Mom put my Christmas collar on today. I have a new coat, I'll have to get a pic of me in it. Every where I go people comment on it. It's made like a horse blanket. Cause I'm long but skinny Mom had to get the large and shorten the straps. It's navy blue and I love it!

Now, I have been celebrating for awhile now. Last Thursday, I got to go on errands with Mom. She always takes me down the curviest road in town. It cuts through the oldest and most affluent neighborhood. Which is fun because there's a lot of joggers and their dogs on that street. I like to bark and get their perfect little best obedience schooled and town and country haircut doggies all upset. What snobs! The girl dogs thank they are so above me!! And the Boy dogs well they like me. Mom gets a little embarrassed by my barking but then again she thanks its funny too. Mom says that really is the only street in town I show my butt on.

Then, I got to go on a road trip with Mom, Grandma and Grandpa and Buddy last Sunday. They got lost and I barked at a police men! What fun. We went to several different nurseries to look at plants.

I got me a few new toys too. I used to have a petsmart pink long dog called Sussie. Well, Mom bought me a new one but now Sussie is red. I got a new tennis ball form one of Mom's friends and a Frisbee from Grandma and Grandpa.

I can't believe it! I wrote about my lazy gotcha day. I guess Diary lady liked it.

Today, not such a good day. I spent most of the day under the bed. See some bad storms came through early. Mom usually locks me out of the bedroom when it's going to storm during the work day, but not today. See, I can some how get myself under the bed but not out from under the bed.

To say the least I was doing some serious whimpering when Mom came in the door. She came in the bedroom and said I figured you would be there. She knows me to well.

On a lighter note, ME and my sisfur Zoe (which by the way is Dreamgirl #2, right behind Eddy #1 Alexander's sisfur) This is a great great honor. Anyway, she decided we needed a gardening group. She said she noticed furlovers have a tendency to have a little dirt under their nails. It's a great group with links for poisonous plants, rose growing, Dave's Garden. We are discussing organic veggie and rose growing. There's a brag section and also a crying section for the "I have no idea what is wrong with my plant".

So, Mom came home from work and she ran to get our tree. At 3:37 she realized she forgot to take me to get my picture taken with Santa Paws. So we rush over to Petsmart. Good thing we live around the corner, 4 min. ride tops if you hit the lights wrong.

After getting slung around in the car, I then had a close and counter with a rott. Spooky! He was so big! Then because Mom didn't want my harness in the pic she left it off. Was this smart? No. Within five steps of the door I slipped out my collar and ran to sniff the butt of a very handsome Pit. His Mom joked about us knowing what to do. My Mom was trying not to panic as she grabbed me to put my collar back on. I know sometimes Mom wonders to herself why she takes me anywhere. Mom says me in Petsmart is a crap shoot. You never know how I'm going to act. There was probably 20 doggies there.

Mom finally figured out where Santa was. I waited till a big shy Golden Retriever got his picture taken and then it was my turn. I sniffed, and sniffed and sniffed some more! The teenager with the camera was asking if I was shy. Then Santa said he was peed on earlier. What???!!!! Somebody peed on Santa! It's coal for them! BOL! I jumped up on the seat with Santa but then Mom left me! Where you going Mommie??? She then got behind the teenager and started squeaking the toy. What the heck was that supposed to do? Anyway they took 6 or 7 shots.

Mom picked one and then we had to walk up to the front to pay them walk back to the back to get my pic. The pic they gave me was not the one Mom picked. She looked for the one she wanted on the camera and it was gone! So she took the one they had. As soon as we got in the car Mom said "Teenagers!"

Mom said we would go back this Saturday with either Buddy, CS or Lucius. She said it would be so cool if we all would get a good shot together. She also said "Fat chance". Man what a ugly clan we would be. Heehee.

Oh! And before we left I got nose to nose with an English Bulldog. I started to growl. Mom kept pulling me back saying "that's not her, that's not Harley" She knew that dog scared me and that was proof. All the dogs that was in there. Little dogs in carts, a big big big grey Pit named Sarge He probably weighed 85 pds easy, a little girl dog with red bows in her hair just dogs everywhere and I minded my own business till I seen the Bulldog.

PS- I embarrassed Mom by pooping in the parking lot. BOL!

As you guys might know Lil Bear, his Mom and his two kittyfur siblings are starting a new life in Washington state.

BUT the worst thing that could ever happen to a furparent happened. Somehow his sisfur Ingen escaped while staying overnight in Madison Wis. It terrifies me what could happen to this very lost and scared kitty. Some people are speculating that she will even try to go back home to Mich. This big move of the whole family was supposed to be a good thing and now it has became a nightmare.

She has been posted on the local Craig's list. The shelters have all been contacted and I'm sure she's put fliers up. Please if you have friends in or near Madison Wis. that you contact them and let them know about her.

We have got people emailing all the cats in the madison area how is members of catster. I will start by concentrating on the dogs who seem to have active pages. There is 448 dogs in that area.

I know we haven't been around lately and I'm truly sorry about that. I've been enjoying my summer and the cats hog up the computer all the time. Zach thanks they need the computer more than me cause they are more popular. I tell them if they would share, maybe I would have more friends!

Anyway, Tux wrote about his troubles in his diary. But to make things short and sweet...he's seeing the light but he doesn't want to. He has recently been diagnosed with acute kidney failure. So now he takes in fluids and has two more pills to take. the problem is his brain is telling him not to eat. Which means it's difficult to get him to take his pills and to get him to eat.

Tux you've got to eat! You've got to take your pills. Mom had a thought yesterday while they were over here at our house. Doc said you can sprinkle his kidney pills on food (if you can get him to eat) Mom said what about a dropper. Dilute the pill in water and give him a two or three droppers worth ever once in a while.

Doc also told Grandma and Grandpa to give him Ensure and Baby food.

Our main worry is Doc is going to be out of town on vac. So please please purrty please keep us in mind. Mom is so afraid things will go bad while Doc is gone.

The storm wasn't that bad for us. We live in the center of N.C.

But, please whimper for the kits and doggies who have had a hard time with the storm and of course the humans with them too. Zoe just wrote a diary and I asked her if I can post it and she said yes. So here it goes...

Just seen a pic of a house burned up and this was the write up underneath it.....

"Firefighters hose down the smoldering remains of of a house in Rodanthe, N.C. destroyed by fire during Hurricane Irene. Roger and Celia Meekins barely escaped their home during the height of the storm when they realized their home in Rodanthe, N.C. was ablaze. Their neighbors Heather Fleming and Jim Meyer helped them out of the water after they exited the burning structure. The flame became so intense the four made a swim/walk through the five foot deep storm surge to a neighbors home about 100 yards away. They also has three dogs in tow."

Thank God some people stayed!

Yes it is the same Rodanthe as in the movie "Night in Rodanthe"
Great movie with ironically a hurricane in it. Richard Gere and Diane Lane fall in love. Good movie if you like romance but feel a good cry is needed.

If you wish to see the pics of whats left of the outer banks here's the web address just pan down and you see Irene lashes NC Coast. Of course, the other storm pics are amazing too....

Good news I'm learning to swim! Mom is going to put pics up in a sec. I'm still a little scared but I did jump in after my Frisbee twice last Sunday. Mom bought me a vest thinking that would help build my confidence up. How? By not sinking!

Mom also has put the vest on me during a really bad storm the other night and it did calm me down. She was thinking it would work like that Thunder Shirt on tv. But, when Mom came home Wed afternoon I was under the bed again. I can't stand storms.

Now, the advice I need....my cousin a 8 month old half boxer half bull dog get his back leg ran over by a car yesterday. They have a rod in his leg to help heal the bone. Mom told her cousin, (the closest thing to a brother she has) that he was lucky that's all the damage that was done. The question we have is there a calming solution, like feliway for dogs? He has to stay still and not lunge forward for 6 weeks. I repeat he's a puppy. His Dad has already borrowed a bigger crate for him to stay in but when he's out he's got to stay calm. Any suggestions?

Mom and Dad noticed a knot on my leg, two weeks ago and went straight into a panic. Last week Doc seen me. Mom automatically said lets test it for cancer. Well, my surgery was supposed to be today (Tuesday) but I wore down my paw Sat. night and Mom thought Doc should see it, just in case.

Mom also had some down time to day at work so she did some research about lumps in dogs. Mom jokes about being one of their panicky Mom's at the vets. Mom always thinks the worst, but I say that's a good thing because Doc gives her props for catching things on us early. I'm going to let Mom tell you...

I did a little research today and read up on symptoms of cancerous lumps in animals. I learned a lot. I decided to talk to Doc some more and also get him to check her paw. Her paw is fine. He said they make a spray that can be put on their paws to protect from wear. They were out though :(

Sense I got one of the very last appointments, we had the time to have a heart to heart, he said personal, he would wait and keep an eye on it to see if it changes. He said it was a good sign that it's not painful and doesn't seem to be attached. He said so many of these aren't cancerous. He said if you can't sleep at night cause you're worried then do it be he recommended waiting and see strategy.

I'm such a worry wort kind of person, that I know I have a tendency to blow things bigger than they are in my head, especially if it's about my animals or work. I knew that I had agreed to go ahead earlier without really knowing the odds. And the Doc did tell me last week that I could wait.

I decide today to wait. So, I guess it's good news, that the surgery is off for right now. Was that right? I'm thinking that if it's still there with change or no change having it cut off maybe Aug or Sept. anyway. BUT If it changes or starts feeling like it's a danger I'll give Doc the green light to go ahead.

What would you do? Go ahead or keep an eye on it. Remember Doc said keeping an eye on it over the next two months is what he would do.

Tux is skipping meals. He isn't eating well at all. he turned down bacon this morning! Who does that???? Even My cats beg for bacon.

Remember, Tux is 17, which is very old.

He does eat over here with me. But that could be a social thing.

Could his stomach hurt? Is his food making him feel bad? You know adults when they get older they have to avoid certain foods. Could this be it? Does he need pepcid or something like that?

Mom is going to go get some high quality food tomorrow and see if he will eat it. He last seen the vet in the fall, but she will take him. Mom figures if Grandma and Grandpa told her about him not wanting to eat all the time she figures it's pretty bad.

Turns out there's an app for the android that is about dog fighting. We fear this will glorify dog fighting. Funny, I've been talking about this all day long.

It teaches feeding fighters, fighting itself and the training of the dogs. This type of media fuels animal abuse and breed specific legislation, which costs innocent dogs their lives.

We went camping this last weekend and Mom said I showed my butt big time. It rained all Thursday night and all day Friday, but Saturday was gorgeous! Mom and Dad had a job to do first thing Sat. morning so I was dropped at the house to hang with the cats till they got done. When they picked me up to go back, they had the boat with them. We dropped it and Dad off at the marina. Me and Mom took the truck to the camper. Now the plan was to jump on the boat at the pier near our camp site but there was already two boats there. SO......

Me and Mom had to walk by toddlers, kids playing, 4 dogs, ducks and about 50 scared adults in the center part of the camp ground. I was doing good till a little Yorkie started barking at me, then it's buddy decided to join in and it was over then. The hair on my back stood up, and I started showing my teeth and barking back. Mom said she had to get the tight grip on my leash and bulldoze me throw it all. Toddlers are being snatched up by Mom's, kids are being yelled at to avoid me, there was two Golden Retrievers which normally I would have loved to be friends with, but I was still mad at that Yorkie for cussing me, soI barked at them to. They just wagged their tails at me. Mom called the whole scene was the walk of shame...for her.

Then I put my nail in one of the boat seats trying to get to some ducks, I could tell it made Dad mad but he hasn't said anything sense Mom said she would get the guy at work to patch it. Then that night Grandma and Grandpa came over with Tux to cook out. I loved seeing Tux as usual, but I was busy barking at a Dobbie that was a puppy. He kept being walked back and forward in front of me. Mom said she was going to put me in the camper if I didn't straighten up. The Dobbie didn't say a word so I looked like the bad guy in all of this. The Dobbie left, so I was good then.

Latter that night, it was eating time. Mom was in the camper checking the food to make sure it was done when.... I houdinied for the first time out of my harness! Grandpa tried catching me but too late, my lightening speed had kicked in. I ran right up to the camper door, begging. Everybody laughed about me doing that cause I could have went and found that little Yorkie but my stomach ruled my brain at that point.

Mom said next time she's going to take my fresbie to distract me from any barking furbabies. That's what she does at Petsmart to keep me in line and it works like a charm. The only time I ever barked at Petsmart, it was at my own reflection in the front window. Silly me! I don't fell too bad, I chatted with a friend Sunday and she said she would have been the same way.

I'm soooo sleepy, but I've got toothpicks holding my eyelids up just so I can tell you I had a blast! First we went to Grandmas and Grandpas to pick up Grandpa. I played with the frisbee for awhile, got to play with Tux for awhile.

Then we went to the lake! Wow! Our boat is so pretty. I just loved sitting and looking around. Hey did you know that you get the same wind blown effect like you do hanging your head out of the window? Mom forgot my Dogogles, but that's okay. Mom is superwoman already even if she forgets something.

The lake had lots of boats, people, and ducks and birds. I loved it, can't wait to go back!

BUT WAIT! THERE"S A BONUS...
I keep hearing about this ‘extreme supermoon’ on March 19th. Mom noticed Friday morning on the way to work how awesome the moon looked. Who knows what this celestial event will bring. On the old family land out in the country, Mom and Dad is going to watch this spectacular lunar sight. As usual Diamond gets to go! Mom hopes the Bobcat is somewhere else this weekend.

Richard Nolle – an astrologer with a dramatic, artistic way about him, was the one to coin the phrase "Super moon". Nolle believes the upcoming full moon “lunar perigee†– the point in which the moon’s orbit is closest to the earth – will bring an array of disastrous events. Does anybody remember Bruce Almighty when Jim Carrey brought the moon in closer.........hum.....

“perigee†is derived from the Modern Latin perigeum meaning “about, near.†â€Lunatic†is also of Latin descent and, according to legend, refers to someone who goes mad with the changes of the moon.

The Algonquin tribes called the super moon the “full worm moon.†The name refers to the change in temperature and the oncoming spring thaw; earthworm casts appear, promising the return of the robin. Anybody remember Grumpy Old Men........turn the light of you'll scare them.........

Tribes north of the Algonquin knew this phase as the “Full Crow Moon,†which refers to the cawing of crows – signaling the end of winter. What was Zach's Irish name Mom.....Bryne (means Raven)

Other moon phrases...“blue moon,â€"flower moon" “harvest moon.†Blue moon is Mom's favorite cause she's actually seen it do its work first hand. The blue moon is accompanied with the tides coming in at their highest points. When Mom was a kid, they were on the south end of Carolina Beach and the tide came in so fast and so high everybody had to drive on the hilly sand dunes so they would not get caught in the undertow of the tide. This portion of the beach is 5 miles long and is only open for 4x4s.

Blue moon, the third full moon in a three-month calendrical season that has four full moons. Blue moons occur on average every 2.7 years, the next of which is due in August 2012.

This is Mommy's story so I'm going to let her tell it. This will cheer everybody up.

Mom- There's a sweet old man at work named Rudy. He's in his 60's and says that they will have to kick him out, to get him to leave. "no retirement for this old man" he says. Anyway, at Thanksgiving one of the Grandchildren left the backyard gate open and all 3 of his dogs ran away. He looked and looked. He found two of them together and brought them home. Daisy, the Golden Retriever could not be found. He went to the animal shelter and talked to "the fine young people there." They had not seen her. A week later he goes back and was lucky enough to talk to the Dog Catcher for his area. She said she hasn't seen her either but she'll keep an eye out.

Now, know that we live in a large metropolis with one main extremely busy animal shelter. Thank God, the place is huge cause the animal shelters in surrounding counties are poor and small. The poor animals in those shelters have a week to get adopted. Sad I know. Zoe promised an uplifting story. So, let me quit preaching. I'm just saying, them helping an old fart find his favorite dog is very, very sweet.

Now Rudy called the animal shelter so much they knew him by his voice. Finely, they had a lead. Right after Christmas the girls said that the dog catcher had something to tell him. So, he ran up there when she was in. She told him she had seen and tried to catching Daisy. She told him what neighborhood it was. So, he started riding through that neighborhood weekly. But, still no luck.

This morning Rudy came up to me and told me he had found Daisy Sunday morning. He was in that neighborhood and asked a guy that was working in his yard, if he had seen her? He said yes. The guy said the kids had been leaving food for her but she was to skittish to let them catch her. He told Rudy where she was hanging out at.

Rudy went there and he could see her sitting on top of a hill. He called her and she didn't come. So, he made a clicking sound that he does when he's going to feed his dogs. She came running down the hill and jumped on him. He said "if you were a poorly type chap she would have knocked you over." She gave him lots of kisses and jumped right in his truck. He kept saying "she remembered me." I told him of course she did your her Daddy.

He said at first the other dogs wasn't sure of her, he had let them smell each other through the fence. As soon as they started wagging their tails he let her go in with them. He said he's weekend "was like a family reunion." He said she's lost a little weight, so Monday her Mommy took her to the vet, got her checked out. Bought her lots of toys and "She had a good meal." He's so happy and I'm soooo happy for him.

Remember, this pup had been lost sense Thanksgiving, living on that hill at the end of a neighborhood, missing her family. And almost 4 long months later she heard something, looked up and seen her Daddy! Miracles do happen!

Lucius has been home for two days now. The vet never found anything wrong but a bad Vertibra. They gave him some pain meds for his back and steroids to get him to eat. He's doing better. Dad went to see him yesterday and said he was jumping around (which is a no,no because he's on limited movement per Doc.)
excited. Mom really believes he's not eating because of depression. He just not used to being alone.

Mom needs your help. Brent says he can't afford another animal right now and doesn't want one right now but Mom knows that's what Lucius needs (or his Daddy to stay home with him from time to time. Again, Brent is 25 and is a cad like Zach is.) She knows the meds run out one day and then what? He become depressed and quit eating again. The vets found nothing. So it has to be mental.

Anyway, she needs to help somehow. She thought about getting him a shelter brofur or sisfur with a hefty Petsmart gift card. But Mom thinks that's being pushy. Maybe, they should just MAKE Brent bring him to stay with us on the weekends while he's out being 25. They could be weekend parents instead of Grandparents (Dad worries that then, he will be ours for good, and that causes a whole new issue with Diamond cause she gets snappy after a week of sharing).

What should we do for Lucius?

I don't know the full details, Lucius's Dad, Brent, my human step brother isn't a big talker. Especially about matters of the heart. Lucius is an adopted Boston Terrier from a rescue organization in Raleigh. My step brother went down there with a friend to check out another dog (for the friend) and he seen Lucius there. It was instant love. Like most singles with pets in their 20's, Lucius has helped his Dad through some rough times and two breakups with major girlfriends.

When he first got Lucius he was moving in with us to stay while he was working on his new house. Like most projects it took longer than it was supposed to. So, Lucius lived with us for 6 months. He is part of our family. When Brent has to go out of town for work, we keep Lucius.

Lucius has a Mommy too. Brent's major girlfriend #2. She gets visitation with him. So, lets not forget to purr for her too.

Okay, now that you know the story. Boston Terriers have chronic stomach issues. And Lucius has had plenty through the years. Lucius is 5 years old BTW. Our Dad told Mom on Thursday that Lucius is sick again. She asked "is it his stomach" and he said "yes". So, she didn't think anything about it. A $200. vet bill and some meds will take care of it she thought. Well, last night Dad came in and said Little Lucius might die. Naturally, Mom got Brent on the phone right away. Lucius went to Doc. Thur. evening and Doc had no answers. Friday he went back for a Colonscopy. Nothing was found. They sent him home with some special food and told Brent if he's not doing better to bring him back Monday and they will do X-rays to see if they can find blockage that way. Brent says he whimpers when you touch his stomach. He did poop and eat a little Saturday morning. Brent says he was drinking water like a mad man but that all stopped come afternoon and ate or drank nothing Sat. night. Brent is coming over this afternoon, so Mom will ask how he's doing today.

Our Dad has a big heart and can't handle death at all. He's also talking about Marley and Me a lot, too. He's very worried. Mom is thinking about how special that bond is with your very first fur roomie. It's your own house, and the only person there waiting for you is your pet. What a blessing they are in that time of your life.

So, please bark and if you have purrers in your family ask them to purr a prayer for little Lucius and everybody his presence has touched.

P.s. Mom has been meaning to do a new video of us, after hearing the news last night, she went ahead and did that. At the beginning and at the end is clips of me and Lucius wrestling on the bed.

I wish I could go to the movies with my humans. I love movies. While watching tv with the cats. We talk about the commercials and previews for movies all the time. I guess we picked it up from Mom and Dad cause they do too.
I'm looking forward to Little Red Riding Hood the most. Mom said even if it turns out to be a bad movie it looks like it's going to be a feast for the eyes. I think it looks like a very cool movie.I decided to make my page a Red Riding Hood page in celebration of such a good movie coming out. My playlist has my favorite movie songs on it except "Dog days are over" I just like that song. Zach is curious about Cowboys and Aliens. He's an action freak. He's got a cool page this week too, but it's a little scary. He's the Fire Starter.
Mom and Dad have already made plans to see the new Fast and Furious, what is it "fast and five", I like those movies too and mom I want to see it. He's a therapy dog, he's a Canine Good Citizen, and here's the part I really like he can pull twenty times his body weight. Hot dog!
His name is Angus. He is so cute. I don't know him but look forward to doing exactly that.
Know, do you blame for asking him.

P.S. We haven't seen Yellow lab sense Tuesday. Maybe he found his way home. Probably best, cause Mom said she was going to try to feed him when she seen him again.

Zach, my brother, the cat, has wrote in his diary about our intruders, on our land. I'm not sure if they are up to no good but like him, I would love to know why they are here. First, there's a Morris looking cat that keeps taunting him by sunning on our deck right in front of them and then laughing at him when he has a fit.
Second, there's a Yellow Lab that's been hanging out in front of our house. Mom and Dad has even wondered what he wants. He has a collar, so he's not a stray. The other night Zach(and Sophie Bean) got mad at me for just whimpering at him. I told Sophie he's kinda cute. But, she told me to run him off before Mom and Dad start giving that dog my loving.
Well, he's been by our house every night sense. He just stands out in the road barking at me, not a mean bark, a come out and play bark. Mom said when he woke us up at 3 something in the morning, sat. It reminded her of a young boy throwing rocks at a school girls window. Dad had opened the big wood door and we where all looking out the glass screen door at him including Zach. He just stood in our front yard looking back at us. Then he started barking at me again.
Saturday afternoon he was out there again sitting in our neighbors yard across the street looking towards ours. What does he want? Does he like me. Our neighbor said he's being bad using her little Celia to make Diamond jealous. P.S. I put his picture on my page today.

In our neighboring county the poor furs have no chance. It's a tiny shelter for a very big county. They are state ran, so there's no money going into the place. Mom said that if and that's a big if, Diamond wins, we would donate the money to that shelter. She heard they have a building fund for a second building. Mom has a problem with one of their policies but who cares if it saves lives. That's all she wants anyway.
Here's the link to Diamonds page this week voting ends 2/1, then we will have another link to give you.

I've got a new car to ride in!See, mom and dad are gear heads and speed demons. You know, the kind of people that go to car shows when it warms up or ride their bikes through the mountains.
Dad came in today and scooped up mom "I've got a surprise". And they were out the door.
Dad bought mom a rare Trans Am.
Now, the Beamer is referred to as Diamond's car. Not moms, not dads but mine. Can I trade with you mom? I want this car to be mine? When you take it to the show, can I ride with you instead of dad? I'll ride in the front seat beside mom. Can you see me now, with my new bronze doogles on too. All the dogs will be sweating my ride!

I heard the other morning on the news. This guy used the phrase Cat's pajamas. What tha? I've never seen a cat with pajamas on. I could see Zach in a Hugh Hefner type smoking jacket and Zoe in those pajamas with the little feet on them but they don't have any. This bothered me all day, I wondered why don't dog's have pj's.
I asked Mom as soon as she walked in the door that afternoon. I needed answers! Mom explained it's a saying were people know your talking about something that's the best. Like "Her pecan pie is the cat's pajamas." She asked me if I understood, I said I think so. Zach's was on the table, just a rolling at me saying "see the smoke coming out of her ears!" Then when Mom left the room, Zach looked down at me and told me "I told you that dog's are inferior to us cat's, our phrases are good and dog phrases are bad things." I left the room.
Why can't there be a dog's pajamas or dog's bark? So, this is what I came up with:
Dog's pajamas: the best activity ever

Example: Grandma and Grandpa came over today. Tux and I played in the back yard for what seemed like forever. It was the dog's pajamas! Or
When I was running in the baseball field today and this gorgeous Great Dane walked by and said "That looks like the dog's pajamas." I thought he looks like the dog's bark to me.

This is the email I got from my good friend from brisbane, in response to the letter I sent yesterday..........

wow, your mom and dad are awesome. :) it must be great helping people in need. and yes, your mom is absolutely right about people being amazing in times of tragedy and disaster. i remember how America was immediately after 9/11 as well... i was just a high schooler on the other side of the country then, but i was amazed at how the country came together. i'd never seen anything like that before.

it's very much like that here now. over the past weekend thousands of volunteers from various places in the state have come to Brisbane and helped people and businesses that they'd never met before clean and throw out things. it's very impressive and Queenslanders + Australians have taken a lot of pride in it.

if only people would be so nice and helpful all the time.

we are very lucky in that our apartment building isn't near the Brisbane River or a creek. so many people and businesses weren't so lucky, including several RSPCA shelters in the state. thankfully all of them were able to evacuate the animals into volunteer foster care before the shelters flooded... Many people & businesses don't have flood insurance at all and the RSPCA won't be receiving any flood aid from the government, unlike other organizations/companies. i'm afraid that for many people things will continue to be hard for a while to come...

me, Fae and the other human are really thankful for your thoughts and concern.

Such good news!!!!!!!!!

Mom heard from one of our aussie mates today. They are doing good. Their apartment was high enough that they didn't have any great water damage. But there's a lot of work to be done. Mom sent them a letter back. It didn't take long till she started preaching, (mom is kinda long winded anyway). She decided she needed to spread these words of encouragement to everyone cause she kept talking about people coming together after a tragedy strikes a country. Here's the note she sent, read it, it'll make you proud.

"We are so happy to hear from you. Mom and Dad are actually in the restoration business and they can tell you, you've dodged a bullet with no damage to your home. Insurance companies here will try to get out of paying for flood damage every time and are successful the majority of the time. After Katrina, the hurricane that flooded our gulf states a few years back, the big wigs in Washington stepped in and told the insurance companies they had to help pay for some of the damage.
I heard you guys lost power for awhile. Me and Ka-zar was worried but I'm not now. We wish we were there so we could help with the cleanup. Mom always want to help, and a lot of times she can't because she lives to far away or she can't get out of working. They were packing to go help in N.Y. after 9/11 when the news reported that they weren't letting anybody in N.Y. That was a sad time for all of us. But a blessing came out of it, Mom said that's the only time that the whole country was one thought, one mind. People came together. May that blessing of oneship spread through your country now. It's a great (brief but great) feeling, seeing people being nice and helpful to each other. It makes you proud.
When mom would hear about people driving hours to the gulf this year to help clean up the oil spill in the gulf and she would start crying out of pride. Remember, tragedy is always followed by people helping each other, which mom wish people were always like that.
We got in the restoration business to help people. Yah, the money is good but there's a lot of restoration snake oil sellers out there, so we wanted to be the honest restoration company. Mom's part in the business is to help the families adjust to the changes in their life. She always tell people "this is temporary, it's going to be a lot of stress, but be glad your safe, and your home will better than it was before. That's our promise." So we aren't there with you but maybe you can tell a neighbor the same thing to make them fell better."

In the wake of the Az. shootings, we all, most remember, we are all in the same boat. So when someone can't paddle anymore, someone needs to jump in and help, even if it's just a hug or a prayer.

Mom cried today. One of Zach's fur corralled friends died today. She wrote about it in his first diary hoping someone would see it and send over their caring words. Mom says it's always heartbreaking to know someone is grieving over a pet that's dear to them.
Same old same old, around here otherwise. I got to stay outside with dad for awhile. He worked on the cars. Mom did laundry off and on all day. I kept hearing "Zach off". That's when Zach jumps in the laundry basket before she can fold the clothes. Zoe slept all day. I didn't tell you I got to ride today. Dad took me to auto zone, two different times.

This is Diamond's mom writing in the diary today. I did not share this poem with my family, I felt it was to saddening for them. I found the poem in Queen Gracie's diary. She is a paw pal of Diamond's. The poem takes you through every emotion I could think of, but yet so horribly true it has to be passed around. It left me heartbroken, to think about the helpless lives who aren't saved at shelters across the country. The reason they wound up there in the first place.
We must demand that our shelters be no kill. We must stand up for the abused animals. We must demand stiffer laws for abusers. We must educate people about the spay and neutering programs. We must stand up for the defenceless animals our world. We must stand up!
To think of all the animals on the earth that are killed for big business and small business everyday. What is going to be the next animal to become extinct. Will it be a certain kind of whale, tiger or elephant. Could you imagine generations growing up looking at these animals at museums like we look at dinosaur bones. We must support our wildlife groups. We must.
We owe it to the animals, all of them, tame..wild..little..large..flesh eaters or herbivores and all animals in between.
My final feelings on the poem, is that it has inspired me. And that it will send you down the same road of emotions that I felt. That's why it should be on billboards across the nation. Thank you, Queen Grace.

Panic has struck our house. Mom going in, out, in, out of the door always having bags in her hands when she comes back. Which of course, I've got to sniff, you never know it might be something to eat or better a new toy. Dad is working in the garage, which I like being out there with him except he's heater scares me. I think I'll just sit on the couch with the cats and stay out of their way. Oh, tux came by the last two nights and we played in the back yard. His sweater isn't fitting him right. Mom says she's getting him a new one for christmas but that's our secret. Wonder what she's giving me? Hopefully, not another cat.

I didn't do my entry in last night cause I was so tired after my ride. We went to the gas station I barked at one guy coming out and then dad barked at some guy trying to run over the front of our car. I'd tell you what he said but I only know a few human words. I can tell you this he was mad.
Then I seen two little girls in the car beside us at a light. "look momma" I barked "They are so pretty". Momma told me to quit "barking at those little girls". But mom I was using my inside voice. Well, anyway, my humans were focused on the car itself. It was nice with a big back seat for me.
On my grandparents road dad got a call, and mom started singing. again I don't speak human but I picked up on... to the country.. eat..peaches. Hum, peaches.
When I got to grandma's I ran hard to the front door. Grandpa opened it up for me. I woke up tux right away. He was happy to see me as usual. I ate his snacks on the floor, drank his water(He's got grrreat water) and aggravated grandma. It was fun!!
Today is a lazy day. Eat, sleep and well, you know.

I love sundays, everybody stays home on sundays. Mom cooks all day long, I can curl up with dad on the sofa while he watches television. Even the cats seem to be calmer on sundays. The only hitch in my day is it's a cold rainy day, you know what that means: wet paws.
I heard dad tell mom that brent's (my human brother) coming over for dinner. Maybe he'll bring lucius his boston terrier. I like him but he gets on my nerves sniffing me 24/7 and tearing up my toys. He's such a butt. MOM! HIDE MY TOYS!!! Last time he stayed over for a couple days, mom bought me a brand new jeffery (kong giraffe) and lucius a kong dumbball and he proceeded to eat the hoof of MY jeffery when no one was looking. It made dad mad, cause we hadn't had our new toys for longer than 10 min. Okay, so I wanted he's dumbball, which is why I didn't have my jeffery with me but still to tear up my toy is just rude. Anyway, I still enjoy seeing him and I know that when we don't see him, mom and dad misses him.
