First, I want to say how very excited I am to have my wonderful sweet little sister Ella. She use to be called Garbo, but since she moved to Ellijay, GA dad thought Ella was the perfect name for this sweet little Golden Girl. Here is the Announcement that went out to all the volunteers with AGA:Garbo Adopted and is now an Elijay resident!

I am pleased to announce that Garbo was adopted yesterday by Marcia & Mike Hayden. Many of you saw Marcia and Mike at AD with their Golden daughter, Annie. You couldn't miss her decked out in pearls. The Haydens came in to the program hoping for an English Cream, but live in the mountains of Elijay and have a yard not suitable for a fence. They do have a very deep porch that wraps around the whole house and Mike quickly installed gates on both stairways so that AGA would consider them for a puppy. They came to Adoption Day looking for the right fit.
Garbo was not having her best day. She tried to completely hide her head under the shelving so that no one would see her. But the Haydens did. It didn't matter that she is red instead of cream. They were in love. If you will remember, Garbo was dropped off at a shelter with her brother after "being found in a back yard." Her brother was adopted before AGA arrived, but lucky Garbo was rescued by AGA. Although 6 months old at the time, she was not housebroken and was very shy and scared. We first thought she was blind in one eye, but later found that not to be the case at all. Her foster, Terri Dalton, took Garbo to the vet time after time so that her eye problem could be diagnosed and rediagnosed and finally treated properly. Terri has also worked lovingly and patiently on her potty training, and insisted on a stay at home mom or dad so that her efforts would be continued. The Haydens were smitten with little Garbo and totally undaunted by her shyness or her the appearance of her healing eye, or the fact that she's not totally housebroken. They were anxious for a second meeting, and Terri took Garbo to Elijay yesterday to see if the new home and family would be a good fit. Terri said it was bittersweet. Garbo has hit the doggie jackpot: a doting dad who is an education minister, and a devoted mom who is a teacher and off for the summer. Mom is staying home all summer so that Garbo can get her training and be all settled in before mom has to return to work. In addition to her diva sister, Annie, Garbo will have a feline brother, Bob the Cat. Since the Haydens are empty nesters, the girls will be spoiled rotten onlies most of the time, but will have adult human siblings visiting time to time with their own dogs. I would like to thank everyone who was involved in the rescue and placement of this special little girl -- especially Terri Dalton, her foster, who spent lots of time and energy getting little Garbo ready to adopt, running back and forth to the vet, screening applicants, cleaning up puppy messes, and the list goes on...

OMD, I've never seen so many of my own kind in one place! Mom,dad and I took the long drive from the mountains to the "Big City" Hot Atlanta to the Adopt a Golden Atlanta Adoption Day today. They took me because Mom says I am a main priority in this process. and they wanted me to meet any of the dogs they were considering adopting.
Mom and dad have always bought their Goldens from a breeder, but through our friends here on dogster, they've discovered what a wonderful thing adoption is. We are all new to this process, but we are becoming more impressed by the moment. Let me share a little bit about it with you.
First, mom and dad had to fill out the application, then there were a lot of phone calls and conversations about the kind of home we have and the kind of care I get. Then there was the HOME VISIT! Yes, they came to our house and mom had to give them a tour of the house and our yard and answer questions about how I travel and promise that they would never let me or any other Golden ride in the back of a pick up truck. We don't have a pick up truck and mom said if we did she wouldn't let a child ride in the back of one, so why would she let a Golden Retriever? LoL mom forgets some people don't realize that dogs are kids too!
The Adopt a Golden Atlanta organization wants to make sure that any dog they adopt out gets a good safe home with just the right family for the needs of each dog. Today was sort of a Match Day. We met the dogs and their fosters and they got to talk to us. We learned more about each dog and their particular needs and they learned about our family and our needs. They are trying to get a perfect match. Mom and dad selected three dogs that they were interested in and ranked them. The next step is where the fosters will rank those people that were interested in the dog they have and if there is a match, then we will get a phone call and they will try to set up another meeting. If every thing goes well then, the adoption will be finalized. Then there is a lot of paper work and the changing of the microchip into our name. Goodness, so much to worry about. It was so much fun meeting the dogs and the foster owners. Adopt a Golden Atlanta has an AMAZING thing going on and mom said she thinks she'd like to volunteer with them. As for me, I think I will just take a nap and It dream about the day I may get a new brother or sister to play with. That will be a sweet dream!

Simple pleasures in life come in many forms. Yesterday, I discovered snow flakes.
While walking down our hill, I noticed them falling from the sky. Lots of them. I stood in the silence of the moment and gazed into the air. My eyes followed them as they fell softly on my nose and fur and then, I could contain myself no more; I started biting at them, like I do the marshmellows that mom tosses to me, and I caught those snowflakes. Cool simple pleasures. They kept falling and I kept catching. Mom laughed and of course I did it more. Mom says she sometimes takes the simple things in life for granted.
The sound of the water falling gently over the rocks in the creek below our house, the smell of freshly cut grass, the daffodills as they push through the ground and open their pretty faces each February, and softly falling snow flakes. Mom says I notice these things and help her to appreciate the smiple beauty of our world. I guess that's why she loves to go on walks with me :)

Mom and I went for two walks today. A short one and a long one. Just in case nothing else better comes along, I found a stick and brought it home for a Mother's Day present. I get so excited when I find a good stick! There is always some wiggling and a lot of prancing. It is obvious that I am SO proud of myself.
My second walk was a longer one.
While we were walking mom picked a pretty wild flower from the field near the pond. When we walked completely around the pond, we walked down near to the water. As we got closer, mom tossed the pretty flower in. As she let it go she said, "Holly, this is for you". The wind was blowing a little and the flower floated out into the pond. Then mom smiled and said come on Annie, I've got an idea." We went back to the field and picked two more flowers. We walked back to the pond and again down close to the water. As mom tossed each flower in she said, " Here's one for you, Marley" and then, "Keely, this one's for you". We watched the flowers float out into the water and the geese swam near by. It was a beautiful sight to behold. Three lovely flowers, representing three wonderful lives, Holly, Marley, and Keely. Our friends.
Then we turned around to head back home. While we were walking back around the pond, it started to rain. No thunder or lightening, so mom and I just walked in the rian. At first I kept looking at her like, "is this suppose to be happening, do you realize we're getting wet?" Then I realized that this was GREAT and I got excited and started leaping in the air and shaking the water off of me (on to mom, I might add). When mom and I finally got back up the hills, we were both soaked. I got towel dried off first then combed out and mom sprayed "So Pretty" my smelling spray that I like so much all over me. Now I smell "So Pretty"
It has been a wonderful day, for me and for mom. I hope the girls like their flowers

Mom and I just finished reading "Marley and Me". I was lying on the couch, mom was in the recliner. I could hear her crying; I kept looking over at her, my eyes raised. " Are you alright mom?" Alley, our gray kitty, came up beside the recliner, lifted her paw and meowed, softly. She got in mom's lap. Mom petted her and then Alley got down. Mom continued to read, more tears, more sobbing. "Ok, that's it!" "Let's Play!" I brought her some toys and I barked at her until she stopped reading (and crying) and played with me. (I really did it to make her stop crying, but don't tell her, shhh!") I , like Marley, rested my snout in my friend's lap and looked up into her eyes. As mom finished the book, she remembered this sentence in the story which truly sums up the way we (MOM AND I) feel about our Dogster friends. "Animal lovers are a special breed of humans, generous of spirit, full of empathy, perhaps a little prone to sentimentality, and with hearts as big as a cloudless sky". Mom also felt this line from the book was quite profound , "It's just the most amazing thing to love a dog, isn't it? It makes our relationship with people seem as boring as a bowl of oatmeal." Nodding her head and laughing, mom thought about our times together with pups and pup owners here on Dogster. Mom has come to the conclusion that when dog lovers come together, the oatmeal becomes covered with lots of brown sugar making each boring bite so special, tasty, and wonderful. We love you guys, pups and pup owners.
So, in honor of Marely and all those amazing pups who have brought joy, laughter, smiles and yes, tears into our lives; Mom and I went for a walk in the woods. We enjoyed the beauty of springtime ,and I got to stop and smell everything I wanted to smell. I got to walk in the creek and get mud all over my paws. We didn't hurry back home like we usually do, we just enjoyed the moment, and what it means to enjoy the company of a good friend.

Obviously, my mom and I have differing opinions on what smells good!
Today,is a beautiful spring day and mom and I had lunch on the porch.
The neighbors were gone and mom decided I could go run in the woods for a few minutes.
Mom sat on a big rock and waited for me to come back. She waited and waited and waited!
Usually, I'm back in a minute or two, just to check in and then run off again, but today was a different day. I was exploring the woods, and I found the most WONDERFUL smelling
thing in the world. I'm not sure what it was, but I knew mom was going to
love how it smelled on me! So I rolled in it and got it all over my coat and in my
fur, on my face and in my tail and all over my paws, all four of them. Mom started
calling me. I heard her and she could hear me in the woods, the leaves make noise you know.
Finally, I came running back. I was so proud of myself, I wagged my tail as I
approached mom. I didn't have to get to close before she groaned, "Oh Annie!"
I knew she'd be happy! "Oh no, Annie, what did you get into, oh my!"
"What ?" I thought. I followed mom to the front door at which time she grabbed my collar
and opened the door. She called to dad. She told him to hold me while she went
to get the dog shampoo. You'd think she'd allow me to be an individual, think
for myself. No way. She took me upstairs and the whole way up, she kept
saying, "Shewwwww, Annie, gross!" That wasn't very nice to make fun of the
lovely perfume I'd selected to wear.
Mom says I'm a typical middle schooler, asserting myself, trying to be independent!
I thought she'd like the smell, I did!!! Ok, maybe I didn't really care if she liked it or not, I liked it a lot, that's why I got it all over me!
Mom told me while she was giving me
my bath, that I'd lost my privilege to run free for awhile. She said she knew
I'd head right back to where I got the smell and roll in it again, so we're back
to walking on the leash. That's ok, I like leash walks too!

My mom and dad are SO proud of me! Yesterday, mom and dad drove down to Macon to see my skin sister present her Master's Research Project. Then mom and dad took my skin sister and her husband out to dinner. My other skin sister and her husband who live in the same town I live, came over to take me out and feed me, that way I would not be closed up for 10 hours without food or water or a potty break.
After mom and dad ate dinner and were heading back home (a normal 3 hour drive with good Atlanta traffic), mom called Kayann to tell them they were on the road, only to find out that Kayann had fed me TWO SCOOPS (about 4 cups) of Dog Food. I normally get 1 and 1/4 cups for dinner. Then Kayann and Darren took me out to potty, I did not need to go then. Finally, the real clincher, they just put me in mom's bedroom, not in my crate! When mom and dad found out, dad drove like a Bat out of (the bad place) trying to get home. They made it back to Ellijay in 2 hours, without a ticket! When they came in, I was SO excited to see them and they were SO EXCITED to see I HAD NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT....and they were glad to see me too! Mom said I was such a big girl and she asked me, "We're did my Puppy Go?" I didn't go anywhere, she did! I think she's getting older and forgets things!
Anyway, they had a great time visiting with Adam and Suzanne, Eating a Wonderful Dinner and then coming home to their All Grown up Golden Girl!

Mom and I just got in from a nice long walk. It is very cool here today. Not spring like at all. Mom had to wear her gloves and a coat for the walk; I wore my coat too! (ha,ha)
On the way back home, just before the first of two hills we climb along our walk, I picked up a huge stick, probably a yard and 1/2 to two yards long. I carried it proudly up both hills, I pranced as I walk with it in my mouth! Mom says I'm so beautiful when I walk like that. I continued to prance while I carried my stick. Then when we got to the front porch of our house, I thought I should take take my stick inside. Mom said no . I walked all the way up to the front door with the stick in my mouth. Ok, it would have been difficult to maneuver it through the door...but she should have let me try. I stood there and wagged my tail and stared at the door. She didn't give in. She did at least sit down on the porch and chew it for awhile. I just love a Good Stick!

I've heard my mom complain to her friends that I don't sleep or cuddle with them as much at night as I use to. So, last night I decided, what the heck, I'll try to make Mom happy.
When mom and dad had gone to sleep, I quietly crawled up between them and settled in for the night. (Mom didn't even notice).
Now, I'm a BIG Pup, (the doctor says I'm A VERY BIG Golden Girl) and they only have a Queen size bed.
Being big , means my legs are long and well, you can only keep your legs cramped up for so long. You know what I mean?
Consequently, I just HAD to stretch them out.
In my stretching, I kept bumping my legs and paws into mom's back. I thought maybe she'd get the hint. She rolled over onto her side, but my legs are pretty long and well, they were aching. I HAD to have some SPACE. So I pushed harder. Now you'd think if she wanted me to sleep with her, she'd move over a little when I stretched out, right?
No! She did NOT move. Not ONE inch! Finally, I gave up and turned over onto my back, my paws bent over my body.
Slowly, I relaxed, and I lovingly layed my head onto mom's pillow. As I was drifting off to sleep, I was awakened by my mom PUSHING on ME and saying, "Annie, Annie, stop breathing in my ear." "Move over!" She told ME to move over!!!! Really! What's that all about? Where's the love?
I tell ya. You try to do what your mom asks for, crawl up in bed and cuddle and love her a little... and she 's STILL not happy.
What's a Pup to do?
Your advice is welcome!

Last night, worn slap out from my walk, I simply crashed on the carpet and drifted off to dream land. (Now this part I heard mom tell someone on the phone, it is the only way I'd know because as I said, I was sound asleep, and to be honest, I don't remember. Let me explain! While I was sleeping, Mom noticed my legs were just moving like crazy and my face was wrinkling up some and then I softly barked twice. Slowly it all stopped, but with in just a few minutes, mom noticed my tail started moving. First, just at the tip, every so slightly. Then a little more, and finally a full wag, WHILE I WAS SLEEPING. Mom said she thought the only dreams we dogs had were bad dreams, but I opened her eyes to the fact that indeed we have sweet, happy dreams too. Shortly after, I woke up refreshed and ready to play again! Come on mom, lets go, here's Da Gorilla!!!!!
More later love, Annie

I sure wish I lived in Washington DC. How beautiful the city looks right now as it prepares for the Inauguration of a new president. There is such a level of excitement; we feel it all the way down here in Georgia. As we watch the transition from one president to another, we also see the transition of families and yes, even dogs.
Barney and Miss Beazley will be leaving Washington, heading back to their ranch in Texas, and with this new president and his family, there is soon to be a new First Dog joining them in the White House.
With all of these changes, I have so many questions. Will the new First Dog join Dogster? Will he or she want to be friends with me? Will common everyday dogs be invited to the White House for a sleep over? What will the new First Dog promote during his or her stay at the White House? That pup has such a platform to encourage change and improve the lives of dogs in this country and across the world. How Awesome is that?
The prospect of change is exciting and the energy level is high. We all have such great hopes and expectations for our country, our communities, and our families. We are united; our paws are joined together with the anticipation of change.

I've been such a Happy Girl tonight! I guess I'm growing into my fur and becoming content with my life. I am no longer afraid of my basket and tonight I took out all my toys and happily squeaked, wrestled, chased and chewed them. I climbed in my dad's lap and chased and loved the cats. I put a lot of energy into talking to my mom and gave my deep down throat howl which makes her laugh her deep laugh and then I wag my tail! Mom told me that Walker was coming to visit this weekend and at the mention of his name, my ears went up and my head turned. I recognized his name knowing that it means lots of wrestling, bite - face and fun activities! My live is good and I am a VERY Happy Girl!
What a special day it was when my new friend Amber from Florida and me (Annie from Georgia) got to have our own game on the football field. Amber and I had never had so much freedom. The football field which is surrounded by a track is completely fenced in. Our parents took us there and closed the gate and let us off our leashes. We ran, and ran and ran and chased our balls and played. Then Amber found WATER!!!! OH Yes, it was awesome. It was muddy water too! We jumped and dug at the water. Amber layed completely down in it. I just splashed around. I think my mom would have gotten upset. I had just been to the groomer three days before.
Anyway, I think it was really neat, since I'm a BIG Georgia football fan and Amber is a BIG Florida Gator fan that we had our first play date on a football field. We had a wonderful time. Mom has posted two videos that show us "Just Loving Life". It was a TOTALLY AWESOME
DAY!
P.S. After I got back home, I got a bath and smelled pretty again!

Today I made two new friends. First, I met my friend
Amber, from Florida. Amber road all the way from South Florida to the North Georgia Mts, just to meet me (ok, so her parents were going to a cabin just north of Ellijay), but still they stopped so we could meet. I don't know who had more fun, Amber and me or our parents.!
It was fun meeting a Dogster pal in person. We got to know each other and on Monday, we're going to have a play date! Mom found a place where we can go and run. I so wish they'd make a Dog Park here in Ellijay. We dogs need a safe place to play.
Then, later on in the day, my little nephew, Walker and I learned how to play together. You'll have to check out my video of us playing mouthy, mouthy and racing through the house. I was gentle with him and didn't hurt him at all. I also got to go to the park and walk. It has been a beautiful day in North Georgia. It was 65 degrees when Amber and I met up. I know it is winter, but it sure felt more like spring time in Ellijay. I hope it will get colder and snow while Amber is here. That would make the perfect get away for them and it would make my mom real happy cause she loves snow. Bye, bye for now. Annie

OMD! I did it, I did it, I DID IT!
I'm not a Scared-E-Cat anymore!
Today, I got my treat ball out of my toy basket! BIG Harry Deal, you might say, but I bet YOUR toy basket never attacked you!
Yep, last year, while trying to get a toy out, my name tag got stuck in the side of the basket. I lifted my head and the basket was attached to me, on my head!!! I started to growl and bark and shake the basket off my head. It would NOT get off of me. Mom had to rescue me from the basket attack. It was THE MOST TERRIFYING event of my life (all 1 and 1/2 years of it). Since that time, I WOULD NOT get my toys out of the basket. Mom had to get them out and put them in. No matter how much I wanted something, I would just go without or wait for mom to take pity on me and take out a toy or two.
Today however, was a NEW DAY!
Each morning after I eat my breakfast, mom fills my treat ball up with cereal (Cheerios), and I chase the ball around and work them out. If mom forgets to fix my ball, I go find it and bring it to her to fill! This morning, my treat ball was (You Guessed It!) in the toy basket.
I paced back and forth. I walked over to mom and then to the basket. I stood beside the basket and looked in it and over at mom. All she would do is say "Annie get your ball, bring it here”! I even walked up a few steps on the staircase and sat on the first landing, peering down at the basket with my treat ball in it. Surely mom would get the hint! Nope, all she would say was "Get your treat ball Annie, bring it here"! Finally, I went to the basket, looked at it, took a deep breath and stuck my head in and grabbed the treat ball! I was so proud of myself, I pranced and trotted over to mom and handed her the ball!!!! She was pretty excited too! We went into the kitchen and she filled the ball up with my cereal and I pranced off to enjoy my success! Yep, I experienced real success today! I conquered my FEAR of the basket!
Isn't there some saying like "Real Success is Conquering Your Fears"?
Well, I did! I'm not a Scared-E-Cat anymore!!!!
Love and licks from your Georgia Peach, Annie

My mom is one busy lady! This morning before leaving for church she had vacumned, started the dishwasher, and done one load of wash. Then, she decided she should also wash the sheets and the duvet cover from her bed. In a rush, mom left the duvet on the floor. (Do you see where this is going?) Rushing to get out of the house, she asked me, "Annie do you want to get in your crate?" I love my crate, but I didn't just jump up. So Mom said, "Alright you can stay out, but be a good girl!" Realizing how hard my mom works, I decided that this was my opportunity! I decided to check out this duvet, see if maybe I could help mom; put it back on the bed or something. In the process, I discovered this enormous tag on the duvet. It obviouly did NOT belong there. I wonder why she has not taken it off? Hmmmm, Mom takes all the tags off my toys. As I proceeded to investigate, I read the tag. It said, "DO NOT REMOVE THIS TAG UNDER PENALTY OF LAW" SO that's why Mom had not taken the tag off the duvet cover; she was afraid of going to jail. Well, I can help with that! So, YES I DID!!!! I helped my poor mom out! I tore the tag off the duvet. I did't even leave it on the floor. I put the tag up on the bed. I knew she'd be so proud of me. I waited with great anticipation! I just knew mom would say, "Thanks Annie, You are Mommy's BIG Helper!" However, that is not how it went at all. Mom didn't say anything at first. (What a disappointment!) Then while she and dad were putting the duvet into the duvet cover, they started fluffing it up...and fethers started flying around the room! "What in the world," mom said. She began checking out the duvet and found a tear. She looked more closely, and yes there was a tiny tooth size whole on the other side of the tear (clue number 1). Then she picked up the tag and looked at me! "ANNIE!" "I'm not happy with you!" OMD!!!! She wasn't happy at all. Mom said something about next time she would not leave me out of my crate! I wanted to just throw my paws up in the air and say, "I was just trying to help!" Good grief, mom couldn't take the tag off for penalty of law, so I helped and what kind of thanks do I get? It just doesn't pay to help around the house!

Have you ever received a present, and when you got it you knew instantly that it was the most special thing you'd ever received? It happened to me just like this:
A few weeks ago, we were getting new carpet. Mom was cleaning and moving things around. She moved the big Chester Drawers in her bedroom, and as she moved it, there on the floor, surrounded by dust was a VERY old Tennis Ball. I was sitting in the doorway when mom found it. Oh YES, the sight of THAT BALL caught MY attention too!
I watched mom pick the ball up and look at it as if it were a piece of Gold. She held it close to her face and she smelled it. Still watching from the door, I looked over at mom and back at the ball and then, unlike my puppy self, I slowly, reverently walked over to where mom was now sitting, and I stared at that Old Tennis Ball.
Gently, I twitched my nose and eased closer.
I sniffed around the ball's curved edges for a long time, and mom rotated it as if she knew I needed to smell it all over.
Oh yes, THIS ball had a long history. From its smell and discolored appearance, you could tell it spent a lot of time in the warm mouth of a faithful friend. Mom held it out to me, and normally, I'd grab the ball and run, but not this ball. I knew it was special. Mom smiled, and in a different sort of voice, she whispered, "Annie, this was Coach's favorite Ball. I wondered where it had gone".
Coach was the Golden Retriever who lived at our house before me.
Mom continued to gaze at the ball and then, lovingly she held the ball out for me and said, "Here Annie, Coach would want you to have it". And so very carefully, I took the discolored tennis ball and slowly walked to my chair. I settled into my favorite spot, and carefully laid the ball down in front of me. Tenderly, I rotated it with my nose becoming more and more acquainted with it. Picking it up again, I maneuvered it into the corner of my mouth, and began doing what I knew that ball wanted me to do. I began to chew it! I had never chewed on a ball before. I guess they were all too hard, but this ball was worn and softer and needed, longed to be chewed, and I did. That night, the ball and I became good friends; through a scent from the past, Coach and I were united at last.

Today was not just an ordinary day for this Golden Georiga Peach!
It started like with a car ride, oh how I love to go (that usually means there is a walk involved.!) Yep, I was right, but this walk was a walk through the woods! Do you know how many smells are found in the North Georgia Mountains? Trust me, more than there are numbers to label them! So, I was already in HEAVEN, when suddenly out of nowhere I heard the sound of rushing water. My ears elevated a little as I listened and I lifted my nose to smell. We continued walking another 1/2 mile or so and then....OMD, we cleared those woods and standing straight in front of me were the rocks and the water rushing over them. I was so excited. "Let me go, I shouted" even though it sounded like barking. Adam couldn't get his shoes off quick enough. Now some of those rocks are a little slippery. People, ok dogs too, have to be a little careful, because you will slip on the rocks. Instinctively, I knew how to curve my paws and use my claws to hold on to each rock. I stiffened my legs to help me keep my balance. We climbed up some rocks and then back down some others in order to get out into the shallow water over the top of one set of the Shoals. I did not hesitate to plunge into the shallow water. COLD!!!! but it felt SO good. As I touched the moss on the bottom of the water pool, it tickled my feet just a little, but that was security for me! I knew I had it made. I began pulling my leash and Adam. I was ready to slide down the first natural water flume! You can see the pictures of me on my page. Adam and I played for two hours while mom and Suzanne followed us around taking pictures. The highlight of the day was when Adam started throwing sticks into the water! I would leap into the air and into the water to retrieve them. ( Retrieving...Retriever, hmmm that's what I am, and I love retrieving sticks!) Adam would toss in a stick and I'd jump off those rocks and into the water to RETRIEVE them. However, I did not bring them to Adam, I'd swim out of my way to take them to MY MOM! She tells me how beautiful I am when I swim, who would you expect me to take them to? I'm no dummy. Finally, Adam got tired! I could have gone on forever! We climbed back up the rocks and to the top of the ridge. I looked back over the Shoals and smelled the fresh mountain air. The warm wind blew through my curley golden locks. It has been a Superfantabulous Day at the Shoals. I want to go back soon. Can we go next weekend mom?

Mom took me out for my EARLY morning (before light) walk. When we came back to the porch, BOB was proudly making unusual noises, not his normal annoying Merrrr....Owwwwwww! He was making some kind of rattling noise, sorta like a bird. Anyway, mom couldn't see, and as she got to the front door, and stopped to open it, I quickly scooped something up in my mouth. Mom didn't see me, I know she didn't! Yes!!!! But the lady is smart, and she knew by the way I was walking and holding my mouth, that I had something! Bob stayed on the front porch making his noise. Then mom promptly said those awful words, ANNIE, DROP IT! I hate it when she does that:(
Of course, I dropped it! Mom was NOT impressed when she saw it was a dead flying squirl. I had to go stay in the bedroom, while mom picked up the poor thing, still a little warm, but very dead. Then I heard her tell BOB, thank you BOB, for the wonderful flying squirl! =D>She praised that cat like there was no tomorrow. Then she threw the thing off the porch into the wooods! I can't figure it. If I'd brought home an creature, she would have had a fit, but if BOB does it, it is wonderful!!!! I'm thinking , BOB is the "Teacher's Pet" around here. I'm going to bed and poutt :(

I'm just one year old, but as long as I can remember there has always been a warm bodied four legged someone near by. I sort of remember my biological mother and then there was my little "Golden" sister. I can remember the two of us cuddling together and trotting after one another, but what I really remember is when I came to live at this house, at the age of seven weeks. When I came in the door, mommy stooped down low and holding me in her arms introduced me to my new sister,Lacey.
Lacey was older than my momma, but very wise. I was little and silly and wanted to cuddle with her like I did my biological mother. Lacey knew that cuddling with another furry pup was not what I needed. She knew my new mommy and I need to bond and cuddle, so she did not encourage me to snuggle up with her. Lacey was great about teaching me how to find my way around the house. She let me follow her and she even shared her toys with me. She would not eat until I finished eating; I know she was making sure I had enough food, since I was a growing girl. She taught me how to get up on the couch too, but don't tell my mommy. I noticed early on that Lacey didn't play the same way I did. She didn't run after me, or jump up or crouch down low like I did, but when I wanted to play, she would do her best to keep things going. She would stand and play mouthy, mouthy with me, and bark and turn her head. Since I was young, I could run enough for both of us, and I would circle the living room several times and then run back and bounce and jump some more. Lacey was so wise. She always knew when enough was enough! She knew when mommy and daddy were starting to get irritated at the barking and growling and would lay down or give me "the look" to stop so I wouldn't get in trouble. She was my protector and friend.
It was a little strange last night, I walked around the house looking for Lacey. I laid by daddy's feet thinking she might come in the living room and lie down near me, but she didn't. When the front door opened, I would look to see if it was Lacey, but it wasn't. Then, mommy sat down on the floor and told me Lacey would not be coming back home. Mommy said that Lacey was tired and sore and needed a soft cloud to rest on instead of the the carpet.
I always sleep in the bed with mommy daddy. Lacey couldn't because it was too hard for her to get up on the bed. So last night, in honor of Lacey, I refused to get in bed with mommy and daddy and instead, I slept on the exact spot beside the bed where Lacey always slept. Somehow laying in "Her Spot" made things right, and I dreamed about Lacey running and playing happily on the other side of the bridge.

I was Valentine-tagged by my cute friend Hoover.
Here are the rules:

In Valentine Day Tag, you write down your five Valentine Day wishes in a diary entry, and then choose five of your pup pals and have them write down five of their wishes, and then they choose five pup pals, and so on and so forth. You have to let your five pup pals know that they have been tagged by pup mail or by giving them a rosette. Have fun! I hope that whatever you for comes true!

1) I am praying that Tedibear will have a successful surgery.
2) I wish that I could personally meet my "special" dogster friends.
3) I wish every dog could have a loving furever home and be loved.
4) I wish I could go to Doggie Daycare like my friend Skooter!
5) I wish I could raise money to help other dogs and people have better lives.
6) I wish I could have a little more food in my dish instead of trying to be "Healthy".

I am sending this on to:

February 1, 2008
I have to say, that at first I thought the Power of the Paw was talking about the prayers that go out for those with paws. I have been one who has been blessed with the prayers and support of my dogster friends when I went through surgery! However, now I know the Power of the Paw is even more than that!
My first birthday! Wow, I'm One! One Year Old!
My birthday celebration actually began on Tuesday, Jan 29, 2008 when straight from Colorado I received my first birthday present from my BB, Shooter,(you can see it on my picture page). I wasn't sure what to do with it, but with some help (thanks mom and Lacey) we got it opened to find the coolest ball ever! It has a bunch of holes in it and a tennis ball inside. This I'm sure is to challenge my intellectual abilities and physical dexterity. Thanks Skooter, mom approves of any educational toys! Then came the cards. OMD! I would never have dreamed that I would get mail from places like California, Colorado, Nevada and Australia! Sweet cards, like "Today you are 1" or personalized ones with my picture on it! Then all the messages and Rosies, it makes mommy's eyes water to think I"m so loved. Thursday night, before I went to bed, mommy checked my paw mails only to find out there was a Surprise Pawtry for my birthday which actually had already started. Many of my friends had already been there and left messages. (You guys are so pawsome!)
On my actual birthday, my friends sent messages and stopped in at my pawtry. Then mommy took me to see Dr. Fran. I am in very good health.
I weigh 95.4 lbs. (after my birthday, mommy and I both are going to eat less and exercise more, we have a wedding coming up you know). Then Friday night, my birthday night, I went to my most amazing on-line pawtry given by my friends. We had a great time, we discussed everything from poop to politics!
On Saturday, the day after my actual birthday, my friend Gazda and his mommy came to my house for a play date and party. (We tried to get Lacey to join in, but she was upset that we had visitors. Lacey is older you know and is easily aggitated. So she went to bed. I hate she had to miss the fun.)The afternoon began with a walk to the pond, where my evening meal actually began.
I had a delicious appetizer of Goose Poop! Yummy! When mommy realized that was what I was doing, the walk ended and we went back to the house.
While we were out walking and enjoying our appetizer, (hehe) my daddy grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, and we also had tater tots! I had never had a hamburger or hot dog before! I can honestly say, I LOVE grilled hamburgers! Then we had my birthday cake!!!!
You can see a picture of it on my page! The cake had a crown and septer on it. Mommy put the crown on my head! I was the birthday Princess! The cake was a cupcake cake and I got to have my very own cupcake with a doggie bone on it. Gazda got one too. You can see the video of me and Gazda eating (ok I was gulping, Gazda was very mannerly), but my gulping got me two cupcakes!!!!!! (there are two cupcake vidoes). Then I got to open my presents from my family and from Gazda. I got a new Pink collar and leash with BLING on them! Mommy says I look so beautiful with them on. We are only going to use them for special occasions!
Then Gazda and I played some more. When mommy and I went to bed and we loved and kissed, mommy began to remember a conversation she had with Dr. Fran on my birthday....
Dr. Fran said I was one very special and lucky dog. She said I was loved more than many children. WOW! Mommy began to think there are so many children this year in her classes that do not have parents who love and care for them. There are children who don't have shoes that fit, or are wearing dirty and torn clothes. There are multiple children who have been taken away from their parents this school year and placed into foster care. There are several children who really do come to school hungry and school is the only place where they get warm food to eat. So you see, I am one very lucky pup and Dr. Fran is so right, I am loved more than many, many children. I am even more blessed because I have so many wonderful friends who make me feel so special!
Well, I've said all this to say, that I have realized at the age of ONE that it is the gatherings (some on line and some extended beyond that) of the Dogster friends and their families, that make our lives so enriched. It is the support we give and receive in the good times and sad times that provide us all with happiness and strenght.
I want to say Thank You to everyone for making my BIRTHDAY WEEK a memory of a life time for me and my family! Even my daddy was amazed and touched by the Power of the Paw! You all are Awesome and I love you, Annie

Oh yes, TODAY, I went to the groomer, and I am SURE I lots 1o lbs in hair! The groomer said, they could make another dog from what they combed off of me! I feel so much better and mommy says it makes me look younger. Mom's always know exactly what to say to make a girl feel good! (Ok, she also said trimming around my toes, made my feet look bigger too!) But, that's ok!!!
I feel like singing...I feel like Maria from West Side Story! (I changed dress to bandana to suit me!

I feel pretty,
Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and bright!
And I pity
Any girl who isn't me tonight.

I feel charming,
Oh, so charming
It's alarming how charming I feel!
And so pretty
That I hardly can believe I'm real.

See the pretty girl in that mirror there:
Who can that attractive girl be?
Such a pretty face,
Such a pretty (bandana),
Such a pretty smile,
Such a pretty me!

I had a great Christmas and New Year. I got so many wonderful cards, presents, rosies, and paw mails from my friends. Then Santa Paws came!!!! OMD, was I excited, he really did come. (I don't think Athens really killed him). Then on New Year's Eve, I got to go to my first New Year's party! I was a little scared at first and stayed on mommy's bed. Then a lady came in the bedroom with food and that did it for me, yep, I was in for the party!!!! I love food. I am taller than the dining room table so I walked around and around it, looking at the food! There were a lot of "NO ANNIE'S" but I didn't touch anything! Mommy was afraid I might rest my head on the table and people might freak out. I wouldn't do that. Oh well. Then I sat in front of people, where ever they were sitting and politely sat and stared at them. I used my Big, Brown, Puppy eyes and face and just stared and drooled! Yep, works every time...well almost anyway. I like New Years people and food. Then at 12:00 midnight they all cheered, must have been because it was my 11 month birthday!!!! Boy was I tried the next morning. My skin sister and her husband had to leave at 10:00 so they got up at 8:00. I wasn't ready to get up, but mommy did, so I did. Then I got a pretty lai and pink pig and a bone for my 11 month birthday! You can see me in my Lai in the picture! Can you believe I'm almost one!!!! Well, that's about it. I hope You All (that's Southern for everybody) are doing great and will keep in touch with me! Happy 2008 to my special friends. Lots of licks and love, Annie

I have been tagged by my cute furend Hoover. (I'm behind, but as Hoover says, they celebrate Thanksgiving for a month.) We should be thankful all year don't you think?
Because it’s Thanksgiving time, there is a change to the rules. Each player needs to tell seven special things they are thankful for. Tagged dogs must post the rules in their diary and their 7 things. Then choose 7 pups to tag and list their names. Let them know by paw mail or rosette that they have been tagged and to read your diary for the instructions on how to play.

1. I am thankful for my family
2. I am thankful for my home and sleeping in bed with mommy and daddy
3. I am thankful for yummy treats, toys that squeak, and chicken flavoredbones
4. I am thankful for all the kisses I receive each day
5. I am thankful for the long walks I take with my daddy
6. I am thankful I am loved as mommy says "more than life itselft"
7. I am thankful for all my dogsters pals

I am going to tag:

Yep, mommy did it to me! I never thought she'd do something like this...humliation, that's what it was... and the laugh, I've never heard her laugh that way...she laughed at ME...and I just sat there. I would not move, I would not do anything except sit there and look at mommy and listen to her laugh. Then, I layed down (see pictures). I just laid there while she snapped picture after picture of me and she KEPT laughing. That was it. I started moving my head and I got that thing off ! I decided right then and there I'd take care of this issue. I got that hat off and I was going to take it to my place. That's when I got that look in my eyes, like I do when I get things I'm not suppose to and try to take them off ... yep...and then mommy laughed some more. I"m a comedian, GREAT! Then mommy said, Trick or Treat Annie and snapped another picture (that's the one of me carrying the hat OFF to my place) Guess what I'd like to do with that hat? Teach her to laugh at me! I think I'm going to go pout! I'm not to sure about this costume thing! Maybe I should eat some more window sill! She didn't laugh when I did that!
I guess mom's have a way of getting even! Trick or Treat! I'll take the treat! I don't like the trick stuff! Mommy tell your teacher friend I said THANKS A LOT for the costume! NOT!

OMD!!! Do I ever LOVE the Dog Park!!!!! It was a beautiful, clear, blue, sunny, Georgia day!!!! Mommy and I drove an hour to meet my friends, Athens and Gazda at the Dog Park. At first mommy wasn't sure what to do. She said she felt like she was letting her child out on the first day of Kindergarten....whatever mom! I was a little like mommy, I wasn't sure what to do either, but don't tell her that! I looked around the park for a second and then Gazda's mommy called, "Annie, Annie," and I started to run. Then I lo walked around the park for awhile, smelled a few dogs, then I ran around some, mommy says I look so pretty when I run, even when I limp. Suddenly, I saw this beautiful butterfly. If flew right by my face and I started watching it and following it. I couldn't reach though. I wish I could fly! When you run, it's kinda like flying, right? It was a great day to go to the park. Even though it was 81 degrees outside, there was a cool breeze and it felt so good to be free and just visit with other dogs. We stayed about and hour and a half. Near the end, I was just laying in the grass near my friends. It was great! You can look at my Dogster Photobook! You will see Athens on the left, Gazda on the right and me up front. The pretty lady, that's Athen's and Gazda's mommy. Isn't she beautiful!!!! I had the best play date of my life. I got to meet lots of other dogs too! There were two other Dogster dogs there too! One dog's daddy said, "my it is a blonde day at the park," BOL....there were a bunch of us Golden's there! Thank you Kristine for giving my mommy directions to get to the park and for meeting us there. It was a PERFECT DAY!!! (That's from Legally Blonde!)

Then you pick 7 furs (kitties or doggies) say something interesting about who you are tagging and make sure you tell them... a simple p-mail will do fine, or a rosette to tell them, but you must let them know that they have been tagged. Post their names also in your DIARY.

1. I turned 8 month old on Oct 1

2. I love swiming in the river

3. I hate getting my ears cleaned or having drops put in them

5. I love sleeping in bed with mommy and daddy

6. I love to find the stick when it is thrown in the leaves

7. I love getting a bath in mommy's big bath tub, it is almost like swimming

I get so confused, mommy tells me I'm a big girl, then she tells daddy I'm a puppy. How am I suppose to know? Well, I'll tell you one thing for sure, yesterday, I played the puppy card and here's the reason why!
Yesterday, while mommy was sleeping off her migraine headache, I was bored. All she did was sleep and it was quiet in the house. Lacey was sleeping and well, I don't have any stuffed toys anymore, and I couldn't find the cats to chase so I had to find something to do. Anyway, while mommy was sleeping, I got the cord to daddy's battery pack that goes to his computer. I practiced my best chewing skills that I have. I did a great job! Mommy had no idea I was doing it. When my human sister came in from Sunday School, she walked in and and her eyes got real big, she asked mommy if she had seen what I'd done. Mommy said there are no more toys left (cause I'd taken all the stuffing out of all of the stuffed ones) so she had no idea. Mommy looked over the side of the bed and there was computer cord EVERYWHERE!!!! I got the whole bad girl Annie routine... mommy has probably said that about 2 times in my life. Anyway, they got it all cleaned up. When daddy came home, mommy played my puppy card with daddy. She asked him if he remembered the converstation the two of them had the other night about me being a puppy. Daddy said I wasn't a puppy and mommy said I was, just that I was a big puppy. Daddy forgets cause I"m so big. Daddy said he remembered and then mommy told him about the cord. Daddy said he saw the computer and the cord the other day and thought, "well, she hasn't bothered it yet, it is probably safe. " Boy was he wrong!!!! BOL!!! I did't get in trouble. Mommy said it was daddy's fault, cause he should realize I was a puppy. I've started chewing up stuff a lot. Got the baseboard in mommy's closet yesterday too. I have lots of bones and toys. Mommy says I"m still cutting teeth and that I'm frustrated cause I haven't gotten enough exercise since my shoulder surgery. Daddy said I will be taking longer walks! Mommy said I may have to start going back into the crate. I hope not. I like being free, I just have to control my teeth BOL! Thanks mom for playing the puppy card for me! Lots of licks, Annie

I forgot how good it feels to run, but boy am I out of shape. Just a couple of laps in the woods and I was panting! I found my stick right off the bat too. Dr. Fran told mommy she couldn't throw it for me, but I can get it myself and run. If you look at my picture, I'm smiling so big! Oh and I can go up and down the stairs now. You people living up stairs better keep your doors closed cause what ever is on the floor is open choosing for me! Life sure is getting better!
Today I had a very scary experience!!! I was playing with my toys, not bothering anyone or anything. I was searching through my toy basket trying to get out just the right toy, (or at least that is what mommy thinks) and suddenly the basket had me by the throat. I freaked out. I started flinging the basket and it wouldn't let go. I ran into the furniture, hit the wall, started slipping and sliding and then, I just attacked back, I started growling and fighting and I was still running though the house. Mommy didn't know what was happening. She ran after me yelling Annie, Annie, stop, I ran in her room and got between the bed and the bedside table. Mommy held me down and finally could see what had happened. My name tag had gotten caught between the slats on the plastic basket. She had to twist the tag to get the basket off of me. Then she just wrapped her arms around me and held me tight. She talked soft and told me it was ok. I was scared to death. In fact, it scared the Tee tee out of me and the poop too. (Don't tell anyone ok?) It took about 30 minutes for me to calm down. Mommy took me on two walks, and practiced some of my training commands (she was trying to get my mind off of the basket). Mommy has been tossing my favorite toys and bones back in the basket and making me get them out. I don't know if I like the basket anymore. I'll tell you what though....I gave it a run for its money. I sounded really mean and if the basket ever attacks me again.....I really hope it doesn't!!!
I would rather just be a sweet girl and play with my toys. It has been a very scary day! Annie

Surprised!!!! That is putting it mildly, my hair, who took me to the barber? I was with Dr. Lee Ann (love that name) and the next thing I know I'm waking up and my leg hurts, then what a shock it was when I looked down at my leg and shoulder....Ahhhhhhhhh! Mommy said every girl gets at list one bad hair cut in their lifetime and it does grow back...but how did this happen? I was going to have surgery, not a hair cut! I wished they warned me! Oh well, today, the day after my surgery, I am not feeling my best, but guess what? I got to have Cherioes today! Mommy wanted me to eat. She brought me dog food, nope, not interested. She cooked rice for me, blaak, not interested. Then she brought out a mini marshmellow, now we're talking....I love marshmellows! Once I took the marshmellow did she bring me another, NO. She was afraid the sweetness would make me sick. But the marshmellow gave mommy an idea. I get Cherioes in my treat ball. So mommy got them out and gave me a couple, I gobbled them down. Mommy is being stingy with the Cherioes, she only gives me a few at a time, but I've gotten them a bunch of times!!! YUMMY Now I'm sleeping and I have gone outside once. It smelled so good out there. I love it outside. I guess my new hair do isn't all that bad, Cherioes make even a bad hair cut good!

The morning began the same way it always does; I got up the same time as normal, but today, mommy didn't start fixing my breakfast. I kept looking at my dish and back at mommy, she isn't real smart...she didn't understand what I was telling her. Then she said, no breakfast Annie we're going to see the surgeon and you get car sick anyway, so no food this morning. She didn't fix Lacey any either, poor Lacey she shouldn't have to fast because I'm having surgery. We! left at 7 Am to go to Knoxville. That gave extra time for stopping on the side of the road if I was getting sick. Oh yea, 3 times we had to stop. I don't know what Dr. Fran was thinking when she gave mommy directions to Knoxville. She took us through the mountains, windy roads...barfffff!! Yea, not good. The river and mountains were beautiful or at least that's what mommy and daddy kept saying, I wouldn't know, I kept my head down and kept drooling and barfing.
Then Dr. Fran had that we should turn left and it should have been right. Daddy said when we did it that it seemed like we should have gone right. Mommy said, "Dr. Fran has driven to Knoxville a million times, she should know how to get there, it is where she went to school. So at 9Am when mommy and daddy started seeing signs that said,
Chatsworth and Atlanta, they knew something was wrong. They called Dr. Fran and she said..."I cant believe I did that!" GREAT! Finally we got on the interstate, straight highway, thank goodness and I went to sleep. Then we got to the Surgeons. Nice lady, pretty, here name is Lee Ann (we like those Ann names at our house). She checked me out real good and looked at my Xray and I yipped when she pulled on my leg. Next thing I knew I was leaving mommy and daddy and then I woke up! Oh my gosh, I only thought my leg hurt before. Now I'm sleeping and hurting, and getting doggie drugs. I don't want any more surgery, not ever!

It is two days before my surgery and surgery is sounding good to me. You know what all I got? I got a new squeaky Halloween black cat, a BIG new pillow bed, and a bath! I love baths. There was a slight problem, I've grown A LOT since my last bath and mommy could not get me in the tub. Mommy's tub is real big, it has steps up to it and jets in it. Last time about a month ago she had no trouble getting me in the tub. But this time, mommy had to wait till daddy came home to help her get me in. I got out on my own, with no thought to mommy's feet. Mommy gets in the tub with me so she can scrub me down real good. Now don't get any ideas, mommy's wearing shorts while she does this. When she gets down I get all excited and yepI scratched her poor feet up! I didn't mean too. Then I got blow dried. I love the blow dryer too. I just lay there on the floor and dog paddle while she blows me dry. Go figure why, I just do! BOL Then when she is doing my chest, I just hold my head up high and my ears blow back. Mommy keeps telling me how beautiful I am. MOMS!!!! Then today, one day before my surgery, I got to go out on the porch and get my sticks and get brushed. I got to chew and chew, and chew on those sticks. See this surgery thing sound good doesn't it? My human sister said I was getting a lot of pampering, then she snickered, but you always do Annie. I didn't like her tone! She's just jealous of me cause my hair is longer than hers. Mommy says she loves all her girls the same, they don't like that statement either....go figure! Well that's it...oh yea, I started something new too, I'm eating the ears off all my toys! mommy can't figure out why either. I just started it. The rat and the cat and the pig, have no more ears. They still squeek though. Oh wll, off to surgery tomorrow. I'm just gonna enjoy the moment. Lots of licks, Annie

Tuesday is the day we go to Knoxville to be evaluated by the surgeon. Mommy said she's pretty sure they will do surgery. Mommy was suppose to try to have me off my medicine for three days before I go. She tried and after 1 1/2 days off the medicine, I'm limping REAL bad, and when mommy comes home, I still go to the door, but I don't jump around like I useta do. Mommy could not stand it this afternoon when I was limping so bad. She says it hurts her too much to watch. So she gave me 1/2 of my medicine. The doctor's office said I didn't HAVE to be off, it would just be better if I could be. Mommy said she was not going to give it to me Monday or Tues at all. Of course I"m not suppose to eat or drink after 12 PM on Monday. (What's that all about?). So if everyone would please say a prayer, that all will go well and that I'll recover quickly. You might say one for mommy too, she's really worried about me. Daddy has already decided to take two days off, one to help mommy take me to the doctor in Knoxville and one to stay with me the day after surgery. He is just the best daddy in the world! Mommy says she has to go back to "Those kids", I don't like them! It was better before they came into the picture. Mommy was always home with me. Now she leaves early in the morning and doesn't get home to late in the afternoon. Does that mean I'm jealous? Oh well, please keep those paws up for me ok? Oh yea, it's surgery on my shoulder, I have OCD. Sounds yucky huh? Lots of licks, Annie

Since I was a "little" pup, I have been fascinated by any mirror I could find. It is fun looking at that dog. She is so pretty! Then the other day I realized, or at least mommy thinks I did, that the dog was me because it did everything I did. Well the other day, I was having one of my zoomie moments and was jumping up on the chair looking ,out the window ,and racing around the livingroom. Mommy happened to look over at the sofa I had just jumped off of and noticed the mirror right above it. Mommy said, "Annie, there are puppy nose marks all over my mirror!" "Did you get up on that sofa and look in that mirror to see how beautiful you are?" I don't have to look in that mirror to know I am beautiful! First of all, mommy tells me all the time how beautiful I am, then she sings the "Your Beautiful" song to me and she is always asking daddy if I'm beautiful. The lady is obssessed with it. Anyway, I don't want mommy to know and she hasn't caught me, but I do get up there to see if my hair is messed up or if I need to adjust my collar...BOL Hey, its a girl thing! Lots of licks (on the mirror) ha ha, Annie

Today was a beautiful, sunny, July, Sunday! Mommy figured we didn't have many more days for me to enjoy my pool, so out we went. Don't tell Dr. Fran cause I'm not suppose to be running around (go figure, I'm a golden).
Dr. Fran said no chasing after the stick in the back yard! So we didn't!!!! hehehe!!! Mommy got out my big Smiley Face ball and my Little Mermaid ball. They use to be too big for me, but as I've been telling you, I'm a BIG girl now! I got in the pool and chased after the balls, I really like the Little Mermaid ball. I can get it in my mouth now. I had a great time getting it out of the water. It didn't take me long to realize I could push it up to the side of the pool and get a good grip on it that way. Us Goldens are Sooooo smart. Don't tell Dr. Fran this part, then I got the ball, looked around to see if Dr. Fran was any where and then, jumped out of the pool and ran down the hill in the back yard. I was running around and then the ball fell out of my mouth and rolled down the hill into the woods. Mommy got worried and yelled for daddy...poor daddy, she does that to him all the time. The ball kept rolling down the hill, mommy was afraid it would roll into the street and even across the street into the creek...mommy had not told me about the creek until today, and I'm still not sure where it is...mommy said thank God!!! Anyway, I got the ball and came back, a little muddy, but very happy. I played some more in my pool because and then mommy put these funny glasses on me. I think she thought it made me look cool. It sure changed the way things look! My pool water got real dirty cause when I would jump out and go in the back yard, I got dirt on me which of course became mud, but me and the Little Mermaid ball had one great time! Remember don't tell Dr. Fran, you never know what tree she's hiding behind. I like her, but she has more rules then mommy! Mommy posted pictures to go with this entry. PS, Daddy came out but mommy I'd already come back up the hill. You're the best dad!!! Lots of Licks Annie

Mommy was a good girl today, she went to church and Lacey and I stayed home. I don't have a crate anymore, cause I'm a BIG girl, in more ways then one. But...today while mommy was gone, I went up stairs to Kayann's bathroom and got her bath rug. Mommy found it out of the bathroom yesterday and yep, she should have know what was coming, but I didn't tear it up yesterday, so she figured it would be ok...hehehe! Well, I got the rug and let's just say I ENJOYED it a lot. Kayann got home from church before mommy and daddy, but when mommy came in, Kayann said, "go look at what Annie did while we were gone", (tattle tale), Mommy looked, it was the rug. Lets just say, it can't be used in any way manner or form. It really is the first thing I've torn up, that wasn't mine. Anyway, Kayann said her boyfriend wanted to hear all about the beating!!!! What was he thinking? Of course that was a joke, they knew mommy wasn't going to hit me! Kayann thought I should have been scolded but mommy said it was too late. She thinks I wouldn't know what she was scolding me for...she right, or at least we're gonna pretend she is BOL!!! Kayann and Suzanne think mommy should get on to me like she did them when they were little. Maybe they weren't as cute as I AM! Don't tell them I said that! BOL Annie

First, mommy decided it was time to take down my crate. I've out grown it and a new one is just more money then she wants to spend. I'm kinda glad cause I am a Big Girl now and I like staying lose in the house. I'm not a baby any more, even though I'm only 5 1/2 months old, mommy says I'm still a baby, but I'm a Big Girl. Anyway, she was taking down my crate and it made a BIG BANG!!!! I got startled and JUMPED up on mommy's BIG bed. It is very high up and until today, mommy and daddy always gave me a boost up. I've tried to jump up there before, but I could not quit make it without assistance. It embarassed me when I didn't make it and I didn't want to try again. Mommy says I am very close if not right at 70 lbs. She says I'm heavy, what ever that is. Anyway, when I jumped up on the bed and made it, I was SO proud of myself, I just wiggled (haven't done that much lately either) all over, and jumped around. Mommy got excited too!!! We just had a big party and I jumped off and back on the bed. It was a great day for me as a Golden Puppy!

I have been a very busy girl (even with mommy being sick)! I've been going to puppy school and have mastered many good commands. "Leave IT" is what we are working on this week, here's why mommy can't wait for me to learn it! Bob our (yellow bobtailed cat) leaves presents for mommy! The other morning mommy was taking me out for my walk. She opened the door and I scarfed up something quickly. Mommy didn't have time to know what cause I'M FAST! I went into my lock down routine! Mommy finally got my mouth open and reached into my mouth (throat) to get Bob's surprise out! (You'd think she'd know better by now not to just reach in my mouth, I've had many wonderful tasty things in there.) Anyway, she got it and shreeked!!!! It was a MOUSE HEAD!!!! Slimey and complete with a pointed extension bone (which would have lead to the spinal cord). Mommy threw it ! I keep checking where it was every time we go out, but it isn't there. Hmmmmm !!!! Today, was a great day too! Mommy took me for my same morning walk and as we were going down the driveway, yep, I scarfed something up very quickly again. You know the story, lock down, open mouth, but mommy is getting smarter (must be puppy school helping her out), she did not reach in my mouth this time. She looked and screamed!!!!!! It was a WIGGLING FROG which jumped out. Mommy made me come inside until the frog was gone. She said something about it being like raising BOYS!!!! Mommy has only girls at our house (except for Bob and daddy). I guess I'm a Tom Boy. I hope she doesn't change my name! She said she can't wait until I learn "Leave It", but I think she is going to have to get faster or pay more attention to what I'm doing, cause as I said, I'm FAST!!!! Lots of licks and surprises!!!!!, Annie

Today must have been bring your Golden Retriever to the vet day. There were four there not counting me. It was pretty neat. I love looking in the mirror, so I know what I look like. I kept looking at the other Goldens. They looked a lot like me. Mommy said I had a perplexed look on my face. I kept staring at them. Then the big one, Duke, wanted to smell me. I wasn't sure about that; I ever so slightly tucked my tail and backed up to mommy, Duke kept coming. Mommy said," It's alright Annie he just wants to check you out". I wanted to tell her to lets start with her. Do you think she likes someone sticking their nose up her....never mind. I didn't like that Duke bothering me and I sat down real close to mommy. He was a big boy, come to think of it he was kinda cute. Oh well, I got called into the exam room and the technician and mommy put me up on the big table. That lady just grabbed my foot and started pushing on it, I whinned, so what does she do? She goes and gets this BIG man who comes in and starts using the lovey dovey voice, "Oh you're so cute Annie, such a good girl Annie..." you know the tone. When they start that it's never good. However, mommy had treats, she's so smart. So while this guy loved on me mommy gave me treats, and I while I ate a lot of treats, this lady was messing with my foot. I start to pull it away, but then mommy was showing me the treats and I was eating, next thing I knew, she was rolling me over on my side and looking at my tummy, mommy's still giving me treats, and then everything stopped. I was on the floor and I just shook, wow... NO STITCHES any more. Mommy said now that my stitches are out, I can practice retrieving the stick in the woods, I can play in my pool and get a bath, and Adam is going to take me to the Shoals. You can see pictures of the Shoals on my website. It is the most awesome place to play. There are rocks and waterfalls, and water to swim in. It's great. Well, gotta go. Mommy said we have to have a training session, so that
I won't flunk out of puppy school. Bye, love, Annie

After attending my second day of puppy school, I was afraid I might flunk out. So mommy shared what happened at school on Dogster. Calli's mommy asked if Georgia didn't have a "No Puppy Left Behind Act". My mommy just was not thinking. Indeed there is!!!! So mommy said she was going to "modify" my training. First, I get to have shorter work out periods. Then, if I need to, I can take a break. I do not have to do things as many times as the other dogs in the class. I get extra rewards and lots of encouragement. If I want to leave early I can. Bottom line it is the teacher's responsibility to meet my needs and to write a an extensive modification plan that will ensure my success. I don't have to worry, I can't fail or be left behind. Thank you Mr. President for creating such a program so that even a dog won't be left behind and Calli for pointing it out. My mommy should have known better. Now I can go back to chewing my Kong and doing whatever I want. I'm not worried anymore!

Mom...me...got...in...trou...ble.....ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,ha! Yep, my mom, the school teacher got in trouble at puppy school. It was great! Yep, she was suppose to be hand feeding me one meal a day. She did it once and decided that I was not going to growl or bite her EVER, so she didn't do it again. In circle time tonight, the teacher asked mommy how did it go for you? Mommy said, " well to be honest, I only did it once because ...." The teacher stopped the whole class and said, "let me just explain to all of you that dogs mature and when they do, they will be protective of their food or bones or toys, and they will growl or bite....then she went off on some disortation about knowing that some of them (humans) were mother ducks and that the puppy follows them around from room to room and they use cute eyes...this lady went on for forever. Amazingly, after my mom's answer, everyone else said their stuff went great, NO PROBLEMS!!!! Mommy said next week, it would not matter what happened, EVERYTHING with us will be great! Mommy was embarassed. My aunt went and watched, she said that I'm ADHD. All the other cute "little" doggies were sitting and being good, not me, I was belly crawling on the floor, sticking my head out the gate, trying to get everyone's treats. Mommy said I frustrate her. She said she's raised to great daughters and can manage hundreds of kids at one time at school, but she can't manage her Golden Retriever Puppy. Poor mommy. We were both worn out after school. I hope she doesn't get to upset and go back to her school early. I hope I won't flunk out of puppy school. I'm smarter than a 5th grader and Mommy teaches 6th grade, so surly she can help me pass. I'll try to be good mommy, love Annie

I went to school last night!!!! It was great, except for the ride down. I live about 40 minutes away from Pet Smart. So my mommy, thinking I would be more alert if I was not hungry fed me about an hour before we left. Just as she drove into the parking lot, I threw up my dinner, all of it on the floor of the back seat. Mommy said it was ok, she had towels and cleaned it all up and me too. I felt much better after that!!!! We went inside and I made lots of new friends. My best new friend is Maxi. She is a little black lab. She sat next to me and I shared my treats with her because she did not have any. I got bored about half way through the class, I wanted to look outside the classroom at the other things so I kept poking my head out and I saw a dog that looked a lot like me. He was pretty and I loved the treats I got for doing stuff I already knew like sit and my name. Mommy got a clicker and everytime she clicked it, no matter what I was doing, I got a treat. She'd say, "Annie" and I'd look at her and bingo a treat. The ride home was fine. Tomorrow is Surgery. Wonder what that is. Mommy keeps loving me and saying "poor Annie". I thought I was rich, I got lots of treats. Oh well, bye for now, Annie

Today, I got to go outside and play. I ran and ran and jumped in the big pile of leaves. They can't be burned right now cause we have a no burn warning in Georgia since we have a dangerous drought. Anyway, my dad threw sticks for me and held on to me until the stick landed and then let me go. I had to go retrieve the stick. Sometimes I could not see it and had to sniff it out with my nose, like Hendrix. I didn't do too good at first, but my dad encouraged me and helped me a little and I got better and better, I got real excited when I found it myself too. Also, my mom signed me up for puppy school. I'm a little nervous about that. What if the teacher is mean or somebody pulls my hair? What if Ihave to sit in a desk all day long, my mom says her students do. She's making me go to school cause I've been naughty, she says I'm a demon dog and my Darren called me a terror. So mom is taking me for help. Hope it is fun. Mom also got me a treat ball casue she thinks another problem with me is that i'm board and need mental stimulation. So this ball has treats inside (Cheerios) and i just play and work my little self to exhaustion to get those things out. Mom has been smiling more since I figured out how to use the new toy treat ball. It s great, I'm much happier and my family is much happier too! I'm so glad I could help out. Nite, nite, it's beddy by time. Love,Annie

Today my mom and dad took me outside to my pool. They took off my leash and let me run in the yard too. I didn't realize at first that I could go very far, but when I caught on...I was off. I leaped into the grass and jumped into the leaves in my back yard and then I found the biggest sticks ever! I love sticks. I'd rather have a stick then an expensive toy. (I think that's cause I played with them a lot when I was a baby and just lived with my biological mom and sister. ) Then, I started digging in the humas. I practice digging in my chair , okay(mom's chair), but I can dig really good outside. I had dirt flying EVERYWHERE. Now picture this, I had been in my pool, I was wet and I got in the leaves and then stated digging....oh did I look good! Yep, had to have a bath after that. But I love baths too! It was a great day, pool, running, sticks, digging and a bath. I pooped now. Gotta go, love Annie

Today my mom read Bailey's diary. She decided I needed one too. It is June 6, 2007 and I am 4 months and one week old. I am growing so fast. I love to play with my Lacey. Lacey is my older dog and so she just stands there and play growls at me. I love to run around the dining room table or the coffee table and come back and jump at my Lacey. She growls again and off I go. Sometimes I jump on the couch (that's a NO) and then leap to my mom's chair (another no, but I've taken over it anyway), then one leap off the chair and I'm back at Lacey. ..the adventure continues until I need a drink. I sometimes bite at my Lacey's tail, she doesn't like that and mean barks at me. I back off for a second, wag my tail and I'm right back at it.
Yesterday, I got a new pool. I wasn't sure what I was suppose to do with it. You can see in my pictures, I just stood there. My mom accidently let go of my leash and I was off. I ran around the yard and splashed into my pool. I had a great time and my mom is about to let me go back and play again. I'm off to play! Bye
