I still miss "my pooch", even though she wasn't just mine. Dad got Daisy because he simply couldn't tolerate a house without a dog any longer. Unfortunately, Daisy didn't read that memo, because she always favored Mom.

===

Daisy, you were, and still are, an awesome pooch. The only annoying thing I now remember is your hound bark, and oh how you loved to use it! I remember one day in particular when you used your hunting skills. It was the day when you thought you saw Missy run across the yard, just after she died. I know you thought it was her, because you barked your happy bark and managed to get out of my grasp as I put the leash on you. You leaped off the deck - I think you avoided using several steps - and off into the woods you went. We weren't sure if you'd come back, but you did, a couple hours later, looking more sad than you ever did. You stopped looking for Missy after that. Before then, you had been sighing a lot, sniffing out Missy's favorite places, and laying in her spots. We could see the tears in your eyes; it made us all very sad.

You loved Christmas as much as Boogie did, although you never developed a love for him. He'd go after his cat nip stocking, and you'd look for your stocking with a raw hide and a new dolly in it. I think, though, that you secretly liked Boogie's attention, even when he slapped you across the nose so hard we heard his claws click against your nose!

It was so much fun to watch you bound through the snow like a young pup again, tunneling through big drifts and just watching your tail stick out.

You (almost) always came when you were called. You loved attention, and you relished the fact that our family of 6 had 12 hands to use on you.

That last winter (your last Christmas was the year you got that doggie bed you loved so much) you didn't move as well as you used to, and we could tell that old age was creeping up on you, but "the end" came quickly, for which I am grateful. It only took a weekend for you to fail enough for us to make one last trip to the vet. You were determined to wait for Mom & Tony to come home from a youth camping trip so you could say goodbye.

Can you believe that since you've left, Daddy has died too, and now Tony, Becky and Lisa are all married and have babies of their own? I'm sure you'd be all over it. Mommy's moved to a new house and has another cat to love, which would NOT impress you one bit.

It's hard to believe its been over six years since you left, because you're still such a member of the family. Can you believe that I was actually looking for you as recently as Christmas? Tony is still counting the days until he can get a dog of his own. He had so much fun with you. Now all he has to do is convince his wife that now is the time to have a dog! She'd much rather have a cat.

Thank you for sharing your life with us. We all miss you so!

Love, Phinnie
