About two weeks ago Mom brought me to the vet because she noticed that a few of my teeth were greenish-grey and loose. The vet said they were rotten and needed to be removed to avoid infection... Gasp! Mom left me at the vet all alone!!! The next thing you know, I wake up and I have a really sore mouth and am missing 7 teeth. That includes three right in the front (incisors); Dad calls me a redneck puppy!
I am feeling back to normal now, and it's great because I get to cuddle really close to Mom and Dad and they don't gag because my breath doesn't smell anymore. Woof!!

Just wanted to drop by and tell you that we're still around. Mom's been pretty busy with all sorts of stuff and hasn't had much chance to hang out on Dogster these last months. She misses it though! Hopefully she can fit in a few minutes here and there to keep in touch.

Well! We've been pretty busy around here for the past few months. Mom and Dad are getting the full monty with us four legged kids... First: Layla and Zeppelin got sprayed by a skunk, then I hurt my back, and now Zeppelin's got sores on his hind legs because Layla nibbles on him too much. Don't tell him, but Mom said he has to wear the cone of shame (shudder) because he licks his sores too much. Poor Zep.

On to me! Something happened Wednesday April 28th, and I was in a lot of pain. Mom and Dad couldn't figure out why and what had happened. I’ll let Mom explain:

We were camping at my fiancé’s family’s place in a small village and we were sleeping in the VW van. Layla and Zep weren’t with us; they stayed home with my sister. So, I got up one morning to let Jagger out to pee, and I found he was walking a little funny. He peed and came back, as if he was walking on his tippy toes. When he tried to jump back into the VW, he just fell backwards, it was very strange. So I bent over and picked him up, and he screamed the worse possible scream I’ve heard from him. I immediately teared up and put him on the bed in the VW. I tried to check him all over, but he was shaking and obviously in pain. So, it was still very early, and he seemed to calm down pretty fast. I brought him under the blankets and he curled us and fell asleep. For the rest of the day, he was very calm and would yelp any time we tried to touch him or pick him up. We couldn’t see a vet that day for personal reasons, but we got an appointment for the very next day.

We saw a new vet named Dr Chong. We went to this new place because our usual vet couldn’t see us that day and a good friend recommended this vet. Needless to say, I do not regret seeing her, she was fantastic. She checked him all over, but couldn’t tell if he was tense in certain areas of his back since he was so scared he was shaking all over. She flipped his feet to the inside and he would bring them back, except one. This is when she started to tell us about slipped disk. She got an xray of Jagger’s spine and showed it to us. She explained that he had two disks that had possibly ruptured and she pointed out some arthritis in his spine as well. She also told us that it was difficult to tell from the xray if the disks were ruptured/herniated/displaced. The treatment is the same, so we opted not to get any more tests done. Dr. Chong gave Jagger a prescription for Prednisone (anti inflammatory) and Methocarbamol (muscle relaxant and pain killer) with hopes to wean him off quickly enough, although some dogs require medication permanently. She instructed us on how to pick him up properly and rescheduled a recheck a week later.

Once we got home, the challenge was to teach Jagger not to jump up onto the couch and the bed, as he was used to doing. The first few days were easy since he was still very sore and stiff. Once the medication kicked in though, he felt better and would try to jump. We’ve been back to the vet a few times (they don’t charge for rechecks!!!! :O ) and we’ve tried to wean him off the Methocarbamol. However, it was obvious that he was very stiff without it, so we kept him on both medications. Finally, at the last visit Dr Chong told us she was very happy with his progress and that we should try to stop the medications all together and give him some Glucosamine. The Glucosamine will help with the arthritis, but probably won’t do much for his disks, but we will try.

Fast forward to June 26th: Jagger is back to his old self, which is great but also makes it even harder to limit his jumping. He is very tall for his size and used to be able to jump pretty high, and since he is feeling better he thinks he still can! Oh well, it’s a work in progress. Dr Chong told us to finish his prescriptions and start the Glucosamine right away. He is currently taking a Prednisone every four days and a Methocarbamol every four days (so one pill every two days). I’m finding that in the last two weeks he is showing very little discomfort between his “pill” days. Obviously, we would rather not keep him on medication, that is our ultimate goal. We’ll probably see Dr Chong again in a few weeks when we finish the pills. Cross your paws for us! Jagger is a tough little guy and we just want him to be healthy. :)

Well, since Mom took a flyball class with Zeppelin, she is thinking of taking me to a clicker class. I think I would like that, because I really LOVE the clicker. I'm still learning "Touch", and we're working on "Bow", AND we just started loose leash training too. Wowza! That's lots of thinking.

On top of that, we've been doing lots of walking, which is really fun. Mom and Dad have found some really awesome places to walk, and Zeppelin and I can be off-leash as long as we listen to Mom and Dad when they ask us to come. I'm REALLY good at that, Zeppelin, a bit less (but don't tell him I said that). Haha!

I hope everyone has a nice Valentine's Day! :0)
Later,

Hi everypup!
Sorry it's been so long, we're having a crazy but fun filled summer! Did ya see my new pictures? I got a haircut! Mom says she never wants my hair to grow long again, uh oh! (really I'll get my coat back in time for winter) I feel so lively without all that fur, and I'm more hyper and happy than ever! The groomer Renelle was really proud of me; she said I did really good. I got lots of treats when I got home. Hehehe, looks like I got this thing under control.

Oh, and you know what? I even went swimming when Mom and Dad went in the water. It wasn't too bad... I really like drying off in the sand! But I had to have a bath after, which wasn't so fun. Oh well!

I hope all my Pup Pals are having a fun summer too. Mom says we're going on a trip soon, I can't wait! Zep and I are having a blast!

Paws to you all,

She said I am 11 pounds now! Wowza! But, I am at the perfect weight. Mom was happy about that, teehee. I had to have my yearly "shots", I didn't like that too much.
Ok, so the bump went away by itself. Mom and Dad had to bandage my foot and keep it clean and dry for a week, but once I stopped licking it, it was fine. yay! I didn't even have to see the evil vet. Yessss!

So, maybe you read Zeppelin's Diary, but maybe not. In case you haven't: we have a sister now! Her name is Lucy and I think she is enormous! I wasn't too sure about her at first: I thought she was taking over my space. But, Mom and Dad kept giving me hot dogs and cheese when I was nice to her, and saying no when I wanted to bark at her (I just didn't feel comfortable with her at first).
But, now! I really like her. Sometimes we share the doggie mattress. Mom was so happy today. When I saw Lucy at lunch time (Mom came home to see us), I jumped at her face to give her a lick, just to say hello. I do that to Zeppelin all the time, so it wasn't a big deal to say Hi to Lucy too. We played outside too, and everyone was good, so we all got a treat. Hope I don't get fat with all these treats... mmmm.... cheese.... *drool*

Mom here: I've been researching the retired racing greyhound for almost 6 months now. Initial doubts about adopting one and having 3 dogs have been washed away. I am ready to adopt and have been waiting until my bf says the same. Well, last night came the moment I've been waiting for. Dear bf annonced we would complete the adoption application form this weekend!!! We are both very excited about adopting and adding yet another loving creature to our family. We love it and so does Mommy! ;o) Zeppelin and I both got a Kong that gets stuffed with yummy goodies every time we get left alone. We both got some nice bones for Christmas (and some other presents) and Mommy bought us (more for her than us) a Furminator. I don't really like it that much, but it does feel nice to strip off that dead fur! Wow! And the treats afterwards are pretty good too.

The Holidays were fun, but I am glad to be home again. I was getting restless with all the new people and doggies too!

Oh, and guess what? Mommy has finally found a food that I REALLY like!! Oh man, I hope I don't get fat! I'm finally eating a whole serving every day; it's called Orijen and I get fish oil mixed in with it. Mmm mmmm. Well it's almost suppertime! Gotta go!

Hi again,
So we've been to the dog park twice every weekend since Zeppelin has gotten his first shots! I am a happy puppy! And so is Zeppelin now because he's not so shy around strange dogs anymore (he was scared at first). So we bomb around the park like speeding bullets (That's what mommy says!). AND I even got a whole bunch of sweaters from a nice lady at the park. Her daschund didn't fit in them anymore. Thank you Teeny and Suzanne! I'll get mommy to put up some pictures of me in my new wardrobe real soon!

Hi everyone,
Well mommy's been super busy with our new family member, so she didn"t have time to write right away! But here it is:
I HAVE A NEW LITTLE FURBROTHER!! Yippee! His name is Zeppelin and he is only 10 weeks old, but he is already bigger than me! Uh oh! We play ALL THE TIME and I win pretty often, heheheh! I've had a lot of practice at the dog park. Woof! Sometimes he is too hyper and mommy puts me in the bedroom for a break. Thank dog! But, he sleeps in his kennel and I still get to sleep in bed with mommy and daddy. Hourai for me.
I think we are going to go to the dog park with Zeppelin for the first time this weekend, because he is going to the v-e-t for his shots. I have to go too because my eyes are tearing all the time. boohoo! But, I can't wait to go to the park, I haven't been since Zeppelin has arrived 2 weeks ago!
Take care everyone and go check out Zeppelin's Dogster page!

Hi everyone,
Well, it's official. I am finally used to going for car rides! Youpee! Mommy and Daddy brought me to the dog park so often, I started to get less nervous about being in the car. Now, I jump in if the door is open and I don't get sick anymore! Wow! It took over a year and I wish good luck to all the other puppies out there who get car sick!
I hope we go to the park today...
woof!

Hi Everyone!!
Wow, I haven't been here in a long time! Mommy has been so busy at school she just didn't have time to write down my thoughts for me! Well, this week we had to go to the vet: at first I was very excited to see all the other dogs, but when I met the vet I got scared. She said I was very healthy but a little skinny!! I eat all the time, how can I be skinny??
Anywayz, today we went to the dog park. As soon as we went into the small dog section three other pups tried to jump on me and I got a little scared. I jumped on Daddy's legs, but he wouldn't pick me up! So, I went to run around too and I had lots of fun!
I hope we go again soon!
Well, that's it for today, I'll make sure Mommy writes again soon... I might have to pull out the "sad puppy dog" look but I'll do it!

Hello to pups across the world!
This weekend I went camping with my owners, Francois and Dominique. It was great because I only got sick twice on the whole trip (that's a record for me!haha). I got to play with other dogs, kids and I even saw a horse (I wasn't even scared!). We went on hikes and visited the beach.
I had fun but I found my owners didn't pay that much attention to me. Even if it was their anniversary, I deserve to get pet when I want! So to let them know that, whenever they hugged each other, I would whine and make funny noises. They made fun of me, but played with me anyways!

Maybe I'll get Mommy (Dominique) to add some new pictures of me this week!
Take care everyone!

Hello to all you doggies out there,
Well, I am a little ashamed to say this, but here it goes: I am afraid of water! I went swimming a few times in the past weeks and I really didn't like it! The first time it was at a beach, and I went in with Mommy and Daddy, but all I wanted to do was get out!! When we got home, I had to take a bath because my fur was full of sand (how was I supposed to know I shouldn't roll in it??). I didn't like that either.
My mommy says it doesn't matter if I don't like water, she loves me anyways!

I went to visit Ben this weekend and he let me chew on his raw-hide. I spent all day sunday playing with it. I was like a rolled-up carpet, so I fixed it and now it's unrolled... but it's big enough for me to lie on!! Ben even decided to give it to me, because he just carried it around instead of chewing on it... he's silly! It'll take me months to chew it all up! woof!
Well that's all for now! I'm going for a walk!

Oh, I am so excited! Mommy and Daddy are bringing me on my first camping trip this upcoming weekend! I can't wait! AND, there is a dog friendly beach not far so I get to go swimming for the first time! I wonder if I will like it...
Mommy started bringing me with her when she goes roller-blading. It's great because I get to run as much as I want without her getting too tired (I run really fast)!
Well I'm off to another little jog!
