Today I got to go to the Three Dog Bakery for the first time. They were having "free pupcake day" plus a clearance sale.

It was so much fun. I got to meet some other dogs. The first two I met were a little tense and I was a little tense, too, but we just did lotsa sniffing and then our pawrents took us away. I wiggled and wagged back to mom - "Look!! I just met two dogs, wasn't that cool???" and then I got to meet their little bro. But their little bro is just a pup and we wanted to plaaaaaaaay after we sniffed. BOL So we bounced around and got caught up in our leashes and I tried to put my paws all over him 'cause that's so much fun to do but then the little guy got picked up so that he didn't get smooshed. Oooops. BOL. I didn't jump up on his dad and mom thought that was good.

Then the next doggie I met is the official doggie greeter. He's a sheltie. We sniffed and then that was that. He roams around the store and so I saw him again a couple times. There was also a golden retriever but we never went over to meet each other, and there were some 2-legged kids there too but mom didn't let me ask for pets and kisses 'cause she didn't want me to forget myself and jump up on anyone to give kisses.

We practice all the stuff I know (sit, down, target, shake, back) and I was a really good boy. When mom would stop to chat I'd sit there and start whining a bit and the lady behind the counter would say "What's the matter, Stewie?" I don't wanna sit still, I wanna sniff stuff!! Yeah!

Then, mom bought two new toys and at the checkout, I got my free pupcake! There's a little table outside so mom sat down there and gave me my pupcake. It was sooooo good. Yum yum yum!

I wanna go back there! Yeah!

This is "Mom", hijacking Stewie's diary for a moment.

I was out at the bookstore and decided to pop into the near by pet store "just to look". Of course I ended up buying about $25 in toys, after convincing myself that the boys were bored with their latest stock (lots of home-made fleece tuggies, remnants of Stewie's coveted fish toy from two weeks ago, wubbas without tails, lost tennis balls, a really boring rubber tuggie, and the really cool fleece/rope toy that they snubbed for a week or two before ripping it apart with relish) even though I watched them play with stuff just hours before. Well, one can be indulgent sometimes, right? Especially for the sake of others?

But I'm back there in the toy aisles, mentally comparing this store's toy selection to that of two others. This one's falling a bit short, but it tends to be cheap, and I finally decide to get a rope with two tennis balls attached and a mint rope. Good for a satisfying chew, which is what both of the boys seem to be most interested in right now. I handle other sturdy looking toys and feel for squeakers... unfortunately there are many and I know that gutting will happen much too quickly. Stewie has swallowed more than I would like to admit, but it's all come through OK. Oh, except for the time he got the brilliant idea to eat a few rocks. But squeakers still make me nervous so I try not to buy them too often. I look at rubber toys and imagine Stewie gnawing off pieces and swallowing those, too.

Hmm.... so hard to find new toys to keep things interesting!

I'm ready to leave, but see a firehose toy. Stewie had one before but he made quick work of it. But I think "What the heck" and pick the biggest one.

When I get home, have all the labels off, and am ready to distribute toys and lessen any jealousy issues over a brand-new toy, all 3 dogs are crowded around me. I let Stewie have first pick since I want to get something into his mouth before he tries to steal something from wee Emerson. He takes the minty toy and promptly drops it, looking eager. I offer the other rope toy but he pays it no mind at all. His enthusiasm gives way and he's jumping up in excitement. Doubtful, I offer the firehose. He takes it with such glee and immediately trots over to the couch, tail wiggling so hard that the whole of him is wiggling. Emerson settles on the minty rope, which he takes to his crate, and Jasmine (who doesn't play a whole lot anymore) gets a kick out of simply sniffing the rope with tennis balls.

This is not the first time I am left wondering "Why is it always the toy I buy last, on a whim, that they love the most?"

All those toy-aisle deliberations don't matter at all to the dogs.

But luckily, the boys are young, and they warm up to all toys in their own time. I know they will put some wear and tear into these toys. But for now they are quite pleased as punch with what mom brought home from the store! The only thing that could have made them happier was if I had brought them with me. We'll do that next time.

Today Daddy came home from work and, not too long after, took me on a car ride! All right! We were off to Daddy's work. I've been there before, mostly to schmooze with the people he works with. Well, this time we weren't there to visit with people (but that's a perk, too, of course) but to visit with 2 DOGS! Daddy's boss has two older collies. One of them sniffed me and then walked away, and the other was more like Jasmine and did lotsa barking. Well, I didn't want to upset them so I didn't ask them to play or anything like that. It was fun, but we didn't stay for long. It was still nice to get out of the house for awhile, do something fun.

Today mom found a hula-hoop in the shed and got the wild idea to try it out. It makes noise so she rolled it around and left it on the ground for us to investigate. She always made sure we weren't near here before she started hula hoopin'... but I'd march over to check it out. The first time I did that, I got whacked in the face not once but twice! Mom couldn't stop the hoop in time. That didn't deter me from marching over to again and again about five more times (mom stopped the hoop well in advance those times) until finally I didn't care anymore and let mom have her fun.

I also got a new treat today. Mom put a piece of banana into the bottom of our kongs to stop them up. Then she put plain yogurt into the kong. Then she put them in cups and stuck them in the freezer. At that point, all we got to do was lick the yogurt off her fingers. Why was the freezer getting a treat and not us?? But mom explained that they had to sit in there for a few hours and we'd get to eat them later. When "later" came, those kongs were super cold but so yummy!! Mmmm!

And it was probably going to ENJOY IT, too.

Ya'll know what I'm talkin' 'bout. One minute your mom is as nice as could be and is giving you lots of treats for getting in and out of the tub and for doing tricks in the tub. And then she's helping -- HELPING!!! -- the crazy water monster to eat me.

Man, I was almost halfway up the wall backwards like Spidey!!!

Oh, I've had baths before, sure. But I thought it was like a "one time only thing" so I made a mental note to never get sequestered into that same situation again. Oh, how easily I'm fooled.

Even all my pitiful looks didn't make it have any mercy. I did manage to leap out early on, stick my nose into the treat bag for comfort. Mom was a little irritated about that and snatched the treat bag away and then I said "OH NO!! Don't be mad at me, are you mad at me?" and did my usual wiggly kissy routine. I am a sensitive guy, if you haven't caught onto that by now. Anyway, mom just told me to get back into the tub and I said nooooooo but I did go in eventually.

The shampoo massage isn't half bad. The second rinse wasn't as terrible as the first. But ICK, no thank you, I don't think I need another bath in my entire life, OK mom???? I wasn't even that dirty!!!!

Weeeeeelll... not so sure about that "keeps vet away" thing. It just sounded good. "Bird a Day", however, has been totally true! Ever since the grape incident.

3, yes 3, birds. One day after another. Mom is starting to get into the routine of calling all of us dogs in, screeching at Emerson to leave the bird alone and DROP IT!!! (I always am playing with the bird and telling Emerson to stay away, and then when I get up to come into the house Emerson grabs the bird and makes to come into the house with it!!!!) and then shuffling out through the front door, scooping poor bird into poop scoop, and disposing of it. Oh yeah, and then avoiding bird breath kisses for the rest of the day. Hehehe! :)

Mom has yet to see how in the world we catch these darn birds. They are either young or very stupid or both.

I'm havin' a bad day today and it's all those darn grapes' fault!!!!!

See, mom had some grapes for breakfast but forgot to put them back in the fridge. So they were sitting up on the stove. And I thought I might like to have some for breakfast, too, so I finished off the bag (quite a few grapes!).

I would've gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for that meddlin' Emerson! He started rustling the bag to chew on the stem, and that's when mom heard us and knew something was amiss.

So then she was saying "Shame on you all!" and muttering under her breath as she was pickin' everything up. Oh noooo! I hate it when someone's mad at me, so I did all my cute wiggling stuff and put on my best "Sorry mom!! Are you mad at me?? Please don't be mad at me!!" face and remembered to sit like a good boy to show off that I was still a good boy. Mom pet me and let me give her kisses but she was still a bit agitated. Then she got on the phone and talked for a bit and then she hung up and glared at me and Emerson again. Then there was a big SIGH and she got all perky again. Oh whew! So she wasn't mad at us! Then she grabbed a couple things, including this thing called "Hydrogen peroxide" and we all got to go outside.

WELL! Then things got REALLY interesting. That hydrogen stuff got poured down my throat!!! Yuck yuck yuck yuck!! Emerson had to get it, too. We were both coughing and spluttering. Emerson trotted off to eat some grass and soon he barfed. No grapes!

Ten minutes later I had to get more of it down my throat. I really didn't feel good then, but still no barfing. Mom got on the phone again and then I had to get another dose!!! YUCK!!! I didn't really want to get it, I clamped my teeth shut an' everything. THEN I was barfin', and out came a lot of grapes, still perfectly round and looking ready to eat. Mom scooped it all up into the poop scoop and put that out on the driveway. Ooooooh. I don't feel good. When we came in the house I curled up in my crate on my blanket and pouted.

My poor tummy!

Like I said before, Becky and my grandpawrents came. I was a good boy and remembered (well, most of the time) not to jump on anyone. Becky's really cool 'cause she always shares her food with us dogs. Mom never does that!! Grandma likes to pet me but I have to resist the urge to crawl into her lap. Something about me being "too heavy". Grandpa is a little less on the cuddly side but I still tried.

So then my grandpawrents left. Then the next day Becky left and EMERSON came back. Then the next day MAMA left. Wow!!!! Emerson was one of Mama's pups and his home didn't work out so he's back here. I immediately resumed my "Uncle Stewie lessons in wrasslin' and mouth jivin'" with him. Mama went to her new family. They are really excited to be her new family and Mama's gonna have fun there. But now I have no one to really WRASSLE with until Emerson gets the moves down. Hmph.

But, while wrasslin' went down, walks went up! Ya see, Emerson was always quite shy and we're not sure he got out and about in the world enough for the last two months. So mom, who is very bad at keeping a walking schedule, has been surprisingly diligent about getting Emerson and I out for walks. It's lotsa fun. I amble along and don't bat an eye at much of anything, and Emerson pulls a bit and jumps a mile at everything. But he's been getting a lot better really quickly. Yay for Emerson!

Wow, I got to go lotsa places today. I went to two different pet stores and the car rides were pawsome too, of course.

One of mom's former foster pups tore her ACL and is recovery from surgery, so I helped mom pick out the bestest toys ever for a care package. We're sending her a wubba and some bully sticks and a rope ball. Yeah! I got lotsa cheese for paying attention to mom inside the stores. Gosh that's hard. I just LOVE PEOPLE so I want to meet everyone I see. Unfortunately that also means I want to jump on them and give 'em a kiss! Lotsa people think I'm "beautiful" but mom says that's no excuse to have bad manners.

Apparently we're gonna have some guests. Becky's coming back. I met her in December when she stayed for a while. She's PAWSOME to jump on and lick. And my grandpawrents, who I met several months ago at their house, are coming here, too. Mom says I gotta be a good boy. Gosh, I'll try, but it's a hard job, ya know???

This is my very first spring. And boy is it interesting. The grass got tall and thick and then this MONSTER came to eat it all up. I tried biting the monster's "legs" (though mom called them "wheels") to make it go away but everyone kept telling me to knock it off -- even our foster Mama got after me. So then I just followed behind my dad as he pushed the monster around, and when I came in I had green feet. Weird!!! I really don't like that monster.

The birds are out and all over the place. They are crazy.

I've also been working on a lot more stuff. This is what I know (and it is all on voice cue, baby! Yeah!):

Sit
Down
Stay (that one's hard, but I'm pretty good at it. We're always practicing)
High Five
Shake
Target (nose touch)
And we're working on "Back"

Our first week or two was a bit rocky but once we had power back on we got a chance to de-stress and really play. Momma is really great at playing. She also loves toys. We'll run around the yard, wrassle, or play tug.

Her puppies are also really awesome! At first momma didn't want me near her puppies. Now they are weaned and she doesn't mind so much. They crawl all over me and I just love them. They are so cool!!! Jasmine thinks they are scary but I don't get it.

Sooooo much has happened since I last wrote.

We were without power for a week due to an ice storm but we stuck it out with the help of our neighbors (they had power -- we didn't 'cause a tree branch knocked our line down) and with the help of space heaters. We also stuck to just two rooms in the lower level of the house to keep all the warm air in a smaller space. One room was for mom and pups only so that really left just ONE room for us to be in most of the time. Considering that I get bored easily... yeah, it wasn't too pretty...

OH! Have I even mentioned mom and pups? One day my mom showed up with another dog and a crate load of pups. Momma Dog didn't like me too much at first. In fact, she still doesn't really like me but she tolerates me as long as I don't get in the way or try to sneak into the puppy room right after my mom.

So the attention levels went down a bit now that I have to essentially split the love 3 ways! Ack!! I want it to be about me, me, me!!

Jasmine: (haughtily) When are you finally going to get adopted, huh?
Me: Whatcha talkin' 'bout, I already AM adopted!!
Jasmine: (Disgustedly) No no no no, Stewie, every dog that comes here eventually leaves after they are adopted.
Me: But I really AM adopted. I get to stay HERE.
Jasmine: Puh-lease. That's what they WANT you to think.
Me: No it's not. They told me!
Jasmine: But you're reasonably cute and mildly intelligent (sticks nose into the air) so somebody out there must be looking for a dog like you.
Me: Somebody was and they already found me!
Jasmine: Well, I did my job and taught you how to play and all that. Now you're getting too big and you're just annoying me. So find your real home and SHOO already!
Me: Jasmine... I am TOO adopted. See? I have all the real tags and everything
Jasmine: (suspicisouly) Hmmm.....
Me: I really do belong here. SO THERE.
Jasmine: Does this mean I don't have to be nice to you anymore? I can teach you some real manners?
Me: Ummm... well... uh... I don't really know...
Jasmine: (smugly) We'll see about that.

Aw man!! So now she's not lettin' me wrassle with her or play with her like we used to. She's gettin' all annoyed at me and telling me to GO AWAY and leave her alone. How RUDE!!!

So today mom came home and immediately took me for a car ride. That was weird! I hadn't even had time to run off my puppy sillies or give her proper kisses. We were off to the vet for shots. I was super excited at being out and about. The vet office was super busy with several emergencies. I was whining my head off in the lobby because of all the activity but luckily I did not jump up too much. Mom ended up taking me out after only a minute or two after rescheduling me for tomorrow. Boy were they swamped! Since mom had me out of the house she thought we'd stop by a local park. It wasn't very busy at all. I got to explore the creek but didn't dare touch the water. I just sniffed it a lot and got as close as possible. I also saw a couple people skate boarding but I'm not sure I liked it. It was a little freaky and mom had a hard time getting my attention off of them. We didn't stay for very long. Now I've been boooooooored all the rest of the day 'cause no one wants to play with me. No one likes me!! I keep stealing mom's shoes and stuff but she takes 'em right back. It was fun at first but then it was just too much like hard work... I practiced some of my new behaviors today. I'm having a tough time with "leave it" though because I keep thinking maybe mom wants me to "shake"... hmm...

Yesterday was a fun day, too. I got to go for a car ride to Gidget and Beatrice's house but before I went inside, I went for a walk around the neighborhood to "help" Gidget and Bea's pawrents put up signs for their lost kitty cat. Poor boy -- we hope Leo comes home soon. It's cold out there! Then I got to go into the house and play. But all of us dogs (and the people, too!) were pretty tired. Mom expected me to run around with Gidget for hours like we did last time but we just weren't up for it!

Here's something interesting... mom was standing around with a couple friends and gave them treats and asked them to have me "sit". Well, I heard "sit" but assumed it came from mom so that's who I looked at and sat in front of. And then the lady behind me was giving me treats. Weird, huh? They did it again later. Gosh, was I confused. I ended up just sitting in whatever direction I happened to be in and looking from one person to the next like "I know I heard 'sit', now who's got the goodies???"

I'm only 7 months old but I'm starting to learn some serious things about the world. Did you know that there are places out there that don't like dogs that look like me???? That even would prefer me dead???? Please, please, please help me and all the dogs out there like me by being proactive in saying that breed-bans are NOT appropriate solutions to dog bite problems in a community!!!!

Mom had a really weird dream last night involving... me! We were at a zoo of sorts, but it was a weird zoo. There were glass panels separating the animals from the people and the glass panels could rotate and open. Mom gave one a tiny push and it swung wide open, and she was face-to-face with a seal. Then just as fast, the glass panel swung shut again. But somehow, I had managed to duck into the enclosure, run to the end, and disappear out of sight. So then mom was frantic. But apparently it happens all the time so they have this special section in the zoo where you go fill out a form and walk around to find your dog. The lady behind the desk said "When you find your dog, it will be really obvious because he'll run right up to you and be so glad that you found him. It's a moment you will cherish." Mom walked through a couple weird rooms (one had three leather chairs with stone statues sitting in them). Then there were two rooms that were full of large, plush benches. Only you could only assume they were benches, because they were packed entirely full of sleeping dogs. So mom hurried around the room, looking for me. She saw a couple dogs that looked sort of like me, even one that she was sure was my actual brother Bandit, but she couldn't find me. So she kept looking and found a door to the outside, where she looked next. Couldn't find me anywhere. Came back inside, looked in all the same rooms again. Turns out that I was waiting in the front lobby of the zoo for her and that's when things got a little hazy and mom can't remember what happened next.

Weird, huh?

Back to reality: I now have a repertoire of four tricks! I can "sit", "down", "shake" and "high five". Sometimes I even "wave" but that's really just on accident.

Mom and I had a bit of an adventure today. So, I was super excited and acting like a crazy playful fool, pretty much. Mom tried to amuse me by getting a box, gathering up all my toys, putting them in the box, and then letting me root through it to pull out my favorites. It was fun for awhile, but not long enough. I did find my bumble ball and accidentally turned it on and off a few times (it drives me CRAZY!!!!!) and then I accidentally pulled off one of the "spikes" completely so mom said I killed the toy and can't play with it no more.

Even though it was dark and cold outside, mom knew the only thing that would make me calm down was a long walk. So we set out. Mom says we live near an elementary school that has a large playground surrounded by a HUGE field. We've never gone over there before because there would have been kiddos around and mom didn't want me to get too distracted/excited by a bunch of kids running all over the place. At this point, even one person makes me super excited because maybe, just maybe, I'll get to go meet them and give them KISSES!!!! Anyway, the walk there takes about 5-10 minutes but there isnt a sidewalk for the last half. So there mom and I were (she was in crocs by the way and the ground was pretty wet... and did I mention it was cold?) trompin' through the grass and then exploring the playground, the fields, and the baseball diamond.

I also practiced my sits and downs (oh! I know "down" now, did you know that?) on the way there and back. I saw some people coming out of their houses and I looked at them curiously before coming to mom to sit for a treat. :)

Well, to get to the playground you have to walk on a sidewalk between two fenced yards. When we walked through the first time, there were no dogs in either of the yards. But as we were exploring, a dog came out and started barking at us and he never left! So we had to go home a different way, otherwise that dog would have been a foot away from me and barking barking barking. That wouldn't have been too good! Our only options were to walk home along a long stretch of a busy road, or a short stretch of a busy road and then duck into a neighborhood. So we did the latter. Even though we were safely on a sidewalk, the sound of the whooshing cars was a little disconcerting. Then we walked aaaaaall the way home. Whew! All that in the dark! Mom's legs were freezing and her hands had gone numb. And I was still so energetic that I was tossing my bully stick around the living room for a awhile before chewing on it. And then I was a pretty good boy for the rest of the night. :)

OMD, so many things have been happening lately!

First of all, we have a guest in the house! It's momma's sister, Becky. She's a sucker when it comes to dogs, so I jump on her a lot and give her kisses and she gives me treats and throws my toys for me. Things have been a little sedate around here, though. Lotsa "movie nights" after the big day of tearing paper off of a bunch of stuff (it was a lot of fun to play with the paper but mom cleaned it up super fast). I even got three presents addressed to ME! Two were from mom's grandma -- a huge squirrel toy and a sweater that didn't fit me but fit Socks. One was from mom's aunt and it was a box of biscuits! Yay!

Mom received a 15-foot tunnel from "Santa Paws" but she wouldn't let me play in it. Jasmine loved it, though. Mom did let me try out the 2-3 foot tunnel. I seemed bored with it so she started to introduce me to the chute, too. Soon I'll get to go through that 15-foot tunnel! Yeah! But mom said nothing TOO strenuous until this time next year! Aw man!

Also, we have a new puppy neighbor in the house behind us! We share a fence. Jasmine barked and barked and barked so mom had to take her into the house. But I just wanted to play with her and schmooze with the person. It's a very tall picket fence that separates us and I was sticking my paws through it and sniffing and wagging my tail super fast. I even tried digging under the fence to go play with "Prada", a cute 3-month-old bulldog pup. She could be my new best friend!!!!!! I hope Jasmine lightens up around her. Geesh.

In order to accomodate the puppy-eating tree in the living room, the couch had to be pushed in front of the windows. It created a wonderful perch for me! So now it's not uncommon for me to lay or sit on top of the couch (yes, completely on top) and look out the windows. It's so cool!

It's been busy, that's for sure!

OMD I had so much fun yesterday!!!

At first it was a boring day. Freezing cold outside, not much to do inside. So we all sat around and napped while mom sat on the couch and read.

Then later on I got to go for a car ride. How fun! This ride was over 20 minutes long, and we ended at a house. We walked up to the front door and mom knocked on the door. A chorus of barks sounded from the inside which made me perk my ears and wag my tail. Then the door opened and through the glass door I saw 5 beagle faces peering at me! We tried to sniff noses through to glass but it wasn't really working. Then the door opened. A couple of the beagles were held back, but two of them greeted me. Mom led me inside and took off my leash. I ignored the dogs but immediately started exploring the house, including introducing myself to an odd creature named a "cat". Then mom showed me the backdoor and I went outside along with two of the beagles. They just watched me and occasionally followed me around. There were all kinds of super cool toys in the yard and SO many places to explore. It was like a puppy playground! Well, those two beagles tried to play with me a bit but I wasn't really sure about it. So they said "Oh well" and started playing together instead. That made me want to join in the fun! After a few awkward moments in which I wasn't really sure how to play with them (wrestle, run, or pounce???) we all relaxed and ran around and played with toys and had a blast! Those little beagles are fast! They chased me and I chased them. We'd take turns grabbing a toy and running with it while the others tried to grab it back. Those beagles were pretty vocal and at first I didn't understand. When I first tried wrestling with one she made this awful noise. Mom said she was still just playing but I immediately stopped and said "Sorry!!!" then she howled a few more times and I noticed that the other beagle didn't care so I decided I wouldn't care either. But until then, I'd never heard anything like it!!

So my two new best friends are named Gidget and Beatrice!! They were adopted from the same shelter that I was!

Then their Dad came out and we all stopped playing to go say Hi. I LOVE people, nothing makes my tail wag faster, so I of course went right over and jumped on him just like Gidget and Bea and gave him lotsa kisses to tell him just how much I LOVED him!!!

Then we went inside, and that's when things got interesting. I was still all pumped up from having so much fun outside that I was still a little wild in the house. There are 3 more doggies, but they are all sort of grumpy. Buster's a Daddy's boy and he had had a rough life before he came to his forever family. He wouldn't let anyone touch him for a while. But now, like I said, he's a Daddy's boy, so he'd bark at me whenever I would get close to his Daddy while he was sitting in his lap. One time I forgot all about that and wanted to jump on the couch to give his Daddy some more kisses, but Buster barked at me. I immediately hid my head between his Daddy's arm and the chest of Annie, a coonhound, and then slid off the couch. Annie is also a bit of a pill. One time I thought it would be fun to jump on the couch (away from buster, of course) but I jumped on Annie in the process and she let me know that she was not happy. So I turned my head away and slunk off again. After that I decided that I would just avoid the couch entirely. So then I went into the kitchen. There's a cat in there that I went over to meet. She's very old and a little sickly. I wagged right over and sniffed her good and then licked her on the head with such exuberance that I almost knocked that fragile kitty right over. She let out an affronted "meerow..." after that and that's when Wink, the last beagle, came over. He's a little socially awkward, in a shy way. So he told me "Hey... um, uh, um, that's my friend Louisa and, um, uh, she's 17, and, uh, you shouldn't be so rough with her, and, uh, um, uh.. yeah, if you do that again I might have to, well, I might have to stand in front of her and, uh, you know, protect her...." And so I walked away. After all, Gidget and Bea were up to something in the bedroom!!

There are toys ALL over this house. It's the best place EVER!! Gidget and Bea were up on the bed, wrasslin' a bit and playing toys. So I joined in the fun. Mom never lets me wrestle on the bed at home since it's "home base" for Jasmine -- a place where she can go if I'm getting to be too much for her. Well, here the bed was a playground! So we played tug, we wrassled, and we pounced. It was SO MUCH FUN!! That kept me away from the 3 grumpies.

So then I followed some of the people into another room. I innocently walked past a chair and I heard some odd growling. I looked up and there was another cat. I said "Hi, I'm Stewie!" and that cat hissed and smacked me!! And then she smacked me a few more times!! I said "Sorry!!!" and ducked out of there, getting a little caught in the Christmas tree as I went, but mom caught me and got the lights off of my foot. Whew!

One time, Wink was standing in the kitchen and I "drive by licked" him. He never saw it coming. If he had, he would have growled at me for sure but instead he didn't do anything. I was too fast for him and I just LOVE giving kisses! He was laying in his dog bed later and I thought I'd try it again, so I walked up and licked his nose. He didn't mind so much. He did mind, however, when I tried putting my paw on him. Oops!

Well then it was time for some downtime in the living room. All the people were sitting and 4 of the dogs were in a dog pile on the couch, but Buster was curled up in a dog bed. My mom was sitting in a chair next to his dog bed, and I curled up in the dog bed on the other side of the chair. I'd never been in a dog bed before! But it was really cool. I thought it was like a gigantic stuff toy that you could sit in, so I tried to chew on it but mom kept bringing me other toys instead. Then I thought I saw something under mom's chair and poked my head under it. I found a piece of cardboard and started chewing on it. Then I ducked my head under the chair again. That's when Buster started growling at me. He was looking at me and didn't like that I was looking at him, too, I guess. Mom tapped me on the shoulder so that I'd bring my head out from under the chair. Then Gidget got up and stood in front of Buster and barked at him for about a good minute: "Buster, you are SO rude! Stewie didn't do anything to you and you keep growling at him!! Stop being mean, Buster! He's our guest and he's MY friend! How dare you! He's just a wee pup!" Gidget the defender. Bea will bark for justice too. BOL!

We had been there for almost three whole hours, and it was getting late and mom said it was time for us to go back home. I was like a sack of potatoes in the car, I was so sleepy. I got home and curled up on the couch. What a loooong day but so much fun! Mom says we'll get to go back a lot!!!

I went to Petsmart the other day. It was my first time inside a store. Boy did I love it! My tail was wagging so hard and I wanted to check out EVERYTHING. Mom kept having me come back and sit for her. Whenever I saw a person I would get SOOO excited, 'cause maybe they were going to pet me! I love to be pet! But most people just looked at me funny and walked around me or in the other direction. I was getting pretty disappointed. I would try to jump up on people as they walked by but mom said that that was a no-no and that I need to sit if anyone wants to pet me. Oh! Well I know how to sit reeeeeaally well, so I saw a couple people coming and I sat at the end of the aisle, wagging my tail as hard as I could without it lifting me off the ground ('cause I had to stay sitting, you know). But they turned around and went the other way! Aw man! So finally mom showed me the "Hotel" and the staff there happily gushed over me. Then we ran into the trainer who gushed over me, too. Then I got to sniff some kitty-cats sleeping in their cages, and then I got to go hang out at the check out counter while mom paid for some Christmas cards and I schmoozed with the clerk and got treats! Yay!!

I was even a good boy in the car! It was SO much fun!

I didn't get to meet any dogs, but I saw a couple.

Mom says that soon she's going to take me over to a friend's house. Apparently there are 5 doggies there waiting to meet me, and two of 'em would love to wrestle with me! Yay!

Okay, okay, so that's a little exaggerated. But it WAS out to get me!!

Here's what happened: mom was throwing toys for me in the house, and one of them happened to go whizzing underneath the tree. However, I could easily reach it if I just ducked down and scooped it up, so I went for it. I started backing up to go play some more, but the tree started to come with me! I started to back up furiously and the tree just kept coming!! It had me in a choke hold!! It was going to EAT ME!!

So that's why Mom had always been telling me to stay away from the tree! It eats puppies!!

Mom was right there and by the time I had dragged the tree a couple of feet, she had her arms around me and told me to calm down. I stopped moving and so did that darn tree. She started fumbling with my collar and was trying to find the buckle thingy to push on and make my collar come off, but she managed to get me unstuck from the tree instead. I was so relieved that I sat there and licked my momma's chin for a while. She saved me!! Then we went back to playing with toys.

Also, Jasmine and Socks keep saying something about a Santa Paws but I don't know who that is. A couple boxes came in the mail and there were more boxes inside. Mom said they were from relatives -- and would you know that I've gotten more presents from them than mom has? Hehehehehe!

Weeeell... I had my first encounter with a "squirrel" today. Jasmine is always chasin' after these things but I didn't really understand. She said that she's caught them before, as well as birds and rabbits and chipmunks. But today she streaked across the yard like LIGHTNING.

(Well, actually, the Furless don't know who caught it, me or Jasmine, but all bets are on Jasmine. She's got talent).

She bit that squirrel in the bushes and brought it out to the middle of the yard to show it to me. We started to have a little fun with it. It wasn't dead so it would move it's legs a little, which would send us into a tizzy and we'd bounce around and poke at it. I really wanted to pick it up and see if it would squeak like my Loofah toy ('cause I just LOVE to squeak my Loofah toy) and there was this bushy part (Jasmine called it the tail) sticking out. I thought it would be safer to grab that part anyway. So I grabbed it and started dragging it a little, and next thing I know that little FIEND has whipped around and bitten my toe!!!! So I let go of it's tail and then I said "OW! I call uncle!!" and tried nipping at it to make it let go, but then the pain really started to hit home so I started spinning and shaking my leg and yelping at Jasmine: "Get it off!!!" and Jasmine was certainly trying her best to grab that squirrel off of my toe, but she couldn't get at it very well. Then it finally came off. Mom showed up a split second after and came to get me in the house. She had seen what had happened through the window. I was bleeding. So she picked me up and cleaned me up while someone else called the vet. The vet thinks I will be OK, I just have to have my paw cleaned to prevent infections. So I had my first paw-soaking. It was OK. One of the other furless went outside to put the poor squirrel out of it's misery since we didn't do a very good job of that ourselves.

Well!! I don't think I want to mess with those squirrels any more! I'll leave squirrel duty to Jasmine.

Apart from my paw, I also have a scratch under my eye and a cut on my lip. Umm... yeah, don't laugh 'cause I got beat up by a squirrel, OK??

Yesterday I had to go to the vet for the second time. I had to go in the first time 'cause I had a bit of a cough. I got some medicine but it didn't really work, so I had to go back in yesterday. I got my first x-ray and spent over an hour at the vets, but I like the ladies that work there so it's all good. I have bronchitis and pneumonia! Icky icky! So I'm on two different medicines and I'm supposed to be in the bathroom whenever anyone is taking a hot shower. The people also have to firmly pat my ribs a couple times a day for 3-4 minutes to loosen up nasty stuff in my lungs, per the vet.

BUT! I do have my energy back. I was a sick little boy the last few days, but now I'm ready to go again!

Yesterday I was at the shelter with my brother. A nice lady came to our kennel and picked me up but left my brother behind. She brought me to a room and put me in a cage. Eventually I came out but then the next thing I know, I woke up and was super sleepy. I found out later that I had been "neutered". Several hours later, another nice lady came to get me. She put a leash on me and I wobbled all the way to the other end of the shelter, where some nice people that I had met a couple days earlier were waiting. I piddled a bit on the floor on accident. Then one of them picked me up. I slept on her lap for the car ride home (not so sure I like those car rides -- they aren't very fun after you've had surgery). Then I was carried into a house and this doggie was sniffing me. I spent the next 2-3 hours being passed from lap to lap, sleeping the whole time. When I started to wake up pretty good, I got to go outside and I immediately pottied and pooped. They were happy about that. When it was time to go to bed, I got carried upstairs and put in a crate in a room. My new Dad slept in his bed while I slept in mine. The night was uneventful. Dad and I were the first ones up in the morning. I had gotten a lot of rest and now I was ready to PLAY! We had lotsa fun this morning. Unfortunately I have "kennel cough" so tomorrow Dad is going to take me to the "vet" so that I can get some medicine.

The dogs here are pretty cool. Socks tries to bite my nose if I get too close. Jasmine lets me put my paws all over her but she is never really happy about it. She doesn't really want to play too much. She's still figuring me out.

Socks is old (but don't tell her I said that) and she has to have acupuncture treatments every two weeks. Well, today was one of her treatments. I had to stay in my crate the whole time so that I didn't put my nasty kennel cough snot on Dr. L, but since I had a full view of the session, Dr. L kept looking at me and telling me I was really cute. I had a fun time in my crate. I had my first peanut butter kong (OMD, I LOVE peanut butter) and bully stick.

After that I was restless and ready for some action. Apparently I'm not supposed to do much jumping or running 'cause it'll hurt me where I got neutered. So they try to keep me on leash as much as possible. I was playing with my toys a lot (I especially like the loofa -- I whip that around a whole lot, but the first time I made it squeak I literally jumped up in surprise) but I lost interest and then I got a little restless. So I went out on my first walk down the street. I saw some people and I saw some cars. A couple dogs barked at me. I got to walk through a bunch of leaves, too. Then I got to eat some yummy food. Then I tried to play with Jasmine but she wasn't really havin' it. So then I settled down and laid on the couch. Now I'm back to being restless again.

It is tough stuff to be a pup!

By the way, they don't really know what they are calling me. "Spuds" is a popular choice.
