Happy 3rd birthday to me!
Wow mom is so BAD about writing for me - it's been a whole year - what, does it have to be a birthday for her to update our diaries?
Anyway, I am 3 years old - where did the time go? Well, I spent it going for walks and trying to keep up with Tucker. Taking rides in the car with mom and snuggling with Molly. Sitting on mom's lap every chance I get and getting as my tummy rubs as is possible. Who wants to chase a ball or toy when you can get a nice tummy rub instead? That's my idea of a great evening - sitting on mom's arm snuggled up on her chest and getting a nice rub! Let Sparky have the spot on mom's legs and Molly can have her lap. Tucker gets warm and lays on the floor or next to us - so I get the best spot!
It's been a pretty busy year - but it's all good. Hopefully mom will update this more often for me. I'll work on that!
Hugs

It's my Woofday today - I am 2 years old. Mom even took the day off from work to spend it with me - well, maybe not, but she's home today and that's always fun. No real special plans, but we'll have a special dinner today to celebrate. I am a really good girl and a real mommy's girl too. But that's OK with both of us.
Well, off to celebrate being 2 years old!

I had such a fun morning that I just had to tell you all about it - I took Tucker's favorite ball - the one he's chewed all up so it's nice and squishy and has lots of yellow fuzz to bite on hanging off of it and it's missing it's squeaker too. Anyway, I got it and then I spent all morning before mommy went to work walking all over the house with it in my little mouth! See the balls don't actually fit in my mouth very comfortably, so if the fuzzy yellow stuff is chewed off and just hanging there, then it's easier for me to bite them. I walked right in front of Tucker and then I'd lay on mommy's bed and he'd sit there and stare at me. Then I'd get up and take it into the bathroom with mommy and he still just followed me around. I finally got tired of it and left it in one of our beds so he could go and get it. I sure do have old Tucker trained, don't I? He didn't even try to take it away from me! He steals stuff from Molly all the time - like her hoof - she'll be laying there chewing on it and he just walks up and takes it. But she lets him. Not me! I'm feisty and he doesn't get away with that with me.

My first year has really gone by fast! I have grown up a lot and mommy says I am really getting a nice coat and getting prettier every single day. I love it when mommy tells me I'm pretty and brushes me. It feels so good. I give her lots of licks and kisses when she does that too.

Christmas was pretty fun - not the little people so much, I wasn't all that fond of them - but some big people came too and I did like them. I really wanted to play with my stocking, but mommy said I had to play with the toys instead. There were lots of new toys - we each got like 4 new toys - so that makes a lot of toys! My favorite was whichever toy Sparky had! He didn't think that was so much fun, but I love to play toys with Sparky. He's getting better about it though and plays tug with me. And he lets me help him bring the toys back when mommy or daddy throw them for him. He still growls and grumps at me sometimes though. I try my best not to annoy him, but I have to say, he's a little on the grouchy side.

Charlie and Nina and auntie C came to visit while mom was on vacation this last week. That was really fun. I got to play with both of them and they were pretty nice to me. I understand that I'm the baby of the group and kind of annoying to them, but they did awesome with me. I ask very politely if they want to play, and mommy says that helps a lot. We got to finally go for a walk yesterday. First day since mommy's been home that it wasn't freezing, raining or really windy. It was pretty cold, but the sun was out and I got to run and sniff and check out the neighborhood. Me and Tucker led the way with mommy and Sparky and Molly followed us with daddy. We took an extra long route and that was fine with me.

Let's see what else? I'm still a devoted mommy's girl. That probably won't change anytime soon. And I protect my status as mommy's baby too - I still haven't gotten over growling and doing the curly lip when anyone else except for Molly wants to join me on mommy's lap. She usually makes me share though. She says I am spoiled rotten and doesn't understand how that could have happened! BOL It's cause I am so cute and sweet and loving to her even if I'm not always that way to anyone else. Don't get me wrong, I am a very happy girl. Always ready to play or wrestle with Tucker or curl up with Molly for a nap. It's just if I get mommy's lap all to myself, I would prefer to keep it that way. Oh well, being the baby of the family has it's perks and problems!

Loves and kisses,
Katie

I came home a year ago tomorrow. Can you believe it's been a year already? I can't remember living anywhere else really. I sure can't imagine living anywhere else. What would I do without Molly to snuggle and nap with, Tucker to run and chase and play rough with, and Sparky to make him growl at me when I try to get him to play with me. Sparky still thinks I'm a baby and a pain in his backside. He is getting better now that I'm a year old and a little calmer! He'll let me give him a little kiss now and then. And when Sparky plays fetch, I go and help him bring back the toy. And then we play tug with it. So he's getting used to me! Tucker is my favorite to play with though - we make lots of noise and it gets mommy a little upset with us sometimes, but we have a ton of fun! Molly is my sister and I love her the very best. We nap together and play together too. We almost always share mommy's lap during the evening when we watch TV. We can get a little grumpy with each other, but we really do love each other lots!

I know that my diary is the last one to get an update today, so everyone else has already talked about Thanksgiving and the kids who came to visit. They were OK really. I hung out on mommy's lap and they didn't bother me at all. Actually mommy told them I have a bad temper and I might bite them. And they left me alone! Not a bad deal at all - and she's right - I have a very bad temper. And sometimes I bite mommy. I always feel bad about that afterwards and give her lots of kisses. I am doing better about anger management now - mostly I'll stop if mommy tells me to "stop" and I hardly ever bite now. But it worked out OK telling the kids that I might - and I might have too - cause they were very noisy and wanted to pat my head. I don't much care for that!

OK, I think that catches things up! Christmas comes next and I really can't wait for that! I was pretty little last year, but I definitely remember that there were new toys. I love new toys!

Until next time,
Katie

Happy First Birthday, my sweet little Katie!

Your first year of life has just flown by. Hard to believe that it was only a year ago that I was waiting on pins and needles to hear if Fancy had a little girl that would be mine! You were such a tiny little puppy, and so very cute from the first picture. I was so lucky to be able to meet you and hold you on your 4th day of life. Your mom, Fancy, was right there to make sure you were fine of course. Thank goodness she knows me and trusts me with her babies. And I got to watch you grow and get to ready to join our little family. The first time you met Tucker you bit his tail and hung on! Little did I know how much that showed about your personality. You are a very outgoing and confident little lady! Which is a good thing considering your came into a house with three older and two larger dogs - to say nothing of our foster puppy, Sammy, who arrived only a few weeks after you came home. You can really hold your own! My dream was that you and Molly would be pals and that has come true. The first time I watched you climb into Molly's bed and curl up with her for a nap, my heart nearly burst with happiness. You and Molly have a lot of fun together and it's been like watching my dream come true. You are truly sisters - you play and you argue!

Enough with the sappy memories! You are growing up to be a very beautiful little girl and I have treasured each moment of your young life. I hope that we will celebrate many more birthdays together, Katie Bug. I love you!

Happy Birthday,
Mommy

I got to go for a ride yesterday morning with my mommy. I thought that was pretty cool, but then we got to Dr. B's office and she left me in a little cage! That was not cool at all, but I was a brave girl and didn't even whimper (at least not that mommy heard). Then they did the spay operation on me. When I woke up my tummy was sore and so was my mouth a little bit cause I still had two baby teeth that had to be pulled. And I had really, really clean ears. I had to stay there all day so they could watch me and make sure everything was OK. But mommy came and got me late in the afternoon. I was very happy to see her - I gave her little kisses. Then we went home and she put me in the x-pen. That was OK cause I was sore and grumpy with the other dogs - I growled if they tried to get too close. I wouldn't eat any dinner but I did drink water. Mom tried to make me eat some Nutrical, but I didn't want to. She put some on my mouth and that meant I had to lick it off. So that made her happy and sticky! HA HA I had to sleep in my little soft crate in bed but I was really good about that too. Mommy let me out early this morning and cuddled me under the covers cause I was a little shivery and cold in my crate. I went outside and did a potty too - finally - mommy was starting to worry about that one. I just didn't want to use the potty pad for some reason. Still haven't done a poopy, but that will come - I haven't eaten very much for the last couple days so that makes sense. I am still sore today and am spending most of my time in my bed. Mommy covered me up with a little blankey and I am warm and cozy. She took down the x-pen cause I am being so good and not overdoing it. Thank goodness - I don't like being in there very much. Sparky seemed to enjoy it though! BOL And I'll get to snuggle with mommy in bed tonight too - she put the crate away too. I'm sure that I'll feel much better tomorrow. The best part is mommy stayed home with me today and she'll be home all weekend too. Lots of cuddles and spoiling for me! I like that! All in all, it wasn't horrible, but I am very glad I don't ever have to do that again. So is mommy.
Hugs

Wow my first summer is almost over - already! It went by so fast. I really need to catch my diary up - a lot has happened since I wrote last.

My Mom, Fancy, came to stay with us again - this time for 2 whole weeks. We really love it when she comes to visit us. She is such a sweet girl and she fits right in with us. She likes to bark with the boys and play with her girls (me and Molly!) Mommy and daddy love her too. But she had to go back home - we were sad to see her leave.

We've had lots of play days this summer and I love them! I am a very friendly puppy and I like all of our friends. We get to go to other peoples houses and sniff their stuff and then they come to our house and they sniff our stuff. It works out great. We also got our very own pool! I love that pool. I think it's my outdoor water dish. I perch on the edge of it and take a drink. Then I have to hop in there to get back out. It's not very big and mommy doesn't put much water in there, but I think it's awesome. Of course mommy took pictures of me doing that - she calls it my "kitty" pose! Let's see - we took a lot of walks until there were so many dogs loose in our neighborhood that we had to stop. They would run at us and scare us really bad. Mommy says that they are supposed to be on leashes or behind their fences or in their houses - just like we have to be. But they aren't so we are the ones that don't get to go out for walks. What a bummer! Hardly seems fair. So we took some in the early morning before anyone else was out, but that only works on the weekends or if mommy has a day off work. Otherwise it's still dark outside and that's not fun at all.

It's only about six weeks until my first birthday! I am going to visit Dr. B on Sept. 11 and get spayed. I'm not really sure what that means or if I'll like it very much, but mommy says as much as it scares her to have me operated on (YIKES!) it really is the best thing to do. I'm pretty sure that mommy will let all my Dogster friends know when this is going to take place cause she'll want them all to send up good positive thoughts and prayers for me that day. Anyway - back to the birthday - I'm going to be one year soon. I bet I'll get some presents and yummy treats! I am excited about it, mommy says she's not - she'd keep me a puppy forever! NO WAY mommy!

We all have pretty collars now too - mommy is making them for us. Some of our friends mom's have bought them for their doggies too. So there's a bunch of us Oregon doggies with handmade collars. They are really nice and soft and light weight. Not the kind of collar that the big dogs wear with a leash - but we don't wear leashes on our collars - only on harnesses - so they are more just neck jewelry! She is also making us collar charms, so we are really stylin'! BOL

Well, I guess that just about catches things up. I'll try and get mommy to write for me more often. She gets busy and I understand that, but my life is very interesting and I just know more pups want to know what's happening!

Hugs

We went to visit Auntie Melody and Fancy (our mother) and Sylvie and Latte on Saturday and guess what? Fancy and Sylvie got in the car and came home with us. And they stayed for three nights! They just went home yesterday. It was pretty fun mostly. I did get in my bratty mode a little bit - well quite a bit - but only when Sylvie tried to get too close to me or mom. I am a mommy's girl really bad and I don't like it if someone tries to get to mom when she's mine. That applies to Tucker, Molly and Sparky too. But I guess I should be nicer to company, right? I did try the brat act with Fancy (my mother) but she wasn't taking any of that! So I backed off and was way nicer to her after that. I could tell she didn't think I was being a nice girl at all. Anyway, it was a lot of fun really. Sylvie like to play chase with me and Tucker and she can run really fast. Molly played chase with us too. And even Sparky played with Sylvie a little bit. I have to admit she is a very pretty little Chi! And the best part - not one of them tried to take my spot next to mom on the bed! Everyone found a spot they liked and slept peacefully all night long. Mom was very happy about that! I did kind of miss Fancy and Sylvie last night. I was just getting used to them being in my house and then they went home with their mom. But I think their mom missed them, so it's good that they went back to their house. Maybe I'll get to go stay with Auntie Melody and Fancy and Sylvie some day! That might be fun!

Wow I had no idea how hot summer is! Since this is my very first summer, I wasn't sure what to expect. First it was so cold and there was rain and snow out there. Then it got a little warmer, but there was still rain. The rain finally stopped and it was so great outside. But for the past few days, it's so hot that I pant just walking across the yard! Mommy says to drink a lot of water and she sure didn't have to tell me that twice! It sure tastes good on a hot day. I still snuggle up with mommy at night though even if it's kind of warm. That's my place to sleep and I wouldn't want any other spot on the bed!

You know something else? There was a lady and man that came to visit us a lot this weekend. Daddy said it was his daughter and son-in-law whatever that is. Anyway, they thought I was SO cute and the lady said she wanted to take me home with her! Mommy said sorry Katie is home. Boy was I relieved to hear that! I really didn't want to get on an airplane and leave mommy to live with those people. They were very, very nice, but I love my mommy and I would miss Molly and Tucker and Sparky too much. But I did like the pets and belly rubs and compliments!

Mommy gave me something new to try this weekend. It's called a strawberry. She thought that I would like it, but I didn't. Molly didn't like hers either and neither did the boys. But I did like to lick mommy's plate after she ate those berry things. And the whipped cream - now that was yummy! She gave us all a little taste off her finger and we all loved it a lot. I sure would have liked to have had a LOT of that! I got some on the tip of my nose and mommy said I had a whipped cream nose and I looked so cute!

Sometime really amazing is happening to me and mommy says I am all grown up now. I am having my first "season". It's a very strange thing, but not all that bad. As some reading this may know, I had a very scary first surgery on my tummy when I was just a tiny puppy - I quit breathing during that surgery - so mommy is very scared to have me spayed until I am all grown up. So that meant that she was thinking when I was about a year old. On my 7 month birthday, the amazing thing happened. I started my first and only season! So I have been home a lot - which is OK as the weather hasn't been all that great. Mommy takes me for walks if the neighborhood is really quiet - no doggies outside that might be "interested" in me. But I had to miss the playday yesterday cause there are boy doggies there - most are "altered" but one isn't and we didn't know for sure if he'd be there. Mommy says I CANNOT have puppies! I am way too young. So just to be safe and make sure that the boys didn't bother me the whole time, I just skipped this playday. It was OK - Molly stayed home with me. So I wasn't lonely or anything. And by the next playday, I'll be able to get out there and run zoomies and stuff with all our Chi friends! I think that Sparky and Tucker really enjoyed with day with Mommy too!

There were lots and lots of people and doggies there and they raised a lot of money! That's a good thing cause it will help doggies find new forever homes. Now about that walk - we had to park a long ways away and we walked and walked to get to the park. You guessed it - by the time we got to the actual walk, both me and Molly were tired! And we were a little intimidated by all the big people and dogs. Mommy brought our sling carrier and so we got to ride in that most of the way. It kept me nice and warm cause I got cold and was all shivery. We stopped by the river and took some pictures with our dog mommy, Fancy and Molly's dog daddy, Peco too. Seeing as how it was the day before Mother's Day we thought that was appropriate. We really did have a lot of fun and it was nice to have mommy to ourselves for the whole day. The boys had to stay home cause they bark too much and pee on everything in sight! Bummer for those boys!

It's been forever since I got mommy to write in my diary for me! Wonder what's up with that? I turned 6 months old a couple weeks ago and have been growing like a little weed! I have lost all my puppy fuzz and have a pretty, shiny coat now and am starting to grow some of the long coat feathers on my tail and legs and tush. I love to play with my sister Molly and chase her around the house and then have Molly chase me. And I love to play wrestle with Tucker - he's the best at that. But Sparky, every time I try to play with him, he growls at me. I think it's cause he's pretty old and I can be a little annoying sometimes! And guess what? I am learning to bring the toy back to mommy when she tosses it for me. She throws balls for Tucker and I don't care about those old balls at all. And she throws the toys for Sparky too - but they go way too far for me. So if she plays tug with me and then tosses the toy a few feet away, I'll run and go get it and bring it right back to her. Tucker doesn't do that with his balls! He drops them far away from mommy and then she has to go pick them up to throw again. So I think I have got this fetch thing down really good.
Now that the weather is a little warmer, I am really having fun on our walks too. No more shivering and wanting inside mommy's coat. NO I love to walk and sniff and pick up pieces of sticks to taste. And I have learned to potty outside too. Do you know what happens sometimes when we are on walks? People slow down in their cars and look at us and grin and wave! Haven't they ever seen one mommy walk four chihuahua's at once? We are a pretty cute bunch, maybe that's why! But we don't care at all. I try real hard to keep up with Tucker cause he's always in the front of the pack. I like to be in the front too. Mommy is signed up for the Doggie Dash put on by the Oregon Humane Society and I think I'm going to get to go and walk with her. She says that she can't take all of us, and she thinks that I'd have the most fun. I think so too - it's next Saturday, I sure hope I get to be the one to go. I know it won't be one of the boys - cause they are the barker boys and mommy says that wouldn't be cool. But Molly might get to go instead of me - but I am going to be on my very best behavior this week so that mommy picks me! I need some special mommy time!

My Sweet Katie,
You have brought so much laughter and love into my life. You are so full of energy and yet so sweet and loving. You stole a huge piece of my heart the first time I saw you and you barely filled my hand. I held you close to my heart that day, and I will always hold you that way. You will never know how my heart sunk that day the vet called and said you quit breathing during your surgery - but you were OK now. My heart was breaking for putting you in danger and at the same time was swelling with love that you were so strong.

My favorite time is bedtime when you snuggle up next to me and fall asleep so quickly and peacefully. Then during the night you move up to my pillow and I wake up and your tail is in my face! Next thing I know it's morning and you are snuggled up against my chest again. I love it so much that you like to be close to me as you sleep, because I can't imagine falling asleep without you there.

You are my last baby Chihuahua for a long time - you and your sister and brothers are going to grow old with me! - so please forgive me if I try to keep you a baby.

Love,
Mommy

I went to my very first Play Day yesterday. It was pretty fun. Not real crazy about having to ride in my car seat, but I'm not crying for near as long as the first few times I had to ride in it. I did throw up again though. Me and the car = throwup! Mommy was prepared though - paper towels and extra towels to sit on. So it was all good. She did put my sweater on me and my harness too. I still got a little shivery, but I had quite a bit of fun. My brothers looked out for me too. And my liter brother Dubby was there, but I really didn't care too much about him. It was more fun getting snuggles from the mommies. If that's what happens on play days, I think we need way more of them! And I napped in the sun on Sadie and Lucy's blanket with Molly. That was great too. I was very tired when we got home and little grumpy. It was so much fun that I just wore myself right out! There are big chi's and tiny chi's there - so always someone to play with. I think I'll go next time too!

Valentine's Day is almost here! I'm not really sure what that means, but I sure have gotten some nice kisses on my picture! That is fun! Thanks to everyone that stopped by and left me a smoochie. Mommy says I am way to young to think too much about Valentine's Day. But there sure are some pretty cute pages to visit this time of year.

The meds that Dr. A gave me seem to be helping me a lot. The major flakies I had are just little flakies now. And my tummy isn't all dry anymore either. I still have my puppy coat, so it's hard to say if it's making any difference or not. I do have to have a bath once a week just like Molly does. So every Sunday afternoon is bath time for us. We take turns cause it takes a long time to get us all lathered up, then soak wrapped up in towels, then the rinse and then the blow dryer (which I'm not all that fond of - but Molly loves it) and then if I'm still soggy I have to be wrapped in more towels and sit on mommy's lap till I'm at least almost dry. By the time Molly goes through it and then me, it's been awhile! But we get some nice mommy time and that is always a good thing!

Sammy came back to stay at our house for a while. I really love to play with Sammy. Well, the first few days, I did a lot of growling at him. Mommy called it my "I think I'm Huge" growling - sounded really fierce! Now I just love to play with him! The bummer is that he is way bigger than me (I'm not quite 3 lbs and he's like 13 lbs!) and he gets a little mouthy and steps on me sometimes. That makes me cry and then mommy or daddy tell him to play easy. It doesn't take me long to decide it's time to play again, then we are back at it. He does like to steal stuff from me and I don't like that. I growl my Big Growl at him then. And if I eat my treats too slow, he steals those too! We are about the same age, so if we were the same size, we could really have fun! Molly doesn't like him much and the boys seem to like him some of the time. Boys are so funny. Mommy says three boys in one house is not a real good thing. Wonder why not? Tucker leaves potty on stuff - do you think that's why? Maybe.

I still have not been shown how to use the doggy door! Daddy thinks mommy is trying to keep me a baby. Mommy says I get cold way to easy to be out there anytime I want and what would happen if I couldn't get back inside? I could freeze to death! BOL Silly Mommy! I love to play outside. And daddy always lets me go out and play for a while when he gets home. And I love, love, love that! Spring will be here soon and then I can go outside on my own. If I don't surprise mommy one day and just show her I watched the others so long, I figured it out on my own! Wouldn't that surprise her!!

I had to go to see Molly's skin Dr. today. Dr. A is super nice and so are all of the ladies in the office. I got lots of attention and cuddles too. But they still had to take some flakes of skin off me with scotch tape and scrape my skin a little and look in my eyes and ears and look at my tummy too. I was so good. I never made even a little whimper. Have to say that Dr. A is just so considerate - she warmed up the thing she used to listen to my chest so I didn't get cold. See, it was a little chilly in there and I was shivering pretty bad already. So she got big points from me for doing that nice thing. I am going to have to have some medicine and lots and lots of baths and conditioning stuff for my skin. But I think it'll be OK. I already have a bath once a week and mommy combs me almost every night, so what's a little conditioner? I really love the attention and it feels good to get the flaky skin off me. The medicine is suppose to help that get all better. I have kind of dry tummy skin so I get belly rubs with mommy's lotion. I LOVE that!
Oh yeah - they weighed me on special baby scale and I tipped those scales at 2.9 lbs! I am a real heavy weight!
Dr. A helped Molly feel all better and her skin isn't near as flaky and her coat is so pretty and soft, that mommy says she bets that I'll be all flake-free and shiny in no time at all. I'd like that!

I went for my very first walk today. I am going to be 3 months old on Wednesday and daddy keeps telling mommy that she has to let me grow up! He thinks that she is trying to keep me a baby. I kind of like being the baby, but the walk was a lot of fun! First you need to know that January in Oregon is cold and wet. There wasn't any rain today, so mommy thought it was a good time to give it a go. First of all she made me a "sweater" out of one of daddy's old socks. It was nice and snug, but not all that warm. Then I put on the harness that I wear at night to keep from falling off the bed (really mommy I am learning about heights!) and the stretchy leash that came with it. So now I am all decked out and ready to go. It really helps that I'm used to wearing a harness and leash and I take off after Sparky, Tucker and Molly like I've been doing this all my short life! Well, in a way I have been. I have been chasing my brothers and sister for my whole life. Anyway, I walked about two blocks before I was shivering so bad that mommy put me in my sling carrier. But I kept on shivering, so inside her coat I went! It's only 42 degrees out and I'm still pretty tiny, so I need mommy's body heat now and then. I stayed in mommy's coat until we got about one house from home and then I got to walk up the front walk and in the front door all by myself! I made mommy really proud of me. And it was so great to be able to sniff on stuff and I even picked up a leaf or two! I bet it will be a lot more fun when it's warmer outside!

I turned 10 weeks old on Christmas day!
Christmas was fun. We got some great toys in our stockings and my Secret Santa Paws, Jackson, sent me some really cool toys and a pretty bling for my collar. He did an awesome job of picking out the toys and bling - they are all just my size! There was a lot of paper and stuff laying around our house on Christmas morning. Mommy and daddy had a whole bunch of people in the house on Christmas Eve. There were so many people that we had to stay in mommy's bedroom with a gate across the door so we wouldn't get stepped on. Mommy said that really she was afraid that I'd get so much loving and attention that I'd be spoiled forever! I got to meet some really nice people though and they all thought I was so cute! I was a very good girl too, I sat nice and still and didn't chew on anyone's fingers when they held me. The kids were not allowed to hold me though. Mommy says maybe next year when I am bigger and they are a little older they can hold me.

I'm healing up real good from my tummy surgery. I still have a scar, but that will fade away. But I don't hurt anymore and am running around like it never happened. I am doing real good with the potty pads too. I almost always make it now days. And I only wake mommy up one time during the night to go potty. She says that's really good and she can't wait until I can make it all night long. I think she's a little sleep deprived right now.

We have a foster doggy living with us right now. His name (according to mommy who just up and decided his name) is Sammy. We're not sure what kind of dog he is. The rescue people said he's part chi, but we aren't sure which part! He is really tall and has very long legs. But he only weighs 8 lbs. He really likes to play with me, but he's still a puppy too and sometimes he steps on me and makes me cry. So mommy watches real close to make sure we are both doing OK. He loves to sleep on mommy's lap and I am OK with sharing her. Tucker's not - but I'll let him write about that. Molly likes him most of the time, but she can be a little grumpy too. And Sparky tries to play with him, but then Sparky has to bark when he plays and Sammy isn't too sure about the barking part. He's been at our house for 5 nights and 4 days now - he got here real late on Sunday - and he's settling down some. At first he only wanted to be held by mommy, but now he's happy sleeping in one of the beds and only sitting on her lap when it's his turn or when all of us can be nice and sit on her lap together. We think mommy needs a bigger lap, but she says it's plenty big enough! BOL Silly mommy!

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year - Katie

I have to tell you that this was not one of the best days of my short life. Mommy took me to visit with Dr. B this morning and she left me there. She promised to come back and get me so I wasn't too worried. But she didn't give me any breakfast and that was not a good thing. I love to eat! But I figured that maybe Dr. B would have treats or yummy food. But no. That didn't happen. What did happen was that he put me to sleep and did surgery on my tummy. They thought I had a hernia so they went in to close up the hole. But when Dr. B got in there, he couldn't find a hole only that my inside tummy wall is very, very thin. So things kind of tend to pop out and make a bump. So he stitched me up and we hope that will help. I am not feeling real great and I cry really loud if someone moves me wrong. I have very good lungs! Really it's a tiny incision and I am just a little sleepy and groggy from that sleepy stuff they gave me. He did say that the goopy medicine that mommy puts in my ears everyday is making them all better. I hate that medicine. I wiggle and wiggle trying not to let mommy find my ears. But she always does. I am very glad to be home. Mommy made me some yummy food to eat and I did a pee pee on her rug (that was not good but it hurts a little to walk) and now I'm having a nice nap in my bed. They put me on the scale and I only weigh 1.5 lbs. Still a very dainty little girl. Mommy was real worried about taking me for this procedure. She said she had a bad feeling today. And so all of our friends were saying prayers for me and sending me good thoughts and it worked cause when I was under the sleepy stuff, I stopped breathing. But Dr. B is good and right on it and got me some oxygen and I started breathing again. See mommy is convinced that it is all of those prayers and positive thoughts that she and our friends were sending up for me that made it turn out OK. She is very glad to have me back home. I was so happy to see my mommy when she came to get me this afternoon. I curled up in her hand and real close to her heart and just drifted off - all was OK cause my mommy was back. You know she loves me lots and lots and I could feel that and it made me relax and be happy again. I should be back to normal very soon. And no more bumps popping out on my tummy!

It's my birthday - sort of - I turned 8 weeks old today! Probably these little birthdays are only important to me and mommy, but it gives me a good excuse to write in my diary!

You know how I was wishing that my sister, Molly, would let me sleep in a bed with her? Well she did this weekend. And I love it just as much as I thought I would. Molly is getting used to me and is really very nice to me. Everyone is pretty nice although Tucker and Sparky will steal my treats if they think they can get away with it. Mommy watches pretty close though and shooes them off. I have those tiny puppy teeth so it takes me much longer to chew things than it does them.

I am getting the routine down here. Daddy comes home and lets me out of my safe place. Then I run around acting crazy with joy (mommy wishes she could see that!). Then mommy comes home and we go greet her at the door. Lots of kisses and belly rubs happen then. And then pretty soon it's time for dinner. We sit on the rug in the kitchen and watch mommy make our dinner every night. It smells so nice cause she warms it up for us. I love turkey and Chicken and sweet potatoes and carrots and even brocolli and green beans. And sometimes there is a little bit of dried apple or cranberry in there too. And of course rice! After dinner we play toys and I bite on mommy's hands more than the toys. Then it's time to relax and let mommy watch a little bit of TV before bedtime. The others go outside for potty time and when they come in we get a milk bone! Mommy calls them our junk food treats, but we love them so much she keeps letting us have them. And then we all file into the bedroom and sit for a Zukes treat after she closes the door. They are tiny and I can eat those easy. Then I put on my PJ's (well really my little harness so I can't fall out of bed) and in we all climb. Lights go out and we all go to our special spots. I cuddle right up to mommy's neck where it nice and warm and I can feel her heartbeat. And she can give me little kisses on my head. She told me last night that she hopes I don't outgrow wanting to sleep close to her like that. I can't imagine sleeping anywhere else!

I have learned that the door is open on my safe place when mommy is home and I can run in there and do my business! Mommy says I am very smart and the best puppy she's had for knowing where to do my business. She only wishes that I would think of potty as doing my business and run for the safe place like I do with poopies. I'll get it mommy!

And daddy let me outside on the deck last night! Wow - it was big and cold out there. Mommy thinks I'll get too cold to be outside right now, but daddy said a minute wouldn't hurt. So while Tucker and Sparky and Molly did their business outside, I got to sniff around on the deck. Very interesting smells out there. Now I know where they go when they disappear through that doggy door that I can't push open yet.

So that's my life at 8 weeks. I am learning so much and growing up fast. Mommy says that since I am the last puppy she's going to have for a long, long time she is really enjoying watching me grow and change. She says she just wishes that it didn't happen quite so fast. It's OK mommy, I still have lots of "firsts" to experience!

I have been at my forever home for 5 days now. I am really settled in pretty good. I am using the potty pad most of the time, I know right where the water bowl is, I know which dish is mine at dinnertime, I have found my favorite bed in front of the fireplace and I have my special place next to mommy at night. Now night-time has been an adjustment for the whole family. But we are getting it all worked out and last night every pup was in their designated space. First time that happened and mommy and daddy got a decent nights sleep. Mommy got me "pajamas" - really it's a ferret harness that I am going to be wearing at night. (Ferret harnesses are tiny and mesh so they work great for tiny puppies like me). The reason for this is that I am not at all afraid of how far it is to the floor from the bed. I just walk right off the edge - well almost - mommy caught me before I got to the point of falling off - which she says would have been very, very bad and would have hurt me. So I sleep in the little harness with a leash attached to it. Then mommy attaches the leash to her wrist and we sleep real good. I actually tested it last night. I walked right off the edge of the bed when mommy was sort of asleep. It woke her right up and she lifted me to safety. I was just hanging there in my harness so no harm done. But she is sleeping much better not worrying that every time I move I might fall off the bed. And after that bit of excitement, I cuddled right up and stayed close to mommy! It's really the best spot to sleep anyway. Her pillow is nice too though.

My sister Molly is getting nicer to me every day. She is playing with me now - not lots - but some and she is starting it. So that is nice. I am a very happy little puppy and I love to play. And I love playing with my brothers too. We play chase Tucker and it's so much fun. I hope one day that Molly will let me cuddle in one of our little beds with her. I think that would be so nice and it would make mommy very happy to see that happen.

My daddy is my hero every night though. When he comes home, he lets me out of my "safe" place. My pen in the kitchen where I have to stay while mommy is at work. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice place to spend the day. My bed is right by the heater vent (my first mommy sent my special bed home with me - isn't that the greastest), I have kibble and left-over breakfast to nibble on, my water dish, toys, stuff to chew on and of course my potty pad. But by the time daddy gets home, I am ready to get out and play and play and play! So I am very happy to see him. He told mommy I was climbing up the pen last night. That scared her a little bit!

So life is really good at my new home. And this thing called Christmas - that sounds pretty fun too. I have a stocking hanging on the mantle just like Sparky and Tucker and Molly do - and there is a toy in it. They told me that there will probably be more new toys in there by the time Christmas gets here. Wow! Won't that be exciting! I just can't wait.

I am now living with my new brothers and sister at my forever home. I got here yesterday. First I had to go to the Vet place and they gave me a shot. It wasn't bad and I was very brave. The temperature taking was not the most fun I ever had though. Then mommy put me in a carrier and we drove home. I was not fond of the carrier so after crying and fussing around for about 1/2 hour, mommy opened the top a little bit and but her hand in there and petted and held me. Then I fell asleep for the rest of the ride home. When we got home there was Tucker and Sparky and Molly. Tucker and Sparky played with me right away - well after a quick potty stop - but Molly ran away from me. She wouldn't play with me at all and she wouldn't let mommy touch her either. I think she was pouting a little bit cause she used to be the baby in the family. Anyway we had a great day. Mommy took pictures and videos of us playing. I did have some accidents on the floor, but mommy was pretty nice about it. Then at bedtime I got to sleep right next to mommy. Molly wouldn't sleep next to mommy (on the other side) like she usually does - she slept by daddy. But Tucker and Sparky got in their usual spots just fine. I wanted to play at first, but then I settled down and curled up close to mommy and went to sleep. No accidents in the bed! That made mommy happy and we only got up once in the night to find the potty pad. I have a little "safe" pen in the kitchen right next to the heater vent and there is a potty pad and food and water and a bed and toys in there. So that's where we went to potty and Tucker and Molly went outside. Then back to bed and back to sleep. Mommy said I did really great! and she was happy that she got to sleep cause sometimes that first night at a new home can be rough on a pup. I was really hungry when I woke up and ate a lot of breakfast! My new mommy fixed me chicken and carrots and rice - just like I had at my first home. They are calling me a little chow hound! But I am a growing girl. I weighed 1 lb 5 oz yesterday, so I still have a lot of growing to do. So today, I spent about 2 hours alone in my safe pen while mommy and daddy went to town for more food. And when they came home, I was sleeping on my bed. I had spilled some food and water, but not a lot and mommy says that's OK cause I'm on the kitchen floor and it cleans easy. She will have to leave me in there tomorrow when she goes to work - all day long - so this was a nice test to see if I would settle down when I was in there. And I did, so mommy isn't feeling quite so bad about it. Now I'm laying on her lap giving her some good advise about what she needs to type for me. What a life! I think I'll stay here!

I am really excited! My mommy says I am going to my forever home this weekend! YIPPEE! Not sure if it will be on Saturday or Sunday, but this weekend for sure. See my brother that we nicknamed, Big Boy, sat on my head when I was getting a little drink of water. That didn't work out too great - my mommy had to help me get the water out of my nose and get me breathing right again. It scared her pretty bad. He didn't mean to hurt me. I love to play with him and we are driving mommy crazy running all over the house. So she told new mommy that after I get my first shots (not sure what those are) and a little checkup at the vet's on Saturday that she can come and get me and take me to my forever home. I am eating my food really good - I really like the chicken the best - kibbles not so much! I hear that they have chicken or turkey at my new home too. I am a little nervous about the car ride, but I hear that new mommy has a car seat for me to ride in. I hope that's better than a crate! I hated riding in that little crate thing when we went to meet my new family last week. I cried all the way there! And it's a much longer drive to my forever home. New mommy says I'll be just fine and she is real excited to have me coming home with her. She's talking about a pen that I will be in while she's at work. Hmmm, not so excited about that idea. But she says until I learn where to potty that will be my place unless someone is home to watch me. She's gonna watch me potty? Hope she decides to give me treats if I potty in the right place. That just might make it worth the effort! And there is the doggy door issue. New mommy is real afraid that I might follow Molly or Tucker or Sparky out the doggy door and then not be able to get back inside or I'll fall off something outside and hurt myself. It's really cold here right now and she says that I am so tiny that I could freeze if I was outside very long. She worries a lot! Already have that figured out about my new mommy! So the next time I write in my diary, I bet it will be from my new home! And that I'll have homecoming pictures and maybe even a video to share!

I got to meet my new family today - everyone except my new daddy that is. He doesn't "do" play days! BOL But I think when I get to my new home, we'll be having some fun play days everyday. I really had fun playing with Tucker and Sparky. I bit their back legs and got them to play with me. I even got a mouthful of Tucker's tail! That was fun. They were very gentle with me and played until I fell asleep - in my mommy's arm. She says that I am a very pretty girl and was real impressed that I know my name. My mommy where I live now has been using my name since my new mommy picked it for me, so I am real used to it. My coat is getting longer every time she sees me and it's all fluffy and changing colors. I got to chew on my new mommy's fingers with my little razor teeth too. I only bit kind of hard one time! Molly wasn't much into playing today and new mommy thinks she is a little jealous of me hogging so much attention today. But she'll get used to me and I think we are going to be great friends. I was very tired by the time we went back home and first mommy said she hoped I'd sleep all the way home. I didn't like the carrier much and cried all the way to Charlie and Nina's house. The necklace that new mommy made for me fit perfect and I wore it for a while. The mommies said it made me look so pretty. And I did real good for having something around my neck for the first time ever. It's not gonna fit for long, cause I am growing fast, but new mommy said that she can make another one for me to wear for special occasions. Now I just need one of those heart tags with my name on it. Sparky, Tucker and Molly have one and so does the kitty that lives at my new house, so I bet I get one too! Well, it's nap time now!
And I have to tell Dub and BB all about my big day!

Today is my 5 week birthday. I have grown so much - I weigh 18 ounces now. My brothers are growing fast too. I am in the middle as far as size goes, with "big boy" the largest of us three. I am now eating canned puppy food and mommy Fancy has pretty much quit letting us nurse her. We miss her a lot and I howl for her to come and let me cuddle. They say I have a great set of pipes and let me cry because they don't want me to get spoiled by picking me up everytime I fuss. Oh geez! Why NOT! What's wrong with being spoiled? So I cuddle up with my brothers. Of course all this behavior is being told to my future mommy and she is agreeing with this treatment. OK fine - I'm sure I'll grow out of it anyway.
Countdown to going to my forever home is getting shorter and shorter! Only about 3 weeks to go now!

My new mommy came to visit me today! I showed her how good I can walk, how much I like lunch with my brothers, and then I snuggled up for a little nap. It was a big day! I also learned a bunch of stuff about this new human mommy: she likes to take pictures, she smells pretty good, she likes to cuddle me and she gives good kisses! I am growing up fast and mommy says only a month and I can go home with her. She is really excited about that, but I'm not real sure I understand what that means. And she said she got me a pretty pink collar with some bling on it and some new toys too. And then she bought some pretty pink blankets for Sparky, Tucker and Molly to get their scents on and she'll bring them to me the next time she comes to visit me. That way I'll get used to their smells and it will make going to my forever home easier for me. Well, that's her theory anyway. She said I have grown so much and I am getting prettier every time she sees me. I can tell that she already loves me.

That's right! I have found my legs and am walking around! Not a lot and not real good yet, but I can find my food dish! And I think it shows too - I now weigh 12 oz - and am being described as chubby! Mommy Fancy feeds me and my brothers real good! I am right in the middle as far as size goes and that's just where I like to be too - those brothers are great for keeping me all warm and cozy! I will be three weeks old tomorrow. There are new pictures on my page too. My new human mommy is getting really excited - there are only 5 weeks to go and I can come home. She is already planning where to put my x-pen for when she isn't home. For some reason she doesn't think that I should be allowed to run around the house with Sparky, Tucker and Molly when she's not home - at least not for a couple weeks. Hmmm, bet I'm not going to think that's real great. I am going to want to be with them, but mommy is afraid that they might play to rough with me or I might follow them out the doggy door and not be able to get back in. She always thinks of the worst possible things that could happen! Gotta love mommies!

October 24, 2007
I am 8 days old now. I am a little wiggly butt and hard to take pictures of, but they got 3 great photos of me! I weighed in tonight at 6.8 oz. That's a gain of 4 ounces in just 8 days. I am almost a handful now. Growing up quickly. My eyes should be open in another week. I am expecting a visit from my human mommy to be on Saturday. She is very excited to see me again. My sister Molly and brothers Sparky and Tucker will be there too, but probably won't be allowed to see me because they don't want to stress Mommy Fancy out with too many visitors. Guess I'm going to miss out on that Halloween party and the treats they are having. Oh well, there is always next year!

Hi! My name is Katie. I am 6 days old today. I met the lady that is going to be my human mommy when I was 4 days old. I can't see yet, but I did curl up on her chest and relax for a while. She says that I will be staying with my doggy mommy for the next 8 weeks or so and all I have to do is concentrate on growing up. OK, I can do that. Of course the mommies put me on that cold scale to see how much weight I had gained - doing really good - up to around 4.5 ounces now! And then those camera's - they all kept taking all these pictures of me. Probably a good thing my eyes aren't open yet. Could have been blinded by the flashes. So I have already learned one thing about my human mommy to be - she likes to take pictures! Of course you all probably know that already if you know my future siblings. Did you know that Molly and I have the same doggy mommy? So we are really, truly sisters. I can't wait to be able to meet her and the boys too and of course see them! They are coming to visit on Saturday, but I probably won't be able to see them yet. But maybe I can sneak a little sniff. They'll visit me again and again before I go to live at their house. So I'll already know them - at least a little bit.
I'll keep you all updated on my growth and my cuteness!
Nice to meet you all!
