WOW, I was a diary pick today.

I'm pretty sure this is the first time any of the Muttley Crew have been so honoured. The Downunder Gang get awards far more often - usually Ra. I suspect the Diary Gal at Catster has trouble ignoring his adorable face.

The Diary Picks always kind of surprise me - none of us are regular writers. Just a bit now and then it something worth talking about happens. And even then sometimes we don't get around to it.

What a week - first my cat brofur Ra was Cat of the Day on Catster, then I discovered I was Ruler of the Week on Rotties Rule, and then it was International Talk Like a Pirate Day, me hearties. So lots of celebrating and pawty going.

Which kind of made up for the fact our family had three Bridge anniversarys in the last month. You always get the highs with the lows, and vice versa.

Anyway, I thought it was great that HQ had a free pirate flag giftie to celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day. There is nothing nicer than being able to send gifties to ALL your furrends.

Hope everyone had fun running scurvy knaves up the mast, or keel hauling them, or whatever. Evidently, October 14 is Talk like a Trucker Day. I'm not sure I know how a trucker talks? Does anyone?

What will they come up with next?

It is with great sadness that I report that Satiba AKA The Bunny (#324480) went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.

Those who knew Bunny can tell you what a wonderful, funny Princess she was - kind heart, loving, always ready for a game, and with a love of life and her family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her loving pawrents at this sad time.

I Remember

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying. You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today. Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "Good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.

Bunny, we will never forget you

Mum lay down on the bed this afternoon to read a magazine. Needless to say, she soon had three dogs. And Schooby was sitting next to the bed, so Mum thought, well, let's try. So she picked her up and settled her on her chest, stroking her. Schooby settled down and started purring. I thought - opportunity. So I siddeled up to her and licked her head. She looked at me, and kept purring. WOW! Freya, tamer of wild kittens, wins again.

Then I thought I would try my luck with Molly who was on the cat bed on the cage. But when I headed in her direction she hissed. But she stayed on the bed, and didn't run to under the bed. So I am making progress in my kitty taming.

How could any kitty resist a huge, loveable rottweiler like me? And I'm a great warm pillow in winter, BOL.

I was one on Sunday. Mum took me, Valkyrie and Seany to the Off-Leash dog park. We played on our own for about an hour (Mum does tend to go out in the midday sun - especially in winter), and then other dogs started arriving. It was great - there was eight of us racing around like mad, chasing each other and playing. There were even two dogs about Seany's size - I don't think I've ever seen him so active. I meant a really cute German Shepherd - he's 11 months, but younger men are OK - I'm a modern girl.

When we went home, Mum split up a BBQ chook for us all for dinner - the cats had a breast between them, Mum had the wings and a drumstick, and Val, Seany and me had the rest with some dry food.

It was great. I can hardly wait for my next birthday - or maybe even Valkyrie's in September.

I was so tuckered by the end of the day, I slept like a log - right next to Mum, and she can barely move me now I'm all grown up.

My big sister Valkyrie and I did the Million Paws Walk yesterday. It was Valkyrie's second walk, and my first. It is a fund raiser for the RSPCA, but for us it is just a great day out with lots and lots of dogs. There were little chihuahua's, big great danes, and everything in between. I saw a pink poodle with sparkles in her hair, and some other dogs dressed as fairies with wings. We were so excited, I think Mum was worn out by the time we got home. Seany didn't get to go because Mum said she couldn't handle three dogs on her own, but he'll come next year when Dad is home with us.

I look at the top photo of me when I first arrived, and look - 6 months later I'm almost as big as my big sis Valkyrie. Seany is on a diet cos he was 25kg when he came to live with us, and he should be around 14kg. A week or so ago we tied at 22.3 kg - me on the way up, him on the way down. Or should that be weigh down, hee hee.

Unfortunately, Mum tries to be fair, so if Seany isn't getting treats, we don't either. And I LOVE treats. Sometimes though she sneaks something to Val and me when he's otherwise engaged elsewhere. And we do get more food in our feed bowls. Seany is fed in another room, cos Val and I wolf our food down. Seany eats slowly and we'd (well, I'd) finish his off for him if we (I) could get at it.

We love our pool, especially now it's really hot, but we are in the middle of a drought so Mum can't fill it, except when it rains she directs a downpipe from the carport into it, and it fills up, yeah, and then Val and I can splash around and empty it over the next couple of days. I'm starting to like rainy weather. Not that we've had much, but there was a good bit last night, so maybe today we can play in our pool.

Wags for now!
