Thank you to all my friends who remembere ... You have found a Ben's Bell. Here is a picture of the note. Well, Mawmee got very excited because she had just read about Ben's Bells in yesterday's newspaper! When Daddy came out of the store, Mawmee told him all about finding the bell. He thought it was very cool. Here is Mawmee holding the bell and standing next to the tree where she found it. You can read all about Ben's Bell Project on their website. Today is the 10th anniversary of little Ben's death. He was almost 3 years old. There is a Facebook page too. Ben's Bell will remind Mawmee of the kindness of strangers, and it will also remind her about how precious life is and how sad that Ben's family only had him for a short time. Ben still lives on through this special project. Over 24,000 bells have been distributed since 2002. Both Conner and I came here rather unexpectedly. He had been having some difficulty breathing and went to the vet for tests and fluids. When he got home, he took a turn for the worse, so his family made the difficult decision to send him to the bridge. My wings are so gorgeous and the beautiful blue sky, dove and sun background is so stunning, that it takes my lady's breath away. You picked a great picture to work with. What beautiful dogg ... Bonnie was discovered by her family in a shelter when she was about 2 years old. She made her journey to the bridge on February 20th at the young age of nine. Wisconsin Bonnie Blue was left in her empty home by her previous owner when they moved. Luckily, Oliver and Millie's Mommy rescued her, and she was able to live out her remaining time on earth being loved and given all the comforts a dog deserves. There was a very bea ... Ladies Room Group. There was a very beautiful grave marker with a photo of me at the Rainbow Bridge, and the saying, If only you could live forever. That saying is meaningful because my brother, Calvin, wrote that in a Six Word Story Contest he entered. He won an honorable mention Most Poignant for those 6 words. Mawmee cried when she read it and saw my picture. There were also five different types of flower bulbs for Mawmee to plant. They will remind her of my friends when she sees the beautiful blossoms. One of the flowers is a pink Lily and Mawmee will think of my special friend, Lily, when she sees the pink flower blooming in the garden! Another special gift was milkweed seeds from Guardian Angel Tifanny and Beach Angel Chelsea's Mommy's garden. The thing that makes these seeds so special is that they attract butterflies. When Mawmee sees those butterflies this summer, she will think about GA Tif and Cheli Bells! And there were photos of many of my friends, as you can see in this picture. Grandmaw said Stanley wasn't feeling good. Daddy took him to the vet, and it was determined that he had a large tumor in his spleen. The vet said the tumor could rupture, and if that happened, it would cause internal bleeding and a lot of pain for Stanley. Grandmaw, Mawmee, and Daddy decided it was best for Stanley to send him to the bridge. Daddy kissed Stanley and was with him when he quietly and peacefully left for the bridge. Grandmaw, Mawmee, and Daddy were so sad last night. Today Mawmee and Daddy spent most of the day at Grandmaw's house. I got to go too! That is when my big sister, Patoka went to the Rainbow Bridge. ... Patoka went to the Rainbow Bridge. She was only six years old. Mawmee and Daddy had gotten her when she was just a puppy. She was adorable, as you can imagine! Several weeks prior to her going to the bridge, she had eaten mushrooms in the backyard and had a seizure because the mushrooms were poisonous. We almost lost her then, but she got better. Then came that terrible night. Mawmee had gone out to dinner with a couple of girlfriends. Daddy was taking Patoka, Snowy (my other sister), and me for a walk. We came out of the garage on the driveway. The neighbor had a large dog who was supposed to be tied up, but they had him loose in the garage. The minute he saw us, he came running over and was growling and barking. We were all very scared. Patoka, being the oldest, felt like she needed to protect us from this big, scary dog. But she was just a gentle dog, and didn't know what to do. She went over in the grass and collapsed. The neighbor ran over to get her dog. Daddy tried to help Patoka. We think her heart must have been weakened from the mushroom poisoning. She was so scared of the neighbor's dog that she had a heart attack and died instantly. Daddy called Mawmee at the restaurant and told her to come home. She insisted that he tell her what happened because she knew it was something terrible. It was the worst day of their lives. It was the worst day of my life too. How can you look at that beautiful deer and want to kill it? I submitted the recipe to Maggie for the cookbook. I wanted to share it with my friends in my diary. These are yummy ~ you can call them biscuits or treats, but I like to call mine cookies! Enjoy. . . . . . . Love Cookies 1 cup uncooked oatmeal 1/3 cup margarine 1 teaspoon beef or chicken bouillon granules 1 1/2 cups hot water 3/4 cup powdered milk 3/4 cup cornmeal 1 egg, beaten 3 cups whole wheat flour In large bowl, pour hot water over oatmeal, margarine, and bouillon granules. Let stand 5 minutes. Stir in powdered milk, cornmeal, and egg. Add flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Knead 3-4 minutes, adding more flour if necessary to make a very stiff dough. Pat or roll dough (it rolls nicely!) to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into bone, heart, or other shapes. Place on a greased baking sheet (or ungreased baking stone). Bake in a 325-degree oven for approximately 50 minutes. Allow to cool.
