Hi all and thanks so much for the birthday wishes and presents!

We were in a dog hotel for about a week while mom & dad were on vacation. We were somewhat bored but Tallulah and I kept each other company. I really wanted to go out and play; when mom & dad picked us up I started running around like crazy. Tallulah was a bit quieter, and mom says the stay at the hotel helped her with her back and joint problems, since she got a lot of rest and short walks; we're used to pretty long walks which she likes but she does get a bit tired.

We're now ready for winter! I like playing in the snow, hopefully we'll get a lot of it this season.

Cheers!

Hello! So I had to go to the vet last week! Here's what happened, fortunately it wasn't too bad!

A few weeks ago I started getting some scabs which itched; so I'd go licking and scratching them. At first mom & dad thought I was just scratching myself when playing in the park, as there are a lot of twigs and branches. However these things kept appearing, and I'd been mostly playing in grassy, open areas, so no chance I'd get scratches there.

So they decided to send me to the vet; I walked there with mom, and the vet gave me a good check. She said it was not a parasite, rather it was some sort of bacterial infection that was causing my skin to scab. She gave me some antibiotics, and prescribed some fish oil to improve my coat, because she saw my coat was dull and my skin was quite dry. I have pretty coarse fur, so mom & dad thought it was just how I was, but the vet said it wasn't normal.

So now I'm taking all these medicines and I'm already a lot less itchy! hopefully the oil will also help me have a nice and shiny coat, to match Tallulah's, now that she had a bath she's all soft and shiny!

Well, off to take some more fish oil! See you!

Hello! I've been very busy doing lots and lots of excercise! Yes, even in the crazy summer heat.

in April we went for our annual health check, booster shots and flea prevention refill. As part of the process we get weighed, and usually the vet gives an assessment on whether we need to lose some weight.

This time my humans didn't need to wait for the vet; the moment they saw my weight (57 pounds) they said "PIG!". Maybe they thought I didn't understand! but I did. It's not my fault! I do a lot of exercise so if I'm overweight it's because I'm being overfed. Remember we doggies just eat what's available.

Anyway, mom & dad decided to put me on a diet. I started eating less and kept exercising. However they were sneaky about it so I didn't really feel like they were starving me to death.

A few weeks later we went back to the vet because Tallulah had hurt her paw (it was all infected and swollen), and I got weighed again. I'd lost 4 pounds already! So the diet is working! And it even helped with some digestive problems I'd been having.

Being lighter is great, I can run faster and jump higher, which really helps when I'm playing fetch. Plus it's better for my joints and tummy. So it's a win for everyone!

See ya'll soon!

Hey all! So fall is here, and I'm kinda glad summer is over. Even if fall hit with a cold spell and lots of rain! I was cold inside the house so mom put my sweater on. I don't like wearing clothes! but after a while I realized it was warm and cozy so I now tolerate it just fine :)

So the reason I'm happy summer is over, is because we won't get as many parasites now! see, during summer we get fleas, both Tallulah and I got ticks, and mosquitoes which eat both Tallulah (short haired) and our humans alive! argh! Not to mention nasties like snakes and spiders.

But now that it's getting colder all those critters will just go away. But I did get one last nasty surprise!

I had a white bump on my nose, and I kept staring at it. Luckily dad saw it too, for it was a tick! a really tiny one, but it was really attached to my nose.

So dad took it out with tweezers, but it was so burrowed in that I have a small bump on my nose now :( Mom & dad said they'd be monitoring it and if it doesn't get smaller I'll have to go see the vet. I'd rather avoid that! but anyway, hopefully it will be the last tick I'll get in a long time!

Stay warm everybody, see you around!

A ...

Hey all! so yes, winter is over and it's given way to a green and flowery, if very wet, spring!

After all the snow melted, the grass and tress started blooming like crazy! All the bare spots are now covered with crazy herbs that grew out of nowhere, and almost overnight, the trees sprouted leaves! there were also many pretty flowers, some that grew with all the rain and thaw water, and some that people planted so their gardens would look nice!

For me, the bad thing about spring is that I have allergies :( it's something that didn't happen in Mexico because the spring there is very different. In here, all the plants want to grow so they start launching pollen and stuff. So I started sneezing about 4 weeks ago. Mom & dad thought it was a transient thing, but as my sneezing worsened, they worried and took me to the vet. The vet prescribed some benadryl, which is something humans use to control allergies. It seems to have worked as I no longer feel the tingling in my nose that makes me sneeze.

I recovered enough from the sneezing to be left in a kennel for a week, while mom & dad went away on a trip. I was very worried that they'd leave us there forever, but I took it as my responsibility to reassure Tallulah, who was very sad about the whole kennel thing. Eventually, after a week, mom & dad came to get us, and I gave them a lot of licks and kisses!

Now we are all together, and ready to begin enjoying the spring (yeah, as soon as this devilish rain clears up, it's been raining for 4 days). So now I'm going because I need to put on my doggie raincoat to go for a walk!

See ya!

Hey all! I've been quite busy with winter sports which are soo fun!

I've tried ice skating, snowshoeing, some hockey with rubber balls and a puck, and chasing my ball in the snow.

But my greatest adventure was when I went sledding!

Mom & dad got a sled to try sliding down the snowy slopes of Mount Royal. So one night we went out to try the new sled. Mom would slide down while dad took care of us doggies.

I was scared and worried because sledding looks dangerous! so I'd bark and jump around trying to go after mom & seeing if she was ok.

So they decided to invite me to show me it wasn't that dangerous. Dad got on the sled, put me there with him, and off we went, down the slope!

I got off the sled and was nervous and excited. Still, dad saw I wasn't outright scared so we tried again, and again, and several times we went down the slope on the sled.

It was a lot of fun! I eventually realised it wasn't too scary. But since it was very cold we had to go back home. Still, that's one more winter sport I've tried!

See ya in the slopes!

Hi! so Mom & Dad have been busy preparing for Christmas! So much has happened in their lives this past year (including adopting me), that they almost hadn't realised it's my first Christmas! well, last year it was Christmas too, but I was just an abandoned puppy and didn't know such a thing existed.

Tallulah has told me all about it, and how there are presents and lots of yummy food to be expected! She told me about some nice sneak-under-the-table tactics she saw Bela use some times, which I can do easily because I'm smaller. Still I'm thrilled to see what will happen!

Tallulah also told me that they used to get together with the entire family for Christmas; since the family is in Mexico, this time it looks like it's just mom, dad and us doggies. But we'll do our best to keep them happy and cheerful!

So best wishes to you all and hope you enjoy all your Christmases as much as I'll enjoy my first with this family!

Ever since I was a puppy and mom & dad rescued me, they've been telling me stories about Aullido. He was their first rescued dog and died quite unexpectedly one year ago.

I never had a chance to meet him, because he died a few weeks before I was rescued. Still, when I came to live with my new family, I could see, everywhere, the voids left by Aullido's passing. His presence was so loving and strong, and his death so deeply felt, that even now, one year and four thousand kilometers away, I can tell mom, dad & Tallulah still miss him.

Mom & dad have been a bit nostalgic all day long, thinking about Aullido, and how they changed his life by adopting him when he was lost, abandoned and without will to live. He soon improved and became a vital part of the pack. He, in turn, changed their lives with his love, protection and gratitude.

As painful and unexpected as his death was, I prefer to think of how mom & dad gave him a chance to be himself and love a family again. He seized that chance and had countless great adventures with his family. It's a reminder that, no matter how sudden or painful his passing was, what remains the deepest inside his family's hearts are the great adventures and love they had together. That is a legacy any doggie would like to leave. The stuff of legend!

Hey all! So winter is fully upon us here in Montreal. It's already quite cold and mom & dad say it'll get a lot colder. Luckily we're all equipped for the weather. There's also winter sports for us doggies to enjoy!

As the landscape changes, mom & dad have taken time to acclimate us to new stuff. First we went play in the snow, after a bit of fetch I was all covered in snow and ice, it's kinda fun but my paws get chunks of ice which hurt. Luckily mom & dad got some oil to protect my paws, and a set of boots for me to wear, this way my paws don't even get wet.

Later mom & dad took us to a frozen pond, to get us acquainted with ice. It was thick enough for me to do some ice skating, mom & dad threw my ball on the ice and I went fetch it, before I knew I was gliding over the ice! it was fun and let me know what to expect on icy surfaces.

I've also been snow-running with mom, and jumping around in the snow, it's all been really fun!

Sadly us doggies are not allowed on the actual ice skating rinks, they look quite dangerous because there are humans with sharp blades and stuff!

I'll let you know about more adventures, right now we're off for a nice evening walk in the snow. See ya!

Hey all! so Mom & Dad were concerned about leaving us alone in the apartment. So they found a pet store that takes care of us (sort of a doggie day care), and sometimes when they need to, they walk us to this store, leave us there for a few hours, and then come get us and go home.

Now, Tallulah is way too sensitive, so she makes a big fuss, gets all blue and refuses to eat or have fun.

On the other hand, I'm an extremely sociable doggie, so from the get-go, I went and made friends with all the other doggies in that place; went play with the cats; and befriended the owners with my cute looks.

These people speak some very weird languages: english and french (which mom & dad also speak), but also russian, which I hadn't heard before. It's ok, because with my cute looks, nobody can resist. They end up giving me treats all the time which of course makes me like the place even more! so it's no surprise that when we get there, I go in wagging my tail hoping to be with my friends.

Once, they gave me so much food that I had a nasty indigestion, was bloated like a balloon (figuratively speaking, I didn't actually get bloat or anything) and couldn't sleep. Mom & dad ended up having to take me out for midnight walks so I could poop. But this was during the season's first snow so even then it was a cool adventure. After that, they've asked the guys at the pet store not to feed me too much, because I'll eat anything! but that takes half the fun out of staying there. Oh, well! See ya soon!

Hey all! it's my birthday today!

My future was uncertain when I was born; it was downright bleak when, at two and a half months of age, I was tied up to a tree. My luck changed when mom, dad & Tallulah found me. It's been a love story ever since, full of adventures, some good and others bad, and plenty of opportunity for me to help them and show them my love.

Thanks to them my first year has been a very nice one; I learned lots of tricks, went to doggie school, made a lot of friends at parks, and eventually moved to Canada with my family. I'm glad they chose to bring me here, as by now we work quite well as a pack and every day is an adventure here.

This year also brought very difficult moments for my pack; I've been able to help, at least by being positive and supporting my humans in hard times. As a doggie it's my calling in life! And I'm sure when I'm in a tough spot they'll also be there for me.

So here's to my family and to living many more years with them!

Thanks to all my Dogster friends and hope to also stay in touch with you! See ya!

Hi my friends! Greetings from Canada! Yeah, that's what the weird business with the kennel was about! I had a hunch this would happen but never thought it would be so hard! I traveled along with Tallulah, who tells the whole story on her diary, and we were both terrified. We thought we'd never see mom & dad again. But luckily, after a long and scary airplane trip, we landed safely in Montreal, where dad rescued us, and later that day we reunited with mom. So we're a family again, as usual.

Here in Canada there are a lot of animals: squirrels, which drive Tallulah crazy; raccoons, which come out at night and drive Tallulah crazy; seagulls and ducks, which I like; and nastier stuff like snakes.

Sadly, one of my favorite games, which is starting a barking contest with Tallulah, is now forbidden; people here aren't too fond of barking doggies. Mom & dad say there's a lot we have to learn, and one of those things is controlling our barking.

Still, I like it here very much: I can go for early morning runs with mom, I sometimes get to play with my tennis ball, and although I had to say good-bye to all my doggie friends in Mexico, mom & dad have already found a few dog parks here where I can make new friends. So hopefully we'll adjust to life here! there's also this winter thing where mom says it gets very cold; but I'm not too worried. I mean, how cold can it really get?

See ya!

Hey all! Long time no see! I've been mostly up to my daily routine, which I've got down pat after 6 months with my family. However not everything is routine, as you'll see.

A couple of weeks ago, mom & dad went out of town to visit relatives. Since their trip was a couple of days long, they decided to leave Tallulah home, and take me to stay with my grandparents (dad's parents). It's weird because they live in an apartment and have two cats, and everyone was worried I'd be a mess. But I did my best and behaved really well, and we really had a good time! grandpa & grandma took me with them to run errands, to get some coffee, and for walks, I got to play ball and sleep with them, and the cats didn't bother me once!

Still I was thrilled when mom & dad came back to get me. I had a great time but I still prefer to be with family.

The next day they took me to the vet. They left me there in the morning, I was so sad! then the vets gave me something to make me sleep. After I woke up I was a bit anxious, but after a couple of hours mom & dad came to pick me up.

So now I'm home, recovering, although the surgery I had was minor, and very well performed, so now, 8 days after the fact, I'm almost entirely recovered; all that's left is for the stitches to be removed, in 2 days' time. Then I'll be back to my normal life, because so far I have been unable to go out and play with my friends, and it's driving me crazy! (not to mention mom & dad).

So what happened to me at the vet, you ask? I got neutered! And it wasn't as awful as everyone says it is; I'm pretty much my old crazy self anyway, and mom & dad say it'll be better for me in the long run. I can tell you, after the first couple of days, it doesn't even hurt anymore! so if your humans want to neuter you, don't be afraid; it's ok.

Be seeing you!

Dear Dogster friends, I'm very sad to tell you that Grandpa dearest did pass away. Mommy's still devastated so I've been licking her tears and making a complete fool of my self to keep her as happy as possible. I know I'm still a young pup, but my love for her is humongous and I know it shows as she does beams me a huge smile from time to time, so I'm bound to do my best for her.

In other, more light news, we had a rescue just the other day. Her name is Ginger and she was a stray, just like me.
It happened while we were driving to our Sunday promenade. In the top of this vehicular bridge, she was there, trying to avoid cars, scared like hell. Mom was driving and she told Dad who, just like a crazy goat, jumped off the car without even thinking twice about it. It was a very dangerous move as the cars were coming really fast, but it also was an only-chance opportunity to rescue little Ginger.
He finally reached her and pull her back to the safety of his arms. She was so scared she even tried to bite him! At this point Tallulah and I were barking like crazy, we were so worried for dad.
With Ginger in her arms, and Mom shielding them with the car, Dad walked until they were off the bridge and they could safely cross by the street-walk.

There Dad checked on her. She was trembling like a leaf and going into shock. She had some scratches as a car did gave her a good push. Dad decided to take her to the vet while we continued with our Sunday visit to Grandma's. Once we saw he was fine, Tally & I were at ease.
Latter we learnt that Ginger was at the vet's, resting and getting better from her wounds. There she will be spayed, get all her shots and put into adoption.

This whole adventure made me wonder, I was a stray too, hadn't been for Tally & Dad who found me abandoned, tied up to a tree, I have no idea what would have become of me. Now I have a family, a home and the confidence of a secured life. I love my pack and I know they love me and will always take care of me. I know I'm a lucky pup but I also believe every single dog, weather with pedigree or mutt, old or young, big or small, deserves a home and a family. It is up to you, good and proud dog owners to make a difference, to promote adoption, spaying & neutering.

We are always happy to help nice homeless dogs to find a home, so if you know someone in Mexico who would like to have her, please send us a message.
Hey all! I'm just a 5-month-old puppy but already I'm faced with one of dogkind's most important tasks: to cheer my humans up during hard times.

My grandpa (mom's dad, human of course) is at the hospital and is not doing so well. All the family is extremely worried; as I said I try to cheer them up, but honestly I'm more concerned about mom, since she's the one I spend most of my time with. So I'm trying to play with her and be friendly. Sometimes I overdo it and they get mad at me! but hey you can't blame me for trying too hard :P

I think us doggies should be allowed to go to the hospital; grandpa likes to play with me, and I'm sure he'd feel better if I could give him a couple of friendly licks and let him pet me. But I can't go there. Sometimes humans are so strange!

So in the meantime, Tallulah and I are doing our best to be with our humans and give them our best vibes. And we're hoping grandpa does get better!

See you soon!

My human mom's dad has been feeling ill. They tell me he is 84 years old. I'm 4 months and a half so 84 years seems really, really, really a lot!

A couple of weeks ago I got to spend 3 whole days with him at his home in the country. I like him a lot, he plays soccer with me, even thou he has to use a walking cane. He also likes to give me and Tally treats and food when ma & pops are unaware. He's sneaky in a good sense which only makes me like him even more.

Well, he got sick last Saturday, his face paralyzed for a whole day long and the human veterinary tells that he has a concuc, conssic, concuz, I mean concussion after a fall he had some time before, and some nasty blood clot near his brain which was he cause of his injury. He was hospitalized for 4 days and is now in our home. He will have to stay with us, just resting, for 2 weeks, then have some x-rays taken and then the human veterinary will decide if he should stay a bit longer with us.

I don't mind at all, I like his company. He smiles whenever I take a shoe to him so he can play fetch with me. And grandma also pampers me, she likes my hugs. I know how to spread the love and so I do in time of need. If my family needs a lick, a laugh or the tickles from my spiky whiskers, then I'm more than happy to oblige.

I also got my last puppy shot last week! So I won't be seeing the vet for a long time I hope. Puppy class has also been going well, with puppy friends and treats. The only thing a bit nasty for me is the heat. I get so tired after my afternoon walk and need to drink lots of water to cool down.

Other than this, I have noting more to report but I really wanted to stop by and say hello to you all.
Back to taking care of Grandpa.
Woof!

Hey all! I'm just getting the hang of my new life with this family, but here I am to tell you about an adventure we had about 2 weeks ago!

It turns out it was my adoptive grandma's birthday. So we all went to this house grand-aunt has about 100 kilometers from where we live (Mexico City). This is a place called Cocoyoc, and it was mostly really fun. It's lower and closer to the sea, so the weather is more humid and hotter. This is not good for a black, coarse-haired doggie such as myself, but I tried to make the best of it anyway.

What's nice is that great-aunt has a HUGE garden with soft grass, lots of plants and places for a dog to run and explore. Tallulah showed me around and soon I was running around the garden and house. It was really fun!

The only thing I was unsure about was a "pool". This is like a small pond or lake, but man-built (they are crazy I tell ya!). I failed to see the point, it was big and one could easily fall in, but the water can't be drunk.

So there I was, basically ignoring the pool, when suddenly daddy came out of the house and went inside the pool. Honest, just walked right down some steps that led from the edge into the water! I was beside myself with fear! is he going to drown? is he crazy?

Suddenly he submerged! oh dear, I thought maybe he drowned! I went to Tallulah to see if she knew what to do, but she was nervous too, pacing up and down.

All of a sudden dad came out of the water and started yelling "it's cold!" he tried to see if I was interested in getting in. Like hell I was! maybe he's crazy now! After 2 days of games and hot weather this was too much for me, I ran inside the house and hid in a corner.

After a while dad returned, this time dressed normally. I was glad to see he hadn't drowned. Tallulah explained that sometimes humans go inside pools just for fun, although she confessed she didn't really understand it either; she says she fell in the pool once before and it wasn't so fun.

Anyway, although our stay there was fun, I was glad when we finally packed up and came back home, away from that dreadful pool.

See ya'll!

If love is meant to mend,
then your hearts I will save.
I know of your loss,
as two furry angels who shined
like the stars from the sky
up above so high, told me so.

I know that you grieve
and so, I’m here to retrieve
all pain, all hurt and even despair
with some slurping & nice tricks
I’ll make them vanish, just go away.

A mission I have:
Take good care of your hearts
Pamper ’em, make ’em shine again
with some joy and some laughter.
some cuddling and kisses,
with tickles from my spiky,
and pointy little whiskers.

Dear Mom and Dad,
I love you so much
so I kindly ask, with all my might
Would you care to be my sweet Valentines?

Wow! How quickly time goes by.
I have just reached one month with my pack. So much has happened and I'm learning more and more each day. From being a good pup with Tally (that is not biting her), getting puppy shots (which I hate, last time I puked all over the vet, je je) and going to puppy class.

Yes, I'm gonna be an educated dog. Dad says I'm all wit so he wants me to learn all kinds of stuff. Good part is he uses yummy treats and a funny noise-making thingy he calls a clicker. So far he does a happy face when I sit and give paw and I get my treat so I'm happy to oblige.

About the puppy class, wow! So many friends, so much play time and also I get to do "exercises" after which I get some more treats so count me in! I will gladly go every day but they are only weekly.

I have been having fun and I also feel safe and pampered with my pack. I feel a strong bond is growing between us. This weekend I'm visiting Grandpa & Grandma, they have a huge garden where I can run and play, everyone's nice to me so I really like being there. Mom tells me we'ĺl spend the night there. It is going to be my first night out of my house so I'm nervous about it, Tally says it's not a big deal but as long as I have my pack with me I know there'll be nothing to fear.

More adventures to come. Woof!

My life s ...

Let me introduce myself. My name is Mathias and today was the day that changed my life.

My life story, short as it is, goes like this: I am a Giant Schnauzer mutt who was roaming the streets of Mexico City just by myself at only 2 months old. I can't really recall how was it that I lost my mom and siblings, all that I know is that some person put a leash on me and left me tied up to a tree.

So I spent the whole morning there, a bit scared, a bit lonely when suddenly there they were: a nice man and the biggest hound I had ever seen. They passed me by and about 10 minutes latter they came back, but they weren't alone. A woman was also with them.

She came to me, petted me, untied me and then held me in her arms. Off we all went to their home. There I learned their names: Dad, Mom & Tallulah.

I have been with them for 24 days now. I have been taught how to sit, come & give paw. I have been taken to the vet to get some shots. I have been on walks, have played, have eaten and taken baths. All the while learning to live with this pack and falling in love with each of them.

Do they love me back? you might ask. It wasn't easy for them, Tally tells me that the pack had lost 2 members -Bela & Aullido- not so long ago and that they were gloomy & heart broken.
I know I'm no replacement and that I have big shoes to fill. But you know what? I now know they love me too!

Today mom and dad came to me, they told me a huge decision was made, that this was not a temporary home for me anymore. Today for the first time I was reassured they were my pack, that they were my family forever more and that this was finally my home. Our home.

When they told me this there was no gloominess anymore, but remembrance and hope for the future.
I am a lucky puppy as I know two angels, up in the sky -Bela & Aullido- brought us together.

I'll be sharing my adventures with you.
Now, it's time for me to go and make some puppy pals!
