Owwie!!!!!

I had to go to the doctor again this week. I was feeling fine when I went in, but now I hurt a bit. Mom says that I had to have this surgery so that I can be healthier and won't make any puppies that could end up in bad homes or - worse - just dumped by someone who doesn't care (like me and my brothers had been). I supposed she's right that it's for the best, but that doesn't make it feel any better. ::puppy pout::

And if THAT weren't enough, my TEETH are falling out, too! Mom and Dad found one of them and were just oohing and ahhhing over it, saying it was so cute. Then Dad gave me a big hug and said he was sorry for having gotten mad at me earlier about my chewing on stuff. I guess he finally figured out that I was doing it because my TEETH HURT!

One good thing that happened, though! My kitty-sister Piper came into the room with Mom and Tasha and me the other night, and actually STAYED around for a few minutes, even after she saw me. She still kinda hissed at me, so I backed off, but usually the second she spots me she takes off running. I don't know why, I've never done anything to her - I just want to be her friend. But maybe she's starting to get used to me.

I had to stay at the hospital overnight after my surgery, and Tasha was funny when I got home the next morning. She started sniffing me all over when I came in the door and kept sniffing me as Dad brought me into Mom's room so she could say "hi" to me. I think Tasha must have sniffed every inch of me two or three times before she was finally satisfied. Satisfied with what, who knows...

At any rate, it's been quite the week. Hopefully this week will be a lot calmer - unlike me, of course! I HATE being calm!

So... who's gonna play with me now? Huh!? Huh?! ::big wagging tail::

Well, for a while anyway, Mama says. I went to the vet again this week. The man there is really nice until he starts pulling out those needles! But Mama said that the shots I had this week will be the last I need for a while, unless I get sick or something - and the shots I've gotten are supposed to prevent that. Here's hoping!

The vet weighed me, too, and I'm over 20 pounds now! Mama and Daddy seem to be surprised, but they keep telling me how much I'm growing so I'm not sure why. Silly humans!

I think Tasha's starting to warm up to me *finally*. Last night when she hopped up on the bed, she actually kind of curled herself around me, which was really warm and nice! Maybe this not biting her so much thing is working.

Not sure what I'm supposed to do about Piper, though. Mama says cats are just strange creatures, but no matter how much I try to let Piper know that I'm just excited about wanting to get to know her better, all she does is making funny hissing sounds at me. All I wanna do is play! Maybe she's just some kind of a stick in the mud or something.

Speaking of sticks and mud... it's almost time for me to get to go run in the yard again - YIPPEE!!!!

I gave Mom and Dad quite a surprise today! I *finally* figured how to jump up on the ottoman all by myself! Up 'til now, Daddy had to put me up on it and a lot of time - especially when I was REALLY wanting to play with his hands - he'd forget I needed help. So today I tried extra hard and I MADE IT! I think he was really happy - but he was saying all these words I don't know, so I'm not sure. Meanwhile Mama was bragging that in the next week or so I'll probably be able to get up on the bed by myself, too! Then I'll be able to play with her hands, too, whenEVER I want!

Hi! I'm Xander!

I just got to come home with Mama and Daddy a few weeks ago, but I'm really enjoying my new home! I've got a really nice big sister named Tasha who occasionally plays with me and who tries to protect me if she thinks I'm in trouble. There's also this other odd creature who lives here. I think they call her Piper, but I've never seen anything like her. Well, at least I don't think I have - she usually won't stay in a room very long after I come in, and if I get too close to her, she makes a really funny noise. She kind of scares me, so I just bark at her a lot.

Anyway, I have a nice big place to run and play in, and a really comfy bed where I can snuggle with Mama, Daddy and Tasha when we sleep. I love to curl up right around the top of Mama's head, and sometimes she'll reach up and pet me. Mmmmm!

The only thing I don't like, though, is that they don't seem to understand that they only way I have to get to know this world is with my teeth, so they're always - and I mean ALWAYS - taking stuff from me :(

Well, I'm gonna go bark at Tasha some and see if I can get her to play with me!
