The summer is sweeping me away. So much fun, one barbeque after another. The best part is I get to spend time with my family, and with my doggie friends.

Mommy has brought home so many little "surprises" for me, but the one that shocked me the most were these two squeaking furry things that run around in a mesh-wire cage. I tried sniffing them, but they always squeal and run away. They sort of remind me of rats, only they have no tail, and they are much more fat. They have so much food in their cage, it's not even funny. The worst part is that mommy is spending so much time with them, that I don't get to spend nearly as much time with her.

So I have had it. I snuck into the bedroom where they are, and snarled, "Ok you little punks, what the heck are you, and why did you take mommy away?" They stared at me at first, then one of them finally squeaked, "We are not taking her away you silly mongrel. We don't even live here, she's just watching us while daddy is away in Alaska. By the way, we are guinea pigs, the most loved rodent of all." I cocked my head, and said "What is Alaska? And what are gin-ee pigs?" The other guinea tilted his head and said "I don't know what Alaska is, and 'guinea pig' is our species, mongrel. We like to be called by are named, Snuggles and Oreo."

I whimpered, and glared at them. "I'm not a mongrel, I'm a dog for your informatiom. And go by the name 'Shadow'. And I don't need you here, your nothing but trouble, so get out of my house!"

Just then, my mommy came into the room and stared from me, too the guinea pigs. She sighed, and walked away. Oreo glared with anger. "It's our lunch time, and you scared her away! Get out of our room!" By now I was infuriated. "YOUR room? No no no no no, this is MY room, MY floor your on, and MY house your in. If your here, you rightfully belong to me." Snuggles had a michievious grin on his little furry face. "Fine then, if we're yours, then go get us something to eat. Afterall, your responsible for us, aren't you?" I glowed with anger. They got the best of me. "How about I teach you to be dogs instead? Your in my house, so you follow my rul;es. And only dogs are allowed here."

They thought it over for awhile, and finally agreed. "Yeah...yeah, ok. Why not." I lifted the top off their wire-mesh cage, and they scampered out. "Ok pups." I ordered, and Snuggles and Oreo lined up in front of me. "First you need me meaningfull names." I put a paw on Snuggles. "You, you will be Spike." I turned to Oreo. "And you will be Butch, any questions?" They just stared at me, so I dropped the army-like tone in my voice. "Ok, first, you have to learn to sniff things, not just nibble on it. See that dog treat over there? Go sniff it." So they did, and they also turned their heads in disgust. I walked over, sniffed it, and gobbled it up without thinking. They stared at me. I blushed a little, and lead them into the backyard. "Ok, now you have to learn to dig, and chase squirrels." I said, motioning to a pile of dirt. They dug rather small holes, and then backed away, trying to get the dirt off their fur coats, while I rolled around, enjoying the dirt not careing at all. "Come on, it's fun!" I roared with joy. "I think we will pass." said Snuggles, looked digusted again.

A squirrel finally landing in the yard, and I chased in barked. The guinea pigs followed squeaking. I stopped, and let them go. But the squirrel didn't budge, it just stared at them, then chucked a nut at Oreo, who in return, chattered his teeth. I shook my head, and motioned for them to come back. "Now, marking your territory---" but I was cut off. Snuggles flashed in anger. "We're through with you, mongrel! Your so disgusting and weird, and besides, I want my timothy hay! We're finnished, go bark up a different tree!"

I snarled at them, and growled, "Fine, you would have been horrible dogs anyway!" They chattered their teeth, and I watched them disappear inside. "Fine, I don't need em anyways."

It was only five minutes before I heard frantic squealing and pleas for help. I started to get up, then thought "Why should I help THEM? They didn't do ANYTHING, except call me a stupid mongrel...but...they are sort of cute, and fuzzy, and...." I ended up giving in, and trotted into the house to see Smokey, the cat had cornered them. They looked at me with pleading eyes and snuggles stated, "You said only dogs were allowed in the house!" I growled back, "Well, she wasn't exactly invited in!" I barked, and snarled, and ran at Smokey, who in returned let out a terrified "MEEEEEEEOOOOW!" and ran for the highest thing possible,a table. I watched her from below the table, satisfied, and barked. The two guinea pigs came by my side and squeaked at her, then I walked them back to their cage. Oreo smiled and said, "Shadow, maybe being a dog isn't such a bad idea." I grinned. "Dogs are only the best animals on the planet."

The next day, Snuggle's and Oreo's dad came to get them. They squealed with joy to see him, and as I watched them go, I saw them digging in their cedar in their cage, chasing one another, pretending one was a squirrel, and squealing at the top of their igloo, pretending a cat was on there. I smiled to myself. "My work here is done."

Ever get the feeling that life is just really great? Well thats how I was feeling today. My mommy says my cousin (NOt genetically related) is comming to visit tomorrow! Her name is Lacey, and she's totally the opposite of me...a bichon frise. I hope she's nice, and not stuck up, like the stupid purebred poodles down the street are. They almost tried to steal my boyfriend, Duce the most handsomest beagle in the world, once. Luckily Duce loves me so much, that that could never happen!...eerr...ok, back on topic...

Anyways, my mommy left me for FIVE WHOLE HOURS while she went to a funeral. When she came back, she played with me all day! She took my to my friend, Abby's house. Abby is a hyper English sheepdog, but we still had fun! I met two beagles that live nextdoor to Abby, and we got to play in the water...YAY!

Then mommy gave me a bath...yuck. BEcause I got all messy, and she wants me too look and...SMELL nice for tomorrow. What could possibly be better then the smell of dog? Better yet wet dog? I'll tell ya, humans are really crazy sometimes...thinking that junk smells nicer. But I have to say, raspberry oatmeal scented smells pretty nice. Better then that summer peach crud at least.

I got my first BUBBLE BATH. And when I say that the bubbles were over my head, I'm not overracting. The bubbles were so fun, and mommy took pictures, which will NOT be up here in a few days....at least I hope not.

Ok, I was all clean, and shiny, and ready to be pampered. I ran around outside after a short two-minute storm stopped, and then mommy had a surprise for me! She said it had to be cooked...I loved the sound of that. That ment FOOD!!! But not just any food. This food is the best possible food in the world. This food is.....a hot dog!

Nice, sizzling, just broiled and fresh, mommy cut it, cooled it, and let me eat it in the garage outside with her. YUM! That had to be one of the best hot dogs I have ever eaten before!

I will remember to write about Lacey tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Yes, I am going away. My mommy is going to someplace she calls 'diss-nie' and Uncle Mark will be taking care of me!!! Yay! Fun time...Uncle Mark is super nice! His house I am staying at is fun too! And I get to see my cousins Snowball (American eskimo dog) and Braidy (cat)! Braidy and I get along super-well. Snowball is sort of old and cranky, but after awhile I know she loves me too!

Uncle Mark has STAIRS in his house, omigosh, STAIRS! The fun of running UP and DOWN, UP and DOWN....oh glory...fun. Snowball is always complaining about them, how can she possibly do that?! And then there is a huge fenced in yard where I don't have that silly green leash tugging me. Fun....

Mommy has p[acked all my food, toys, medicine (Shadow will be getting surgery on her leg, and is on pain killer), and my beds! All 2 of them! Yes, fun...I will miss her. =( But at least when I see her again I'll be super happy. Miss you all while I'm *boogie* on vacation!

My day started out nice and easy. I wanted to sleep in, but my mommy's mom (She's known as mom, mommy is know as mommy) made me get up. Anyways, mom woke me up early, even though I didn't want to get up. She took me outside, then went back in to wake up mommy, who also didn't want to get up. When mom and mommy left, I wasleft alone with Grandma. Grnadma will scratch my belly, but neve rplays with me. So when no one watched, I snuck out the slightly opened door, onto the porch for some fresh air. I'm not allowed to go outside by myself...ever. I sat on the porch, and stared at the snow-covered ground, then realized I was free. Mommy would never know I was gone because I was at school! And grandma? Well..she wouldn't care!

I happily jumped off the porch, and bounded across the snowey yard. I made my way down Christopher mill street, and headed into Marlton. Soon I was on the busy road. So much excitment! It reminded me of when I had been a stray in Pennsulken, but then I remembered the mean people that hurt me, and always hungry...but the good times too.

I edged about from some scary, fast moving machines on the road, into the woods, and soon found myself lost. Suddenly a pakc of dogs surrouned me. They snarle.d I yipped, and they chased me through the forest, nipping at my heels. I finally made it back into the town part of the surburbs where I live, and the dogs ran. I found myself on a farm that read 'Indian Acres'. I sighed and walked away. As I walked down the road, some people looked at me. Then finalyl someone pulled over, and grabbed one of my legs. He then proceeded to drag me into the car. I was so scared, I bit his nose. He screamed, and let go. I bolted away. Later I was at a Chinese food restraunt.

The manager, a big fat man glared, and ordered a younge lady to chase me away. She had kind eyes, and gave me some delious meat scrapes and rice! And even some shrimp! I ate it and licked her before running off, thinking mommy will be home soon.

I made it home safely, without running into the dog pack until the end. They chased me to the door where Iw hined and barked, and pawed until it opened. Then I turned, and slammed the door shut in the other dogs' faces.

Grandma walked over. "You've been so ncie and quiet, Shadow. How about a treat?"

Now THAT I would like... ^_~

Yes. White fluffy cold stuff started falling when my mommy was at what she calls a hell hole, but my mommy's gandma calls it 'Skoo-skool'...or however you say it, anyways, when mommy was gone it happened! I had seen it before, but never saw it actually falling before. I wanted to go out so badly and whined, but grandma said no. Finally after what seemed like hours of watching it fall lonely from the see-through door, mommy came home. I was so happy! She took me on a long walk and I had so much fun in the white stuff that my mommy called "Snoe". I love the cold, it's so awesome! And running around off-leash with my good friend, Spike, a smooth fox terrier was awesome! So was the long walks my mommy took me on, and ice skating in my yard! Mommy took my picture with snow on my nose just for dogster! It has been a fun cold day. Mommy put my sweater on and now I'm tired....*snore*

Mommy took me to Petsmart today. She said something about "It's gonna be fun", which normaly is NOT good. When we arrived at Petsmart I grew excited. I LOVED this place. That is, until we entered a place that read "GROOMING". This lady came and started messing with my nails! She clipped one and it started to bleed! I whimpered. She looked sad and said sorry. She wiped it with some yellow powder, and the pain eased. She talked with my mommy and my mommy's mommy for awhile, they signed something, and the lady came. Her face was smiling. "Come on Shadow!" I cowered. My mommy gave me a big huge. Her face was somewhat sad somewhat happy. She gave the leash to the lady, and the lady TOOK ME AWAY! I whimpered, and tried to pulll back to mommy, who waved, then mommy and my mommy's mommy walked away! They were leaving me here to DIE! I cried. They opened the door...for all I knew it lead to my very death. When she opened the door...it revealed PARADISE! An entire world just for me! Dogs where being mushaged (bathed), brushed, clipped, and some lay in cozy beds! One golden retriever barked to me. "Hey kid! This your first time?" I nodded. "Don't worry, it will be just fine!" my collar was taken off. I was put into a tub and mushaged. I sighed happy. The golden retriever suddenly grew excited. His owner walked in and took him. "Good boy Scruffy, down!" They walked away happy. I whimpered. I missed my mommy.
The lady coaxed me, then put on some rasberry shampoo, and rinsed it out. Then some rasberry perfurm. It smelled so good! When I was dried, nails had been clipped, and they had tied a very cute fall bandana around my neck, I was put into a nice cozy bed. I fell asleep. I was EXTREMELY tired. When I woke up, the lady put my collar and leash on me, gave me a treat, and took me out. My mommy was waiting for me! I was so happy! She said I smelled very nice, and looked beautifull! She thanked the lady, and took me. We went home and I slept the rest of the...*yawn* day....*snore*

Today was a nice, slightly chilly day. My mommy took me to Petsmart first. She bought me a brand new leash and matching collar! Both black like my fur, with pure white bones on them! it looks like bones floating around my neck since I'm all black. she also bought me a new rope toy! Tug of war! YES! Then afterwords, she took me home for awhile and gave me some of my new treats! Then she took me over to my petpal, Gracie's house. Gracie's mommy and my mommy took us to the dog park! It was PACKED. Gracie and I had so much fun! I swam in the water like crazy! Not to mention an old friend i had met here awhile ago showed up! Tino! Tino looks just like a bigger verson of me with a husky tail. We played all day. Then I met another lab mix like me and my age! She was yellow, and fun! But Gracie started harassing her and scaring her! She hid in some bushes. Gracie tackled her growling, and my new friend started to whine. When Gracie cornered her again, I jumped between the two, baring my fangs at Gracie. she looked at me, sighed, and walked away. But she kept a close eye on my new friend.

When it was time to go, Mommy took me into the shade. She gave me fresh water and a cold snow cone! Then Me, Gracie, and our mommies headed home, and fell asleep. I don't think I'll be waking up for awhile...-SNORE-

Yesterday it was raining hard, was cold and was miserable out, as my mommy says. So she took me to Petsmart and got me a training collar for puppy school, two new toys, and a specail peanut butter filed bone (that disapeared in about 20 minutes)! It was a fun filled day, and I relaxed all day long with my mommy!

Today was fun! it was a perfect temperture, not to hot, not to cold with a slight breeze. It was a great autumn day, not a cloud in the perfect blue sky. The sun was shining, and the air filled with lots of different and awesome sents. Pumpkins, and pumpkin pie baking fresh, leaves, maple sap, corn, and apples! It was amazing! These sents made the most magnifisent smell i've ever smelled! It was my first true autumn day! I chased leaves blowing in the wind, walked all day with friends and with my mommy because she didn't want me missing out on my first true autumn day. It was a blast, now it's evening. It's the perfect evening. I have just walked over to my favorite window screened in and layed on the carpet next to it, stareing out while chewing on a tasty vinilla flavored bone. I sniff the brisk autumn evening air, thinking to myself about my life so far. I'm thinking to myself what a wonderfull life I have. I went from being a lonely, abused stray puppy at a younge age, half staved then in a dirty dump if an animal shelter to being pampered, having a nice, warm home and a family, and lots of doggie friends. I finally have somewhere I belong....

Today was so much fun! My mommy made specail homemade dog biscuits for me, and a new friend I made. Her owner is a good friend of my mommy's. He looks like a huge, bristlely furred black lab with a wolf's body, but a german shepherd wolf head. He might even be part wolf! He hated all other dogs until he met me and thought I was to cute to attack. I'm his first friend, and he's so much fun!

Our mommies walked us all day and let us chase some guinea hens all over the place! They were so stupid and never flew awya, just ran and stuff. We'd never hrut any, just liked to chase and catch them! Then they brought us to my house and my mommy made us some homemade biscuits! I'm so happy to be Hoover's friend, he's the best wolfdog ever! He's so fuzzy and soft, and he's like a giant cute teddy wolf! (WITHOUT pointy ears) He is all black with a white spot on his chest just like me!

It's horrifying! This big yellow thing with wheels comes and takes my mommy away somewhere! My mommy told me it's called a "Bus" whatever that is, but it takes my mommy away for SIX ENTIRE HOURS! I can't stand it and bark whenever it comes to get her! It'sso sad soemtimes I cry! I wish i could protect mommy from that horrid thing!

The good news is mommy always gives me a huge treat with peanut butter when sh gets home YUM! But I still don't like the big yellow "BUS" or whatever it's called, and don't understand why mommy let's it take her away so easily, or maybe she's brainwashed, or forced to get on! I'd better plan how to protect her, and how to kill all the big yellow buses!

I was sort of depressed about Heidi and all, so my mommy took me to the dark park. It was PACKED, and there were at least a dozen black labs. I was allowed off leash, it was the greatest thing invented since liver! I made two very specail friends, an Austiralian shepherd (toy) puppy, Sully, and a German Shepherd, Laya. Two of the black labs were being bullies, and made me cry, my mommy came running over to see what was wrong. The two of them ramming me in the middle like a sandwitch, they were fat and mean. I growled, shaking all over, and lunged for the nose of the younger one. He whimpered and ran off from my soft nip. The other grew angry, but I gave him my eye, and he ran away too. My mommy told me she was proud I stood up for myself. I also went swimming with my two best friends Laya and Sully. Sully didn't like water much, but still came in a little. But Laya and I went way in over our heads! It was so much fun!
I had a great day, and will always remember how much fun I had! ^_^
