Yesterday was my inauguration as Mayor of Dogville. The weather was perfect as was the setting. It was quite a day. The crowds were huge. I finally strutted my stuff on stage after they got the hat and official sash in place. After all the pictures and congratulations I took a stroll through the crowd and greeted as may pups as I could. All showed me the respect that was due my office as the masses would part to let me pass. Not a squirrel or kitty in sight. Once we concluded the festivities I had some treats and a big drink of ice water. I finished marking my territory and we headed for home. Took a long nap and then paraded through the neighborhood on our evening stroll. I will be heading into the office soon to begin implementing my agenda. Thanks to all for your votes and support. Without you I would never have been elected!

Woo Hoo! It is official. It was announced at 7:20 AM this morning. I, Hamish McDuff, have been elected the Mayor of Dogville! Thank you all fur your help with getting out the vote. They say it was close and I won by a hair, BOL. My installation will be this Sunday at the 11th Annual WMGK Dog Walk at Green Lane Park in Montgomery County, PA. If your from around these parts, I'd love to meet you in the fur. I will get a sash and a top hat with the ears cut out. Can't smash down my cute Scottie ears. I have to finish my speech and work on my priorities as Mayor. Let's see there's the Meatz truck and a Cheese truck, and the water fountain bowl attachments at pup levels. More open space with trees and bushes fur smelling and "Privacy Please". More outdoor tables fur us to join our peeps at restaurants. Some anti-squirrel legislation and maybe we should tackle the stinky skunk issue. Well pals what else should I hope to accomplish during my term as Mayor?

Hi Pals,
I'm here trying to stump for votes in my contest for Mayor of Dogville. Today is the final day to vote. You can only vote 1 time (just like real elections)! A radio station in Philadelphia has an annual event they call the "Dog Walk". It is this coming Sunday. They have Rescue Groups, agility demonstrations and the police dogs also put on a proformance. It is a day for dogs and their peeps to get information, learn about dog breeds and just have a great time at a large park. I am in a 2 dog race. It is between me and Oscar. I'm asking for your help. Here is the link to vote for me if you would be so kind.

http://www.wmgk.com/contests/mayor-of-dogville/View.aspx?ID=382580

Thank you all so much. I would get a hat and a sash and some other presents. Bet I get to be the first dog in the parade!

I'll let you know if I win.

Hi Everypup & Peeples!
I want to thank everyone fur all the wonderfur presents and good wishes on my third Barkday. Finley, Sophie Clare and HD gave me a ball and I love chasing after it in the evenings. Whitley sent me a Kite to fly in the yard. I’ve been trying to use it to catch birds but haven’t had any luck yet. And I got steaks from Abby and Buddy, Freckles and Riley. They were really great.
We have been adjusting to the new schedule at home with only Mum during the week and both Mum and Duncan’s first Mom on the weekends. We get extra snuggle time with her. We had torture time on Sunday. Both got our furs trimmed. We are extremely handsome but I’m not sure it’s worth the suffering.
I now am going to ask you for a favor. Mum entered me in a contest. Every year a radio station in Philadelphia has a special day for all the Dogs and their Peeps. This year they have added a contest to be Mayor. So far there are only 10 entries and I am one of them. Would you please ask your folks to please vote fur me? Here’s the link: http://www.wmgk.com/contests/mayor-of-dogville/View.aspx?ID=382580
I would really like to be Mayor. I think I would be a good mayor and can add a lot to the community. First I’d add special bowls on water fountains at a dog level so we can drink too. After all Summer is coming and we need a cool drink when we are out. More outdoor seating so we can go to more restaurants for dinner. I want to order from a menu, not get what Mum decides. Much more open space so we can run, sniff, mark, chase rabbits and squirrels, play catch and Frisbee. We need Meatz trucks not just ice cream trucks roaming the streets. That’s the start of my changes if I’m elected Mayor.

Hi pals. It’s been a while since I got to bark. Duncan seems to do most of that around here. But I’m 3 today so I get to do the barking!
There’s changes coming to our home, in fact they started already. If you read Duncan arrival story you know he had a Mom before Mum. The economy caused problems and she had to sell her house and move, so Duncan moved in with Mum. His first Mom moved in with us a couple of years ago. She had changed jobs and it was closer to where we lived than where she was staying. So she’s been here since I was about 7 – 8 months old. So as far as I’m concerned she is family. Well it seems she has gone and gotten another one of those new job things. This time though, it is not in a good place to get to from here, something about traffic, rush hour and too much time in the car. So for now she’s here on the weekends and staying at another place that’s closer to this work thing on the weeknights. I don’t like that cause she gives better back scratches than Mum and plays more fun games than Mum does. And now Duncan is really not happy. He is moping around the house, especially at bedtime. They have special snuggle times before sleeping and he is missing her lots. Mum is trying to give him special attention but then I get shorted. So it’s an adjustment for all of us. At least for now she comes home on Fridays and we all get caught on snuggles and back scratches and playing laser outside in the dark. We were so happy to see her last weekend that we both slept with her Friday night and Mum had her bed and room to herself. I’ll see if Mum will post that picture of us sleeping together on the bed.
So for breakfast for my birthday I got tuna fish. And tonight I’m getting ground beef and mashed potatoes. I love mashed potatoes. They are just delicious! We had a special crab leg night Saturday while we were all together. I love me some crab legs too. So I am having a very yummy birthday.

Mum hasn’t let me bark fur a while so it certainly is my turn.
We have been getting little bits of snow every few days recently. So we get just enough to cover the lawn and then it melts and then the next batch. We did get one where there was snow that covered the side walk fur and lasted about 3 days. That was the best one we had this year. They just keep missing us and going up to North Jersey, New York and New England. Duncan and I really want some snow to dig and roll in, but it just doesn’t seem like we’re going to get it again this year.
So in the colder weather Mum lets our furs all grow in and we get very shaggy. It helps to keep us warm. But we must have gotten too shaggy cause she took us to a new place on Sunday and we both got tortured. She seemed to like the results though I think I looked just fine the way I was. She will get some new pictures loaded one of these days.
Yesterday I got another car ride but just Mum & me. We went to the Doggie Dermatologist. He very nice but I still get scared in those places. I remember the time I was there and they did all kinds of things to me. Made me sleep, shaved some of my belly and then did many little injections and made all these bumps come up. Turns out I was allergic to all the things they tested. My fur grew back and they gave me something to help with my itching. But the allergy shots we are trying aren’t working. So I still am on other medication. We are now stopping the allergy shots and seeing how I do this Spring on just the new medication. Mum says we will probably wait a year or two and then maybe try the shots again. I’ll have to be retested so I agree, let’s wait fur a long time before we try that again.

So she cut a piece from the left over scraps and brought that to school. I said okay, if you will make all the circumstances right, I’ll sit fur you. I did and I graduated.
On a sad note, we haven’t been around fur a few days cause our Grand pop went to the bridge very early Friday morning. He was a very nice man who always gave the best ear rubs.
Hi Pals,
Belated thanks from both Duncan and me on all the wonderfur presents and well wishes we received for our Barkdays.
So let’s see where I left off since my typist was willing to work, oh right, Mum forgot my Barkday. Well she was good to me and we celebrated fur 2 days to make up for her error. I had a good dinner both days and extra treats and got some new toys.
The weather here has been very strange for almost a year. It was very hot last summer and then we had a monsoon. It rained for months, almost every day (at least it seemed that way to me). And we had a snow storm before Halloween. Now I know some of you from the Northern areas don’t think that’s all that strange, but around here we rarely have any snow before Thanksgiving, ever! Then it suddenly stopped raining/snowing. The winter was very mild, so warm in fact that on sunny days there might be a fly on the outside front of the house sunbathing. The Robins never left either. They stayed here all winter. How are we supposed to know when spring is if the migrating birds don’t migrate? Anyway, like I said it’s been strange. Now some of the flowers from last summer have sprung back to life. We have petunias about to bloom. Hello, it’s April! The worst part of all of this is we didn’t get to play in the snow this year. Duncan & I both love the snow and there just wasn’t any of it to play in. The storm in October was the most we got.
In other news I’ve been going to school again. Mum was never happy with what I learned the first time. She thought it was the instructor. So she finally found the good instructor that Duncan had when he learned all his tricks. This week is graduation but Mum says I’m not going to graduate this time. I will not sit at school. I prefer to stay on alert the entire time. I will come, leave it, drop it, but not sit. I will sit at home, but not outside. So they brought rugs and mats for me to sit on, nope, I don’t want to sit. They brought Duncan to see if I would follow his lead. Doesn’t matter if Mum brings me an hour early and walks me all around, I will not sit. No thank you I’m just fine standing here. No not tired. So she has been working on me to sit all the time this week. Maybe I’ll give her one at school just to make her happy.

Hi Pals. We have an issue at our house and Mum asked me to see if any of you had any advice.
I don’t think this is a problem. As far as I’m concerned it is up to me how I treat everybody.
Anyway back to Mum’s request. Duncan’s first mom moved in with us about a year and a half ago. I was still a wee puppy of 8 months at that point. Everything is fine but I don’t pay any attention to her unless I want something. She can call my name over and over and over and over again, and I will ignore her. I don’t come in when she asks me to and I just treat her like she isn’t there unless I want a back rub. She is really good at those. When Mum says my name I look at her right away. I also come in when she asks, although it may take a little bit of time before I get up to the door. (I am a Scottie and have my pride, you know.) I wasn’t always like this, just last few months or so. We haven’t had a disagreement or anything like that, I just don’t listen to her. Mum thinks I’m just being a spoiled teenager. Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks

1. WHAT COLOR COLLAR ARE YOU WEARING?

I don’t wear collars. The Dogter says they only make me itchy. I wear a harness when we go for walks.

2. DOES YOUR LEASH MATCH YOUR COLLAR?

My harness and leash match. They are both red. Mum likes me in red.

3. WHAT’S WORSE? An EVIL NEMESIS SQUIRREL bouncing around in the trees or across the fence, a Crow strutting around in your yard or Neighbor People outside talking?

EVIL SQUIRRELS! They stay just on the other side of the fence. No matter how long and loud I bark they just ignore me. The birds fly away when I chase them. Although I have caught a couple.

4. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE SNACK?

Anything that Mum will let me have. I’m limited by my allergies.

5. WHERE WAS YOUR LAST CAR RIDE?

To Petco on Sunday!

6. DO YOU STICK YOUR HEAD OUT THE WINDOW ON CAR RIDES?

No, not allowed.

7. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE TOY?

Anything that Duncan may have is suddenly my favorite and I must have it!

8. DO YOU HAVE A BOYFURIEND OR GIRLFURIEND?

Yes, her name is Bella and she is a Border Collie mix that lives in the house behind us. I just go crazy for her. Her Mom moved her chain so we can talk through the fence.

9. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE WALK?

I love our long weekend morning walks. We go all the way through town and then back home.

10. DO YOU GO TO DOG PARKS?

No. Mum says I could probably go, but not Duncan. He has issues with dogs he doesn’t know. Me, they call the social director. I love to meet new pups and make sure everybody is having a good time!

11. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT?

Next to Mum in her big bed.

12. DO YOU SNORE?

No,not yet. But Mum does!

13. DO YOU SLEEP UNDER THE COVERS?

No, I stay on top so I can be on guard and spring into action right away.

14. DO YOU HAVE TO WEAR CLOTHES?

Yes, but I‘m used to them. They help me be not as itchy.

15. ARE YOU THE FAVORITE DOG?

Of course I am. But don’t tell Duncan.

16. WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE SPOT TO SLEEP IN THE HOUSE?
On the sofa

17. WHAT’S THE BEST HUMAN FOOD YOU’VE EVER BEEN FED?

Steak!

18. DO YOU GO TO A DOG GROOMER?

Yes but only a couple of times a year. My hair grows very slowly.

19. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF BATHS?

I’m used to them. I get one at least every other week for my allergies.

20. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU ARE BORED?

Jump on Duncan!

Things have been pretty much standard around here lately, though I have some things to bark about, but no typist time! Takes something dramatic to get her attention. First let me say that we are just fine, so now to the story. Had a normal morning, Mum up early, take the morning walk – 2 blocks south, 1 block west, 3 blocks north, 1 block east, last block south then the turn to home. Not even a cat to bark at. The squirrels weren’t up yet, nothing stirring. Get home, drink some water, go back up to the bed and make my nest. It’s great once Mum gets out of it. I can rearrange the covers they way I like them! So, like I was saying a normal morning. We are given breakfast, which we ignore, even with cheese on it. Obviously we wanted something else for breakfast, not that food! So Mum does her stuff and then Duncan’s first Mom gets up and does whatever it is she does and they both leave. The neighbor comes over to let us out in the yard after school. We romp a little and bark cause the squirrels are up now!
So Mum gets home early, like maybe an hour before she was supposed to be here. Don’t know what that was about but all the more fun time for us. So we take the afternoon/evening walk and get home. Mum unclips our harnesses and we get to play in the yard for a while. Our yard is completely fenced in so we have freedom to chase each other or blowing leaves, birds, squirrels whatever is out there and moving. So we also like to bark, because we are terriers and it is our job to bark. So we are barking a little, not heavy duty the way Duncan can get, just a little barking a random things. And something happened. I’m not going to tell who did it but somebody opened our gate. Not the usual gate that we always go out for walks. The gate on the other side where the big oil truck pulls up and carries the hose to hook up to the house so we stay warm enough all winter. Well, if the gate is open ,let’s go all the places Mum doesn’t take us! So off we go, up the street to the next block. There’s a kitty that lives there, we can stop and bark. Then there are some cute boys that like us and we take the time to say hi and get pets. By now though Mum figures we have been out long enough and our dinner is ready. So she comes out the door and sees the open gate and no dogs and nearly passes out. She says all those stories about how Scotties just keep going and going and going, and selective hearing and all sorts of things were going through her head. But she saw some people waving and they said aren’t these your pups? Yes, she yelled. And then she waved at us and asked us to come home. I was right on that, Duncan took a few seconds before he followed me. We ran straight for Mum. The next door neighbors were on their way out for dinner and Mum stopped them from pulling out of their driveway so they didn’t block our path. Boy was she ever happy with us. She scooped me up and Jimmy from next door scooped up Duncan. We were home in our yard and then in the house very quickly. There were treats, lots of treats and “good boys” and lots of those too and hugs and kisses and it was great. A little free time and then rewards. So I think that was enough excitement for Mum for a while. She’s not as young as Duncan and me so we’ll stay home and she will put a lock on that gate.

I haven't been able to get the typist to work with me. Trying to remember where I was the last time. Oh yeah, I had my allergy testing and I reacted to everything but 10 things the most. So they are going to have a serum just for me to help build up my immunity to all those things. But Mum says due to the car issues we've had, I can't start my shots until January. I think she is just stalling because she's scared of needles.
We had a crazy summer. First it was real hot and then we got rain, buckets and buckets of it. It’s still so wet here that around the corner they have machines and pipes that push out water from the basements every few seconds. First there is gurgle sound and then a swish with the water flowing. We have to time our walks so we don’t get extra wet. And the bitey mosquitoes, wow are they nasty and hungry. They go after Mum, Duncan & me. We have our repellant stuff on that Mum sticks on us once a month. Boy that helps. So we are hoping that the weather settles down and gently cools down into better Scottie walking weather. But now today it is raining again and really heavy right now, can’t even see down the block. Glad I’m an indoor pup.

Hi Pals,

I went to see the special Dogtor last Saturday. Had I known what was going to happen, I would not have wanted to go on the car ride. It just so special when Mum takes just me I can't help but get excited and want to go.
So we get to this place. She had brought me here a few weeks or months or days ago. I don't like going into any of these places because something is always going to happen. I've lost parts and gotten shots and all manor of rude things done to me at this kind of place. So I tell Mum if she wants me to go in here she is going to have to carry me, and she does! We get in the room in the back and they come in, like they always do, but this time they take me away and leave Mum there. I go to another area and then they give me a shot, knew that was going to happen, and soon I'm sleeping. Just couldn't help it. I was trying to stay awake because I know something is going to happen but I couldn't. So years later I wake up and I'm on a blanket with Mum next to me. I asked her what happened and then I see it. They shaved off a bunch of my beautiful coat! I have a naked rectangle on my side. This is embarassing I said. Mum quickly put a shirt on me to cover it up. Turns out this is how they found out what makes me itch. I reacted to everything at least a little but 10 things a lot including grass and insects and corn and mold. I don't know what mold is but I know what the other things are and I like them. Especially in the warm weather. So Mum says we have to go back there again. I'm not looking forward to that trip, I can't imagine what will happen to me then.

Hi Pals,
We went out extra early this morning (4 AM) because Duncan drank too much water over night and couldn't wait until 5. So we start out and I sense something is not quite normal as we round the corner at the end of the block. There he was, that black kitty that sometimes sleeps on the door step. He wasn't ready for 2 ferrous, big, tough Scottie boys! We starting the barking and for some reason, Mum wasn't happy about that. The kitty did a Halloween cat back and hissed at us. Mum was holding us back trying to quiet us and she always grabs for Duncan first, cause he has more weight and is still stronger than I am. While she was working on containing him, I was wiggling as fast as I could and I then did the back up, right out of my harness. I was after that cat. He shot back around the corner with me hot in pursuit. There were some flying claws but I managed to duck them. He climbed up a wall and was gone. I came back around the corner to Mum and Duncan and decided that I was inspired by that free spirit, Beenie from the Mounds of Minnesota and I would decide where I was going today. So I started to take the long Weekend walk with Mum hot on my trail. She had secured Duncan way back where we had the incident. I did my best jog, didn't want to leave her in my dust, BOL BOL. Paused a couple of times for privacy please, and then got to the house with the big, barky dog in it. He is so loud you can hear him blocks away. I had to stop and admire his vocalizations. Meanwhile all this way Mum is trying to get me to stop and wait, like we do on leash. Hammy wait, Hammy stop, Hamish McDuff you wait for me, come here Hamster. She was using every name in her book. I was nice enough to let her put the harness back on in front of house while I listened to him bark. We then went back to Duncan and finished our walk. It was fun to make the choices on where to go but it really upset Mum, so maybe I will just stick with her for a while.

I have been having issues with sleepy times. Currently I am on steriods for my allergies so Dogter Fox says that will increase my appetite and my water consumption. Which means I will need privacy please more often. So Mum, in her great wisdom, decided I need to sleep in my pen with the potty patch so I can take care of business all by myself. However I'm not happy with this arrangement. I bark until I settle down. Then I start barking very early in the morning. Today it was 3:15 AM. We have tried letting me loose instead of in the pen but I bark at every little noise I hear whether I'm upstairs in bed or down in my pen and it is making Mum crazy and tired. Have any of my pals had this issue and if so, how did everybody live through it?

Mum isn't happy with my skool. I'm having a great time but not learning what she wanted. I can sit when she asks just right but that is all I have learned in 3 weeks. We are spending too much time on socialization. I'm a social butterfly, I love everybody and everything except for birds. Them I want to eat. From the first class when we were unclicked from our leads I was right over there introducing myself first to Ben and then to Mitzi. I even split time with them to try and not show favorites or anything. They are both shy and don't want to leave their pawrents to play. So I have to go to them. It's not a problem for me, I'm glad to do it. But that seems to be all we accomplish each week. We did do a little of "leave it" and "drop it", but I know those words. I hear them all the time, especially on trash day. They come and pick up the trash early for most people, not us we are up before the sun. So the trash goes out the night before and the night creatures sometime rip open the bags that are not inside cans. All this great stuff is in those bags and I can smell it. Since it is dark and I am black I manage to get my snooter where Mum doesn't want it. Then I hear, Hammy leave it or once I have something, Hammy drop it. I do because if I don't we stop and the hand comes down into my mouth and takes my prize away. So has anybody else had pawrents that were not happy with their first class?

Hi Pals,
I have been to 2 classes so far and can now almost sit when Mum asks me too. There is an issue because I'm not food motivated and have allergies. So the treats I get are special and I guess just don't smell as great as the ones everybody else is getting. But I'm having a good time and enjoy spending 1 on 1 time with Mum.
We have discovered something really great. I was very itchy one day because I got into one of Duncan's treats. Mum put a shirt on me to try and keep me from scratching and it worked! When I have a shirt on, I don't scratch. Maybe I'm allergic to myself, BOL, BOL. So I don't have to take a pill twice a day and I'm not scratching. So we got 3 new shirts just for me. Duncan's first mom didn't want me to wear the shirt to skool. She thought the other doggies might make fun of me. So I now have a wardrobe.

I started class on Saturday. There were only 3 of us and I was the biggest doggie in the class! We are also all black dogs. I was good and introduced myself to both Ben and to Mitzi and made sure I gave them each equal time during our 10 minutes of socialization time. I went between them because neither of them were making a move. Finally Ben gave me a play bow but it was too late and we were back with our pawrents.
I'm not real sure about this "watch me" stuff and I don't like to sit. I either stand up or I lie down. Nothing half way about me, BOL. We haven't been very good with the homework this week, Duncan tries to hog all the attention. He knows all this stuff and shows me up. Mum tries to ignore him, but the big lug is too cute.
Hi pals,
Sorry for the delay in getting you my test results. It's the typist, not me, that is the problem.
The test was negative which is good! That means I don't have an infection. I am finally healthy. I still am a bit itchy but so much better than when I first came to live with Mum.
This new health has solved my house training issues. See Mum, I told you I knew what I was supposed to do, I just couldn't do it because I was sick. So I tell her when I need to go out and when I want to come back in. I am a good boy and deserve more freedom. But Mum isn't so sure yet. She says poor Duncan will not get any rest if I am free most of the time. I do like to play and play hard just like every other young Scottie boy. I do zoomies, fetch toys, love to squeak them, boy do I love to squeak toys. The louder the better. But Duncan doesn't seem to like my squeaking toys in his face. I'm just trying to get him to play. But there is a lot of growling and snarling involved and Mum doesn't like her boys doing that. So I guess I'll have to wait for more freedom a little longer, but at least I'm healthy.

Hi Pals,

I had a very nice first Christmas. Ho Ho was very good to us. We got several new toys and had a very good Christmas Eve dinner with steak from the grill. Mum said we got the good dinner then because she had to go to make dinner with the extended furamily on Christmas night. I squeaked all the new toys as hard and long as I could. Duncan took all the tags off of them and then he opened 2 up and started to take the insides out. I got in on that action but Mum promptly took those away and picked up all the stuffing. We still have more good tough toys. Our favorite pet sitter came and took us for a long walk and then Mum got home in the evening and took us on our last walk of the day.
I didn't get a crate because I'm still having medical issues that are most likely causing my problems. I have an appointment on Friday with the Dogtor. I have to go and stay for half a day while they do things to test me. I'm not sure what they are going to do. The last two times I went there the nice assistant and Mum took me for a walk. Everytime I lifted my leg the lady would put a bowl under me. It was throwing off my concentration on the job at hand. But it was a nice ride in the car and no needles or other rude things. So I'm hoping that what Friday will be like.
I got to see my first SNOW! My pal Bacon sended me a Snowman and he brought the snow with him. We have several inches or feet or it comes over my belly but not my head, so it's that much. It is great stuff. You can plow into it, jump through it, roll in it, bite it, eat it, turn it yellow and just really have a great time with it. I've been burying my favorite things in it.
I'll let you all know how my day with the Dogtor goes. She is very nice and always has special treats for me because of my allergies.
Bye for now!

My itchies are still here a little but so much better than when I first moved in with Duncan & Mum. Got my last shot so I am good to go until next September. But there is something else Mum says we have to do but probably not for a few weeks yet. I'll get a chip in case I get lost so they can scan me. It will tell them that I live here with Mum & Duncan. Duncan has one already. He tells me there is a little more to this procedure than just a chip. Says I may not like what else they do but I may calm down a little and stop bugging him so much.
Other than the visit with Dogtor Fox nothing else much is new here but the weather is no longer hot out. It is wonderful. I can stay out for hours and run and run all around the yard and bark at the squirrels on the other side of the fence. They don't come into our yard anymore. BOL! BOL! Duncan & I told them who is boss of this yard and it isn't any gray, furry squirrel. I keep hoping to catch one but they stay just far enough out of my reach that I can't reach them.
Here is something new! Mum says I am going to the groomer to get my first haircut. I am a shaggy mess (her words). So this should be interesting. I'll have to get new pictures when I'm all handsome.
Bark at you later,
Hammy

Hi Pals,
I had a visit with my Dogtor on Monday evening and I am doing much better. There are no problems with my skin. This is the first time I can remember that I don't have any super itchy patches. I have the occasional itch but it isn't constant like it was. Maybe it's the diet or maybe it's because the weather is changing here. I don't care (right now)which it is, just that I am feeling and looking better. I got my shot, and now all I need is one more and I'll be good for a year except for, what is that again Mum, neutering and a microchip. Whatever they are I can handle it. I'm becoming a healthy Scottie boy.
The Dogtor also said that Mum can feed me more. I like that idea a whole lot. I am up to 15 lbs, 4 oz but am underweight for my size. I am now as tall and as long as Duncan but only a little over 5 months. So Mum, load up the food, I'll be chowing down all that you put in front of me.
Sorry I don't have my new pictures up yet. Mum is having computer issues, but promised we'll get them done very soon.
Duncan & I take all our walks together now. I was so surprised on Saturday when we took a different path in the morning. We went to places I have never seen before. There are railroad tracks to cross and the Post Office and a bank and all kinds of new stuff to see and smell. It is great. We did it again on Sunday morning too, but Monday it was back to the regular route. Oh and our new girl pup furiends went home. So we just visit with Jersey the Westie when we go by now. Lots of things are changing and when I can get Mum to type more for me I'll tell you all about them.
Bye, Woofs & Licks,
Hammy

Hi Pals,
It's been a while since I've written in my diary. I am now 15 pounds and not quite 5 months old yet. And no, I am not chunky like Duncan. I am as long as Duncan and almost as tall. He still has quite a weight advantage on me, but I am quicker and faster than he is. I still have my itchies, but it's not quite as bad as it was. Maybe the limited diet is working or what ever is bothering me is no longer in it's prime season.

I enjoy my walks and have been telling Mum I want to go on the morning walk too. But so far she says that is Duncan's special time and I have to wait until whenever it is that she will let me go along with them.

We met some really cute girl pups over the weekend and they seem to like us too. We see then on our walk and spend quite a bit of time discussing the neighborhood through the fence. Mum says they are only going to be here through the weekend cause their families will be home. They are staying with a non-Dogster pal of ours named Jersey. He's a Westie like, Z-pup, Whitley and Finley. But I have to be careful. Both Duncan & I have been invited to a play date two houses down from Jersey at the house of Cocco. She's a toy poodle who was infatuated with Duncan until I came along. Now we both are making eyes at her but like I said earlier, I'm quicker and faster than Duncan. So anyhow, I need to be sure Cocco isn't out when we visit with the new girls because I don't want to make her jealous.

Everyone have a good safe long holiday weekend. Do they celebrate Labor Day in the Canadas?

Bark at you soon.
Luv,
Hammy

Hi Pals,
I went for my third Dogtor visit last evening. The good news is I am growing. At 16 weeks I am 12 lbs, 4 ounces. That means I should be about a 25 lb Scottie when I'm full grown. Which is bigger than most Scotties. So I am special, that's what Mum says. Now for the not as good news, I have issues. I am still very itchy and scratching which just makes it worse. The dogtor said it can take up to 8 weeks for the new diet we started last month to take effect. We changed my prescriptions last night and hope that will help. If not, I may be visiting a big University! I would go to the University of Pennsylvania to their dermatology department for help solving my issues.
I'm happy but itchy. I love walks, playing with Duncan and the neighbors and just so many things. I really am a happy guy I just have to stop and scratch a lot. I'll check back in with all of you when I get a chance. Now it's time to go out and play! Bye

Hi Pals,

I went to visit the Dogtor last evening. It was my second visit in 2 weeks. Last time I had an ear infection and some itchy skin. This time my ears are all better but my skin seems worse. They did some skin scraping which isn't as bad as it seems. They had Mum feed me a continuous stream of treats while they worked on me. There isn't any infection and I don't have the bugs (fleas & ticks), so they think I may have food allergies. I did gain 1 lb and 3 ounces. They also said I looked longer than I was last time. So I am growing. But now we have to look for different foods for me. The Dogtor said that there are not many, if any, foods for puppies with food allergies. So we are going to have to look hard to find something. This also means no treats! Except she said I could have sweet potato, yeah I like those. So if any of you have had any of these problems Mum could sure use your help. Bark at you later, time to go out for the late morning business trip.
Thanks pals,
Hamish McDuff

I've been here 3 weeks now! I really like it. I'm sort of getting the idea of what Mum wants when she talks about doing my business outside instead of in the living room on the carpet. But the carpet is right there and outside is, well, outside. I go out with her every 2 hours no matter how hot it is. It has been very hot here. The average temperature is 10 degrees above normal. So when we go out, it is quick except in the early morning.
Duncan is still explaining things to me. Apparently there are certain things around here that are his and he doesn't want to share. I tell him I just want to see for a minute and then run into the dining room with it. He chases me and I love it! But since I'm getting bigger he now thinks it's okay to bowl me over when I borrow his stuff. He'll run right over me and take it back. Then I pick up one of his other favorite things and dance with it in my mouth just out of his reach. It's a great game and he doesn't get too angry. BOL We've been taking walks together every evening. It's fun. I like to go back and forth across the sidewalk in front of Duncan and then behind him. Mum waves her arms in the air switching my leash from one hand to the other. I am giving her exercise too. (I've heard the arms can get flabby on the peeples)
Tomorrow I go back to the Dogtor to get a shot and have them check on my ear infection. Can't wait to see how much I've grown in 2 weeks! I'll let you know how the Dogtor visit went later this week. Did you check out my new picture? Aren't I a cutie?

Hi Pals,

I went to the Dogtor for the first time this week. Well, I had been to another Dogtor before, but this is the first time I went with Mum to this Dogtor. I behaved very well. They were all impressed by my super charming personality. I have an ear infection but we are fixing that. I don't like ear drops and cleaning! But they do feel better. My weight at 12 weeks is 9.6 lbs. The Dogtor said that at 16 weeks you double my weight and that is what I should weigh as a full grown Scottie. That means I'm going to be a big boy! I go back to visit again in 2 weeks so we'll see how big I am then.
This very nice person who sometimes comes and takes us for walks was laughing at my big feet yesterday. She says they are so big I trip over them trying to run. I'm doing the best I can. This growing thing isn't easy. All kinds of changes happen. My first day here I couldn't go up or down the steps. Now I beat Duncan out to the yard.
Well, that's all for now. I feel a nap coming on. Bark at you later.

Duncan said NO! This is mine and you can not, absolutely, no question about it, let there be no doubt, positively have my frisbee. So I learned that lesson.
We have been playing together more and I'm doing better with "house breaking". Seems more like "you do your business outside" to me. Humans use such funny names for things some times.
I took my first walk yesterday. Mum put this thing called a harness on me, I tried to bite it and get it off but I wasn't successful. Then this leash thing was attached. I knew I had to take control at that point. So I bit down on it and refused to let it go. We have company for the weekend. She is very nice. Duncan says this was his first Mom, that he lived with her for a while before he moved in here. So she had my leash and Mum had Duncan's leash and we all went around the block. There was all kinds of interesting things to see and smell and I met a beagle named Jake. He and Duncan are pals. They take turns seeing who can pee the most on a tree. Someday maybe I can join in that game.
I also had my first bath. Special Oatmeal shampoo for my dry skin. My food also is different now. It has more fish in it. Isn't that what Zaidie eats?
Anyway it is very hot here. Wish we had some of that rain that Finley and Whitely are having. We are only going outside for 15 minutes at a time. So I am spending some time playing with Duncan and sometime in my pen for naps. Oh, and I got my first taste of Cheese! You guys are right it is just heaven! Bark at you later I think it is time to go out again.

Hi Pals,

Boy is it fun around here. Duncan, my new brother, is so helpful. He knows all the best toys and things to chew, which bowl is the best to drink from and where to stand to get out of the sun. All I have to do is watch and then do what he just did. Sometimes I have to take the good toy and get into the water bowl or grab that treat in order to get the full effect of all the wonderful stuff he is teaching me.

My pen got bigger. I came back inside, not last night but the night before, and it was just bigger. Maybe it is growing too! Now I have more room to play. I don't spill my kibble or water when I play.

Mum said something about this being Friday and that she was happy because it is a 3 day weekend. What is a weekend?

Bark at you later. It is time for my afternoon romp with the neighbors!

Hi,

I'm new here. In fact I'm new pretty much everywhere. I just moved into my furever home on Sunday afternoon. Duncan is my big brother. This is different than how I lived before. I have a Mum, a brother and a cat sister named Nora. She lives in a different part of the house than Duncan & me. I've seen her but we haven't really met yet.
Duncan is teaching me some of the things a dog needs to know. He told me today that he has a tolerance level and I exceeded it with my exuberance running around the yard playing tag with his beard. Other than that he has been great with sharing his toys and treats. I have a pen that I'm in when Mum isn't around. There are very friendly people that come to let us out in the yard and play in the afternoon. Can't wait until they get here today. They also let me have a snack that Mum leaves out just for me! I need to learn some more stuff before I write again. Bark at you later!
