Hi Pals,
Just want to fill you in on all the fun I had fur my Barkday. It was pawtastic. Plenty of my favorite foods, steak, peanut butter, mashed potaoes, ground beef, sweet potato and cheese! I got a ride in the car, a long Sunday morning walk and I got to set the pace fur the evening walk. I could sniff as long as I wantd. And then the presents and well wishes. I want to thank MR Jack O'Freckles for the nifty picture. And I got cheese and hats and steak and a cuppy cake. Thanks in no particular order to Fizzy, Scooter, Misty, Mr Cutter, Pepper, Austin, Doo, Sophie Clare, HD, Whitley, Finley, Riley, Zoe and Zaidie. It was a great day made so much better thanks to all my pals.

Today I am six! It's a wonderfur day. I had my long Sunday morning walk all through town. Fur some reason Mum brought Hammy along too. Can't figure out why, it's my day not his, anypaw it was wonderfur. We got a tiny bit of snow over night and I love to eat snow. So I had a few quick nibbles on the way. When I got home I got a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast. I love peanut butter and I only get a sandwich on my barkday. I heard there will be steak in my honor this evening and Mum will even light the grill to make it. There is also a rumor that I and only me get to ride in the car to Petco to pick out a new toy. How's that for a special day!

So we started the weekend just like normal, early walk, back to bed, Mum get’s up and goes to the store, everybody else sleeps in. The regular Saturday stuff. Then in the afternoon we get our walk and dinner and are getting ready to enjoy the evening camping out on the peeps when they start doing weird stuff. They both go up to their rooms and change into going out clothes. What is this? They haven’t left us alone on a Saturday night in months. Hammy and I are left home alone with a plain old dog food dinner. At least they left the TV on fur us.
They return after an unacceptable period of time. Mum hooks us up for a privacy please stretch of the legs. We all then settle in to watch a bit of TV. Mum was holding me like she always does cradled in her arm with my head braced on the back of the recliner. All of a sudden I’m making these strange noises and then a burst of urka gurkas. Like a fountain I was, gushing forth some unpleasant discharge all over my belly and Mum’s shirt and pants. Luckily the chair was spared. My first mom ran and got some towels so she could take me and Mum went and got out of those smelly, wet clothes. I got a bath and was banished from sleeping with my first mom like I do every night. So much fur sympathy fur the poor pup that wasn’t feeling well. Mum let me sleep in her room, but not on the bed. I was fine once I got whatever it was out. I think I was just upset about my Saturday evening routine being broken. What do you think?

Yesterday afternoon I heard some strange noises outside the house. Being head of security here I was up to the job. Seems someone we don’t know was roaming around in our yard and peering in the windows in the basement and at the back door. I told Hammy to snap too and we proceeded to bark the alarm! Chased that guy out of here. I think we should get a reward from Mum. What do you think?
Mum here: Seems there have been a rash of break ins around town. The boys did a great job of sounding the alarm and our neighbor across the street came out on his porch and told the stranger to get out of there before those Dobermans get out and attack you. Scotties really do sound like much larger dogs.

Every morning, before the sun comes up, Mum gets up and takes us out fur our morning walk. We go up our block to the end and turn right, then down two blocks and turn right again. After this we can add a little variety. Sometimes we just turn right and stay on the same side of the street, and sometimes we cross the street! Wow, what a thrilling life we lead here in South Jersey. After that we proceed down 3 blocks, turn right, go one block, another right fur one block and then the last right turn on our street to head home. Along the way we stop and sniff and do privacy please. Sometimes we find little treasures on our way. If Hammy is sniffing over there and pulling a little, Mum will turn away from me fur just long enough, and I can snag something good. Being a handsome Scottie I have a very nice, full beard. And as a wheaten it is a light tan color. So if I find something the same color and it is small enough to fit under my beard I can on occasion pick up something I want to bring home fur later. This is what happened yesterday. I found the perfect treat, a large pizza crust, no tomato left on it, so no tell tale color on me or it. We had gone to the point on our walk where variety sets in and I opted to take the shorter route. No big deal, sometimes I need to freshen up my marking on that side of the street. Everything was moving along as I had hoped. We get to the end of our street, normally we continue to get to that last block with the open lot. Great sniffing there. Well I decided I wanted to get home with my prize, so I turned up our block. Mum was very surprised, you see I will normally walk until I drop if you let me. So she said something about maybe I wasn’t feeling well. Any who, we get in the house on the sun porch and this is the tricky part. The leash and harness come off here. The leash is easy, now I have to have this pizza crust in exactly the right spot so Mum can get the harness over my head. Oh NO! She discovered my prize. All that work lost. It was just too big this time. I’ll have to look for a piece that is just a little bit shorter next time so I can get that harness past it. She threw it out and said something about not knowing what had chewed on it before I got it and getting sick and some other stuff. But I wasn’t listening anymore, just too disappointed. So I ate my breakfast and sulked.

Wow, it was wonderfur. We had 4 whole days in a row with Mum and my first Mom. They both would come and go a bit but no lockdown. We had free run of the whole house all the time.
The weather was great on Thursday and Friday and we had plenty of time out in the yard on patrol. Friday afternoon Mum made us put on our new ties fur our holiday pictures. They were quite pleased with the results. How could the pictures be bad when you have 2 handsome Scottish lads as the subject? BOL!
On Saturday Mum baked a turkey breast. It smelled terrific in here, when it was done, we each got a taste. Boy was that good. It was so good I didn’t eat my dinner that night because I was holding out fur turkey. Got a tiny taste but not the amount I was hoping fur. So I broke down and ate breakfast with no turkey, boo.
Got some great yard patrol work done yesterday. Our neighbor called and told Mum there were 3 turkeys walking up the driveway next door. What he didn’t know was there were 3 turkeys in our back yard! Mum told us to get to work and out we went. I went to the left toward the 3 in the driveway and Hammy took the 3 in our yard on the right. I barked mine really well. They went all the way to the far side of that yard and eventually took off flying. Hammy got those 3 out of our yard real fast. They flew up in the tree and hung out there fur a while. Then they took off too, all heading back to the river a block and a half over to the North. I wish we could have caught one then we could have had our own turkey dinner.

We are fine. That nasty Sandy was here fur a very long time. Our power went out around 8 PM last night and didn't come back on until around 2 this afternoon. That was a long time but better than what the power company said. They said could be anywhere up to 7 - 10 days before everybody is back up and running.
The good news is both Hammy and I were perfect pups during all this. Mum drug us out at the best times and we did our business and then went right back in the house. Also our house held up great even with all those strong winds. Didn't even lose a shingle. So we are very happy pups. Just wanted to drop a line so you know we are fine. Hope to hear from the rest of our pals that were in the line of fire. Bark at you later!

We were on our evening walk last evening and as we headed down the next street sidewalk there it was, right in the middle of the sidewalk, 10 feet ahead. Mum said you better move on squirrel or these guys will be after you, but it only twitched its tail. It was trying to get away but fur some reason it couldn’t. Hammy & I were pulling as hard as we could but Mum, she’s got a tight grip and some extra ballast to keep us on course. So we got rerouted across to the other side of the street. The neighbor came out and said “thanks for leaving it there, now I have to take care of it”. The squirrel was still alive and I don’t know what happened to him. I know what Hammy & I had in mind. Mum said no. But why not?

It hasn’t been overly exciting around here lately. You can tell because Mum doesn’t write anything in our diaries.
I am enjoying the weather change. I am much more of a cold weather guy. The summer was really hot and I am glad it is over although I do like the extra sunshine hours, cause we get to stay outside longer in the evening. Mum gets all worried about the critters that come up from the river at night and so makes us come in by 7. It will get even earlier once the Daylight time is over and we go back to Standard time. I don’t understand the peeps. Why not just let the time be the time? I know when to get up and when to go to bed. I don’t need somebody to tell me.
Yesterday we did have some excitement but it wasn’t nearly as good as it could have been. There are wild turkeys that show up around here from time to time. They are big, dark and ugly. They were in OUR yard. We were stuck in the house. It was just before Mum got home and by the time she got here they were gone. Hammy & I could have had a great time chasing them. We maybe coulda had a Thanksgiving dinner of our own, BOL.
We have lots of new neighbor pups this year. So far, we like them all. There’s Bea an Akita. Hammy has a thing fur her. They always have to touch noses through the fence. She barks every time we get near her house so she can come out and see us. Then there is Hershey. He is a cute guy of mixed parentage. Looks kinda like a Bassett Hound and Cocker Spaniel mix, has big, fuzzy feet and his ears reach all the way to the ground. He’s fun to play tag with when we go by his place. Then there is Diamond. She a Pittie mix and we don’t get to see her other than through the window. So those are the new pups around here.
I guess you all saw that this year my First Mom went all out and got us costumes. Fizzy, she brought a shark one too but it just didn’t look right and Hammy was having a fit wearing that thing. He didn’t go with the stink eye, I think you have that perfected by the way, instead he shook his whole body and had that thing really moving. So it ended up on his side and we just couldn’t have that, so he’s a lobster. It’s much more comfortable he says.
There are rumors about the groomer fur me this weekend. I heard “too fuzzy” and “the harness is getting tight again”. That means too much hair and it has to go. At least I get a car ride both ways and extra treats fur being a good boy. That’s all fur now. I hope to have another entry sooner than six months Mum!

Wow, what a weekend! It was my 5th Barkday and Mum got out the grill and made London Broil (it’s like steak only a bigger piece of meat). I got a whole dinner of it. No stinking brown rice or vegetables or any of that other stuff she tries to get me to eat. It was delicious. We got 2 new toys. I always have to share with Hammy. Anyfur we had a long walk and the weather was wonderfur. Not too hot and not cold at all.
I want to thank all my friends for all the wishes and rosettes on my page. They look great there and I really appreciate every one of them. Mum will get around to thanking everybody one of these days. She seems to be busy with work and house stuff. Still don’t understand all that business. I get the place smelling just right with the toys just where I want them and she has to go and pick them all up and run the noisy machine to pick up all the great smells we worked so hard to get.
Hammy is back at skool. The teacher I had is now at our local Petco. Mum figures Hammy didn’t learn much because he didn’t have a good instructor. Well, he now has the best and is still only reacting when he feels like it. For 45 minutes of class he is Mr. Social. Has to see what is going on everywhere, greet every person and pup, and ignores Mum and the instructor. Then once he is sure there is nothing else going on that he will miss, he will pay attention for a couple of minutes. The problem is he is not food motivated. How he can be like that? If somebody is waving a wonderfur treat in front of me, you betcha I’m going to pay attention and do what they want so I can have that treat. Not my brother, never. You can give him a treat once or twice and the third time he’ll just drop it on the floor and walk away. (all the more for me!) Does anybody else act like this?

1. WHAT COLOR COLLAR ARE YOU WEARING?

None right now. I only wear it to go outside.

2. DOES YOUR LEASH MATCH YOUR COLLAR?

My harness and leash match. Mine are blue. Mum says the blue goes nicely with my wheaten color.

3. WHAT’S WORSE? An EVIL NEMESIS SQUIRREL bouncing around in the trees or across the fence, a Crow strutting around in your yard or Neighbor People outside talking?

EVIL SQUIRRELS! Always. There is nothing worse than a squirrel.

4. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE SNACK?

CHEESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. WHERE WAS YOUR LAST CAR RIDE?

To Petco on Sunday!

6. DO YOU STICK YOUR HEAD OUT THE WINDOW ON CAR RIDES?

No, not allowed.

7. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE TOY?

Frisbees. But I only get them for a few minutes because I destroy them.

8. DO YOU HAVE A BOYFURIEND OR GIRLFURIEND?

I used to but Hamish, the gigolo, stole her from me.

9. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE WALK?

Long weekend morning walks. We go all the way through town and then back home.

10. DO YOU GO TO DOG PARKS?

No. I am very loud with pups I don’t know. Seems I have a terrier habit, barking at dogs twice my size. After all I’m a little die hard and I don’t take that title lightly. Nobody’s gonna act tougher than me.

11. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT?

In bed with my first Mom or in my pup cave under Mum’s bed or if it’s cold out on Mum’s bed.

12. DO YOU SNORE?

Not that I know of!

13. DO YOU SLEEP UNDER THE COVERS?

No, I get too warm. I’m a tough guy from the Highlands of Scotland. The colder the better.

14. DO YOU HAVE TO WEAR CLOTHES?

Only when Mum thinks it’s too cold to be outside without a sweater. Then she will make me wear a sweater to go out. But it is off as soon as I’m inside. Oh, there is that craziness at Halloween. I have to wear something then too.

15. ARE YOU THE FAVORITE DOG?

How could it be anyother way!

16. WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE SPOT TO SLEEP IN THE HOUSE?
In the cave under Mum’s recliner.

17. WHAT’S THE BEST HUMAN FOOD YOU’VE EVER BEEN FED?

CHEESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

18. DO YOU GO TO A DOG GROOMER?

Yes, every couple of months except in the winter. Mum let’s me grow out my furs

19. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF BATHS?

Not a fan

20. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU ARE BORED?

Chew on something.

But Mum left us fur hours on that first day, but not as many as those work days. She got home just in time fur last walk, just up the block and back, then bed time. Only problem was my First Mom wasn’t here that night or the next night. I missed her. I normally spend some time with her before I go to sleep in Mum’s room in my man cave under her bed. But the bestest thing happened on what they call Friday. Mum put this big thing in the oven and in about an hour or so it started to smell like heaven in the kitchen. Soon that wonderfur fragrance was all over the house. When I just couldn’t stand it anymore Mum opened the oven and took that big thing out and the smell was coming from it! I was dancing and singing and rooing and trying to get her attention so she might let me try some of it. About 15 minutes or an hour or day or something later she finally cut it and put some on plates for Hammy & me. It was the best thing I have ever had. We both gobbled it up as fast as we could and asked fur more. We got a little more and devoured that too.
The next day everything came crashing down. I had to go to the torture place to get my furs trimmed. I was there furever. Mum said that the last one until Spring so I guess it was okay. I got more of that heavenly stuff fur dinner to make up fur that terrible experience. Then Mum went out and left us again, but my First Mom came home! It was so great to see her. We snuggled and she gives the best pets and rubs. The next morning Mum took us on the long weekend walk and then back to bed. Unfortunately today is back to the regular routine, except Hammy & I went back to bed, Mum stayed up. She had to call us to get up before she left for that work place. BOL. Hope you all had a Wonderfur Holiday and remember to be good cause Ho Ho is coming!

When she plays her mahjong on Wednesday nights we might look sad when she leaves but we have lots of fun when she is gone because my first mom takes charge, she feeds us treats, chases us and best of all feeds us lots of cheese! She is the originator of shredded cheese on our food lucky for us she told mom that secret and now we have it with every meal! I may act like i don't care normally but i sit on her lap and even let her pick the boogies out of my eyes. We got to have 3 people to play with there and we got the Mom to cook for us.
Yesterday started out like almost every Sunday morning. We had our long walk before everybody else gets up. It's so nice out then, just the birds singing, the outside kitties are all heading home, the sun is starting to come up and there isn't much traffic to bark at. The temperature is nice then too! So we are having a normal lazy morning and then Mum gets up and asks us if we want to go for a ride in the car. Is she crazy! Of course we want to go for a ride in the car.
So we all pile into the back of the car and off we go. After a bit I ask if we are there yet, seems like a long ride. No just a little further, she says. So then an hour or couple of minutes or weeks or what ever late we stop. We get out and I have no idea where we are. It's just a parking lot and Hamish & I both are looking for a place with a lawn or a tree. So we all head over to the next building where there is a lawn and bushes and all the sorts of stuff we were looking to find. After our "Privacy Please" break we head back over to where the car is and head into the building.
I remember this place. When I was a wee puppy I used to come here with my first Mom. We would get toys and food and treats and chew bones and more toys here. So Mum picks us up and puts us both in the cart. She said something about hooligans. I've never heard or met them but they must be on the floor since she didn't want us there. So she picks out some things and we go to the front counter where they have heavenly things to nibble on. We can only have certain ones because of Hamish and his allergies. So I get the kind he can eat. But they were tasty. Then Mum loads the car up and we get back in and head off again.
Now where are we going Mum? Someplace you've been before she says. So another forever passes and we pull up to a house. She gets out and brings us and there is a family in the yard. Oh I remember these people. I stayed here a few days about a year or month or decade ago. They were very nice when I was here and we had a lot of fun. So I introduced Hamish and we all played for a while. Then Mum and Mrs G were talking about times and days and that sort of stuff and then it was time to go home.
On the way home Mum explained that Hamish and I are going to spend a few days there and she wanted us all to get to know each other so it wouldn't be a difficult time for us.
So it sounds like we'll be getting another road trip soon!

Well, it's been a long time since I got to say anything. The little brother gets all the typist time and she doesn't give us much. Something about work and 2 guys that take up all her time. Wonder who they are, oh, it's us, BOL BOL.
Anyfur, unfortunately my kitty sisfur passed to the bridge a couple of weeks ago. That has made all sorts of different things happen. We (Hamish & me) weren't allowed in her part of the house. Something about our prey drives being too high and Miss Sissy pants wouldn't be able to get away. So we have a gate in the hall. Boys on one side and Nora on the other. The Peeps get to be in both worlds. Starting about a week ago Mum let me through the gate. (Don't tell her but my first Mom was sneaking me up to her room when Mum went out for the evening.) I was then allowed on the bed. I remember being on the bed as a pup but once I moved here with Mum I didn't even see a bed. As a youngster I didn't understand how wonderfur beds are, and that you can spend time with your Mum all night long. So I have decided that as long as I'm asked, I will go upstairs and sleep on the bed.
Another fun thing we discovered is zoomies up and down the stairs chasing each other. Mum says it sounds like a herd of elephants up there. But Hamish is ruining the fun times. Mum's one slipper was at the bottom of the steps last night instead of at the side of the bed and the other one was in the hall. I told her, he's still a puppy. These things happen, he didn't know any better and I'll talk to him about it. So we'll all work it out. But it is just great having double the inside space. I still miss barking at Nora, but I love her old turf!

It is a sad day here, not just because of the rainy weather. My fursis, Nora, the kitty went to the bridge last night. She and Mum had been together for a long time. Even though Nora and I weren't good buddies I will miss her. We used to play a game at the gate that separated our territories. I would bark and she would hiss back at me.
Mum says one of both the good and bad things about us furkids is that because our lifespans are shorter than the families we live with, they get to share both all the joy we bring but also the deep sorrow when we leave. We are all so different but never replacable. Each leaves footprints on you heart. It will take some time, but Mum will feel better. I had a peanut butter sandwich for my dinner because I LOVE peanut butter. (and Hammy didn't get any cause he can't have bread!)Then we had Dogster treat (it's like frosty paws but peanut butter and cheese flavor, YUM). And I got to pick the evening walk, I sniffed as long as I wanted with nobody suggesting that we move along. When we got home my first Mom gave me a good rub down and spoiled me with affection. It was just wonderfur. Then I woke up on Friday and everything was back to normal. But I remember, and thanks to all my pals it was a wonderfur day!

I am 4 today. Seems like time has flown. I remember that first trip in the car with my first Mom in the tiny carrier. I cried all the way to the house. Once I got there it was great, a huge yard on a dead end lane, tons of stuff to sniff and explore. Oh I met Mum that evening too!
Now I have a smaller yard but it's all fenced in so I can wander and I have a little brother to play with and Spring is just around the corner. So life is pretty good for me. And both Mum and my first Mom are here so there is plenty of attention and ear scratches, all the good stuff. So I'm very happy to be celebrating my Barkday on St Patrick's Day and hope all my pals & their furamilies have a wonderfur celebration. I plan to bark at every car and truck that go by the house when I'm outside to let everybody know it's my Barkday!

Hi Pals,

Friday was an exciting day at our house. It started snowing just as Mum left for work. So my first Mom decided she would work from home. So that meant we could be outside playing while the snow was falling. It was great fun, I love plowing through it and running through it and Hammy is a quick learner. We were having a great time. We even worked together to get a bird that had landed in the yard. My first Mom then called us to come in. She decided the roads weren't so bad and she would go into work for the afternoon. While silly Hammy goes right in. He is such a Momma's boy, always hogging attention and doing everything he can to get everyone to watch and play with him. Anyway I had the bird and I wasn't going anywhere. First Mom hadn't seen it yet and I knew I would lose the prize if I came inside. She was so funny trying all my favorite things to tempt me, but nothing worked. I would let her get close and then turn tail and run around to the other side of the house. She did finally sneak up and surprise me and I lost my prize but I still wasn't going in the house. First Mom called Mum and she called the nice neighbor lady that lives next door. She works at night so she is home during the day and I just adore her. She speaks so sweetly and is so nice I will follow her anywhere. First Mom leaves for work and the sweet neighbor comes over twice and I finally decided since I lost the prize that I would go in for a nap in the warm house on the sofa. It was a great day!

Wow, I can't believe it! After 2 and half years I am going to be reunited with my first Mom. She has visited with us many times but Mum says that she is now going to move in, at least for a while. This is fantastic news. I love my first mom so much. If it weren't for her I wouldn't be here. She has a new job starting in a week or so and it is much closer to us than where she lives now. This will be a great. Two people and two dogs. Both Hammy and I can get undivided attention at the same time. We can play tricks and get double treats, double walks, maybe even double dinner. What, oh, Mum said she is still going to be the one to feed us, so no double meals.

My typist has been slacking lately. Something about her being busy with us and that work thing. Anyway I am now fine. My last piece of leather toy made it through my system. Mum did take me to see the Dogtor last Tuesday with Hamish. We had a good time together barking up a storm every time someone new would come in the waiting room. The Dogtor did some rude things to my hinder but everything was okay. Hamish finally got his shot. His skin was cleared up enough that they weren't afraid to give it to him.
Oh, it time to head out in the yard for our privacy please break and some play time. Bark at you later if I can get the typist to work.

It was Friday evening, Mum just took Hammy into the kitchen for his nighty nighty time. I had all the toys to myself. So I grabbed the last piece of my favorite former leather ball to chew on and then it happened. Mum thought I had it too far in my mouth and was asking me to give it back to her. As I adjusted my bite it went down my throat. I swallowed and it was gone. She was upset, but nearly as upset as I was. That was the last piece. It is all gone! I didn't feel so great Saturday morning and Mum called the Dogtor to see if we needed to come over. He said if things are going in and things are going out Duncan should be okay. We'll have to wait and see. So we are still waiting and things are still coming and going but not my piece of leather yet. I get a bit uncomfortable at times, but as soon as there is something to bark at or chase, aka: Hamish, I'm right there doing it. So Mum says we'll wait and see yet today. If it goes later than that we may need to do something. I don't know what that means. Hope it's something good. Bark at you later!

The kid went to the Dogtor on Monday and now it is going to impact what I eat! I asked Mum, how is this fair? I was here first, and I want to eat the things I love, when I'm in the mood. She says I can still have them but I have to eat them at the time she gives them to me or she will take them away. That little brother can't eat these things and he always seems to take them from me. He has some sort of allergies and the Dogtor thinks it might be food so we have to eliminate all sorts of things. I did try his new food and, don't tell Mum, but it's not bad. So I guess I'll make another adjustment and see how this all plays out.
On a better note, he seems to finally understand that some times I don't want to play. That I also enjoy a good nap and he has started to learn when I don't want him climbing all over me then.
Mum & I still have our special time in the morning. We take our walk together while Hamish has his breakfast. So I am no longer lonely, I still get time with Mum, the food is different but tasty, so it all seems to be working out. Oops, time to go out for the extra mid-day break. BOL

Hi Pals,

Life sure has changed for me. I was the King, the one guy in Mum's life. Now I am sharing her and even worse, my first Mom comes over and she gives him attention too! I am as cute as I can be, doing everything right and I still have to share the spotlight with this puppy. Yes, he is cute but he has some habits to break and many things to learn. I am trying to teach him, but he just doesn't listen. He steals my toys and treats, pushes me out of the water bowl and today he tried to immitate me roughing up a frisbee. He stole it from me and then starts pawing at it.
My evening walk now has the "little man" at my side, so we don't go as far and I don't get to sniff everything to see what changed since the morning. Thank goodness Mum still only takes me in the morning!
But, I'm not bored anymore and we get to go outside twice during the day to play and do our business. We do zoomies morning and night. It is much better chasing/being chased by Hammy than Mum. He is much faster and makes much sharper turns. So there are some good things.
BOL the neighbors are here for the lunchtime outing. Bark out you later!

Well, it has been over a week now since the little squirt arrived.I call him that because he is still learning about house breaking and that we are not to do those things in the house. I keep telling him and he'll be good for a day and then he forgets.
I had a good weekend except for the nibbling all over me. Hammy/Hammer thinks that if he starts to chew on my beard or leg or ear that I will chase him and it's a big game. Sometimes I do and sometimes we wrestle. He has gained some weight in a week and is much stronger than he was last week. We had a real discussion about my frisbee and that there is no way he is to ever touch it. So far I haven't had to bring that topic up again.
My first Mom came for the long weekend. It was great to see her and I got extra attention since there were 2 people and 2 dogs. We did a little grilling and I, of course, was on guard duty. I got some steak for my hard work. But now it is back to the work week grind. Can't wait until Saturday comes back again!

Well, I am adjusting. My new brother is just full of energy. He steals everything away from me. If he has toy #1 and I touch my chew bone, he wants the chew bone.
Hi Pals,

Mum was disappointed when the dog she was to meet didn't show up on Thursday, but she did find out that this dog was a bit more of a project than either of us wanted.
So we try again. Today she went to meet a 4 month old black Scottie named MacDuff. He was cute, but Mum says not nearly as cute as I was at that age. Boy do I have her under my control or what! BOL. Anyfur, they called back and said that there are 2 new Wheaten youngsters coming in next week if we would be interested. Doesn't sound like we are getting a shot at MacDuff, but that is okay. At least there is another possibility. We'll keep you posted!

Mum tells me that she will be getting home very late tonight. She is going to meet a 3 year old black Scottie that may be joining our family. I am excited but a bit nervous. I will be sharing the house and Mum with this dog so I will have to give up a bit of my special time, but I will have someone to play with and to keep me company while Mum is at that thing called work.
Hi Pals,

The weekend was very hot here so we didn't spend much time outside or have extra long walks. There was grilling, and I did my job guarding the meatz! But Mum did spend a lot of time on Saturday working on the application for a new brother or sister for me. We are both hoping I will still like the idea when somebody comes to live here and stays.
I have been trying to talk Mum in to staying home with me instead of going to that place called work. This morning I tried to grab her hand (I do it very gently). It didn't work. I also asked if I could go too, but she said they don't let doggies there. So I have to stay home. Oh well, we are half way to the weekend so things will be looking up!
I'll let you know when we hear something or if I get into any adventures or find new jobs or whatever! Bark at you soon.

Hi pals,

Mum is home for the fourth day in a row! Extra long walks, playing outside and inside all day. A guy could get used to this. I did a good job of protecting the meatz on the grill on Saturday but it was a large steak that took a while and I got a bit bored and maybe dozed off, for just a second or two. Nobody got near my area of protection though, so it was good work. I've also been supervising the power washing of the patio. Today I will oversee more power washing on the back of the house. The crew has been slacking a bit and complaining about the hot weather. I just go into my outside office and rest on the cool concrete while the ceiling fan moves the air to help me keep my cool.

I got my summer haircut Saturday, just in time for all this heat. The report card from the groomer said I was a good boy the whole time but I know I did a lot of wiggling, and they had to bring me up front before Mum was done at the register because I didn't like the way a new doggie was looking at me and I told him so!

Anyway pals, Mum asked me to check with all of you to get your informed opinions. She is talking about maybe a brother or sister to join the family. They would keep me company while Mum is at work and we could play all day or as long as we both wanted too. She said we wouldn't want a baby but somebody that needs a home and is old enough to hold their own with the bundle of fun that I am. So what do you think?

Oh, there a couple of new pictures. One showing me at work and the other caught me in an off moment.

Take care in the hot weather this summer. Bark at you soon.

Hi Pals,

I had a great weekend! My first Mom came on Friday evening and surprised me. Mum had gone out for the evening and I thought it was going to be another lonely night, but no, I got company. She even took me for a walk! I was so excited she had a difficult time getting my harness on right. I was jumping, wiggling and squirming all over the place.
Then on Saturday I spent the whole day outside playing and barking and just having fun. We had a barbeque that evening & I got to have some steak. It was great. I didn't want to come in to the house so Mum opened the shed door and turned on the ceiling fan for me and brought me water with ice. When I got too hot I could go in there and lay on the cool concrete floor, drink my ice cold water and relax until I was ready to go barking after what or whoever went passed my yard.
My buddy Jake the Beagle is back. He sometimes stays at the house around the corner. He and I like to romp when I go on a walk passed that house. We did our usual greeting and played for a minute before his people realized he was out front playing with me. It was good to see him. Hopefully we can play some more.
Sunday was just as great as Saturday. I spent the day outside with my first Mom while Mum did stuff in the house. All I know is when I finally came in the house was cool and comfortable and that noisy machine is in the dining room. We had another barbeque and I got a little chicken. It was really good too! I sure hope next weekend is just as good. This could be the start of a great summer!

Hi Furiends,

I had a good weekend. We had lots of sun and warm temperatures so I got to spend most of my time outdoors patroling the yard and doing my gardening. I just dig holes mostly. Sometimes I plant something in it and cover it up. But it never seems to grow.
I have a new girlfriend. BOL. Her name is Coco. She is a Lhasa Apso. She lives next door to another Lhasa Apso named Moca. He is jealous and always barks at me when I come to visit. We go past their homes on my medium walks. I know she likes me but her human sister told Mum that Coco only gets all excited when I come. We touched noses through the fence yesterday. I'll have to bring her a present on my walk tonight.
Thanks to all my furiends for all the Easter goodies. The typist is still slacking and we can only send presents from the one computer. So I will have to respond when I get the typist at that computer.
Bark at you all soon!

It has been raining or snowing around here all the time or almost all the time. I'm not good at telling time or reading calendars. We had a few nice days when I didn't get wet but it is really raining out there again. The weather people say we have had more wet stuff the last 2 months than in the records for here in the Philadelphia region. If I get to vote I want snow not this rain. The snow lasts and you can play in it, climb on it, mark it, bite it. The rain just gets you wet : (.

On the early morning walk my evil nemesis, the skunk that sprayed me late last summer was lurking about. Mum, always clueless when it comes to the local beasties, had no idea what was around the next corner. As soon as we turned, there he was. I gave my best excited bark. (Typist note: Duncan's excited bark is very high pitched and not much volume, sounds more like a Yorkie than a Scottie. No offense to Yorkies.) I knew he was scared, he turned, lifted his tail and ran under the nearest parked car. Mum just didn't understand that this was my chance to make up for the incident last year. I could have had him! I'd make him pay for that tomato bath I got. But she picked me up and went back around the corner. She knew I wasn't about to back down from the encounter. So we finished my walk by going a different way.
When she got home from where ever it is she goes all the time, we had another long walk and then I got a new toy. It was supposed to be a tough toy for strong chewers. Ha! BOL! I made short work of it and had it unstuffed and shreaded by bedtime. I got a new sweet potato chew and went off to dreamland to replay that skunk encounter without Mum's interference.
Thanks to all for all the well wishes and presents. It was a great Barkday.

I am so excited. Mum tells me tomorrow is my 3rd Barkday. She also says it is a holiday, but I knew that. If it's my Barkday, it must be a holiday!

We had a not so good weekend. The weather was not nice at all. It was raining and very windy. I did not want to go outside, not even for a walk. Mum insisted that I had to go out, so I made her go out too. BOL. There were cans that had come from a fallen recycle bin that shot down the street like little rockets. Mum kept me close to her to make sure I didn't get too near that action. Shingle were flying off roofs and gutters were damaged. It was very nasty weather. I did get a new toy. So I had that to distract me from not getting my good, long, weekend walks.

Weather has finally cleared and we had a good walk this morning. So things seem to be better. Can't wait to see what Mum got me for my Barday!

I need to fire my typist. It has almost been a month since she was willing to type my thoughts and adventures.

Anypaw, here we go. As you know I had a vacation to visit with furiends of Mum and had a wonderfur time. I had a new toy that I worked on for a few days before I got the first ear off and then I got all the stuffing out through the hole. Looked like I was foaming at the mouth. BOL!

The weather here has finally started warming up. Almost all the snow is gone but everything underneath smells fantastic. I can't get enough of it. I am taking furever to get around the block on a walk. I have stop and get all the smells I can. They will probably float away on the wind so I'm enjoying them now.

My Barkday is coming up next week so I got new toys this weekend and my first Mom came for a visit. It is always great when she comes. I get plenty of extra attention and treats. Mum took me on the long walk yesterday morning. I haven't had one that far since the snow. The sidewalks were covered where the empty lots are and Mum wouldn't walk in the street. Really having a good time with the suede football. Well that's all I have for now. Time to go out and patrol the yard.

I am back home with Mum & Nora. I had a very exciting 4 days with furiends of Mum. They had even more snow than in my yard and they made a special path and ring around the big tree just fur me! I got to smell all different things. There were lots of other doggies including a Westie like Zaidie. We arrooed together for a while and then I finished my tour of the neighborhood. There were 3 peeps at this place so I always had someone to pet and pay attention to my needs and wants. It was fantastic. I got new toys too. And walks multiple times a day. I think it is better with more peeps, they can take turns so they don't get as tired with all that walking. Since I was having such a great time I was on my best behavior. And I got invited to go and visit with them again. I just have to get Mum to go away some place again. That's all fur now. I need to settle back into my regular routine.

Hi Furiends,
It's been a while since I could get Mum to type out my stories. We've been having lots of snow here. I'm not getting my favorite long walks. The snow is too deep for me to get through on my own and Mum says she's been too busy shoveling to type fur me.

It is supposed to be snowing today but right now it is not doing much of anything. Something called a lull before it really gets bad out. We had about Scottie shoulder high snow over night. It is always such a fun surprise when Mum opens the door first thing in the morning and there is a fresh coat of snow for me to run into and mark.

She keeps telling me I'm going on a vacation, to visit with furiends of hers for a few days while she goes someplace else. I don't know about this. These peeps are very excited about me coming for a long weekend. Can't imagine that they wouldn't be. After all I'm about as cute as can be! Just not sure I want to leave my house and yard fur that long. I'm the guard around here. My job is to protect Mum, Nora and the house. Guess I'll just have to protect these new peeps while I'm there. Hope they have lots of good treats.

That's all the time Mum is giving me today. She going to do the shovel thing again before it starts snowing again.

There are so many things I truly love.
1). I love my Mum. I don't know where I would be without her. She stepped in to give me a home when I needed it most.

2). I LOVE walks. They can be to anywhere I don't care where we go just so I get to go somewhere outside. I can sniff all the different smells and leave mine for every other pup to sniff.

3). New toys to chew and destroy. I dont' so much want to destroy them I have to do it. I'm a Scottie and it's my job to chew things up. There can be no stuffing in a toy in my house!I have to chew and chew and chew until I get at least a corner open and get all that stuffing out. Sometimes it's pink stuffing, sometimes It's green, and special times I get a squeeker out too!

4). Treats. This is really a tie with toys. I will do almost anything for treats. My new favorite is Sweet Potato with chicken. I'll sit, give paw, even come for those.

5). Hector & his Mom. They live next door to us and Hector comes over after school to play in the yard with me. He lets me out of the house so I can do my business and then we run around.

6). My first Mom. We had some tough times but she will always have a special place in my heart. She gives the bestest tummy rubs.

7). Weekends. That is when I have my most fun. Mum is home and we do extra things together, like take long walks or go to PetSmart, or go and visit her Mom & Dad.

8). My yard. I have a completely fenced in yard. I love to go out and dig and bark at everyone going by to say hi.

9). Barking. I love to bark. Mum says it's cause I'm a Terrier. If I see a dog on TV or a horse or a monkey or hear a bark I have to bark.

10). Snow. I love to run in it, plow my nose through it, roll in it. Generally I think it is just the most wonderful stuff. After it's been on the ground a few days, it gets a crust on it and then I can climb on top and make my mark!

That's all I can think of of the top of my head for now. Like I said, I love lots of stuff!

Hi Furiends,
I had a wonderful time with my first mom. It's so nice to see her and spend time. I got lots of belly rubs and neck rubs (they're my favorite). I got a new Kong Womba. It's blue. I chewed a small hole in it and did some major damage to 1 of the straps. But it is still good enough that I'll have it for a few days. And then I find out I was a diary of the day selection. Wow, what a weekend, BOL!

The only bad thing was I got a bath. Now I have to start over collecting scents. Oh, and Mum trimmed my beard a bit and my eyebrows. Seems she didn't like my finding a chicken bone and carrying it a whole block before she saw it in my mouth. Then it was bye bye bone. So now she can see when I pick something up. But it's okay, my hair grows really fast, BOL! It will be long again in no time and I'll be able to sneak more unseen treats.

We lived together for almost a year but I was too much for her at the time. That's how I got my furever home with Mum. This means I'll have 2 people for tummy rubs, treats, walks and to play with all weekend. BOL!

Hi furiends,
I had a weird weekend. Saturday was great. Mum & I went to PetSmart early in the morning. Most of my favorite people were there & I got lots of treats just for being me! The lady that sold us the sweater was there and she remembered me, I am soooo memorable! Anyway I got to bark with a few other dogs and see who was getting a haircut. It was lots of fun. Mum got me treats for the month and a new toy! It was a rotten kitty medium size. Note that I say was.
After shopping for me, I waited in the car while Mum got everything else at the food store. I get to "people watch" when the weather is warm enough but not too warm for me in the car. We got home and unloaded and I got my toy. Mum made her lunch & I worked on the rotten kitty. I got the ear opened up in 6 minutes. By the time Mum came back into the living room there was stuffing all over and an empty toy. There is still some stuffing in the arms and legs, so I can still play with it. She was a bit upset. It didn't last very long and now I have to wait until next trip before I get a new toy. We had a couple of long walks and really had a good time.

Sunday was a different story. We took one long walk early and then it started to rain and get colder. It did wash away all that salt on the sidewalks so now I'm allowed to walk there instead of always on the grass. But it was so miserable outside that I didn't want any more walks. I went out a couple of times but very quick trips. I was soaked and had to roll all over the rug to dry and Mum got the towels out and dried me off. Saturday was so nice and the outside was so bad on Sunday and now it's Monday again and I'm here alone waiting for the neighbors to come let me out and play this afternoon. Maybe they'll come early. I hear it is a holiday.

I got nothing to say this week. No weather stories, no new toys or exciting adventures, no nothing. I can't wait until the weekend when Mum is home and we can maybe go somewhere or do something fun. I don't like these weeks where she works all those days in a row. I keep asking every morning if we can take a long walk and each day she says no, I have to go to work so we are on a tight schedule. Not a happy Scottie :(

I can tell it's the day called Monday. We didn't take the long walk. Just the regular one this morning. I did go in the car for a ride to see Grandmom & Grandpop yesterday. I like to go there everything smells different. Grandmom always gives me lots of treats and Grandpop likes to play. But I don't like their new place as much as the old one. They had a wonderful window there that went all the way down to the floor and there were chipmunks outside that would run back and forth and I would bark at them and they would run even faster. Mum would take me out back & I could smell for them but they wouldn't come out when I was on patrol! BOL. Now we just have a window from the 2nd floor and no chipmunks. But I still like to go visit.

Hi Furiends,

We had about 1-1/2 inches of snow overnight. It was just the right amount for my legs. I can easily get through it and it is fun to romp in. Mum & me took our very early morning walk and nobody else had been out yet. The snow was all smooth & perfect. I got to put the first paw prints in and make the first marks of the day. When Mum was clearing the walk and steps I ran around the yard checking for squirrels and kitties. Didn't find any. I was careful to not jump too much, I don't want a boo boo like Ernie.

The TV people say we're getting 1 - 3 inches of snow starting tonight. That's just the kind of snow I like. I can run through it, plow into it, roll in it, push it with my nose and leave my mark on it. Only bad thing is, after the snow comes it is going to get really colder again. That means I'll have to wear my sweater and Mum won't want to take the long weekend walks.

It's not as cold today so Mum & me took the regular walk this morning. The TV peoples say it gonna get even colder this weekend. That stinks cause that's when we takes the really long walks.

Chewed through my last new toy yesterday. All I have left are my chew bones and the outsides of the toys. I opened up holes and took all the stuffin out of dem. They not as much fun to play with, but I can still play tug of war with Mum. She says I gots to make do for a while with these. Seems toys must be spensive if dey only last a few hours. Dey need to make special Scottie toys that last. We really good chewers.

Mum said it is too cold out for us to take a regular walk. We r taken short ones instead. I don't like this. She makes me wear my sweater and we still don't take the long way! I don't care about the cold but I don't like the wind. It makes funny noises and rearranges my look. Yesterday we turned the corner and my beard & eyebrows were blowing straight back. It was not a good look for me. Hope it gets sunny and warmer soon so we can take the long way again.
