Last week I caught Mom throwing away all the broccoli in the fridge. This is the stuff she was trying to sneak into our food. Luckily it was only for a week. I guess she found a list of poisonous food for dogs and broccoli was on the list! Not only broccoli, but apples, corn on the cob and pond water... All the things I spit out when she tries to get me to eat them, except for the pond water. I don't know why but I kinda like it sometimes. I guess I eat apples in the yard sometimes too, so that's not her fault either.

I'll have to call her Mommy Dearest for a while... Just to bug her.

(I hope she doesn't feel too badly. We know she didn't mean to slowly poison us.)

I didn't mean to scare her, but I did not feel good. I hurt, and I didn't know what to do. Mommy wasn't home, but Daddy took me to emergency. I don't remember much except when I woke up the next day, I was in a strange place, and Mommy wasn't there. Now I know why.

I am incredibly sad today. I arrived home from Boston to find out East was in the hospital, and they don’t know what is wrong. I went to visit him tonight, and instead of his usual happy tail wagging self, he was lying motionless with i.v. tubes dangling about him. He didn’t even open his eyes when I called out his name and touched his face. A few minutes later, he lifted his head and looked at me with sad half opened eyes. He made the softest sound when I put my nose to his, then he got sick. East is the sweetest dog imaginable. His only existence in life is to love. (Okay, and to eat too).

Mommy tried something new today. She brushed my hair, but the thing looks and sounds different. It buzzed. She didn't talk much, but I do remember her saying, "Oops! That's an ugly bald spot."

What does that mean?

I love the pink boa Mommy and Aunt Brooke put on me. It was the greatest! It got us a lot of attention. Oh, so many women at this walk we were on! And they all loved the pink boa. They took pictures and rubbed my head. All day long! I want to wear it all the time, but Mommy put it away in a box called "Burning Man Costumes." What's Burning Man? Why does the pink boa go in there? If Burning Man is like this Dyke March mommy took us on, then I want to go to Burning Man!

See how cute we look in the photo with Mommy and Aunt Brooke?

Wow! Nobody told me they make such great cologne for dogs! Mommy loves it too. She always sniffs when I'm near her. Today, I gave her a special treat. I showed her where the secret stash is and how I put it on. There is this pile of old stuff at the bottom of the hill in our backyard. I think it got there from all the rain. It's filled with all sorts of goodies, including stuff that smells a little like when I go to the bathroom. Oh, it smells so nice! I dove my head in and rolled my head round and round in it. It was too small a hole for my body to fit! She looked so pleasantly surprised when she saw me, that I did it again for her. She even ran to me to give me more attention!
