THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
AT RAINBOW BRIDGE

T'was the night before Christmas, at Rainbow Bridge ...

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
AT RAINBOW BRIDGE

T'was the night before Christmas, at Rainbow Bridge too.
We Bridge kids were thinking as always of you.
We'd seen how the holidays weren't bright this year,
Heard you whisper so often, "I wish you were here!"

We know how you wish you could just stay in bed
And sleep through the holiday lying ahead,
When all celebrate with their loved ones so near...
Unless they have loved ones on this side this year.

But we're no less alive here, on the other side.
If you could just see us, you would've laughed and not cried.
The dogs all in harness, pulling the sleigh.
The cats all in Santa hats pointing the way.

The pet birds all flying back over the rainbow,
Bound homeward in spite of Earth's darkness and snow.
All the pets that you've lost, pets for whom you've cried,
Flying home on this Christmas to be by your side.

If you feel warm fur brush you when no pet's around,
Hear a soft bark or purr, just a ghost of a sound,
We're trying to tell you we're visiting this way,
And our visits, even rainbows, can be on any day.

But for Christmas we have something special to do,
A sleigh full of happy dream visits for you.
On doggy, on kitty, on winged friend and ferret!
The love that you lavished, we mean now to share it!

We're fetching that love home, the way we once played,
With the closeness we shared and the memories we made.
Our Earth lives with you were too short for us, too,
And on this Christmas Eve we have so much to do.

So all through this night as you sleep in your beds,
Sweet visions of fur babies dance in your heads.
This one special night we can bring you Home for a while,
Your true home in Heaven, where again you will smile.

Over the rainbow you'll fly, for a short while this night,
Hours that you'll be happy, hours that will feel right,
Hours to cuddle and hug us, to run and to play,
Before the return to Earth in our magic way.

And when you awaken and face Christmas Day,
We pray you'll remember your trip on our sleigh,
But in case you forget, just remember our love.
Remember us watching you, your angels above.

Sending love wrapped in rainbows, shining and bright,
Love that will guide you through the darkest night,
Love found in each memory unwrapped through the year,
Replacing dark sorrows with Christmas cheer.

Leave the toys to St. Nick, we Bridge kids bring dreams,
Sweet visits to remind you all is not as it seems
When you look all around you with tired Earthly eyes.
If you saw as we do, there'd be joy and surprise.

There are fur angels waiting by those Christmas trees,
Always there for you and hearing your pleas.
We're never more than a thought away from your home,
You're never forgotten, you're never alone.

Nor are we alone here, with our Rainbow Bridge friends.
We know only joy here, the celebrating never ends,
And after our reunions with you Christmas Eve,
We Bridge kids will party like you'd never believe.

But we'll slip away often to be by your side.
Sitting there watching you, eyes open wide,
Praying you'll be able to catch a glimpse of us, too.
But whether or not you see us - Merry Christmas to you!

A CHRISTMAS STORY for animal lovers and those who may give an animal for Christamas

A CHRISTMAS STORY for animal lovers and those who may give an animal for Christamas :
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Figuring the dog was free and into the trash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the luster of midday to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Santa Claus - his eyes full of tears.
He unchained the dog, once so lively and quick,
Last years Christmas present, now thin and sick.
More rapid than eagles he called the dog's name.
And the dog ran to him, despite all his pain;
"Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Let's find this dog a home where he'll be loved by all"
I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year,
For Santa Claus had made one thing quite clear,
The gift of a dog is not just for the season,
We had gotten the pup for all the wrong reasons.
In our haste to think of giving the kids a gift
There was one important thing that we missed.
A dog should be family, and cared for the same!
You don't give a gift, then put it on a chain.
And I heard him exclaim as he rode out of sight,
"You weren't given a gift! You were given a life!"

TEN PEEVES THAT DOGS HAVE ABOUT HUMANS!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'1'
Blaming your farts on me.
Not funny -- not funny at all !!!

----------------------------------------------
'2'
Yelling at me for barking.
I'M A DAMN DOG.

--------------------------------------------------
'3'
Taking me for a walk, then not letting me check stuff out.
Exactly whose walk is this, anyway?

--------------------------------------------------
'4'
Any trick that involves balancing food on my nose.
Stop it!

--------------------------------------------------
'5'
Any haircut that involves bows or ribbons.
Now you know why we chew your stuff up when you're not home.

--------------------------------------------------
'6'
The sleight-of-hand, fake fetch-throw.
You fooled a dog! Whoooo hoooooooo!
What a proud moment for the top of the food chain.

--------------------------------------------------
'7'
Taking me to the vet for 'the big snip', then acting surprised when I freak out every time we go back!

--------------------------------------------------
'8'
Getting upset when I sniff the crotches of your guests.
Sorry, but I haven't quite mastered that handshake thing yet.

--------------------------------------------------
'9'
Dog sweaters.
Hello ??? Haven't you noticed the fur?
--------------------------------------------------
'10'
How you act disgusted when I lick myself.
Look, we both know the truth. You're just jealous.

--------------------------------------------------
Now lay off me on some of these things.
We both know who's boss here!
You don't see me picking up your poop, do you?

EVERY DOG HAS HIS DAY.
A DOG ALWAYS OFFERS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
CATS HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT!.........

If I Didn't Have a Dog...or Cat......or a parrot ..or a

  rabbit

I could walk around the yard barefoot

  in safety.

My house could be carpeted instead of

  tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing,

furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't

  sound like a kennel.

When the doorbell rings, I could get

to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me

  there.

I could sit on the couch and my bed

the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much

space several fur bodies would need to get

  comfortable.

I would have money, and no guilt to go

  on a real vacation.

I would not be on a first-name basis

with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn Grandkids

  through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary

would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave it

  ALONE.

My house would not be cordoned off

into zones with baby gates or barriers.

I would not talk 'baby talk'.

'Eat your din din'. 'Yummy yummy for the

  tummy'..

My house would not look like a day

  care center, toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things

like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to spell the

  words B-A-L-L,, W-A-L-K,,

T-R-E-A-T,, O-U-T,,

  G-O,, R-I-D-E,, C-O-O-K-I-E

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE

  my house as outside.

I would not look strangely at people

who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too

  much.

I'd look forward to spring and the

rainy season instead of dreading 'mud'

  season.

I would not have to answer the

question 'Why do you have so many animals?'

from people who will never have the

joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close

to an angel as they will ever get.

How EMPTY my life would

  be!!!

JUST MY DOG

He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds.

He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea.

He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being: by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him.

(I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.)

When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.

When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile.

When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.

When I am a fool, he ignores it.

When I succeed, he brags.

Without him, I am only another man.

With him, I am all-powerful.

He is loyalty itself.

He has taught me the meaning of devotion.

With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace.

He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant.

His head on my knee can heal my human hurts.

His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things.

He has promised to wait for me...whenever...wherever--in case I need him.

And I expect I will--as I always have.

He is just my dog.

Hi all my friends!
My mom when on the pet loss site to see who was there, and to see if anybody needed to talk about losing there furbabys! She meant a nice lady who just lost her beloved baby Mimee, it has only been two weeks since she came up to the bridge. Mom said she though it was neat because she has all her babys on dogster too, just like mom does. So mom got to see all her beautiful babys. Mom misses me so but she feels so bad when she sees someone who just lost a beloved baby like Mimee. She knows it has to be so hard for them. When you lose one of us it is like a part of your heart has been torn out, and it feels like it will never heal! Mom wishes the best for her and her familey, and knows it will not be easy, and the pain just seems to hang on. But mom says that knowing that I am no longer in pain, and that she did all she could for me makes it a little easyer. But her heart still aches, and she still looks for me, and sometimes she even thinks she hears me. But I am with her in her heart watching over her from the rainbow bridge. And now Mimee is up at the bridge watching over her mom and the rest of her family, keeping them safe!

Hi all my friends! I meet a new friend up hear named cupid, just one great dog! Her mom is missing her so, it has not been too long since she came up hear with me. My mom said it is just so hard when someone's furbaby has to come up hear to the bridge! Some days mom says she just does not know how she is going to make it through the day with out me! But I tell her that Im there with her in her heart, watching over her and my sister's. But it still is not easy and I miss her so. This is the time of year when we would get to start swimming in the lake again, and oh how I loved to swim in the lake with my sister dogs Shelby and Gizmo. I know mom walked them over to the lake the other day, and boy did they look like they were having a great time. I could see mom sitting on the bench, tossing the flying squrrill out to them that Gizmo got for her birthday. I could tell Gizmo really liked it too! But I could see mom was missing me while she was playing with them. Gizmo came out of the water and shock all the water off of her on mom, and I saw mom laugh as she got all wet and it was good to see her do that! I know she has my sister's but she still misses me so, I wish there was something I could do to make her feel better. But it looked like Gizmo and Shelby were doing a good job of making her smile, Im glad she has them! Well bye for now all my friends. And take care of yourselfs. Have a dog gone good day!!!
A DOG IS FOR LIFE - NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS!
Twas the nite before Xmas when all thru the house
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse
the stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that St. Nick soon would be there

The children all nestled all snug in their beds
With No thought of the dog filling their head
And mamma in her kerchief and I in my cap
Knew the dog was cold, but didn't care about that

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Figuring the dog was free of his chain and into the trash

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
gave the luster of mid-day to objects below
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But Santa Clause with eyes full of tears

He unchained the dog once so lively and quick
Last years Xmas present now painfully sick
More rapid than eagles he called the dogs name
and the dog ran to him despite all his pain.

Now Dasher, now Dancer, now Prancer and Vixen
On Comet on Cupid on Donner and Blitzen
To the top of the porch to the top of the wall
Let's find this dog a home where he will be loved by all.

I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year
For Santa had made one thing quite clear
The gift of a dog is not just for the season
We had gotten the dog for all the wrong reasons

In our haste to think of the kids a gift
There was one important thing we missed
A dog should be family, and cared for the same
You don't give a Gift, then put it on a chain

And I heard him explain as he rode out of site
YOU WEREN'T GIVEN A GIFT
YOU WERE GIVEN A LIFE!

1- My life lasts between ten to fifteen years. Every separation from
you means suffering for me. Think about this before you decide whether
or not to take me!
2- Give me time to understand what you are asking from me.
3- Instill confidence in me - I thrive on it!
4- Do not be angry with me for a long time and do not lock me up for
punishment! You have your work, your pleasure, your joy - I have only
you.
5- Talk often to me! Even if I do not understand you completely, I do
understand the tone of your voice when you talk to me.
6- Know that, no matter how I am being treated, I shall
never forget
it!
7- Keep in mind, before you hit me , that my jaws could crush the
knuckles of your hand with ease, but that I do not make use of them.
8- Before you scold me when working with me, consider: perhaps I am
uncomfortable from digesting my last meal;
perhaps I was exposed to the sun too long; or perhaps I have a wornout
heart.
9- Take care of me when I am old -- you too are going to be old one
day.
10- Be with me when my going gets rough. Everything is easier for me
when you are beside me.

A Dogs purpose by a six year old boy

This explains why.... . . . .

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old
Irish wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa,
and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they
were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the
family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform
the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would
be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt
Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's
family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for
the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on.
Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any
difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's
death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are
shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly,
piped up, 'I know why.'

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next
stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good
life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?' The
six-year-old continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do that, so
they don't have to stay as long.'

Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure
ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.

Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle
them gently.

Being always grateful for each new day and for the blessing of you.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY

*Excerpts from a Cat's Daily Diary:

Day 683 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the floor.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. The audacity!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow - but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.
The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe…. for now.

And God Created Dog and Cat

A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to 'Where do pets come from?'

Adam said, 'Lord, when I was in the garden, you walked with me every day. Now I do not see you any more. I am lonesome here and it is difficult for me to remember how much you love me. And God said 'No problem. I will create a companion for you that will be with you forever and who will be a reflection of my love for you so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourself.'

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam. And it was a good animal. And God was pleased. And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and it wagged its tail.

And Adam said, 'Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal.'

And God said, 'No problem. Because I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him Dog.'

And Dog lived with Adam and was a companion to him and loved him. And Adam was comforted. And God was pleased. And Dog was content and wagged his tail.

After a while, it came to pass that Adam's guardian angel came to the Lord and said, 'Lord, Adam has become filled with pride. He struts and preens like a peacock and he believes he is worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught him that he is loved, but perhaps too well.'

And the Lord said, 'No problem. I will create for him a companion who will be with him forever and who will see him as he is. The companion will remind him of his limitations, so he will know that he is not always worthy of adoration.'

And God created Cat to be a companion to Adam. And Cat would not obey Adam. And when Adam gazed into Cat's eyes, he was reminded that he was not the Supreme Being. And Adam learned humility.

And God was pleased. And Adam was greatly improved. And Dog was happy.

And Cat didn't care one way or the other.

Twas the night befor Christmas

"Tis the day before Christmas,
And all through the house,
The puppies are squeaking an old rubber mouse.
The wreath which had merrily hung on the door,
Is scattered in pieces all over the floor.

The stockings that hung in a neat little row,
Now boast a hole in each of it's toes.
The tree was subjected to bright-eye whims,
And now, although splendid, it's missing some limbs.

I catch them and hold them,"Be good I insist!"
They lick me, then run off to see what they've missed.
And now as I watch them, the thought comes to me,
That theirs is the spirit that Christmas should be.

Should children and puppies yet show us the way,
And teach us the joy that should come with this day?
Could they bring the messege that's written above,
And tell us that. most of all, Christmas is love!

When I am old...

I will wear soft gray sweatshirts. ..
and a bandana over my silver hair...
and I will spend my social security checks on wine and my dogs.
I will sit in my house on my well-worn chair
and listen to my dogs breathing.

I will sneak out in the middle of a warm summer night
and take my dogs for a run, if my old bones will allow...

When people come to call, I will smile and nod
as I show them my dogs...
and talk of them and about them...
...the ones so beloved of the past
and the ones so beloved of today...

I will still work hard cleaning after them,
mopping and feeding them and whispering their names
in a soft loving way. I will wear the gleaming sweat on my throat,
like a jewel, and I will be an embarrassment to all...
especially my family...
who have not yet found the peace in being free
to have dogs as your best friends...

These friends who always wait, at any hour, for your footfall...
and eagerly jump to their feet out of a sound sleep,
to greet you as if you are a God,
with warm eyes full of adoring love and hope
that you will always stay;

I'll hug their big strong necks...
I'll kiss their dear sweet heads...
and whisper in their very special company....

I look in the mirror... and see I am getting old....
this is the kind of person I am...
and have always been.

Loving dogs is easy, they are part of me.
Please accept me for who I am.
My dogs appreciate my presence in their lives...
they love my presence in their lives...

When I am old this will be important to me...

You will understand when you are old,
if you have dogs to love too.

Dog Owner's Prayer

O Lord don't let me once forget
how I love my trusty pet.

Help me learn to disregard
canine craters in my yard.

Show me how to be a buddy
even when my sofa's muddy.

Don't allow my pooch to munch
postal carriers for lunch.

Shield my neighbor's cat from view—
guide my steps around the doo.

Train me not to curse and scowl
when it's puppy's night to howl.

Grant I shan't awake in fear
with a cold nose in my ear.

Give me patience without end—
Help me be 'A Dog's Best Friend'!

A Letter From Your Pet in Heaven

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from the Bridge.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here there's no more tears of sadness
Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said, "I welcome you. It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family,
They'll be here later on."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you ... in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years,
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night ... "My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented ... that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along I made somebody smile.
God says: "If you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street with me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind."
"And when it's time for you to go ... from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going ...
you're coming here to me."

He is my other eyes that see above the clouds
My ears that hear above the winds
He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea
He has told me that I am his reason for being
By the way ,he rest against my leg
By the way, he thumps his tail at my smallest smile
When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile
When I am happy, he is joy unbounded
When I am a fool, he ignores it
When I succeed, he even brags
Without him ,I am only a another person
With Him I am all powerful
He has taught me the meaning of devotion
He is loyalty itself
With him, I know a secret comfort and peace
He has promised to wait for me, whenever where ever
I will always need him as much as he needs me

CAT'S DIARY

  Day 483 of my captivity...

My captors continued to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal.

The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the

mild satisfaction that I get from clawing their furniture.

Tomorrow I will eat another houseplant.

Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet

while they were walking almost succeeded - must try this at the top

of the stairs.

In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once

again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair. I must remember

to try this on their bed.

Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt

to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear

in their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good

little cat I was. Hmmm, that did not work according to plan...

There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed

in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and

smell the food. More importantly, I overheard that my confinement was

due to my powers of inducing "allergies." I must learn what this is

and how I may use it to my advantage.

I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches.

The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is

obviously a half-wit.

The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an informant and speaks

with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his

current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured.

But I have patience, I can wait, it is only a matter of time...

Hi today is a very sad day for me, and my sister dogs, and my sister cat Coco mocha! Our Good friend Teddy had to take the trip to the bridge! We know he is no longer in pain, and feels like a young pup again. But we feel for his mom, because we know how she felt when she had to help me come up to the bridge. It is one of the hardest things I think my mom has ever had to do. And Teddys mom is such a good person, and she helps all these poor furbabys that no one else would every help, or give them a forever home , knowing how sick they are. She is one great person, and we are so proud to know her!! We just wish there were more people out there like her. As she knows even a puppy who does not have long to live, can give you so much back in return! They deserve to have a forever home to befor they come up to the bridge, and Teddys mom has made that happen for so many pups. We will miss you Teddy, but I will be up hear with you at the bridge, waiting for the day when our moms come to be with us forever! Love Cory

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

When it's in your best interest, always practice obedience.

Let others know when they've invaded your territory.

Take naps and always stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

equal opportunity employer

A local business was looking for office help. They put a sign in the window saying:

"HELP WANTED. Must be able to type, must be good with a computer and must be bilingual. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer."

A short time afterwards, a dog trotted up to the window, saw the sign and
went inside. He looked at the receptionist and wagged his tail, then walked over to the sign, looked at it and whined.

Getting the idea, the receptionist got the office manager. The office manager looked at the dog and was surprised, to say the least. However,
the dog looked determined, so he led him into the office. Inside, the dog
jumped up on the chair and stared at the manager.

The manager said, "I can't hire you. The sign says you have to be able to
type."

The dog jumped down, went to the typewriter and proceeded to type out a perfect letter. He took out the page and trotted over to the manager and
gave it to him, then jumped back on the chair.

The manager was stunned, but then told the dog, "The sign says you have to be good with a computer."

The dog jumped down again and went to the computer. The dog proceeded to demonstrate his expertise with various programs and produced a sample spreadsheet and database and presented them to the manager.

By this time the manager was totally dumbfounded! He looked at the dog and said, "I realize that you are a very intelligent dog and have some
interesting abilities. However, I still can't give you the job."

The dog jumped down and went to a copy of the sign and put his paw on the part about being an Equal Opportunity Employer.

The manager said, "Yes, but the sign also says that you have to be bilingual."

The dog looked at him straight in the face and said, "Meow."

He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead

for years.

He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of

the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was

broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.

When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch

that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate

looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he

got closer, he saw a man at a desk

to one side.

When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me,

where are we?"

"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.

"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man

asked.

"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water

brought right up."

The man gestured, and the gate began to open.

"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the

traveler asked.

"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road

and continued the way he had been going with his dog.

After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came

to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had

never been closed. There was no

fence.

As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning

against a tree and reading a book.

"Excuse me!" he called to the man.

"Do you have any water?"

"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come

on in."

"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the

dog.

"There should be a bowl by the pump."

They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned

hand pump with a bowl beside it.

The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long

drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.

When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was

standing by the tree.

"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.

"This is Heaven," he answered.

"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road

said that was Heaven, too."

"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates?

Nope. That's hell."

"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your

name like that?"

"No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks

who would leave their best friends behind."

Sooooooooooooo.........You are all welcome @ my water bowl any time.

HOW DOGS CAME TO BE

A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to "Where do pets come from?"

Adam and Eve said, "Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us."

And God said, I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves."

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve.

And it was a good animal.

And God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail.
And Adam said, "Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal."

And God said, " I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him
DOG."

And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them.

And they were comforted.

And God was pleased.

And Dog was content and wagged his tail.

After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well."

And God said, I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration."

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.

And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.

And Adam and Eve learned humility.

And they were greatly improved.

And God was pleased

And Dog was happy.

And Cat didn't give a POOP one way or the other.

LEASH: A strap which attaches to your collar, enabling you to lead your person where you want him/her to go.

DOG BED: any soft, clean surface, such as the white bedspread in the guest room or the newly upholstered couch in the living room.

DROOL: Is what you do when your persons have food and you don't. To do this properly you must sit as close as you can and look sad and let the drool fall to the floor, or better yet, on their laps.

SNIFF: A social custom to use when you greet other dogs. Place your nose as close as you can to the other dog's rear end and inhale deeply, repeat several times, or until your person makes you stop.

GARBAGE CAN: A container which your neighbors put out once a week to test your ingenuity. You must stand on your hind legs and try to push the lid off with your nose. If you do it right you are rewarded with margarine wrappers to shred, beef bones to consume and moldy crusts of bread.

BICYCLES: Two-wheeled exercise machines, invented for dogs to control body fat. To get maximum aerobic benefit, you must hide behind a bush and dash out, bark loudly and run alongside for a few yards; the person then swerves and falls into the bushes, and you prance away.

DEAFNESS: This is a malady which affects dogs when their person want them in and they want to stay out. Symptoms include staring blankly at the person, then running in the opposite direction, or lying down.

THUNDER: This is a signal that the world is coming to an end. Humans remain amazingly calm during thunderstorms, so it is necessary to warn them of the danger by trembling uncontrollably, panting, rolling your eyes wildly, and following at their heels.

WASTEBASKET: This is a dog toy filled with paper, envelopes, and old candy wrapper. When you get bored, turn over the basket and strew the papers all over the house until your person comes home

SOFAS: Are to dogs like napkins are to people. After eating it is polite to run up and down the front of the sofa and wipe your whiskers clean.

BATH: This is a process by which the humans drench the floor, walls and themselves. You can help by shaking vigorously and frequently.

LEAN: Every good dogs's response to the command "sit !", especially if your person is dressed for an evening out. Incredibly effective before black-tie events.

BUMP: The best way to get your human's attention when they are drinking a fresh cup of coffee or tea.

GOOSE BUMP: A maneuver to use as a last resort when the Regular Bump doesn't get the attention you require.....especially effective when combined with The Sniff. See above.

LOVE: Is a feeling of intense affection, given freely and without restriction. The best way you can show your love is to wag your tail. If you're lucky, a human will love you in return

Oh my Cory Hi !
I miss you so much, my heart still aches so! I still think I hear your soft bark letting me know I need to take you for a walk. And when I take Gizmo and Shelby over to the lake for a swim, I always sit there and think of you as I throw the ball into the water for them to bring back. It just not the same with out you hear, I still just can not believe you are really gone! Your sister Shelby is like me, and still looking for you! She still is not to fond of Gizmo, I guess she just really misses you, and all the fun we all had together! I know you are no longer in pain up there, and that you are looking down on me, and keeping us safe. But I still miss you!I wish I could have done more for you, I wish I could have kept you with me, but only if your were healthy! Tell God to give you a good tummy rub for me, I know how much you loved them. And maybe some of the angels can throw you some balls and frizzebes too! I know there must be a big beautifull lake up there for you to go swimming in, like you loved to do hear on earth! And ask God if you can sleep with him ever so offten, tell him you always made me feel so safe, and like all things were right in this world! So if God is having a bad day, with all that is going on down hear, and needs a smile on his face, tell him to give you a call, I know you with all you tricks, and how you can be so loveable will surely put a smile on his face!
An Open Letter to My Pets (Author Unknown)

Dear Dogs and Cats, The dishes with the paw print are yours and
contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please
note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not
stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that
aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack.
Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't
help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very
sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to
ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when
they sleep. It is ! not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other
stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking
tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to
maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom.
If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it
is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your
paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through
the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years
--canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or
cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message
on our front door:

All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About Our Pets:
        1. They live here. You don't.
        2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the
furniture.
(That's why they call it "fur"nature.)
        3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
        4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted
son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak
clearly.

Remember: Dogs and cats are better than kids because they:
        1. Eat less
        2. Don't ask for money all the time
        3. Are easier to train
        4. Usually come when called
        5. Never drive your car
        6. Don't hang out with drug-using friends
        7. Don't smoke or drink
        8. Don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions
        9. Don't wear your clothes
        10. Don't need a gazillion dollars for college, and
        11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children

I was sent this in my email I do not know who wrote it but it made me think of my Cory so Much! What she meant to me, what she gave to, how she was always there no matter what! I miss her so bad, and any body who has a dog , and knows the love they give us, know they are not (Just A Dog !) I hope you like it Terry Corys Mom!

We folk who have, "just a dog," will appreciate this piece that I found in my mail this morning. I read it to my two, "Just Dogs," and they were dancing with joy. Oh, they didn't understand it, but just me talking to them gave us all complete joy. I LOVE my two Aussie's.....and they in return give nothing less than, total devotion. (sob)

From time to time, people tell me, lighten up, it's "just a dog," or, that's a lot of money for "just a dog." They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog." Some of my proudest moments have come about with, "just a dog." Many hours have passed and my only company was, "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted.

Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by, "just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of, "just a dog," gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think, it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand phases like, just a friend, just a sunrise, or just a promise. "just a dog," brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy.

"just a dog," brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of, "just a dog," I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not, "just a dog," but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.

"just a dog," brings out what's good in me, and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it's not, "just a dog," but the thing that gives me humanity, and keeps me from being, just a man. So the next time you hear the phrase, "just a dog," just smile, because they just don't understand.

I'M STILL HERE

I stood beside your bed last night
I came to have a peek
I could see that you were crying
You found it hard to sleep

I whined to you softly
As you brushed away a tear
"It's me, I haven't left you,
I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast
I watched you pour the tea
You were thinking of the many times
Your hands reached down to me

I was with you at the shops today
Your arms were getting sore
I longed to take your parcels
I wish I could do more

I was with you at my grave today
You tend it with such care
I want to reassure you
That I'm not lying there

I walked with you toward the house
As you fumbled for your key
I gently put my paw on you
I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired
And sank into a chair
I tried so hard to let you know
That I was standing there

It's possible for me to be
So near you everyday
To say to you with certainty
"I never went away."

You sat there very quietly
Then you smiled, I think you knew
In the stillness of that evening
I was very close to you.

The day is over...
I smile and watch you yawning
And say "Good night, God bless,
I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right
For you to cross the brief divide
I'll rush across to greet you
And we'll stand side by side

I have so many things to show you
There is so much for you to see
Be patient, live your journey out
And then come home to be with me

Dear Dogs and Cats,

When I say move, it means go someplace else, not switch positions with each other so there are still two of you in the way.

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack.Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help, because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king size bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of dogs and cats sleeping, they can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking
tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space used is nothing but sarcasm.

My compact discs are not miniature Frisbees.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, try to turn the knob, or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. In addition, I have been using bathrooms for years, canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog's butt. I cannot stress this enough. It would be such a simple change for you.

To pacify you I have posted the following message on our front door:

Rules for Non-Pet Owners Who Visit and Like to Complain About Our Pets:

1. They live here. You don't.

2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the
furniture.

3. I like my pet a lot better than I like most people.

4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.

5. Dogs and cats are better than kids. They eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about buying the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, don't

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
and pain does keep me from my sleep,
then will you do what must be done
for this-the last battle-can't be won.

You will be sad; I understand
but don't let grief then stay your hand.
For on this day, more than the rest
your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years;
you wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me to where my needs they'll tend,
only, stay with me until the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me
until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree
it is a kindness you do for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
from pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must now be you
who has to decide this thing to do.
We've been so close-we two-these years,
don't let your heart hold any tears.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
