot. They have actually gotten into some real "cat" fights. They try to avoid each other as much as possible. However, since their food, water and cat boxes are all in the same room, it's inevitable that they come into contact with each other.

She doesn't seem to hiss at Daisy, though. I think that's because Daisy let her know real soon who was the boss.

LOL, I guess the "cat queen" question has now been answered.

I crown you....Queen Daisy Mae, cat queen of the house! LOL!

Ok, to change the subject, it's been real cold lately. I go outside to do my business and come right back in just as quick as I can. Mom re-stuffed my bed and it is really thick and comfy. She put a nice comforter on top and then I get covered up with my "blanky", which is actually an old bath robe of mom's that she doesn't want anymore. I'm glad, because it's sooooo warm. :)

I'll be glad when it's not so cold anymore. I don't mind it being a little bit cool, but not this really cold stuff. At least it hasn't snowed.

First of all, mom changed her name from Lynx to Squeakers. Mom said it was kind of confusing when she was calling Lexi or Lynx - they sort of sound alike. Also, she squeaks when she meows.

Personally, I think her name should be Diablo, Beelzebub, Satan or Lucifer. I know those are boy names, but GEEZ! That is ONE....MEAN....CAT!!!!

I don't think Daisy or Lexi have actually growled at me, just hissed or meowed kind of mean. Actually, Daisy and I get along real good these days. But, Squeakers growls BIG TIME!

And not just at me. She doesn't like Daisy or Lexi, either. Nope, not at all!

WHEW!!!!

I know she's been through a rough time and needs to have some time to get used to things, but I hope she gets over this growling stuff real soon. She's SCARY!!!

I was barking and barking and so frustrated because I wanted out to tell whatever it was to GET OUT!!!

Finally mom and dad came home. Mom thought I just needed to do my business real bad, but she soon found out what the real issue was when she opened the door.

Those two neighbor dogs next door had broken through the fence and were in MY yard!!! How DARE they!!!!

Well, I let them know real quick whose yard that was and they had better get out. They sure were stubborn though. It took mom going next door to tell their dad what had happened before those 2 finally left.

Man, I was so mad that even after they were back in their yard, and the fence was mended, I kept on barking and running back and forth along the fence to make sure they knew they'd better stay the heck on their side of the fence!!!!

I was having a lot of fun Saturday. Dad was in the garage sawing wood and I love to be near him when he's not in the house, so I was in the back yard chasing birds.

It was so much fun. Those dumb birds would land somewhere and then I would charge them over and over, barking my head off. I was also letting the next door neighbor dogs know who was "boss".

Well, I guess I just got a little too cocky. I was running so fast, back and forth and across the rocks on the pond that I slipped and fell. I skinned up my legs and tore my dew claw. It really, really hurt.

When mom saw it, she knew immediately what had happened. She put some medicine on me and a bandage. Then she put that awful cone collar on me so I wouldn't mess with anything.

Thankfully I didn't have to wear it very long. The nail finally came off and it stopped bleeding. I sure was glad when I could take that thing off.

As we come upon this time of year to remember all the things we are thankful for, I just want to take this opportunity to say how thankful I am that, in March of 2009, I found my forever home.

It was the best day of my life. I was so scared, cold and hungry. I didn't think I would ever be loved or safe again. They took me home and gave me a warm house and lots of yummy things for my tummy. But most of all they showed me so much love and helped me not be afraid anymore.

I love my mom and dad so very much and I know they love me the same.

My prayers go out to all those unfortunate puppies and kitties who don't have these wonderful things in their lives. Please keep them in your prayers, too.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

Lots of wags and licks,
Patch

Mom took me for a walk in the park yesterday. Plus, we went to visit mom's human friend, Ruth. It was so much fun. I love to sniff everything and taste the nice green grass - tastes different than what I have at home.

I wanted to just run and run and run, but I couldn't because I was on the leash. Mom's knees are kind of bad, too, so she's not able to run with me. Bummer.

I hope someday we get a doggie park so I can get off my leash and mom can just let me run, run, run to my heart's content.

1.) I get mom and dad all to myself.

2.) I get to have all the quack quacks I
want. (Mom had stopped buying them because
she couldn't afford them for 3 dogs).

3.) I get to have cheese again, too.

4.) I get to play ball all I want and nobody
interferes and gets in my face.

5.) I don't get "beat up" all the time.

6.) I got new toys (squeaky balls, of course)

7.) Mom snuggles with me in her lap a whole lot
more because there's not another dog around
trying to do the same thing at the same time.

I could go on and on, but I'll just stop for now.

My mom is very sad today. Gus went to the Rainbow Bridge.

He had a lot of problems, mainly not trusting people. But he was also really scared of lots of sounds and things that move.

Mom and dad tried really hard to get him to not be scared, but nothing seemed to work.

Mom couldn't even shake out a trash bag or he would go running behind the couch. She even wadded it up and showed him it could be a toy, but he didn't budge.

That was just one of many, many things he was scared of and it seemed like every day there was something new for him to be scared of.

Mom and dad decided that he was suffering too much and the only way he would have peace would be to go to the Bridge.

Please pray for my mom. She is really, really upset about all this. She really wanted Gus to get better and find a forever home. She is feeling like a big failure and bad person because she couldn't get Gus well.

It's been a few days since Sadie was adopted. Mom really misses her. I don't. I'm so glad to not get barked at and attacked every time I go outside to do my business.

Plus, there's more attention from mom. She says once Gus gets over being afraid and is comfortable with other people, he will be put up for adoption, too.

I hope it happens soon. I really want my mom and dad all to myself again.

I'm sorry if that sounds selfish. I don't mean to be. I am really happy for Sadie and hope that Gus will find a great forever home, too. But they are so big and I'm so little, it gets kind of scary getting run over every day.

Gus is not as bad as Sadie was, though. At least he'll leave me alone when I tell him too. (in doggie language, of course).

We had to get a bath last night. Gus fell into the pond trying to get a drink.

Mom and I don't understand why he wants to drink out of it. Sadie chewed up mom's pump and hasn't she been able to pump the water out. Plus it rained a lot over the summer. It's starting to finally evaporate down real low, but it sure is nasty with algae. YUCK!

Sadie drank it, too. (shudder). Mom puts out nice, clean water for him to drink all the time, but he heads right for the pond scum. What a dummy. Good thing he's on heartworm prevention, or he might get real sick.

I know I am not being nice, but I really don't care. She IS annoying. She is always trying to tackle me. She steals my toys when I'm playing with them. She tears stuff up in the back yard, such as chair cushions and my pillow that I USED to lay on. I know mom doesn't like this, but she hasn't gotten mad at Sadie about it. She did get mad at her, though, when she started digging stuff out of the trash. :)

I put up with her for mom's sake, because I know she loves her. Plus, I don't want to get into trouble. It sure is hard, though. I had mom all to myself and now I have to share. I just don't like it one little bit.

WELL! I can now understand what Daisy and Lexi felt like when I became part of the family. Mom and dad brought home a new dog. They named her Sadie.

I don't like it much. She tries to play with me, and MY TENNIS BALLS. I let her know what I think about that, too....grrrr. It works and she leaves them and me alone, but then mom gets kind of mad at me. I don't know why mom wants to play ball with her anyway, she's not very good at it. She'll go get it, but then just drops it on the floor instead of taking it to mom. Gheesh.

At one time I thought I wanted a doggie brother or sister, but now I'm not so sure. I liked getting all of mom's attention. Now I have to share everything. My food, my treats and my toys. But most of all, mom's hugs and kisses. That is really annoying.

Mom thinks we will eventually be really good friends. I'm not so sure about that. Right now Sadie's not feeling too well, and not really bothering me too much, but that could change once she's all better.

I'll think about giving her a chance. That's more than I got from Daisy and Lexi. But, I make no guarantees about how things will turn out. We'll just have to wait and see.

Yesterday was great, today hasn't been. At least, so far.

First of all, it snowed. Brrrrrr. No going outside and chasing birds or barking at my neighbors today! Bummer!!

And, as I said yesterday, Daisy and I had to go to that awful vet's office. Siggghhhh. Poor Daisy got put in this box with a metal screen on the front. She was NOT happy. I sure felt sorry for her. She is usually very quiet - hardly a sound out of her, but when she got put in that box, she meowed real loud all the way to the vet's office. I tried to make her feel better, but it was so sad, I started to kind of cry, too.

They poked and prodded her, just like they've done me. Then they stuck her with some needles. Then they stuck ME with some needles. (shudder)

We were SOOOOO glad to get out of there. On the way home we had to stop at the store and get Daisy some medicine. Dad stayed in the car with us while mom went in.

The only fun thing about this day so far was the funny things on the car window that kept going back and forth. It kind of startled me at first, but then I was fascinated by them. What are they and what makes them do that? Such mysteries all around me. Sure wish I could figure it all out.

Anyway, we got home and Daisy and I both got some yummy treats. I guess mom and dad felt bad about what we had to endure.

I had the BEST birthday! Today was really pretty, so I got to stay outside and bark at all the birds. When mom and dad got home, they gave me lots of presents and some special treats.

I got some Pupperoni and 2 new tennis balls....one red, the other blue. (The red one is my favorite.) I also got another ball that squeaks! I REALLY like it a lot!

Then mom had to run an errand and I got to go with her in the car. It was so fun to see all the interesting things. I wanted to get in her lap, but she wouldn't let me.

After the errand, we stopped at Sonic and got some take out. Chili dogs are so yummy.

Then, mom played ball with me. She is taking a little rest right now. She and dad are going to watch a movie later, and I will most likely be in her lap all comfy, cozy.

I'm glad my birthday was today and not tomorrow. It was so pretty today, but tomorrow the weather is going to change a lot and we're suppose to get snow. Can you believe it?

Plus, mom is taking me and Daisy to that awful vet. I'm getting my regular vaccinations, but poor Daisy is sick. She has been sneezing a lot for several days now. I hope she will be ok.

Well, I'm going to say bye for now. Got some movie watching and some snuggling to do.

Love,

I had to go to the vet again -grrrrr- but only to get my stitches out. I was so glad I wasn't going to have to stay there like last time.

Afterwards, mom and dad took me to Petsmart and bought me a new harness. The other one wasn't fitting properly and I kept getting choked. They wanted to buy me a toy, too, but I just didn't see anything I really wanted. I am quite happy with my tennis balls and my tug-of-war rope.

I thought we would go home after that, but I got a wonderful surprise. We went to a new park that had a great big pond in it. There were all kinds of new scents, sights and sounds to take in.

One of the new things was all the ducks and geese. Ohhhh, how I wanted to get hold of one of them. I tried to go into the water (almost dragged dad in with me). But, dad had a real good hold of the leash and wouldn't let me go get any. Bummer!

We found a turtle, too! I was real curious and so I started to sniff it. Did you know that turtles can make their heads disappear? It really startled me to see it's head go inside it's body. I tried and tried to get it to come back out, but it wouldn't co-operate.

I also saw a dead fish, but mom said it was gross and we left it alone.

I really wish dad had let me get those geese. I barked and barked, trying to make my wishes known, but it didn't do any good. Mom and dad just stood there laughing. I'm not quite sure if it was at me or the geese. It was very frustrating, to say the least.

I hope we get to go back to that park again. Maybe next time I will be able to convince mom and dad to let me go in the water. That would be awesome if I caught one of those ducks or geese. Fresh quack quack is probably tastier than the dried kind. Keep your paws crossed for me. :)

Man, oh man. This was the WORST trip to the vet that I've had so far. I sure found out what mom meant by "snip, snip". I couldn't believe mom and dad left me in that place and let them do that to me. I don't know what I did to deserve it, but it must have been something awful. I thought mom had forgiven me for my lapse in judgment over the potty thing. Maybe she really didn't and this was punishment for it. I think I have more than paid for that mistake. I was so miserable.

I had to spend the night plus most of the next day. For a while I thought mom and dad were just going to leave me there permanently. But they did come and get me. I was sure glad to see them. I think they kind of felt bad about what they let happen to me. I got to ride in the front seat on dad's lap all the way home. When we got home, mom fluffed up my pillow and gave me a nice belly rub and gave me lots of kisses.

Then, she made a wonderful supper for me.....pork chops and scalloped potatoes! Yummmmy. After that had settled a bit, I even got some vanilla ice cream.

I suppose I will get over this latest indignity I've had to suffer at the vet's hands, but hopefully I won't have to suffer it again. Mom and dad says it will be the only time it will ever happen. IT HAD BETTER BE!

Mom has given me another chance! She hasn't put me in the bathroom for a couple of days, now. She said as long as I was a good boy and remembered where the "potty" was, I wouldn't have to go in there again. I will sure try to not disappoint her.

Mom even bought me a new toy! It is a chewy rope that we can play tug-of-war with! I really, really like it. Sometimes it is more fun than my tennis ball, if you can believe that. I love to play tug-of war. I chewed up my other stuffed toy playing that game. Mom fixed it for me a couple of times, but after the last time, she just threw it away.

There has been more snow. I was so disappointed because there were a few days of nice warm, sunny weather and I got to go outside. It was so much fun! Maybe it will be summer soon. I sure hope so.

Yesterday, mom came home early. I was so excited because I got to come out of the bathroom and be with her. It wasn't too long, though, that my joy turned to worry. There were these 2 strange men that came to the house and mom just let them in!

They looked in one of our closets at this big old metal box. It's kind of scary because it has fire in it. They also looked at a really small box on the wall that mom said wasn't working.

Afterward, they went outside and took a big long metal snake with them. I was really worried and wanted to go outside and bark real loud to make them all go away. But, mom wouldn't let me.

Pretty soon, I heard the loudest, scariest noise coming from outside of the kitchen. One of the guys kept coming in and running the water. I hope mom makes them pay for part of our water bill!

The man that kept running the water tried to play with me, and I gave it a little bit of effort. I couldn't keep it up, though. It was just all too much for me.

They FINALLY went away and I thought mom would start playing with me and I would get lots of kisses and hugs. But I went right back in that darn bathroom.

However, I did notice that after everything was quiet the house didn't get so cold like it did before. It was actually pretty toasty. Plus, mom seemed in a real good mood when she got home that evening. Even when she was cleaning the sink.

Whatever made mom happy, I just hope those strange men don't come back.

Mom's not too happy with me right now. A couple of times I decided to not wake mom and dad up to let me outside and I did my business in the house - specifically on mom's crochet bag.

I didn't think she minded, because she never got mad at me. I suppose she didn't know - but she finally found out. She decided to take her crochet to work with her and discovered what I had done. I guess it had all disappeared underneath, so she didn't see it until she lifted the bag up. I am just really lucky the bag is moisture proof. If I had gotten her crochet soiled, I would really be in trouble!

Oh, and the other night she caught me almost doing it again.

The result is that I'm not allowed to sleep on my sofa during the day while they're gone, or at night when they're asleep. I have to stay in the bathroom. At least it's not that horrid laundry room - it's freezing in there.

Mom brings my comfy pillow and toys. She also gives me my food and water. I have had to do this for 2 days now. I wonder if she will ever trust me again 'cause I haven't done anything since she put me in there. I sure hope this isn't permanent. :(

Today was my grandma's birthday, she turned 85! I don't know how old that is in dog years, but I know it's a lot of birthdays!

Mom and dad, plus my human sisters, took her out to eat. I didn't get to go, dog-gone-it, but I got some real yummy rib bones after they got back. Geez, they sure were good.

My grandma is pretty special. She loves me a lot and I love her. She always tells me what a good boy I am and that I am a fine dog. She rubs my belly, too.

It was in front of her house that mom and dad found me. I spent my first night with her. At first, I thought she was going to be my new mom, but I guess she is too old to take care of a dog. In the end, it all worked out for the best.

Was it ever cold today! The weather had been so beautiful for the last several days, mom and dad let me stay outside. I got to run around the yard and bark at everything. It was great!

But it wasn't to last. It turned real cold last night and this morning it was raining. I really did NOT want to go outside, not even for nature's call. But I did. At least mom and dad let me come in afterward and I got to stay inside the rest of the day.

However, when mom and dad came home, and I went outside again, everything was white with snow. It was real pretty, but MAN was it ever freezing. I really was glad when I got back inside.

FYI, I have learned to stay on the pavement on days like this - that way I don't have to get a bath afterwards. :)

I heard mom and dad saying it was supposed to be like this a little while longer. I don't like it AT ALL! I love to go outside. I get bored just being in the house all day with no one to play with.....Daisy and Lexi won't play with me, that's for sure.

But, better to be bored than to be freezing cold outside, so I'll just curl up on my comfy pillow on my comfy couch and take a nap and dream of warmer days to come.....sigh.......

Mom fixed another ham tonight. And, guess what? I got the bone with a lot of ham on it .....again!!!

I know I obsess about food, but I was so hungry when mom and dad rescued me and I get such good food and treats now.

When mom makes supper, she always makes enough for her and dad to have for lunch the next day. Well, she NEVER eats all of hers, which I am grateful for, because I get it when she comes home.

AND, on the weekends, she usually makes eggs and bacon or sausage and I always get some, too.

Plus, I get my duck tenders, chips, and cheese slices, etc...

All that in addition to my regular dog food.

Then mom plays ball or tug of war with me, which tires me out pretty quickly on a full tummy. Pretty soon, I get real sleepy. Mom leans back in her recliner with her neck pillow and blanket and I get to snuggle with her there.

It just doesn't get much better than this.

I don't think I've ever said that my dad has seizures. Mom calls it epilepsy. I get so scared when he has them. I've always tried to help him before, but couldn't. I was so glad that this time I could.

This morning dad was in his chair, watching the weather, when he had one. He is always up before mom and she wasn't there to help him, herself. So, I BARKED, BARKED, BARKED, real loud.

Pretty soon, mom came running into the room. Dad had gotten up from his chair and was trying to go outside - he doesn't really know what he's doing after the seizure is over. It was 19 degrees outside and dad just had on his robe. He could have passed out and froze to death or at least gotten very sick.

Mom got him to sit back down and he went to sleep. He didn't remember any of it afterwards - never does.

Mom was so proud of me. She gave me lots of praises and kisses. Then I got some extra duck tenders. I was glad I could finally help. I just hope I will be able to help him again when he as another one - and not just for the rewards, but because I really, really love my dad.

Wow, the weather has been so weird today. I sure am glad I don't have to be out in it.

It was real cold this morning. There was ice on the street and one of mom's ponds froze over. Later that morning, it warmed up and the ice all melted. The sun was shining and it wasn't too bad (at least it looked good from the window). Later, it clouded up and started to rain! Now the wind is blowing really hard and there is a lot of dirt blowing around. The sky is actually brown!

Mom's friend, Patti, said only in here in good old Lubbock, TX can you see all 4 seaons in a matter of minutes.

Boy, is she ever right about that!

Things are still pretty much the same around here. Mom and dad go to work and come home. They play with me and give me good food and lots of love.

Recently, however, mom and dad got a big box from out of our storage shed and brought into the house. Inside were all sorts of strange things. They even had a tree in it. Mom set it up on the corner table and started hanging pretty things on it - and even colored lights! I had to stay out of the way while she did it, but it didn't take her long. She seemed in a real good mood.

Afterward, we played ball and got to eat some leftover turkey from Thankgsgiving. They went to my human sister's house, so I didn't get any tidbits while it was cooking, doggone it! But, I still got to enjoy part of the meal. I have discovered I like brussell sprouts!

Also, it has turned pretty cold and I haven't had to go outside. Today it started snowing - the first of the year. I get to stay in the nice warm house. The only drawback is that it's kind of boring. I just sleep a lot and not much else. When mom and dad get home, boy am I ready to go outside (got to do my business, you know). But soon I am right back in.

I know I have said it before, but I don't care - I'll say it again. I am so very grateful for my mom and dad and the loving home I have now. I know it will be forever and I'll never have to worry about being on the street again.

Grandma bought me an early Christmas present - a fluffy red bed! It is very comfy. The only problem is that Daisy likes it, too.

Actually, I don't mind if she sleeps on it, but mom and dad do. They try and shoo her off. I kind of wish they wouldn't. She and I are getting along so well these days.

Nope, it's not a typo in the title. Daisy and I are actually starting to sleep together - sort of.

She was laying at one end of the sofa one day and when I got on the other end she didn't jump down. We have since slept that way quite a few times and, as a matter of fact, have started sleeping closer and closer together.

I don't think she's ready to snuggle, yet, but - hey - we're making progress!!!

She used to not even get on the sofa when I was on it, so I think there has been real progress made. Of course, she doesn't let me get too close and she still doesn't like for me to sniff her.

Got tagged by Bean - the birthday boy. He asked a few of us to complete this questions.

WHAT COLOR IS YOUR COLLAR?
Red and black.

WHAT KIND OF FOOD DO YOU EAT?
Mostly dog food (Purina One) but I get little tidbits of human food from time to time - last night I got smoked beef sausage! :)

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TREAT:
Ooooh, easy. Dried duck tenders. We call them my quack-quacks.

DO YOU HAVE A VALENTINE OR SIGNIFICANT OTHER?
Well, I really haven't asked her, but I consider Bean's sister, Nicki to be my Valentine.

DO YOU GET TABLE SCRAPS?
sometimes

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY?
Hmmmm, that's a tough one - NOT! My yellow tennis balls of course.

WHEN IS YOUR BIRTHDAY?
We don't know my actual birthday, so we picked March 19, 'cause that's when mom and dad rescued me.

HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU GET TO EAT?
Well, usually twice, at least. Dad puts a big bowl of dog food out for me during the day and I get another one when he and mom come home. But if you count all my little tidbits and treasts - probably 3, realistically.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?
Hmm, I don't really know - I guess yellow, since it is the color of my tennis balls.

HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH?
Haven't been weighed lately, but I think about 1O lbs.

DO YOU LIKE TO BE BRUSHED OR GROOMED?
I don't mind brushing so much, but I hate getting a bath.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST FAVORITE THING TO DO?
Duh----play ball?

DO YOU HOPE ALL YOUR PALS PUT THIS IN YOUR DIARY?
That's a big fat YES!!

It was mom's birthday on Saturday. She got a real cool thing called a windmill. Dad put it together for her. I like it cause it whirls around and around. I like to watch the birds try to land on it. It is so funny - they get real freaked out when it turns directions. Ha Ha.

Mom also got a real pretty quilt from grandma - but she won't let me lay on it. It's not fair, because Daisy gets to - only when she's in mom's lap and mom is covered up with it, though.

There's something going on called the fair, too. Mom and dad went and brought me back a turkey leg! Boy was it yummmmmy. There's some left in the fridge, too. Mom gives me a little at a time - says we need to make it last.

The weather has been real nice, except that it is kind of cold in the morning. But it isn't long before it warms up. When it starts to get real cold outside - and stays cold, I will have to stay in that stupid laundry room. Mom's thinking about letting me go to doggie day camp a couple of times a week, though. She just has to make sure we can afford it. I sure hope we can - I hate that laundry room.

My dew claw finally got better, accept that I lost my nail. It's healed nicely, though. Mom and I played and played with my ball. It was so much fun!

We got a new TV last night. Mom and dad were pretty upset 'cause the TV had something called snow on it. Mom made a phone call to someone to try and fix a thing called cable, but it didn't work.

After a while they put me outside and left - which I didn't appreciate at all. They had just gotten home! It was dark when they got back and they didn't want to play with me. They were more interested in their dumb new TV.

I tried and tried to get them to play, but all I got was ignored. When they got everything hooked back up to their satisfaction, they FINALLY paid attention to me.

I hope something else doesn't distract them tonight. Don't they know that I am supposed to be their center of attention at ALL times?

Anyway, I have to wear that horrible cone collar again. At least I can walk.

I thought if I gave mom my "poor, pitiful me" look she would give in and take it off. But no. I have to wear it a few days more. She takes my bandage off every couple of days to see if it has healed or not. It's better, but not good enough for her. Geez.

I have discovered a new treat - Fritos! I even like them better than potato chips. I almost like them as much as my duck tenders, but duck tenders are still the best.

Last night mom and I were playing ball when something crawling on the floor caught my eye. It was more interesting than the ball, if you can imagine that. I would get close to it and it would move pretty fast away from me. I would get close again and then it would change directions. It was really fun and I almost caught the thing when mom spoiled all my fun. She shrieked "Brown Recluse Spider!!!" and went to kill it. But then something weird happened. When she started squashing it, some miniature bugs came out of it. I thought that was kind of cool, but mom freaked out even more and was trying to mash them with a paper towel. She finally got the small vacuum to try and get them up.

Bummer.

My diary was on the daily pick again! I can't believe it. It was for the 15th but I just now found out when mom read her e-mail. Wow, what an honor.

Another great thing that happened is all the new pup pal requests I received. I really love making new friends. It will take me a while, but I am going to read each and every one's pages. I can hardly wait to learn all about everyone.

Mom is feeling a whole lot better - thanks for all your prayers. She rested a lot Saturday and Sunday and by Sunday night she seemed almost completely well. We started playing ball and tug of war with my stuffed toy. The only think I didn't like about her getting well, however, was that she felt good enough to giving me a bath. Ughhhhhh.

She and dad went to Petsmart the other day to get me and my sisters some more food. They also got me a shiny, fancy new ID tag and a bag of really yummy duck tenders! Yum yum. They are sooooo good. I could eat them and eat them and eat them. Mom only gives me a couple each day, though, 'cause she says they have to last.

Guess I will say so long now. Got to start getting to know my new pup pals!

Mom was still feeling pretty bad last night. There was hardly any ball playing at all. She just slept in her recliner with her cover and neck pillow. I decided that I would see if I could do anything to help, so I jumped in her lap. I half expected her to make me get down, but to my surprise she didn't. I laid down with her and she just put her arm around me and patted my head. We slept most of the night together that way.

This morning she seemed to be feeling better. I really didn't want to get up. I loved being there close to her. I don't think she really wanted to get up either, but she said we had to. Bummer.

I really wish my mom wasn't sick. It's been going on since Friday - she was real bad then. She kept poking some kind of stick in her mouth and then taking it out and looking at it. I don't know why she did that, I just heard her tell dad she had something called fever. Whatever that is, I know it made mom feel real bad.

She seemed to be better the next day, but the she started feeling bad again the day after.

I wish I could make it all better. I get up in her lap and try to cuddle with her like she does me when I'm unhappy or scared, but that doesn't seem to help. I know she wants to play with me 'cause she tries, but I can tell she poops out realy quick and just lays down and shuts her eyes.

I promised I would do this. Hopefully all my pup pals will do it, too.

HOW OLD WAS YOUR TYPIST ...

I promised I would do this. Hopefully all my pup pals will do it, too.

HOW OLD WAS YOUR TYPIST WHEN THEY GOT THEIR FIRST DOG?
Hmmm...I don't think she remembers 'cause she was pretty little (maybe 3). There are pictures of her with a Scottie called Bimbo and a German Shepherd puppy named Buddy.

HAS YOUR TYPIST EVER BEEN BITTEN BY ANOTHER DOG? IF SO, HOW MANY TIMES?
A few times, I think, but only in playing. I know I have accidentally bitten her when we were playing ball.

SPAGHETTI - WITH OR WITHOUT MEATBALLS?
This question is just silly. What dog worth their salt would turn down meatballs?

WHAT IS YOUR TYPIST'S FAVORITE SONG RIGHT NOW?
I don't think my typist has a favorite song. She likes all kinds of music. Classical, Classic Rock n Roll, Native American, Celtic..

HOW MANY DOG PARKS DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR AREA?
Unfortunately, there are none. A lot of people are trying to get one, but nothing yet. Hopefully someday. It would be awesome to actually get to run all I want to.

WHAT WAS THE LAST MOVIE THAT YOUR TYPIST WENT TO SEE?
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. She liked it a lot.

IS ANIMAL SHAMPOO TESTED ON HUMANS?
I don't really know, but mom gets mine on her all the time (especially when I try to shake it off), so I guess it's ok.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET YOUR TEETH BRUSHED?
I don't. I have chewey things that take care of that.

COLLAR OR HARNESS?
Both. I wear collar all the time, but I have to put my harness when we go for walks, because I generally manage to slip out of my collar. If I had my way I wouldn't wear either one!

DO FISH GET THIRSTY?
My mom has 3 ponds and they all have fish in them, so this one is real easy. The answer is no. Fish get water through their gills and the food they eat in the pond (algae).

WHERE IS THE LAST PLACE YOUR TYPIST WENT TO FOR VACATION?
Another easy one. They went to New England and saw the fall foliage. That was before I became a part of the family, but they are ALWAYS looking at their pictures. It sure does look pretty.

PETSMART OR PETCO OR ______?
Petsmart. We don't have a Petco.

BESIDES DOGSTER, WHAT'S ANOTHER ONE OF YOUR TYPIST'S FAVORITE WEB SITES?
Well, she loves Catster, of course, but she has recently gotten on FaceBook. She and Nicki's mom are pals now. Cool!

HAVE YOU EVER CAUGHT A SQUIRREL?
Nope. They don't usually come into my back yard - too scared. But I have caught a bird. Mom kind of got annoyed with me, too 'cause it was a dove. She said she wished if I had to catch birds, why couldn't it have been a grackel - she hates them!

ARE YOU MORE OF A SNIFFER OR A LICKER?
Definitely a licker. I like to sniff, but licking is more enjoyable.

WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU WERE AT THE VET?
You've got to be kidding? It's only been a couple of months ago (remember the broken toe?). And if I NEVER have to go back again, it will be too soon for me!!!

HOW MANY PACKETS OF KOOL-AID WOULD IT TAKE TO FILL THE OCEAN?
I don't even know what Kool-Aid is. We don't have any at home. For that matter, I don't even know what an ocean is.

DOES YOUR TYPIST SPEND MORE THAN TWO HOURS A DAY ON DOGSTER?
Yes. She switches between all her favorite websites, but usually ends up on Dogster. It's her favorite.

WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE DOG ON THE CRACKER JACK BOX - PETE, BING OR SKIP?
I think it's Bingo, but I'm not sure (stole my answer from Nicki).

IF YOU COULD MEET ANY "FAMOUS" DOG PAST OR PRESENT, WHO WOULD IT BE?
That's a tough one, 'cause there are so many. I think Eddie from Frazier. He's cool.

Ok, I'm done!!! That was kind of fun. Be sure to take the survey, too! You won't be sorry.

I kind of have a phobia about kitchens. Something bad happened to me in a kitchen once and I just don't want to go into one, not even to retrieve my ball!!! I think mom has ESP, 'cause she seems to know even though I don't speak human and can't really tell her. She puts my food and water right on the edge so I won't be scared so much.

Mom's been trying to get me over my phobia by carrying me into the middle and giving me lots of hugs and kisses, plus yummy treats like cheese (one of my favorites).

The other night my mom's human friend came over again for supper (can we say cook out!) . They ate in the dining room this time, which is on the other side of that kitchen. Well, if I wanted any tidbits I had to cross it to get some.

At first mom picked me up and carried me into the dining room, but if I wanted any more morsels I would have to stay in the dining room. If I left, I would have to come back across the kitchen. So I just stayed put.

After eating, they played ball with me. They would throw it across the kitchen into the living room. At first I wouldn't go get it and just looked at mom pitifully. But I realized they weren't going to go get it for me, so I decided I would just take the plunge and run through that kitchen just as fast as I could to get my ball. Whew!!! I made it without anything bad happening.

I wanted to play some more, of course, but the only way they were going to throw it to me was if I crossed that kitchen. They all encouraged me and said it was ok, so I finally got my courage up and took the plunge again. I ran back across that kitchen and got lots of praises, hugs and kisses. That felt really good!

Soon the kitchen didn't seem quite so scary as it had been. I'm a lot better than I used to be, but sometimes the old feeling comes back and I just freeze. But mom just starts encouraging me and coaxes me in with treats and pretty soon the fear goes away. Eventually, with mom and dad's help, kitchens won't be scary at all.

Mom took me to the park yesterday. Since it has rained so much here (an unusual thing) everything was so pretty and green. There were a lot of new smells that were just irresistable. Mom tried to play ball with me, but I kept going off to see other sights instead of taking it back to her, so I didn't get to play very long. But, I couldn't help it, everything was just so wonderful. I hadn't seen the park looking so pretty before.

After walking in the park we went to visit my mom's human friend Ruth. She lives really close by so we could walk there. I really like Ruth. She gives me lots of attention. Mom and I visit her as often as we can. Mom says we don't know how long we'll have her, 'cause she's getting on in years. I don't know what that means, I just know I like her company.

After the park we went home and mom cooked supper for her and dad. I sure did want some, but didn't get any. Well, that's not entirely true. I got a little bit. But, as usual, it wasn't enough. After supper mom played ball with me and rubbed my tummy. It was the perfect end to a perfect evening!

Wow, some real cool pups from "down under' asked me to be their pal. Of course, I said yes. They are all in the same family. Their names are Snoopy, Taylor, Mickey, Daisy, Zena, Tripod and
George (crossed the bridge). Plus they have a lot of non-pup animals in their family as well. Mostly birds, I think. I know there's a girl duck named Zac. Wish I could have a duck sister. Probably more fun than cats.

I am so excited to have friends from another country. They are my first! I wrote each of them a little note and gave George a halo star. He had it pretty rough before he went to his furrever family.

I have the most in common with Zena. She is part chihuahua and they have some of the same traits as us ratties. One is, that we may be small, but our bark is big! She was also rescued off the street just like I was and doesn't like men too much (accept our dads, of course).

But, I like everybody and know we will all be good "pup" buddies.

On another subject...mom gardened again last night, but didn't stay out as long. I was really glad 'cause we got to play ball a lot more. I think she was trying to make up for last night 'cause she really played a lot more with me than usual. She took some new pictures and a video - I am getting a lot better at catching the ball without any bounce!

She plans to upgrade to Dogster plus pretty soon so she can show me off more. Then you can see how much I've improved!

The weekend is coming up. I hope there will be another cook-out. I live for them now. Yumm, Yumm....

Wow, I got a gift (a ball, of course) from Nicki. She is one of my pup pals and playing ball is one of her favorite things, too. I gave her one in return, plus all the rest of her family. We are all rat terriers, you see, and we "ratties" love to play ball.

She called me handsome!! I think she is very pretty.

Those thunderstorms have started again. I really, really hate it. Nicki calls loud noises "booms". I think that name is very appropriate, especially for thunder that makes your house shake. Thankfully there was no hail.

Mom didn't play with me much last night. She stayed outside until dark and when she came in she was really filthy. She had been playing in the dirt - something called gardening. She went and got a bath before she played with me. By that time it was almost time for bed, so we didn't get to play very much. I hope she doesn't do that too often. I really miss her.

Have I said how much I love playing ball? Well, it is just the best thing ever. I love to run and catch it or even just chase it a while. The best part is when I bring it back to mom or dad and they give me lots of praises. Mom says I am a good boy and gives me hugs and kisses, too. Sometimes she and dad like to play tricks on me with the ball, but I am not easily fooled. I know they have it even when they say they don't. I just stare at them and they finally bring it out from behind them and throw it.

I have several balls - 4 for now. Sometimes dad throws them all at the same time. I wish he wouldn't do that because I love all my balls so much and I want to get all of them. I try to, but my mouth isn't big enough to hold them all and I have to choose!

I wish mom and dad loved to play as much as I do. They say they are tired after a while and won't throw it anymore. It sure is a let down.
But when they rest up a bit, they will throw it again - especially mom. She is trying to train me to catch it in one throw. Sometimes I can, but it is really hard. I can catch it after just one bounce, though - that's easy.

Man, have you read Daisy & Lexi's diaries? They sure are gripey. I don't think they appreciate what a good home they have. I know I sure do. I don't even care if I have to sleep on the floor, I am happy just to have a family again that loves me. Not to mention a warm (or cool), dry house to live in.

I guess it's because they're old and they are cats. It seems to me that all cats think they are priveledged, somehow.

Mom and Dad don't let me on the beds, either, by the way. But, that is ok. As long as I know they are around it doesn't matter to me where I sleep. And, just to clarify things, I don't have to sleep on the floor - I was just making a point.

All of us get lots of love, good food and water and are safe. That is what's really important. If those two sisters of mine had to live out on the streets for a while, maybe they would be a little more appreciative. But I know that won't happen 'cause mom and dad wouldn't let it happen.

Sorry about the complaining - I know that's not like me. I just get really tired of seeing and hearing them whining all the time.

Dad has been cooking out a lot, which I really enjoy. First, because I get to spend more time with him and he plays ball with me. But mostly because of all the yummy food I get to taste when he does.

I think he is going to do it again next Saturday. I can hardly wait to find out what delicious tidbits are in store for me.

Mom is feeling a lot better. She's almost back to her old self. We have been playing ball a lot and I have been getting a lot of hugs, kisses and belly rubs. I am sure glad.

We were all over at Grandma's house a couple of weeks ago. Mom and Dad were doing something called "painting". We spent all day there, but I didn't have much fun. Even though they were outside with me, they were too busy to play much. They would throw the ball and pet me some, but it was just not enough. Frankly, I wish they had left me at home. It was pretty hot and I was soooo bored. At home I had more shade and I could at least bark at the dogs next door & chase the birds. I tried to dig a hole in the shade, but grandma got mad at me, saying something about her strawberries. Gee Whiz.

When mom said it was time to go, boy I didn't waste any time getting into the car. I was so happy to be home. I think mom and dad was, too. We all had a bath and just laid down and rested.

Wow, I really love the this day. We had another cook out and dad grilled some really yummy ribs. I got lots of bones with meat still on them. (Again, the cats were not invited. Tee Hee)

Grandma came over and ate with us. It was sure nice. Later that evening, I heard a lot of popping noises. It wasn't anything like that hail we had, so it didn't bother me any. I just wondered where it was coming from.

Speaking of hail, all those storms are finally over (hopefully), but it sure has been hot. I have a lot of shade places, though and lots of water to drink. I really am glad when mom and dad gets home, except mom isn't usually in playing or loving mood these days. I don't think she feels too good when she comes home, 'cause she just wants to sit in her chair and sleep. But, after a while, she plays with me and gives me hugs and kisses.

Sometimes mom feels so bad, she lays on the couch and falls asleep there. I don't think she likes doing that, but I do because I get to be with her all night long. Even so, I still hope mom gets to feeling better soon. She's more fun when she's well.

Saturday we were in the living room watching TV, when all of a sudden the hail just came out of nowhere. I mean, it was still sunny outside when it started! It soon got real dark, though.

It was mom and dad's anniversary, too. They weren't sure they were going to their special dinner. But, it finally stopped and they were able to go.

I will be glad when these things are over with. They really scare me. Mom saw I was shaking and cuddled with me in her lap.

I have discovered that dad cooks outside during the summer and that it is really fun!

One of mom and dad's human friends came over Saturday and dad cooked hambugers, hot dogs and chicken!!!

It was too hot in the house 'cause our A/C is out. They sat under the gazebo and ate...and shared with me! Yum Yum!!

(The cats were not invited - Ha Ha)

After we ate, everyone played ball with me and gave me lots of attention.

Since it was so hot inside, mom's friend let us borrow some window A/C's they weren't using. They put them in the living room and bedroom. It sure does feel good to be cool again.
Hopefully mom and dad will get a new A/C soon, but for now everything is OK.

I hope we have lots more cook outs. Then I can have more people food and all the attention that comes with it!!

There hasn't been a lot of excitement lately. Everything is pretty routine. Mom and Dad go to work and I have to go outside. When they FINALLY get home, I come inside.

During the day I sleep a lot, but periodically I bark at the dogs next door. It's not that I don't like them, I just need to let them know who's boss and keep them in line. Then, there are the birds. They come in the yard to get a drink from the pond. Sometimes they even try to get my food - but not for long. As soon as I spot them I charge them and they fly away fast!

After mom & dad comes home is the best time of the day. I get lots of hugs & kisses. They play ball with me and sometimes take me to the park. Afterwards, I get to snooze on the sofa and get my belly rubbed.

On the weekends I sometimes get to go to grandma's house. Since my "Big Adventure", mom doesn't leave me alone there anymore. I go with them when they run errands. I have to stay in the car and I don't like that too much, but they aren't gone very long. At least I get to see new things. Funny how that used to scare me, but now I love to see the sights.

Thank you for featuring my diary today. My mom was real excited about it and went right to the web site. She also checked out the other doggie's diaries as well.

Everything has been so wonderful now that I am on 4 legs again!!! I can jump up on everything now, even the bed. Mom's not too happy about that, but she is so glad my toe is healed that she doesn't put up too much of a fuss.

I keep trying to make friends with my sisters, especially Daisy. I don't know why they don't like me. I really like them and try to get them to play with me. The only reaction I get is a lot of mean meowing and hissing. All they seem to want to do is sleep and eat. I guess it's because they're so old. Daisy is 16 and Lexi is almost 12. Oh, well, at least I have mom and dad to play with.

I am finally gaining weight, which makes mom and dad real happy. I think they were really worrying for a while that I was never going to start fattening up. I'm still a little thin, but the vet said it was better for me to gain weight back real slow than fast. I don't know how much I weigh, but you can't see my ribs and tail bones so much now. Just give me a few more months and I will bet I'll be 100% up to par!

Goodbye for now.
Love, Patch

I had to go back to that stupid vet again last Saturday. They put a new bandage and a bigger collar on me so I can't chew on this horrible splint. I will be so glad when it's off. It itches.

Afterwards, mom took me to Grandma's house. They had some errands to run for her and left me in the back yard. I was none too happy about that. I wanted to go, too!

After they left I sniffed around the yard a while and to my great delight I found the side gate was open!!! Well, I wasn't going to miss out on having some fun, so I just decided to check things out. I went all around the neighborhood. I must have been a sight with my cone collar on and hopping on 3 legs, but that didn't bother me any. I really got my exercise and ran all over that neighborhood - for 3 hours!!!

I was headed back to Grandma's when I saw mom in her car. She seemed real upset and at first I wasn't sure I wanted to go to her. But I did and she just hugged me and gave me a lot of kisses. She said I gave her a heart attack. I don't know what all the fuss was about. I was having a really good time.

After we got back to Grandma's, mom gave me some water and then played fetch with me. Boy, was that fun. She took my cone collar off temporarily so I could get the ball easier. I didn't want it to end, but it did and that stupid collar went right back on.

Later on, I heard Grandma tell her the next door neighbor kids get into her yard to retrieve their toys they throw over there and don't shut the gate behind them. I think Grandma's going to get a lock now. I guess that means no more adventures.

My foot was hurting a little Friday- nothing I couldn't handle, but mom was worried about me and took me back to the vet's office on Saturday. This time was worse, because they stretched me out and took a lot of x-rays. As it turns out, I have a broken toe!! They put a splint and one of those cone collars on me. I also have to go back every week for the next 6 to 8 week for them to make sure it stays in place and I don't mess it up! Man, what a drag.

Well, it has been a week since my new mom & dad found me and a lot has happened. I was pretty scared at first. I had some bad experiences previously and wasn't sure I could trust anyone. But eventually they showed me they wouldn't hurt me and I started to thaw.

Even though they were nice to me, I was still a little wary - they tried to feed me dog food...YUCK!!! I finally was given some real food (turkey weiners and some cheese). Next I got scrambled eggs. Boy, was I ever glad - because I hadn't eaten in a while. Now I get chicken, roast and lots of other yummy stuff.

They gave me my own pillow and soft blanket and got me a new stuffed toy to chew on and/or snuggle with. I also get to sleep on the sofa. I have two new sisters - Daisy and Lexi (cats). They don't like me very much. I have tried to make friends, but I don't think they're interested. Oh, well. Maybe someday they will like me. (I won't hold my breath, though).

We went to the park the other day (it is right across the street). I was a little nervous at first, but now I can't wait to go. I also met some of mom's human friends. They were nice, but I was really glad to get back home.

I'm supposed to see the vet on Saturday. I'm not sure how that's going to be...more new things. But, mom will be with me, so I know everything will be ok.
