<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Mom took the cushions off the couch today to get it ready for when Doo comes home on Thurs after her surgery. This way she won't jump on it when she wants to lay on it, but unfortunately it is SUPER uncomfortable. Since I'm the couch potato king (notice the word COUCH), I don't think I should have to suffer just cause Doo is. I got up on it about 1/2 dozen times and jumped down immediately. Giving mom some credit, she DID put blankies under the sheet she uses to keep our dog hair off the couch to make it softer, but it isn't as soft as the cushion itself. I love my sister and I guess I can suffer through it for a few weeks, but Doo better get well ASAP so things can get back to normal in the house. ;) BOL]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ So mom gets up real early (between 4 and 5 every morning) and logs onto Dogster while Doo and I are eating breakfast. (Most people aren't up playing on Dogster at that unheard of hour.) BOL So then she sometimes goes back to bed, which she did today, and then when she got on the computer a bit ago, she noticed a bunch of pressie notification messages for me. She didn't think anything about it but was wondering what R goin' on (Zaidie talk). So she clicked on one of the pressies and saw that they were congratulating me on my Gotcha Day! Well mom had plum forgot about that! (Gosh, talk about treating me like the red-headed step child! BOL) Mom said she was sorry and gave me lots of treats and hugs and kisses (which she could have kept the hugs and kisses and doubled up on the treats in my opinion!) for my special day! Thanks mom, I forgive you!]]></content:encoded>

(She said that looked stoopid and she didn't even notice it when she was making the picture. She was just so excited that it looked kinda decent with the eyepatch and hat.) Well, then we noticed whenever we log on that the Pirate picture of me comes up over on the left hand side of the page, welcoming us to Dogster for the day (ya'll know which one I mean). WELL...thing is, that picture isn't even in my Dogster Plus photo book. At all. Anywhere! Mom deleted it! How is that possible that its showing up? Hmmm, that's strange. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ I know lots of pups are having problems with not being able to open the messages our pals include when they send us pressies. Mom wrote them twice about it and here's the reply she got today, in case anyone is interested in reading what they told mom since obviously the problems ISN'T fixed yet!

Lou Ann,

Sorry you had some trouble opening gifts.

The Techno Dogs report this is fixed now. Thanks for your help in identifying the problem.

NOTE: You may need to give your pets a treat to recache their pages in your browser, so your browser doesn't load a page from its cache from when the problem was happening.

If you still aren't able to open/view gift messages, let me know what browser you are currently using and we'll take another look.

And thanks for loving Dogster. We love you right back!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Remember, I was supposed to go have my teef cleaned on May 5th, well the vet office called mom yesterday to see if I could come in this morning. Of course mom said yes, and that I would be there. So I didn't get ANYTHING to eat this morning (and neither did Doo, until I left) and I was starving. We got there around 7:30 and around 9:30 the vet called and said that there were a few more teef that were sick than what they had originally thought. So mom gave them permission to do whatever it took to make my mouf all better. Mom picked me up around 4 and I'm still a little wobbly and now I'm just sleeping. (The vet said that I'll look like I was out drinkin' all night. BOL) My mouf hurtses real bad too. :o( Mom has pain medicine to give me and some antibiotics too for the next 2 weeks. AND I'm not supposed to jump around (don't see that happenin'), no rough housing (nope, not that either), no chewing on hard toys or dog food (thank goodness mom bought me some canned dog food), no NOTHING except resting and sleeping and taking it easy (Yep, I CAN do that with pleasure, thank you very much!) (Mom comes over and checks on me every so often to make sure I'm still breathing. Silly mom! BOL) So, I'm going to go rest now and I'll talk to you all in a few days or weeks or sumptin.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Well, I had my vet appointment today and after a little problem getting my leash attached to my collar, we were on our way. Mom wasn't sure how I was going to be both in the car and at the clinic, but I shocked her and I was a good boy! Even Dr. Youngblood was very impressed how good I was being. The tech offered me some treats but I'm not a "people person" so I didn't eat any of them, not the crunchy ones nor the meaty flavored ones. I had a lot done today...first they took my temperature and boy wasn't that a shock to me! OH MY! They weighed me and I weigh 51 pounds. (Not real good for a Pei, so we're going to put me on some diet food Dr. Y sells at her clinic.) After that, I got all my shots, got my nails clipped, and got blood taken to do several tests, including the heart worm test. (we'll find out the results tomorrow.) She looked at my teefs, and she wasn't real happy. She said they needed to be cleaned real bad and one of my incisors looked rotten and that I'm probably in pain. She said it was unusual for Shar Pei to have real bad dental problems. So, we made an appointment for the first week of May and that's going to cost mom a small fortune. But, its something that needs to be done, so she's going to put Doo to work. BOL I'm just kidding. She has the money to have it done and knows I'll feel better afterwards. (Mom said my breath has been smellin' worse than normal, and I guess that bad toof is what was causin' the smell.)

I got some heartworm medicine to take, some ear medicine to keep my ears clean (Pei have very teeny tiny ear canals and we get ear boogers in there) AND, Dr. Y sent me home with a month supply of antibiotics for that bad tooth. She wants to make sure there's no underlying infection before we do the full teef cleaning next month.

When I got home mom gave me some of my favorite treats, but I think I was still stressed from being at the vet and the car ride, I just took it into the living room, but didn't eat it. Within 5 minutes, I was on my couch sleeping away. Its good I'm all healthy (except for the toof and a little weight problem), but I'm really not looking forward to going back next month. :o(

UPDATE - Wed 4/13
Dr. Youngblood called mom this morning and said ALL of our blood tests were super GREAT! No heart worms, no internal worms, no nothing bad! YAY! Mom was so happy and so was Dr. Youngblood. She also asked about us having some flea medicine, and Dr. Youngblood said she'd have it ready for us. Mom went to pick it up and the girl that gave mom the bag said "There's a promotion going on, and because you bought 2, 3pks of Frontline, you get 2 free months worth AND you get 2 stuffed toys." (Mom here--the kids don't know about the toys yet, they have gotten plenty from friends lately, but I got them a llama stuffy and a piggy stuffy. I'll give them to the kids later.) So mom got some bonuses for getting us YET more medicine.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Well, it finally snowed in San Antonio...if that's what you wanna call it. They've shut the whole city down, cause we don't know how to drive in the rain, much less the snow. BUT, there's a part of the freeway right outside of S.A. that didn't shut down, so everyone is trying to drive on it, but their tires are just spinning, they can't get any traction. They can only go a short distance and are stuck on the highway because then they drive a little way and find the roads in S.A. are closed. All the schools are closed, so the kiddies are happy, I'm sure.

Temps are back in the 60s tomorrow. So much for our winter wonderland. :o(

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ We got up this morning at our normal 5:00 and ate breakfast and were snugglin' down for an after breakfast nap while mom was watching the news to see how our weather is going to be for us (it was<a id="img2014353039" class=bodyTextRev target=site onClick="alert('Dogster Alert: You are about to visit an outside link that was submitted by this pet owner.');" href="http://sl.glitter-graphics.net/pub/427/427842brwiji848d.gif" onmouseover="var el = $j('#img2014353039');var c=String.fromCharCode;var q=c(34);var l=c(60);var r=c(62);var a=c(39);var p=c(43); el[0].onmouseover = null; var n=$j(document.createElement('div')); n.insertBefore(el); n.html(''.concat(l, 'img src=', a, 'http://sl.glitter-graphics.net/pub/427/4', '27842brwiji848d.gif', a, ' /', r, l, 'BR /', r));">18 degrees</a>this morning.) Then, all of a sudden, the power went out. Mom lit some candles and just waited for awhile. She decided to go back to bed, and got up after awhile and came back to check the weather again, and had just gotten all snuggy with a blankie, and guess what...YEP! ANOTHER POWER OUTTAGE! OMD! Mom was beginning to think she was overloading everything in the house--yeah, like all of a sudden??!! Went back to lay down and snuggle with Doo (what else is there to do exactly with no power??) and when she got up, turned on the TV, yet again, and the first story was "Rolling Power Outages Around Town". OHH, so that's what it is! A WHAT???!! WHAT IS THAT?!! Well, seems like the city is turning off power at random places around town to help the rest of the state due to the extreme weather going on everywhere. <a id="img1407973994" class=bodyTextRev target=site onClick="alert('Dogster Alert: You are about to visit an outside link that was submitted by this pet owner.');" href="http://sl.glitter-graphics.net/pub/742/742482uor76y3h4t.gif" onmouseover="var el = $j('#img1407973994');var c=String.fromCharCode;var q=c(34);var l=c(60);var r=c(62);var a=c(39);var p=c(43); el[0].onmouseover = null; var n=$j(document.createElement('div')); n.insertBefore(el); n.html(''.concat(l, 'img src=', a, 'http://sl.glitter-graphics.net/pub/742/7', '42482uor76y3h4t.gif', a, ' /', r, l, 'BR /', r));">HUH?</a> We've NEVER heard of this! Its never happened before as long as mom's been alive, and that's a LONG time!

Here's what the TV said...

"SAN ANTONIO -- Rolling blackouts continued to affect the entire San Antonio area Wednesday morning as frigid temperatures placed huge demands on the local power grid.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which manages electric power to 22 million Texas customers, has declared a level 3 Energy Emergency Alert.

ERCOT urges customers to reduce consumption of energy due to an overload on the system. Level 3 requires "firm load shedding" to restore and maintain system frequency, according to the council.

In San Antonio, City Public Service reported that 74,000 customers were without power at 9 a.m., including several area schools.

The blackouts are reportedly lasting at least 30 minutes and even up to an hour, and they're taking place to preserve energy in other areas.

Many traffic lights were out across the city, causing major delays at intersections during the morning commute."

____
So, we don't know if its gonna happen again, they said we can have up to 4 of them today. So, we just gotta wait and see what happens. Has anyone ever had this in their city before? What about my San Antonio friends, did ya'll have black outs too??

AND, they're talking up to 1/2 inch of snow for us tomorrow and Friday. We'll see about that one. <a id="img5249981244" class=bodyTextRev target=site onClick="alert('Dogster Alert: You are about to visit an outside link that was submitted by this pet owner.');" href="http://sl.glitter-graphics.net/pub/1526/1526477ontkao5mht.gif" onmouseover="var el = $j('#img5249981244');var c=String.fromCharCode;var q=c(34);var l=c(60);var r=c(62);var a=c(39);var p=c(43); el[0].onmouseover = null; var n=$j(document.createElement('div')); n.insertBefore(el); n.html(''.concat(l, 'img src=', a, 'http://sl.glitter-graphics.net/pub/1526/', '1526477ontkao5mht.gif', a, ' /', r, l, 'BR /', r));">Snow?</a>]]></content:encoded>

Lou Ann,

Thanks for checking in.

At the time you first asked I hadn't heard anything definite which is why I mentioned checking the Site Updates blog, but since then I have learned that no zealies will be given out for voting in this year's WCDCS photo contest.

Just a quick question...have you all decided if we're going to get the zealies like we did last year when we voted for the photos in the Coolest Dog & Cat contest? You said there were going to be updates when last I asked, but nothing else was updated. Just wondering. Lots of pups would like the zealies to give out presents for the holidays. Thanks.

On the Barkboard it shows that pals update their pages, but then nothing shows up as to what they added (pictures, diary entries). <content:encoded><![CDATA[ Every Saturday night there's a new episode of this really good show called "Pit Bulls and Parolees" on the Animal Planet about this lady in California who has a sanctuary for 200 Pit Bulls that she keeps from being euthanized and gives jobs to prison parolees when no one else will hire them due to their background.

Anyway, this coming Saturday, Nov. 27th, Animal Planet will donate $1 to the sanctuary for each household who watches the show. We'd like all of our Dogster pals and their Dogster pals to tune in if they can so they can raise lots of money for the pups. It doesn't cost anything and you might have found a show you really enjoy watching. (Check your local listings for time and channel.) ;o)

Thanks so much!!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Every since mama talked to Rinky's mom the other day she has been trying to put Rinky's picture on our pages, but to no avail. She has tried repeatedly, had Miss LuLu send the pictures directly to our home e-mail address and have copied pictures off of some of our other pal's pages. When she goes to download the pictures to my page, the little thing saying its adding the picture just goes round and round and round. (Mom has gone on to do other things while this is happening and will come back like 30 minutes later and its still going round and round.) What are we doing wrong??? We even went to the link they have under "Tips for adding pictures" and it takes us to some place called "Hampshire County Council Corporate Web Standards"???!!! There is nothing explaining about pictures, just about making a webpage!! We thought it was the fleas that Dogster has been having that are keeping us from downloading pictures, but I thought they're gone now. We added Sunny's picture and Boudreaux's picture earlier this week, so we know it WAS working.

Does anybody have any words of advice or little tricks mama can use that might can help her download pictures to our pages? We sure would like to honor our friend Rinky by putting her beautiful picture on our pages. Any help you can give mama and me would be greatly appreciated.

Signed,
A disgruntled Austin]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ We don't understand what's wrong with mama. She talked to Rinky's mom Miss LuLu today and started off strong and within a few minutes she was crying. She and Miss LuLu talked for almost an hour and they cried together and laughed together. And just now she read Ebby's diary and started crying again. :o( We don't understand exactly what is wrong, but we heard Rinky's name mentioned alot by mom and mom telling Miss LuLu that Rinky must not be feeling good since she can't find a comfortable place to lay down and she's been panting alot. Mom told Miss LuLu she would go with her and her dad if Miss LuLu would like her to. Where's everyone going?

I'm sending big Pei hugs to Rinky and hope everything is going to be o.k. soon. I don't like to see my mama crying and don't like to hear my pal isn't feeling good.

Feel Better Soon Rinky!!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I've been tagged By my good friend and fellow Texan Whitley, so here we go...

1. Do you ever wake your parent up in the night?
No. I sleep all night long. I don't even get up to go out when Doo wakes up mom. Which is ALL. THE. TIME!

2. Do you ever tear up things?
I like to tear up kleenex/paper towels/napkins...any paper product. :O) I also like to pull out the fur and threads in my toys with my front teeth.

3. What is your favorite treat?
Any of the meaty flavored dog treats--Pupperioni, T-bones, Beggin Strips...things like that.

4. Can you fetch something when asked to do so?
Nope. I see no reason to. BOL

5. Have you ever lived any place other than where you live now?
Yes. I used to live with this man who kept me in a room with no windows or lights of any kind. And then I got rescued by the North American Shar Pei Rescue (NASPR) and lived in Galveston, Texas with my foster family for awhile until I came to live with my mama and Doo.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Well, mom took laptop computer #1 back this morning and got another one. She got an Ienovo which is what IBM is called now a days!! The new mouse areas are like the new Iphones where you touch the screen to do everything. (Mom's kinda old school and has no clue how to work the Iphones and has only seen them on TV.) So anytime she touched it with the slightest touch the cursor would move all over the screen and it would do stuff that she had no clue how she did it or how to undo it. Too sophisticated for mom!! The new puter has a button where you can turn off the mousepad, so that keeps the cursor from going to another line or word. That is such a nice feature for mom. So, for now things are good. Thank Goodness!! Thanks for all the kind words and letting us know that other mom's are kinda computer unsavvy too! BOL]]></content:encoded>

She'll be typing along and the next thing she knows she's on another line typing on top or in the middle of other words!! She doesn't know how or why it does it and has no clue as how to make it stop. Mom types REAL fast and this s-l-o-w-s her way down and says it's a pain in the butt! What happened to the good ole days when a person could just type and not have to worry about the cursor moving all around on its own???? I think this new machine is going back and she'll be buying a simpler one! Too much fanagling to do and learn for this old mama!!]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Heaven got a new angel today. We just found out that one of our Texas Pei pals, Max, crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. We are so sad. He had a 3 inch tumor removed from his intestines back in December. He had been doing good and made it to his 8th birthday in March and even came to San Antonio in February.

It is with a heavy and sad heart that we are sending his family lots of hugs and kisses and keeping them in our thoughts and prayers.

If you'd like to go visit his page and send some love to his pawrents, his ID # is 371613. I know they would love to hear from everyone.

Run free Max.
Enjoy your new life in Heaven, PAIN FREE!
Keep watch over your mom and dad...their hearts are breaking and they miss you so much!

Your Forever Pals,
Austin & Doo]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Just a few minutes ago, mom and I got back from my first walk ever!! At least with mom it was. Mom decided to take me for a walk since I like to go outside with her when she checks mail and when she takes the garbage cans to the street. Today, I sat on the drive way and was watching some people a few houses down from us. I was wagging my tail and mom's always saying how good I am when I go out with her because I never try to run away. So she found Doo's collar and leash and decided we'd take a walk. She was just going to walk me down the paved alleyway to the end of the block but when she saw how good I was doing, we decided to walk around the whole block. It was SO exciting and I was sniffing and grinning the whole time. (I didn't pee on every single thing I saw or found, I only did it once.) I didn't pull on the leash or try to run away or slip my collar either. I was such a good boy!! (I even got over the fact that I was wearing a pink collar and had a pink leash!! BOL) I sure hope we go again tomorrow. She might take me and then Doo until we get used to going for walks and then she might get one of those leashes that hooks on 2 collars at once and then she can take us both at the same time. It'll do all of us some good, being in the fresh air and getting some exercise!! Now I know how excited everyone is when their mom's or dad's take them for a walk!! I LOVE IT!!! Thanks mom!! I can't wait til we go again!!]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ When mom went to go get her food from Taco Cabana (see the story on Doo's page), Doo was already outside and I didn't indicate that I wanted to go out with her when mom asked if I wanted out. So, she left me inside and ran down the street and when she came back I was there waiting for her at the door into the garage. I was so happy to see her, you would have thought she had been gone for days rather than just a few minutes!

Usually when mom is getting ready to go somewhere, I get real anxious and nervous and have to go out side to pee immediately!! So she's always happily surprised when she runs down the street for a minute with me inside the house. But I proved ONCE AGAIN tonight that I'm a good boy and am not bad at all in the house when I'm left alone!! Yep, its an Austin thing!! (Doo, not being me, would tear everything, ANYTHING up while mom's gone, thus the reason we don't get to stay inside when mom's working and have to be subjected to the elements-- Sweltering HEAT, Freezing COLD, Hurricaine force RAIN (any rain, really)! Hmm...maybe mom should just leave ME inside and let DOO stay outside!! BIG Ole Stoopid Doo!! If it wasn't for her we would get to stay inside all the time when mom's gone.) :o(]]></content:encoded>

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ How Could You?

When I was a puppy, I entertained you with my antics and made you laugh. You called me your child, and despite a number of chewed shoes and a couple of murdered throw pillows, I became your best friend. Whenever I was “bad,” you’d shake your finger at me and ask, “How could you?” — but then you’d relent and roll me over for a belly rub.

My housebreaking took a little longer than expected, because you were terribly busy, but we worked on that together. I remember those nights of nuzzling you in bed and listening to your confidences and secret dreams, and I believed that life could not be any more perfect.

We went for long walks and runs in the park, car rides, stops for ice cream (I only got the cone because “ice cream is bad for dogs” you said), and I took long naps in the sun waiting for you to come home at the end of the day.

Gradually, you began spending more time at work and on your career, and more time searching for a human mate. I waited for you patiently, comforted you through heartbreaks and disappointments, never chided you about bad decisions, and romped with glee at your homecomings, and when you fell in love.

She, now your wife, is not a “dog person” — still I welcomed her into our home, tried to show her affection, and obeyed her. I was happy because you were happy. Then the human babies came along and I shared your excitement. I was fascinated by their pinkness, how they smelled, and I wanted to mother them, too. Only she and you worried that I might hurt them, and I spent most of my time banished to another room, or to a dog crate.

Oh, how I wanted to love them, but I became a “prisoner of love.” As they began to grow, I became their friend. They clung to my fur and pulled themselves up on wobbly legs, poked fingers in my eyes, investigated my ears, and gave me kisses on my nose. I loved everything about them and their touch — because your touch was now so infrequent — and I would’ve defended them with my life if need be. I would sneak into their beds and listen to their worries and secret dreams, and together we waited for the sound of your car in the driveway. There had been a time, when others asked you if you had a dog, that you produced a photo of me from your wallet and told them stories about me.

These past few years, you just answered “yes” and changed the subject. I had gone from being “your dog” to “just a dog,” and you resented every expenditure on my behalf. Now, you have a new career opportunity in another city, and you and they will be moving to an apartment that does not allow pets. You’ve made the right decision for your “family,” but there was a time when I was your only family.

I was excited about the car ride until we arrived at the animal shelter. It smelled of dogs and cats, of fear, of hopelessness. You filled out the paperwork and said, “I know you will find a good home for her.” They shrugged and gave you a pained look. They understand the realities facing a middle-aged dog, even one with “papers.” You had to pry your son’s fingers loose from my collar, as he screamed “No, Daddy Please don’t let them take my dog!" And I worried for him, and what lessons you had just taught him about friendship and loyalty, about love and responsibility, and about respect for all life.

You gave me a good-bye pat on the head, avoided my eyes, and politely refused to take my collar and leash with you. You had a deadline to meet and now I have one, too. After you left, the two nice ladies said you probably knew about your upcoming move months ago and made no attempt to find me another good home. They shook their heads and asked, “How could you?”

They are as attentive to us here in the shelter as their busy schedules allow. They feed us, of course, but I lost my appetite days ago. At first, whenever anyone passed my pen, I rushed to the front, hoping it was you that you had changed your mind — that this was all a bad dream… or I hoped it would at least be someone who cared, anyone who might save me.

When I realized I could not compete with the frolicking for attention of happy puppies, oblivious to their own fate, I retreated to a far corner and waited. I heard her footsteps as she came for me at the end of the day, and I padded along the aisle after her to a separate room. A blissfully quiet room. She placed me on the table and rubbed my ears, and told me not to worry. My heart pounded in anticipation of what was to come, but there was also a sense of relief. The prisoner of love had run out of days. As is my nature, I was more concerned about her. The burden which she bears weighs heavily on her, and I know that, the same way I knew your every mood. She gently placed a tourniquet around my foreleg as a tear ran down her cheek. I licked her hand in the same way I used to comfort you so many years ago. She expertly slid the hypodermic needle into my vein. As I felt the sting and the cool liquid coursing through my body, I lay down sleepily, looked into her kind eyes and murmured, “How could you?” Perhaps because she understood my dog speak, she said, “I’m so sorry.”

She hugged me, and hurriedly explained it was her job to make sure I went to a better place, where I wouldn’t be ignored or abused or abandoned, or have to fend for myself — a place of love and light so very different from this earthly place. And with my last bit of energy, I tried to convey to her with a thump of my tail that my “How could you?” was not directed at her.

It was directed at you, My Beloved Master, I was thinking of you. I will think of you and wait for you forever. May everyone in your life continue to show you so much loyalty.]]></content:encoded>

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hi Everyone,

Austin's mom here. I just wanted to take a minute to thank all of Austin's pup pals and their pawrents for all the nice gifts you gave Austin for his special day. It left me speechless how many he got. We got up early today (I guess it was yesterday now) at 6:30, and the gifts and well wishes had already started to come in, and they were coming in all the way up until I started writing this. We tried to get all the thank yous out, but if you didn't get yours today you will definitely get it tomorrow.

Austin is such a wonderful boy and so deserving of all that he can get. He is the sweetest boy ever. He never gets in trouble (except when he incessantly licks his paws) and has the best disposition. After having a Pei before Austin and talking to all our Pei friends here on Dogster, it seems to be a common trait of theirs. He had such a miserable life before I got him and its my honor to make sure he never has another bad day in his life again. He's not overly affectionate but thats o.k., we cope. He loves to have his tummy rubbed, loves his treats, loves me talking baby talk to him and tolerates me giving him kisses. He's the best and I couldn't have asked for a better son! He's my heart.

Again, my sincere thanks to everyone for their love for my boy. It is so sincerly appreciated.

Love to You All,
Lou Ann]]></content:encoded>

We know everyone is addressing their christmas cards and getting them in the mail, but we like to do the e-cards. Mom sends some really nice ones. We have a bunch of our pup pal's home e-mail addresses but we have TONS of friends and rather than send everyone a paw-mail, we thought we'd put our request here. We love sending out cards, and if you're reading this and would like us to send you one for Christmas, can ya'll paw-mail us and give us your home e-mail address. We won't give it out to anyone...we'll keep it top secret. We want to give all our pals cards, and thought this was the easiest way to get everyone's addresses. If you don't want to give your e-mail address, we understand.

We're looking forward to hearing from everyone!!

Luv to You,

<description>Wouldn&acirc;t you know it? Cody, a beloved fixture at his people&acirc;s BP gas station and convenience sto ...</description>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Wouldn’t you know it? Cody, a beloved fixture at his people’s BP gas station and convenience store in Clearwater, Fla., is no longer allowed to show up at the store where he is beloved by customers.

This affable chocolate Labrador retriever delighted customers for several months. His favorite “job” was as a canine clerk of sorts. When customers pulled up to the store’s drive-thru window, up would pop a smiling dog wearing a green BP T-shirt and a nametag. He’d stand there wagging, delighting customers and making even the gruffest customers smile. And kids were crazy for him.

“He hears the bell and goes running. When he pops up, that sets it off,” Karim Mansour, the store’s owner and dog’s person, told the St. Petersburg Times last month. “Uncontrollable giggling.”

Cody was also a calming presence in the unpredictable world of convenience store life. ” People come in drunk, stoned, angry, you name it,” said Mansour, who adopted the 6-year-old dog three years ago. “He calms them down. Animals have the ability to soothe the human soul.”

Cody’s popularity grew, and a local newspaper picked up on the winsome clerk. Cody went semi viral on the internet. He was an international hit. But alas, among those who read about Cody were state health inspectors. They paid a visit, and yesterday gave Mansour a warning:

Either Cody goes, or the Florida Department of Agriculture will declare all of Mansour’s food products unfit for consumption, the St. Pete Times reports.

Mind you, we’re not talking hot dogs and fresh food here. All of the store’s food products are wrapped or bottled. So apparently the mere presence of Cody means that all bottled water, Slim Jims, chips, and candy are considered contaminated.

It’s the most ridiculous thing we’ve heard in a long time. We’re sure that a percentage of the customers who visit the store pose much more of a contamination risk. There’s no risk from Cody, unless he goes around doing leg-lifts on the Fritos. And he does not.

Cody loved going to the store, and being around his people and customers all day. Now, thanks to an arcane rule about dogs posing a health hazard to food, the sweet boy will have to stay home. The inspector noted that Cody would be allowed to spend his day in the store’s back room. But Mansour says no way.

"Cody would think he was being punished if I put him back there,” he said.

So Mansour is going to leave Cody at home. At least Cody has two other dogs there. But when he falls asleep, he’ll surely dream of the happy days when he got to wear his shirt and nametag and make people smile.

Wouldn't it be nice if whenever we messed up our life we could simply press 'Ctrl Alt Delete' and start all over?

Why is it that our children can't read a Bible in school, but they can in prison?

Why do I have to swear on the Bible in court when the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed outside?

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

Marriage changes passion.
Suddenly you're in bed with a relative.

Wouldn't you know it....
Brain cells come and brain cells go, but FAT cells live forever.

Bumper sticker of the year:
'If you can read this, thank a teacher -and, since it's in English, thank a soldier'.

And remember: life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ CLEARWATER

The sequence of events happens dozens of times every day at the BP gas station/convenience store at U.S. 19 at Nursery Road.

An unsuspecting customer pulls up to the drive-through window. But instead of a store clerk, up pops two paws, deep brown eyes and the tongue-flapping grin of a happy chocolate Labrador retriever named Cody.

Kids in the back seats of minivans often squeal with joy.

Even the usually stony faces of gruff construction worker-types can't help but crack a smile under the dog's unpretentious greeting.

"He hears the bell and goes running. When he pops up, that sets it off," said Karim Mansour, the store's and dog's owner. "Uncontrollable giggling."

The only thing that tops Cody's enthusiasm for a customer, is a customer who has a dog with him.

It all started one day five months ago when Mansour decided to bring his dog to work. He didn't think much of it at the time — he just wanted to have his best friend with him while he worked the sometimes slow, and occasionally, dangerous, early morning shift. The dog was given free rein of the store, and as a joke, Mansour put a shirt with a BP logo on the dog, and gave him a name tag.

"While he's here, he's an employee. My rule is, 'all employees need to wear the shirt,' " Mansour said.

Without trying, Cody, always eager to greet any friendly stranger, quickly became a celebrity among store regulars.

"The first time I saw him, he had his tail just waggin' and waggin'," said Richard Mealey, who comes in a few times a week. "I love dogs. He's great."

But the best part might be the double-takes the dog elicits at the drive-through window.

"Oh, he's adorable," said customer Candy Thompson when greeted at the window by Cody. "Oh, he's such a big lover."

Photo shoots with cell phone cameras from the drive-through window are commonplace.

But the BP station is also like most other convenience stores — a sometimes strange melting pot of people from every class and creed, who at any given time could be going through some rough emotion. For those customers, Cody is the solution. He can do what the normal gas station clerk usually cannot.

"Convenience stores are so unpredictable. People come in drunk, stoned, angry, you name it," Mansour said. "He calms them down. Animals have the ability to soothe the human soul."

Earlier this year, a woman who had been fighting with her husband came into the station.

"She came in all sorts of bawling and crying," Mansour said.

Cody, sensing something wasn't right, went to the woman. She put her face next to his, and sat on the floor with him. After several minutes talking to Cody, the woman pulled herself together.

"By the time she was done petting him, she'd stopped crying and seemed a lot better. 'Finally,' she must have thought, 'someone who listens and doesn't talk back,' " Mansour said.

Ironically, Mansour acquired Cody three years ago when an acquaintance, who was going through a divorce, could no longer take care of him.

Since Cody's following has grown, Mansour said, he has also seen a slight uptick in customer retention — a boon, considering his business has seen a slump in recent months.

"That Hess down the street is a superstore. It wipes me down. But people might come the extra half mile or so to get the more personal service — or just to see the dog, he said.

"In a dog-eat-dog world, when our economy sucks and business is hard, you've got to find a way to stand out

How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a " penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?

What disease did cured ham actually have?

How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby " when babies wake up like every two hours?

Why are you IN a movie, but you're ON TV?

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

Why do doctors leave the room while you change?
They're goNnA to see you naked anyway.

Why's "bra" singular and "panties" plural?

Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours?

So here goes...

1) I'm mom's favorite
2) I never get in trouble (EVER!)
3) I like to sleep in front of the big screen TV by the speakers.
4) I'm a couch potato and I sleep on the couch at night too.
5) I don't tear up things (except kleenex's and dryer sheets) so mom can really leave me in the house without any worries. (She CAN'T do that with Doo!)
6) My incessant licking of my feet drives mom nuts!! BOL
 7) I miss my grandmom very much and hope she gets better soon so she can come to see me again!!

OK, I'm gonna tag 7 of my friends. I choose:

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I only ate Beneful (regular original) dog food. Mom would try to pawn off the Beneful with chicken or the "weight concious" Beneful, all to NO avail. Nope, we weren't gonna eat it mom!! Some days I wouldn't even eat at all. Mom could never figure out why and I wasn't telling her. I just turned my nose up at the food and walked away.

A few months ago she had gotten this coupon from Purina for a free bag of dog food up to 50 pounds or $49.99, so she bought me and Doo Purina One. Well that stuff was GREAT! I ate it all up every single day. Then mom noticed I was getting chubby. Yep, me...the little slim and trim boy!! (I really don't look fat, per se, I just look like I have the body of a Bull Dog with longer legs--BOL) So the only conclusion mom could come to was that the Purina One was making me fat (er, chubby), so she would cut back and cut back and cut back on the size of my portions. Pretty soon I wouldn't be eating if she kept cutting back! BOL So, today it was time for her to buy us some food, so being the thoughtful mama that she is (yeah, OK) she bought the "Weight Concious" Beneful again, taking her chances that I'll eat it. (She figured I've been eating all my Purina One every day, that maybe I'd continue on with the pattern.) Well, guess what??? I DID eat it! ALL OF IT! YAY MOM! HECK, YAY ME!! She's so happy that she won't have to buy me another bag of regular Beneful and let Doo eat this "weight concious" bag (not that she couldn't use it thats fur sure!!). So, mom's hoping that in a few weeks she'll see some of this weight come off me. And then maybe she'll quit calling me Chubba Butt!!!]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ My fellow Texan pal Boz who was tagged by MY sister Doo and Coda tagged me. Here are the rules: Tell 7 random facts about yourself. Post these facts & the game rules in your diary. Then tag 5 dogs (don't forget to list their names) who must tell 7 random facts about themselves. Let these dogs know they've been tagged by sending them a Paw-mail or rosette.

Hmmm let me think. Ok, my 7 facts about me are:

1) I pretty much don't like human food.

2) I can pick up my stuffies on the run when I'm running in the house from outside.

3) I've never EVER given my mama a kiss, EVER! (That has never stopped her though and I hold my breath when she kisses me!!)

4) I'm not a big barker like Doodle is.

5) I run and bark in my sleep. (Hmmm, see #4 above!!??)

6) I have a girlfriend Saige who lives in the same state as Doo's boyfriend, Tank. (But they don't know each other in person, only from here at Dogster)

7) Don't tell Doo, but I'm mom's favorite! ;o)

Thank You Boz for tagging me!

OK, I'm gonna tag:
1) Lola 2) Max 3) Coco 4) Maximus and 5) Flicka

OK everyone...YOU ARE IT!! :o)]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hey Everybuddy...I'm sure you all know by now that the World's Coolest Dog (& Cat) Show is going on right now. I just want to tell everybuddy to tell their moms or dads to be sure they enter your picture in the contest. They have tons of categories for your pictures and you'll have a hard time deciding which picture should go where. Everyone can vote for all the pictures they want, and DOGSTER will give you zealies for voting too! HOW COOL IS THAT! Mom's been voting like an idiot (sorry mom, but you have been at the computer ALL day long voting and all night long too !!) so we can get bunches of zealies to give pressies to all our pals!! (She even put a picture of me and one of Doo in the contest too.) ;o)

We've seen some of our friends pictures there too like Lola and Jake and Max and Saphira and Wrinkles and Ebony. Hope to see your picture there soon!!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I've known all along that I was a good boy and of course mom's favorite, and tonight just proved it once again. Mom had to run some errands earlier and picked up some food at Taco Cabana for her supper. When she got home she found out they had given her the wrong order so after calling them, she decided to go right then to get the order corrected. She let Doo outside but I didn't come to the door, so mom just left me inside all by myself!! And I didn't tear up anything or get into any trouble at all! OF COURSE!! Its been raining today and the temps were in the 50s, but mom knew that if she left Doo in, even tho she was only going to be gone maybe 10 minutes, Doo would have gotten into something and tore it up (or ate it up--depending on what it was she found). But mom knows she can leave me in and I'll be a good boy. She always feels bad that she has to put me outside when its cold or rainy and she says I'm suffering the consequences because of Doo. Hmmmm, maybe she'll start leaving me inside when she has to go to work (if she EVER gets another job!!) and I'll just stare out the sliding glass door and taunt Doo and laugh in her face. NA NA NA NA NA NAAA! Pffttt! I'm In and You're NOT!!! HEHEHEHEHE!!

We have been good friends with Lexie, her brother Hooch and her brother Milo, and hadn't heard from them in quite a long time. We dropped them a note on September 3rd, and they wrote us back that they had been busy, and then we just read about Lexie passing today!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Since I've taken about a week off from playing the Noun Hound game (I was talking like a pirate and giving out flags and tagging my friends in the new tag game) and given everybuddy's brain a rest, I thought I best sit down and compose a new game. So here it is ladies and gents, the clues you've been waiting for all week....

Clues:

1. When the male of the species reaches maturity, it has a bald spot on its head.

2. Unlike many native Australian animals, we are not endangered.

3. We usually live in groups of 15-30, consisting of 7 adults and their young.

4. Our gestation is only 16 days and we can have 4 babies at once.

5. We are native to eastern and northern mainland Australia, New Guinea, and the Bismarck Archipelago, and introduced to Tasmania.

When you have the answer, paw mail me and let me know what you think. Remember, don't post it in the comment section for this entry because everyone will know the answer if you're right! ;o)

So get those thinking caps back on and let the game begin....

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ We found this on one of the group pages here on Dogster about Mike Vick being able to go back to the NFL. We wanted to share with you so you too can sign the petition they talk about on Care2!! Lets all join together and bocott the NFL for letting MV come back to play!

Dogster is an amazing place full of happy, silly photos of a new stance, reaction to a toy, happy chases ~ so many cherished moments. And, when necessary, we grieve together when having to guide one of our beloved to the Bridge. We are truly lucky and loved. With that said, this diary post is not about us, but for those beautiful dogs whose lives were not humanely celebrated.

We are very disappointed and saddened that MV has been conditionally reinstated by the NFL. While it’s been stated that legally he’s paid a debt to society, a far greater debt remains and one incapable of recompense. We demand much more than a publicist-driven campaign in concert with HSUS to indemnify the torture, starvation, slaughter and sadism of MV. We want more than insincere atonement and photo ops. We want those lives that were lost to his heinous brutality and greed to matter.

As a personal form of protest to the profit-driven decision of the NFL, from this day forward we will no longer purchase items containing an NFL insignia. This may mean a change in some of Mom’s food items, but it’s our way, albeit small, of honoring the lives of far too many.

Rest sweetly, pups. We will never forget.]]></content:encoded>

		<description>Hi Everyone...

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hi Everyone...

Grandmom came to stay with us last Friday for a week to give mom's sister a much needed break. Well, Monday morning (7/13) mom got up early to get grandmom fed cause mom's brother was coming to take grandmom out to lunch and since grandmom is a diabetic mom wanted to make sure her meals aren't too close together or too far apart. Mom got all the trash together to take to the street for pickup and came back in and noticed grandmom's walker at her bathroom door. So mom popped her head in to make sure she was alright. Grandmom was putting on her pull ups (sorry - I know thats kinda too much info, but grandmom is 84 and ya'll need to understand what took place. ) Well, mom put the pull up so far and walked out so grandmom could finish it herself. Next thing mom hears is grandmom hollering and a big THUD! Grandmom had fallen flat on her face and was gushing blood from her head where she had hit it on the tile floor. So of course mom goes into MAJOR PANIC mode and runs around like a chicken with its head cut off, but then gets things going and gets wet wash cloths for grandmom's head and everything but can't get her up off the floor so calls a friend of grandmom's who is a retired nurse, then called 911. The EMS came and took her to the hospital and they did a CAT scan, x-rays and put stitches in her forehead where she cut it. After a few hours she got to come home to our house and then family came over to visit and all, then after everyone left, when grandmom would need to go potty, mom would pull her up, get her situated in her walker and mom would go with grandmom to the bathroom and follow her to make sure she didn't fall again. This went on for several hours and things were going good. Then grandmom decides she wants to go to bed and mom goes over to help her get up and grandmom can't help mom--can't push herself off the couch and says she can't bend her knees cause it hurt too much (from the fall). So mom tries and tries for over an hour, and grandmom keept scooching to the edge of the couch to see if that would help her be able to get up, and mom said not to do that, because she would end up on the floor and mom CAN NOT help her up! So, mom decided to call 911 again and its right at midnight now. They came and took her back to the hospital and thats where she is right now. Since she's in such pain from the fall and can't help herself to assist mom in getting her up, she's going to go into a rehab place to get her strength back and let her sore muscles re-coop.

The place they're going to take grandmom one of her doctors that use to attend to her when she still lived alone here in San Antonio, is in charge of the nursing facility where she's going and is going to approve mom to be able to stay there for 100 days for medicare to pay for it rather than us, and she's going to be getting good physical and occupational therapy. So...she might be in pain, but she's going to be getting good care to get better.

OK, now I need to tell you some things about grandmom that you might or might not know since we've become very good friends with so many pups and their pawrents here on Dogster, so you'll understand why all of this is so dramatic/traumatic for grandmom.

Grandmom suffers from end stage renal failure (she was on dialysis for many months several years ago, but got better enough to not have to do it any more), has a pacemaker (her 2nd one), has diabetes and has end stage liver disease. So in other words, grandmom is VERY VERY ILL. One of the things that is happening to her is her liver isn't filtering stuff like its supposed to, so grandmom's ammonia levels get real high (normal is between 5-30 and grandmom's was 100 this morning and thats not as high as it has been). The high ammonia levels if not treated with this certain (and only one) medication, can start affecting the brain and she'll loose her memory, capability to walk and other bad stuff and eventually she can go into a coma. But, the medicine's side effect is it gives the patient diarrhea to pull all the poisonous ammonia out of them. Well, grandmom has decided she doesn't want to go thru that any more and refuses to take the medicine. But, today we have talked her into taking it since she's going to be going into a nursing facility and someone will be there 24/7 to help her when the accidents happen. We want them ammonia levels down so it doesn't do too much damage to her brain or her go into a coma. She's still alert and can joke around with the doctors and nurses so we know she CAN get better, she just HAS to take the medicine.

So, thats my story of grandmom's visit and why mom is not sleeping well and is very stressed! So, if we seem to ignore Dogster, please don't think we are upset with anyone, its just we can't type too well with these paws of ours (and you know how BIG Doo's are! BOL) and we don't have that opposable thumb so we have to tell mom what we want her to write to everyone.

So cross your paws and bow your heads and keep grandmom in your prayers at night that she gets better and is here with us for a long time to come. I'm kinda her favorite grandpup, so you know I don't want her to leave us ever!!

All Our Love to You, Our Friends...
Austin, Doodle and mom (Lou Ann)

P.S. I'm so sorry this is soooo long, but wanted to explain it all to you cause I'm always talking about my grandmom and ya'll kinda "know her" thru us.~~A]]></content:encoded>

What kind of ice cream are you ?

Here we go......

I am going to tag six friends and tell them what kind of ice cream I look like. Then they tag six of their friends to tell what kind of ice cream they look like! Sprinkles count too!

What is your favorite color? I don't know that I have one.

Are you bad when nobody's looking? no..

Are you friendly? No--I'm still leary of people although some come up to our gate to talk to me and Doo, but love mama and grandmom

Are you overweight? no (maybe a few ounces--MAYBE)

Do you eat people food? Not really, I've tried a few things that mom gives me but it'll take me like 10 minutes just to eat something small--like a piece of cheese or meat; I chew it, then spit it out then smell it, then repeat all over again until its gone or I'm done with that routine and I just leave it there

Do you eat bugs? yuck no way!

Do you live with other animals? yes..my sister Doo

Do you like to swim? Mom doesn't know--we don't have a pool, but like I said I used to live in Galveston and its on the Texas coast, so it could be a possibility, but I honestly doubt it.( there aren't couches where we would go to swim)

What is your favorite treat? all treats are my fav

Do you shed? oh boy do i , im a brush coat so its all over the place.

Do you belong to any dog clubs? lots...

How does your owner describe you? as the cutest boy in the world!]]></content:encoded>

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Billy Graham was returning
To Charlotte after a speaking engagement and when his Plane arrived there was a limousine there to transport him to his home.

As he prepared to get into the limo, he stopped
and spoke to the driver.

'You know' he said, 'I am 87 years old and I have never
driven a limousine. Would you mind if I drove it for a while?'

The driver said,

'No problem. Have at it.'

Billy gets into the driver's seat and they head off
down the highway.
A short distance away
sat a rookie State Trooper operating his first speed trap.

The long black limo went by him doing 70 in a 55 mph zone.

The trooper pulled out
and easily caught the limo
and he got out of his patrol car to begin the procedure.

The young trooper walked up to the driver's door
and when the glass
was rolled down,
he was surprised to see
who was driving.

He immediately excused himself and went back to his car
and called his supervisor.

He told the supervisor,
'I know we are supposed
to enforce the law....
But I also know that
important people are
given certain courtesies.
I need to know what
I should do because
I have stopped a
very important person.'

The supervisor asked,
'Is it the governor?'

The young trooper said,
'No, he's more important
than that.'

The supervisor said,
'Oh, so it's the president.'

The young trooper said,
'No, he's even more
important than that.'

The supervisor finally asked,

'Well then, who is it?'

The young trooper said,

'I think it's Jesus,
because he's got Billy Graham for a chauffeur!'

Smile - God loves you! I ask the Lord to bless you, as I pray for you today;
to guide you and protect you, as you go along your way
God's love is always with you, God's promises are true.
And when you give God all your cares, you know God will see you through!]]></content:encoded>

<description>Doodle, mom and I want to wish all our friends and their parents a Happy Memorial Day this coming ...</description>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Doodle, mom and I want to wish all our friends and their parents a Happy Memorial Day this coming weekend.

Military runs deep in Mom's blood, and she gets sentimental about such holidays--and with a National Cemetery here in San Antonio there's ceremonies on Memorial Day and Vetern's Day every year. There's placing of wreaths for those who have given their lives to protect our country and given us our Freedom, Also the Boy Scouts put small American Flags on each and every grave in the cemetery. Its a sight to behold and brings a lump to the throat and tears to the eye.

Mom's dad served in WWII and the Korean War and retired after 20 years in the Air Force due to a medical discharge. Her oldest brother was in the Army but never saw combat. He was supposed to go to Viet Nam but didn't go due to medical conditions also (he was a hemophiliac). Mom's husband served tours of duty in the Viet Nam war and spent 30 years in the Air Force retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant (the highest enlisted rank in the Air Force).

Since there were 5 military bases here in San Antonio (4 Air Force and 1 Army--some which have since been closed) and mom worked for the Department of Defense at one time and also the Social Security Admin, a lot of her friends are also military families. I guess you can say the military and government has taken care of mom in one way shape or form from the time she was born until the present time.

We want all of you to take a moment this weekend and reflect on the lives that were lost and those that are protecting us to this day to help us keep our freedom.

If you travel, be careful and come back safe and sound.

Be kind to one another.

We Love You Always,
Austin, Doodle and mom Lou Ann]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ We're so happy Dogster gave us the ability to give gifts to our friends for free--NO ZEALIES--which is great, cause we're zealie broke! So, we gave EACH AND EVERY ONE OF OUR FRIENDS a gift to let them know we love them and how thankful we are that they're our friends. Thats like winning the lottery for us, cause we have over 200 friends and each of them are special to us. We're so glad we got to let each of them know we love them from the bottom of our hearts.

Mom had been thinking about asking Dogster if they were ever going to let us have more free gifts like the Frebreeze collars last year. They must have read her mind, cause they did it!! YAY DOGSTER!! YOU ROCK!!

We hope all of our friends enjoy their gifts and know we truly love each and every one of you!

		<description>Hi Everyfur...

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hi Everyfur...

I know we all try to find ways to help dogs and cats that aren't always as fortunate as those of us who have loving furever homes. I'm sure everyone knows about "Free Kibble.com", "Care2" (that has several things to click for--breast cancer, pets, seals, oceans, violence, etc.) and of course "The Animal Rescue Site" (with the purple paw to click) that gives food to pups and kitties.

I wanted to let you know 2 other that I know about/found out about. One is called "Dog Pile Search & Rescue". Its a search engine that you can use (kinda like Google) that everytime you use it, it donates food to pups and kits. I copied the info from the site and posted it below:

Easy Ways to Get Involved
Dogpile is on a mission to help rescue pets.
Join us in the fight to end animal cruelty and find loving homes for all adoptable pets. We're making it easier than ever. Search the Web on Dogpile and a portion of the revenue generated is donated to the ASPCA®.* Plus, now there are even more ways to get involved. Help us raise one million dollars for pets in need by the end
of 2009!

Another way to give to animal charities (or any charity you would like) is to go to the MSN "Live Search Club" which is a place to play games and earn tickets. You can trade your tickets for prizes, and one of the prizes you can "buy" is to donate your tickets to a charity you like. I've picked the charity "Best Friends Animal Society" in Kanab Utah that have taken in some of the Mike Vick dogs and also keeps all pets (horses, dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, etc.) to live out their lives there. I was playing the games so often, that I've given Best Friends over $150 worth of tickets (each ticket is worth 1 cent) in just the past year alone. (Live Search Club will send a check to all the charities that people donate their tickets to every May). Now, we're not able independently wealthy (by any stretch of the imagination), so giving $150 by ourselves would be totally impossible, but by playing games, and donating the tickets, helps in ways we never could. In my opinion $150 is a LOT of money! and can help a lot of animals. (We told Princess Xena who is the #1 player in the Dog Breed Game, because she could probably fund the whole organizations by herself--she's that good at games! BOL).

We know everyone is extremely busy in their lives, but we just thought we'd tell you because we know all our pals here on Dogster like to help those less fortunate than us whenever they can.

Love to Everyone...

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Did mom jump the gun by making our pages ready for St. Paddy's Day so soon? We remember Dogster said they celebrate St. Valentine's Month rather than day!! OH NO! I bet mom forgot. Do you think we should go back and make our pages Valentine ready again? I know some of our friends have put some spring backgrounds on their pages, so maybe mom isn't TOO way off by starting so early. Then she's got Easter and spring coming up, then its memorial Day, then Summertime, then 4th of July, then Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and right back to Valentine's Day again! WOW! She spends more time changes our pages than she does changing her mind! BOL

It takes her so long to do our pages, we can't imagine how long it takes all our friends mama's to do all of theirs when they have more than 2 dogs! She did find out if she took all the codes for what she wants on our pages and puts them on a blank page all at once, then she can just go back and forth copying codes of the stuff she likes rather than seeing what she likes, getting the code, going back to our page, putting it in the boxes, going back for the next one, etc., etc. You get the idea. So by doing all the codes on one page (she separates the ones she want for Doodle from mine) then she only has to go back and copy codes cause she already knows what she wants. Maybe ya'll can tell your mom's and that might save them some time when they do ya'll pages again. (Just thought we'd share).

Till later,

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Thats me! I love to pick up toys around the house that Doo ususally leaves when she goes outside or takes into the garage when we go out with mom to put stuff in the new recycle bin or garbage bin. She has no problem taking toys somewhere, but then she just leaves them. So, its my duty to pick them up and bring them back into the living room where I belong. Mom says I'm the best toy picker upper she's ever seen. I'm so happy I can make mom proud of me, which isn't REAL hard to do, since I'm the bestest pup and Doo isn't! BOL

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Well, last week our neighborhood got some new HUGE trash containers so we could all have matching ones! Not much on individuality, are they? But mom said its for the sanitation people (who used to be called garbage men when she was a little girl) to be able to lift the huge containers with an automatic arm. WHAT-EVER! Like they couldn't just pick the bag up and throw it onto the truck! *rolls eyes*

Anyway, when mom takes the container to the street, I go with her. It is so fun and I LOVE IT!! Last night when we went, I went across the alleyway (where we put our containers) where there is lots of grass--mom calls it a gulley for the rain--and was smelling all kind of new smells. WOW!! Then I was walking around, but not too far from mom--I'm still a little scared--and she didn't want me to run away. (She told me that her first Pei Randy would climb out of the gate and go run the neighborhood. He was used to running the streets as he was a stray when mom found him. She would call him and beg him and try to coax him inside with treats, but he wouldn't have any of it! He wouldn't come in until HE was ready, and sometimes that could be all day and all night! Talk about stubborn!! Mom wouldn't sleep until he was back inside at somtimes it wouldn't be until 2:00! IN THE MORNING!! Can you imagine being OUTSIDE, BY YOURSELF, not wanting to come inside where its warm and dry? Is that a silly dog or a stoopid dog??) Anyway, I don't thim mom has to worry about me running away, but she isn't takin' any chances.

I also go out with her when she says "Lets go get the mail". Boy howdee, I'm up in a FLASH! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE going outside my yard but only with mom!!

Talk to ya soon..

		<description>RESCUE RAINBOW BRIDGE

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ RESCUE RAINBOW BRIDGE

Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp
and as dismal as could be imagined. All of the recent arrivals had no idea what to
think, as they had never experienced a day like this before. But the animals who had
been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to
gather at the pathway leading to The Bridge to watch. It wasn't long before an
elderly animal came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals,
the ones who had been there for a while, knew what his story was right away, for
they had seen this happen far too often.

He approached slowly, obviously in great emotional pain, but with no sign of injury
or illness. Unlike all of the other animals waiting at The Bridge, this animal had
not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again. As he walked toward
The Bridge, he watched all of the other animals watching him. He knew he was out of
place here and the sooner he could cross over, the happier he would be. But, alas, as
he approached The Bridge, his way was barred by the appearance of an Angel who
apologized, but told him that he would not be able to pass. Only those animals who
were with their people could pass over the Rainbow Bridge.

With no place else to turn to, the elderly animal turned towards the fields before
The Bridge and saw a group of other animals like himself, also elderly and infirm.
They weren't playing, but rather simply lying on the green grass, forlornly staring
out at the pathway leading to The Bridge. And so, he took his place among them,
watching the pathway and waiting.

One of the newest arrivals at The Bridge didn't understand what he had just witnessed
and asked one of the animals that had been there for a while to explain it to him. "You
see, that poor animal was a rescue. He was turned in to rescue just as you see him now,
an older animal with his fur graying and his eyes clouding. He never made it out of rescue
and passed on with only the love of his rescuer to comfort him as he left his earthly
existence. Because he had no family to give his love to, he has no one to escort him
across The Bridge."

The first animal thought about this for a minute and then asked, "So what will happen
now?" As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted and the gloom
lifted. Approaching The Bridge could be seen a single person and among the older
animals, a whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light and they were all young
and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of life. "Watch, and see" said the
second animal. A second group of animals from those waiting came to the pathway and
bowed low as the person neared. At each bowed head, the person offered a pat on the
head or a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell into line and
followed him towards The Bridge. They all crossed The Bridge together.

"What happened?"

"That was a rescuer. The animals you saw bowing in respect were those who found new
homes because of his work. They will cross when their new families arrive. Those you
saw restored were those who never found homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed
to perform one final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort those poor animals that
they couldn't place on earth, across The Rainbow Bridge."

"I think I like rescuers", said the first animal.

"So does GOD", was the reply.
