Deogie is feeling a bit better. He takes Deramaxx daily and one Tramadol in the morning but the vet is hoping to take him off the Tramadol sooner than later. He started laser therapy and it seems to be helping. After his first laser treatment he actually slept through the night on the floor and not laying on me for comfort, such a great feeling knowing he was sleeping soundly. He had his second treatment today and he's even more relaxed. Friday will be his 3rd treatment and I will find out what his upcoming schedule will be for the weeks to follow. Laser is expensive but seeing him laying on the floor with less pain is worth every single penny.

As some of you know it was Deogie's 4th birthday on July 4th and I would like to thank everyone for the gifts and well wishes that were sent to him that day. Big hugs going out to all of you.
His day started out well. Visiting, presents and a huge steak done just right on the bbq, After dinner I was enjoying my cup of coffee and saying to hubby that I can't believe it's been 4 years since Deogie entered this world and our lives, the day was absolutely perfect until......
Deogie was in the backyard doing his business and when he was done ran full speed back onto the porch and jumped on me without notice. Coffee went flying, chair almost tipped and he almost knocked the wind out of me he slammed me with such force. I knew immediately his disc disease hit him with another round of pain and he needed his Mom to make things better. Hubby needed to get Deogie off me, (Deogie 130, me 95 pds.) his full body weight leaning onto me but he started to panic at the thought of being taken from me so i needed to calm him down before he hurt me or himself any further. He relaxed some and hubby was able to get him on the ground. When Deogie is like this he needs to be cuddled, he prefers to be on you but that's impossible with his size. Instead I lay on the floor or make room for him on the couch, as long as I'm touching him it makes him feel better. Love can go a long way in treatment. I have been laying on the floor with him for 3 days now.
Thankfully, he hasn't lost mobility this time, his body is curved to the right side, but he can still walk. This time the pain has lasted longer. Usually after 24 hours he's feeling much better but now 3 days with 2 different pain meds he's still feeling the effects of the disease.
The vet tells me some day he just won't be able to get up, but that some day is NOT this day. Him and I will lay on the floor and get through this together just like last time and the times to come.
I will keep you all posted.

I got to meet the new baby. He smelled ssoooo good and I'm proud to say I controlled my drool. Mom held him while I introduced myself and with one sniff I knew instantly that this was a new member of my family that I will love and protect always.
Another exciting thing, the Easter Bunny came and left me lots of oh so yummy treats and toys. Dad says Mom should clean out my toybox, but Mom says she can't part with anything because I have my puppy toys in there as well. Mom says she might box up some toys but she'll NEVER get rid of them, BOL, Mom is such a sentimental softy.
I have a vet appointment next week to get my lip checked. Mom doesn't think it's gotten better but thankfully it hasn't gotten worse. I will keep you posted.

Fellow Dogster's, I'm ssssoooo excited. My furless sister had a new edition to our family. A healthy baby boy born April 13, 2011 weighing in at 7.25 pds. I haven't met him yet, Mom's been going to their house to help but she tells me soon he will make his first visit. The family will be here for Easter and I will do my best NOT to drool all over him in my excitement. Mom's brought me the baby's blanket from the hospital and I already know gentle, so I'm good to go. Bring me baby...WOOHOO!!!!!

Things have thawed here quickly with the warmer weather and rain. Our in ground pool has had a nice layer of thick ice that Deogie always tried to walk across during the winter months. We would tell him "get off" but at times he figured the pool was the quicker route, it was frozen....COOL!!!! He was in the backyard with a bad case of the zoomies and figured the pool was the fastest way to get where he was going. He ran full tilt not realizing the thick ice had quickly melted to a thin layer. All 120 pds of Deogie broke through the remaining ice and hit the water. Thankfully, I am always outside with Deogie and was only steps away to help guide him to the edge of the pool. He was so confused, scared and defiantly not very graceful as he made his way. Deogie HATES the water and has never swam in his almost 4 years of life. A pool with 8 ft of water, pool stairs not installed, a wet 120 pd thrashing dog and me all of 95 pds. home by myself. I reached down, grabbed him by his collar and pulled him out like he was a chihuahua, BOL. He sat doe eyed and soaking wet as I cuddled him making him feel safe again. This coming winter, a make shift fence around the pool until the thaw.

Update on Deogie's vet appointment. The vet isn't quite sure at this point what is going on and didn't want to put him through a painful tests so we have chosen a round of antibiotics for 10 days to see if this clears it up. If the lump gets worse then she will need to due further testing and this involves a needle in a very sensitive spot, so paws crossed it clears up.
Deogie is off to the vet on Friday to have his lip examined. It started out as a little bald spot on his upper lip where his tooth sits.
Weather has warmed up to a reasonable -3 degrees so walking was much more enjoyable today. It was quite lovely with the snow falling and the quiet of the fields was relaxing. Deogie is feeling much better and romped around like a puppy again, LOVED IT!
Deogie and I have booked a visit day tomorrow. People have been missing him, so we will do our rounds to spread the Deogie love.
A quick weigh in at the vets will be our first stop.
His groomer, who is awesome, will be next. Deogie is on her feel good schedule, the day I phone she will fit Deogie into her schedule for that day.
The lady at his pet store is next to feel the Deogie love. She adores Deogie. Special treats are always given and she's known as Deogie's Auntie.
Of course the drive through at Timmie's is in order, so he gets his timbit from the ladies at the window.
He loves all the attention. So gentle, cuddly and the first to give a paw for some loving.

Deogie is wonderful today.
He's loving all the furniture moved out. We removed the coffee table out of the living room, if he fell I didn't want him to hit his head. We removed other tables throughout the house as well, in order to keep him safe.
I have to be honest and say I'm quite thankful about the exercise restriction the past few days. It's been -25 to -27 degrees and a quick walk is all my body can take, even with all my gear I wear. BOL
I want to thank everyone for their concern about Deogie. Means the world to me. Even though you've never met him, you still have love in your heart for him and his family. Hugs to you all.

The vet said we will have good days and bad. Some days full of energy and then the next he may have paralysis, we will medicate as needed. We just need to wait out the bad days. It took almost 24 hours for him to gain mobility this time and the vet warned one day he may not get up again.
Deogie's appointment went well.
The vet noticed some stiffness in his left hind leg but other than that everything was good.
He's lost 5 pds, so we need to keep an eye on that. I'll be taking him in every other day for a quick weigh in. His appetite has been low but considering his pain, it's understandable.
The vet mentioned with his condition these episodes can be expected at any given time and we can only medicate and make him comfortable. Can it get worse? Yes, it can. Can it get worse quickly? Yes, it can. My mind is NOT thinking the worse, NO WAY!!!
We are going to start laser therapy in the next couple weeks. It may or not help, but it's worth a shot.
Deogie and I will also be doing physical therapy at home.
Day by day, we take it slow and easy.

Deogie is feeling much better today. His stance is almost straight and his walk is much more steady. His 2 pain meds make him sleep more but rest is what he needs during this time of healing. He's on exercise restriction for 2 weeks, (like before) then slowly introduce walks back into his daily routine.

The cat ignores Deogie, has since day one, but this week she actually showed some affection towards him. She rubbed against him a few times and head butted his face when he was laying down. It was sweet to see. Maybe she sensed something was wrong with him, she got extra treats for being so nice. Even when Deogie was sleeping in my bed, she curled up in the bed with him, normally she'll find another resting place. She's back to ignoring him, deep down I think she misses his big nose sniffing her all the time.

A little poem I wrote for Deogie.

Good days and bad, we get through them together
Sunshine and storms, no matter the weather.

I lean on you, you lean on me
Deogie and I, will always be.

As I watch you in pain, there’s little I can do
But curl up beside and cuddle with you.

I rub your nose and stroke your ears
Whisper “good boy” to ease your fears.

My hand on you, I feel you shake
I say aloud the promise I make.

I’ll do all I can, no matter the price
Never a second would I think twice.

I wipe the drool from your face
You give me kisses with doggy grace.

I know you love me and same goes
As I kiss you back on your nose.

Your body is limp but together we’ll stand
Together as always, paw in hand.

We’ll get through it, like times before
But for now we’ll rest on the floor.

You will rise when the time is right
But for now give no fight.

Relax, calm down, I’m here with you
Together we will make it through.

His stance is still turning to the left slightly but it's not as bad as it was yesterday. What I mean by this, instead of standing body straight, his body semi circles to the left, his head pointing to his behind.
He's eating, drinking and doing his business outside, so things are looking pretty good today.

Deogie has gained his mobility but had a painful afternoon. 2 pm he wanted cuddles and this is a sure sign he's in pain. He will literally try to climb onto my lap to get as close as possible to me. Again we laid on the floor until the pain and shakes faded. Gentle muzzle rubs, ear stroking, light body massage and hearing my voice calms him down.
I try so hard to be strong for him but it's tough sometimes. Me freaking out, only freaks him out more, so my emotions are kept in check when he needs me. Stay calm, stay level headed, stay strong I keep telling myself even though my heart is breaking and my mind is worried sick.
Deogie is now outside sleeping on the porch. His one pain med tends to make him sleepy, which is good because he needs a peaceful nights rest.

I needed to go to work today, so my daughter stayed with Deogie.

I work part-time a few days a week and Deogie has gotten used to me being away a few hours while I work. He will normally greet me at the door, full body wiggle and head squeezed between my legs while I bend over and give him a big body hug. I miss him as much as he misses me.

Tonight however instead of being greeted with a body wiggle I was greeted by an overly excited doggy tackle. I walked through the door and he couldn't stop the Deogie love. He cornered me in the doorway and wouldn't allow me to pass until he was satisfied that all was well again.

My goodness I LOVE LOVE LOVE my baby.

Deogie is BORED!!!! Mom is BORED!!!! We haven't left the house since this has happened. I have been to work once, left Deogie with a sitter, other than that we have went no where.

Deogie no longer needs to be confined to a small space but exercise or playtime is not allowed. Deogie has explored his toybox to the bottom, bringing me one toy at a time in hopes I will play tug of war, he's in and out of the house 100 times a day, he's poking, heading butting, barking and pawing trying to tell me its walk time.

My house is spotless, I've started watching soap operas and I like them, I even vacuumed by broom today.

We both miss our outings to the back field, the dog park or out shopping, Deogie loves Home Depot. One more week, WOOHOO!!!!

Coco Rose your a sweetie. Hugs to you. And yes I was being lazy, BOL.

Deogie's vet called and he is off the Tramadol, WOOHOO!!!!! His vet is very happy with his progress and in a week we can start going for short walks, Deogie will be very excited about this. I have to go and purchase a harness this week. Not sure now he's going to like it, I'm sure he'll make a fuss at first. I'll get him used to it around the house before taking big boy on the street. I'll be sure to post a pic of his fancy new gear.
The vet warned me that the paralysis he experienced could happen again. I hope for much later but she said it could be sooner.....let's go with later, much much later.

All in all Deogie is back to his wonderful self and he's bored out of his mind. I try to keep him amused. I sing, dance, tell him jokes but he doesn't seem to enjoy it as much as I do. :o)

Big hugs and drool kisses, Kathy and Deogie

Yeap, battle of wills has started. He wants to get out of the house so bad. He gives me his "lets go" bark, and looks at me with that cute head tilt....he's trying to break me people but it's NOT going to happen.

I cannot believe how much better he looks today. The vet is calling me tomorrow and by what I'm seeing, he will most likely be weaned off the Tramadol.

I found this poem and it made me think of my friends on Dogster. Enjoy.

Screen Friends

by Miasartiff

My husband has finally gone to work
My children have finished their play
they've gone to bed their stories read
Now it's my time of day.

I've had one of those days
you know what I mean
so I sit back and relax
and turn on my screen.

I'll talk to all my friends
who know just what to say
to make my stresses go
and my troubles fade away.

My friends you're always there for me
whenever I feel blue
and though we've never met before
I know our friendships true.

And although we haven't been friends for long
in this short time it seems
we shared so many things already
our hopes, our fears, our dreams.

We come from different walks of life
but we share a common bond
and it's time to say that of all of you
I've grown so very fond.

So thank you friends for being there
whenever I've needed you
I know you're always there for me
and you know I'm there for you.

You have no idea how much you all have helped me through this and I appreciate it so much. Your support, kind words and encouragement have really helped keep me fairly sane through all of this.

Day by day Deogie is feeling better. He was able to move his neck to the left today while he was looking at me. Having no mobility and now being able to slightly move it was a wonderful moment. When we go outside to pee his walk is even better. Can't wait until tomorrow to see the improvements.

I have contacted a chiropractor who travels to our city, he mainly does horses but he is willing to fit Deogie into his schedule. After his period of rest and an okay by his vet, we can set something up.

I was talking to his groomer and she says the grooming techniques will change but we can continue his styling when Deogie is up to it. It will now be a 2 person job, on the floor and no neck restraint. He will have enough room to lay down if he feels the need to do so.

I was talking to his pet food supplier and they set me home with a box of yummy treats, Deogie's favorite. The owner is great, she refers to herself as Deogie's Aunt.

I have a friend looking into building a larger ramp to get Deogie in and out of the vehicle. Deogie does have a store bought ramp that I purchased before this and he refuses to go near it. Maybe it's too thin, maybe it needs sides but we need to figure out a way, because he is no longer allowed to jump. Maybe a larger ramp that we can store in the garage and just wheel it out to the vehicle. They have one at the vet, same one I'm thinking, so my friend is going to check it out and see what he needs to build it.
We also have a few steps leading from our back deck to the yard and a ramp is being build there as well.

I have sitters set up for the few days I work next week. I took all this week off in order to stay with him, my boss knows I love love love Deogie and needed to be home.

I guess I got a lot of bases covered today. I will do everything I can to make Deogie's life easy and comfortable.

Thanks again to you all. Deogie has so much support. Family, friends, our community and of course Dogster.

The vet phoned today and checked in. She's going to call Monday to see how's he's doing and will probably wean him off the Tramadol but keep him on the Deramaxx. She thinks this is our best option for treatment for the long run.

Good news, his hips are wonderful.

Deogie is feeling a bit better today. Had some breakfast, his meds and is now resting more comfortably.

I gave him his pills in a treat but he yelped moving his neck the slightest. My vet called and a neck brace may be needed if he doesn't improve. Eating may be too difficult for him, so I think I will hand feed him for awhile so he can relax and love being served. ...

Horrible day today and I'm exhausted, confused, extremely hurt and in need of some Dogster love.

I will start off giving you a little history about my big boy. Deogie is 3 1/4 years old neutered at 6 months and very large for his breed, even his breeder tells me he's "freakishly large" compared to the other pups she has had. Never any sign of anything amiss, except for steady slow steps going up stairs, his vet blamed it on his large size, otherwise full of energy. Large breed holistic puppy until the age of 2, advised by vet, then holistic adult. He has colitis but has been under control for many months. His thyroid was recently tested, a little off but no medications yet. He is ideal weight for his size. Now to what happened last night.

All day and night Deogie acted, played and ate normal, it was just like every day before that. Around 12:30 am, my daughter and I were shutting things down to head to bed. Deogie sensing it was bed time, woke from sleeping on the sofa and stepped down to continue sleeping outside my bedroom door. He took about 3 steps through the livingroom and collapsed, screaming in pain. He basically face dove on the floor, had no use of his legs, his head curled under his body in obvious pain. I immediately ran over, not sure what to do but stayed near to make sure he avoided furniture. He managed to get up but staggered into the doorway where once again he collapsed, I tried to ease his fall, same scenario. He regained some use of legs, but still unsteady, seemed disoriented for about 10 minutes. I sat on the floor with him and he literally tried to crawl onto my lap, he needed comfort. At this point, finished talking to the vet and we made our way out the door. Whimpering in pain, drooling excessively and trembling. He didn't want to leave my side so I sat in the back with him laying across my lap, petting his face and telling him he was good boy, as my daughter drove. Surprisingly I remained quite calm on the outside, he was stressed enough, he didn't need to worry about me. We got to the vet.

The vet did her exam and she immediately knew something was going on, either neurology or spinal. He can't move his neck to the left, his hind legs are straight without mobility and his feet are turned outwards. She checked his reflexes, and she said his paws knuckle, so his recover time is very slow. Sedated and in for tests. Diagnosis, Wobblers disease.cry

Strict exercise restriction, crated for 14 days. He is on 75mg of Deramaxx-non steroidial for pain and inflammation once a day, and 100mg of Tramadol for pain management every 8 hours. No collar, only harness when we start taking him for walks in a couple weeks, if approved by vet. The vet wants to try treatment without steroids, we all know what long term steroid use can do, so let's hope this option works.

The first thing that came to my mind was, "is this MY fault for getting him neutered at such a young age????" Maybe it is, my mind is racing and my heart is breaking at the thought this could have been avoided if I made a different choice. Researching and finding out neutering before sexual maturity can cause some skeletal issues. Maybe it's genetics, I have no idea.

I have talked to my vet, researched and I still have questions. I hope some of you may have some experience with this in order to help with some of my questions throughout this unknown, concerning, hurtful time.
I'm trying to think positive, "he's going to get better", it's only been one day but seeing him like this is heartbreaking. Will he live the life he once had, still able to run through our back fields free or will he need to be harnessed for always? The vet said he will remain on pain meds throughout his life, so I can assume he will be in some pain throughout his life. I have NO idea what's coming and there's nothing scarier than the unknown.

Thank you so much for reading this very long forum and thank you for allowing me to cry on all your shoulders.

As I finish typing I look at Deogie once again with tear filled eyes and he's finally sleeping.

The good news: The truck is in pretty bad shape, yes believe it or not that is the good news. They drove it through the woods, so needless to say the body is scratched, dented, mirrors broke off, and they drove it right into a tree. Once it's released from the cop compound, we can have our insurance agent let us know what's happening next. I thought my Dad was going to cry...BOL...when he seen her.

The bad news: My donut was still there but it was hard as a rock. Dad had to throw it in the garbage. SO SAD!!!! I guess these people didn't know the value of a really good donut.

Oh man, my Mom and Dad didn't have a good night last night. Here's the story.

My Mom and Dad went to a Celebration of Life for my Mom's best friends Mother who passed away. They stayed for a couple hours and after some tears, a lot of laughs they were coming home to me. They were walking through the parking lot and soon discovered their truck was GONE!!! A brand new truck they just purchased a few weeks ago. My Dad also just put in about $10,000 dollars worth of upgrades....he's very sad. Oversize tires, new stereo system, tunnel cover, lift kit, chrome..etc. My Dad worked really hard for that truck and it ticks you off when someone just takes it away so easily without a thought. It was locked and alarm set, the police officer says it takes them seconds to get into your vehicle. Mom still has hopes they find it, but Dad has little hope.

That was their sucky night but things will get straighted out soon and I'll be once again cruising in style.

Have a good one all.

Wow, I guess I should have a talk with my typist about keeping my diary up to date...geez it's been too long.
Things have been going well for me. Winter is wonderful. Our pool is frozen now and I quite enjoy laying on it but Mom is always telling me to get off. Last year I started to poop and pee on it and she's all worried I'll start doing that again. Mom says it's not so bad when it's frozen but when it starts to thaw and I'm still going on it, she starts to FREAK out. She's all worried I'm going to fall through the ice, then she'll need to call the fire department to get me out. Whenever she see's me on it, she opens the door and tells me to get going. I don't see what the issue is but Mom's the boss.

I was sick for awhile and the diagnosis, I have colitis. Mom has me on a great diet but the only thing that SUCKS, I don't get very many treats. I suppose that's okay, since I'm gaining weight again and I haven't been sick in months. It's no fun feeling sick, I hate when my tummy hurts.

I got my first boo boo ever. I had an abscess on my paw. Mom noticed one morning I had a small red swollen spot on the side of my paw that was bleeding a little bit. We went to my wonderful vet and he said it was nothing to worry about. He cleaned it up, gave Mom some antibiotic wash, bandaged me up and I was on my way. Mom thought it was a huge deal but honestly it was nothing on my part. Mom tends to worry and that's okay...she loves me A LOT.

My best friend Jasper, he's a samoyed, moved away. I miss him. I know a lot of dogs but I only play with a few and he was one of the few. He's on Dogster, that is where we first met. His Mom was moving here and pawmailed my Mom about our city. We all met when she was settled and we became best friends instantly. We are hoping to see him soon, maybe during the summer.

It's my bed time so bark at you all soon.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Mom thinks it's pretty awesome seeing where you all live and she loves showing you all off to all her furless friends.

Hope everyone has a safe Canada Day. We are heading down to our local park for the celebrations but Mom reassured me I'd be home before the fireworks start, I want no part of that. Like what the heck is that all about anyway??? Loud noises, people screaming, weird lights in the sky, not my thing....let's go home.

Wow, I am one of the picks today for diary entries, pretty cool.

Mom isn't very happy right now. She took me to the vet yesterday, I wasn't feeling well. Diarrhea, a bit of vomiting and not eating much. I'm now being treated for Giardia, some nasty parasite living in my intestines. The vet said I could have been infected by drinking water that was infected, the only water I drink besides home is at my daycare. Mom always has my own water bottle while we are out walking. The vet said sometimes this doesn't show up in a fecal sample, so if this doesn't clear up my symptoms, than I need bloodwork. Don't like that much. She wants to start off simple before spending a bunch of money for other tests. She'll want to check for failing immunity or something else causing me problems. Mom is worried of course, I keep telling her I'm okay but she'll still worry.

Well, have a good one all. Bark at you soon.

Wow, I guess it's been awhile since I wrote an entry, so here it goes.

My Mom bought me the FURminator today. She was so excited she picked me up from daycare, fed me, and then told me we needed to get at it. She loved it, me not so much. As some of you know, grooming is NOT one of my favourite things to do. I could think of much better things to be doing, like napping, I love napping. She posted a picture of how well it works after only 15 minutes. I gave her 15 minutes, that's it, but she says tomorrow is another day. Maybe I'll sleep in tomorrow, she could possibly forget.....yeah I doubt it to.

My feline sister celebrated her birthday today, she is 8. Mom bought her some toys, that she will never play with but I guess it's the thought that counts. She also got her favourite canned food for her dinner and I was shocked, I wasn't even allowed to have any. What kind of party was that, eh?

My furless sister got a new dog, a Bichon named Bella, they think she is around 5 years old. They tell me she's a puppy mill dog, but I don't really know what that is, Mom just tells me she lived a hard life. Mom also told me to be nice to her when she comes to visit, so I do try and encourage her to play but she never wants to, she just follows me around. She's a quiet little girl but that's okay, I'll do all the barking around here. She really doesn't like humans too much, but she is coming around.
Mom was thinking of possibly adopting one of these dogs but in no way do I want another fur living fulltime in my home. They can visit but they need to leave when it's cuddle time with Mom. When Mom tries to cuddle with Bella I move right in and try to sit in my Mom's lap. Geez, your a visitor little girl, this is my Mom.

Mom is taking me to the vet tomorrow for a check-up. She says I don't look right, whatever that means. My Mom takes me to the vet for every little thing but I guess that's a good thing. She wants me around for many many years. I'll keep you posted.

Well bark at you all soon.

Oh my goodness!!! You should have seen what I saw today. I have to admit I was quite interested by this strange new creature but a little afraid at the same time. I really didn't know what to do, it was a good thing by Mom was there.
We were in our back field, I was sniffing and exploring like I always do. I approched the creek and I seen something quite different from anything I have seen before. I approached with caution, not quite sure if this was friend or foe. I tip-toed forward and gave a little sniff, hhmmm still not sure what to think. I pawwed the ground just to see if I got a reaction from this strange new fellow on MY stomping grounds. Nothing, it didn't move an inch. I started to circle, getting a little more excited about my new discovery. Mom noticed my interest and came over to see what the heck I was so interested in. She approached and gave me my command to "leave it", uh Mom I was starting to have some fun. When we continued on our walk she told me I was trying to play with a snapping turtle, and I guess this is not a good thing to play with. I was a little confused why his head totally disappeared, I was thinking, "dude that's weird!!!" but Mom explained it to me, and honestly I still think it's weird. You should have seen this thing, it was HUGE!!! His shell was bigger than a dinner plate. Mom told me we will be avoiding that area for awhile and I think that is best. Anything that can make his head disappear just freaks me out.

My dearest Deogie,

I know you think the groomer is boring but sometimes you need a bit more attention. get "cleaned up" a little better. Your friends are important I realize that but I think they can go without you for one day. Playing ball, peeing on bushes and flirting with the girls is fun but sometimes you need to take a break and do something else, something boring as you say.

Of course you don't stink, but you still sometimes need a bath. A couple times a year isn't going to harm you now is it. Deogie honey, it really isn't that bad, admit it. The water is warm, the shampoos smell good, they give you lots of treats and tons of attention, they love you and you love them. It will be over in no time.
I know and they know you have sensitive ears, I promise everything will be just fine. No need to worry about that.

I love your fur but not all over my house. A clump here, a clump there, a clump everywhere. I vacuum twice a day and I would much rather be spending my time with you than doing that chore twice daily, now vacuuming IS boring. You'll have lots of that shedding fur gone and I swear you'll feel so much better, cross my heart.

I am quite positive you won't choke on your fur. Just think your fur in your mouth isn't so bad...your fur in my mouth, kind of bad. I don't really like that but sometimes it happens, pull it out and get on with your day. I promise you'll be fine.

As for your butt buddy, it just needs to be done, sorry. I know you don't mind the hang arounds after a poop but I'm the one washing your bum when and if this happens. It's not a barrel of fun for me I can tell you that.

I know you don't enjoy going but if your really good I'll get you one of those bones you really like. How does that sound? I'll be right there with you the whole time, you know Mom doesn't leave you there alone. Have to watch over my baby, right? Do you think I would let anything bad happen to you? Of course not. I swear Deogie the groomer is a good thing. It might be BORING but I'm pretty sure you can put up with boring for a couple of hours.

Love you lots, Mom.

This letter is to my Mom.

I have to tell you I am NOT impressed about tomorrow's events in the slightest. I don't WANT to go to the groomer. Can we say BORING!!! I have to stand there and do nothing but stare at the same wall for a couple hours. I repeat BORING!!! Me and some of the guys planned on hanging out tomorrow but NNNOOOOO you say I need to go get my hair done, by the way Mom only GIRLS get their hair done, I get cleaned up.

I don't stink, I swear and my fur is falling out in huge clumps around the house so come on Mom my winter coat will come out eventually.

I hate the water, you KNOW that. What if they get shampoo in my eyes or get water in my ears, you know my ears are sensitive. If I get an earache, it's all your fault!!! I know it's never happened but what if they have someone new, who doesn't know what they are doing. HHMMM what then Mom?

The blowdryer makes me hot, does that make you happy? I don't think so. I don't like the loud noise, I can't hear anything. The way they blow it all over my body, they get hair in my mouth. I don't like hair in my mouth, what if it gets stuck in my throat and I choke on it? Not good, not good at all.

Do you have any idea what happens next? I can't stand even thinking about it. Do you have any idea what I go through there? They shave my butt a little bit, what's with that? My butt, come on people!!! The first time they did it, I was like "what the heck!" Who cares if occasionally us dogs have a few hang arounds after pooping, we're dogs man, we don't care.

And then the brushing. The endless brushing, so boring. So you see Mom I will gladly not go tomorrow. Think about I will be saving you money, you can buy yourself something pretty maybe go for dinner, what ya think?

AH I'm probably not going to win this battle, so I will wag my tail and take things as they come.

Love you lots, Deogie

I never got the chance to meet him, but Mom tells me he was very cool and I would have loved him lots. She still talks about him and occasionally she has even called me Bear. I don't mind if she calls me that sometimes, cause she has enough room in her heart for both of us.

I am 20 months now, and just recently discovered the joys of lifting my leg. I was a squatter for many months, but I needed to get the hang of this lifting thing, cause you know I'm a dude.
At first I peed on myself many times but I watched others and realized what I was doing wrong. It's all in how far you lift that leg, I noticed the further the better. So I practiced as much as possible.
Trees, bushes, grass, even snowbanks were not safe from my manly marking. Not too many dogs can mark as high as me...try as they might they can never get rid of me...hehehehe. That's right dogs, this is Deogie's hood.
Well today, let's blame it on my excitement or possibly wanting to show off my new found talent, I aaahhh, well I ahhh marked a lady my Mom was talking to on our walk. Don't ask why...I don't know why. It was a good idea at the time. I swear it was just a little squirt but Mom wasn't impressed at all. The lady thought it was funny, Mom apologized profusely and then gave me that Mom look. Oh no, I knew then I was going to get a lecture.
I have learned my lesson. I need to be more responsible and respect the fact the humans are not trees.
Well, I'm grounded, so I need to get off the computer. Bark at you all soon.

Spring weather is here. All the snow has melted, so Mom is hoping we are done for another year.

Need to vent. We were out walking today and we were shocked by all the dog poop along the road around our neighbourhood. We know winter is cold but come on, it takes 2 seconds to pick it up....it's just gross and rude not to do it. Someone allowed their dog to poop at the end of our driveway, my Mom was so mad. She's on the look out now, hehehe my Mom the PI. She will not hesitate to bring them a bag and tell them to pick it up, she has done it before. Mom doesn't allow me to do my business on someone elses property, the back field is where I do that. People, kids and dogs should be able to enjoy a walk without looking for poop piles. Whew, I'm good now.

My Dad and I were going to take a drive into town so Mom gave us a list of things to pick up, one thing was my food. My Dad is only home one night a week, so Mom should have know that Dad picking up the right food or going to the right store wasn't going to happen. Mom learned her lesson, Dad will never go shopping again, especially for me.
He walks in the house carrying this HUGE bag of dogfood. This was the conversation:
MOM... "What is that?'
DAD..."Deogie's food."
MOM..."Aaahhh no it's not. His food is Wellness."
DAD..."But this was way cheaper it was only 28.00 bucks." (looking very proud about his savings.
MOM..."Take it back. Deogie is not eating that."
DAD..."Sweetie, he's a dog."
Well...MOM gives the look, we all know the...you have pushed it way too far look.
DAD picks up the dog food, jumps in his truck and brings home the proper food.
MOM kisses him and tells him thank you.

Parents eh!!!! Have a good one all.

Mom was and still is very proud of me. Lots of kisses and belly rubs. She is bragging to all her friends and family, and I am bragging to all of you.
The vet wanted to put me on medication but Mom decided to try and use some training techiques and they have worked. It has taken a few months but I am feeling much better about being alone.

Today I'm going to home all by myself for about 3 hours. Can you believe that...ALONE for that many hours. What is this world coming to?
As some of you know I suffer from separation anxiety and Mom has being teaching me being without her is okay. I have destructive behaviour, I know remotes and cordless phones should not be destroyed but it feels sssooo good at the time. Over the months, my time alone has went from zero minutes to about 2 hours.
But 3 hours, that is torture, that is a really really long time. Geez, what am I going to do? My cat sister (Miss Meany) completely ignores me so playing with her is out of the question. I can't destroy the remote because Animal Cops in on tonight. The phone, Mom got smart and always puts that away. Shoes, well they just bore me now, so last year. Let me just see, what looks interesting??? Oh wait a minute I might have found something. Oh yeah, that is defiately a possibility. There's a basket on the coffee table, might be fun to vent on...hhhmm magazines, books, some toys...oh man just walk away. So tempting, but I will try really hard to be a big boy and make my Mom proud.
I'll update you later and let you know how I made out.
Have a good one all.

Today I went to daycare for a full day. My Mom took my furless sister to the airport, she is heading to Cuba. Mom is freaking out a bit but don't worry, I'm here to keep her busy. So needless to say I am tired. Today wasn't even my scheduled day, so I was quite surprised when we pulled up. I was like...what the heck???
Oh yeah and my dogter checked my wound on my neck and he said it was healing great.

I have to tell you Mom thinks she is being sneaky with giving me my antibiotics, but between you and me I'm on to her. Sometimes you just need to let your humans think they are out-smarting you, little do they know....hehehehe. She bought me some canned food and shes rolling them into little meatballs and putting my pill inside. I'll just keep taking my pills because I know Mom would be very upset if I got sick.

Today I went to daycare and guess what??? My girlfriend was there. Her name is Emma. She is a Great Pyrenees just like me and she is beautiful. I love her very much. She doesn''t go very often so the daycare workers always let Mom know when she is coming in, and of course I'm there. Good day..yeap yeap.. good day.

Mom tells me I'm going to the groomers next week. No fun!!! I have to stand there and do nothing, very boring. The people are nice and treat be well but I can think of much better things to do with my time than getting my hair done. But I have to admit though, I do look amazing. Mom brushes me everyday, but I am shedding like crazy and need a really good raking. I kind of like the trail of dog hair I leave where ever I sit or lay down..makes it know Deogie has been here and here and oh yeah over there as well.

Well I guess I should go find someplace to lay my head, it's my bedtime.

Have a good one all and bark at you soon.

Well I had a day I can tell you. I woke and my day started like normal. Mom got up so I left her bedroom and went outside to sleep for a few more hours. I knew she was okay so I could leave her for a bit. Mom called me in for my breakfast, I ate and everything was still good, still normal. I went back outside, did my business (I'm very regular) everything still good. A couple hours later we jumped into the vehicle and headed to daycare...ssssooo excited. this is where my day became not so normal.
I was playing have a great time and my daycare worker noticed I was bleeding a little bit on my neck...OMD blood, what the heck? She took me directly to the dogter (love him) he cleaned it up and said it looked like a older wound that maybe the scab was torn off when I was playing with Rider. They put me on antibotics and you should see the size of these things. I think they are meant for a horse, I think Mom should double check on this prescription, they are HUGE. Mom will have to get creative to get me to take those...BOL.
My Mom came and picked me up and I was quite surprised at how well she took the news. My Mom is a bit, well lets be honest she is A LOT protective of me and worries about me like crazy. Everyone was trying to figure out how I got this small wound on my neck. The dogter thinks maybe I scratched it myself because I was just getting over an ear infection. Mom noticed me fussing over my ear so of course in I went. I have ssssooo much hair around my neck that the doctor had a hard time finding it today, I was thinking "geez buddy hurry up, it took him forever." Mom was telling them she never noticed any blood in the past days. My goodness if Mom would have noticed blood on me herself she would have freaked out. So the mystery remains. They have no idea how or when I was hurt and I'm not telling them anything..hehehe.

The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.

I do not need to suddenly stand straight up when I’m lying under the coffee table.

I will not roll my toys behind the fridge, behind the sofa or under the bed.

I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house.

I will not eat the cats’ food, before they eat it or after they throw it up.

I will stop trying to find the few remaining pieces of clean carpet in the house when I am about to get sick.

I will not throw up in the car.

I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.

“Kitty box crunchies,” although they are tasty, are not food.

I will not eat any more Kleenex or napkins and then redeposit them in the backyard after processing.

The diaper pail is not a cookie jar.

I will not chew my human’s toothbrush and not tell them.

I will not chew crayons or pens, especially not the red ones, or my people will think I am hemorrhaging.

When in the car, I will not insist on having the window rolled down when it’s raining outside.

We do not have a doorbell. I will not bark each time I hear one on TV.

I will not steal my Mom’s underwear and dance all over the back yard with it.

The sofa is not a face towel. Neither are Mom & Dad’s laps.

My head does not belong in the refrigerator.

I will not bite the officer’s hand when he reaches in for dad’s driver’s license and car registration.

I will not play tug-of-war with dad’s underwear when he’s on the toilet.

I will not eat mint flavored dental floss out of the bathroom garbage—this will avoid having a string hanging out of my butt.

I will not use “roll around in the dirt” as an option after just getting a bath.

Sticking my nose into someone’s crotch is not an acceptable way of saying hello.

I will not hump on any person’s leg just because I thought it was the right thing to do.

I will not pass gas in my owners face while sleeping on the pillow next to their head.

I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt across the carpet.

The toilet bowl is not a never-ending water supply and, just because the water is blue, it doesn’t mean it is cleaner.

I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch when company is over.

Suddenly turning around and smelling my butt can quickly clear a room.

The cat is not a squeaky toy so, when I play with him and he makes that noise, it’s usually not a good thing.

Mom took me to get my picture taken with Santa and I WAS quite excited. She forgot to inform me that Santa was a very strange looking fellow. I wanted nothing to do with this, no way was I getting near this odd looking man. They tried to coax me with treats and it worked at a distance, but in no way was I allowing him to sit near me or anyway get into my personal space. Mom just told them to take whatever picture, she wasn't going to force me. So my picture just shows Santa giving me a treat, you can't even see my face, but it's still cute.
Today my Mom's daughter got a minature dachshund, so I guess I have a new nephew. He doesn't have a name yet, Mom suggested Oscar Mayer BOL because he's a weiner dog but they didn't like that name. He will be coming for a visit tonight, so we can meet. Mom says he's really cute, but I'll have to see for myself.

Today, Mom and I went Christmas shopping for my daycare/vet's office. We ordered really cute specialty dog treats for all the pawsome pups that come through the door. There's snowflakes, snowmen, santa's, candy canes, trees, stockings, mittens and hats. She bought enough for about 100 dogs and she almost fell over when they told her the price BOL. We bought really cute platters and we will serve them as soon as they come in.

Tomorrow I am going to get my pictures taken with Santa, I'll be sure to post them for you all. I'm all brushed and smelling good. Need to look my best just in case there's some hotties waiting in line, wink wink.

Dear Santa,

1) I would like all pets to have yummy food and full bellies always.

2) I would like all pets to know a gentle hand, and a loving voice.

3) I would like all pets to be spayed or neutered.

4) I would like all pets to have a forever home.

5) I would like all pets to get the training they need, to make them polite, social and well-behaved.

6) I would like all pets to have warmth and never be lonely.

7) I would like all pets to have good health and vet care when they are not feeling very good.

I have to tell you my Mom thinks she is on Dogster WAY too much. When she's talking to her human friends on msn, instead of LOL she has been known to put BOL. She as also typed in stuff like " that's pawsome", "pawlease" or "fur-ever." Her friends are like "what???" but now they are getting used to it, they know my Mom is a nut. BOL.
It's freezing rain here and we are supposed to get lots of snow tomorrow, love the snow.
We are putting our christmas tree up tomorrow. Last year when I was just a wee pup I sort of wrecked some of the balls, so we no longer have glass ornaments on the tree. Here is my story...
We had the tree up for a couple weeks, my Mom only decorated the top half of the tree (puppy proved, so she thought.) Well as you all probably know I suffer from separation anxiety and my way of dealing with this is destroying something, anything I can rip apart. Books, magazines, remotes, shoes, baskets...HAHA they don't stand a chance. My Mom was going to pic her grandson up, she did a quick tour of the house, yeap everything is picked up and put away. She never even thought of the tree because like I said it was up for a couple weeks and I paid no attention to it. Generally I would go with her but with the carseat in the back I don't fit, so she left thinking I'd be okay for the half hour she'd be gone. Well surprise Mom, this should teach you NEVER, EVER leave me alone not for even a minute. There was nothing else around so I decided to give the tree a good butt kicking. She comes in the door carrying her 9 month old grandson and I'm waiting at the door blood coming from my mouth, she notices the tree is laying on the livingroon floor and there is also blood on the carpet. She immediately looks in my mouth and she see's a bunch of colored glass. I'm rushed into the kitchen, lifted up on the counter and she grabs the kitchen nozzle and rinses the glass bits out of my mouth, I DID NOT like this one little bit. She phones my dogter and off I go. I have to tell you no wonder I couldn't go in the first place, with the carseat back there it was pretty crowded. FYI my Mom drove a VW BUG at the time. They did x-rays and I didn't ingest any, I'm not THAT stupid. BOL. I had some cuts in my mouth but I was okay. We came home Mom cried because she felt so guilty, she cleaned up the mess, packed up all the glass ornaments and threw them away. So lesson learned and for all you new fur parents get rid of ALL the glass ornaments you just never know when that tree will come down.
Anyway that is my story. Well, I am off to bed. Bark at you later.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I have to tell you meeting Cooper the other Pyr this weekend was so much fun. It was awesome hearing about Cooper's job on the farm protecting the sheep. He is a really cool dog, but I was right, I am better looking BOL.

My Mom bought me some Christmas gifts this weekend. I tried to snoop but she caught me. I certainly hope she doesn't dress me in some silly santa suit this year, so embarrassing!!!!! Knowing her though, she will. I'll pose for a few pictures but that's it, so she better make it quick. Aaaaahhhh the things we don't do for our parents.

I am off to bed. Bark at you all soon.

A Dog's Prayer

Treat me kindly, my loved master, for no heart in the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Please do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon by waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal,no longer used to bitter elements.

I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.

Though if you had no home, I would rather follow through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my idol, and I am your devoted worshipper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you if were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.

Feed me clean food, that I may be well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you, Please, rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

The farmer says the other Pyr is very friendly when not in the fields, so he is going to have him up at the house.
Christmas, that's right people Santa will soon be coming. WOOHOO!!!
My Mom has been doing something for years that has always brought smiles to a lot of people and saved the lives of animals. Our local humane society like many others have tons of pets who need forever homes, and before they leave the shelter they need to be fixed (thank goodness). Instead of giving presents to her friends, she donates the money to have a animal fixed in their name. Once this animal is fixed the shelter will never put this animal down and will keep him/her until someone adopts them. In doing this about 8 pets are saved and they just wait for that special family to come along. My Mom gives her friends a picture, a bio and she writes them a thank you note from the pet they helped. Everyone cries, my Mom is the worst. She says Christmas is about celebrating love and life, and giving to others. Store bought gifts wrapped in pretty paper are great but it can never compare to the gift of knowing you gave an animal a second chance at life.

My Mom is getting all sappy already just talking about it so we will say good-bye for now.

Dear Dogs and Cats,

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim on it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king-sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest ex! tent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, bark, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years; canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:

Rules for Non-Pet Owners Who Visit and Like to Complain About Our Pets:
1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur" niture.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.

Dogs and cats are better than kids...they eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, and don't need a gazillion dollars for college!

You have a kiddie wading pool in the yard, but no small children.

Pigs Ears are on your shopping list every week.

You send Valentine's day cards from your dog to his favourite doggy friend ( I know someone who does this)

You have baby gates permanently installed at strategic places around the house, but no babies.

The waste basket is more or less permanently installed in the kitchen sink, to keep the dog out of it while you're at work.

You can't see out the passenger side of the windshield because there are nose-prints all over the inside.

Poop has become a source of conversation for you and your significant other.

You refer to yourselves as Mommy and Daddy.

Your dog sleeps with you. You have 32 different names for your dog. Most make no sense, but he understands.

You have little songs that you sing to your dog, and he always wags when you sing, even though you can't carry a tune.

Your dog eats cat poop, but you still let him kiss you (but not immediately afterward, of course).

You like people who like your dog. You despise people who don't.

You carry dog biscuits in your purse or pocket at all times.

You talk about your dog the way other people talk about their kid.

You sign and send birthday/anniversary/Christmas cards from your dog.

You put an extra blanket on the bed so your dog can be comfortable.

You'd rather stay home on Saturday night and cuddle your dog than go to the movies with your boy/girlfriend

You go to the pet supply store every Saturday because it's one of the very few places that lets you bring your dog inside, and your dog loves to go with you.

You open your purse, and that big bunch of plastic bags you use for pick-ups pops out.

You get an extra-long hose on your shower-massage just so you can use it to wash your dog in the tub, without making the dog sit hip-deep in water.

You meet someone when out walking your dogs and you introduce your dogs first.

You and the dog come down with something like flu on the same day.

Your dog sees the vet while you settle for an over-the-counter remedy from the Chemist

Your dog is getting old and arthritic, so you go buy some wood and build him a small staircase so he can climb onto the bed by himself.

You don't think twice about trading licks of an ice cream cone with your dog.

You match your furniture/carpet/clothes to your dog.

All of your charitable donations go to dog-related and humane society groups.

You have your dog's picture on your office desk (but no one else's).

You lecture people on responsible dog ownership every chance you get.

You hang around the dog section of your local bookstore.

You skip breakfast so you can walk your dog in the morning before work.

You are the only idiot out walking in the pouring rain, but your dog needs his walk.

You don't go out for drinks with co-workers any more because you need to go home and see your dog.

Your parents refer to your pet as their granddog, remember his birthday, and send him greeting cards and gifts.

Your friend's dog acts as Best Dog at your wedding.

Your weekend activities are planned around taking your dog for a hike (both days).

You keep an extra water dish in your second-floor bedroom, in case your dog gets thirsty at night (after all, his other dish is way down on the first floor...).

Your freezer contains more dog bones than anything else.

You never completely finish a piece of steak or chicken (so your dog gets a taste, too).

You shovel a zig-zag path in the garden snow so your dog can reach all his favourite spots.

You avoid vacuming the house as long as possible because your dog is afraid of the vacum cleaner.

You keep eating even after finding a dog hair in your pasta.

You carry pictures of your dog in your wallet instead of pictures of your parents, siblings, significant other, or anyone else remotely human.

And the number one reason you know you're a dog person: is your on this web site reading doggie humour!

Do I Go Back Home Today?

When my family first bought me to live within their home. They cuddled and they pampered me and groomed with brush and comb.

They played with me and laughed with me and showered me with toys. I sure do love my family, and all the tiny girls and boys.

The children loved to feed me; and give me special treats. They even let me sleep with them - all cosy in their sheets

I used to go for lovely walks, often several times a day. They even fought to hold my lead, I'm so very proud to say!

These are the things I'll not forget - a cherished memory. for now I'm in a shelter, bereft of family.

They used to laugh and praise me when I played with that old shoe. But I didn't know the difference between the old one and the new

The kids and I would grab a rag, and for hours we played tug. So I thought I did the right thing when I chewed that bedroom rug.

They said that I had lost control and would have to live outside. I didn't really understand this, though I really really tried!

The walks they stopped one by one; they said they had no time. I wish that I could change things; I wish I knew my crime.

My life became so lonely shackled to a metal chain. I barked and barked continually I thought I'd go insane.

So they took me to the shelter but were embarrassed to say why. So they said I'd caused an allergy, then said their last goodbye.

If only I'd had training, as a tiny little pup. I wouldn't have been so hard to live with, when I was all grown up.

You only have one day left", I heard the kennel man say. Does that mean I have a second chance? "Do I go back home today"?

My sweet Pom Pal Patina tagged me tonight. Let me see.... I'm running out of things to say about myself.

7 facts about me:

1) Great Pyrenees is also known as Pyrenean Mountain Dog. Their success in fighting wolves and bears earned them the name Pyrenean Wolf Dog and Pyrenean Bearhound as well.

2) We were used to guard flocks of sheep and goats in the Pyrenees Mountains.

3) They were given the nickname "mat dog" because when not guarding the nerd they could be found laying outside their owners door.

4) When not guarding herds they were used to pull carts and sleds.

5) By the late 17th century, every French noble wanted one.

6) In World War 2 they were used for pack service and for running contraband goods over the Franco-Spanish Border.

7) They are bred to be independent thinkers. They need a confident owner to take charge and control them.

A little history about my breed. Your probably all bored about hearing about me...who I'm I kidding of course your not. BOL.

I will tag 7 of my buddies and the game continues. Tell everyone 7 things about you. Your loves, your hates, anything you'd like us to know about your personality, your life. Then tag 7 of your friends, pmail them and let them know they are now part of our game. Have a great one all.

2) I always try to play with my fur sister but I think she hates me, but I think she hates everyone.

3) I am afraid of frogs, bees and pretty much anything that looks, smells or sounds weird.

4) I love car rides to Tim Horton's, I always get a timbit.

5) I love my family but my Mom is my fav. I follow her everywhere.

6) I hate apples, I know weird eh.

7) I love my life.

Now I have to tag 7 of my friends...the choice is so difficult because your all great. My pals I choose need to tag 7 of their friends and the game continues. Write in your diary and don't forget to pmail your pals and let them know they have been tagged.

My pals are....

Belle
Woof Man
Jaxon
Tootsie Roll
Fawn
Simon
Bailey

Bark at you all soon.

Well it's been awhile since I posted a dairy entry, lets see if I can remember what as happened to me lately.
It rained all weekend, Mom hates the rain but I love it. She made the big mistake of taking me to the back fields, the crops are gone so now I have miles to play and that means more mud to explore and trust me I explored. I was a terrible mess once again but it was fun.
My Mom and Dad got a new digital recorder, you know the one where you can pause and rewind live programs for our tv downstairs, they were very excited. Well they set it up, turned it on and my cat sister, Miss Meany decided to climb on top of it, I guess cause it was warm....this is where I think it gets funny, my parents not so much. She has a sensitive tummy and she just ate, vomits all over the recorder....it sizzled out in seconds. It hasn't come on since. I knew she was nothing but trouble. BOL.
I went to the vet and got my yearly checkup. I don't know about you but I hated those scales, wouldn't go within 10 feet of that thing. A couple months ago they wanted to weigh me and I struggled, Mom said I wasn't to be forced and told them to stop. Mom took me there everyday and encouraged me to get on the scales. Everyday I went she would get me a little closer, then one day she sat on the scales and called me on, we sat and cuddled for a few minutes, I got some great treats and now I am no longer afraid. I get weighed weekly now....I am 117 pds.
Oh yeah, I seen a huge bullfrog at the bottom of my backstairs outside. I was like..."what the heck is that" I wasn't go near it, Mom had to get it out of my yard. I am fairly timid of new things, but that thing was just plain ugly. People say my Mom turned me into a big baby, but that's okay.
Well I'm off to bed, keep you all posted if anything new comes up. Take care

Today I have to say was the first day my Mom has been really ticked with me. She picked me up from daycare and I was feeling stubborn. She took me out to our jeep, lifted the hatch and wanted me in. Nope didn't feel like it. Take into consideration, it was pouring rain. I sat and looked away. "Deogie sweety, get in" nope still didn't feel like it. "Deogie GET IN!!!!", aaaahhhh nope. "DEOGIE GET IN THE FREAKIN JEEP!!!!!!", well if your going to be that way, nope. Then you should have seen it...hahahahahaha BOL still makes me snicker. I guess her patience ran out, she was getting fairly wet. My Mom weighs 95 pounds and I weigh 115. She picked up my front half and put it into the jeep, of course I went limp then she picked up my behind and put me in the jeep, pushed me in, slammed the door. I never knew my Mom was so strong. She ignored me all the way home, but we are fine now. Hehehehehe, I admit I can be stubborn.

I would have to say FINALLY!!! Not much for that summer season. Mom kept the central air cranked but I luv being outside. At night now I can sleep in the back porch. I stay out there until about 4 am, then I wake my Mom to come and get me. She has gotten pretty good at remembering to lock the door since our last incident...BOL. Today we went for a nice walk in the fields behind our house. I was so tired when we got back. Mom had to pick burrs out of my hair while we cuddled on the floor. I also went to my sisters rugby game today, they won...HOORAY! I think I'm going to daycare tomorrow. I go for a half day, three days a week. That is when my Mom does her grocery shopping and appointments. She says it keeps me out of trouble. I am never left alone for a long period of time. My Mom and I do everything together. She has even switched to shopping at Home Depot cause I can go shopping with her. The people that work there always give me lots of treats.
Last night my Mom went to bed and forgot to lock the patio door. If you have seen my video you know I am quite capable of opening doors but I haven't yet learned the skill to close it, and I guess this is why I have this story to tell you. Like I was saying mom forgot to lock the door, she was sleeping and I decided to go outside and do my business. I figured no sense waking her, kind of nice of me eh? When I came back into the house I layed beside my moms bed and waited for her to wake up. Here is where my story starts to get a little freaky. I heard a noise, one of those noises where you just know something is not right. I got up, went to the hallway and stood at the top of the stairs, tuning in on this strange noise coming from the kitchen. Next thing you know, my cat sister jumps off my Moms bed, blots down the stairs and into the kitchen. My curiousty is now perked a little more because the cat normally doesn't move that quickly for anything. I knew I should go check things out but I have to honest I was a little nervous about what I'd be facing. I heard this loud bang, the cat went running around like crazy, this strange thing in my house started screeching and then I seen it. It was huge and scary, my instincts kicked in and I ran. Ran right to my mom's bed, I knew she'd keep me safe. She was awake by this time from all the noise. She knew I was scared, she told me to stay (like I was going anywhere) and everything would be okay. I could hear the cat running and this ferocious creature screeching, things were being knocked over. My mom left me and went to the kitchen. I heard my mom say a few bad words, some more crashing around, the patio door close and then all was quiet. My mom came into her room, sat on the bed and gave me a hug. I am a very nervous dog and she always makes me feel better. She looked at me and said, "Deogie honey you need to shut the door. Big, scary squirrels belong outside." I certainly hope she never forgets to lock that patio door again.

So what did you think of the show last night? Awesome Presley won. Everyone was great but Presley was my favourite. Hopefully, they will have another show.
My day was great. Mom and I went for a nice long walk along the bay, met some new people and a few puppy friends. One dog was not so friendly, so mom kept him away from me. We were walking towards them and he started yeling at me for no reason and I was thinking, "what the heck is his problem" but mom moved me a good distance away.
After our walk Mom took me to the pet store to buy me a new toy. My mom got upset with these people when we were talking to my trainer. These people had a 3 year old with them and they allowed him to come running for me. My mom gave me to the trainer and stopped the child. She told the little boy to never run towards a strange dog, and then she told his parents the proper way they should teach him to approach a dog. Mom insists on people asking before they pet me, especially when it comes to kids. I love kids and Mom knows this but says some dogs aren't as nice as me.
Well bark at you all later. Oh yeah, love all my new pet pals.

At first I had NO IDEA now to eat it but I figured it out quickly. I don't normally get people food (sometimes when I act really really cute I get some steak) but I think they enjoyed laughing at me. Let me see what else. Oh yeah, did I tell you I passed my puppy training class. Thankfully, that is over because I really didn't think it was much fun. The treats were good but that was it. Sit, stay, heel, come...blah blah blah so BORING!!!! Most of the time I let my mom think she got her moneys worth but sometimes I still act up once in awhile. BOL.
Today I went to daycare for some puppy play. My mom sends me there for half days on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. She uses those days for shopping, appointments and whatever else she needs to do when I'm not around. I go at 11:30 and she picks me up at 5. I always love to see her because I'm really tired by that time. I have been going there since I was 10 wks so I have grown up with many of the other dogs there, we have ssssooo much fun. The lady that watches us is really nice, she plays ball with us, cuddles and makes sure no one gets out of hand. The building where I go and play is right next door to my doctors so he is close by in case anyone gets hurt. This one guy got stitches the other day, he tried to climb on top of this girl (mom told me they were wrestling but I don't think so) and she turned around and bit his head. I didn't like the blood but he was okay in the end. I hurt my leg one day and had to go and see the doctor, he gave me lots of treats and said I was a good boy. I was okay just had to rest for a few days. It's my walk time. Bark at you soon.

After your humans have given you a bath, don't let them towel dry you! Instead, run to their bed, jump up and dry yourself off on the sheets. This is especially good if it's right before the humans bedtime.
Act like a convicted criminal. When your humans come home, put your ears back, with tail between your legs and chin down, and act as if you have done something really bad. Then, watch as the humans frantically search the house for the damage they think you have caused. Note: This works best when you have done absolutely nothing wrong.
Let the humans teach you a brand new trick. Learn it perfectly. Then the humans try and demonstrate it to someone else, stare blankly at the humans. Pretend you have no idea what they are talking about.
Help your humans learn patience. When you go outside to pee, sniff around the entire yard as your humans wait. Act as if the spot you choose to pee will ultimately decide the fate of the earth.
Draw attention to your human. When out for a walk always pick the busiest place, most visible spot to go poo. Take your time and make sure everyone watches. This works particularly well if your humans have forgotten to bring a plastic bag.
When out for a walk , alternate between choking and coughing every time a strange human walks by.
Make your own rules. Don't always bring the stick back when playing fetch with your humans. Make them go and chase it every once in awhile.
Hide from your humans. When your humans come home, don't greet them at the door. Instead, hide from them, and make them think something terrible has happened to you. (Don't reappear until one of your humans is panic-stricken and close to tears.)
When your human calls you to come back in, always take your time. Walk as slowly as possible back to the door.
Wake up twenty minutes before the alarm clock is set to go off and make your humans take you out for your morning pee. As soon as you get back inside, fall asleep. (Humans can rarely fall back asleep after going outside, this will drive them nuts!)

Today my mom dicided to let my friend Keno come over and have a playday. I was ssssoooo excited. Keno is a lab cross (my mom calls him a mutt) and I think he is the coolest. We played in the backyard, swam in my doggie pool, and we had a picnic under my favourite tree. Mom wasn't very happy when we started running through her flowerbeds, geez mom relax. I noticed the flowers are a little bend and broken but I think they'll be okay, I don't think she knows, but secret...I pee on them all the time hehehehe. Well, its my nap time...talk soon.

Well I have lived with my puppy parents for a year now and it has been amazing. I have to tell you I have spend many hours training my new parents but it has been worth the time. Patience, that's what its all about. I have taught them to fetch...they throw the ball, I sit there and then you should see them go, they run after it and bring it right back to me. I have taught them to stay off the furniture, I lay on the couch or the bed and refuse to give in, stay firm my furry friends. I have taught them to pick up all my toys, walk me when my schedule allows and brush me only after I have had my morning nap. You as well can have well trained puppy parents, it just takes time, love and patience. I have to go for now, I think I need a belly rub.
