I felt a little better when I got up this morning. Mom was still worried about my tummy so I got just a little breakfast which was mostly rice. Then mom got out our dog class bag and I was very excited. Once on the road I noticed mom was going somewhere familiar. As soon as she made a couple turns I knew we were going to the dog park. Apparently since we are leaving town mom arranged for some of my friends to be there for one last play. When we first got there no other dogs were in the small dog area. So I just sniffed around and went potty. Mom noticed my tummy was still not good and I had runny stool.
Then my best friend Meadow the Beagle showed up. I was so excited to see her and her humans. Mom and I are really going to miss these great friends. More dog started showing up. Some I knew and some I did not but they were all very good and we played great together. Then a big dog came into the little dog area. Mom started to go over to the dog’s owner. It was our friend Sweet Pea and her mom. Sweet Pea is also a service dog. We only were able to visit with t hem for a little bit as we had a private lesson with our trainer.

When we got to the lesson our trainer gave mom a very nice note explaing how we have been doing access training with her and that we are prepared for public work. Mom was very pleased, not that she will show it to anyone but it is nice to have. Mom told the trainer about my tummy and she wanted to work me with no treats. I was not in favor of this but I had no vote. The trainer and her dog worked very close to mom and I. We did greetings and walk bys. Guess what I was perfect. All of the training in class yesterday paid off. The trainer then asked mom to work me without the gentle leader. I did perfect with no treats and no head collar. We did all kinds of things from the CGC class I was taking. Then mom left me with the trainer for the separation part. Mom thinks the reason I was standing up on the trainer yesterday was that I was alerting her to all her pain. Today while mom left me I was very good and only stood on the trainer once and that was when she had a stabbing back pain. The trainer was impressed that I knew about her pain and was trying to help. Then the trainer told mom that I could do everything to pass the CGC test and in fact I just did. Mom was so surprised and excited. The trainer explained that we had done the whole test without treats and a head collar so we passed. Then we took a break in the classroom and I got to play with the trainer’s dog who I like a lot. After I was done playing I did not fell good and threw up. After they cleaned up my mess we went back out into the store and worked a little but I was not feeling good then so we quit. I had been feeling good and having fun until that happened.
We then came home and I am resting. Mom says I do not get to eat until tomorrow morning and she pushed some pills down my throat. Mom thinks between the other treats and all the playing today is too much for me.

Mom has to go see her pain doctor but I am staying home. Mom says I need to just rest and get over this tummy thing. I am feeling a little better.

Okay I am back. Apparently mom did not like the looks of me and got out the thermometer. I told her I did not have a fever but she did not listen. So you know what happened next. Just as I thought my temp. was normal. I am actually feeling a little better. Mon is home from the doctor with new info. Basically she is doing all the right things with the head pains. The doctor thought it was very nice how I can alert mom to when they are going to get worse. She had two new possible diagnoses so mom is going to research them.
Well mom and dad are heading out to dinner with friends. I was going to go but mom said I am not well enough.

Mom took me for a little walk as her back was hurting. I then went grocery shopping with her and dad. I was very good. Mom used the cart because of her back and I heeled perfect next to her. I have gotten very good about the shopping cart. Once the shopping was all done we hurried home so mom could have something to eat before our final intermediate obedience class.
All but one person showed up to our graduation. Our trainer gave the humans a slip of paper with things to do through out Petsmart. We worked on all of the things we have learned over the past 8 weeks. It was a lot of fun, as we keep running into other class members working on the list. All of us did really well. One of the tasks was to do a sit stay in front of the birds. Well until today I did not know they had birds in the store. I was fascinated by the birds and wanted to chase them. Needless to say we spent a lot of time here until we got it right. Mom says they sell the birds and you can take them home. I want mom to buy me one for my graduation present.
Once back in the classroom we all got our diploma. Mom forgot her camera but some nice people took pictures of me in my graduation cap. If we get one, we will post it. I got to play with some of the dogs and all of the people visited and commented on how well everyone has improved.
When we got home mom was wiped out and headed for the couch. I got up and cuddled with her and then alerted to her that her head was going to hurt. She knew I was probably right and she took one of her pills. She now has an ice pack on her neck for her head and a heat pack on her back. Mom is defiantly done for the day and so am I.

Sunday 21- Last night when we got on the train we were the only ones in the lower disability area. There are 12 seats in their own room. Later on the trip we did have 2 more room mates who were very nice. I did very well on the train. Mostly I just slept. Mom had a hard time getting comfortable but I can curl up and sleep anywhere. Mom wanted me on the floor but these bratty kids kept going bye and opening the door. Mom was afraid to fall asleep with me on the floor. Our attendant is the one who suggested I be up with mom for safety reason. So mom put my blanket on the seat next to her and it was great. I did not go out to potty until we got to Klamath Falls 10 hours later. It was very cold but I did do both and felt much better afterwards. We got into Chemult and then got on a little shuttle buts to Lapine. It was only a 20 minute ride and our friend was there to pick us up. We went to her house and I get to see all my dog family. There was a total of 6 other Norwich there. My sister, my mother, my great great grandmother and some other relatives. Most of them were very nice especially my sister. We were very hungry so our friend fixed both mom and I something to eat. I was born at this house and after awhile I was right at home. Everything was going good until my breeder groomed me. Mom has been hand stripping me but I needed a little spiffing up. I did not like her doing this but I was good for her. In fact I was way better for her then I am with mom. We went to bed early as we were very tired.

Monday-22 this morning we went shopping and to lunch. We went to a very nice ladies house who I met when I was a baby. She came and saw me at the house I was born at. She has 3 Norwich all related to me. They have a very nice house and I got to explore and run around there with them. Then all of us went out to a very nice restraint for lunch. All the humans ordered soup and the ham, Brie and caramelized apple sandwich. Sounds kind of weird but they loved it. I was perfect at lunch and everyone was impressed. This is the first time they saw me out working. Then we went to a nice Pet supply place called Bend Pet Express. Our friend brought my sister in with us and I got to go in without my vest. Mom bought me an antler to chew on and some goodies for some friends. The next stop was a doctor’s office. I was in my vest and we waited patiently. Mom was not sick she just wanted to see her old doctor. He is very special to mom and also owns a Norwich terrier. He helped mom years ago when many other doctors would not. He was so glad to see mom and meet me. We then went to a few more stores and back to our friends and I played with my sister some more.

My life has been very busy and very fun lately. I have had trouble getting internet access as well but here is an update.

Friday 19th-This morning mom and I drove to Ollie’s house. From there him, his mom. And me and my mom went for a walk in El Cerrito. We stopeed at a place called Sam’s Log Cabin so the mom’s good have breakfast. They were very nice to us and our mom there. The food was very good or at least that is what the mom’s said. Once the moms had filled their tummies we headed to the Bart station. Ollivander has some photos on his page and I will have some as soon as mom uploads them. I was a little unsure of the trains but with Ollie working bye my side I became used to them. We rode the BART a couple times and hung out on the platforms as well. I did very well and even layed down and relaxed on the last ride. My mom loved watching Ollie stand and balance while riding. We then walked back to Ollie’s house and I went in my crate in the jeep for a nap. Mom went in and met Ollie’s sister Sabrina. Mom said she was a very special dog and that she really connected with her. Mom was very relaxed after her visit. We then dropped Ollie and his mom off at the University on our way back to hour hotel. We were pooped and thought we were in for the night. Then around 6:00 we got a call from Jolanda and Reethy’s moms and they wanted to comer over to Emeryville and have dinner. We then went to a place called the elephant bar and grill. We had a great time. I got a little fidgety and at one point I was standing on Jolanda. The mom’s had a good time and loved their meal. We got to bed around 10:30. Mom was very tired and I conked out a well.

Saturday 20th-This morning mom and I went over to Peet’s coffee place across from our hotel. We were relaxing when Jolanda and JoJo’s mom and dad came in. I was in my vest so Sonja ignored me. I wanted to hug her so bad but had to wait. We visited for a while and then headed to the Berkley marina. We had a great walk. Reethy and her mom also showed up and Becker’s mom. I met JoJo for the first time she does not have the patience with me like Jolanda does. She was cordial though. I followed Jolanda around and did everything she did. After our wonderful walk we headed over to the Marketplace for lunch. The mom’s picked out some stuff and took it up to our hotel room to eat. Me and Reethy played and had a good time. After that we packed up and checked out of our room.
Next we went to Ikea. Ollie and his mom and dad were there as well as iris and her mom. It was very crowded but we had so much fun. I was very good. Ollivander’s dad took some great pictures and they are on his profile. My mom has a few and needs to post them as well. Following Ikea we went to VO a very nice restraint in Oakland. There were 5 people and 3 dogs. Ollivander, iris and I were all on our best behavior. The humans all had a great dinner and visit. Mom and I went pack to the hotel parking lot and organized what was going on the train. We then went into the lobby and waited for our taxi to the train station.

Sorry it has been so long but we have been very busy. Here is an update on our trip.

Monday 16th we left in the morning and picked up mom’s friend at the phoenix airport. I did not get to meet her until later as we just pulled up and she hoped in and I was in my crate. We did not go far and they saw a cracker barrel to stop at to eat. Mom put my vest on and we went into eat. I was very good, and when we came out and mom took my vest off I got to meet he friend. She was very nice and I liked her right of way. We drove all day and ended up in a place called Primm on the CA/NV border. We stayed at a hotel/Casino called Buffalo Bills. I was pretty wild when we got there. Once I got to run around the room
I settled down. During diner I kept alerting to mom because she needed to eat and a headache was coming. So mom took her medicine with dinner. She always seems so surprised when I am right. Then we went to the room for the night. Mom was very worn out and we went to bed early. Because of that I woke mom to go out at 4:30. When we came back in I got to lie on her bed with her until morning.

Tuesday 17th- A very loonnngggg booorrriing day. We stopped to eat once and I was very good. When we got to my mom’s friend’s ranch it was dinner time. I was very excited as there were all kinds of new smells. There were three little dogs and one big dog, lots of cats, horses, cattle and 3 goats. The big dog was a border collie and he was very nice. The other 3 did not want to play. I really like mom’s friend and her family and they liked me. They were very nice to me and kept telling me how cute I was, which of course I am aware of. It is still nice to hear it all the time.

Wednesday 18th- This morning I went out to help with chores. Mom did not want me to get dirty or smelly as we were going to eat and the hotel later. The other dogs got to eat and roll in horse poop. I had to be packed around by my mom and it was very embarrassing. I did get to meet one of the goats up close and gave it a kiss on the face. I was worried about the big horses. They liked me but I was not sure of them. Then mom, her friend and her daughter and I all went shoe shopping. I was perfect in my gentle leader. They all tried on lots of shoes and it was boring. Eventually they all picked out a pair and we went to San Tan Row. It is a very fancy district in San Jose. The have shops, restraints, hotels, and apartments. My tummy started hurting and all of a sudden I had to poop. But there was no where to go and I could not hold it so I pooped with there on the sidewalk. Mom was embarrassed but understood as my stool was loose. Her friends were great and even helped clean it up. After that I felt much better. We then went to eat at a very nice restraint on their patio. They all said the food was fabulous. I was pretty good but I did alert to mom she needed to eat. I then settled down. After a while I kept alerting mom’s friend who was next to me. She ignored me and they all just thought I wanted attention. These humans they never listen. Come to find out later that day she did not feel good and got a really bad headache. SO THERE!! We then said our goodbyes and mom and I headed to Emeryville. We are staying at a very nice place and they even gave us a nice rate on a suite. We relaxed in our room for a while then got in the car. I was thinking oh no here we go again.

We ended up going for a walk with a very nice poodle named Ollie and his very nice mom. These are our friends from right here on Dogster but we had never met them in person. Ollie and I both wanted to play but we went on a walk instead. The walk was to get me used to the sounds of the BART (bay area rapid transit). The tracks are in the air and we walked under them. At first I was very worried but Ollie helped me realize that it was fine and I got better. We then went to a restraint were Ollie and I wore our vests and worked sided by side. We both did very well while our mom’s ate dinner. We then took them to their Rally class. I did not go in but mom watched for a while and enjoyed it. We were both exhausted and went back to our hotel and went to bed.

Today we went for a little walk in the morning and then headed over the big bridge to meet even more Dogster friends. It was very foggy and mom was nervous and I kept grunting at her from my crate. She reassured me she was fine but I knew better. The GPS took us to the wrong place but eventually we all met up at Crissy Field in San Francisco.
There was Jolanda and Josephine’s mom but they were not there. Mordecai and his parent’s flights got cancelled so they stayed over and we got to meet them as well. Also Becker’s mom drove up to hang out with all of us. Mom put my 20ft line on so I could run around. I am not trust worthy so I do not get to be off leash yet. It was really fun Sonja ran with me and I went really fast. I had a great time and appreciate her doing that with me. Mom cannot run like that. She took tons of pictures (mostly of me) I was a ham and kept posing for her. I like her a lot. She says she is going to steal me from mom. I hope not but I would like to see her some more. She snuggles really well. Mordy put up with me and was nice to walk next to him. During lunch I snuck him a few kisses. Mom was very tired and after lunch headed back to our room. Sonja needed to take Mordy and his folks to the airport and Becker’s mom was going as well.
We put up a few photos with more to come. We are both exhausted and calling it a night.

We went on a jeep run today. I love to go out in the desert in the jeep. When I was little the second day I was with my new parents I went on my first run. This one ended up not being that long so we were home early enough for mom to get some things on her list done.
Mom shifted the piles around. Now that eh yard sale stuff is gone she has more room to spread everything out. I am going to have my own suitcase with all my stuff in it. I will have to supervise mom to make sure she gets everything I need.
Mom has to do some printing tomorrow. She wants to take some of my new flyers as well as she needs to print out all the SDIT laws of the states we are visiting. She is going to make copies of my vax records so she will have a copy in each pack. Tomorrow she will do laundry and organize what is going to see how it will all fit. Dad is going to wash the jeep for our trip. I also heard I am getting a bath and my nails done. Mom wants to have everything packed so she does not have to be stressed Monday before we leave. I am worn out from all the bouncing around in the jeep so I am already conked out for the night.

This morning mom got up very early (5:30 am) to get ready and go over to our friends for the Yard sale. It was 41 degrees out and I was not impressed when mom took me out. I was glad I got to go back to bed. I nave turned into a weenie with the cold and not a really early morning girl. I got to hang out with dad. We went to see the neighbor who I like that just had heart surgery to cheer him up. Then we hung out on the patio watching TV until mom came home. Mom said we made some more money for the trip. Mom was very wore out and needed to get some stuff done before our private lesson at 4:30.
I did great at our lesson. This was the first time this trainer has seen us in public. First we worked for 20 minutes in the room on me staying still while she approached us. By the end I could lay perfectly still while she petted me. Then mom put my vest on and we went to Ross. We worked on heeling out side for a while first then we went inside. Mom put me on a down stay for about 8 minutes while she and the trainer looked at goodies on the dog Isle. The trainer was very impressed. Little children walked by with in inches of my nose and I never moved. Then mom walked over to me and the trainer asked “can she hand you her leash” and mom said I could. So she asked me to give it to her and I picked it up, stood on her leg and put it in her hand. She was so impressed. Then later mom accidentally dropped her clicker and I picked that up for her also.
After the lesson we went back to the classroom so the trainer could give mom some notes to work on. I got to have all my stuff off and play with her dog. What a great reward. Mom was so happy with our lesson and how well I did. Tomorrow we are going on an all day jeep run with the jeep club.

I did very well at class and did all of it on my gentle leader. Our trainer said it was the best heeling she has ever seen us do. There were only 3 of us in class so we got lots of one on one with the trainer. Then we worked on stands and stand stays. We also did a little recalling. Tomorrow afternoon we have a private lesson with the trainer in the stores around petsmart to brush up on a few things.
Mom took everything for the yard sale tomorrow over to our friend’s house. I am told I do not get to go. This did not make me very happy as it is my best friend Meadow’s house.

This morning mom took me for a walk with the gentle leader and I did very well. I only pawed twice. Mom cannot believe how much nicer I heel with it on. Then we all loaded into the car and headed to mom’s pain doctor. Dad and I dropped her off and we ran a few errands. Mom said is good for me to stay in the car when she gets out. I used to whine but now I am getting better. Besides we were doing Costco later and another doctor and mom did not want to over do it. Her pain doctor is pleased with the injection results on the herniated disc in her neck but not happy with her back. He is sure mom has pinched nerve or nerves in her back which radiate down her legs. When we get back from vacation she is going to get a neurological test done on her legs to pin point the location. He then suggests the injections in the correct location. We all hope it will just get better but it has been 3 months and not much has changed.
I was very good in Costco. I did sniff a little but did pay attention to mom better then usual. We then took all the groceries home and then just mom and I went to her Nurse Practitioner appointment. I was very excited in the waiting room but mom brought my mat and I did settle down eventually. Once in the room mom put me on my mat and gave me a chewy to occupy my time. When the NP came in I got all wiggly. She is so nice but never makes eye contact with me. I here her tell mom that she just wants to pick me up and hug me. Well good news mom’s blood pressure is finally lower but her heart rate is still too high. The NP is hoping that the medication kicks in and lowers it. She is also concerned about mom’s hypoglycemia. Mom has been getting shaky and light headed but is better after eating. She is going to do some blood work on her and sent her home with a monitor to see how it is.
Mom has been piling up more things to take over to her friends for the yard sale they are having Friday morning. We leave on vacation in 5 more days and mom still has lots to do. I try to help but mom says I am really not that helpful.

Mom was up early this morning because her back was hurting. So after she got situated on the couch with her heating pack I came up to snuggle. Mom started to tell me all about the places we are going to visit and who we will see. I was so excited as I love stories. Well she started out nice and then it turned into a lecture. It went something like this.

“Now first my friend is going to fly in to Phoenix and we will pick her up at the airport and drive to the bay area. We are then going to stay at her house for a night or two. Now while we are there I want you to behave yourself. No chasing the cats and do not bug her little dog Gretchen too much. Also there will be horses, do not bark at them blablablalbalba.
Then we are going to the bay area to meet some other SD and their nice owners. Now try to behave. Do not jump on everyone and remember not all dogs want you to kiss them and clean their ears, blablablabla.
Then we are going on a train to see Carole my best friend and your breeder. Try to behave on the train and when we get to her house there will be a lot of other Norwich running around. Do not forget your manners and blablabla.”

Luckily for me Terriers posses the ability to tune things out and especially their owners. Plus I interpret things differently then other dogs. Here is my take on things
I get to go to a ranch were I will try to sneak a roll in the horse poo, chase cats, and bug some dog named Gretchen, Then I am going to the bay area to bug the crap out of some older service dogs, were also everyone will tell me how cute I am. Then off on a train were I will be the life of the party. Then to my breeders house to run around like a wild women. Yup over all sounds like a fun trip.

Mom and I are both okay we have just been very busy. Mom is getting ready for our trip in a week. She has been busy filling orders for the travel mats as well as all her medical appts. Her back and knees have been giving her some trouble but bearable. Mom and I have been working with the gentle leader. It is helping me to be more focused and heel much better. I am still fighting it just a little but mom gives lots of treats and encouragement. Today I did much better on our walk.
This morning mom and I went to Wal-Mart and Joann’s fabrics to do a few errands. I did very well in both stores. In fact mom dropped two things and I got them for her and brought them up to her knee. Mom did not put on my gentle leader as she is going to wait until I am no longer fighting it before using it in public. Mom did not take her walker but used a shopping cart instead. I wore my new red harness and it was great. The little pouch worked well.
Our house is a mess and it is stressing mom a little. Between getting ready for the yard sale on Friday and the trip on Monday mom has piles everywhere. I like them as I sniff and reorganize them for her. I made sure to get my smell all over the mats so the dogs who receive them will know who helped make them.
I am getting excited about our vacation. I do not understand most of it but I am sure it will be fun. We are going to stay on my mom’s friend’s ranch for a night and then we are going to meet a bunch of people with their SD’s. Then we are going on a train to see my breeder. She has a whole house full of Norwich I get to play with including my sister.
Mom is taking her laptop so hopefully we can do a couple entries while we are gone.

Mom was up really early this morning and gathering up stuff. Right away I noticed my pack, collar lead, bait bag and other stuff. Then mom loaded me and the walker in the car. We went and picked up my friend Meadow’s mom, but Meadow did not get to come along. We then drove for a while and when we got out of the car I heard lots of dogs barking. Mom used her new disability parking permit so we would not have to walk as far. Mom then got me suited up and got the walker out of the car. We no more started to walk and ran into a man with a Norwich terrier. The man was very nice and knew my breeder, and his little dog was very handsome. Mom and her friend chatted with the man, but I was working so I could not visit. It was hard as he looked like all the dogs I grew up with as well as my real mother. The judging of Norwich did not start until 9:00 so we walked around the vendor’s booths. Mom and her friend oood and aaaahhd over stuff. We then watched the terriers being shown. I kept seeing all the little dogs running by me and I wanted to join in. Mom kept having me focus on her and I did very well. Then we went and did some more shopping. Mom saw some stuff she wanted but decided to do all the shopping later. It was then time to watch the beagles, as that is what my friend Meadow is. Once that was done we went to look at these beautiful collars for hounds. Mom wanted me to have something wider on my neck that she could slip on and off. They were beautiful but the best part is there was a big bone to chew on and a bowl of water. I think they were for her dogs but she said they could share with me. Mom and the lady kept interrupting my chewing to try on all kinds of collars. Mom decided on real nice red leather one with silver hearts. Mom said it looks kind of western. The lady thought I looked good in the rhinestone one but I am not that kind of girl. Then at another booth mom found leather and chain martingale collars but they did not have blue in my size, so they made one for me. Mom also bought some of the paw wax for when I go to malls and stores with slippery floors. I also got a lamb ear mmmmm. What a long fun day. The walker helped mom but she is still sore and wore out. Mom is going to take pictures of my new collars and post them but probably not until tomorrow.

Okay I could not sleep so here it is
The pack overall is very nice. It takes a little more to put on and off as it has the chest plate and you have to put their foot through one side first. Dora did not like this at first but after a while she was fine. There are lots of adjustment points and I still need to work on a perfect fit for Dora but I am close. The bags are a little big for Dora and of course they will never be filled. I am going to put in a couple stitches to close the expanding part a little. I do not need the room and they may not stick out as much. I think for larger dogs they would especially be really nice. I love having the pack to put her cars, flyers, and a few of my meds.
Now for the hanging patches I made (pictures on her profile page). I love the concept just need to tweak how they attatch. It is nice to have one set of patches and I can move them around to anything. When we were in Vegas over the weekend they were great. In the evenings and mornings I would take Dora out for her business and a little walk. I did not want to put her pack on so I just put the service dog in training patch on the top ring of her lead and out we went. I can see in future many times this will come in handy. Just to run in a store or in the summer when it is really hot.
No review on the boots yet as I have not had the time to really try them out on her.

We are home from Las Vegas. It would take too long to tell you everything that happened these last several days. I will try to touch on the highlights. We arrived in Vegas on Friday night and stayed at Sam’s Town. This is the first place I every stayed as a SDIT. Just like last time all of the staff were amazing. They always found us the best table in the restaurants and followed good SD etiquette. The public is another story. Most of them were good but a few got upset at mom when she would not let them pet me and discouraged the whitty whitty dawgie stuff. Mom did really well and did not need her walker the whole time even though she took it. She did however get two head pains which I alerted to her ahead of time. Mom was then able to take her medication and lay down before they became really bad. The most exciting thing happened on Friday night. Earlier in the day I alerted to mom that something was going to happen. She ignored me for a while and then decided I was alerting to an upcoming head pain. She took her medication and we went up to the room so she could lie down and I could have dinner. I alerted mom just in time and the pain did not get severe. Mom then took me outside for a potty walk and then went to find dad. He was playing some slot machines that he and mom had never played before. Since mom was still a little off she played next to dad. Dad told mom that even though these ones were pennies she needed to play 75 cents at a time. So that was more then mom likes to play at ones but she decided to. I was still worried about her and clingy so mom put me on her lap in case I needed to be close to her. She had put about $8.00 in the machine when she got 5 flaming 7s. Dad told mom you just won the jackpot and pointed to the top of the machine. It said the jackpot was $1,010.00. Then a lady cam over and paid mom the money. Mom was so excited and said that now her trip to California would be covered. After that mom did not want to gamble she just wanted to horde her winnings. The rest of the weekend mom did not gamble much. Instead she did a lot of training with me. We used all the distractions to practice with. Mom said in some ways I was perfect and in some things I was still a little out of control puppy. I thought I did really well and think mom stresses too much. Mom is becoming very anxious about meeting the other SD teams next month. I am not worried because even if they think I am not trained that well yet they will all think I am cute.
I will have mom review the new gear tomarrow.

We had another busy day today. Mom was up early and finished my patch thingies. Hopefully she gets a picture up tonight. Then mom and I had a lesson with our private trainer. Dad dropped us of at the outdoor mall. It was raining so we went into Barnes and Noble to work. The trainer brought the CGC test so we could go over it to see what I still needed to work on. The trainer said in so many ways my training is beyond the CGC , however there are two areas I need work. One is calmer around other dogs and not so playful. Our trainer said the group lessons will help that as well as a little age. The other area is sitting quietly when approached and petted. I get so excited and want to play and visit with everyone. We had some people walk up and talk to mom and shake hands and walk off. I did very well with this. In fact we did everything we could from the test at the store and I did great. Mom and she then talked about all the other things and they both agreed I would do fine with those. The trainer said I just needed a little more work and some maturity. She said dogs are like children and they all grow up at different times. She said I am a wonderful, smart little dog just a little immature in some ways. As usual she said I am doing fine and mom just needs to work on communicating with me better. She said we are doing great as a team we just need time.
When we were done mom, dad and I went to Costco. I did very well and heeled much better. Mom said the classes and practice is helping. When we got home I was pooped. We were only home a couple hours when mom said it was time for school. We headed to our group classes at Petsmart. I was bouncing off the walls when we got there. We always arrive early so we can walk around the store for a while. Today we worked on stays and recalls. We played games and it was a lot of fun. At first I was very distracted by all the dogs running around but I did start focusing on mom. By the end of the class I was doing really well. The trainer said that I did very well. She suggested that mom and I come to the store a couple times a week and practice. Mom said that was a great idea and we are going to do that. We are heading to Vegas tomorrow for a couple days so I will not be updating my diary until Monday evening. Everyone take care and we will talk then.

Sorry this is long.
I went with mom to her NP appt today. First we went for a nice walk and played did some bit recalls, and lots of stuff to burn off my energy. Dad dropped us off at the clinic and then he went grocery shopping. I was very excited at the clinic. We went and checked in and then mom looked for a seat. She was glad to see the corner area open. They have an ottoman there and we sit behind it in the corner out of the way. No one ever sits on the ottoman so it works out good. She brought my mat and laid it down for me. It took me a while but I finally settled down. About that time a lady with two kids comes in. she went to the counter and told the kids to go find a seat. You guessed it the flopped down on the ottoman. The boy was 5 years old and the girl was 3. They were both very good it is just that I wanted to play with them. It took a lot of mom working with me to get my attention and settle. About the time I would ignore them the little boy would get closer. He was very good and did not talk to me but rather mom. He asked 100 questions and mom was very patient and answered all of them. It was one of the hardest things I had to do but mom was firm. The kids never touched me and I was not allowed to go towards them. Mom enjoyed the kids as they were very polite and well behaved and asked good questions. I would have loved to have cuddled with them but mom is soooo means. She says maybe someday when I learn to ignore and I am a big girl. Then it was mom’s turn and we got two male nurses. One it the one we saw before and the other was in training. The one who had seen us before explained to the new one that he was not allowed to look or talk to me. He said that he should only talk to mom. Mom was so impressed with both of them. When we got in the exam room mom put me on my mat on a down stay and I did very well. The new nurse took mom’s blood pressure and it was very high. So much for all the new meds to lower it. Then they left and a while later a lady poked her head in and said “ I was told that I had to come see your dog but that I am not allowed to look or talk to her”. Mom was trying not to crack up as the lady spoke to her and watched me out of the corner of her eyes. Of course I knew she was watching me and wagged my tail at her but I did not get up. Mom was very proud of me with all the distractions. Finally mom’s NP came in and never even looked at me. I had been with mom to see her before and she ignored me then also. She did tell mom that I am the cutest dog she has ever seen and I was so special. She and mom talked about how much I help her and the nice lady said that she thinks that it is wonderful mom has me. She also said that she could see how much mom needs me. Then they talked about all moms’ meds and her current condition. The NP was concerned about mom’s trouble walking and wants her to get a handicap parking permit until this back thing gets better. So mom will get the forms for her to fill out. Mom has had them before and never used it but agreed that in some cases it would be nice right now. She also adjusted mom’s blood pressure meds and wants more blood work. She wants to see mom back in two weeks and she said that for mom to bring me as well. We then went home and I was exhausted and ready for a nap. When we got home there was a package on the step. I was so excited I helped mom open it. Well so much for my nap mom made me try on new gear. It felt funny and I would not move in it. Mom said we would work on it later as she had to go to PT. When she got home she told dad that her PT was moving and this made mom very sad. Mom still has her for another month for them to come up with a plan.
Later mom got the gear out again and fitted it to me and took photos for all of you to see. She may keep both and try to make a light pack to put on the red one for days she does not need me to carry much and for when it is hot. She will think on it. They fit me great I am just not used to them. Mom can now lift me better without hurting her or I.

This morning was cold out and I slept in. Mom went to Physical Pool Therapy and mailed Barkley and Reboots mats. She was still in pain this morning and talked to her therapist about it as well as not being able to walk on Saturday. It seems the water traction helped for a couple days then the muscles went back and got tight around the nerves. She thinks that the muscle is fine now and we are dealing with nerve pain. So mom and she are going to work on it for the next couple weeks then mom will see her doctor. Mom really likes her therapist and says she is the best one she has ever had. When mom got home she had waited way to long to eat and was very shaky. I just gave her the look. After she ate and rested a bit we went out and worked on our heeling. I did really well then mom let me visit with the neighbors who were all out. After that I hung out in my pen with my big bone. In the afternoon mom had me bring some things to her and I did great. Mom then worked on my flyers and flyers for her mats. After that she was pooped and is just taking it easy.
Mom got up this morning and said she was better and we were going out. First she took me for a little walk (with her back I am lucky to get that). Then Dad put the walker in the car and off we went. This was our first trip with just mom, me and the walker. Mom was determined to be independent and give it a go. She was a little worried with lifting the walker in and out of the jeep but it was fine. First we went to the fabric store, mom carefully got the walker out without stressing her back. Then she got me out and off we went. The stupid little basket would not fit on the walker so mom grumbled but we moved on. Mom was afraid this would happen so she cleaned out the little basket on the walker in case we needed it. It was not to busy so we were able to get what we needed pretty easily. Mom is so silly sometimes. Instead of putting all the stuff in her little basket under the seat she piled it all on the seat. Well she made a sharp corner and most everything went flying all over the floor. Luckily there was no one around. Mom’s back was not going to be happy if she had to bend over and pick up everything, she looked at me and said “Dora get that and bring it to me” while pointing to her knee. Well I jumped into action and started bringing her the items and standing on her knee. For each one I got a treat so it was fun. There were a total of about 8 little items and on the last two I tried to bring both at the same time. Unfortunately I could not figure out how to get both in my mouth. Fortunately that meant two trips and two treats. Well after we had cleaned up the mess we headed to the cutting counter to get our number. This is always stressful for mom as everyone gathers in a clump and surrounds us. I was very good and laid down under the walker until it was our turn. Mom laid the lead down next to me while we ere at the counter. Then when she said are you ready she pointed to the lead and I picked up and handed it to her and we went to the checkout. I was actually strutting after my cleanup of mom’s mess. We then made it out to the car. Mom sat on the walker so she was lower and I stood up to make it easy for her to pick me up and put in my crate. She then carefully maneuvered the walker back into the jeep. At this point we were both feeling pretty smug and mom decided to swing in Target on the way home. She was trying to find a collapsible crate in small. The other Target closest to us was out. We were able to park right next to the cart return so she used a cart rather then the walker. Once in the store mom could not find the pet section. She is not familiar with this store and her back was really starting to hurt. Finally after going around the whole store we found it and they had a small. She then needed to get a couple grocery items and knew she could not handle another stop. This was a super Target so they had groceries. We headed to groceries and got a few things. On one of the isles mom just stopped. I figured she was getting something but no she just stood there. I am not sure what was wrong but I knew something was. I started pawing at her leg. She sort of had a weird look on her face and was sort of bending over the cart. After a bit we started moving again. I heeled perfectly and watched her. Once out in the car mom sat there for a minute then off we went. Mom called dad and told him she got a little light headed but was fine now. If she felt weird again she would pull over. When we got home she went over to our friends who is an EMT and he checked her blood pressure and heart rate. He thought her BP was a little low and could be from the blood pressure lowering meds. He told mom she should take it easy the rest of the day so she did. She is going to discuss this with her NP on Wednesday. Then she finished our friends Reboot’s bed. So now she can mail her and Barkley’s mats to them. I laid at her feet while she sewed in case she needed anything. Of course she dropped 2 things and I got them for her. All in all it was a good day. Mom and I are very proud of our accomplishment. Oh yea I got to lie out in my pen and chew on my big bone. Life is good.

At 3:30 this morning the light went on. Mom was in so much pain she could no longer stay in bed. It was her lower back with the pains shooting down her leg. She got in her recliner which is the only position that seems to help. She let me out of my crate so I could comfort her. She got all her favorite comfort things, a cup of tea, her heat pack and me. Once the meds kicked in she felt a little better. Finally she fell asleep and dad found us in the morning cuddled up together asleep. Mom could barely walk and he helped get her into a hot shower. She was disappointed as she was going to miss her first free lesson that came with her new sewing machine. Once back on the recliner couch dad made and brought her some breakfast. I was very concerned and tried to help her relax. Later in the morning mom was able to move around a little. She let me get a few things for her and pick stuff up. In the afternoon she got out the tunnel she bought at the thrift store for $5. She set it up near the couch and using treats and the clicker we played games. I would go do stuff and then she would click and then I would come over to the couch for treats. I got to play and burn off energy and mom could just sit on the couch. Then we worked on a few of my tasks that she could do from the couch. It was so much fun to play with mom. After that I took a nice nap by mom while she played on the computer.

Mom went with her friend this morning and left me home. We are still working on my separation so she says it is good for me to stay home after I have went with her for a few days. I stayed home with dad and I did much better today. Mom and her friend went to a couple stores and went to Bark Ave Pet store without me. I was not happy about this but I forgave her because she brought me some goodies. She actually wishes she would have taken me because she said there are some things I could have helped her with.
Mom’s back was really bad today so she just relaxed most of the rest of the day. I got to chew on my new treat all day. Mom found me some of those Himalayan chews that my friend Ollie likes. MMMMMM they are good. Mom also got a good deal on some raw food they had on sale. Later in the day I started to alert mom and she called it pestering. Guess what about 45 minutes later her head started hurting. She is still working on figuring out my alerting vs. pestering. I helped take off her socks and pants, get in her comfy clothes and then I took a nap on her lap. I love taking care of my mom she just has to learn to let me do it.

This morning mom was in a lot of pain. Her lower back and shooting leg pains were terrible. She was not even sure she was gong to make it to Physical Therapy. She managed to get there and the therapist tried a few new things with her in the water. After that she had her first Appt. with a pain counselor at the same facility. Mom said it was just an evaluation so she will see how it is next week. She is holding judgment until then. When mom got home she was worried that we would not make it to dog class. It is only our second week of intermediate and she hated to miss it. Well the PT must have helped because the pain was much better by the time to leave for class. We went early so I could burn off some excitement. The trainer was great with mom and helped give her some ideas that would work better for us. I was still a little squirrelly at the beginning of class but by the end we were doing really well together. My heeling was much better which is something mom has really wanted to improve. The trainer said we were doing great and really improved through the hour. She also fitted me for a gentle leader that mom is going to try on me. Not that I am doing that poorly just trying a different approach. We heeled and worked for an hour straight and both mom and I were very tired. I came home and crashed and slept the whole afternoon. Mom said that even though she was on her feet almost the whole time her back is not too bad. Then mom shopped the internet for different gear for me. She is still not really very happy with my vest or backpack. She has found several she likes but they do not come in my size. The stuff that comes in my size she does not like. She is still toying around with making something for me. We will see what she comes up with.

Mom had an early doctor appt with a doctor that would require all her attention so I stayed home. It was a new Rheumatologist for this area. Her old one is in Oregon. This was her second visit to get his opinion after all the test from a month ago. He was very good and confirmed mom’s prior diagnosis of RA and Fibro. As well as they went over all her other illnesses. Mom really liked him and will continue on her current RA meds for now.
After the doctor she ran in a few thrift stores by his office to look for some stuff. She came home with all kinds of goodies and a cool agility tunnel. It is a small one but was only $5. She knew how much I love d the tunnel at puppy class and thought we could have some fun with and even use it as a training tool. I learn much better when having fun. I think she will take some pictures of me in it when it stops raining. She then came home had lunch and took me with her. We met Ellen to give her Shadow’s finished bed. We then went over to target and put my vest on and went in. Mom was looking for one of those pop up crates for the trip. Of course they were out of my size but she has other places to get them as well. We still have several weeks to get those things. Then we went to Ross to look for some kind of bag for the train part of the tip. She wanted something that will set on her seat of her walker. She brought home a couple choices and one will fit nicely. So she will return the other. Then she took off my vest and we went next door to Petsmart to desensitize me for class tomorrow. I was so wound up on sensory overload last week she thought this may help. We ran into the trainer who teaches the classes and she thought that was a good idea. She also suggested we try the GL so mom bought one. The trainer is going to help us with it tomorrow and we do not like it we can return it.
Then mom worked with me on watching and paying attention to her. I got lots of treats.
When we got home I was exhausted and took a big nap. Mom is worn out as well but she had to make phone calls for our trip. She booked Amtrak but needs to get a letter from our trainer saying mom is qualified to have me as a SDIt on the train. Mom contacted her and she said no problem. She is also going to do a mock CGC on me since I am a year old now. So we have a very busy month ahead of us. We are looking foreword to meeting all our California friends face to face and nose to nose.

This morning dad took mom for her neck injection. They left early and all mom was allowed was a cup of tea. I am glad I got my breakfast though. Mom said it hurt more this time and that she thinks she had less sedation then last. On the way home dad pulled through Starbucks and got her a huge white choc. mocha latte thingy. Mom said it made her feel better even if she did get fat free, decaf and no whip. Once home she just hung out on the couch until all of the sedation wore off. I off course spent half the time comforting her and the half irritating her. Once she was feeling a little better she played with me and worked on our trip plans. Then she made some cup cakes and more relaxing. It has been raining off and on since yesterday. I of course choose to have to go potty when it is pouring. Mom and Dad think I plan it that way but honestly I do not.
I am excited about our trip as we are going to meet many SD friends for the first time. Mom’ dear friend is flying to Phoenix to drive to Ca with us. This makes mom really happy. I am sure if mom likes her I will too. We are also going to see her best friend in Oregon who is also my breeder. So I will be staying in a house with 8 or so other Norwich Terriers. More on the trip later. Hopefully mom will be better tomorrow as she has lots to do. Dad is working so she has to go alone and I think I am going to some of the places with her.

This morning dad, mom and me went to the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale. It was pouring rain when we got there. They had shuttles from the parking lot to the event and this was my first time on one. I did really well except that there was not room on the ground so I had to get on mom’s lap and I was muddy. Mom said id was okay. We got there right when it opened so it was not too crowded. The auction does not start until later in the week but they have lots of booths and cars to look at. We did the inside stuff first because of the rain. . I was good although very distracted by all the people. Mom took her walker but still got tired and started hurting. Mom and I sat for a bit while Dad went and did a car simulator. We then went and looked at the cars that were going to be auctioned off. They were very shiny and boorriingg. We then caught the shuttle back to our car. This bus was bigger so there was room for me to ride on the floor. When we got home mom was not feeling well so she took a nap and then went to physical therapy

Mom had a bad day today. She did not feel good all day. Her lower back, shoulder and neck are causing her lots of pain. This morning she and dad went out to get a few things but they were not gone long. The rest of the day mom worked off and on sewing our friend Barkley’s travel mat. I could tell mom was not well and stayed close. Finally I kept pawing her leg and she would put me up on her lap then back down. I did this a few times and she decided to quit and take some meds. Not a moment to soon as the head pains started. She decided to rest and has been on the couch ever since. She is busy planning a trip for us. She said we are going to visit some friends in the Bay area in California. Mom and I have never been somewhere just the two of us. She is very nervous and excited. I hope these dogs like me. I of course love all dogs and people and know we will have fun, more details on that later on. Well I need to go check on mom she does not look good.

Mom and I picked up our friends Meadow and her mom this morning. First us four legged girls got some run and play time. Then we headed to the Dog brunch. When we arrived the mom’s decided to take a walk around the paved trail around the little lake next door. It was nice out and there was a man making howling noises. Mom said it was a man playing bag pipes. We stopped and the mom’s talked to him. He was really nice and comes there to practice. He said he has been playing them for over 33 years. Meadow did not like the noise and I was not sure but I did wag my tail. We then continued as the moms talked blablablabla. Finally we headed to the dog brunch. It was at a place called “in the raw”. It is a little coffee, juice and dog bar we like to go to. They put a spread of dog goodies out on the patio. The mom’s put money in the donate jar for local dog charities and us pups get to snack on everything. Our friend Muggles the Norfolk Terrier was there with her mom and they sat with us. Also our friends Emily the Irish Wolfhound and Brooke the Bedlington Terrier came with their mom. I love Emily in fact all dogs and people love Emily. She is a wonderful soul. After al the mom’s had talked and us dogs had eaten we all parted ways. When we got home I was tired and took a nap. Then I woke up with a tummy ache and threw up. I guess there is too much of a good thing. The rest of the day I just hung out with mom while she used the puter.

Mom went to the new knee Dr. this morning. She liked him but he basically told her the same as the others. Very bad knees, old lady knees. Going to need new ones but not at 46, she will have to wait. Meanwhile there is nothing left to do. She cannot have the injections anymore as she had a bad reaction last time. No more arthroscopic surgeries, she has had 4 on each knee. So he said basically to avoid the things that make them hurt, which is almost everything. When she got home her and dad did all the laundry at the park Laundromat and then it was time for my first class of intermediate obedience. Mom’s head was hurting so she took some meds since dad said he would drive us. We took the class at Petsmart from a well known local trainer. In fact mom had wanted to use her before but she stopped her own business and only works through Petsmart. At the time mom needed a trainer to come to the house. The trainer has trained SD’s in fact she had a stroke years ago and had one of her own. I am afraid I did not behave well at all. I talked to others with my cute little yodel and bounced around. It looked like I had no training at all. I just thought we were at a dog party and we should all be playing and having a good time. We went around the room and our mom s introduced us and them to the class. On cue when mom was talking about us I got up and did my really cute dance and tail wag. Everyone thought I was adorable however mom did not look that impressed with me at the moment. Mom kept repeating to herself “this is why we are here so Dora can work around other dogs and more distractions”. The trainer explained what we were to do and then we all went out into the isle in the store to work on it. I was waayy to distracted and barely noticed mom. She started to get frustrated and then I got frustrated. Then she got stressed and I got worried. Then all of a sudden she took a big breath and smiled down at me. We went for a little break and came back to the class. After that I did do a little better. This was just a new environment for me to work in. Also since I did not have my vest I figured it was fun time. After the class the trainer thought I did fine and agreed that this class was just what I needed. The trainer also told mom that she approved of how mom has done things with me up until now. She thinks that we are farther along then mom thinks we are. She had some great suggestions for mom.
After class mom told dad that she really like the instructor and thought she is just what the two of us needs right now. Mom learned a few new tricks to try on me to have me heel better. She is also going to start taking me a couple times a week to Petsmart to work just a little. So I get used to training in the environment. I was mentally pooped when we got home and slept the rest of the afternoon. Mom had physical therapy so she went to that. She got home and was exhausted and just shut down. I am lying with her on the couch right now.

This morning mom and dad had to take the jeep into the shop so I stayed home for the vehicle shuffle. After that mom went and had her hand x-rays for her Rheumatologist appointment next week. Apparently they went shoe shopping after that. I did not get to go, I could have been very helpful. They were gone for several hours and even had lunch out. When they got home mom said we were going outside since it was beautiful out. I thought oh goody I get to go in my pen with the big bone. Then I saw it, mom and dad were setting up the grooming table. I think it is unfair to be left home and groomed in the same day. Well mom worked on me for several hours and she said it still look like a giant moth attacked me. Hand stripping is tricky and hard to pull hair evenly. I did pretty good and was glad when she was tired and called it quits. Okay now I thought I will get my bone. Oh noooo, it was now time for a bath. After bath was then too close to dinner time to chew on my bone. I was not very happy with mom at this point. Then she redeemed herself by putting some of her left over lunch in my dinner. She had brought home some salmon and backed sweet potato from lunch and she shared with me. My dinner was mmmmmmm yummy.

Well last night mom and dad slept a little better but did get up several times with their coughing. I just look at them through the crate, roll my eyes and give them the “I am trying to sleep here look”. Mom headed to physical therapy and I stayed home with dad. I am doing better about mom leaving and did not pester dad as much. When mom got home she went on and on how great her PT was today. The therapist worked on her neck while she was floating on her back in the pool. She said it was amazing how much she was able to do on her and how relaxed mom was. She was wiped out though and took a big rest on the couch. Her head pain started up yesterday again so it wipes her out. I decided to tell her about her head and alerted to it. She said thank you but she was already aware of it (did not sound grateful to me at all). Then she started coughing and it sounded like she was choking. I got very concerned and stood on her chest and looked at her. Once she finally quit she told me thank you but once again not that helpful. Mom said at least I meant well and thanked me. She worked on our friend Shadow’s travel mat and finished it. All she has to do is finish the shoulder strap. We are hoping he likes it and will make him comfy on his plane ride to Virginia. Then mom said since it was warm, sunny, and beautiful outside we should go out. I hung out in my pen with my big bone and mom laid in her reclining patio chair. I like to lay in the sun it feel soooo good. Our neighbor came by and told me how nice my bone was and gave me a good pet. He is one of my favorite people and I can recognize his voice from far away. In the evening mom and I worked on my retrieving. She picked out several items and put them on the floor. Then she pointed to each one with the laser pointer. I brought all of the items even the metal one up to her in the recliner. She said that was my best yet and was very proud of me. Those games always wear my brain out so I had take a big nap.

Another busy day it was for me. We all got up early and were out of the house by 7:30. Dad had a Dr. Appt to have his blood pressure checked (I already told him it was high). Mom decided this would be another good training opportunity. It is the same clinic her Dr is in and it was very slow that early in the morning. We all went in and waited until we were called to the exam room. Mom put my mat in the corner for me to lie on. When the NP came in she said I was adorable but knew she could not talk to me (darn). Well apparently Dad’s blood pressure is very high and he is going to have to take something for it. The NP also noticed that both mom and dad had terrible colds. She gave them both all kinds of goodies to help clear things up and get a good night sleep. Once we left there we went next door to the Starbucks in Safeway. Mom had gotten several gift certificates so they each got a coffee (I got nothing). We then went back by home and picked up our ice chest and packs. I heard mom say that I got to go again, she was going to have dad drop off us at Joann’s fabric to look for fabric for our friend Barkley’s travel mat. Dad said he would then go to Costco and pick us up when he was finished. Well the fabric store was quite busy and everyone wanted to talk to me or mom about me. We finally managed to get a few things and get in the cutting line. Mom put me on a down and everyone just oohhheedd and awweedd over me. I did solicit a little but it was hard not to. Mom said I did very well for all that was going on. Then we went out front and dad picked us up. Dad explained to mom all that he bought and it was agreed he should not go to Costco alone again. We then headed over the Health food grocery store. Mom was starting to get very shaky so they decided to have a bite to eat. The each had a sandwich at one of the little lunch tables. I laid right under mom’s chair and was perfect. Afterward they headed to the meat counter area. It was busy so dad parked our cart out of the way and mom put me there on a down stay. Dad watched me out of the corner of his eye and mom got some nice organic meats. Everything was going well and I was watching mom when this loud noise happened right behind me on the other side of a wine display. Everyone turned to see and I jumped up and was very very worried. Apparently an entire display of wine just fell over. No one was around and thank goodness no one was hurt. I was so shook up it took about 10 minutes for me to settle back down. The wine was some kind of chocolate stuff and mom said the whole store smelled yummy. Well dad got his wheat grass and we checked out. When we got home everyone was exhausted. Mom and dad were up most last night coughing.

What a busy wonderful day. Mom and I went over to my friend Meadow’s house in the morning. They had Birthday gifts for me to open. I got a nice micro-fiber towel and 4 new toys. Mom says that brings my number of toys to over 25. Mom and dad think I have too many toys but they are all my favorites and I could not part with any of them. I still have my ones I got when I was a baby. Then Meadow and I played and ran for a while. Mom said it was time to go and Meadow’s mom was coming with us but not Meadow. I was very sad and Meadow was not very happy either. We were going to the mall to work and since Meadow is not a SD she could not come. Once we got to the mall mom had her new glasses adjusted. The lady was not very friendly and glared at me. Then we went out and walked around the mall. We went in a Hallmark store where there were very nice people. The workers and the customers had lots of questions. Our friend shopped, I was on a down stay and mom chatted with everyone. She handed out some of my cards. Then we went down the elevator to the next floor. As we were walking I saw a black dog with a lady. Right away I knew I liked him and started wagging my butt at him. Mom made me just walk by him and did not stop. When we went back towards him and the black dog’s owner made him lay down. My mom made me lay down also. The other dog and I made little sounds to each other. He was soooo cute. His name is Shadow and his mom is Ellen. They came to meet us at the mall so I could work around another team. At first I was very distracted, but after walking around I got better. We all went into some stores together and I kept trying to sneak Shadow a kiss. He is older and more mature then me so he behaved. Once in a while though we would flirt with each other. Shadow’s mom has not got to work him in a while so it was good for both of us. Ellen then thought it would be good for us to do a greet on the peoples terms. Shadow rolled over and I gave him a kiss on his face. We then had our friend take pictures of all of us and some of just Shadow and I. Ellen saw my mat and ordered one for Shadow so that his airplane ride in a couple weeks would be comfy. After a while Shadow and his mom had to leave. Our friend and mom and I then went to Ruby Tuesdays for lunch. I was very tired and sprawled out on my mat and slept. There was a table next to us with 3 very nice children. They had lots of good questions. Mom gave them one of my cards as well as the SD info card she had made. The parents were very nice and mom and her friend had a nice visit with them. When mom and her friend were done eating I got to go for a little walk outside the mall and then to the car and headed for home. When we got home Mom and I were wore out. I still wanted to play with all my new toys though so I skipped a nap. Finally I could not stay awake and fell asleep.

I cannot believe I was picked as Diary of the day again.. I am not that good of a writer I am sure there are others who do better. But I do like winning things and it is nice to have a SDIT (service dog in training) recognized. Mom went to Physical Therapy early this morning and then did not feel that good the rest of the day. So we did not do much. Tomorrow mom and her friend were going to go to the mall to get her glasses adjusted. Then Shadow SD’s mom Ellen notified mom that she would like to meet with us tomorrow. So we are going to meet them there. Mom says there are not many teams in this area so it will be a good opportunity for us. We have never met up with another SD team. Mom is a little nervous and anxious. She showed me Shadow’s profile and a video of him playing with little dogs. He looks like a cool dog and cannot wait to meet him. Mom said actually I do not get to play with him this is a working exercise. She is glad her friend is going and she thinks she will enjoy it as well. Hopefully we will have some pictures to show as well as a report and how it went.
Well mom decided I could use some mental play so she got out 6 items and spread them out on the floor. There was a cell phone case, a pen, small cloth, pill bottle, her keys on leather fob, and a metal ring dad uses for his pant legs on his bike. The rest I have retrieved before but the metal is a challenge as I have yet to pick up metal in my mouth. Mom keeps trying it though just in case I do it one day. Well tonight was the night. She got out the laser pointer, clicker and treats. Every time she pointed the laser she would say bring it, I would then get the item and bring it up to her reach on her knee. She would then click and treat. The phone case I know as PHONE and do not need it pointed to. She saved the metal for last and then pointed the laser. I ran right over sniffed it and picked it up. She was so happy I got a whole treat instead of a part. That was sooo fun. Then we did shake paw, high five and roll over. Oh yea also boring stuff like sit and down.
I am now going to lounge as sometimes mental play wears me out as much as physical. Never mind before mom got this typed I started emptying my toy basket. Oh well I can nap later.

Then mom went and signed me up for an intermidiate obeidence class starting next week. It will be in the afternoon so that will be nice for mom. My friend down the street Billy the lab mix will be there. mom figures I need some brushing up and working around other dogs.
Mom took me for a nice walk around the park and then grabbed my vest and work collar and lead. I had a feeling she was going somewhere and hoped I was going with her. First we went to Safeway to grocery shop. This is only the second time her and I have done this without dad. I did pretty well but did have some trouble with grabbing stuff off the floor. Sometimes my heel was perfect and other times it was not very good at all. With mom’s health lately we have not done much training. Mom said I did pretty good overall. After we got the groceries in the car we went for a little walk around the parking lot so I could potty. Then we headed to a door near Safeway. I got very excited and mom had a hard time making me wait and go in slowly. This was my first Dr. Appt with mom. Her NP had said that she would like to meet me and that she should bring me on her next visit. Mom checked in and put my mat down so I knew were I was to be. They were several people there before us and the waiting room is not that big. We had to wait an hour before mom was called. During that time the waiting room got full and there were several small children running around. I did pretty well. I did get up from my down and got corrected but I never left the pad. It was really hard as the kids looked fun and other people talked to me.
Finally we were called and taken to the exam room. Mom put down my mat in the corner and gave me a chewy to keep me busy. When the NP came in she said hi to mom and did not look at me. She said I was sooo cute but new she should not talk to me. Mom explained maybe later when I was farther along in my training. Mom and the nice lady talked for a half hour. I stayed in my down the whole time. On the way home mom and I stopped and got lunch and took home to dad. Mom then left to go to her new Physical Therapy for her lower back. She said I could not go as she would be in the pool and it would be to hard to work with me and benefit from her session. I stayed home with dad and got into trouble. I do not like staying home now and gave dad a hard time. Mom says we are going to have to work on this. She is also thinking of enrolling us in a group class she just found about near our home

This morning mom and dad were out of the house by 6:15 as mom had to go get another neck treatment. When they got home at 9:00 mom was a little loopy but not to bad. She managed to get me breakfast and dad watched to see she did it right. Then she headed to the recliner to rest. We did not do to much the rest of the morning. In the early afternoon mom decided she would like to sit out in the sun. So you guessed it I got my big bone in the pen. It was so nice to lay out in the nice fresh air and sun. Then mom and I went inside.
Mom did some task games with me and it was really fun. The remainder of the day mom was on the computer and drawing her new vest/backpack idea. Mom is out of control. I have a vest and a backpack and she is not in love with either of them. They do not make what she wants in my size so she is going to try and make something. I glanced over at her drawings several times. My opinion is it looks great but I see one of 2 possibilities. Either she says lots of bad words and in 3 days it is in the trash or it will turn out nice or it will be finished in a year or two.
Well it is almost bed time. Mom looks like she is in a little pain and very wore out. I think she should go to bed.

This morning mom was feeling a little better. She lounged most of the morning and watched a movie. So I just hung out with her. Dad was outside doing projects and visiting with neighbors. After lunch we all went outside. Mom and dad lounged in their chairs and I got to chew on my big bone in my pen. Then some people came by who just got here who knew mom and dad from last year. They were very nice to me and they had a nice visit. After they left mom said it was time to go inside. Mom put my big bone in it’s Ziploc for another day. Dad went over to visit a friend and mom decided to work on my friend Jolanda’s travel bed. Well I decided that I should help. I played with the ties as they hung down. Mom said that was not allowed so I decided to go stand on the foot control and make the machine go vrroommm. Mom was not impressed with that either. Finally she had enough and said maybe we could find something in my toy basket to keep me busy. As she dug through she was counting the toys. She then turned to me and said I should be ashamed of myself because I had over twenty toys and was complaining that I had nothing to play with. She also said something about some dogs have no toys bla bla bla bla. I was just hoping she would go into the secret cupboard and get me a new one. Well apparently she had another idea. She got my saucer out of the basket and filled it with kibble. She then gave it to me and said “that should keep you out of my hair for a while”. She then started sewing while I played. But then my saucer got stuck behind something and she had to get it out. When I was done with that I took a long nap. Mom was glad as she almost finished the mat. She laid it on the floor to take a photo. I figured that I would look good in the photo so I hopped onto the mat. She took some pictures and sent them to Jolanda’s mom to see. Then it was dinner time and now time for another nap. Mom and I will both be glad when she is up to taking walks again. She starts Physical therapy tomorrow so she is hoping that will help.

I amso flatterd that I was picked for diary of the day again. Mom says to not let it go to my head. This morning mom and dad went to Costco without me. At least mom took me for a nice walk before they left. Mom says that she wants to make sure we have the seperation thing handled. I did very good and was sleeping when they got home. Shortly after that dad went and got our big mail package. We only get mail evry 2 weeks so there was a lot of christmas stuff in it. Dad pulled out this very large bone and I hoped it was for me. It was from our friend Sonja and her cattle dogs Jolanda and Josephine. I was very excited to try it out but mom said that she thought it would be a good outside project. It was nice and sunny so mom put me in my outside pen with the bone while she pulled up a chair and relaxed. At first I was not sure how to start on it, but I finally just attacked it. It was great and very yummy. Thank you so much to my friends for getting it for me. Mom posted a picture of me and it as well as a photo from our Laughlin trip. Mom spent most of the day doing paperwork. She said that she could not stand looking at her desk another minute. I hope tomarrow is nice and I can go out and work on my bone. Mom brought it in so no critter would steal it. She said that it is a lifetime bone for me.

We just got home from our 4 day trip and I would like to share our experiences. Sunday morning mom and dad loaded up the car and we headed down the road. I did very good this time and never said a word the whole 4 hours. When we got Laughlin we went to The Golden Nugget. It was so nice because I had been here before and I recognized all the smells. I was a little wound up at first so after we checked in we went right to our room and I ran around and burned up some energy. Mom said that I did really well this trip. Especially since between her back injury and my spay. I have not worked in public much in the last month. I did well at all the restaurants and stayed on my mat most of the time. A couple times I did crawl a little and mom put me back in my spot. I try to invent ways to move without mom noticing. Some times I get no where and other times I get a few inches. We did not work on the escalators as much as mom had planned as she used her walker. One day she did not use it and we did go up and down a few times. Mom scooped me up and carried me like before. I was not that worried and mom said I did much better then before. Most of the time I was working and wore my backpack. A few times mom would take off my backpack and let me visit. Only a few people who mom liked and got to know. Especially on my birthday I got to have some really fun visits. Mom did pretty well until the last day when she decided she felt good enough not to use the walker. She paid for it and was in a lot of pain and tired that evening. One night it was really crowded and mom was playing the slot machines and she let me sit on her walker seat. She put her coat on there and I just stayed up there perfectly. Mom said it was nice to have me right next to her so she could pet me and make her feel calm. Plus she knew it would be easier for me to alert her. I noticed she was getting very tired and fuzzy brained. I bugged her until we went up to the room. She said she was so glad I did that as she did not realize she was that bad. She also started to get one of her head pains. Mom still has trouble bending over so I picked up lots of stuff for her as well.
We all had a good time and I was very helpful to mom.
Mom forgot 2 things I wanted to mention.
1)mom and I were headed into an elevator and a casino security employee aproached us and asked what I carried in my backpack. Mom said as we entered the elevator "she carries my medicine". Once in the elevator mom said she should have said a bomb. We both laughed but knew the Security lady would not have thought so.
2)I learned a new task-Ignore the idiot. We were walking through the casino and this man jumped out and barked and growled at us. It startled me and made mom angry. She just turned to me and quetly said heel, ignore the idiot. Then about 1 hour later here he comes again. He made a point of waiting for us to pass and then barked and growled at us again. This time mom said Heel, ignore the idiot, a little louder so he could here. She said if he did it again she was going to get security. We know one of the Security supervisors there. but he never came near us again.

This morning was very cold for Arizona as there was frost on the winshields. I actually slept in until 8:00 so mom and dad got to sleep in also. This makes them very happy especially since it was cold out for my morning walk. Mom decided her back was not too bad so she would run to the grocery store. Dad could not go as he was on Host duty for the park. I thought I was going but mom said my vest may rub my incision so she said no. So you guessed it I was stuck staying home with dad again. On the wat to the store mom drove by the post office to see how it looked. There were only 5 cars in the parking lot so she decided to go in and mail Ollivander's mat to him. She then went grocery shopping. Part way through her back started hurting. Shortly after that she had shooting pains down her legs and she could barely walk. She found an employee to help her with a few items and then she cheked out. The bagger then helped her to the car and put the groceries in for her. When she got home dad brought in the groceries and put them away. I could see mom was in pain so I got on the couch with her. She then took it easy. I was bored and being pesty so mom let me open another present. It was a neat toy that you stick a treat in. It kept me busy for several hours. Later on mom said we could try a little training walk. Her back was good for the walk and we had fun. We worked a little then played a little . I got to visit with some of my human friends here in the park. Mom told them I had been spayed and that brought out etra aahhhssss. It started to get cold and made mom's back hurt so we called it good. I am now content with my new toy and my nice walk.

Well mom was so tired last night she did not get my diary entry done. Good help is hard to find. She was yacking on the phone to her best friend/my breeder about embrodery designs. You can find designs online and download them so mom is shopping. well with my tummy still healing and mom's back still messed up it has been pretty boring. Mom has been trying to keep me busy. She let me open up a couple of my presents to play with and we have been working on task training. Mostly we have been working on the same old stuff. But the other night she came up with something new. After seing a video by Barkley and his mom she decided to give it a try. Mom has a hard time taking off her socks and pants sometimes and especially now with her back injury. She has been wanting to teach me this but not sure where to start. So after seeing barkley's video she was inspired. She started slowly with just a sock and using the clicker and treats. Then she moved it onto her foot. Mom had allready been teaching me pull so it went pretty easy. I even brought her the sock without her asking. Well this went so well we moved onto her pants. That was fun and I did it really fast. For a 10lb little terrier I can do a lot. The only thing I need to work on is biting moms' foot when the sock is all the way on. If she gets it started I can do it real well. Mom says it is just because it is new and I am still a puppy. So now I have a new job every night and I like it. Mom says that later in the week I get to go see my friend Meadow and we are going to open presents together. I just have to be careful and we can not play too rough. I cannot wait until I am all healed and can go back to going out with mom, we both miss it.

Well I am starting to feel like my old self again. I keep wanting to have my wack attacks but mom and dad will not let me. They say I am not supposed to be running. Mom has not been feeling that great so the two of us have been doing a lot of nothing. Last night I was so bored and pesky mom let me open one of my presents. It was a rubber squid with polar fleece tentacles. Mom stuffed it with kibble and I had fun shaking it until I got all the kibble out. Now of course I want to open all my presents.
Mom went and got her new glasses today. She is very happy except they still need a little adjusting. Mom and Dad did a little holiday baking today to give to friends. Mom also finished a travel mat for one of our SD friends. Mom loves the new sewing machine and may even tackle making some vests. She tried out the embroidery part today and found it was fairly easy. She of course did my name on a scrap piece of fabric. The software is a windows format and very easy to use. The machine comes with 5 free classes so those should help. They are mostly for the embroidery part like tricks to use the software and machine. We are all tired and just lounging for the evening. Mom thinks that when I was under anethesia for my spay they must have brain washed me. It removed any memory of my training. It took away all my manners and listening to her so maybe my hearing was damaged also. Mom says I have a few more days and then my brain needs to start working again. I think my pathetic look is wearing out. It was fun to milk it for all I could.

Well yesterday morning we left early in the morning for me to get my big present. We went to an Animal Clinic I had not been to. Everyone in the office was ooooing over me and i loved it. Then they called my name and we went into a room and a nice lady took my temperature. when she was done a very nice man came in. He is a veterinarian and he has 2 Norwich at home and 2 french bull dogs. Him and I hit it off just great. He scooped me up and loved on me. Him and mom talked about all kinds of stuff I did not understand. Mom wanted to know what medications and drugs they would be using. After mom had all her questions answered the nice man took me out of the room. I kept thinking and wondering what my present would be and when was I going to get it. Well I hung out there and got lots of hugs. The next thing I know I felt very woozy and some lady was handing me to my mom. I was very out of it and do not remember much. When we got home I just slept or stared into space. Mom gave me a little chicken soup before bed and a little pain medicine. Mom got up in the night in alot of pain. She made me a little more soup and gave me more pain meds. Her and i sat cuddled up on the couch with throw until mom's medicine kicked in. This morning I felt a little better but have slept most of the day. I have decided i do not really care for my present from mom and hope that the santa guy does better. Mom started to feel a little better this afternoon. Tomarrow she is going to get new glasses. Iwish I got to go as I love the mall and can help mom there a lot. She said that I probably will not work until after christmas when we go on our vacation. I sure hope mom and I feel better soon.

This morning mom and dad started getting ready to go somewhere so I was like velcro. Mom said that I was going today since I was going to be off work for a bit. I am not sure why but I am not happy about that. Anyways we headed to Costco but stopped by our trainers house on the way. She had modified my leash and we were picking it up. She gave me lots of hugs and a great chewy thing. Mom let me have it in my crate. I was very happy and did not even notice when we got to Costco. I was pretty good at Costco except for floor surfing for goodies.
There is a small pile of these things with paper and ribbons. Mom told me once to leave them alone and i have. I did kind of look at the tags and none are for me. Mom says maybe Santa will bring me something. I do not know who santa is but I wish he would hurry up and get here.
I turn 1 year on the 28th and mom said for my birthday and Christmas present I am getting a spay. Apparently it cost a lot of money and I get it tomarrow. We are leaving ealry in the morning. I hope it taste good. I will let you know tomarrow how it was.

This morning mom finished up sewing my friend meadow's feather dog bed. Good thing as it is for christmas. Afterwards her and dad started getting ready to go somewhere. They were taking the new sewing machine with them and I hope i was going too. Well i got to go, but did not get a good walk in first. We pulled up in front of a store and I looked to see where we were. Oh no it was that Joann's fabrics again. I like the stuff on the floor but they take waayyyy to long in this store. Well dad got a cart and put the sewing machine we had just bought here on friday in it. I was bouncing around like a wild rabbit. I would not pay any attention to mom and was having fun. Mom told dad to go ahead and get started and she would work on settling me down. So she worked on some heeling and downs and then we went in. I was much better until we caught up to dad and he was talking to this lady. I figured we must know her and I whinned hello. Well I was very silly for 10 minutes or so and finally mom said she was going to put me on a down stay in a little corner out of the way. I am always better on down stays. Mom figured I was out of the way and she could see me as I was only 4 feet away. The lady started showing mom and dad this sewing/embrodery machine. Meanwhile this lady walks right up and stands 2 inches from my nose. She did not even see me and was trying to stand out of the way until it was her turn. Well mom looked over at the same time and could not believe I did not break. She told the lady to please be careful and do not trip over me. Well the lady looked down and must have jumped 3 feet and started apologizing to mom. Mom said that was okay and that I just showed how good I could be. Well mom and dad decided on the machine and off we went. After that we went to a restraunt called Chili's I was almost perfect the whole time except there was this spot on the floor that drove me crazy. When it was time to go i got a quick look at it and was bummed it was not food. We went home after that. Mom says we are resting up for Costco tomarrow.

Mom’s back was bothering her a little so she got up early and got the heating pad on it. She was letting dad sleep in so I had to stay in my crate. Apparently I make a lot of noise and will wake him. That is okay it was a little early for me so I just lay were I could keep an eye on her. Then after she messed around on the computer she looked around the RV and decided it was a mess. Dad was stirring so I got to get up. Mom started tidying up and the dusting and then dad joined in with the vacuum. The place had got according to mom a pig sty whatever that is. After the house was clean and we had all eaten mom started getting this cool stuff called batting out. She also had fabric and all kinds of neat toys. Well what a shock I had when I found out none was for me; in fact I was not allowed to touch any of it. Before mom could get me lying on a down stay out of the way I tore off a little corner of the batting stuff (hehehe). Well for the next hour mom and dad worked on measuring, cutting and pinning fabric and batting. Mom had everything ready to make my friend Meadow’s feather bed for Christmas, all she had to do next was sew it. They also cut out everything for my new travel mat. Mom is going to make me a custom one just the right size and weight. She is also adding ties so it can be rolled up and tied. Then she is adding a removable shoulder strap. It is a new design so she still has to make the final decisions. So once this was all done I was released but all the fun stuff was already put away. So I figured great now maybe we can play. Nope I was wrong mom began sewing. What a boring morning, first they cleaned then they worked on fabric none of which revolved around me. Mom took a break from sewing and yep you guessed hopped on the computer. Well I had been patient enough, I went into major pester mode. Well it worked she got down on the ground and played with me for about ½ hour. I was happy and content after that. Then mom had a bunch of paperwork to do. Finally I think she is done for the day. We all had dinner and mom and I are hanging out on the couch. Wait, oh no she just told dad she thinks she may do a little more sewing tonight, uuhhhggggg. Oh well everything cannot be about me I guess, not sure why though.

This morning mom got up early and started to get ready to go somewhere. I was not sure if I was going but I got very clingy to mom. Mom then got out my working lead and collar, yea I was going. I could barely eat breakfast I was so excited I kept checking to make sure mom was not leaving without me. Finally mom figured I was never going to finish my meal unless she held still. Then we loaded up and the car and headed down the road. I did not know were we were going until all of a sudden I realized we were going to my friend Meadow's house. I got to go in and play with her so we could burn off energy . Then her and her mom joind us and we were on our way. Meadow does not usually ride in her crate so she was winey, i was right next to her and tried to calm her down. We got to our first stop and it was "In the Raw Coffee, Juice and dog bar". They were having a dog brunch and had a spread of goodies and for a donation your dog can have whatever goodies they want. The proceeds went to the local animal sanctuary. Mom got us a nice table on the patio and Meadow and I got goodies while our mom's had a drink. After alittle bit we headed over the the pet holiday fair. It was not very big but we walked around and had a good time. Mom did not vest me and said I was off duty and could have fun. She did tell me that I could not pull though. I got to meet all kinds of people and dogs. At one rescue booth there was a very nice blue Austrailian Cattle Dog. She needed a new home and was 15 months old. Mom and I both liked her and spent some time talking to her. After we left the fair we went to Petsmart. when mom lifted me out of my crate she put me down with no vest. Mom figured since i was not vested I would be my same goofy self as the last two places. I layed down and waited for her to tell me what to do. Then I heeled perfectly up to the store, paused at the door. Once we got in side a man came over to talk to mom so i just layed at her feet and waited. Then mom started to walk so I heeled then it dawned on mom that I thought I was working. She could not believe I was in work mode without my vest. I just figured we were in a store so I was working and on my best behavior. Mom just laughed and told me what a great dog I was. She then said ALL DONE so I would know to relax and then I jumped in the air and bounced around. I visited with some people and dogs but I was very good. Mom is so pleased that I have learned that in stores to be in work mode. When we got home mom put me in my crate and they went over to the neighbors for dinner. I did not mind as I needed a nap.
Mom and I both had a great day with our friends.

This morning mom put my going somewhere fun collar on. I got excited especially since I had not been anywhere since mom hurt her back 2 weeks ago. We ended up at the dog park, and my best friend Meadow was there. While her and I played our humans had a nice visit. After a while of having a good time my mom said it was time to leave. I noticed we did not head home but the other directions. We pulled up somewhere and mom put my vest on and my working collar and lead. I was so excited to be out and working. Well mom, dad and i headed in to the store and that is when it hit me it was a fabric store. They have so much junk on the floor it is great for a hoover dog like me. Mom is not as impressed with the messy floors. Apparently mom has been having issues with the new sewing machine and is going to take it back. So they were her to look for another. This joann's fabric did not have a full sewing machine center but we found out were one was. We then went over to Dave's BBQ, i had never been here but as any place that serves food it smelled great. Well they gave mom and dad a booth. This made mom nervous as i have never been at a booth. Mom was n0t sure she could keep a good on me but they took it. Mom placed me on my mat under the table were she could sort of see me. I was pretty good considering it had been so long since I had been out working. I did take advantage a little of mom's obstructed view. We left there and went to Bass Pro shop. Another first for me and I loved it. They have a no dog policy but of course no one said a word as we came in. Dad headed one direction and mom and me another. Mom and Dad do not hunt or really fish but they like the clothes the store carries. Mom got 3 tops on sale and dad got nothing. I was very good as many people talked to me and wanted to pet me. Mom explained I was training and everyone was very good. We left there and went to another Joann's fabric, oh boy. We went to the sewing machine area to talk to the expert. There was a lady before us so we had to wait. They had chairs so mom sat down while we waited. By this time poor mom was wore out, mentally and physically. The lady was very nice and showed them several ones. Of course mom loved the one that does embroidery but that is waaayyy out of her budget. I was getting fidgety and saw mom shutting down. To many choices and to many numbers. Finally the decided on one and we left. The lady said that if mom decided to upgrade to the fancy machine in 3 months she could return the one she bought and they would put it towards the new one.
Towards the end mom put me up on her lap I am not sure if that was for me or her but she seemed much more relaxed. She even let the lady pet and snuggle with me since i had so good all day. Well finally we got home and I am in a coma. Mom is so proud of me and has a new machine so all is well.

This morning mom and I went for a nice big walk. Mom thought I would be terrible but I was very very good. We worked on my heel, downs, down stays, carry my toy for awhile and then jump on mom's knee so she could reach it. Mom is so glad she taught me to jump up on her knee with the items. She did it because bending over makes her dizzy, but since she hurt her back she can not bend all the way over. We also did a lot of playing and connecting it was so nice to have my old mom back. Then mom went out for a few errands. She had planned to take me but decided that she could not bend all the way over and get me in my crate. She went to the fabric store and a few other stops. She is making goodies for some of my dog friends. She does all the work and I get the credit . It is a nice arrangment. I stayed home and hung out with dad so that was okay. I love to be with my humans. Mom and dad finished a new hands free lead for me. Becaue mom is so tall and I am so short she has had trouble finding one. Our trainer made us a very nice leather one but has it so she could make some adjusments. So meanwhile mom thought her and dad could try and make one out of nyon as a backup. So they finished it today and mom put a picture of it on my page. It is not fancy but it has loops at all the right spots mom wanted for adjusments. Anyways mom says we are going for another walk this evening after dark to see all the holiday decorations in the park.

Well mom got up this morning and decided to skip the meds as she had to go out and would not drive on pain medication. First mom took me for a walk. This is the first walk without the walker since mom hurt her back. There was a big storm last night so everyone was out checking damage. So I got to visit with everyone. Then mom headed out to do her errands. Dad was on host detail so he could not go. Mom was gone about 1 1/2 hours and when she got home she was hurting and wore out. I came and sat with her while she put her heat pad on her back. I can tell when mom hurts and I do not like it. She took her pain meds and in a short time she was feeling better. She has been wanting to design a hands free leash besides her leather one. She had all the stuff but was not up to it. So Dad helped her and they finished it and it turned out really nice. She will post a picture soon. Then she spent most of the afternoon on the computer. Finally I had enough and reminded her we had not worked on our task training. So she got her clicker and treats and we worked on retrieving and finding things. Then she just layed on the floor and played with me and my toys. I had such a great day with things starting to get back to normal. Mom says she has a big suprise for me on saturday.

Well mom went to the pain Doctor and he said the MRI looked okay and that mom was progressing fine. He suggested Physical Therpy for the back strain and another neck injection for the headaches. Mom is feeling much better today she sewed up 4 covers for my crate mats. She gets tired of washing the whole mat so she made me some nice flannel covers(like pillow cases). Tomarrow her and dad are going to try and make me a different experimental lead. She hopes to get to go out for fabric this week. She is going to make me a new travel mat for restraunts and stuff. Mom played with me on finding the hidden toys. I still cannot find them unless a piece of them sticking out. It rained all day so I tried to make sure that I asked to go out when it was pouring just to irritate mom and dad. I never asked to go out when it was not raining. So that was my entertainment for the day. Mom also got all her Holiday cards done and ready to mail out. She is wiped out and typing this for me and then she said she is doing nothing.......

This morning mom thought she felt a little better. Dad went to costco and I stayed home with mom . I figured it would be another boring day. Then in the early afternoon mom put her shoes on. I was so excited I could hardly hold still so mom could put my collar on. Dad got the walker out so that all of us could go for a little walk. I did very well heeling with the walker. The only thing is mom went waaayyyyy to slow. Dad went with us in case mom had a problem. We made it around one little block in the rv park. Mom was exhausted and hurting a little so she was glad when we got back to the rv. She said it felt good to walk and get out in the fresh air. After that mom was back on the couch with her heating pad. She wanted to put the flannel sheets on the bed and the warmer comforter but knew she was not up to it. So dad did it for her, with mom telling him what to do and me right in the middle of things. It is supposed to start cooling off her in the next couple of days. Mom also put a nice fleece fluffy in my crate so we will all be toasty . Well I think I will go chew on my chewy for a while before bed time.

Mom went to see her NP today for a follow visit. Her new blood pressure medicine seems to be working. The NP was a little concerned about mom's new injury. She suggested mom go see the pain dr. and take a copy of the MRI she had done at the ER. So she has an appt next monday to see what he thinks of the results. The NP also would like mom to bring me to the next visit. I hope she does as I would probably like it. The rest of the afternoon mom and I hung out on the couch. She still has to take all the medication but thinks things are a little better. Then mom took me for a little walk. We only made it two spots down but she said it was nice to get out in the fresh air. Tommarrow we may take the walker and go for a little stroll. It has been a little boring with mom down but we have been working on my house tasks. I am getting even better at bringing the right objects to mom.

Yesterday mom got up in the morning and was still in a lot of pain. Her and dad decided that she should go get checked out. She took lots of pain meds so that she could stand riding in the car to the hospital. They gave her more pain meds at the hospital and did an MRI on her back. They gave her some happy stuff so she could handle the MRI. It showed she has a bulge in one of her disc in the lumbar region but believe she damaged a muscle or ligament. I was so glad to see mom when they got home. She was in no pain after all the meds they had given her. She spent most of the afternoon sleeping. I brought mom her socks and sweatshirt. Dad took me for a walk to break up my boredom. this morning mom is still down and in pain. Dad had to go do errands so i am keeping mom company. Mom is hoping tommarrow her with the walker and i can take a small walk. Dad says that mom is thinking a little too positive. I just wish mom would hurry up and feel better so we can get things back to normal. i miss my training even though mom has been having me bring stuff to her.

This morning we slept in late as mom had a bad night with her head pains. She took two pain pills and was still hurting. When she got up she started sorting the laundry to take to the park laundromat. Usually dad goes and helps but her was working on something so mom told him to stay and she would do it. Well dad put the baskets in the car for her. When she got to the laundromat she took out the first basket and went in. When she went for the second basket it was way in the back of the jeep so she reached and lifted. She felt a little twinge. By the time she got all the clothes in she could barely walk. She had no phone and no one was around. So some how she got into the jeep and back to our rv. She then just honked for dad to come out. When he did mom signaled over. It took a while but he got her out and in the rv. Right away I knew something was wrong. Of course I tried to help. Dad was trying to get her to the couch and I was right there underfoot. once he got her on the couch I immediatly jumped up on t0 the couch and walked all over her. This made her moan but she knew I was trying to help. She took two muscle relaxers and put ice on her lower back. it has been a rough long day for her, but dad and I have been helping her. Mom wishes I was a little farther along in my training as I could be a bigger help. She is glad she has the walker. She was so excited to sew today as she got all the new fabric washed. Oh well I do not think that is going to happen for a few days. Well I have to go back to my nursing duties. Everyone have a good eveing.

This morning mom took me for a big walk with lots of training. Mom said I did very well and that hopfully i burned off some energy. Then they started to get ready to go somewhere. I was not sure if I was going since I have had to stay home the last couple days. I heard dad say is your dog going and i heard mom say yes. Well I waited to see if she called me and point to the step. Well she did and i went there and sat quietly while she put on my working collar. I heard mom tell dad that she was not feeling good enough to do the fabric store and costco. She said that he could drop off mom and me at Joanns' fabrics and he could do costco. She said we should not be long as some of the sales were done and that it should be slower then yesterday. She said she was not getting fabric and had a coupon to use for some needles and things. I was so excited that mom could hardly get my vest on. We headed to the store and dad headed to Costco. I got so excited going into the store that i forgot to heel. Mom got me in the store and over to one side. She got my attention and was glad to see there was carts. mom likes using a cart and it makes me heel and behave better. Well the store was packed. We could hardly get down the isles. On the needle isle mom positioned me between her and the cart and put me on a down so she could focus on what she needed. About that time we see an employee heading for us. She says mam you will have to..... and then she looked down and saw my vest and said never mind. We then continued to look at stuff on mom's list. She found some wonderful batting for dog mats. The had 100% cotton and bamboo. She said years ago she could only find poly. It was on sale so she grabbed some of each. Then we headed to the checkout line. It serpentined around the store and it was long. We would move 3 steps and then I would down for a minute or two and then we would move 3 steps. Mom said it was wonderful practice. I thought it was very booorrriing. Once we got through the line we headed out to the parking lot and dad was waiting for us. Mom said I did very well considering how crowded it was. When we got home the neighbor was putting lights up all over her rv. When I came out later in the day there was a noise coming from the neighbors' yard. It was some sort of blow up snow globe thing. it worried me a little so mom took me over to see it. There was a snowman in there with snow blowing all around him. After I saw what it was I was okay with it. Mom used her new sewing machine to do some alterations to my vest straps. She is still getting used to the new machine.

This morning my friend meadows' mom came and picked up my mom. She said it was Black friday and that I was not ready for that. i looked outside and i did not see the black. Then she said since i have thrown a few fits being left home that we needed to work on that. Since spending 24 hours a day for 6 days with my mom on our trip I do not like being left home. I have always stayed home in my crate and been fine. Lately mom and dad have come home and I am barking. They set up a 2 way radio next to my crate and then they take one with them. If they here me bark when they get home I hear a sharp NO. If it does not improve they are talking to my trainer. I have the answer, they should take me with them everytime. Well mom came home with all kinds of fabric so mom could use her new machine to make me and my dog friend all kinds of things. She also found some pants for her. She took me for a big walk this evening and we played so I forgive her.

We are back from our vacation and I have so much to tell. I have told mom to keep it short as some times she goes on and on. We had a great time and we all learned so much. Mom did not have to use the walker the whole time but when she did it helped and I was very good with it. When we arrived at Sam’s Town in LasVegas on Sunday we were all excited and anxious. This would be out first trip with me as a SDIT. Dad decided it would be a good idea to get checked into our room and grab a bite to eat first. It was a good thing as our room was not ready. We had to walk through an atrium to get to the hotel lobby and mom was nervous. They made it to look like a park and mom was afraid I may have an accident. Of course I did not but there was a lot to see and take in. We had only been in the building 3 minutes and we ran right into a guide team. Luckily mom, dad and the dog’s handler were all between us dogs. This is the first team we have encountered so mom thought back to what she has learned from folks here. So she blurts out we have a service puppy in training. About that time the Golden Retriever lets out 4 very loud barks. These were not let’s play barks they were hey mom there is something here. Well the woofs echoed through the atrium and everyone looked our direction. I just looked over at the Golden and mom hustled me on by. Mom was very nervous about being access challenged on this trip and it never happened. In fact everyone at the property was very warm and welcoming. The security guards who guard the entrances all became our friends. The cocktail waitress brought mom and dad lots of drinks so they could say. All of the restraints were sure to get us very nice seating so that I had plenty of space. Even though mom was very strict on my visiting I have a huge fan club there. After 3 nights of staying in Las Vegas dad called The Golden Nugget in Laughlin. He was able to get 2 free nights so we headed down there. I liked Laughlin; they had a nice river walk that we went out on several times. It was nice to be out in the fresh air and look at all the big ducks on the path. On our first day mom and I were walking through the casino past the gaming tables when a hairy black and white Tasmanian devil wearing a vest came at us growling and barking. Mom said it was hard to tell but she thinks it was a shi-Tzu. I just looked at the dog and mom told me to leave it and we walked off. We could hear the older couple still yelling at the dog on the other side of the room. We found out later it is a regular there and it even does that to people. Mom says as long as they spend money there they probably do not say anything. All and all mom says it was a great trip. I alerted mom to her head pains a couple times but she did not listen the first time. She thought I was being pesky and needed a break so we went to our room. Shortly afterwards she got her head pain and had to take a pill. Well the next time I alerted she took a pill and we went to the room just as the head pain started. Mom has decided she needs to read me a little better and pay attention. Mom says that after this trip she feels we are a team and I agree. Mom says that this trip was the best thing we could have done for my training. Even dad had fun and said I did very well. We may do it again next month as they have more free nights…….

Well this morning was kind of boring while mom did laundry and chores. Then mom put my going somewhere collar on. Then the three of us went over to my friend Meadows' house. I was so excited when mom got me out of the car. While mom and dad visited with her folks Meadow and I raced around the house and had a great time. When we got home Mom drug out some fabric boxes with handles. There was lots of discussion on what we are taking and what we are not. Dad warned mom not to overpack like she always does. Well she was so proud of herself she was able to get all her, dads and my stuff in one large suitcase. She was even able to fit the cloth folding crate in there.
Then mom decided that me and the monster had better take a test drive together. So mom pushed the monster walker and I heeled next to her. At first I was a little confused on where I should walk. After a little bit and mom's help I figured it out. Mom is so glad she got the larger one. It has more room for her to sit and the opening is enough that the two of us fit between the sides. I am very protected tucked in behind the walker and it actually makes me heel better. Mom also rigged up a pad on the seat so that she has a comfy spot to rest. Mom also said as a back up if she wanted me off the ground I have a good place to ride. All in all I think mom feels very comfortable with the set up. I think we will have a good trip. We will not have internet access so I will not be posting until we return.

Yeaa mom had her first 24 hours of no head pain since September. She slept really well and we got up early and her and I went to the dog park. All my favorite dogs plus a few new ones were there. We ran and played for almost 2 hours. When we got home mom said I needed a bath, I guess she was right because the shower floor was very dirty during my bath. Then I had a whack attack around the house to dry my coat. Finally mom made me breakfast and it was very good I love raw bison. Then mom and dad went out to do errands, wich was okay because I was very tired and took a big nap. When they got home they brought this monster in the house. Mom calls it a rolling walker I call it a big metal thing on wheels. Mom thought she would bring it in so I could get used to it. Everytime I touch it and mom is watching I get a treat. So that is fun, also she put me on the seat and pushed me around of course I loved this. Then mom gave me treats for walking under and down stay under it. I did not like this that much . Tommarrow we are going to practise outside heeling. Mom is feeling better and I think having the walker will help so we are going to Las Vegas. Mom will try to get some pictures of our new leash and us with the walker.

Well mom is not to woozy so she decided to type my entry. This morning the alarm went off early and everyone was up. Mom took me out for a quickie walk and then and her dad got ready to leave. I thought I was going but mom put me in my crate with an apple & oat dog biscuit. She said they would not be gone long and they would feed me breakfast then. They were home by 9:30 and mom looked horrible. She had some sort of procedure were they sedated her and injected cortisone in her neck. I was worried about her and just sat and watched her. She looked pale and said she was in pain, dizzy and nauseaus. Well dad got her something to eat and some meds and she looked a little better later on. Dad wanted to hang out on the patio and watch tv. It is very nice out here in AZ. Mom seemed a little better but did not want to leave her recliner. So I spent the day out there with him. I make him think that I want to spend time with him but actually I love snooping on what is going on around us. I lay on the lounge chair at his feet and pretend I am sleeping while i spy on the neighbors. Mom looks a little better but is wore out. We are all hoping this helps and she starts feeling better. Not sure if we are going on our trip on Sunday. I was excited as it was to be a training trip for me. I figured Las Vegas was a good spot to train if I made mistakes because the say "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". So the next couple days will tell. Our trainer called and my new custom leash is ready so we are going to meet for a lesson tomarrow and pick it up. Well we are checking out for the day. Thanks everyone for your good thoughts and wishes and my gifts.

Well mom had another bad night so we all slept in. After we all had breakfast dad had to do inventory of the rv's in the park so mom decided her and I would go along. Dad helped mom put a couple leads together so we could practice for a hands free leash. Our trainer is making a custom one because I am too short and mom is too tall for the ones on the market. She has had trouble finding hardware that was small enough for me but easy enough for mom to use. Mom also wanted to collect feathers for a project she had in mind. So off we went me by mom's side as she used the gopher grabbers to pick up feathers and put in a plastic bag. Dad walked close by with his clip board. At some point mom got a vision of what we must look like and started laughing. I did very well and mom was pleased. She liked the idea of having more freedom with her hands. When we got back to our space I went inside with dad for a few moments. Mom came and got me and took me out to the patio. It was covered with feathers and other interesting stuff. Mom explained this was for my LEAVE IT training. This was so hard for me as mom says I have a feather fetish. We worked on this for a while and I got better. Afterwards mom got out the grooming table, I was so bummed. I am not sure if you know this but terrier's with my coat are hand stripped. This means plucking out the old coat for new to come in. Today it was my face, it seams mom thought it looked bushy. Of course after that then my feet looked bushy, so of course she did them next. Luckily she was tired so she left the rest of me alone. This called for a big nap until dinner time. Afterwards we went for a big walk and I did very well and now I am done for the day.

No entry yesterday both mom and the internet have been broken. Mom had such a bad night thursday that she hung out on the couch all day yesterday. Of course it was my job to watch over her so I stayed there also. Then the interenet died and mom was irritated as she had hoped she could catch up on stuff while lounging. Good news is both mom and the internet are better this morning. Mom took me to the dog park. My best friend Meadow was there and a lot of new little dogs I did not know. We all played together for about 1 1/2 hours. I was dirty and exhausted but very happy. When we got home mom gave me a quickie bath outside(it is 85 here in AZ and the water is warm) then I ate my breakfast outside on the patio with mom. Mom figured I would konk out but I was to wound up. Then about 2:00 Meadow's mom called and I heard mom talking about going to the mall and heard my name. Well mom started getting someof my stuff out so I started watching her closely. Then mom and I went out to the car and her friend drove up. I was so excited to see her but was upset that she did not bring meadow. Mom told me that Meadow could not go to the mall with us. On the way to the mall mom's friend was asking how she should act around me. Mom told her just to ignore me and when we are all done mom would take off my vest and then she could do her usually cuddling. Well we walked around the mall and I did very well. We went in Sees candy and they got a free sample and I got nothing(not fair). I rode up and down in the moving glass room again. I did a little better it is just not my favorite thing. Then my mom said that I had never been in the store just the mall so we went into a store called Macy's. I can see why dad does not want to go in these stores BOOORRRRRIIINNNNGGGG!!!!! Luckily mom said she did not see anything good on the clearance racks so we left. We then walked out of the mall and mom took off my vest and played with me. Her friend talked and petted me. We then went to a store called Ross. Another boring store so I am glad we did not stay long. As we were walking around there was alittle older white dog in a ridiculas one piece pajama laying over its owners shoulder. The lady was on the phone pushing a cart. My mom's friend asked mom if that was a service dog because it was not wearing a vest. Mom told her she did not think so but did not like to assume or make judgement without facts. Mom figures the security guy who let us in also let them in. Mom did make a point of walking right by the woman, of course I was heeling perfect. Mom had me do some turns and sit and down. I was sooooo good for her. I looked over at the dog in pajamas and was glad my mother did not do that to me. We then left Ross and headed home. After getting home I had dinner and mom thought I would be exhausted and take a nap. No way I am like the energizer bunny. I am running around playing with toys. Maybe when I am done dictating to mom I will take a break.

This morning mom and dad left to do a few errands and I stayed home. Mom does not want me to get used to going every time and she said she was getting her knee supports fitted and did not think I would be that helpful. In my opinion I am always helpful. Then they came home and picked me up and we went to Home Depot and Lowes. I did really well except for impersinating a hoover vacum cleaner. With my nose only an inch of the ground it is hard to ignore all these goodies. Our trainer said this is the next major thing mom and I need to work on. Mom uses LEAVE IT but I do not always or she is too slow and I am too fast. The trianer gave mom some drills and ideas for us to try. They had one area in home Depot that was a mess with all kinds of little tidbits on the floor. Dad followed behind and said mom was too slow and her corrections were to weak. Mom became frustrated and said fine you do it. Of course dad took me through and he was better and I did really well. Mom was irritated but happy to see how dad did it and it worked. Mom always says it is the handler not the dog's fault. So then mom did it and dad watched and She did better. We then headed home and the folks ate lunch and I had a rest. Then I saw mom getting ready and went and sat on the step so she could get my collar on easier. Mom looked at me and said okay if your up to it. Dad put the ice chest in the car and we went to the grocery store. We went to two stores and I did very well. I did solicet really bad from this one lady who kept straing at me and smiling. Mom got my attnetion and then we moved on. Most of the time I just looked at mom cause she had treats. We are now home for the evening. Mom said her legs and head hurt to bad for our evening walk. It is okay because I am wore out. I know we will have our evening task/game play time. We always practice the old ones and sometimes mom adds in a new one. I look foreward to it every evening and if mom forgets I always come and remind her it is time to practice. See as I said I am very helpful.

Well mom has not been feeling very well so i am behind on my entries. Since mom has been down there is not a whole lot to report until today. Mom took me for a nice training walk this morning and i did really well. Then this afternoon we had a private lesson with our trainer at the outdoor mall. Mom was in pain so she took some pain meds and dad drove us. He dropped us off and went to do some errands. The trainer said I did really well and even mom had improved. She said her "NOs" were much better as well as her timimg she also said she liked that she was praising me more and I agree. The tainer had mom put me on a down stay with her at the bench and then mom went around the corner. Mom has been wanting to practice this but wanted to leave me with someone I could not manipulate and would correct me properly. I did not whine but did get up twice the whole time. Mom would come by me stop and then go the other way around a corner. They did this for about 10 minutes, frankly I got bored of the whole game. Then we walked aound some more and did differnt things. There was a store with a water bowl out front and really nice ladies so our trainer suggested mom take off my vest and let them visit with me. It was so nice to have a break and be goo gooed over. Then the vest was back on and I was back to work. When we were done the trainer said I was doing great. Mom asked about the trip to las Vegas and she said of course i was ready just take me and have fun. If I get burnt out that mom will know and we can take a break in our room or something. Mom has allready searched out some dog parks. Then we met up with Dad and said goodbye to our trainer. Dad was all excited about this place him and mom had been wanting to try. It was a sushi/martinit bar that was open(usually they are there earlier in the day and it is closed) and he wanted to try it. Well mom was not sure because I had only done outside dining and she did not have my pad she has been having me lay on at mealtime. Mom tends to worry and freak out over the sillist things. Then she remebered what the trainer said and thought what the heck. So in we went. they were so nice and let mom choose anywhere they wanted to sit. So we sat in another room were no one was in a corner. Mom said it was perfect for my first time as I could experience it without a lot of distraction. Well of course i was perfect. I stayed on my down stay the whole time even when the servers came to the table. It probably helped that i was hot and tired. So mom and I are both in a good mood after a good lesson and my first indoor restraunt. I am wore out and ready for bed. I think mom needs to rest also so she is done for the night being my secretary.

This moning it seemed like we were all heading out again, but I overheard mom tell Dad that it would be good for me to stay home. Mom has seen so many dogs with seperation anxiety that she wants to make sure I am okay with staying home sometimes. Mom had another Dr. appt. and I stayed home. When they got back they said that they were going out and I was going along. Mom said since I did so well at the grocery store last week and that they only needed a few things it would be good for me. My biggest problem was all the smells, and only being 1 inch off the ground makes it even harder. Mom said I did really well. Overall I was pretty focused i just get distracted by all the activity. We then stopped back by home to drop off groceries and then go pickup up mom's MRI films for her Dr. appt next monday and another Prescription. On the way home Dad decided to stop by the Harley Shop. Dad used to own a motorcylce and loves to just stop in and look at the bikes. Mom says that it is a good place for me to practice while dad drools at the bikes. They have a nice lounge area so mom and I headed over there. i had my vest on so no one came over to say hi. Mom kept throwing objects on the ground for me to bring to her. i did good until she tossed one of the newspapers they had sitting on a table. I went over picked it up and then shook it and played with it before taking it to mom. mom got all embarressed and decided not to try that again. We then heeled around the bikes and did some sits and downs. There were several people watching and asking mom questions. Then all of a sudden mom took my vest off and said ALL DONE and started playing fun with me. Mom then took me over to the ladies and said that I could visit and be off duty. It was so nice to visit with all the people. Jojo's and Jolanda's mom suggested this to my mom, I think it is great. We were going to make another stop but mom's knees hurt and was wore out so we called it a day. i cannot wait until to see were we go tomarrow. I heard mom say that if she is up to it we may go to the dog park and then a few new places. I hope she feels good.

I am 10 months old today!!! Mom is doing better, mentally and physically. We were up and about early this morning. I thought maybe we were going to the dog park, but mom and dad were acting different. They put the cooler in the car next to my crate and off we went. I heard mom say we were headed to one of her doctors appts. We dropped her off and Dad to me to a nereby park to walk around and burn off some energy. After we picked her up we stopped at a pet food store. Mom ran in and got me some of my raw food and mom said they had venison this time, yummmmmmmm. We then headed to Costco. This was my first time to this store, we have been to Sam's club but it was waaaaayyyy less crowded. There were people and carts everywhere. I had a little trouble getting distracted but overall mom said I did really well. After Costco we went to the wine and spirits store. Mom and me got a cart and practised with me staying out of the way. We wandered around while dad went another direction. Several people talked to mom about me and she handed out a couple of my cards. This older man came by and started Goo Gooing over me. The women from one of the couples turned to him and said shhh she is working. Mom smiled and said thank you to both of them. Then mom had to use the restroom, this has been a difficult area for me. I did perfect, I was not worried and mom gave me a very nice treat and told me how proud she was of me. We finally found dad and checked out. This man behind me says " what could alittle dog like that possibly do" My mom says" well she can bring me the phone, medicine and anything she needs. She also can alert me to medical conditions that I am not aware of." He then said "mmmm well she cannot open cupboards." And mom says "if I put a towel on there she can pull it open." After that he did not say anymore and it was our turn to check out. GO MOM, I love when she sticks up for me and all little SDs.
I slept in my crate all the way home, I was wore out. Mom and I spent the afternoon cuddling on the couch. Mom told me she is so happy to have me and proud of how well I am doing. I am proud of both of us.

First of all mom's knees have been really bad latley and last night in bed she moved wrong and made her left one get all big looking. This morning we had our private lesson with our trainer at the outdoor mall. Well mom was not going to miss that so she wrapped up her knee and off we went. At first I was my usual brainless self then in 5 minutes or so my brain arrived. Mom worries to much, the trainer said I am doing great. During the lesson the trainer pointed out things mom could improve on. When the lesson was over mom asked her how she thought we were doing for me only going to be 10 mos. next week. She said great and excellant for a terrier. She said she knew people who had terriers who were not even housebroken at my age let alone all that I know. She said that mostly I know all the basics and now comes the slower more patient training of perfecting it. Becasue my trainer knows my mom likes honesty she told mom, her "no's" suck(darn) and that she needs to tell me how good I am doing more often(I agreed). She said the main thing is mom's timing and consistancy. She also said mostly I just need to go out in public everyday and work. Since I have perfected home I need to move on( I agree, cause I love going places). So then Mom and I headed home(it is about 20 minutes). On they way mom remembered we were out of lunchmeat. She only buys one brand and at one store(picky). It was on the way home and she did not want to go out later. She was not sure about taking me to the grocery for the first time and by herself(Her and I have not done public by ourselves) and then she rembered what our trainer said. She thought what the heck, I only need just the one item and the store is very quiet this time of day. This chain of stores also has big signs "service animals welcome" she had allready decided this would be a good practice store. So she found a good parking spot, put my vest on, made me go pee and off we went. Mom was suprised I was perfect, she just has no faith in me. We went straight to the deli counter. No one was there so mom ordered one of the meats and then to the restrooms. When we came back there were 3 people at the counter. We hung back near a display. Mom put me on a down stay. When it was out turn mom told the lady the rest of the order and we just stayed there and waited. Some other people showed up and stood around us. I did very good and stayed put. Then our order was ready so mom tried something. She dropped my leash and told me to stay and she went and got her order. Came back and picked up my leash, told me heel and off we went. We heard about 3 wow's as we walked off. We practice this all the time but never in a store. Both of us walked out with our heads a little swollen. I behaved perfect at my first time at the checkout. Many people asked questions and could not believe I behaved that well for my age, my mom explained that many SDIT act this well at this age it just requires a lot of training. Now mom is sitting in the recliner with an ice pack on her knee typing this for me. I am just taking a VERY BIG NAP. Tomarrow we are going to another dog party Yea!!!

Well yesterday mom had physical Therapy so we did not go do anything fun. We did our usual morning and evening walk and training. This morning we went to the dog park!!! The closest park is a 20 minute drive each way but mom says it is worth it to wear me out. We used to go 3 times a week but latley 1-2. The rv park we are staying in now has great areas to walk and train in. But as she says, nothing is better then an off lead run with my friends. My best friend Meadow is a beagle and lives close by. She has a backyard and sometimes I go over there and play in her yard and house. I love it there as they think I am adorable and spoil me rotten. Mom has been teaching me to get up on the first step in the rv from the kitchen to the bedroom . This helps her from bending over so far when she puts on and off the leash. I am getting really good at it, I even sit without being told and then when ready hop down and sit again for instrucions. Mom says if only I get heeling as fast as i do tricks and tasks. Oh well they are more fun then heeling, what can I say. Actually I am not that bad, I just tend to inch foreward and when I see another dog i sometimes pull to go see it. Mom says that she is going to have our trainer help us with that at our lesson on Friday. We are going to meet at the outdoor mall. Mom says that she is going to take Josephine and Jolanda's moms advice and take my vest off afterwards and make a big deal over me and have a playtime, it all sounds good to me. Well my mom needs to make my dinner and then out for my big walk.
