I got a bit teary about her yesterday. She's been sleeping more, and Maggie reminded me that she's almost seven. "That's getting to be old age," she said. One of the great injustices in life is the short span of time we get with a dog. Maggie assures me that this allows us to make more than one dog happy, but I don't buy it.

I continue to use Storm as a regular model over at A Dog a Day. Photos, sketches, that sort of things. And at the most private moments, such as playing tug or wearing a cape. I'm shameless.

So my Erik has been fussing over me lately and...

I can't do it. I can't write from the perspective of a dog. No offense, but I just don't like it. To me, it's like sticking a tutu on a dog. Your mileage may vary, void where prohibited, pinch of salt and all that.

I've been doing the A Dog a Day project since January 1, and setting this up was project 17 for the year. Dog a Day is a new creation from me every day, so far including drawings, a painting, photos and now a Web site. Storm has featured heavily, being easy to get hold of as an unwilling model. And being too sweet to fight back. She just sits and looks humliated.

Yesterday, I had a towel wrapped around her neck to see what a dog in a cape looks like. I made her pose in the back of our new car. I made fun of her new haircut. I'm a bad person, but I do it for the sake of art.
