Hi pals!!!

I hope everyone is looking forward to summer. I have been watching the leaves start to bloom. You what happened a few weeks ago that really made me happy?

Birds came to visit!!!

I love to watch the birds, it's my favourite. A few weeks back we put a bird feeder out and all the birds came. I don't know here they were all winter, but I'm glad that they're here now.

Thanks pals for all of the birthday wishes. I got pawmails and rosettes and a awesome graphic from my friend Freckles. Dad and I went through all of them together.

You all are the best!!

My folks got me a big bag of pig's pieces. Both Riley and I love our pig's pieces. I also got several new toys including Frankenstein's monster and the Wolfman. The best gift was a long rawhide type treat. It was so long, that Mom broke it in half. I got one piece and Riley got the other. We both carried them around the house and we kept banging them against the door jams and stair spindles. It was really funny.

As soon as Riley and I found a good spot to eat them, they didn't last long.

I heard Dad talking about going to our breeder family on the weekend to celebrate with my sister Gretchen and brother's Tank and Ty. It's also Riley and my Mom, Miyah's, birthday on Monday. I hope we get to go because it's so much fun there.

Again, thanks pals for all of the birthday wishes. We love you all.

Your friend,
The Caileigh Girl

I ran my first 5K race on Saturday. It was for St.Paddy's day so Riley and I just had to take part.

The run was so much fun. I wanted to go faster but Dad couldn't keep up.

Don't tell him I said this, but Riley isn't a good runner. He just wanted to sniff things. I was focused and wanted to go like crazy.

Spring is almost here.

Big hugs to you all.

Yesterday, Riley and I went on a road trip to Elmira for a guide dog walk. After the walk we joined our pal, Mollie, and went to Drake's house.

Oh boy, there were birds flying around everywhere. I had a great time watching them.

Drake played ball with Dad and Riley and Mollie explored, dug a few holes and rested . . . okay, I dug a hole, too.

Hey pals,

This morning while Dad and I were snuggling (we snuggle every night), his phone started beeping real early.

Dad turned to me and said, "that's probably your friends sending you birthday wishes."

That's right, I'm two years old today. You'd never know that I was two. I'm on the small side for a Pointer. Just last weekend we went to visit my dog family and they have a new addition, my niece Gemma. She's four months old and almost the same size as me.

I'm a dainty girl.

Barking of my family, my bro, Ty, won BEST IN SHOW. That's right, you read that correctly. We're all so proud of him. My sis, Gretchen, said that he's even more difficult to live with now. All this showing is going to his big head.

I want to thank all my pals for sending me birthday wishes. My pal, Forrest, made me a beautiful graphic.

Riley and I enjoyed some birthday chicken this afternoon. Other than that I've been looking out the window at the birds. I love this time of year with all of the birds.

Thanks again, pals. We all love you.

Caileigh Girl!

The big fields are vast.

A great spot for Riley and I to just stretch our legs and run and run and run.

A few of our dogster pals have joined us out in the fields; both Drake and Mollie came late last summer, and Freckles came to visit at the beginning of fall.

Yesterday, Riley and I were out there just having a great time. There was briskness in the air that really gets your blood going.

At one point we were heading along a grassy path. On both sides of us were tall grasses and rows of bushes, their leaves just starting to come out. The wind danced through the tall grass and in unison they swayed back and forth.

Riley was a few steps behind me, a thick streak of black mud started on his left hip and went down his leg. It looked like he was wearing a leg warmer. Earlier he had ventured too close to a small pond and the ground under him gave way and one side sank into the mud.

Now, he was sniffing a hole that was just off the path. As I stood and watched him a very curious scent caught my attention. I raised my head and opened my nostrils wide. My liver, leather-like ears flapped in the breeze. The scent was strong.

I turned to follow it, off the path and into the woods it took me. It led me forward, under some dried brush and into a large opening of grass. In the distance I could hear the calls of my Dad and Mom.

"Caileigh", Dad called. The green leash that had been hooked to my collar now dangled in his hand.

"Caileigh", he called again, followed by a call from Mom.

Riley trotted over to both of them as if to say, "look at me, I'm a good boy. I didn't take off into the woods."

Dad and Mom stopped at the spot where they planned to leave the grassy path and start on the gravel trail.

"Look!" Mom shouted in excitement. " A deer!"

Dad looked through the branches of a tree and out into a large grassy area that ran parallel to the gravel trail. Bounding up and down was a large brown buck. Like a child on a pogo stick it went up and down. Without running the deer covered a large amount of ground simply by bounding. Its fluffy white tail contrasted the brownish tall grass.

Not far behind the deer, Dad say a small liver and white head.

"Caileigh's chasing it," Mom proclaimed.

I tore after that mighty beast, its fluffy tail just mocking me. That scent, the curious smell that had led me from the path was that of this monster. I just had to have it for myself. No Riley, no folks . . . just the Caileigh Girl.

I slipped into top gear and bore down on the deer. Dad began to run towards the gravel trail and as he did he watched me close the gap.

"That deer might turn on her and hurt Caileigh," Mom cried to Dad.

As I reached the end of the grassy field, the deer disappeared into the woods; its knowledge of the area far superior to mine. I stopped and tried to pick up the scent again, but it was gone. I looked around but I was alone.

I then heard Dad call me.

Next time you furry beast. Next time you will be mine.

I ran back to the gravel trail and greeted Mom, Dad and Riley.

"Did you see that?" I asked. "Did you see me chasing that beast?"

Riley ignored me. He played like he didn't have a clue what I was talking about. But I knew that Dad and Mom had seen me. I knew that they were proud of their Caileigh Girl.

I was sound asleep, lost in a dream. Although I don't specifically remember the dream it likely was one that involved running in the fields, hot on the trail of a good scent.

Beneath me was my Dayzee-made blanket. Surrounding me the thin black grates of my crate. Unlike a young Riley, I love my crate. All you need to do is show me a few treats, milk bones, and off I run to the crate.

Sound asleep I was. Even in deep sleep, my keen ears are at work. Scanning for any noise that requires my attention, but mostly hoping to hear the arrival of my Mom or Dad.

On this day, I heard something else. A faint rustle at first, but soon the rustle got louder. My ears triggered me to awaken. I sat up and tilted my head to the side in an attempt to pick up the sound better.

There it was again. The sound of bones . . . milk bones being shaken inside of a box. I know that sound.

My crate is located in the family room, which is above the garage. From my vantage point I can peer down the stairs and see small areas of the kitchen and hallway.

I sat motionless, my head tilted . . . waiting for the sound.

Then I caught a glimpse, a fleeting picture of what was taking place.

It was Riley. My uncle, my bro, my best friend.

In his mouth I saw a read box—a milk bone box.

He stopped in view. For a moment he looked up and we locked eyes. Then I heard the rustle of the bones inside the box as he gave it a mighty death shake. He sauntered out of view.

I let out a high-pitched bark and then a series of them. I pleaded with Riley to let me out of my crate . . . to share his catch with me. Just like out in the field, my dear uncle wasn't about to share his find with me at all. No, he was content on having it all to himself.

I knew he had gone to his doghouse under the dinning room table.

I listened.

The sound of cardboard being shredded reverberated off the walls. I knew that he was about to enjoy those milk bones. There was nothing I could do.

The first sound of a crunching bone hit me with more despair then I could have ever imagined. It was followed by the sound of several bones being chewed up.

The sounds continued and continued and continued.

All I could do was listen.

My mouth filled with saliva, as stringy globs of the clear liquid began to fall from my jowls.

Then the sounds of crunching bones stopped. It was replaced by the sound of paw steps on the stairs. Then his head came into view.

I shifted with anticipation, with hope. The hope that my dear uncle had saved me a few, even brought them up to me. That's what a great uncle would do.

He reached the top of the stairs and turned towards me. With each step he took, he licked at his jowls. This final gesture set me off. I unleashed a flurry of high-pitched barks.

He continued to lick his jowls and just looked at me with such satisfaction, as though he was teaching me a life lesson or something.

He got up on the couch and sank down, ready to sleep off his bounty.

"I hope you get sick," I muttered as I, too, sank down to sleep, although on an empty stomach.

As I dosed off images of milk bones danced in my head.

...

Hey pals,

2011 was my first full year with my family . . . for that matter my first full year.

Dad and were thinking about all fo the things that I experienced this year.

I got to meet several of my dogster friends. In the spring, I met Spikey, Drake and Mollie. We went on a special fundraiser walk. I really loved Spike and Drake's house. In the backyard was a birdfeeder and lots of birds . . . have I mentioned that I love birds, BOL!!!

That visit was special because shortly after, Spikey made his journey to the Bridge. I'm sure glad that i got to meet him and I know that Dad is glad that he got to see him again before he went to the Bridge.

That same day, we got to meet the legendary, earth-rocking, heart-breaking, LWD-shaking, cute-machine making, Zaidie-Pup. That was a great vist. Ziadie is as charming in person as he is in his diaries. We really look forward to seeing Zaidie again, maybe he'll even come visit us so we can take a walk on our trails.

In late summer, Drake and Moliie visited us at our home. We got to go on the trails and the big fields. Riley and I really enjoyed sharing that with them. we can't wait for them to visit again.

Then in the fall, Mr. JackFreckles came to visit. Again we got to head out on the trails and into the big fields. We really love sharing our trails with our pup pals. Come and visit again, Freckles!!!

Riley and I also got to hang out with our dog family several times. Did I mention that I'm an aunt!!! That's right. My bro, Ty, sired a litter and they were born on Dec. 31st. !0 pups in total.

Riley and I love hanging out with our dog family.

2011 really went by quickly. I've grown so much, although I'm still small for a pointer. I love my Rye Rye more than anything in the world. The two of us snuggle together, explore in the fields together--we really are the best of friends.

Toward the end of 2012, we'll be moving into a new house. Dad has promised me that I'll love it!!! It sides and backs onto greenspace, so I'll be able to watch the birds, deer and maybe even the odd coyote. I know that 2012 will be a great year and I wish all my pals and their families the very best.

Big hugs to all of you.

Your pal, Caileigh

Hey Pals,

First, I'd like to give a big bark out to my pal, Jarvis. We love you and send lots of POTP.

On Saturday we all loaded into Riley's Bachelor Pad and we headed to The Canadian Pointer National Dog Show.

My brother, Tank, sisters, Gretchen and Bridget, Mom, Miyah, and uncle, Hart, were taking part in the show.

It was a great day, dominated by my family!!!!

My sister, Bridget, won BEST IN BREED!!! That's right, she beat out all of the other Pointers and there were a lot of them, around 18 in total.

My Mom, Miyah, won Best Brood Bitch, my bro, Tank, won Winners Dog and completed his Canadian Championship, and my uncle, Hart, also won a class he took part in.

I felt sad for Gretchen, but she didn't really care that she didn't win anything. She was also happy for the family.

My other bro, Ty, wasn't there. You might remember that he injured his leg. We;; it healed enough for him to head to the US for a show to get his American title. Unfortunately, he didn't come away with any points.

Hey pals,

I just found out that my brother, Ty, has injured his leg. It's a very deep laceration on the knobby portion a few inches above his paw. Due to the location he isn't able to get stitches but instead needs to rest for it to heal.

I told him that I have a bunch of super cool friends that will send him POTP to help.

I'm sure that he'll be as good as new in no time.

On Saturday, Dad set up a few candles in the backyard. These candles weren't in the normal position, but instead on the ground in front of our water feature.

Two of the candles were in big holders and surrounding them were smaller candles.

Dad said that these candles were for Cookie and Rosie and all of their friends at the Bridge. Riley came out and joined Dad while he lit the candles. Dad and Riley then sat together and talked about Cookie, Rosie and their dear friends. Riley and Dad weren't sad, but instead were very happy to be thinking of these wonderful pups.

Hi pals,

Thank you all so much for sending me messages and rosettes. Dad has been telling me all about them.

I had a good night and slept really well. This morning I woke up and Dad said a little spark had returned in my eyes.

I'm still tired and moving very slowly. I've been a really good girl. I haven't been running or jumping or licking.

Riley's been taking very good care of me. We spent time together this morning out on the deck, sun tanning.

I think it's time for another nap.

Thanks pals.

Hey pals,

I've posted a few of our camp photos.

You can see that Riley and I went running. Well, I went running. It was really hot and Riley decided to rest in the shade while I chased birds.

Camping sure was fun. I hope we get to go again.

This Monday I'm going for something that Riley has called the Big O.

I'm not really sure what that is, but Riley said that everything will be okay. After Monday I'll have to rest for a few days and not chase birds. I don't think that sounds like fun at all.

Well, I'll keep you all posted on how it goes. I guess I can't really be scared of something I don't know anything about.

Have a great weekend pals!!!

We went camping this weekend!!!

This was my first time, but Riley's third time. We all had so much fun. I love being outside.

You know what? I claimed one of the camping chairs for myself. That's right. Dad set up the chairs and I got up in one of them. I looked so cute they just couldn't tell me to get out of it. From then on, that chair was mine.

Dad will post a few photos tonight. At least he better.

Riley and I also went on a really big run. It was really hot so it took a long time for us to cool off.

Riley posted a diary while we were camping . . . the power of technology!

I hope we get to go camping again really soon.

Hey Pals,

On Monday, Mom, Dad, Riley and I went on a drive to the country to visit our dog family.

It was a lot of fun!!!

I saw my brothers, Ty and Tank, my sister, Gretchen, my Mom, Miyah (Riley's sister), my grandpa, Theo (Riley's Dad) and my great grandma, Fiona (Riley's grandma).

You should see where they live--it's huge! Riley and I ran around like crazy. We chased birds in the field. My bro, Ty, really liked me. He followed me everywhere and kept giving me kisses on my head. My ears, head and neck were soaking wet.

Dad got some photos and we'll post the good ones. He just has to transfer them from his iPhone.

I can't wait to visit again. Riley and I slept the entire drive home.

This weekend, we're going camping. I've never been before but Riley told me it's a lot of fun. Happy Canada Day and Independence Day to all my Canadian and American pals.

We hope every pup has a wonderful weekend.

Hey pals!!!

Happy Memorial day to my American pals.

Yesterday was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

Dad woke me and Riley up early. I thought that Dad was going to work, but instead he loaded us into Riley's Bachelor Pad. I think Riley was too sleepy to protest me being in his "Boys Only" vehicle.

We drove for a long distance and when we arrived there was a nice trail and our dogster pals, German Shorthair Pointer Drake and Pointer/Hound mix Mollie.

Turns out there was a walk for Guide Dogs, and me and Riley were taking part.

The four of us,Dad and Drake's and Mollie's Moms set out on the trail.

There were birds everywhere!!!

So many new sniffs, the four of us had a great time. There were a few water stops along the route for a drink and photo opps.

After the walk we went back to Drake's house for a pawty. Drake's brother, Spike, was the host.

He was barking up a good time for us. Riley and I went through their toy basket. Spike offered us some ice cream but neither us or Mollie wanted any. That was okay with Spike and Drake--more for them.

What I really loved was the bird feeder in the backyard. Oh my what fun!!! I just gazed out that window and watched the birds forever . . . well, until sleep got the better of me.

At one point only Spike was pawtying, the four of us were fast asleep. That Spike can sure raise it up a notch, even at 14 years old.

Me, Riley and Dad really had a great time. Thank you so much to Spike, Drake and their Mom. It was also great to meet Mollie and her Mom.

On the way home, Riley and I snuggled for a sleep, but our day wasn't over.

We stopped at the Zaidie Pup's house!!!!

That's right, the one and only Z-Pup.

Zaidie was so happy to see us and he kindly opened up his home to both of us. Riley and I explored and then we settled in the living room. We played with Zaidie's toys, Looked out his windows, and shared a nice cold water together. We even hung out on the couch together.

Let me tell you all, Zaidie is as charming and cute in person as he is in his diaries.

We also really enjoyed meeting Zaidie's Mom and Dad.

On the way home, we fell fast asleep.

A truly great day!!!

Hey Pals,

I want to thank all of my pals for thinking of me yesterday and sending me wonderful messages.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I had a really great day. For lunch I had a big bowl of ground chicken. Both Riley and I love our chicken. Mom fried up enough for both of us.

When Dad got home, he and Mom had to run off and vote. Yesterday was also a big day for all Canadians. We were voting for our Prime Minister.

When Dad got home he made me and Riley a special dinner--hamburgers and sausages!

Oh yeah, my very own burger and sausage. Riley also had his very own and so did Dad.

PLUS, a package had arrived in the mail. Dad opened it and it was from my Furmom. Inside was a very pretty collar (a photo to follow later tonight), a letter from my Furmom and a CD with MP3s.

You might be wondering about the CD, well, all of the pups in this litter have country music names. It was in honour of my great, great grandma Harley. She went to the Bridge just after I was born. Her roots were from Tennesse.

Guess what my official name is?

It's "Cowboy Take Me Away" by the Dixie Chicks.

The CD had all 10 songs for each of the pups.

The letter was really great. My Furmom sure knows how to pull on the heart strings. Some of my siblings live far away. I've been able to see my Furmom and three of my siblings, but the letter was wonderful just the same.

I'm one lucky girl to be loved by so many.

Big hugs and kisses to all my pals in Dogsterland.

This morning Dad gave me a big kiss on the snout and wished me a happy birthday.

One year ago today, me and my 9 siblings were born. I sure have learned a lot in a year.

I love my family and I'm so happy that I get to live with my Uncle Riley. He's the best Uncle I could ever ask for.

I want to thank the following pups and their families for sending me such wonderful birthday wishes:

Redford and pack -- he and his pack made the wonderful new graphic that is my profile photo.
Freckles
Nelly
Ruby & pack
DFB and Angel Zoom Smokey
Abby
Z-Pup
Angel Wyoming and pack
Sophie Claire and HD
Ping
Pippin & Petey
Sophie Bean
and Petey

Tonight, I'm having a big chicken feast. I heard Dad and Mom talking about a dog cake, but the only place they know of that makes them stopped.
I also heard them talking about a place called a dog park. It's rainy here, so I think we might wait for the weekend to do that.

On May 6th, Riley will be celebrating his 5th birthday, so maybe we'll have a combined party. If it's nice this weekend, we might go to a special place. It's a trail system that Riley went for a walk on many years ago with Cookie. They went on Cookie's last birthday. Riley told me it's a great trail, so I hope the weather is nice this weekend.

Thanks pups and packs for the birthday wishes. My family and I love all of you very much.

Today, celebrate along with me by enjoying a favourite treat of yours.

Big hugs from a big girl.

Your pal, The Caileigh Girl!

Hey pups!!!

I hope everypup had as good a time this past weekend as I did.

This weekend was PLAY, PLAY, PLAY!!!

My cuz, Bailey came to visit. We had a few epic tug-of-wars. I had Riley and Dad cheering me on, and Bailey had his two boys, Elliot and Spencer cheering him on.

We pulled, we tugged, we pulled some more. In the end, that Bailey is just too darn good. He won most of the battles.

On Friday, we went for an Easter egg hunt. The three of us sniffed out two cartons full of eggs. I didn't care much for the treats inside. I have a few good photos on my page.

On Saturday, we went for a walk on the trails. Guess what? Bailey broke free from Elliot and went for a swim in the pond. Riley and and I just looked at each other in confusion. Why would any dog want to jump in water? Well, Bailey loves it. He had a good swim trying to catch a few ducks.

Yesterday, Riley and I went for a run in the big fields. We had to work off all that turkey. Riley caught something really good in the field. He wouldn't let me see it. I sniffed at his mouth, but he wouldn't even give me a little glimpse.

When he finally did drop it, I pretended I was no longer interested. Take that Riley!

Dad also told me that we're going on a Easter egg hunt today.

This is a tradition. For the last two years Riley has gone on this egg hunt to support Dogs for Autism. Today, I get to go as well. We hope that Bailey gets here in time to join us.

This is going to be a busy weekend. We have lots of family coming. I think I'll have to sleep all of next week.

I love birds!!!

Don't worry DFB, when I say "love" I don't mean I want to be pals with them. I mean I "love" to chase them!

When we're out in the big fields, they fly close to the ground and chase and chase and chase them. Lately, they've been flying around my front yard.

I watch them from the front window. I give out a high-pitched cry because I want to chase them so badly. From one tree to another they go. From one house-line to another they travel.

Just yesterday, a robin touched down in my backyard. I got up on the back of the couch and I watched this little devil. Riley, of course, was unconcerned. You'll see him in my new photo just relaxing while I watch over my pack.

I sat there watching that robin for what seemed like hours or years (as Zaidie pup would say) but it was only for a minute. If these birds plan on coming by and hanging out in my backyard, I need to put a plan in action to capture them.

Riley!!!! I need your help . . .

My bro, Ty, earned his championship this weekend in the show ring.

I've posted a few photos and you'll see that he looks a lot like Riley. He's also tall and big like Riley and only 10 months old. I'm the little girl of the pack.

Mom and Dad went to the show on Sunday to cheer Ty on. On Friday and Saturday he did very well. Winning the Pointer puppy group, and then winning the Pointer group against adults.

Mom and Dad loved watching him in the ring.

He's earned enough points that will allow him to add a designation to his name. He'll now be known as Ch. Coquetel Cowboy Casanova. He's still Ty to me.

My other brother, Tank, also earned his first point in the show ring. My sister, Gretchen was also there.

Hey pals,

Caileigh Girl here. I wanted to bark to you all and tell you that I'm going to sleep for a week.

It was non-stop tug-of-wars, playing ball and wrestling.

I employed a new tactic in tug-of-war. Bailey kept getting the better of me. He would slowly make his way up the toy until we were snout to snout. With a powerful head jerk he would wrench the last bit from my mouth.

So, I decided to try something new. Early in the battle, I would lead him toward a wall and then at the last minute I would step around the corner and pull him, smashing him into the wall. This worked several times. Dad and Riley were watching from the bed and cheering me on.

I do have to hand it to Bailey, he soon figured out my trick and wouldn't allow me to lead him towards the wall.

Bailey is a great playmate and really good at tug-of-war.

Bailey went home yesterday. I was really sad this morning. I got my skinned duck and went to Dad, but he didn't want to play tug. I then went to Mom, but she didn't want to play tug. I finally ended with Riley, but he didn't want to play either.

I want my Bailey back.

Hey Pals,

Last night Bailey and I had an epic tug-of-war. It was the tug-of-war to end all tug-of-wars.

Dad was on the couch. His legs were stretched out on the L-shape portion. Mom was in the other corner and Riley was cuddled up against her. All three of them had front row seats.

Bailey picked up my skinned fox and started parading around with it. I took hold of one end and the battle began. Bailey tugged and I held fast. He tugged some more but I wasn't letting go.

Bailey is short and a little hefty so he has leverage over me. I'm thin and dainty. Regardless I wasn't going down without a fight. I got low to the ground in an attempt to secure myself in place. Bailey continued to tug and tug.

This continued for several minutes. I held on for dear life. Being a little older than me, Bailey's strategy was a little better. With each tug, he released his grip and started making his way down the skinned fox.

Soon we were nose to nose. Over five minutes had passed. My family was cheering me on. Even Riley was barking for me from his comfy spot on the couch.

I guess my inexperience got the best of me. I had thought I could tire Bailey out, but in the end, his strategy of reducing the space between us worked in his favour.

My family gave me lots of lovin' for hanging on and fighting so hard and for so long.

Bailey you may have won that battle, but this war isn't over.

Bailey jumped out of the car and ran straight for our front door.

Riley started barking his head off at him. I think he might have forgotten who Bailey was. I greeted Bailey at the front door with a sniff and then Riley came in to say hi.

The first day has been filled with loads of fun. Bailey and I played tug-of-war with a sock. You can see some of the photos on my page. Riley supervised just to make sure there wasn't too much rough-housing going on. When he felt that Bailey was getting the upper hand he started barking at him in an attempt to distract him.

In the end I won!!!! That's right, I won the tug-of-war. Bailey then proceeded to pin me to the ground, but before he could get the three count, Riley jumped on him from the couch. Riley looked like The Macho Man Randy Savage. Riley said he and his tag-team partner, Atley, practice the move all the time.

Bailey has been very respectful. I wonder what trouble we can get into today?

Hey pals,

Caileigh Girl here. Now I know that Riley told you about the trip our folks took and how he looked after me while they were gone.

That Riley sure knows how to promote himself. Truth is, I took care of him. That's right, little me, only 8 months old took care of big Riley.

I woke him up in the morning. Chased him around the house so he got a lot of exercise. I barked at the human looking after us so we'd get feed. I stood next to the back door so we'd be let out. I cuddled next to him to keep him warm. You see, I took care of him.

There's also a secret I don't think he knows. Tonight, our cousin Bailey from Michigan is coming to stay with us for a week while his folks go on vacation. It's going to be a lot of fun. I'll be playing with Bailey and chasing him all over the place. Riley will be playing the role of sheriff. Always laying down the law. Well, sometimes young pups need to play.

I'll keep you all posted on the great time we have together. All I can say is it's going to be a full bed this week. BOL!!!!

I went on my very first road trip. We went to Michigan for Christmas. I had a great time and I was a very good girl.

We went running in the fields with our two cousins, Bailey and Clarise. I stayed close to Riley, but we still explored everywhere.

I love road trips. Where to next, Dad?

I hope all my puppy pals had a nice Christmas with their families.

Riley tried to tell me that she isn't a toy for me, but I think that she is.

Clarise is a Lowchen and our fur-cousin. Riley and her have grown up together, but I had only met her once before.

Clarise is staying with us for the next week. Then she'll be travelling to Michigan with us. That's where we're going for Christmas. I have no idea were it is or how long it will take to get there. Riley told me I'm on a "need to know" basis and I don't need to know the details.

What I do know is that I love chasing Clarise and poking her with my nose in order to get her to play. Sometimes Riley steps in and blocks my path. If I didn't know better I'd think he was protecting Clarise.

Hey pals!!!!

I posted 2 new photos. You can see that I like to perch on the top of the couch and look outside.

Let's see you do that Riley!!!

He isn't as agile as I am, after all he's over 70 pounds. Me, I'm quick, and nibble.

On Sunday we all went to the big fields again for a run. Guess what? Dad let me off the leash. That's right, I was running free.

Dad had a good laugh because as I got out ahead of him, just at the length when the retractable leash would lock in, I turned and looked at him, waiting for the stoppage. It never came!!!

I was a really good girl. I came when I was called and I never went out too far. We only tried it for a few minutes. Next time, we'll try it for longer and then introduce Riley also being off leash with me.

Time to find Riley and have a good afternoon snuggle in front of the fire.

Last night Riley told me of a tradition.

It started years ago with my great grandma, Cookie. Dad would order a pizza and watch his favourite show, Lost. While watching the show he would share his pizza with Cookie. Picking off the pepperoni, sausage and ham and feeding it to her.

Riley told me that for two years, both he and Cookie got to share the pizza toppings while watching Lost. Then Cookie went to the Bridge and Riley was left alone to continue the tradition. For one season, Rosie joined Riley in this tradition.

Once again for the final season of Lost, Riley and Dad would enjoy pizza together.

Well, Lost is no longer on and it looked like a tradition came to end with that final episode in May.

Last night, Dad said to Riley, "What do you say,Rye, we continue the tradition with our new favourite show?"

That's when Riley started jumping in the air, his head bouncing, his front legs bending and folding. I watched, my ears forward, my tail erect. I wasn't sure what all the excitement was about but I knew it had to be good.

That's when Riley told me the story.

Dad's new favourite show, The Vampire Diaries, started. It was a repeat, but Dad didn't care, he watched it again. Then the door bell rang. Riley raced down the stairs and jumped up at the door.

I could smell the most awesome aroma coming through the door. Then Dad opened the door and brought the smell inside. My nose was going like crazy. Riley was getting pets from the delivery guy, so I focused on the smell.

We went upstairs and piece by piece Dad picked off pepperoni and gave it to Riley and then to me. I sat on the couch, patiently waiting for my piece. It was heaven. Then I got a sausage and then a piece of ham. This continued until the pizza was gone.

All I can say is that I'm so glad the tradition continues. . .

Hey everyone!!!

This weekend was a great one. I had turkey for the first time. We were celebrating Canadian thanksgiving. Mom and Dad came home with a big dish of sweet smelling goodness.

Riley and I had big bowls full, not once, but three times.

I also got to meet my Dad's Mom. We went to a place where there were lots of older people. I made my rounds and everyone wanted to say hi to the Caileigh Girl. I can't believe how happy they all were to say hi to me. I was such a good girl.

Dad said that I might have a future in visiting such places and spreading joy.

Last but not least, yesterday Riley and I hung out with my furbro, Tank and Riley's Dad (my grand dad), Theo.

We went for a long walk through trails and along the water's edge. It was great to see Tank and my first human Mom. I showered her with lots of kisses.

Riley and his Dad got to bond. The two of them were out in front exploring and sniffing while me and Tank followed. I can't believe how big my bro has gotten. He's much bigger than me.

Every time we saw a squirrel the four of us would start whinning and crying and pulling on the leash. It was a sweet chorus . . . I'm just not sure the other people enjoying the trails thought it was such a nice song.

It was a great time.

I was even used as the demonstration pup and I was awesome. Mom and Dad were so proud of me.

I have some homework to do this week before next Monday's class. I'm up for it.

Hey pals,

Through Riley's diary you may remember him writing about his "Legendary". That's when he and Dad go out for 3- to 4-hour walks. They go running through the big fields, into the big Provincial Park and along all the great trails in our neighbourhood.

This summer has been hot, hot, hot. So Riley hasn't gone on many Legendaries.

Yesterday, Dad got Riley all excited. There was talk of a Legendary. Riley ran to the door, his mouth open, his tongue hanging out, his eyes really big, together creating his excited face.

Then Dad turned to me and said, "Would you like to go on your first Legendary?"

I just sat there like a good girl. I had no idea what he was talking about.

Moments later, I was all saddled up . . . that's what Mom called it. And the four of us were out the door.

I had no clue what was in store for me.

As we traveled along the trail, I pulled a little. Then we reached the furthest spot we had gone before. You know, the spot where the trail ends.

Guess what? It doesn't end there.

We kept going this time. Around a bend we went and through a big gate. Before me was a big open field. Dad unleashed Riley and he ran like the wind. He bounded in the air . . . bouncing, bouncing, bouncing like my ball after it falls down the stairs and hits the floor.

I started pulling like crazy and crying. I wanted to be with Riley. Dad told me I wasn't big enough just yet, but that one day I would run just like him.

We traveled through fields for a long time. Then we came to another trail. Riley went back on the leash and we headed down this new path. The trees flanked each side and went high up into the air. Above us they cradled together to form a roof. By this time we had been walking for nearly an hour and I was no longer pulling.

We walked and walked and walked. We passed ponds, ducks, other dogs, people. I didn't think we were ever going home. Then we turned a corner and I recognized where we were. The home stretch.

When the front door opened, Riley and I rushed to our water bowls. It tasted so good. Moments later, the two of us were asleep.

Now I know why Riley got so excited. I can't wait for the next Legendary!

This weekend I met big dogs!!!!

When I say big dogs, I mean really, really big dogs. Riley told me they aren’t dogs at all. I think he’s wrong. They have long legs, short fur, ears, and tails and get led around on leads.

Riley said they’re called horses.

Mom sponsored a hunter division for adult amateurs at a show near our house. Dad took Riley and me on Sunday. I was the magnet Mom needed to attract people to her tent. She was already fairly popular because she was giving away carrots and apples but the added power of the Caileigh Girl . . . and Riley . . . put her over the top.

I played with three nice girls and I also met a brown German Shorthaired Pointer and a black German Shorthaired Pointer just like my pal Demon Flash Bandit’s family used to have. It was the first time Dad had seen a black GSP.

The big event was when I met the best big dog in the entire world. Mom said she’s my horse sister, Daune. She was in a big stall eating long pieces of grass. I walked right on in and had to bend my neck to look at her. She sniffed the top of my head and said, hi. I wasn’t scared at all. My tail wasn’t even tucked.

I think I love this place called, the barn. I know I love the big dogs, especially, Daune. Riley told me that he goes there all the time and runs around a big sandy arena where he jumps over fences. I can’t wait until I get to do that.

Bark at you later, pals.

I got to see my sister, Gretchen, and my brothers, Tiberius and Tank!!!!

You should see how much bigger they are, but that didn't stop me from getting in there and mixing it up with them. It was great to see them again. I also got to see my first Mom, Gen. I gave her lots of kisses and told her how much I love my new home.

She could see how happy I am and how well Riley and I get along.

We all played in a big field with a pond. I fell in the mud, but I made sure I didn't go in the water. Gretchen loved the water and kept diving in. even Tank went in a few times.

Ty and I just watched. Riley supervised all of us and did a great job.

I had so much fun I slept for the entire ride home.

Today, I got to go in Riley's bachelor pad all by myself. He wasn't happy about it and I gave him a hard time. I had to go for my last round of shots. Dad told me I was a very good girl. We went to the pet store after and got me a new girly collar.

Life is good. Oh, I now weigh 24.4 pounds.

Bark at all of your later.

Hi everyone,

The Caileigh Girl is getting big. Did I just refer to myself in the 3rd person?

Pals, I recently went to the vet for my next round of shots. I was a really good girl. Riley was there for support. I didn't cry or get upset when I had some bum pokins' nor when I got my needle.

I know weight 20 lbs, twice as much as when I went home with my family.

Sorry about the whispering, but Riley weighs 72 lbs. I think he's a little sensitive about it. He feels he's getting a little bit of a spare tire around the waste. I heard him telling Dad that he wants to go on more legendary walks to burn off some weight.

Anyway pals, I also went to the drive-in on the weekend. We went in the new Pathfinder or as Riley calls it, his "Bachelor Pad." He told me I wasn't allowed in it at first, but after giving him my cute, puppy girl look he agreed to allow me in. He did tell me not to try and redecorate or to clean up his stuff. I could visit, but this was his bachelor pad. I payed him no mind.

The drive-in was a lot of fun. We parked backwards and Mom and Dad joined us in the back. I crawled onto Dad's legs and fell right asleep. I don't know if the movies were any good, but I sure did enjoy all of us being together.

Well, I'm off to bug Riley.

Hi everyone,

Hi everyone,

I'm 11 weeks old now and I've been having so much fun. On Sunday night we had a house full of kids. Mom's nephews and niece were over. I love kids!!!!

Riley has been super nice to me. He's showing me all kinds of things. Sometimes he likes to tease me. He's a tall boy and can jump up on the couch and bed really easily. He likes to nudge me and when I chase him he jumps up on the bed and laughs at me from up above.

Just other night he played that game over and over. I had my front paws on the top of the bed and barked a loud, piercing bark that nearly made the windows crack. One of these days I'll be able to jump up onto the bed, too!

So, my sweet girl-pal Saphira tagged me for a sumer game. I didn't know what I was supposed to do. Riley kindly told me all about it. He was tagged by Freckles and I got to watch him do his diary.

My attention span is short, so I better cut to the chase. Here are my responses to the game.

1. Do you ever wake your parents up in the night?

I'm 11 weeks old and you might think that I need to go potty during the night, but I've been sleeping without waking through the night since the third day I came to live with my pack. I'm a real good girl that way and I never have an accident in my crate.

2. Do you ever tear up things?

I sure do. I tear up magazines that I find on the table or couch. I tear up the sod in the backyard. I tear up the pee pads in my crate. I tore up the toilet paper roll other day. Tearing up things is fine.

3. What is your favorite treat?

Treats are new to me and to be honest I love anything I can eat. I know where we keep the food and on Monday night I found it for myself and tore a little hole in the bottom of the bag and helped myself. I know, my food isn't a treat, but since I took it when I wasn't supposed to it was a treat to me. BOL!!!!

4. Can you fetch something when asked to do so?

I don't know what fetching is. Riley, what does fetch mean?

5. Have you ever lived any place other than where you live now?

I was born in a house in North Toronto and then me, my brothers and sisters and my Mom went to a farm. It was really cool there. There were others dogs at the farm--Poodles and Labs.

For three weeks now I've been living with Riley, Mom and Dad. It's awesome. I feel sad sometimes for a few of my brothers and sisters. They don't get to live with a relative. My sister, Bridget went to live with uncle, Hart and my grandma, Daphne. My sister Gretchen, brother Tiberius and other brother Tank get to live with our Mom, Miyah, grandpa, Theo and great-grandma, Fiona.
Tank is living with them until his forever home can be found. If any of you want an awesome pointer brother, let me know. I must say, Tank is a cool dude!!!

This was a lot of fun, but now I think I'll go nibble on Riley's jowls and ears. He just loves that!!!

Surrounding me were nine other scratching, biting, barking pups. I, the most precious and sweet one sat back and watched. That’s what I do. I watch. I learn.

The first pup suckled, the second pup followed. I studied.

My eyes had just opened upon this wonderful world. Before me was uncertainty but I wasn’t scared. My Mom was there.

I closed my eyes and fell into a sound sleep. What did I dream? Playing with my brothers, my sisters, my Mother, my humans, the farm that I knew to be home.

I opened my eyes and where my Mom once stood I now found another. I watched. Standing over me, his face was like mine, his eyes kind. I wasn’t scared. My Uncle was there.

I watched. I learned. We played. New humans showered me with love. A new home emerged.

Before me is a life of love, of play, of learnings, of teachings. That’s what I will do. These diaries will chronicle my journey. My name is Caileigh and this is my story.
