Well, after being outside ALL afternoon today cuz Mom was home, we all came inside for supper. After we ate Mom put us all outside again for a few minutes.
Well, in those 7 or 8 minutes that silly Darrell dug his way out of the back fence again. He claims it was because it was raining and the ground was soft??? Of course, I followed him again...I needed to keep an eye on him and let Mom know where he went.
We went up the hill next door and decided to stop at the vets. Because two of them were outside taking a break, Darrell chose those two to visit. They IMMEDIATELY grabbed him and put him in a car! Then, they tried to catch ME. I have NEVER been there except once when I needed a baby tooth pulled. It HURT and I will never forget they did that to me, so there was NO WAY I was gonna let them catch me!!!
One of them drove Darrell home and the other one chased ME home. I ran out back and disappeared. They found Mom and told her I was out loose somewhere. She was all relaxed and calm... she told them she knew EXACTLY where I was and I was safe.
So, Mom took Darrell into the house and then came down to the lab pen to find me. SURPRISE, I wasn't IN the lab pen. Slightly worried now, Mom walked all around the house and still didn't find me.
So, she decided to bring all the house dogs inside and bring Toto out to help find me. She opened the door to let everyone in and...IN I CAME!!!
Mom wasn't surprised to find I had climbed back up the six foot stone wall and gone back thru Darrell's hole in the fence and I was right where I was supposed to be!!
I am SUCH a good boy.

Friday morning that dumb Darrell broke the fence right off the wall and escaped. It was really dumb cuz it was the very first day Mom left him outside with all of us. Fortunately, he spied one of the daycare dogs and followed her right into the kennel, silly dog!
Well, Mom fixed the fence after work on Saturday and was SURE he couldn't escape again. Sunday morning, she put us all out and was enjoying her morning coffee before she went to work.
She glanced out the window and spied ME, her former escape artist extraordinaire, racing by the kitchen window. Of course, she headed right outside, in her bare feet, no less, and ran down in the back yard to catch us. Yes, she assumed Darrell had led me astray! Not seeing either one of us, she headed home to get her jacket and shoes and discovered Darrell rounding the end of the front porch. She called him, he knew he was found so he came instantly.
After getting bundled up, Mom returned outside to find me. She called and called and called. Since Darrell was over by the road she went that way, assuming I would have followed him. Nope, she didn't find me, so back to the lower yard she went. '
This time she decided to use her head and follow the tracks thru the frost on the lawn. Those led her right over to the bottom gate on the lab pen. She glanced inside the pen and, low and behold, there I was playing with some toys I found in there. The minute I saw her I came racing over and jumped into her arms!
Mom said she should have thought about it before she panicked... every time I used to escape from that lab pen I just stayed right outside the fence and came right back in when she called me. I guess it only made sense that when I found myself outside, I would head right back into the security of MY pen. I am such a good boy!!!!

Today was MY day to go to work with Momsie and get my Christmas photo done. I was soo excited! I went along with Crystal and Harvey. Both of them had to get haircuts but I was already trimmed and clean so I just sat around until finally, Tonya and Mom decided it was time.
Mom hangs a background drape on the wall behind the grooming table, then drapes it over the table. They tape it to the wall with super duct tape. Usually works great!
Well, Tonya forgot I am TRAINED to be a show poodle and I know grooming tables... I know grooming tables from the top to the bottom!!! I can spend HOURS just hanging out on a grooming table.
Anyway, Tonya put me on the table, plunked a Christmas hat upon my head and forgot to tell me to stay!!! I was wiggling all over the place and suddenly, I backed up to the edge of the table. Of course, I stepped off onto the drape, which was NOT on the table and, next thing I knew, I was lying on the floor, COMPLETELY rolled up in that silly drape!!!
Apparently, as I stepped back, it pulled it off the wall (STUPID duct tape didn't stick!!!) and, as it fell, it rolled me right up in the middle of it!!!
Poor Tonya was shocked... she couldn't find me anywhere and assumed I had jumped off the table. Mom saw the whole thing, but she was laughing so hard she couldn't tell Tonya where I was! Nice Mom, huh???
Finally, Tonya picked up the end of the drape and OUT I ROLLED!!!!
After that experience, I just sat in one spot while they dressed me and photographed me as much as they wanted to.... I was NOT MOVIN'!!!!!

Did you notice it has been since JUNE that I have NOT had a diary entry?? I guess Momsie finally noticed that little fact, too. Tonight she said it was time for ME to help her write one, BOL!
I did have a GREAT Summer. Julia was here almost every weekend and she LOVES me! In fact, just yesterday she took me along when they went to meet Lola's NM. I had a great time being the only dog.
And, all Summer she let ME nap with her. That is fun, too. But, best of all, it was a great Summer with almost NO rain so we got to stay outside ALL DAY, EVERY DAY! I could chase chickies, rest in the shade, sunbathe, play with my toys, and all kinds of cool stuff. I even got invited to go kayaking a couple of times.
But, all good things must end and it is Fall now, and it's been raining for 40 days and 40 nights so our nice yard is all muddy. Mom lets us go outside for only a tiny bit of time cuz she hates all the mud we bring inside. Just cuz I need to jump into her arms and dry off my feet, I guess she doesn't like it!
Anyway, we get to hang out for a few hours before bed but, suddenly, tonight Lola is here and she is pregnant and she smells really, really good to me and I can't seem to leave her alone. Momsie was mad and made me go in my crate! Doesn't seem fair to me.
Oh well, only FIVE more days until the weekend and Julia!!!

Today is my birthday!! Mom took me along to work and I was expecting great things over there.
What happened, well, what happened was that Tonya gave me a bath and Mom gave me a haircut. Some birthday pawty!!!!
Worse was that Mom remembered AFTER their lunch that she was going to let me have lunch with them...where was I??? Sitting in my crate in the grooming room!!!
Sooo, I CRIED, I cried real tears, even. And, it worked! Mom and Tonya took me to the break room and Mom gave me some leftovers from her lunch. And, I got to sit at the table for the rest of the day!!!
Crying works!

Hey, I got invited to the camping trip, too. It was tons of fun. I got to run and play, eat the cookout food, chase Toto's chickens and eat S'Mores around the campfire.
The problem, for me, was when we went to bed. I listened carefully while Julia gave us the instructions, but I guess I missed the part about not lifting my leg on anything. Oops!
Anyway, I snuggled down with everyone, but Cryssie kept wanting to play with me. Then, Hilda got mad cuz I got too close to Julia, then Barney took offense when I got on Mom's neck. Finally, I went into the porch room of the tent. Harvey joined me. Mom had put some empty garbage bags in there when she took the sleeping bags out of them.
Sadly, she was watching when I marked them as mine. Harvey marked one for himself, too. Pretty soon, Hilda started chasing Crystal around the tent and the walls were even moving. Next thing I knew, me and Harvey and Crystal and Hilda and Barney were heading home to sleep.
Frankly, I suspect I wouldn't have slept so well in that tent with everyone. I could tell right away on Sunday morning that Mom hadn't slept too well, either, BOL !!!

Today Julie came over and got both me and Zena. Would you believe Julie wrapped me up in a towel to carry me over there?? I assumed it was because it was raining really hard and she didn't want me to get wet.
When I got there, Mom informed me that the towel was because I was so nasty dirty!! Not MY fault! Saturday I ate some baby maple trees that were growing in our pen. I ate LOTS of them cuz there were LOTS of them growing there. Well, apparently, they aren't for eating and they gave me a terrible stomach ache. In fact, I was puking and pooping ALL NIGHT LONG!!! When Mom came in to let me out she didn't even want to touch me, either!
Anyway, Tonya gave me a nice tubby and blow dry, then Momsie got out the clippers and shaved me body. I HATE when ANYONE shaves me... it tickles and when I jump, those blades dig right into my soft, puppy skin! I was scratched and bleeding all over the place!! Mom did put some medicine on me before she finished my groom, so when I was done all the red stuff was GONE!
Mom gives us a modified Continental... she cuts the mane and saddle shorter and leaves our topknot short enough to keep out of our eyes. I LIKE it... it is much cooler on the short parts and I can run thru the long grass without getting all drippy and wet. Besides, I am SOOO cute with my hair like that, BOL!!!
Now I am all ready for our guests this weekend. Last year I had to stay in the kennel cuz I had my "show hair". Not now, I have my hair show, hehehe!

Well, it has come down to give and take. And, no, I don't mean I get to give AND take, hehehe! Mother has decided that since the lab pen is SOOO big and nice that we can share it with the chickens. Seems fair to me, I guess.
During the day I have agreed to not dig any holes nor chase any chickens. The chickens have agreed to stay inside their small pen and not tease us dogs by flapping their wings and jumping into the air.
In exhange, us dogs have agreed to let the baby chickens AND the old hens go down into the lab pen for two hours every evening while we stay in the house and bug Mom. IF it is one of the days when Mom is home then we can still go down into the lab pen but ONLY if Mom goes with us AND the chickens are shut into their upper pen.
So far, so good.
Besides, Mom reminded me that once it gets really hot NONE of us dogs want to stay outside all day anyway, we much prefer the comfort of the AC in the house.
Mom says pretty soon those babies will be full grown and then she won't worry about us dogs or the wild cats attacking them and eating them. She thinks TWO of those Guineas are roosters and if they are, they will certainly protect the pullets and hens, hehehe!!

Uh oh, it gets way worse. Yesterday it was a nice, sunny, cool day so Mom left us out. She shut the main gate so we were only in the part up near the kitchen.
Well, of course that did NOT suit me at all, so I dug a tiny hole under the gate and found myself in the bigger pen. It was okay, but a bit boring since no one else EVER follows me thru the holes I dig. I noticed those chickens wandering around beside MY pen so I decided to dig a small hole into their pen and visit with them a bit.
The two old hens weren't too socialable, but the little ones were okay so I decided to play chase with them. I ran and ran and ran and finally, got myself a Guinea keet. After I played with him for a while he was kind of soft and limp so I chased some more of them.
Could I help it that some of them ran thru MY holes and ended up over with Toto and he ATE them??? Now, really, is that MY fault???
Mother was pretty mad, however, and she blamed ME, not Toto. Harumph! Worse yet, she locked us in our crates today. It is a BEAUTIFUL day outside and those remaining chickens are calling MY name!!!

Uh oh. Mom put TWELVE baby chickens out with MY hens. They are pretty gosh darn cute. They will be all walking along, suddenly one will jump straight up into the air and then they all get scared and rush all around.
Toto and Ali are pretty obsessed with them, they run along the fence constantly trying to convince the babies to try to get out or something. Me and Crystal like them, but we are not obsessed...we go to one place in the pen and let Toto and Ali drive them over to us!
Mom was pretty unhappy, but after two days the baby chicks don't even pay any attention to us at all.
At least they didn't until today, BOL! Mom was putting new chicken wire along the chain link pen they are in so she could have our expens back since we like those in the Summer. Well, as everyone knows, I am an expert at escaping from pens, so I dug under the gate and decided to help Mom.
Everything was going along fine...Mom was about half way around the pen when, for some reason, she decided to let the babies and the two hens go down in the lab pen. She opened their cut out door and away they went. They all went over to our big gate so I went along over to watch them. Mom was watching, too.
Suddenly, one brave pullet went THRU the fence gate (that is NOT a chicken safe gate!!) Well, it ran right over to me so I decided to catch it. I reached out and grabbed it, and, darn it all, I missed. The pullet started squawking horribly so ALL the others were upset and the other dogs, over in the other pen, were also having a fit. Mom was having a fit, too!!! She dropped the roll of fence and rushed over to rescue the pullet. Well, meanwhile, I grabbed it again, so she YELLED, "DROP IT!!!" at me. I did, but it was sort of like Beanie and Joey the cat... I was left with a mouthful of feathers, hehehe!
Mother was NOT amused. In fact, I was instantly banished to my crate until the fence was finished and the chickies were all back inside it! That woman has NO sense of humor at all!!!

If you read some of my families diaries, you may know that Mom bought me some hens. They are pretty neat...they make nice clucky noises and they dig TONS of holes, just like me!
Speaking of holes, the very first night they were here I had to dig into their pen and check them out. For some reason they were really scared of me and they crawled way, way under Crystal's dogloo house. I wasn't interested in bothering them, I was only interested in eating their food, BOL! They have a HUGE dish of the greatest ground up food. It sort of reminds me of our old dog food, tastes like corn, hehehe!
Anyway, when Mom discovered me in their pen she threw a hissy fit!!!! She carried me into the house and put me right into my crate. That was because she didn't know where those hens were hiding, I think. I suspect she thought I ate them, now really, they outweigh me two to one!
When she finally discovered them hiding under that doghouse, she realized they weren't even wounded at all. Hrumph!!!
She spent all the next day burying chicken wire under the fence... it would take a woodchuck to dig under there now!
Fast forward to today...Mom was out doing something in the hen house. I couldn't quite see what she was up to, so I dug a tunnel under the gate between our two pens since she had shut that one to keep us from helping her. Next thing Momsie saw was me helping myself to some hen food. That stuff grows on you! Mom was gonna yell at me for digging into their pen but when she turned around she discovered she had left their gate open, silly Mom!
She discovered that those hens are no longer afraid of me, so she actually let me stay in there with them until she was finished working. Would you believe I discovered something even better than hen food????
Yup...those hen poops are SOOOOO TASTY!

Hmmmm, after pretty much bare ground since way, way back in October and the Halloween blizzard, it finally snowed all day long on Thursday. It was soo great to go out and run thru it Thursday night... it was light and fluffy and there was about 10 or more inches of it.
Friday was good, too...the snow stayed light and fluffy, but Mom worked ALL day so we didn't get in any play time. Friday night when we had last outs it was snowing again so I had high hopes for today.
But, alas, in the Winter of Summer, the snow turned to rain and the temperature went up and up and up all morning. By the time Mom got out of work there was only about 6 inches of wet, drippy, sloppy, soupy snow left.
Fortunately, she did take us down to the lab pen and, best of all, she even gave us a bunch of those colored balls with the faces on them. PERFECT!!
I ran and ran and jumped and leaped and flew thru what little snow there was. What a GREAT TIME I had...I was wet and cold and it was great! No snowballs stuck to me cuz Mom gave me a haircut this week, but what hair I have left was all wet!
Now I am hoping there will still be enough snow left for me to run thru tomorrow when Mom gets out of work. It is just freezing now, so maybe it will stick around until then. I sure hope so!!!

Well, Thursday we finally got some snow. It was even light and fluffy but Mom doesn't get out of work until dark so we couldn't go play in it until today.
Of course, being the Winter that wasn't, it rained and got really warm on Friday and melted lots of the snow. Then, to make it even worse, it got FREEZING cold and turned that snow into crust.
I could sort of walk on the crust but if I started running I would break thru. It was kind of cool cuz I was chasing Crystal and she was sinking thru the crust so I was gaining on her a bit.
But, after a while, both Cryssie and Toto smashed all the crust so I had no more benefits to my small stature.
Speaking of small, while Zena is TINY, she is still a bit taller and quite a bit longer than me. Soo, even though she only weighs FOUR pounds now, I suspect she will soon get fatter and surpass my 5 lbs of solid muscle and I will still be the smallest and the fastest of the whole pack.
Actually, there isn't much difference between me and Georgie and Ali and Beanie. Beanie was fatter but he has been good lately and Toto has been finishing his own dinner so Beanie can't get the leftovers anymore. He is finally back down to 6 lbs, which makes Momsie very happy.
Now the only fatty is Crystal and she doesn't care about her weight at all! She LIKES being heavy so she can use all that padding to keep warmer.

Well, this Winter started out GREAT...20 inches on Halloween. Halloween, that is still OCTOBER!!! Of course it melted quickly but not before I got to run and run and run thru it. Just as the last of it was finally gone it snowed again. This time it was the day before Thanksgiving and we got six inches. This storm didn't last long at all... it melted away almost before the day was gone, except for some around the edges down in the lab pen.
Then, Winter actually came and we waited, and we waited, and we waited. Here it is January, we are still waiting!! We did get a little dusting on Christmas Eve but it melted away as soon as the sun came out the next morning.
Mom stuck a photo from last New Year's Day and one from today. What a difference... last year I was in HEAVEN... there was sooo much snow it buried EVERYTHING. Today I was out in the field, lying on the warm, green grass and munching on it. I couldn't even run much cuz it was too warm out there for me. Right now it is almost 8 PM and it's still 44 and a warm rain is gently falling. Mom says it smells like Spring!!!
Mom says I need to be very, very careful... I shouldn't be wishing for stuff like snow, at least until she gets back from North Carolina with Betty, my NEW friend.
Speaking of Betty Boop... Mom checked her pedigree and she IS related to me. I can't wait to meet her!! Just one more week to wait and she will be HERE!
Gee, I wonder what she will think about the snow, BOL! I bet she hasn't played in any down there, hehehe. I will have to show her how wonderful it can be!!

Wow, I must have been a very, very good Riley! Santa brought me tons of new toys!! I was so busy last night, I had to try every single one of them.
First I got a nice furry tail attached to a cuz ball. I liked that, but as I was chewing on it the furry stuff got stuck in my teeth and Mom had to pull it out of them. Okay, I will let someone else get the loose fuzz off it. Besides, Toto will destuff it soon and get out the squeaky...he LOVES to do that. It will still be a good toy, just not so noisy.
Next I tried out a different kind of a cuz ball. This one was bigger and has a ton of "feelers" hanging off it. There is no stuffing and no squeakers so Toto didn't like this one. I enjoyed it pretty much, but I was swinging it around by one of the feelers and the cuz ball bopped me right on my head.
So, next I picked up a bright funny shaped ball with a hard rubber web around it. That was okay...the ball squeaks pretty well and Toto can't get ahold of it to pull it out. I liked it cuz not only can you squeak it, but you can chew on the rubber web, too. Mom said she could stick some treats in it, too. That would be nice!
Finally, there was another piggy cuz our old one lost his head. This one is bright pink and has colored dots all over it. Sort of Christmasy in a funny way. I LOVED that old piggy so Chryssie and I started playing tug with this one right away.
Finally, I found a whole bunch of those little colored balls with the faces on them. I thought that Lola had swallowed them ALL, but I guess Santa had some hidden away for after she left.
We ALL love those little things!
After we played with our toys Mom took us down to the lab pen. It was cold and damp outside so we all wore our jackets. Check out how sexy I look with my neat, red, quilted vest on!!!! I love it!!

Sadly, Mom told me today that my baby brother isn't coming here to live with me. It's not all bad, however. It seems she has found another black toy poodle and this one is a girl!
She is two years old and I guess she has been described as a bit kennel crazy. Mom says that's okay, we don't stay in our crates much anyway so she will have lots of house time with us all.
Mom says a girl is probably safer, too, since I might get a little snotty with my brother here. I do try to boss Beanie and Barney, but they won't fight back...maybe cuz they are neutered????
Anyway, Mom says this little girl might even be a relative of mine, too. She is now living at her breeders, who also happens to be Barney and Harvey's breeder, too. When she was a puppy she went somewhere else to live and that's where she got crazy, I guess. That person kept her in her crate ALL the time, so it's not her fault she is a little whacko.
Anyway, when she came back to her breeder's house she was most unhappy about what happened and she said now she won't breed her and instead will find her a nice pet home, which is where Mom comes in. Mom thinks she saw her when she went down to get Harvey and if it's really her, Mom said she is VERY, VERY pretty!!!
Anyway, I guess Mom is going down there to get her with the handler guy when January gets here. I know the handler guy cuz HE owns my mother with the handler girl, who is my breeder. And, he owns lots of poodles with Harvey & Barneys breeder, too, so it is likely we might be related. We shall see.
I will bet Mom will be taking Harvey along for the ride. I sure wish I could go, too. I bet it will even be warmer down there in NC in January, too.
Oh, btw, Mom isn't going on vacation down there... she said she was too poor and needs to work to keep us all fed. Yup, Mom, we do like to eat, BOL!

Mom JUST NOW told me I was a diary pick today. She is certainly a bit slow on her notifications to us, BOL. I would have checked it out myself but Beanie was hogging the puter all day long!!!
Anyway, Mom was pretty much home all day today cuz she was enjoying a day off. I couldn't believe she stayed in bed until 8:20 am!!!! Amazing!
Since it was raining and nasty all day long we got stuck in our dog room. Mom was cleaning and messing around in the living room so we weren't invited.
Finally, she let us all out so I decided to mark the brand new dog bed she just put down. Needless to say, she was not a happy camper!! In fact, she even threatened me with a pee belt!!
Did you know she finally started letting Paisley play out with us? I think she is afraid of us...she keeps racing thru the baby gate into the bedroom. It's going to be MUCH worse since Mom brought home her orange brother today.
I guess I shouldn't complain too much...Mom said we may be getting MY baby brother for Christmas. Now, that could be tons of fun, BOL!!!

Wow, I have been having sooo much fun playing lately! Now that I don't have to baby my show coat Mom never yells at me when I splash thru the mud puddles or race around in the blackberry bushes.
Today I finally succeeded in jumping up into her lap. I have been trying for ages but somehow never plan it right and end up smashing into her knees. It makes me soooo mad when I watch Beanie just levitate up there! Any toy poodle knows the best place in the world is their Mom's lap, BOL!
Speaking of Beanie, I have decided it's high time to push him OFF the pedestal he is on. He really thinks he is MR. SUPERDOG...me, I think he is mr. woose! Anyway, today my plan of attack was to just stand up to him and put my feet on his back and lean my head over his shoulders.
Man, does he hate that!! He rolls his eyes all over the place looking for Mom to protect him. He is smart enough to not try to squirm out from under me, but he is sure squirming inside, hehehe!
After me doing that a few times this afternoon, tonight when Mom let us all out he climbed thru the baby gate and barked at me. He was some shocked when I climbed thru the baby gate and ran up to him, BOL!
It's okay, I didn't hurt him, I didn't even scare him too much. EVERYONE else knows I am way more manly than he is, BOL!

I have a new name. It is Bad boy Riley. How did I come by this name you may ask? Well it took HARD WORK!!!
You see, Mom had an overnight guest last night. Well, in order to get to the guest room a person has to walk thru the corner of OUR dog room. This person was even more of a threat because she had a BIG dog with her.
Saturday night just the dog stayed here. Everytime that dog moved I needed to tell Mom because I knew she was worried since the dog is sick. For someone that was so worried about a dog, Mother sure yelled at me a lot during the night, BOL!!!
Of course, when I announced to Mom that the dog was moving around, Georgie had to pick up the message and howl a bit. Mom was VERY TIRED yesterday.
Last night her friend was here, too. Now, this is REALLY bad... I was getting exhausted from having to tell Mom that they were moving around next to us.
First Mom tried coming in and asking us to stop barking. Yeah, right, Mom... she is in MY house!!! Next she took me and put me in Smokey's crate in the living room. I thought that was okay, so I stopped barking. BUT, that crate has a rattling metal pan and I was bored so I decided to make it rattle even more. That crate is on the other side of the bedroom wall right where Mom's head is, hehehe.
After listening to that for a while Mom came and got me and let me in the bedroom with them. Yippee... what a GREAT room!!! I raced all around, when Mom would call me I jumped on the bed and climbed all over her. What fun!!!
Then, Smokey came along and we had to play. He had lots of those little balls with the bells in them, so he brought them out for me and play we did!!
At this point, Momsie took me BACK into the dog room. This time she put me in Beanie's crate which is on the other side of the room, figuring I wouldn't hear the guests so much.
Hey, by this time I was exhausted and fell soundly to sleep.

We went to the lab pen both yesterday AND today cuz Mom is exploring her new camera. Works good, I guess, and the harness works GREAT... she can take photos of us in her lap all the way to ones of us in the far corner of the pen.
Speaking of the far corner of the pen... she is sure keeping an eagle eye on me lately! Everytime my eyes even wander to the holes in the fence I hear, "Riley? RiLEEE, get over here right now!!!" Of course, the smart thing to do is to respond immediately so she will get complacent and forget to keep watching me all the time. Besides, I always get a great treat when I race over to see what she wants, BOL!
But, I must admit, either she has eyes in the back of her head or she is secretly reading my mind and knows when I am thinking about heading out one of the holes. She is always one "Riley" ahead of my booking away!!
She does think I am pretty good when I come right over when she calls me... yup, I will do that enough so she will be all relaxed, then I am gonna bolt out, HEHEHE!

In my last diary entry I suggested that the Summer was winding down. Who knew in just a couple of short weeks we would be enudated with a HUGE October blizzard, the likes of which hadn't been seen for over 200 years?
Well, around here, at least, most of the snow has melted and it is back to Fall. But, it did remind me of how much I dearly LOVE racing thru snow!!!!
I had the greatest time on Sunday... Mom let me go down to the lab pen THREE times in the same day cuz I was having so much fun. It is even better this Fall cuz I have lost that stupid show coat I was dragging around last year.
Today we went back down to the lab pen cuz Mom got out early. It wasn't the same at all...it was almost 60 degrees, the sun was beating down and the grass was green and fresh. I raced around the edges to get some use out of the snow left in the shade along the fence, but as I was exploring there, I discovered some "holes" in the fence that Mom had been hoping I wouldn't find.
Yup... I could sneak out and she didn't even miss me for the longest time, hehehe, cuz she was watching the other TEN dogs (10 cuz Hilda is visiting again). Since I am an independent sort anyway, Mom is used to me off doing my own thing.
The problem was that after the THIRD time I snuck under the fence Mom refused to let me run anymore and just held me until it was time to go back into the house. Grrrrrrrrr.
Just cuz those other guys are too dumb to find those holes doesn't mean I should have to suffer!!!

Well, I am pretty sure the Summer is over now. We went down to the lab pen today and it was in the hottest part of the day yet we all stayed in the sunny parts, bol! And, none of us were even panting.
I had a pretty good Summer once Mom decided I wasn't gonna be stuck in that kennel growing coat! It was MUCH more fun to race thru that tall grass and bushes and rip out my sunburned coat, heeheehee!
Mother says I am kind of piggy and I eat everything in sight! Just cuz I am unlike all her other poodles doesn't mean I am abnormal...it just means she has to measure out my food! I do LOVE to eat!!! I LIVE to eat, too.
Take tonight, for example. Mom and Susie got some Chinese food on the way home from kayaking because they were hungry and that was the only phone number they remembered for take out. I didn't mind, I LOVE Chinese.
Mom was upset because I was begging a little. Come on, everyone knows you are supposed to feed your dogs before you feed yourself, right?? Remember, a good cowboy feeds his horse first and all that stuff.
Just because Mom decided to eat first was no reason for me not to help her. I love those little meats on a stick. And, as long as she doesn't use too much of that hot mustard, those crab rangoons are great! Mmmm.
Don't worry, I still had plenty of room for my own dinner when she finally decided to feed us, BOL!

Hey, I am writing a group diary entry for myself and my pals Riley and Barney and Lola.
It was a big weekend here and we did not get invited at all to ANY of the festivities!!! We did get to run around down in the lab pen on Friday whilst Mom was setting everything up, but that was actually WORSE than normal cuz she had stuff spread out all over and we had to dodge everything.
As soon as the guests came Mom plunked us back in the house yard and we actually had to WATCH them playing down there.
Being the oldest, yeah, me, Pinki, I am the oldest, anyway, being the oldest I told the little ones not to worry, Mom would probably let us down there later when it was time to sleep.
They were all mad at me when she instead came up and put us in our sleeping crates!!!
In the morning they (the people) all came up to the house and Tanner and Crystal got put in their crates, too! Everyone else went off for a day of kayaking on the pond.
DARN IT ALL... it just doesn't seem right!
Anyway, we are now all planning our revenge. We are not sure what the plan will be, but it will certainly NOT be as enjoyable for them as it will be for us!
When we figure it out, we will let you all know so you can laugh at them, too!!!!

I cannot believe how much FUN I am having now that I don't have to baby my show coat!!!
Yesterday Mom even let me go down to the lab pen DURING the rainstorm! She said we had been stuck inside way too long so when it seemed like it was safe she took us all out there to play. She did wear her raincoat, but it was plenty warm and not too bad out there. I had soo much fun cuz she lets me race thru the bushes and the burdocks and jump in the pool as often as I want to. Amazing!! Only problem was that Irene seemed to have brought a whole bunch of mosquitoes up from the South. There were HUNDREDS of them bugging us!
Today I got to stay outside in the BRIGHT SUN all day long! Not even a worry about bleaching out my show coat, man, this is the life! It was nice out so I decided to lie on the cement porch and soak up a few rays. Now I know why Harvey and Barney love that sun so much, it feels GREAT!!!
Tonight when Mom came home from work we got to go play down in the lab pen again. We ran and ran and ran and finally, my tongue was hanging right out of my mouth! I guess I am out of shape a bit from staying in the kennel with my show coat???
After a while Mom picked up a big, dead branch that Irene blew down. I jumped up to grab it, so she teased me with it a bit, of course, snapping photos all the while, BOL!
Then, I got to come inside and play with Smokey while the other guys went outside. Again, no worries about matts and my show coat, YES!

Next thing, she started the CLIPPERS... MOTHER, have you lost your mind???? Show coats do not get clippers!!!!
She was humming along and the clippers were humming along and when I stole a glance in the mirror, I had SHORT hair for the first time in my life!!!!
I hopped off the table and raced in to show Tonya.... this is sooo neat!!!!
Now I just need a bath and a final trim and it's HOME AGAIN!!! I sure hope we get to go to the lab pen tonight so Mom can get some photos of the real me!!!!!!!

Would you believe that Mom has finally put me in prison??? Yup, NO ONE is in heat and I am stuck over here in prison.
It seems that my LONG (8 inches now!) locks keep getting matted when I run and play with the other dogs. Not a problem, Mom decided I could stay inside instead, but then Smokey cat kept playing with me and he would chew on my neck and my long locks kept getting MORE matted.
The last time Mom groomed me she wasn't very happy. For every matt I lose about 10 or so hairs. Guess I don't grow them that fast, either.
Mom suddenly realized that I was the only one of all the adult poodles in show coat that kept getting matted. Then, she realized that ALL the others were kept in the boarding kennel while they had long hair.
So, following that logic, Mom stuck me in there. One week later when she gave me my weekly bath I had NO MATTS at all. Boooo, I hate it when she's right!!!!
I have no idea how long I can expect to be here in prison. The handler girl hasn't been going to too many shows lately cuz her friend is sick. Soo, if she doesn't go to shows then those other dogs she is showing can't finish their championships and she won't ever get to showing little ole me. I asked Mom to take me and she just laughed!!!
Ali and Toto both said Mom showed them for a while and it wasn't pretty!!! First of all, Mom isn't very patient when it comes to making our hair all nice and pretty and getting a poodle ready for the ring takes tons of patience. And, Mom says she can't afford to show us herself cuz she can't work when she is away at a show and that doesn't work cuz it costs money to show us.
I guess Toto only won ONCE with Mom and she took him to FIVE shows. She took Ali only twice and the first time she lost and the second time the handler guy felt sorry for Ali and he groomed her for Mom to show. It was better, she at least won her class but that was all, BOL. When he took her after that, she won her next four shows in a row!!!
So, I guess I will wait over here in prison and make the best of it. At least Julie gives me lots of different toys and she also gives me some of her bagel.

It's been pretty boring around here lately. I had to go to work this morning to get my weekly hair do done so at least I managed to get out of the house.
Mom was very upset when she started brushing my locks out... seems they were all matted up again. She informed me that I shall NOT be running around in the lab pen nearly as much anymore, especially if it's wet down there.
So, what does she do??? She takes me home and we all went down to the lab pen, BOL!!! I ran and ran, but she did stop me when I headed for the little pool down there, and she also stopped me just as I was going to roll in a HUGE dead nightcrawler. She also took me home early, then went back down with the others.
I don't care... I enjoyed my house time by playing with Smokey cat. He had a dog bone so, of course, being a dog, I needed to steal it back!
Mom actually got the whole thing on video, but her computer is broken and she only has the laptop with a lousy connection so she has to wait until her big one comes back cuz it won't upload from this one.
Oh well, it will still be cute when she finally gets it on there. Maybe she will take it to work and do it there tomorrow!!!

Well, last night Mom decided that I could go kayaking with her and Beanie and Georgie would go with Ali and Susie. I was pretty excited!!
Finally we got there and Mom climbed in the kayak and then Beanie jumped in and I stood there. Mom picked me up and away we went! It was pretty cool, actually it WAS cool up there and it smelled really good like a mixture of cedar and pine and some kind of flowers. And, quiet...only some birds and some frogs were making noise. Too quiet for me, BOL!
After we went a ways I tried to walk on the water... I didn't know, it looked like a floor to me! Imagine my surprise when I was completely under water!!! Mom reeled me in and I shook pond water all over her and Beanie, hehehe! Now I really WAS cool!
It was pretty fun but I quickly got very bored... looking at birds and beavers and frogs gets very old for me... I am a more active sort of a fellow, I guess.
Mom said it was good that I wasn't too thrilled with the trip cuz she wasn't too thrilled with me walking all over her legs the whole time we were on the pond. Soo, I guess I will stay home and play in the lab pen instead of kayak from now on.
Dumb Georgie just sat there, looking at everything, just like Ali does. It wasn't too hard to tell they were mother and daughter, BOL!
When we got home I did manage to act big and let everyone know I had been somewhere special, especially to Taylor and Lola! They are older than me and they haven't been in the kayak yet, hehehe!

This morning Mom took me to work and she gave me a nice bath and groom. Then, I hung around over there for a while until it was time to come home.
Even though it was really wet outside Mom decided I could perhaps go down to the lab pen and run around. Wet grass that has been rained on for a whole week is not very dirty so although I would get wet and curly, I wouldn't get dirty.
Fine, away we all went. Mom took a blanket and a cushion so she could sit in the wet chair without getting cold and damp.
We all started racing around and Mom was sitting there, watching us all and laughing and taking photos. Sounds normal, right?
Well, suddenly, I dodged left and Barney didn't see me cuz he's missing his left eye so he smashed right into me. His head bonked me right on my eye and it hurt like crazy!!! So, of course I screamed and took off to hide. Being dogs and being a pack, they ALL took off after me to make sure I was really going to be dead from my injuries... if not, they were going to finish me off, I guess.
When I realized they were all pursuing me, I screamed even louder and ran even faster. At this point, Mom was sure I WAS mortally wounded so she was running along after me, too. Finally, the other guys realized they couldn't very well kill me with Mom right there watching so they all backed off and I allowed Mom to pick me up. By this time my eye didn't hurt anymore, so I stopped screaming as well.
Mom checked me all over and didn't find any marks or anything. She called me a baby and wrapped me up in the blanket and held me until it was time to go home.
I hate it when she makes the others think I am a baby!!! After all, I am older than Lola, at least!

Of course, when we finally got home it was raining again!! Why am I not surprised?? But, I guess Mom had been sitting in the car way too long and the other guys had been sitting in their crates way too long so we all got to go down in the lab pen anyway.
When I first got down there I had to mark EVERYTHING, of course. Then, I had to eat some grass, then, finally, I could run and run and run! It was really, really wet down there, so of course, I am now soaked!!!
After our run, Mom fed us all our dinner and now we are relaxing in the living room. Well, I am not relaxing, I am playing with Smokey. Did you know the handler girl doesn't have ANY cats??? How strange is that??
Mom had to take some photos of the way the handler girl banded my hair. Mom says it looks so neat when she does it and when Mom does it all the hair falls out and the bands are all crooked! I gotta say, Mom NEVER put bands in my ears... the first thing that happened was I was scratching my head and my foot got stuck right in the band. Every time I pulled it, it pulled MY hair and made me cry. Finally, Mom discovered what was wrong and untangled me.
She has to bathe all the hairspray out of my topknot tomorrow... wonder how the bands will look when SHE puts them in, BOL!
Well, I gotta go, I really missed my Mom and she's gotta hold me for a bit now!

Well, I went off to my first show and I won my class so I am now undefeated. Of course, I didn't defeat anyone, cuz I was the ONLY one in my class, BOL!!
Mom hasn't talked to the handler girl yet so she doesn't know if I was good or if I was bad or if I was just okay. I guess she will find out when she picks me up tomorrow. At least I didn't get excused so I probably didn't bit anyone or get measured out. Hey, I am the PERFECT size for a male Toy poodle, unlike Tanner who is WAY, WAY too big!!!
As soon as I get home I am gonna RUN thru the tall, wet grass in the lab pen and get myself all wet and muddy, hehehe! I have been too clean and too dry for too long.
AFter that, I am gonna convince Mom that I need to go for a kayak ride!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!!

Well, since my show is on Saturday, the handler girl said Mom COULD come get me on Sunday!! That makes me very happy! Of course, she also said she would need me again in July. Oh well, good practice, I guess???
Mom said I would most likely be able to go out in the kayak after I get home. She said as long as I stay IN the kayak I should be fine and not hurt my show coat.
Meanwhile, I cannot wait to get home and go for a run in the field with one of the little colored balls with the face on them. I sure hope Mom finds the ones she put away...she says she has looked everywhere. I hope someone didn't think that was trash in the little bag she put them in and throw them away. Crystal told me we only have about 6 left cuz the others either got lost OR Toto chewed them all up. Maybe Mom will save a couple just for me OR we could stop and get some more on the way home.
Well, gotta go do my evening practice. Mom asked the handler girl to get a photo of me in all my dog show hair finery. She will put it on my page as long as no one laughs at me OR calls me a girl!!!

I don't want Mom to email her in case she decides I am super good and ready to show. So far, so good I guess cuz entries usually close on Wednesday and she didn't tell Mom about entering me anywhere else.
Ali said Mom hasn't even gone kayaking since I left... she must be waiting for me to come home so I can go, too! She said she was going to invite the handler girl to come up and go with her. Bet she won't!!!

Hey, everyone... the handler girl called Mom today and she is going to take me to my very first dog show in TWO WEEKS!!! Well, a little more than two weeks, it's on June 11th. Mom is taking me down to her house tomorrow so I can do a little training before the show.
I am pretty excited and sure hope I win but Mom said not to count on it... it seems I am the "extra" entry to make sure there is a major for the girl dogs. Oh well, plenty of extra entries have won before me so when I do, I won't be the first!!!
The handler girl is going to be very, very surprised at how mature I am now and also about how much hair I have. Mom says it is SIX inches long on my topknot!!! Mom wants me to go down there early so no one here (mainly Toto) will chew it off!!!
Soo, tomorrow I am having a nice bath and then we will go for the long ride down there.
Gee, I hope I don't miss my kayak trip while I am gone... actually, I really hope the handler girl doesn't notice how good I am now and keep me there all Summer long. Maybe if she does I can win my shows really fast and get to come home sooner??
I hope the handler girl notices how well I do my stacks now. Mom has been teaching me with some cat food when we go in the break room. I can stand really well for a really long time. Of course, I am sure it will be different at a REAL show!! Hope I am not scared of the judge, BOL!
Well, I gotta go to bed early so I will be ready to roll tomorrow morning!

Lately I have been stuck in the house too much! Mom says my puppy coat is still changing and if the breezes blow thru it, it gets matted. And, the sun has finally been shining, which is bad if you are a red head show dog cuz it will bleach out my hair and make it turn orange. NO ONE wants an orange head, right?
I have convinced her to let me out in the evenings for a bit so I can stretch my legs. Speaking of, have you noticed how in so many photos, my legs are going every which way? I hope that is just cuz they are shaved and the hair used to cover that up, but, trust me, I am really not deformed, BOL!
The last couple of nights Smokey the cat has come along down into the lab pen with us. For a cat, he is a pretty cool dude! I especially like to chase him, but I also NEVER forget that he has those LONG, HOOKED, POINTED, SHARP nails on each toe, and he knows how to use them! Soo, if I happen to look a bit frightened in some of my photos, trust me, I have a right to look that way!
Anyway, he is pretty fun to play with and he is actually even more fun to play with in the house. Tonight he and I helped Mom eat dinner and we had a great time and also had some great food. The only problem was that he got most of the meatz and I was left with the carrots and cukes. That didn't seem to fair to me!
Hey, Beanie said he went out kayaking last night. Now, that is something I am SURE I would love to try. I am hoping I can go with Mom some night after the sun has lowered in the sky OR on a cloudy day. I am sure Mom will take lots of photos when I go!!!

This morning Mom took us down to the lab pen. Well, Georgie is now back home and I didn't get a chance to breed her so I am still gonna try and do it! She is being a bear and growling and snarling at me, then she runs really fast and jumps in Mom's lap.
I can't help it, she still smells like I should be chasing her, but I am still young and don't know what I am supposed to do IF I catch her.
Needless to say, I wasn't enjoying my trip down to the lab pen so finally Mom took me home and put me in my crate with a bully stick. That was VERY GOOD!!!
Guess tomorrow when we go out I will chase her again and see if I get another bully stick!!!!

It figures... just when they shaved off all my nice, long hair we get a horrible, wet, cold snow fall. We had just been playing in the 65 degree warmth and sunshine the day before. We actually got about three inches but then it turned to icy cold rain and finally, it all disappeared. But, not before Mom let us go play in it.
PLAY... is she crazy??? We all spent the whole time trying to shake those awful, cold, wet, snow flakes off our coats! If you notice my primary photo, you will see that I was jumping off that wall and right into a HUGE snow field!! It took real guts to do that, but, I am a gutsy sort of a fellow! How else do you think I would DARE to wear this haircut???
Mom says I am growing up. Just when I got interested in Georgie, she took her away from me. But, today I discovered that Ali is also in heat. Unlike Georgie, Ali is that word they use to describe female dogs with, so I am pretty much staying away from her, but, I am keeping my eye on her. We will see whether Mom takes HER or ME over to the boarding kennel. I vote for Ali to go over there!!!!

Mom took me along for the ride today when Georgie went down to the handler girls to meet her boyfriend/hubby. At least that's what she said. She did say I might get a little trim, so she gave me a bath before we left.
That was fine with me... my hair has been a bit shaggy lately AND I thought it would be nice to see my old home stomping grounds... oh yeah, and the handler girl AND her sister!
I had to ride in my crate cuz Toto went along, too! Georgie was in her crate, too. It was an uneventful ride down... there is a TON of road construction now that spring is here so it was pretty slow in MANY places. But, we finally got there.
Would you believe my sister was there, too?? I was happy to see her but she growled at me, imagine that! Mom handed me to the handler girl and she was looking at me and deciding what to trim when Mom said the most dreaded words..."how about the pattern, it's easier to keep dematted, right?" The handler girl agreed and since I am not going to be shown as a puppy, she immediately began chopping off my golden locks!! If you notice my photo you will see them lying all over the table! It was a terrible injustice... she held me even when I was fidgiting and squirming and then she took a noose and put it around my BELLY!!!! I sure hope Mom didn't see that little trick and get any ideas.
Finally I was finished and had to endure all those comments about how I was definitely a red-head and had the temperament to go with it! Those were coming from Mom AND the handler girl and her sister. I wasn't THAT BAD!
We hopped back in the car and headed home. Mom stopped at a Petco cuz she promised us some more of those little balls with the faces on them. Would you believe that Petco didn't have any??? HEY, I forgot, me and Toto got to go IN the store...how cool is that?
We went along and Mom found another Petco. They had five of the little balls with the faces on them so she bought all five. We got to go in there, too! Next, we came to another Petco (WOW!). We went in there and they also had FIVE little balls with the faces on them. Mom bought them all!!!! Me and Toto got to play with two of them on the rest of the way home.
FINALLY, we were home. Would you believe those highway guys were still working at 7 PM???? Yup, and there was LONG, SLOW lines every where they were. I was hungry and I had to go pee pee. Toto didn't have to cuz he peed in the car!!!! Mom was REALLY MAD!!!
Check out the photos of my new doo. I'm liking it cuz I don't have so much for those other guys to grab onto and pull!

Nasty day today. It's cold and pouring rain. Something is wrong with the phones at work, too, and Mom ended up with ONLY one dog to groom. Soo, she dragged me over there for a bath. Beanie came along to neaten up his face. She put us with Hilda, Laurie's Frenchie, and Hilda tried to beat me up. Kind of scary cuz Hilda followed us home and is staying in OUR house for a WHOLE TWO WEEKS!!! Yuck!
Pretty soon the UPS man showed up with Mom's new lens. She got a telephoto prime lens, her very first "L" lens, which are supposed to be the best ones by Canon, when she sold off a bunch of her jewelry from her "dress up" days. She doesn't do that anymore, hehehe!
Anyway, as soon as it came she rushed us home for some test shots, since it's her afternoon off anyway. Well, I think it works GREAT cuz she has to be really FAR away from us to take the photos!! She was way out in the kitchen and me and Beanie were relaxing in the living room and she got nice shots of us. She put a couple on my page and one on Beanies.
Now she is madly cleaning the house and hoping the rain stops soon so she can go outside and play with the lens. I am pretty darn sure she won't be letting ME out there in all that muck and mud since I am clean and shiny right now. DRATS!!!
Maybe she can practice with raindrops??? I guess you could get pretty creative shooting those?
Meanwhile, we are all sitting in our crates barking at the vacuum cleaner and the mop. Nice quiet afternoon off for Mom, hehehe! Usually she makes us go outside when she cleans our room.

Puppy coat changes are not much fun if you are a show poodle. If you are a pet poodle like Taylor it's not a problem cuz your coat is sooo short it won't matt. I am a show pup so of course, I have LONG coat.
It started right around my neck and down the shoulders. The entire inch closest to my skin was all matted up in a clump. Fortunately, my hair was still pretty clean and it had just started so Mom was able to spray me with lots of conditioners and gently brush all the matts out.
Puppy coat change happens cuz most of the puppy hairs start falling out. Because the coat is long and thick, they have no where to go so they get tangled up in the other hair. The more they tangle, the worse it gets. When it happened to Crystal Mom was away and she ended up having to totally shave Crystal. Fortunately, she bathes me every week and brushes all the knots out as soon as she spies them, so it was okay. She knew it was coming because last week there was a bunch of fallen out hairs left on the brush.
Soo, Mom has now proclaimed that I shall not be racing around in the lab pen for a few weeks. She said all the wind and pieces of grass and little sticks will make it much worse. Fortunately, it usually doesn't last too long and when all that puppy coat is gone I will have MUCH stronger hairs instead and they won't matt hardly at all.
Sure hope so, Mommy dearest!

Well, Mom had a conversation with the handler girl. Since the big speciality is coming up THIS month, she can't take me until after that. Well, Mom decided I wouldn't have enough time to become a champion while I was still a puppy and I really don't have enough coat (or training, hehehe) to be an adult show dog yet, sooo....I guess I keep the coat all Summer and go showing in the Fall.
That makes me very, very sad! I wanted to run and play and sunbathe with Harvey and Barney. I wanted to explore mud puddles with Crystal and go camping with Beanie and Toto and Skye. Oh yeah, I also wanted to go Kayaking.
Mom says I can run and play in the evenings. She said I cannot sunbathe with Harvey and Barney, nor can I play in mud puddles. She said camping was out, but I could still go kayaking as long as it's in the evenings.
She said she would talk with the handler girl about putting MORE pony's in my coat to protect it better so I could play more. And, finally, she said the handler girl will not trim my coat very much to protect the ends in case they get a little bleached from the sun. They can trim off the bleached parts before they show me.
Sounds okay to me. Not good, but at least okay. Mom said we will also devote some time to training me to stand good on a table and gait good on my leash. I have been here three months now, and I am way, way better with strangers. And, I can really walk good on my leash, too, and I LOVE my Mom, so I will be a good boy!

Sure enough, I got to go over to work with Mom this morning. She did in fact, give me a groom. It wasn't that I was dirty, but my pony tails in my topknot had started to fall down and my hair was blocking my eyes. When that happens it makes my eyes water, then they get all gunky and smelly and ugly. Sooo, I got the whole works and Mom put some extra conditioner in my topknot so it would stay in the elastics better. So far, so good.
Next, I hung out with Mom in the house for a while and got some one on one time with her. I also got some of those great Cornish Game hens she cooked yesterday afternoon. Mmmmmm good! She called it training, I called it treating! Doesn't matter I guess, the end result was that I got to eat lots of chicken!!!
I then had a GREAT time running in the lab pen. I ran and ran and ran and chased the ball all over the place. A couple of times Barney managed to steal it away from me, but I remembered his blind side and snuck right up and stole it back!!!
Hey, guess what? I found the first dead nightcrawler of the season. Mom says rolling in dead nightcrawlers is definitely an inborn thing with us dogs. I came here in December and the nightcrawlers were all burrowed deep into the ground. Before that, I lived in a kennel with NO grass and dirt at all so I certainly never learned about night crawlers there. Well, we were running around in the lab pen and I smelled something way cool. I stopped, snuffed around and, THERE IT WAS!!! A small, rotten piece of nightcrawler. I don't know what made me do it, but I instantly dropped to the ground and rolled for all I was worth. Next thing I knew, Taylor and Georgie came rushing up and dropped and rolled right along with me.
NEXT THING WE KNEW... Momsie came along and picked it up and threw it over the fence! Spoilsport!!!
After our run in the field, Mom took Beanie and I down to the big yard. Now, there is another place I have never visited before. It was pretty cool down there, it fact, it was might cool cuz there is still a ton of snow down there. There is also a big garden with lots of flowers already blooming. Mom took my photo with some crocuses (croci???) and I liked it so I am using it for my primary Easter photo.
Then, Mom sent my photos to the handler girl and they are talking about when I will be doing my shows. I say get it over with so I can lose the hair and really play this summer!!!

Mom gave me a groom yesterday, even though it was Sunday. I guess she had to wait at work for some pups to go home so she took me along for the bath.
I have to admit, I was pretty dirty and my coat was all curly from running thru the wet snow all week. And, my face and feet were also pretty shaggy.
Mom gave me a really nice cream rinse and used that super dryer on me so my hair was all long and straight.
I was pretty surprised when I got home and she said I could go down in the lab pen with everyone. I guess she knew the ground was still frozen and there was no mud down there.
She must have taken a million photos of me running thru the field cuz she said the wind was blowing my coat lots and it looked really neat flowing in different directions. I guess they didn't work out that well cuz I only saw a few new ones on my page, and nothing with super flowing coat, only a few where I looked "fluffy". Fluffy is not something I prefer to be referred to as, that's for sure!!!
My coat is now about 5 inches long and maybe even six inches along my mane. I guess that means I have to go back to the handler girls place pretty soon and become a show dog. Figures, Summer is almost here now!!! I was gonna go kayaking and camping and stuff like that.
Georgie and Pinki informed me that this Summer was their turn! Pinki had babies last Summer and Georgie was away at the shows and therefore, I will have to wait my turn AFTER my shows. Not fair, not fair at all!!!

As you may know, I am the baby here. I might not be the youngest... Mom has to look that up, but it's between me and Taylor and Lola and Louie. Because those four were born here and grew up here that still makes me the baby. Anyway, Mom just looked and I am the baby of the poodles but Louie and Lola are BOTH younger than me but about a month.
Back to the subject at paw. Being the baby is a pain because I always have to get everything last! I get let out last, put back last, fed last, bathed last, and I even get all the toys last after everyone else has played with them.
Last night (speaking of last, hehehe) I was out playing with everyone and about 8 or 9 times someone came and took a toy away from me. Finally, I was getting sick of that so I went over to Mom for some lovin'. Would you believe that Beanie raced out from under the desk and attacked me??? Well, let me tell you, I did not take that sitting down!!!
Fortunately, Mom yelled at Beanie and not me so I got to keep playing. I did want to grab a toy from Taylor but I figured out it was in my best interests not to do that, at least not last night!

There seems to be quite a few problems with the nice, warm Spring weather, at least for me. First of all, those huge snow piles are all melting and everything is soaking wet, including ME! My nice, long show coat is always dripping wet after just being outside for five minutes. Speaking of five minutes... everyone EXCEPT ME gets to stay outside in the warm, Spring air ALL AFTERNOON. I have to stay inside cuz the warm, Spring sunshine will bleach my show coat and make it all rusty looking. Soo, I only get to play outside when we go down into the lab pen...the rest of the time I have to be out of the sun. Did you know that my coat can still get bleached on cloudy days??? Mom says that is true, but I don't know about that! At least she is also making Lola stay inside with me cuz her black coat can also get rusty looking. Misery loves company, huh, Mom???
And, finally, Mom is getting bitten by the showing bug again. She is old and lazy now, so when it's cold and snowy she doesn't want to leave the warm house and go to a show but now that it's Spring outside she is getting antzy to take me off to the shows. She has decided that if I am still too nervous to go off with the handler girl maybe SHE (Mom) will go to the shows, too, and show me herself. Yeah, right, Mom... I would like to at least have a chance to win once in a while... I've heard about how YOU show dogs!!!!
Anyway, along those lines she took me over to work today and gave me a nice brush out and re-did my pony tails. Then, she made me stand on these stupid little posts so I could learn to stand on the table without moving. Yeah, right... that's gonna work???? We shall see!!!

As you know, my Mom has lots of dogs and she loves all of us, but... she loves me the best!! Here in her own words is why:
Riley, I always wanted a red show dog and you were a great Christmas present! I love how you are so different from the other toys... you are independent and a loner, yet you really are the baby and need extra loving, even though you don't want them to see you loving on me. I love to watch you chase the other dogs thru the field, especially Crystal or Toto. Riley, you make me laugh!

I really like my new photo. I didn't have to wear any props or hats or anything... Mom just took a photo I already had and did a little work with it. And, it's way better than Lola's... she is green all over, at least I am just green around the edges. Speaking of edges, Mom did some sort of embossing thingie to my photo...I like it!!! It gives me dimension, I think.
Today we ran around in the lab pen but Mom was being strange and didn't let us all out together. She let the cresteds go out with Toto and Pinki, then she let us toys out by ourselves. It wasn't too fun cuz I had NO ONE to chase since Crystal wasn't there. I tried to get Taylor to pick up the pink ball so I could chase her but all she wanted to do with it was play and jump around with it in her mouth. Everyone else was also being bratty so I didn't have anyone to chase. Finally I went over and dug around in the hole Toto made when he was looking for some mousies. I didn't even find any mousies, either.
I sure hope tomorrow will be more fun... it's supposed to be a nice day, I think. Today was cloudy and windy, too!

Well, it was pretty fun staying in the kennel I guess. We had a HUGE expen, actually it was three expens all clipped together. First we had four of them and we were all together but Beanie decided to be mean and he bit me right on the leg!!! OUCH! Actually, it didn't hurt that bad but Mom was watching out the window so I had to limp lots, hehehe! She made Beanie come inside and then he had to stay in his own small expen the whole rest of the time.
I had to go into a crate every single night cuz I have a bad habit of climbing out of the expens, hehehe! Mom was afraid I might get into trouble in the middle of the night OR that the big Giant Schnauzer that comes in to daycare at 6 AM might step on me and hurt me if I was out. So, every night I got crated and came out every morning.
It is MUCH nicer to be home again, though. First we all ran around down in the lab pen but it is raining very hard here today and Mom said my pictures aren't very good cuz my coat is all wet and stringy. Oh well, the weather person said it was going to snow some more this week so I guess I will have some better snow photos later in the week.
Right now it is all foggy outside and the temperature has dropped 10 degrees in just the last hour. And, a BIG wind is now blowing. Guess I will stay inside tonight, brrrrrrr.

Mom said I was a diary pick this morning. I was wondering why I had lots of visitors and comments! Thanks for visiting my page, every pup!!!
As you can tell by my new photos, we had a good run in the snow yesterday, but... that snow wasn't dry, it was STILL sticking to my coat everywhere. It is a quick way to gain a few pounds, hehehe! Or, to lose a few pounds like when Mom sticks me in the kitchen sink after and all those snow balls melt.
Today it is snowing again, so far we have about four inches and it's still coming!!! I guess we will all stay inside today and watch Mom and Toto pack for their trip to Wisconsin to get Smokey. I hope Smokey likes the snow!!! Mom says he will LOVE our huge daycare pen cuz it is HUGE and has a really, really tall fence so he can't jump out of it. He will have FUN!
Well, I am going back to bed for a while...nothing else to do until Mom comes home from work. Catch ya later!!!

We got tons of wet snow yesterday. It was weird cuz it was sooo sticky that it made huge snowballs all over our legs. Well, I am the littlest so those snowballs were completely covering my whole body!
When I came in I left a long trail of snowballs all thru the house. Finally, Mom rinsed me off in the sink so they all melted away.
Today it is much colder and now the snow is dry again. We were all waiting for Mom to get home so we could go play but now it's getting all cloudy. It's supposed to snow again tonight, only 3 or 4 inches this time!
When I came in this morning I only had a little snow on me cuz dry snow doesn't snowball on us. Actually, Mom said Piper looked the strangest yesterday cuz he is black and the snowballs all over him were white. Mom said they were everywhere the tan markings would be IF he was black and tan... hmmmm, I think they call that a Phantom in poodles... a black and white phantom??? Very, very interesting!!!!

Mom took that new profile photo so you guys could really see my new haircut. It was pretty breezy and the wind was blowing my main hair straight up like it would be if I was in a show. BUT... alas, that same wind was blowing my leg hair all over the place so it's hard to tell I even HAD a haircut. Oh well, it feels better to me, anyway, and I especially feel wonderful that Mom knows how to do my topknot now so I can still see, even after she took it down and recombed it. She was making one big pony instead of two small ones like the handler girl did, and that caused the hairs to all pull out and fall back into my eyes. Crystal was so jealous cuz her hair is still falling into her eyes. Mom said when it gets Summer she will give Crystal her own pony.
The handler girl told Mom that us red poodles get bleached coats if we are in the sun too long. Mom said she knew that since she had brown Chaz and all those chocolate poodles, but you have to weigh the benies against the cons...sooo, the handler girl left lots of long hair on my back so if it gets bleached she can cut it off before my shows! So, now I can still go play in the field and chase Crystal around to try and steal her pink ball! That'll work!!!

Well, we woke up and it was FREEZING in our house. Now, I don't just mean cold like usual, I mean FREEZING, as in 40 degrees!!! Mom played with the thermostat, and then realized the furnace wasn't working at all!!! She went down the cellar and opened the furnace and pushed the little red button and viola, it started. Well, then Mom was too nervous to leave cuz she was afraid it wouldn't come back on again. Soo, she and I hung around in the living room for over an hour and it had started again twice so we left. Good thing we didn't have to be there at any special time. Then, we had to get gas, then we had to get breakfast, then we had to get a car plug for Mom's phone, then we finally got there!!! We had to park in a little mud parking lot and pay a fortune, then walk all the way down the street to the building in the FREEZING wind. Finally, we found the handler girl and the waiting began! Mom said the waiting was so I would get used to being at dog shows and not get scared but I think we were just plain waiting!!! We walked over with the handler girl while she showed the toy poodles. She didn't win! Then, we went back and I waited some more on a table. And waited and waited. Then, the handler girl had to show the mini poodle. Mom was all excited cuz it was one of her grandchildren! Well, sort of, it was a daughter of Chaz, who was here before my time. Mom says she is very, very pretty and SHE WON!!! She is my age and she is already almost a champion!!!!
Then, Mom walked me around some, but I was scared. She didn't have any treats for me, but a nice lady with a HUGE dog came along, watched me for a bit, then gave Mom a HUGE piece of liver all for me!!! I was MUCH happier after that!
While the handler girl was getting Chaz's daughter back in wraps Mom and I went over to all the concessions. She bought me a toy AND she bought a present for Beanie!!! She bought them from the people from the rescue place cuz she said she'd rather give her money to them. Besides, our toys are homemade!!!
Finally, it was time for my haircut. I stood on the table and the handler girl trimmed and snipped and cut. Mom helped by HOLDING ME UP cuz I didn't want to stand there any longer!!! The best part is she fixed my topknot and showed Mom how to fix it so it will stay out of my eyes!!!! I can't wait to go run in the field tomorrow cuz it will be the first time I can actually see where I am going!!!
Finally, it was time for me and Mom to go home. While we were walking up the street back to the car a man came along behind us with his Rottie. He told Mom to hang on really tight to me when we got past the big building. Mom was wondering what he meant, but just then we were past the building and a HUGE, TERRIBLE WIND came up and almost blew me away!!!! It blew snow and mostly dirt in our eyes and everything. Fortunately, we were almost to the car.
Finally we were heading home. After Mom stopped for some shopping for the kennel and then stopped for some food for her we ran right into a HUGE snow squall. It made the interstate just like a big skating rink so Mom got off. Fortunately, we were just 10 miles from home so Mom went up a back road and it was fine. It wasn't as slippery cuz all those cars weren't making it turn into ice like they did on the interstate.
When we got home Mom and I were very happy to discover that the furnace was working just fine.
Everyone else is now playing but I am resting cuz I am very, very tired of waiting all day long!!!!

Well, I had to go over to daycare today cuz it was Friday and that is my bath day. Mom had tons and tons of dogs to groom and since they were paying and I wasn't, she did them all first. Sooo, by the time she got to me she was tired, I think. Anyway, she did a quick shave, and a quick bath, very quick, and then she dried me with that horrible dryer. It is called a force dryer, if that tells you anything about it!!! I did manage to survive, then she sprayed me all over with some baby detangler stuff. Guess it worked cuz the brushing wasn't too bad. Finally, it was time for my pony tail topknot and I was done. I decided to be nice since Mom was tired so I didn't bite her!!!
The problem is that my topknot is still a bit short so it doesn't stay in the pony very well. When it falls down then I can't see!!! Mom said she hopes the handler girl will help her figure out how to keep it in longer.
The other problem today was that it was very, very nice today, like about 58 degrees fantastic outside. Not a problem, you say?? Well, it IS a major problem if you are going to the show to get a groom tomorrow and your hair curls when it gets wet. There is no way, no how you can play outside and keep dry in 58 degree weather when the three feet of snow on the ground is melting like mad. Melted snow is water, right? Well, there was plenty of it out there, I guess. I don't know cuz I didn't get to experience it... a few quick trips out for business, that was it!
Mom says tomorrow when we get home I can go play in the lab pen and get as wet as I want to. Right, Mom, it's supposed to be FREEZING cold again tomorrow!!!!!
Oh well, guess I better go to sleep now so I won't be tired at the show. I haven't seen the handler girl, MY breeder, since Christmas. Hope she still likes me!!!

This morning Mom took me and Taylor over to work with her. She put us in the little expen over there, right beside Piper and his Auntie Coco. Mom found us a bunch of toys to play with and gave us two nice, little beds. Frankly, it looked to me like she was expecting to leave us for the whole weekend!!! The only thing missing was some food.
For some reason the other girls had to go home early so it was just Mom and us all afternoon. Of course, we found the real reason we were there when she finished all the other grooming dogs and put me on the table. She did a little shaving of the feet, trimmed my nails and brushed me. That was fine, but then she stuck me in the tub and dried me with that HUGE blower thingie. It has no heat so it was pretty cold until it finally got a bit warmer from the motor heat. Then, I had to be brushed and brushed some more and it was Taylor's turn.
After our grooms we went into the break room and Mom gave us some cat food. She said she was training us, but, to me and Taylor, it looked like she was feeding us, lol! After that, she put us on a leash and practiced walking with us. It wasn't too bad since I finally figured out it was easier to walk along rather than fight with the leash.
Now we are home playing in the living room as usual. Mom says my hair is growing really long so I am going off to see the handler lady next weekend!

Yesterday we all went out in the upper pen cuz Mom was too tired from slogging in the deep snow in the bottom pen, or so she said. The other guys stuck to the paths, but I was brave and I went all over checking stuff out. It was plenty warm enough, but it WAS cloudy so we didn't stay out too long. As soon as you have run back and forth along the same path five or more times it does get boring!
Now, today was a different story! It started snowing yesterday afternoon and then it turned into rain, in fact, last night there was a terrible storm with HUGE flashes of lights and lots of crashing, booming noises. Beanie said he was supposed to alert us all, so he did a bunch of barking. Well, all that rain flattened the new snow down to about three inches of wet slushy snow. Beneath that was about 10 inches of wet snow and then there was the crust, still there, with another 20 inches under that. Whew, that is a LOT of snow!!!
Anyway, the sun was shining brightly and it was almost 40 degrees so Mom said we should go down into the lab pen, if we could make it, hehehe! Well, it turned out that I was the only one light enough to stay on the top three inches...everyone else sunk right thru that little bit of wet crust. Sooo, I did lots of exploring BUT... I kept crashing thru the crust and pretty soon I was totally covered with HUGE, heavy snowballs!!! I bet I had 10 lbs of them stuck to my coat. Well, once that happened, then I couldn't stay on top, either!!! Soo, Mom took us home. She let everyone else stay outside in the warm sun on the dry porch, but I had to come inside and melt down cuz by the time I got home those snowballs were really, really big! Mom let me run around in the house, then she noticed that I was freezing cold so she had to give me a warm bath to melt all the snowballs off me!
I am still trying to figure out if it was worth all that trouble. I guess so cuz I did have fun racing all over when the other guys couldn't. Poor Toto and Harvey actually thought they could dig all the way down and find a mousie. They dug a long ways down, but I didn't see any mousies!
Tonight we all all soundly sleeping!!!

Me and my girls spent the day over at daycare today. In fact, we are still over here and I am on Mom's work computer. I wonder if she knows that... she probably does cuz she uses AOL still and it would have bumped her right off when I signed on, hehehe!
Anyway, back to me and my girls. Georgie and Taylor are here with me and we had soo much fun today. We played outside lots cuz those big dogs at daycare tramped down the snow and made tons of paths. One of them is a HUGE St. Bernard. He is the biggest one Mom says she has ever seen, and she has seen a lot of them. He is also the nicest one she has ever seen, too. Anyway, we played and ran in the snow lots. Mom came out with her camera and when she looked at the photos, there was a rainbow in a bunch of them... it was cool. Mom says it was cuz the sun was in the wrong place and reflected on the filter on the lens. I dunno, it was pretty cool.
Crystal came over to daycare, too, and she stayed in with us a bit. But, then the daycare dogs went home so she went in with Piper cuz he is staying over here, too. Mom brought us all over so we could enjoy being outside in the warm sun. Every weekend it is cloudy and cold so we can't play out much when she is home and it's dark when she gets home from work. But... tonight was the first night that the sun was actually still showing over on the horizon at 5 when Mom went home, so she said Spring is really coming. Me, I don't know what Spring is, I thought that is what Crystal does when she lands on the table.
Well, I gotta go now and rest up for the morning. We gotta be well rested so we can play more tomorrow!!!!

Mom says I am completely different now that Tanner is not here. She said I was fine before, but I didn't usually run around and play much in the house. Well, yesterday and today I did in fact run ALL thru the house and I played and played and played with Taylor and Georgie.
Mom thinks I must have been intimidated by Tanner, even though we seemed okay together. Now that he is gone I figure I should be the boss dog of the toys, well, except for Beanie...he is the "real" boss, I guess.
Speaking of Beanie, Mom even noticed that I played way more with him outside yesterday and today, too. I told her it was the rule of thirds... not the photography one but the dog one... three is a crowd and the third dog is always out! Tanner always hogged Taylor and Georgie had Beanie and that left me on the outside, looking in. Now, I get Taylor and Georgie AND Beanie, cuz I am not always having to check where Tanner is. Beanie is someone I can look up to and emulate! I am gonna grow up to be just like him cuz he is my hero!!!
I have to admit, Tanner was a bit snotty and he was LOUD! If he had something like a toy and I walked anywhere near him, he would roar at me. If one of us got too close when he had something, he would even fight with us. Now, you understand, that never happened with me cuz I think he was a little afraid of me cuz I wasn't neutered???? I KNOW I was afraid of him, so I never tried to take his toy, hehehe! Those girls aren't afraid of anything so they always ended up fighting with Tanner.
Barney is different... he sounds LOUD and vicious, but if one of us wants HIS toy, we just go take it... he is all bark and no bite, hehehe! Mom says Chinese cresteds are lovers, not fighters. Must be true cuz even though he makes a ton of nasty sounding noise, he sort of rolls over and lets us have whatever we want.
Anyway, I did have a good day both yesterday and today and I do not miss Tanner!!!

Bet you didn't even know I was gone, huh??? Yup, me and Taylor and Tanner spent TWO whole nights at daycare again. It's pretty fun over there, but it's not as nice as home. Mom did bring us home this morning first thing. I was very happy to see she also brought Ali home yesterday. Man, that girl smells good to me!!! She doesn't seem interested in me at all, but I did keep trying to change her mind so finally Mom put me in my crate. Darn it all. She did say that no way would Ali let me breed her cuz she is too far out of her heat but she still smells good to me...I never smelled the REAL thing before so what do I know???
Today we had a great time down in the lab pen. It was actually warm down there which was a bit of a problem for me and Taylor cuz that made the soft snow stick to our coats. Even so, I did get some wonderful jumps in for Mom to take photos of. She missed most of them, but did get ONE good one, at least.
We were watching the bigger dogs, Toto and Piper. They were pretty funny to watch...they would run along for a ways, then crash thru the crust and sink up to their necks or sprawl all over like someone tripped them. Once in a great while one of us would sink thru, but we are little so we didn't fall all the way down to the ground. I did notice Taylor take quite a header, though. She had her mouth open and so she ended up with a whole mouthful of snow, hehehe!
Well, gotta go to sleep now. All that fresh air sure makes you very tired and sleepy. I got my great bone with me, but I am even too tired to chew anymore!

Hehehe, those other guys were all excited cuz they were diary picks last week, but I am THE Diary pick today! I am soo happy and thrilled and I LOVE gifts so this is great!
It was MINUS 20.8 degrees here this morning. Mom didn't even let us go outside cuz it was soooo cold. We just got to run around in the kitchen for a bit.
Then, when Mom got to work she was cleaning the puppy pen and went to get some water and there wasn't any at all!!! She wasn't very happy cuz she had to go home and go down in the cellar and thaw out the pipes cuz the work water comes from the house. She was muttering sooo loud that we heard her way upstairs. Then, she discovered the water was frozen in our HOUSE, too, so she was even madder. While she was trying to figure out who to call to help her she left the space heater on the place where the water comes in from the well. Suddenly, she heard water running so she came upstairs and it was all fixed!!! Now she said she is going to leave the water running tonight so it won't freeze again.
I am supposed to have my bath today but Mom said no way cuz it is just plain too cold. It's still minus five and it's noon already. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Anyway, thanks for all your visits and gifts. It gives me something to do on a freezing cold day!!!

Man, what a nasty day it was here. Even with the sun shining brightly, it was freezing, freezing cold all day long. The wind was blowing like crazy, and it would blow all the snow right off the roof and into our eyes. Well, I have to say, that didn't happen too much cuz we weren't out there too much, hehehe! Mom let us all go in the kitchen cuz she was afraid we would get frostbite. I was soo cold I couldn't even walk cuz it hurt to put my feet in that freezing snow.
Soo, we had to entertain ourselves inside. I decided to do some new dance steps. Mom was playing with her camera so she even got a photo of me dancing. She wasn't listening to the good music though, it was some old songs from the 60's done by some old people. As a result, I had to think very carefully about the steps coming up so I had my tongue out to help me think. Of course, that is the photo that Mom used!
We also took a short nap with Mom on her nice, warm waterbed. It was short because Smokey uprooted a plant and Taylor brought it up on the bed and shared it with all of us. It was sooo fun to pull apart and chew up!!!
Yesterday we did have some fun in the sun and snow, however. Us toys got to go first so there were NO tracks in that whole field. We took care of that pretty fast! Mom kept thinking we were injured cuz as we were running along suddenly one of our legs would break thru the crust and we would look like we were going to crash on our head! It was pretty tiring, but I guess that was the point...Mom wanted us to get tired.

Overnight at Daycare. Isn't that an oxymoron??? At any rate, Mom left me and Tanner and Taylor in the daycare for TWO nights this week. She claimed it was because it was sooo nasty outside that we couldn't go out much and we had to stay in crates here at home so if we were in daycare we got to stay in a HUGE expen, actually THREE expens hooked together. Well, it was pretty fun the first day... we got to play with lots and lots of new toys and everyone loved on us. But, then there was a HUGE storm and no one came at all. Mom took us on a few breaks and she did put us outside and took some photos of me playing with Lola... did I mention, Lola was with us cuz Louie was at the vets? But, as soon as it got time to close Mom took Louie and went home and left us there. She even turned off the lights!!! I was so scared I didn't even dare climb out of the pen!! The next morning some other person that I didn't know came and cleaned us. Lola said her name was Laurie... I dunno cuz I never met her before. Anyway, finally, Mom came along, but then she left again and didn't come back until way later in the afternoon. She had a new sweatshirt for me and a dress for Lola and she and Laurie took some more photos. Tanner and Taylor also wore the same clothes. Oh yeah, Louie was back, too, so he and Lola were in a pen beside us. Well, Mom left us AGAIN, only this time Louie and Lola pushed their pen up against ours and made ours really small. Then, they kept pooping EVERYWHERE and it smelled REALLY BAD!!!
This morning Mom came first and as soon as she walked in the door, she held her nose and she took us all home and put us in our clean crates. Whew... we HATED that nasty smell!!! Then, Julie came along and brought Lola and Louie home and they went into their in/out pen cuz, apparently they can't stay clean all day like we can!
Tonight Mom came home and it was life as usual again. We were sooo happy to be home that we played and played and played and didn't even mess up the clean house!!!! Hope she doesn't leave us over in that smelly place again!

Mom didn't let me go play in the snow yesterday cuz I was freshly groomed for going to the show today. Well, last night it was snowing like crazy so Mom shut off her alarm and we all slept late. That would have been okay cuz we didn't have to be there at any certain time so I still thought we were going to go.
Well, now Mom has decided she is just plain too lazy to drive all that way just so I can see the handler girl again. She says our house is way dirty and she is going to stay home and clean our house instead of spending the time and gas money to drive for four hours.
I sure hope there is a trip down to the snow field, aka lab pen, somewhere in her day or I am going to be really upset!!

Mom gave me a spiffy bath and blow dry today so I would be nice and clean tomorrow when I visit the handler girl at the dog show. Well, since my hair was all nice and straight, she wouldn't let me go play in the snow cuz she said that would make me all curly again. Frankly, it was still a bit nippy out there so I enjoyed my time in the house, although Tanner and Taylor said they had a great time.
Of course, now that I am all clean and spiffy it has started to snow again and Mom said she will not drive down there IF it keeps snowing or there is snow on the roads. She said it would be different if one of us was showing, but we are only going to visit. Oh well, we shall see, I guess!
Meanwhile, we are having fun playing in the house. Actually, Mom stuck us in our crates now for an after dinner nap and I am howling, hehehe! I tried whining, but was getting no response and no one else was whining with me so I started to howl and now everyone is howling, hehehe!

Today I learned how to swim! Sounds weird, but I discovered that the only way to get thru all that deep snow was to do the dog paddle. Mom said I looked just like I was swimming in the water. Guess what... it works the same way cuz if I forgot and lifted my head too high I would sink even deeper, just like in water.
Hey, by Summer I will know all about swimming and when I go for my first kayak ride I won't have to wear that big, heavy jacket Beanie told me about.
Hey, me and Tanner got Mom tonight!!! She left the bedroom gate open so poor Smokey wouldn't have to climb over it and Tanner and I discovered it was open. Wouldn't have been a problem, BUT... we had JUST come in from outside and were covered with snowballs, hehehe! We immediately hopped up onto that nice, warm waterbed and got comfy. Did you know that melted snow is WATER??? I know that now, hehehe!

Mom said she was going to take me to my FIRST dog show on Sunday. No, I am not showing, I am just going to look. I guess that could be fun, huh>
She said my former mom, the handler girl, will be there and she can see how I am doing living up here in the sticks.
Meanwhile, Mom is getting mad at me again. Today I learned how to climb out of the tall expens at work. Now, wouldn't you think that would make her happy not mad??? Doesn't make sense to me at all!!
Actually, it was kind of funny. She was working in the office at work and I was in the expen with Taylor and Tanner. Well, I was bored, so I climbed out. Trouble was, she had the main door closed between the front and the kennel. Soo, I had to wander all around until I discovered the gate at the far end of the building was open. Sooo, I went thru that, walked all the way down the hall and thru the grooming room and bathing room and thru the door into the front. Mom never looked up, until I saw a HUGE bird out there and had to bark at it. Mom saw me, jumped up and called me. Yeah, right, Mom... you catch me if you can!!!! I know you are gonna put me right back in the pen. Soo, she followed me back all the way thru all those rooms again and picked me up and put me back in the pen. Sadly, the next time I climbed out I made a mistake and ended up in the pen beside me with Barney and Ali instead of outside. I was nervous so I just got into their dog bed and took a nap. Growing up is sooo hard to do!!!

Well, I guess this is officially my home now and the newness has worn off or run out, whatever. You see, Mom has yelled at me TWICE in the last two days!!! Yesterday she yelled cuz she was brushing out my belly hair and she pulled a tangle. Soo, I got a little peeved and pretended I was going to attack her and bite her. Wow, she was NOT IMPRESSED!!! I told her I was just kidding and let her brush all the rest without a fuss. Hrrumph, you would have thought I had torn open her face or something, gee whiz! I was just kidding, Mom!!!
Today we all went down into the lab pen and after our trip down with all the toys, Mom let me and Tanner and Taylor go back down with Toto and Beanie and Ali cuz it was snowing big, huge flakes and she wanted some more photos. Well, it was fun, except TWICE, Toto tried to push me over!!! Beanie had already warned me that he was gonna try that, so I was prepared and I didn't fall, but... gee whiz! Anyway, when we came back inside, Mom put me and Tanner and Taylor in the expen for a nap. I was NOT sleepy, so I climbed over the pen and joined Toto and Beanie in their game of tug. Mom came and put me back in the pen. I climbed out, again. She told me "No," and put me back in. Well, the third time is the charm, and I was 3/4 of the way out when she YELLED at me!!! The NERVE! Doesn't she know I am new here and I don't know all the rules yet??? Harrumph, Gee WHIZ!!!
Soo, I took a LONG nap. Then, everyone started milling about cuz it's getting near suppertime and I climbed out, again!! Oops. Gee Whiz!!!

I forgot to tell you all... this morning I got a real mousie!!! I brought it into the house after we went out to do our morning business. I would have been able to keep it, too, but I made a mistake and dropped in on the floor and Mom saw it. She pounced on it!!! She must have been watching Toto cuz she got it really, really fast!
Mom said it was already frozed solid so one of the wild cats must have left it out in our pen. I dunno about that, maybe so, but it was really cold this morning...maybe it flash froze when I caught it????

Hrrumph! I was a diary daily pick today, my first EVER, and Mom forgot all about it and she never even told me until just now. That is not really very nice, I think! I would have written a nice diary entry all about it, but now it is way, way too late. Oops, Mom just told me that some of you pups are in different times and so it's probably NOT too late to talk about it.
So, I would have been sure to thank you all for your visits... yesterday I reached 100 which I think is pretty good for being on here only one week! Of course, since I can't visit my own page, I have all you guys to thank for the visits, so thanks!
Today I went on over to daycare for a visit. Mom let us three (and Barney, too,) play outside for a pretty long time this afternoon. That yard is really big over there AND its got a great fence so Mom left us out there all alone. We ran and ran and ran!!!
We didn't get to go on too many breaks today cuz there were tons of daycare dogs and they were all barking and barking and Mom says they bark more when we are out loose. Mom was proud of me cuz I didn't bark at them!!!
Well, gotta go play now, time for our house freedom!! Thanks for visiting my page today!

Well, I have now been here one week! I sure like it here so I guess I will stay. Mom and the handler girl came up with a "official" show name for me yesterday... it is Caprice Corvette Red at Nyleve. Pretty cool, huh? Yup, corvette red is a perfume, cuz Mom names all her dogs with perfume names. And, she says it's as close to owning a red corvette as she will ever get, hehehe!
This morning Mom didn't have to go to work again. Right after she got up and was still drinking her coffee, someone came to visit her. So, she let me and Tanner and Taylor out to visit, too. We had plenty of fun visiting, but Tanner loved her the best so she and Mom decided he is going to be living with her, not this Friday but the next one coming. That will be nice for him, nice for the lady, and nice for me cuz that means I will have Taylor all to myself!!!
After Mom finally finished cleaning the house and putting all the Christmas stuff away she took us down to the lab yard. It was hard to walk down there cuz it was all frozen into big lumps, but it was dry so the snow didn't stick to my coat. I had a pretty good time!
Now, after we eat our dinner we are going to all work really hard to mess the house back up again, hehehe! What a great new place to live!!!

Wow, I never realized that playing in snow could be soo fun!! We went out for a while yesterday afternoon, but Mom kept us up in the top pen cuz I was new and Tanner was recovering. Well, Beanie taught me all about running and playing in the snow and Tanner was fine so this morning Mom let us all go down into that lab yard. It was very, very warm outside so the snow was melting really fast, which made it wetter, but we still had a ball!! Mom tried to get some video again but we just mill about when she's doing that, so she gave up and went back to the regular camera. We had sooo much fun!!!
But, now I am wet and it's cold. Mom says she understands cuz she sat in a chair down in the field and she has a very cold, wet bottom!!! She said maybe we can nap this afternoon cuz it's supposed to rain lots. That would be nice.
Meanwhile, I am still having a little barking issue. NO ONE here barks at anything. I HAVE to bark at Smokey, and everything else I see that doesn't look normal. Mom says the quickest way to get me to stop is to ignore it, so no one is paying any attention to me right now! I must admit, barking isn't much fun if no one jumps up to see what I am barking at!!!

Well, I sure like it here and it is very exciting... frankly, I was getting a bit bored at my old home cuz the handler girl had sold my brother and I was all alone. I don't think alone is a word that Mom even knows... we are NEVER all alone, here!!
Today, after my breakfast, Taylor and I went over to daycare. Mom put us in an expen that was taller than the one at home. I tried to climb out, but I just didn't have enough strength to hook my legs over the top so I gave up. Taylor was okay, but then Mom got Bubbles and put her with us, too. We had plenty of fun all day long. We went on a few breaks, but Mom wouldn't let me run around everywhere cuz she says I am still playing hard to catch... what does she expect, I don't really know her yet!!!
After work we came home and had supper. I went in with Tanner and Taylor to eat. Tanner didn't try to eat me and he was feeling better so Mom let us all out with everyone tonight. I paced around a bit and kept lying at Mom's feet. She wanted me to lie in a dog bed cuz the floors are cold, but I wasn't sure which one was mine. Finally, she got a little one from the closet and I jumped right into it. I guess that one is mine, huh? A few times Mom put her hand down and I came over to visit her so she would pick me up and give me some lovin. Apparently, my bro Beanie gets a bit jealous cuz each time he LEAPED right up onto Mom's lap and demanded she love on him, too. It's okay, I don't mind sharing. I guess he didn't mind, either cuz he got plenty comfy up there.
Finally, I was yawning and yawning and Tanner was feeling bad again so Mom put us to bed. I am sleeping in the crate again, but only cuz she is afraid I will climb out of the pen in the middle of the night. Well, I might???
Mom says tomorrow I can go to work with Beanie. That will be fun, I guess. He must still be jealous cuz I can see him from my crate and he is absolutely killing a toy in there. He's throwing it way up in the air, then pouncing on it like he is a cat! Then, he looks in at me, like he's inviting me to play with him. Smart boy, that Beanie!!!

Mom says she might have to rethink that diary title... she put me in the expen to eat my dinner and I climbed right out of it!!! She hopes I won't be rambling all over the place!!!
Anyway, I just got here. So far I have met all the little guys except Tanner. Mom said he's not feeling good tonight and since we are both boys she decided to put the meeting off until later. Everyone else is pretty neat, EXCEPT... I am not sure what that black, fuzzy thing is (he was eating MY dinner!), and there is another one, I think it's a dog but he doesn't have any hair except on the top of his head. Not a problem, I guess, cuz he's friendly enough but he sure doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before!!!!
Well, I gotta go explore some more, then take a nap. I am very tired! Catch ya later!
