All is right with the world! :D~ Well, last Tuesday, the 18th (which also happened to be our angel sisfur, Daisy's, barkday!), when Mom got home, she ran in and called us to go out and potty, not even taking one minute to say hello or give us our lovin's! :O She was all business. No kisses or belly rubs. No smiles or words of praise. And....... where was Dad? *scratches heads* He didn't come in the house, like usual, carrying firewood to put in the wood stove, grumbling at us Tots to get out from under his feet. We could tell that all was not right with the world that day. :/ As soon as we'd finished our business outside, Mom scooted us back inside and dumped kibble into our bowls. Then she ran out the door, got into the car and left! :O When Mom got back home, well after midnight and still without Dad, we finally got our lovin's! We got hugs and belly rubs, but Mom wasn't happy. She wasn't smiling. Mom told us that Dad got broken, when he fainted and fell from way up high, while he was cutting branches from a tree with his chain saw. Mom was scared because after Dad fell, he wouldn't wake up - no matter what she did. The ambulance came and took Dad to the hospital so the doctor could fix Dad's ouchies. The doctor tested Dad's blood and took pictures of his neck, back and other bones. He checked Dad's heart and brain with tests called MRI, CT scan, EEG, EKG, and lots of other tests that Mom can't remember the names of, to try to find out why Dad fainted and crashed to the ground. The doctor still doesn't know why Dad fainted and fell, but he's doing better and will be able to come home from the hospital tonight! YIPEE! On Friday night, Mom loaded us girls up in the car and we all went to stay with Travis, Kaiti and Link, in their apartment, for a few days! Us girls are really happy to get to hang out with Link! We miss him lots since he moved away to the apartment, and it's helped Mom to be with Travis and Kaiti because she's been real worried about Dad. Travis and Kaiti have internet, too, so we're able to borrow it and woof this Diary entry and check on our pals who we are missing something fierce! We're all so happy and relieved that Dad is okay now, and will be back home with us. We may never know exactly what happened to make Dad faint, and Mom will always worry about that, but we're just thankful that he's okay and wasn't hurt worse than he was. Mom says she knows a sure-fire way to remind one's self of how much one really does love and care about another. That is to come within a hair's breadth of losing that person forever. Ernie George, earned his "Lifetime Achievement Award" and made his Journey to the Rainbow Bridge on September 6th. Our hearts are heavy and we share the tears of his family. Ernie has been a fun-loving furiend to many on Dogster since July 2008. His happy, carefree, unique and colorful pawsonality has endeared him to any and all who have had the pawleasure to make his acquaintance. 'EG' colors the Dogster Community happy with his kind and loving woof. Ernie filled a place in one's heart that could never be filled by another, and he will most certainly remain anchored in those hearts, and remembered with a special fondness, furever. Though, for the past few weeks we've not been real active on Dogster, we have been here, and we just cannot understand how we somehow had not learned, for 2 & 1/2 weeks, that everybody's furiend, Ernie George, had made his Journey to the Rainbow Bridge. With wet eyes, sniffly noses and very red faces, we admit that, having been wrapped up in our own sorrow after being dealt a tragedy within our own family, we have failed to keep a watchful eye on many of our furiends, who we dearly love and care about. As a consequence, our hearts ache with regret, sorrow and shame that, for two and half weeks, we have not expressed our sympathy and support to a loving furiend and his family when they need it more than ever. We wish we would have been less self-absorbed, and checked our corral of furiends activity on the days we have logged on. To think less about our own feelings and more about the furiends who care about us. If we had, we would have known two weeks ago that Ernie had made his Journey, and we would have been here for him with our love and Taterhugs, and given his wonderful, loving momma the support she deserved and needed from friends. Mom got us more zealies last night so we finally went to Ernie's page to congratulate him on being DOTW. That is when we discovered that he is an angel now - when we saw his page, his picture with wings, and all of the special gift angel wings, angel and rainbow furever stars, and paw charm and heart rosettes that have been gifted to him by so many of the furiends who love and care about him. Our tears are running freely. Not only for Ernie George's family, as we know they are missing him painfully, but for the fact that we were too wrapped up in our own family's sorrow to have noticed that of our furiend's. We're here now, offering our love and support, letting Ernie know how loved he is and that we care and that he will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. Being here now feels right in our hearts, but we have learned a hard lesson. We can't go back to September 6th and fix it. We can't say to Ernie, "Wait, let's do that over! We want to be thinking of you and your momma, not only of our own pain and sorrow!" And any other times that we have been so concerned with our own troubles - or happiness - or worries, etc... that we have overlooked a friend's, cannot be done over again, either..... A friend waiting to hear her friend say "Happy birthday!"..... A lonely friend waiting to hear her friend say "Hey! Just wanted to stop by and see how you're doing!" ..... A worried friend waiting to hear a friend say "Try not to worry, it'll be okay. And if it isn't, I'm here for you."...... A sweetheart waiting for her sweetheart to say "I'm so happy to see you! I've been thinking about you all day! I LOVE YOU!".... The list could go on and on and on.... All we can do now is look ahead and remember what makes our hearts feel right. We wonder if Ernie George knows what his Journey to The Bridge has led us to realize and really think about. Does he know, that because of him and his Journey to The Bridge, and because of what a kind, loving pup he's been, that The Tater Tots just became much more sensitive, thoughtful and selfless to the furiends? The ones that care about them? The furiends they love and cherish but maybe, so thoughtlessly, haven't shown by their actions how much they love and cherish them? Does Ernie know what a pawrecious gift he's given us - as well as the gift of his furiendship? We think he does know, because he's, obviously, already doing his job as an angel! For sure watching over us right now! And he's smiling! Ernie is just as pawsome an angel in Heaven as he was a furiend on Earth! We want to thank Ernie George for being such a great furiend and a loving pup and for helping us learn to be better furiends to the ones we love. THANK YOU, ERNIE GEORGE! ;) We have some new rules that we will strive to live by..... Each day that we log on to Dogster, we first will check our pawmails, answer them, and thank furiends for any kind woofs or gifts we've received. Then we will check our corral and keep an eye on the furiends we love, so when support is needed, we will be here to give it. If hugs are needed and tears need drying, we will be here to lend a shoulder or a paw. If there is an important, happy, exciting event, we will be here to share in the joy and give High-Paws. We will be here for our furiends throughout the sunny days and throughout the storms, as they have been here for us for the past 4 years. We will be here to help make the memories - happy, sad, fun or serious - that make Dogster the wonderful, special, loving community that it is. On Thursday morning, I received a phone call from my ... Our momma would like to share some words.... On Thursday morning, I received a phone call from my only sibling. My brother called to inform me that his only child, his daughter, Jennifer, my only and beloved niece, is no longer with us on this Earth. My beautiful, intelligent, loving, precious niece, Jennifer Lynn, had her life brutally taken, while she was in the supposed safety of her own home. She was beaten and stabbed repeatedly by a person, or persons, who is/are still out there, somewhere, enjoying the freedom to come and go as they please. We pray to God that whoever is responsible for such a horrendous crime will be caught and punished to the full extent of the law. I am completely devastated, and at a total loss for words. I can't comprehend how a person could do such a thing. Jennifer grew up close to our family. My sons were her best friends and playmates - practically brothers and sister to one another. Jennifer was my precious "Angel Face". She was so happy and fun-loving and full of life. She was very talented artistically and very intelligent and always sensitive and caring to others. I cherish the memories of the beautiful girl that I loved more than any girl in the world. I remember watching her laugh and gaze in wonder at the animals at the Portland Zoo. I remember her laughing and playing in the Willamette River, splashing water at my sons, her cousins. I remember the times she shared ice cream cones with the boys on our front porch on hot summer days here in Eugene. I remember the time that she and Austin stole a pack of Lifesavers from the Fred Meyer store, when they were eight years old, and Jenny's mom, Lori, and I made them return the candy to the cashier at the store and apologize and promise never to steal again. I remember the hikes up Skinner's Butte and to The Arboretum. I remember the hugs and kisses and how Jenny loved it when I called her "My Angel Face". I remember the countless memories, too numerous to list. And I remember the special love that Jenny and I shared - the little girl who was the daughter that I never had, and who grew into a beautiful, lovely 28 year old woman, who was robbed of the chance to live a full life and know the happiness of someday falling in love with her soul mate and having children of her own. I will never understand why her life was so suddenly and brutally taken from her. From me. From us. It is said that God has a reason for everything, but it is just so incredibly difficult for me to understand what that reason could be. I try to take comfort in the fact that my sweet Angel Face is in His loving care, held in the arms of the angels, safe in Heaven and watching over those of us who love her so dearly. But it is extremely difficult and my heart is aching with every breath I take. In three hours, my family and I will begin the five hour drive to the Seattle area, to pay our final respects and say our goodbyes to the beautiful young woman who enriched our lives and will forever own a very special place in our hearts. Please pray for my beloved niece and ask God to give her parents, and all of us who loved Jennifer, the strength we need to understand and cope with this devastating loss and to go on with life while her memory lives on in our hearts. For the past couple of weeks, we've had beautiful, sunny days - temps in the 8o's and even some 90's! Daddy filled up our "kitty" pool and Teddi Sue had been biting splashes to her little heart's content! Today we're going to clean up the canoe that our pal, Flicka, sent to us and put it in storage for safe-keeping. After all, this is Western Oregon and we know that when October arrives, we'll be puttin' that canoe back to good use! There are some good points to getting alot of rain. We are blessed to live in a place where there are lush, green forests and the grass is always cool and soft under our paws. But Gee Willakers! A pup's gotta be able to enjoy a little warm weather and bask in the sunshine, too! We're gonna try to talk Mom and Dad into packing up the picnic basket and beachball and taking us out to the coast one of these weekends in the very near future. Sounds like a blast, huh?! Mommy has been very sad and worried about Sassy's mommy. Sally has been very, very sick and she needs a new liver to save her life. She has had alot of pain and sickness and complications. She has been in and out of the hospital alot over the past couple of months. Sally has been sad because she misses Sassy when she's in the hospital. Right now she's at home with Sassy and Sassy's daddy and she is in very good spirits. Tomorrow she goes to the doctor to have the staples removed from her last surgery, but for tonight she's happy and was snuggling Sassy and telling Mommy stories that made Mommy ROTFLHBO! Mommy hasn't called Sally, even though she's been really worried, because she's been afraid to disturb her while she might be resting, so she was sooo happy when her phone rang and she saw that it was "Sassy's Mommy" calling! Sally is one of Mommy's very dearest friends in all the world, and we know that there are several other Dogster Moms and Dads who feel the same way. Sally is one of the most caring, giving, loving people Mommy has ever known. Sassy's family has been through an incredible amount of pain and suffering and health issues over the past year or more. Sassy's daddy has been battling cancer and had 1/2 of a lung removed. He's been going through treatment and Sally has been standing by him, being strong for him. Now Sally is sick and Jimmie and she are being strong for each other. They have a wonderful daughter, Brandi, who has been there for them 100%. She helps take care of them and Sassy. She has started a Facebook group Rally For Sally, in support of her mom so all you Facebook fans out there can join and give your support. A few Dogster pals have started a Dogster Group, Stomp Paws For Sally. You can click on a link at the top of the group's main page asking for an invitation to join the group and show your support there, also. There is a thread in Plus Power of the Paw, Sally - Sassy's Mommy where Plus Members can go and post to show support and find a link to Light A Candle for Sally. The candles burn for 48 hours so we recommend re-lighting your candles every day or two. Sally mentioned to Mommy how grateful she is for all the love and support she has been receiving from her family and friends and that it has really helped to keep her going and keep her spirits high. Sally and Sassy have been Dogster members for over 4 years and have always been here for every pup and their people who ever needed support in any way. Now Sassy's family needs support and Power of the Paw and it's time for everywoof to bark out loud and stomp our paws and show Sassy and her family the love we have in our hearts for them! The nice girl at the vet's office gave me more fluids and showed Momma how so she can do it for me at home. I got my test results today and I am very Hyp ... very Hyperthyroidic. I also have a bit of kidney disease, but Dr. Johnson told Momma that it isn't real bad and it is something she wants to "keep an eye on". She said it is not uncommon for "olde furts" like me. Now, the part momma is really upset about is that my vet's office is now closed until Monday and Dr. Johnson apparently forgot to phone in my prescription! She FORGOT! HOW could my vet have forgotten to phone in my medicine??!!! She just got done telling Momma how very HyperT I am! The normal range is 0.8 - 4.0 and I came in at 6.2 . Momma did get me the k/d food that Dr. J recommended, so at least I can get started on that, but I was sooo looking forward to starting to feel better soon. Momma got the phone book out and found one Nancy Johnson and she called it and left a message on the answering machine. Hopefully it's the right Nancy Johnson and she will phone in my prescription. If it hasn't been done by tomorrow morning, Momma is going to call the Emergency Veterinary Hospital that is open 24/7 and ask them if they can help us out. Momma is livid! I keep telling her to calm down. It's only a couple more days, but I can tell she really hates to see me have to feel crummy for longer because of some dumb human mistake. At least now we know for sure what is wrong with me and now we can start working on getting me all fixed up. . . . . . . . as soon as I get my medicine! Momma was reading, right on Catster in "Cats 101", about Hyper ... Rosie went to see Dr. Johnson today. Momma was reading, right on Catster in "Cats 101", about Hyperthyroidism and she realized that Rosie has all the symptoms. Here's what she read ; Hyperthyroidism Feline hyperthyroidism is the most common feline endocrine disorder. It occurs when the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone, usually in senior cats. Symptoms include increased appetite, unexplained weight loss, increased thirst and urine output, vomiting, lethargy, weakness, and a dull coat. It's important to see the vet if these symptoms are present because the condition places excessive stress on the heart and other organs when left untreated. There are three treatments to which most cats respond very well: medication with Methimazole, surgery, and radioiodine treatment. Of the three, radioiodine treatment is the most effective. It's non-invasive and returns more than 95% of treated cats to normal thyroid function with no further treatment or medication required. Dr. Johnson agrees that Rosie probably does have HyperT, and she is testing Rosie for it. The results should be in by tomorrow or Friday. Hopefully we'll get some answers and our Rosie will be on her way to feeling good again! We'll update when we get her test results. Since there are 5 of us Tots, this time we will each list one thing that we love about our life. (Last time we played, we listed 5 things that we all love about our life.) So, here we go! 1. Penny Ann: I love my "toof pick"! It's a Nylabone with a nubby,blue, rubber sleeve around the middle of it. As soon as I finish eating, I go straight to my Toof Pick and chew on it to clean out any kibble that is stuck in my cheeks. For years, I would go to Momma and she would rub my cheeks to clean them out for me, but then she bought the Toof Pick and now I can clean my cheeks all by myself! :D~ 2. Zelda Marie: I love to show my squeaky, dumbbell toys to Rosie! I have one that looks like a basketball and one that looks like a soccer ball. I have had them for almost 2 and 1/2 years and I am careful never to break them. I pick one up and wiggle my butt over to wherever Rosie is and I give her a close-up view of my beloved toy! Sometimes it is such a close-up view that I accidentally bonk Rosie in the face over and over and over! I can tell Rosie thinks my toy is just the bestest. She doesn't even run away or slap me! She always stays right there and sometimes she even closes her eyes. She must be hoping real hard that Momma will get HER a squeaky dumbbell toy someday! :D~ 3. Link: I love getting into Gramma's stuff! I paw through her purse and her work bag and take out all her stuff and play with it. If Gramma leaves a pair of her jeans or her jacket out on the couch or the bed where I can reach, I take all the stuff out of her pockets. I never empty Mom's or dad's or Grampa's pockets... only Gramma's! I LOOOVE my Gramma's stuff! :D~ 4. Teddi Sue: I love swimming! I could "swim" fur hours! Doesn't matter if it's a lake, a river, my kitty pool, a big puddle or the bath tub. I just love to splash with my paw and bite the water! I go 'round and 'round and 'round.... I have a video of me swimming in my kitty pool. You're welcome to watch it and see how much I love to swim! :D~ 5. Rosie: I love tuna! I do not like it when there are large chunks in my tuna. I won't eat the large chunks, so Momma carefully mashes it up really well with a fork before she gives it to me. Well, right then Momma knew she didn't wanna hear what Bud was going to tell her. (Sarah furgot our number, but she remembered our neighbor's??!) Sure enough, Bud brought us the news that Austin had wrecked his motorcycle, riding it home from the repair shop, going 50 MPH on Highway 99. O M D!!! Mom's legs turned to jello but she kept her cool pretty well. Bud didn't know many details, but he told Mom that the paramedics were checking Austin over and Sarah was going to send the ambulance away and drive him to the ER herself, in order to avoid a huge ambulance bill. It made Mom feel a teensy bit better to know that the paramedics didn't grab Austin up and scoot away with him lickety-split. At this point, Mom was already thinking about what method she would use to beat the tar outta the bike mechanic who had just "repaired" the bike. The same mechanic had been working on Austin's motorcycle for several months to get it all safe and ready for Austin to ride. About 5 weeks ago, Austin went and picked the bike up from the shop and attempted to ride it home. Well, he made it almost home when he went to make a left turn and the brakes locked up. Austin and the bike went down on the pavement. Austin was scraped up pretty good, but didn't need to go to the hospital. Some antiseptic and bandages and some Advil and he was good to go. Mom was furious with the mechanic, wondering how he could have had the bike for so many months and then the brakes lock up and cause Austin to wreck after being ridden for less than 3 miles. Austin wasn't upset with the mechanic. That's just the way Austin is. He always gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. He told Mom that the guy couldn't have known the brakes were going to lock up, it was just something that happened. Mom's thinking "Uh, yeah. Okay, Austin." But really she still blamed the stupid mechanic. Anyway, Austin took the motorcycle back to the same mechanic again to have him fix the brakes. Today is when Austin got it back. So you can see why our peace-loving Mom might just wanna throttle the You-Know-What outta that "mechanic"! bol After the doctors examined and ex-rayed Austin, it was determined that he has a broken left index finger, a sprained wrist, 9 stitches in his left arm, lots of bruises, cuts, road rash and pain. The bike is wrecked up pretty good. Mom says "YAY!" fur that. Any momma who is okay with her baby (no matter what his age) climbing on a motorcycle, has got to be lacking in maternal instincts. Oh, and Austin's new IPod is now toast. That didn't phase Mom a whole lot, but it sure seems to be a major bummer to Austin. Now, this story gets even better! A few minutes after Mom's first call to Sarah, her cell phone rang again. It was Aunt Maggie. She had just put Uncle Doug in an ambulance because he "felt really strange" and his heart was racing. *YIKES* The doctor gave Uncle Doug medicine to slow his heart and it worked. He's okay. Now just waiting for test results to find out why his heart rate was 197 instead of 70 like it should have been. *YIKES again* So, it turned out to be anything but a regular, typical, run-of-the-mill, lazy-day Sunday for us! When Mom catches herself thinking what a horrible day it was, she reminds herself how much worse it could have been. Austin is hurting and bummed about his IPod, but the car that was driving directly behind him, at 50 MPH, didn't hit him, and he will be just fine.... in a couple of weeks or so. And he told Mom that it will be a long time - if ever - before he climbs back on a motorcycle. *high paw ;) * And Uncle Doug is doing well. His medicine worked and he is on the track to finding out the cause for, and treatment for, whatever is wrong with his heart. This is the happy tail of Tess, a 1 ... Tess, a 14 year old American Dingo who lives in our fair city, Eugene, Oregon. It was Sunday afternoon and Momma was gathering our leashes and collars to get us ready for our walk. Penny Ann took a peek out into our back yard through the big glass door in our dining room. She started barking so, of course, the rest of us came running to see and join in the barking. We have a very important job keeping our home and family safe from intruders and, by golly, we do a mighty fine job! bol With the four of us barking our little heads off, Momma came to see what all the excitement was about. She expected that, as usual, she would see either one of the many neighborhood cats roaming around or a squirrel sitting on the fence or the deck teasing us. Well, what a surprise she got! It wasn't a cat or a squirrel at all, but an older looking, golden colored dog! Daddy went out to investigate and the stray dog took off running out of our driveway and into the street, across the park and onto another street. Momma ran outside with the car keys and yelled to Daddy, "Come on! She's old and she's limping! She's headed for River Road!" River Road is a great, big 40 mph (but most do 50), 5 lane, busy road. It is definitely not where a doggie should be out running off leash. So Mom and Dad drove and caught up with the dog. Mom jumped out of the car, dog biscuits in hand, and tried to coax the dog to let her get close enough to give her a cookie. No way! That ol' girl wanted nothing to do with letting a stranger get near her and she took off running again, with Momma huffing and puffing along behind her. Finally the dog crawled under a motor home in someone's yard and she collapsed from exhaustion. When Momma started to crawl under and reach her hand out, the dog growled, so Momma decided not to push it with her. A neighbor lady brought out a big bowl of cold water and a little dish of cooked chicken breast pieces and placed them under the edge of the motor home. The dog wouldn't budge to go over and get a drink or eat. She was very, very tired and very, very scared. So, after a few minutes, Momma tossed a piece of the chicken over near the dog. And what a perfect aim Momma has! The chicken landed right under the dog's nose and she gobbled it up like there was no tomorrow. So, Momma threw a bunch more pieces and the old girl ate 'em all right up. She was hungry! So, now there's the dog under the motor home in a yard of someone who wasn't home, Momma and Daddy and some other neighbors- a lady named Amy and her husband. The dog had no collar on and the people were thinking that maybe someone had dumped her off in our neighborhood. That was a sad thought. So now it was time for the people to decide what to do. The ol' girl would have to have someplace safe and warm to stay while the people tried to find out if there was a family looking for her. When the lady who owned the motor home got home it was decided that she would let the dog stay at her house until this coming Friday at the longest. If nobody had claimed the dog by then, she would have to go..... somewhere. None of the people could bear the thought of taking the old girl to Animal Regulation Authority (The Pound ) so everyone was ready to do whatever they could to find the owner or to find a good home for the dog. Today when Momma got home from work and checked Craigslist again, she saw a very familiar face! Yup! There was an ad saying that "Josh" was looking for "Tess" who had wandered out of their yard on Saturday. The ad said that Tess was a beloved family pet and that she was greatly missed. Well, Momma just about jumped for joy! She was about 98% sure that the dog in the picture was the old, stray girl who was under the motor home! So, Momma called Josh and he came right away to see if it was indeed his Tess. And it was! And she was one happy, little girl when Josh drove up in his pickup truck! Josh was happy and Momma was happy. Amy wasn't home and neither was Motor Home Lady, so Momma wrote notes and left them on their doors letting them know that "Tess" was safe and happy back home with her daddy, and thanking them for helping to look after Tess and not being too quick to take her to The Pound. The amazing part of this whole story is how far Tess was from her home. She was clear across town. Not only was it a long way, but she had to have crossed several very, very busy, multi-lane roads and even a bridge. She was out running for over 24 hours before she ended up under the motor home. She is deaf, also, and somehow managed to avoid getting hit by a car. That was quite the adventure for any dog, let alone a 14 year-old, deaf, limping dog who was very scared. So, we missed our walk this past Sunday, but we'd give up our walk every day if we could trade it for helping a lost or hurt furiend. Tonight we all sleep happily and soundly in our own home, with our own people, in our own beds! And so does Tess! :D Tonight we'll remember, as we do each night, to include all the lost and homeless furs in our prayers. And just a tiny bit of each, but boy, do we love it! BOL What is your favorite toy? Penny Ann: I'm not much into toys, but I do love my "toof pick". It's a NylaBone chewy that looks like a bone on each end, but has a blue, rubber, nubby thing around the center. I chew on it to clean the food out of my cheeks after I eat. :) Once in a blue moon, I grab a stuffie and shake it and throw it around a bit. Zelda Marie: I have two that are almost identical. They are plastic, squeaky, bar bell-shaped. One looks like a basketball and the other looks like a soccer ball. Actually, Momma says I look like the soccer one! bol Link: I absowoofly LOVE anything that squeaks! My very favoritest is the monkey that Gramma got fur me. Teddi Sue: I don't play with toys much. Sometimes I grab a squeaky and squeak it and then Momma tells me what a good girl I am and how smart I am. :) Rosie: I don't play much anymore. Sometimes I'll bat a pen around the kitchen floor, or hide in paper bag. I used to wrestle with Zelda Marie. There's nothing quite as satisfying as body-slamming a Chihuahua! Teddy has made his journey to Rainbow Bridge. Our hearts are broken at this very unexpected and sudden news. Teddy went into surgery a couple of days ago to have a hip replacement. The surgery went pawsomely and the dogtor phoned Bob to tell him that Teddy wanted his daddy so come and get him, bring him home where he'll be happy with Daddy Bob and Daddy Jacob and sisfur Pita ~ CGC Award. Bob was happily just about to go pick up Teddy and bring him home when the dogtor called to tell him that Teddy had passed away from a heart attack. We feel the pain and share the tears of our friends. We hope that Bob and Jake will take solace, as we do, in knowing that Teddy's last months were filled with the happiness and love that he longed for. We know there are lots ... ( INDYMAC BANK. Not that we would ever say anything bad about INDYMAC BANK! *looks innocent* ) ............to convince them not to throw us out of our home even though they know we have a plan, but Mom and Dad have finally convinced them that we aren't just trying to string them along to see how long we can stay here before we get the boot. Mom and Dad have had their landscape maintenance business for about 20 and 1/2 years. They have had this one customer fur the past 5 years or so. This customer is also a very good friend of our family. He has offered to buy our house from Indymac, for the amount that Mom and Dad still owed on it. If the bank will let him do that, he will rent our house to us for a year or two and then sell it back to us fur what he paid fur it. What a plan, eh?!!! Our family is sooo grateful to our friend fur offering to do that fur us!!! Without his offer, Mom and Dad would lose all they have ever worked for FUREVER! Our friend is trying to make it pawssible fur our pawents to, in essence, keep our house. We'd just be renting it fur a couple years, which seems really strange to our pawents, but eventually we'd own it again. A few days ago, a sheriff came to our house and taped some papers to our door saying we have to move out by March 17th or else they would forcibly remove us. Mom and Dad immediately got back on the phone with Indymac, our friend and his attorney, and a furiend here on Dogster who has given them invaluable advice and amazing support. Between all of them, it worked! Today Mom and Dad got a letter, all official - from the court - saying Indymac has to let us stay until AT LEAST April 2oth, which will give our friend plenty of time to close the deal on the purchase of our- oh, excuse us, INDYMAC'S house, therefore allowing us to remain living here, in peace, as a family together. We can't even explain what a relief it is to have that very impawtant piece of paper! *WHEW* We hesitate to say that our troubles are over because we've known those bank folks to pull some pretty sleazey moves - and make some pretty big mistakes. We THINK we have our living situation under control now, and that we don't have to worry about where we will be living. We're reasonably sure that we'll be okay and be able to stay in our home. Unless something really off the wall and unexpected happens, everything should work out as planned, so we THINK we can all rest easier now!! But through all this we have come to realize that there are ALOT of families out there in the world who are going through the same living Hell. We feel sooo very blessed to have friends to support us and who have come to our aid in so many ways and helped us to get through this with such pawsitive results. We remember each day and night to include all the others who are having hard times in our prayers. It hurts our hearts to know that so many are dealing with the grief and fear of losing their homes. Families will be split - furs and furless. Mom and dad have learned alot and have gathered alot of valuable infurmation - mostly from our furiends' pawents here on Dogster and Catster, and we want to let everyone know that if they need help knowing what they might do to try to avoid foreclosure, try asking us. We can't guarantee we can fix anything, but we do have alot of ideas and infurmation that we can share. The first thing is DON'T WAIT TOO LONG! We lost our house. We no longer own it. The best we ca ... Why would they want to keep our house (along with the thousands of others that have been foreclosed on) and kick us out on the streets, when there is an investor who could give them every single penny that is owed on the house, in cash, immediately?! If the bank would accept the investor's offer, take the cash and let him buy the house, we would be able to stay here in this house and rent it. It is devastating to lose all we have worked for for 28 years, but even worse, to be put out on the street with our fur babies. First of all, it seems just criminal the way they foreclosed on us while we were on a repayment plan. As long as we made our payments to the bank on time, they were not supposed to foreclose. However, the bank was supposed to have emailed us a copy of the terms of the repayment plan (A) so we could read the rules and know what the rules were ie: payment due date, amount of payment, and that as long as we met the terms, our house would not go to a foreclosure sale , and (B) so we could sign the papers (the agreement) and fax them back to the bank like they told us was so imperative that we do. After not having received the paperwork - the terms of the repayment plan - for us to read, understand, sign and fax back to them, after two weeks, I called the bank to ask why we hadn't yet received it. I was told that they had emailed it to us and they just couldn't understand why we hadn't received it. They told me they would "put a request in to the proper department to have the paperwork emailed again". After another week, we still had not received it. Meanwhile, we had paid a lump sum of $6800.00 to the bank, another lump sum of $4400.00 to the bank, and two monthly mortgage payments of $1845.00 - all supposedly required of us as part of honoring the repayment plan. So I called them again, told them we still had not received it, heard the same answer as before and again was promised they would "put a request in to have the paperwork emailed again". I gave them 4 more email addresses and I also asked them to fax it to Fed Ex/ Kinko's and I gave them the fax #. This went on for three months!!! I called them every week on Tuesdays. I looked through all my inboxes and spam for each email account I have every single day. I called Kinko's every day to check for a fax. I heard nothing but lies from the bank. They did not send the agreement. If they had, I would have received it. In January, I expressed to the bank my concern at sending thousands and thousands of dollars to them without having something in writing to assure us that our house would not be repossessed and not knowing the terms of the repayment plan. We never did receive the paperwork and then on February 5th, our house was repossessed. We knew nothing about the foreclosure having occurred until a real estate agent knocked on our door on Sunday, February 8th and told us that Indymac Bank had sent him to inform us that our house had been repossessed. Obviously, the bank was doing exactly what I had told them that we feared they would do. They took every last nickel we had in the whole world and then they foreclosed. Now we are told that the repayment agreement was never even typed up and the bank was not obligated to send us a copy of the terms! They are telling us that the payments I made to them were paid late! They are saying that the payment due date was the 12th of the month, not the 28th as it had always been before. We were not informed, even verbally, that the due date had been changed to the 12th from the 28th. We feel that we have been and robbed of our home of 16 years! February 23, 2009 We finally were able to make the bank agree to sell our house to a friend of ours who is an investor. Although we have lost our house, we still have our home. This is an enormous relief to us, to say the least. It was breaking our hearts to think that we no longer had a safe, warm home for our fur babies. We didn't know if we would be able to stay together, as a family, or if we would have to find homes for the babies wherever they would be fortunate enough to be welcome. We couldn't stand the thought of seperating them from each other, let alone from us. We are sooo grateful for the many offers we received from our Dogster and Catster friends to welcome, not only one or more of the fur babies into their homes, but my husband and I as well. We knew it would be extremely stressful for our fur babies to be seperated from each other and from us, and we can't begin to explain our relief that that will not have to happen, or how grateful we are to know that friends were there for us if it did. Thank you all so much for everything! Your love, support, prayers and friendship are amazing and appreciated more than we will ever be able to express. Dogsters and Catsters are amazing, outstanding and the most pawrecious furiends that anyone could ever be blessed with!!! Our family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for each and every prayer and show of kindness and understanding. We love you with all our hearts and we will always be here for any of you who ever need anything. Thank you for being here for us. Throughout this ordeal, Teddi Sue had become extremely ill. She began to experience weight loss, vomiting and bloody diahrrea(sp). Thanks to one of our very close Dogster friends, we were able to take Teddi to the vet for blood tests and examination, special food and medication. We did not ask for help from this friend, but she offered it immediately when she found out that Teddi was ill and needed treatment. The vet diagnosed her as suffering from stress colitis, inflamation of her bowels and intestines caused by excessive stress. After the visit to the vet, Teddi seemed to be doing much better for a couple of days, but then she had a relapse last Friday, the 20th, and had to go back for another visit and given additional testing and medication. The second visit will be paid for with funds that were so graciously and generously raised through our Dogster and Catster friends by another dear Dogster friend. Teddi Sue is again doing better. Our family is so very grateful for the kindness, love, support and generosity that has been so graciously and generously given to us during this time of need and depair. We really don't know what we would do without you all. This is not the first time that our Dogster and Catster friends have been here for us when we have so desperately needed friendship, love and support. I truly believe that there are no others in this world who are more dedicated and devoted to their friends and fur babies. I am so completely humbled and honored to be a part of such a loving, caring and devoted community. Thank you, friends, for being here for us. Ummm.... that is after Mom stayed up 'til 6:30 a.m. typing happy woofs and helping us give pressies to a buncha our wunnerful pals. So, yeah, well, she's mostly mad at herself fur being silly enough to stay up all night.... again... on a work night. But, hey! We just looove Dogster and our pals so much we couldn't help it! So, yup, she's mad at herself, but, it didn't help too much that when she and Daddy and Teddi Sue got home from work... finally... at 9:10 p.m., in the pitch dark, they came in to find the whole living room, dining room and kitchen torn apawt. There was a note from Kaiti saying that, when she came at 5:30 to pick up Link, she cleaned up the mess they made! Gee. Mom really woulda been even angrier if she had seen the mess before Kaiti cleaned it up! There was garbage strewn, books, shoes, papers and the cute li'l pawprint mold that Kiko sent to Zelda, all chewed up everywhere! See, Link /AKA Yicky Boy, is quite the athlete. He can bounce right up onto the kitchen table, or the desk, from a stand-still on the floor. So sweet li'l innocent (yeah, right!) Penny Ann and Zelda Marie leave it up to Yickers to drag down anything he can manage to get his naughty li'l paws on, then we all pawceed to have a big pawty! Not only was the whole house a disaster area, but when Mommy walked in the front door, she stepped on a "pressie" that was left on the carpet by a certain white - with - black spots - MinPinChi - princess diva who shall remain nameless. Mom's a pretty good dogtective so she knows who left the pressie. Furst of all, Kaiti would have cleaned "the pressie" up if it had been there when she came to pick up Link. Second, Penny Ann would never, EVER leave a nasty li'l pressie like that in the house ! Third, Teddi Sue was at work with Mom and Dad so she's definitely in the clear. Ooookay! So. We have the 13 hour work day on 20 minutes of sleep, a rooster next door who never stops crowing - day and night, the completely trashed house, "the pressie" on Mom's shoe and the carpet, the ruined pawprint mold from Kiko : ( ... then there's the knock on the front door. It's some man who came to give Mom and Dad some papers called a "Trustee's Notice of Sale of Property". That's just like the absowoof worst papers in the whole wide world and it made Momma cry. Despite the huge number of hazardous plants and materials out there, I have noticed that three of them seem to be more commonly ingested by pets than the others. So, although I encourage you to be proactive about protecting your pet from all potential poisons, please be especially aware of these three. Chocolate. Toxicity depends on the size of the pet, the type of chocolate consumed (darker chocolate is more dangerous than lighter chocolate), and the amount of chocolate that is eaten. Severe intoxication with chocolate can lead to irregular heart rhythms and death. Many dogs seem to find chocolate just as delicious as we humans do. Sadly, for dogs chocolate can be much worse than a guilty pleasure. Rat and mouse poisons (rodenticides). Even small amounts of rodenticide can be deadly to cats and dogs. The most commonly used rodenticides cause internal bleeding. There is an antidote, but it must be administered rapidly to prevent severe illness or death. Chewing gum. This is a relatively new player in the world of pet poisons. Not all chewing gum is toxic. However, several popular brands contain a sweetener called xylitol. Xylitol can cause dangerously low blood sugar in dogs. It also has been linked to liver damage. I recommend that pets never be allowed access to any poisons. However, please be especially careful with the three listed above. Dogs are more likely than cats to be exposed to each of these poisons because they are less selective about what they eat. If you suspect that your pet has consumed any poisonous product, contact a veterinarian immediately. Acting quickly can help to prevent serious consequences. If possible, always bring the packaging from the product that was consumed, as well as any remaining product to the veterinarian’s office when you seek treatment. This will help the vet to positively identify the type and amount of toxin consumed. Smuckers is a double dapple dachshund boy. He was born with a crooked spine which has recently been causing him quite a bit of pain in his back end. I have a kind of simple website that you could go to if you would like. There are more photos there too. I have been trying to get donations for Smuckers for a couple of months now. But for the longest time we were not recieving any. Well yesterday I called the vet to check our donation account and they told me that we had 200 dollars in the account! I was dumbfounded! We need to raise 1,450.00 dollars total just to get the MRI scans done of my spine. So we are still working on the donations as much as we can. We are going to do a garage sale to benifit Smuckers soon. I am in the process of planning it all out right now. I am determined to keep going and to keep trying. I hope we can find a way to raise the money as soon as possible. Smuckers is like a baby to me....He is like my child. In fact some of my family members think I am the crazy wiener dog lady because I love my two doxies so much BOL! But other family members that have been touched by Smuckers love him so much. Teddi Sue was in her car in a small blue crate with a blanket over it so no one could see inside, and D'Ann checked on her every 10-15 minutes. When D'Ann came out the last time, the car was gone with little Teddi Sue inside. The car was found several days later near the area where it had been stolen, but Teddi Sue and her crate were not inside. D'Ann has been staying in Auburn and looking for Teddi Sue. If you know anyone in the area or any other dog forums where this info could be added, please alert them about this missing puppy! What police didn’t find was Teddi Sue, the 4-month-old miniature Chihuahua-pinscher Lally had left in a cart in the back seat when she was inside the restaurant. Lally’s heart is broken. “My whole life is on hold,” Lally said. “She is my baby. She means more to me than the car.” Lally has devoted nearly every waking hour since to looking for the little black and tan dog. Mica - The Wonder Pup, to lend a paw in the quest to find Blue, a beloved pup missing from his home since May of 2007. We can certainly empathize with Blue's family as our own Teddi Sue was stolen in April of this year. With the outpouring of support and love from our Dogster and Catster friends, and by the grace of God and the Power of the Paw, Teddi Sue was found and reunited with us after being missing for nearly eight weeks. While Teddi Sue was missing, of course, our family was completely devastated. We wondered if she was alive, and if so, was she safe, happy, warm and fed? Was she being treated with love and care? So many horrendous thoughts plagued our minds and only with the support and love shown to us by so many Dogster and Catster friends, were we able to continue to keep hope and to search for her in any and every way we knew how. Our Mom isn't real computer-wise and she really had no idea where to begin in the online search. That is where we were just totally blown away by the way our beloved friends came to our aid and just really got right down to business, emailing shelters and veterinarians. They registered Teddi Sue on every online lost and found pet website one can imagine and then proceeded to check those sites daily for any word of her. Flyers were made and distributed and posted all across the state of Washington. Every single Dogster in the state of Washington received a pup pal request with Teddi's information and were asked to post flyers in their area. We just cannot explain how overwhelmed with gratitude our family was and still is. Without that love and support, we would have been all but totally hopeless and helpless to find our little girl and bring her back home. Now this is a way that we can have a small part in trying to help get Blue back home to his family, who is no doubt as devastated as our family was. Blue's family needs to feel the love and support. It is essential for them to be able to keep the hope as they are probably feeling quite frustrated and hopeless at times. They must not give up! We must not give up! We're praying fur Sassy , one of our very closest Dogster friends - well, ... Sassy , one of our very closest Dogster friends - well, actually, one of our closest friends - period. Sassy has cancer and is in surgery today to have her spleen removed. Sassy, and her mom and dad, Sally and Jim, were there fur us when our Teddi Sue was missing for 2 months from April - June, 2007. They were major catalysts in helping to bring Teddi home, and being our voice to all our Dogster and Catster friends when our mom couldn't. The night Mom got the call telling us where Teddi Sue was, who did Mom call? Sally. They cried and laughed and prayed together. When Mom went to Seattle and picked Teddi Sue up, who did she call? Sally - then Dad, then Dee, Rocky's mom. Sassy has been our dear friend since just about the time we first came to Dogster. She has helped us learn to decorate our pages and add music. She makes wonderful pictures fur us, cuz our mom can't seem to figger that one out. Sassy is always there fur any pup who is in need. She has always had a very special place in her heart fur shelter pups and has done so much to help them and try to make their lives a little bit nicer. We can't tell you how many times that beautiful pup has brought smiles to our faces and wags to our tails. No one could ever have a better, more loyal friend. She always makes the time fur her friends. Sassy's daddy, Jim, is a one - of - a - kind, ultra sweetheart! Always very supportive of her Dogster friends, and even sang "Peggy Sue" during the days when Teddi Sue was missing. He jumped right on the 'puter and helped look fur Teddi Sue. It must be so wonderful to have a daddy like that. Sassy is one of the most loved pups on Dogster. She is everypup's pal. It's so good to be back online! We missed alot of fun stuff... like Arthur's and Sarg ... Arthur's and Sarge's pawty fur Winston and Little Moe ... an' Amber's Engagement Pawty, Gracie Jane's birthday, an' every minute it seems like we're findin' out about more fun we missed! The Dogster Dog has left everyone juicy watermelons and beautiful blue stars! How special is that! . A very special pup, Chocolate , just turned 20 years old! *thinks hard, counts on paws*. Another sweet an' special pal, Freddie The Old Man ,went to the Rainbow Bridge and was also chosen as Dogster's Dog of the Day. He was a sweet ol' guy an' it's nice to know that he is at peace and pain - free with so many of our other beloved pals at the Bridge. We're sure we missed other birthdays an' special events, too. We're jes' waitin' to find out. Thank goodness fur Kaiti, who finally was able to figger out our internet pawblems and get us up an' running again! Mom says we were starting to get depressed an' go through withdrawal *scratches heads wonders* from missing our furiends on Dogster! We think maybe Mom was the one going through with- whatever - she - said! We got real lucky on July 7th and our internet just happened to be working fur long enough to get us through Buster's and Penny Ann's wedding which was a long time coming! The original date was set fur April 21st, but then Teddi Sue , our li'l sister and the Flower Dog, was stolen, so we postponed the wedding. Thank Dogness, and all our wonderful, loving furiends, Teddi Sue was found and came back home on June 3rd. The wedding was lovely, with Buster's brother Brutus officiating and many of our closest furiends in attendance. Buster and Penny enjoyed a furbulous honeymoon on a two week cruise to The Bahamas, a most pawtastic gift from Brutus! Oh! And also, we find ourselves being Love Tagged by several of our dear furiends! Ummm, hehe, we better get off our tails an' get to taggin' pals cuz there's an awful lotta love to spread an' we're still tryin' to catch up on the furst Tag game! Cheyenne has always been shy and submissive - hence the name Cheyenne - we call her Shy-Shy or Shy-Girl. - However once she gets to know you she is all love and so sweet and such a love. She was 3rd of the 3 dogs we (my husband and I ) have had for the last 1o years. We have just recently lost our 10yr old Rotti "Duke" to cancer - and about a week and a half later we took Cheyenne and Star - (Star is our 5 yr old female Rotti/Border Collie mix) to the groomers Love & Care Pet Salon- on Saturday April 7th in Tukwila, Wa. 98168 We got a call a couple hours later telling us COME QUICK - your dog just jumped out the window and we can't catch her!.....WHAT! OMG! We drove up there as fast as we could and looked and drove and walked and called frantically until dark. We have been searching everyday and night since. She is still Missing. - we are completely devestated by all of this - and Star too - is so sad lately - losing both her best friends in 1 week! Cheyenne is like her pup. She has mothered her since we first brought her home. I have been searching everyday in every way possible since then - i barely sleep - and the last 7 weeks have been pretty much a blur - making 1000's of posters and posting them up - driving 1000's + of miles checking every local shelter and neighborhood. Handing out flyers and going door to door. Even hired a search and rescue dog to try and track her - but he didnt get there until 2 days later - managed to track her scent to a wooded area owned by the port of seattle - we have been searching this area for aweek with no luck. We want our baby back! If theres anything anyone can do or suggest to help - please let us know - this is my first time at dogster - i am glad i found it - i have been posting this lost ad and her picture anywhere i can - and emailing to everyone. She is 2 yrs old - and her mother was a golden retreiver and they told me the father was a shepherd chow mix. She is golden tan with a lighter chest and belly with black and grey muzzle and eyebrows - she is somewhat skittish around people she doesnt know and unfamiliar things. She can be very playful and excited - loves to go for walks and drives in the car and playing fetch in the yard but she is shy and easily spooked by things - our cats tease her and like to chase her - she runs from them too, or she rolls over on her back playing the submissive role again - we MISS HER SO MUCH! and are so worried. UPDATE: Cheyenne is still missing as of May 26th - according to all the sightings and work with search and rescue scent tracking dogs she was tracked headed towards home and almost made it - the sightings have stopped coming in in the last 2 weeks - we believe she made it to the White Center area - where she was either taken in by someone or picked up by someone - they may not know she is missing yet - we have been searching for our girl since the day she went missing everyday in everyway imaginable posting 1000's of posters and flyers, hired scent tracking dogs 3 times now - tons of classifieds - still searching all the shelters and rescue - PLEASE HELP US BRING HER HOME!
