Other pups have been receiving Anonymous gifts. From somepup who is very giggly.

Now it is my turn to receive an anonymous heart gift. Inside it reads:
Wags and licks to my favfurite labby guy pup!

Using my shrewd deductive reasoning skills, I don't think this is the same Anonymous sending gifts to the other pups. I noted the lack of giggling in my gift.

But just now, we were all outside. Mom was scooping poop, getting the garage cats and chickens tucked in.
I got the zoomies. Around the yard I ran. Making Tux tracks in the snow.

Ok, so Dad's mom is here. I really barked good at her when she first got here. And I kept barking at her for the first day. I mean, she was a stranger. Strangers need to be barked at and checked out.
But, I gave her the A-OK. She talks real soft. She scratches my chin and neck. And she moves real slow and sits alot. She's not scary now.

Mom is keeping kind of busy so I will bark my thanks for the rosettes and nice comments about being a Diary Pick.

Thanks Pals!

I got to clean out the cat food dish in the garage today!
As Zoe says, lemme tell you about it.

Mom went away this morning. When she got back, she had some bags in her hands. We went outside to potty. Mom didn't come right back outside.
I discovered the gate was open. I think Mom didn't get it latched good and the wind blew it open. I took advantage of the situation and went into the garage. There was quite a bit of food in the dish out there! Yummy!
Then I heard Mom calling me. As I was heading out, here came Zoe! Sorry Zoe, I ate just about all of the cat food.
Mom looked kinda concerned when she saw me coming out of the garage. She said she wasn't real sure where I was. Then she looked happy. I guess she would rather have me eat garage cat food than go wandering the neighborhood.
Anytime Mom!

Mom took the Schnauzers to be groomed. I stayed at home with Dad.
When Mom got home, we both went outside. She grabbed the Chuck-It and lobbed it once in the yard. But when the Schnauzers are gone, we go out into our small acreage to play. That way, no one barks at us and out there only the cats bother us.
So we headed out the gate! I went into the garage to grab several mouthfuls of cat food. I kept grabbing mouthfuls while Mom called to me first to "come" then to "leave it". Finally, I did come.
We went back in the yard without playing Chuck-It.

Mom told me I blew it.

What is up with me today? Mom noticed right away. I am "off". I am holding my tail down, not tucked, just down. I am clinging to her. Actually, I am trying to be a part of her. When she was folding some laundry, I was between her legs.
She is watching me, talking to me. Trying to comfort me.
Am I sick? I am panting some. Or am I scared? There is a big tractor rig working across the road. Maybe the noise is bothering me.
Right now as I dictate this entry, I am relaxing next to Mom's chair.

But this is My day in the spotlight. Mom had the day marked on her calendar and then Dogster seems to be working better and notified us that it is my birthday. Well, that is a made up day. Mom went in a tweaked my page to show this as my Gotcha Day. Yep, I've been here 3 years. So that makes me about 5 or so.
Wow, and look at the great picture Redford and crew had put inside my ice cream rosette. And sweet little Whitley sent some watermelon with a bunch of little happy face guys inside. And Really big dogs Abby and Lucian sent me a beach ball. Tessa and Fitzcairn sent my a nice juicy steak.
Thanks all of you pups!
I wonder if Mom will make me some homemade Frosty Paws? Doo posted a recipe for some. I think I will be extra sweet and ask Mom to make some.

This is already shaping up to be a furtastic day!

Yesterday the house call vet lady came to give us our shots.
I was my usual key-upped wild self when anyone comes around. I am usually very mellow when it's just the family but have anyone pull in or come in the yard or house and I am a crazed nut.

The vet lady didn't trust me. Mom had me on a leash. She was holding me real tight. But the vet lady didn't trust me.

I had to have a soft muzzle before the vet lady would poke me with the shots. Mom put it on me. I was trying to see what the vet lady was doing to me back there on my neck where she poked me. I had a wild look in my eyes.

It was all over in a flash and then I went outside.

Truly, I am a very sweet boy. I'll melt onto the floor for a tummy rub. I get right in Mom's face to comfort her when she has been watching a sad movie.

But I do a great crazy, nutzo, psycho act when anyone comes around.

Have I mentioned before that I like to chase the ball with a Chuck-It? Well, I do. Bol! I also like to run after a plain tennis ball in the yard.
I can't always do that because Tommy usually chases me when I am running after the ball. I don't even let Mom have the ball until I see that all the other dogs are occupied with something else.
All that to say that I don't often play fetch. Hardly ever get to go out of the yard to use the Chuck-It.
But yesterday! Mom had on several water sprinklers. Since Tommy doesn't like to get wet, he stayed inside one time when Mom went outside. I went outside too.
Just Mom and me were out there. We took advantage of the situation. Mom got the Chuck-It, we keep it outside. We went out of the yard and into the back weedy/rocky place!
Mom launched the ball and I ran! I was so happy to be playing that I went around and around with the ball in my mouth. Finally, I dropped it so that Mom could launch it again.
We played for several minutes. Mom didn't want me to "overdo". Sometimes I throw up when I've been running a lot.
Sure was fun! I hope, hope, hope we can play Sneaky Chuck-It soon!

I think I have barked before about being a Mood Mirror. When Mom is feeling blue and gets the leaky eyes, I come around and sit right in front of her. She has to pet me. And that makes her feel better. Sometimes she will cry while she is watching some old movie. I will do the same deal, come over and she has to pet me. She feels better and tells me she is alright.
Even when there are no leaky eyes, I can tell when Mom is upset. I will come over and, you got it, sit in front of her to have her pet me.
This deal works for Dad too. He came home from work just awhile ago.
He was upset. I could tell. He was talking to Mom about taxes and being told the wrong thing. Now he has to hurry and do the taxes. While he was talking to Mom, I went right over in front of him. He had to pet me. Mom told him I knew he was upset.

That's just the kind of guy I am. If your people are upset have them come over. They will feel better after they pet me. And I won't charge too much.
After they feel better, they can throw a tennis ball for me. :-)

Right after breakfast we went outside in the rain. That's when we heard what had all the makings of a cat fight. We all went over to the yard gate for a better look. I could see our Puffycat (Inkspot) over by the pickup truck. Couldn't see much else. It was dark and raining.
Mom went out there but didn't stay long. She came back to the gate and hesitated. I looked pretty willing to go out and help investigate the noise. But she wanted to go in for a flashlight.
The other dogs went in but I went out with Mom and the flashlight. This is kinda embarrassing. Instead of sticking right with Mom and the flashlight, I ducked into the garage. There is cat food in a dish in there. Yummy.
But I got called back out before I barely got in. Went with Mom to see about the cat fight noises. She was telling somebody to get lost and keep on moving. By the time I got over there all I saw was our Puffycat.
I wasn't much help.
So I ran back into the garage for a bite of that kitty food.
Humph, Mom had picked up the dish so that stray cat didn't eat all the food. I had to clean up little crumbs on the floor.
Looking back, I didn't really help Mom much.
Oh well, I nabbed a few small bites of kitty food.

I heard Mom and Dad talking about going on a walk. Just me and Dad, while the Schnauzers were at the groomer's. But I am kinda a nervous sort, especially when there is something going on. Dad was concerned I might go extreme-goofy without Mom and the Schnauzers.
So I didn't get a walk yesterday.
But, when Mom got home, sans Schnauzers, we played with the Chuck-It out in our weed patch! Good times! Dad came out and a couple of the garage cats came out. It was a nice sunny day and we played and played.
When it was time to come back I carried my ball around to the walk-through garage door. I left it there and nabbed some cat food! I could hear Mom calling but that cat food was a treat I just had to have.
And Mom didn't even get mad. She told me I shouldn't have done that but she was kind of snickering under her breath.
Then back in the yard and Dad threw the tennis ball for me.

Mom gave me a new tennis ball yesterday! Fun! We played fetch with it. Until it bounced over the fence.
That's ok though. Mom and I have a system. I run to the yard gate and she and I go out into the front yard. I run around to the gate into the neighbor's pasture and start hunting the ball. I've done it before. It's fun! I am a good boy and run over there, find the ball and come right back to Mom. Then we go back into our yard. That's just what I did yesterday.
Then the Schnauzers basically attacked me. They weren't biting, but they were "yelling" at me and getting all up in my grill.
I just didn't feel like playing with the tennis ball after that.
We all came inside. But Mom did tell me I was a good boy.
I hope we can play with the new tennis ball today.

The Schnauzers left with Mom. Ugh. I did stay home with Dad but I do get nervous without the other pups and Mom.
But then, hallelujah! Mom got home. I let her know I would really, really like to go out of the yard to play with the Chuck-It toy.
She took the hint! We went out into the weedy place and Inkspot and Scooter came with us. Mom tossed the ball for me several times.
I guess I must be out of shape. I only played for about 4 or 5 throws and then I wouldn't let her toss the ball. We came back in the yard and now I am relaxing in the house.
I gotta get back in shape.

Mom cooked bacon on the grill the other morning. You know, so the house wouldn't smell like bacon for several days. Then she burned some burgers yesterday.
Some of that yummy greasy flavor dripped onto the patio. I started lapping it up. Even though I was getting wet. I know, I know, I am part lab but I don't really like getting wet.

by Alexandra Yurkovsky

That describes me yesterday. I got to go on a walk along the ditch bank where all kinds of men and machines had been working. It is much quieter there now so we went for a walk.
The poem describes me so well, that is why I had to be put on a leash on the way back. Mom didn't want me running into the road on the way home.
It was a good walk!

We had all gone to bed last night.
That's when I started barking.
Now you gotta know that I don't do that unless I hear something outside or Sister comes in late, after we are all in bed.
So when I let out a big bark, Mom and Sister kinda got creeped out.
Was I barking at fireworks? Did I hear voices? A cat growling?
I can't say.
I got quiet. Then in an hour or so I let out a few more barks.
Mom thought about calling the sheriff's office to do a drive by check. But that seemed a little silly.
"Hello, could you send out a car to just drive past my place? Well, there is nothing wrong. My dog is barking at something."

I quit barking. Mom went back to sleep.
All is well this morning. Sorry for kinda skeering you Mom.

Had to go over to the neighbor's pasture to retrieve a tennis ball that Sister had thrown. Problem was, I didn't see where the ball went.
Sister told Mom. The other dogs went inside. Mom let me out the other yard gate. I ran around a little bit crazy but she told me to find the ball.
I went over there but I had no idea where the ball was. Mom didn't want to climb through the barb wire so we came back into our yard. She showed me the direction of the ball. I went back over to the neighbor's pasture. Sister came out and the both of them were telling me to find the ball.
I was running and looking for all I was worth. It was fun!
Finally Sister acted like she was throwing the ball. Then I finally found that ball!
I brought it back in the yard and Sister threw it for me a couple of times. This time she didn't throw it into the neighbor's pasture.

When Mom and Dad adopted me, the shelter lady told them I was about a year and a half old. So even though my Dogster profile says I am 3, I am a little older than that. But what is really the important thing is that I have been in my furever home for 2 years! Mom even has it marked on her big calendar.
Maybe we can all have some home made frosty paws later today. It is a great outside treat for a hot day.

Don't ever think that I can't bark with the best of 'em. I can. I proved it this morning.
We were relaxing inside when we suddenly got invited outside. We went outside and I saw the big truck pull in. A truck with words painted on the back part. A guy got out. Hmm. He looked just like the guy's picture painted on the truck! Anywho, barked a lot at that guy. He went to the front door.
Now the little dog Zoe barks. A lot. But she got to go back inside after a little while. I have been known to nip at guys' pant legs so I stayed outside. Yep, I have nipped at the Orkin man and the appliance delivery guy. So I provided cover fire from our yard. It was safer for the man that way. Mom is a *little* embarrassed that I do bark a ferocious bark and nip at people. But then again, she is here alone during the day. I would scare away anybody thinking bad thoughts. I would protect Mom.

The worker guy went in and out several times carrying stuff. Then he hauled in a new water heater. He stayed inside then. I barked every time he went in or out, when I could see him. I was running around a lot too. I 'pert near wore out my barker! I must admit I almost stopped barking when I saw him come outside the next time. Not quite, but almost stopped. I was panting like crazy and the outside water dish was almost empty. Mom filled it back up for me.

I got to come back inside when the guy left. I checked out what went on and now I am going to take a well-deserved break.

I might have barked about this before but Mom was reminded of this the other day while watching an old movie.
I am her mood ring. This dates Mom, so you'll have to google it if you don't know what a mood ring is. Bol.
The movie was very emotional for Mom. Ups and downs, laughing and crying. But at the very end she was sitting there with tears gushing outta her eyes. I came over and sat right in front of her to check to see if she was alright. I let her know I would do anything to help her feel better.
She thanked me and told me she was fine. She said a good cry is good. Very cleansing.

The movie, by the way, starred Claudette Colbert. It was Since You Went Away. It might not have the same effect on you but the storyline hit close to home for Mom.

Finally it is beginning to act like spring around here. Yes, we still have wind, lots of wind. And we have little snow/sleet showers. But we have had a couple of nice warmer days.
It is So great to be outside. The grass is turning green. Birdies are all around. Life is good.
Life is so good that my happiness seems to come bubbling, no, bursting out at times.
I have been getting the zoomies.
And Drover chases me when I have the zoomies. I like it. It is fun to have the zoomies. Mom stops whatever she has been doing and watches me. She laughs. She loves how my tail curls in a crazy S-shape. Zoe gets the zoomies but she has a stumpy tail and she is much smaller than me, so Mom isn't used to seeing a larger dog, with a tail, get the zoomies.
Maybe you can try the zoomies when your happiness comes bubbling out. You will like it!

He played with Zoe then she got tuckered out and went inside. He played with Drover. He played and played with me. He threw the ball and I would fetch it. Over and over we did this.
We were out in the yard. I was playing fetch with Mom and a plain tennis ball. Somehow the ball bounced up and over the fence. It landed over in the neighbor's pasture. This happened onc time before. Mom opened the other yard gate and out I went with her. I was a little bit crazy in the front yard but then Mom told me to find my ball. I remembered how to get over there. I had to run around for awhile because I couldn't find that ball. But I did find it! Then I ran back into our front yard. I remembered the way, last time, I ran around and went in the garage for a bite of cat food. But Mom told me no and I was a good dog. I came back in the side gate like she wanted me to. Even though Drover was going terriorist and acted like he was going to eat me. Mom was proud that I didn't go around to the garage.
All three of us played for awhile more and then the Schnauzers went inside.
Woo Hoo! Mom and I played with the Chuck-It out in our place. The first throw, the ball got stuck in some netting. I knew it was up there but I couldn't reach it. Mom fished it out. Then we played and played.
Then I made Mom proud again. When it was time to come back in the yard I ran around to the garage door. Mom takes a bit more time because she has to close a walk-through gate. When she got around there I had dropped the ball but I hadn't gone inside for a snack! Wow! You would've thought that was the most amazing thing in the world the way Mom made over me. She told me I was a good boy. When we came in the yard I needed a drink of water but then she hugged on me and told me I was such a good boy.
I like to make Mom proud. It is a good feeling.

Whoo Hoo! Mom took the two Schnauzers away. I stayed at home with Sister. I was a nervous wreck inside so she let me out. I relaxed. Then Mom got back.
She finished watching some of It's Me Or the Dog. We tried to play a game she learned on there. It's called Touch and if I touched her hand with my nose I got a treat. Only problem: Touch and Tux sound a lot alike, don't you think? I did fine with the game though. Love those treats.
Then, oh this gets good, we went for a walk! I really shouldn't call it a walk. I got to run and fetch an old tennis ball. We didn't bring along the Chuck-It because it is real muddy out where we went. We didn't want to spoil my nice orange and blue ball. Or it could have gotten lost! Yikes!
But it worked just fine with the old faded ball. While I was sniffing stuff, I would drop the ball and leave it there. Mom would pick it up and throw it. I would run and fetch. Good times!
When we got over the ditch I was able to run ahead on the little road (don't worry, no vehicles this time of year) and sniff tons of good sniffing stuff. So many different kinds of scents, I can't even begin to identify them. There had been cows for sure. Mom was glad I was carrying my ball by then and didn't try to sample a cow pie.
We got to a gate and turned around and headed back. When we got over the ditch again Mom put a leash on me. She didn't want me running ahead into the road where there might have been some vehicles. I walked pretty good on the leash, of course, I was going a bit slower on the way back. We haven't been off the place in months.
I got a good drink when I got back in our yard. I couldn't get in the garage for a cat food snack. The door was closed. :-(
Now I am relaxing inside. I think Mom is going to trim my nails in a bit. Then it will be about time for the Schnauzers to come home.
Sure hope I can go for another walk/run/fetch time real soon.

Here is a part of the email Mom got.

We found out on Dec. 7 that Ron has a brain tumor. We have been in SLC month of Dec., Jan and part of Feb. Finally home and enjoying being here. He went through 33 treatments of Radiation and Chemo. Will start Chemo again on Monday for 5 days on, 21 days off. Trying to shrink the tumor as it is inoperable. So we are praying for a miracle. Mother Doesn't Want a Dog
by Judith Viorst

Mother doesn't want a dog.
Mother says they smell,
And never sit when you say sit,
Or even when you yell.

When you come home late at night
And there is ice and snow,
You have to go back out because
The dumb dog has to go.

Mother doesn't want a dog.
Mother says they shed,
And always let the strangers in
And bark at friends instead

They do disgraceful things on rugs,
And track mud on the floor,
And flop upon your bed at night
And snore their doggy snore.

Mother doesn't want a dog.
She's making a mistake.
Because, more than a dog, I think
She will not want this snake.

We were all happily playing and sniffing around in the yard. Mom had me come inside. She told me she would be right back and to be a good boy. I heard the car pull out of the drive.
Soon the car pulled back in and Mom let me out of the house.
No Schnauzers! Where did they go? I was very happy to see Mom but I sure couldn't find the Schnauzers anywhere.
Mom and I came inside. I had been a good boy. Then we went outside and played with the Chuck-It! I was so excited about that that I just ran around and around for awhile before I dropped the ball for Mom to toss. We played for awhile in our "pasture" and then came back into the yard.
A couple of the garage cats came over to visit. Scooter likes to have Mom pet her. Puffy likes me. We sniff each other and he rubs on me. He's nice. He even came inside when Mom and I were ready to come in. He ran downstairs. Mom and I went to look for him but he was already back upstairs and ready to go out.
Then I rested, restlessly.

But lately the poop isn't so appealing. Mom has been putting some white powder on all of our food. Probiotics she calls it. Could it be that it is making the Schnauzer poop not so appetizing?

Mom was throwing a tennis ball for me in the backyard. It has gotten very muddy out in our pasture/weed patch so we haven't been out there with the Chuck-It in a few days. Actually the last time we went out there, there was a Great Big Puddle, more like a pond really. Mom tested me on if I would fetch the ball out.
I did. She tossed it in there about 3 times and then we just played on the snow and stuff.
But this afternoon we were just playing fetch in our yard. Somehow the ball bounced against some snow or shrub or something and up and over the fence it went. Right into the neighbor's pasture!
Mom was going to go get it but I had seen where the ball landed. She opened up the side gate. I got to go right into the front yard. I ran around like crazy until she called me over to the corner of our yard. She told me to get the ball. I crawled under the neighbor's gate and ran around for a quick minute. I realized Mom was telling me to get the ball. So that is what I did.
I came back into the front yard. But I went Around the house to the other gate, the gate we use when we go out to play Chuck-It. Only I didn't actually go to the other gate.
The walk-through garage door was part way open for the garage cats to come and go. Now, I am not supposed to do this but there is cat food in a dish in there so I went in and helped myself. I had pretty much cleaned up that bowl of food when I heard Mom using her angry voice and telling me to get outta there. I forgot to pick up the tennis ball. I had dropped it in there. I started back for the ball, grabbed another quick bite of cat food and then Mom invited me through the gate back into the yard.
Lots of fun! Oh, and we just came back in from barking at a couple of dogs wandering around across the road. Barked those dogs away.
Time to relax by the wood stove.

While it is toasty warm inside, outside is a different story. Mom watched the weather widget on her laptop this morning. The single digit numbers got smaller and smaller. Once there was a minus sign in front of the number.
But it is sunny and no wind, even if the widget still shows a single digit. So this afternoon she and I went out to our snow covered acreage and played fetch with my Chuck-it and one of my new genuine Chuck-It balls. (Thank you! Zaidie!)
It is So Much Fun! I love to carry the ball and just run around! Mom will throw the ball with the Chuck-It. I run like a crazy dog and find the ball. Sometimes the ball rolls on the snow. Sometimes the ball plops down into the snow. That is a challenge to find the ball, but I run around and around sniffing, sniffing, sniffing until I find that ball!
I love to feel the ball in my mouth. The ball gets all snowy and then icy. It gets heavy and even with the Chuck-It, Mom can't toss it as far. I over-anticipate where the ball will land. There was one toss, I couldn't find that ball. I ran around looking and sniffing. Mom would tell me to find the ball. I ran all over the place. Mom walked to where she *thought* the ball had landed. She couldn't find it either!
But never fear! Don't panic! Just as Mom was telling me it was a lost cause and we would have to wait for the spring thaw, I had the ball in my mouth!
I am that good at Chuck-It fetch.

Thank you pup pals for noticing my diary pick yesterday! I got some great new rosettes and gifts added to my page. Thank you!
I got to play today with my new ball that I got for Christmas. It is about the same size as a tennis ball but it is hard plastic. It has a couple of little felt wings on the sides and it has some bumps all over it. Since it is a hard ball, it is an outside toy. Mom and I went out this afternoon to give the ball a try. She threw it. It makes bird whistling sounds! I ran after it but let it lay there in the grass. Mom went over and picked it up. She threw it again. There were those bird whistling sounds again. I ran over to the ball. Left it laying there again. Mom walked over, picked it up, threw it. This time when I ran to the ball, Mom really made a big deal over me grabbing the ball. I got the idea and brought it back to her. We played fetch for awhile. Then I decided to let the ball be in my mouth. I needed to get the feel of it. I wouldn't let it go for Mom to throw.
Let it go for Mom to throw. Bol. That rhymes.
Anyways then the big white Inkspot cat and the Scooter cat came over into the yard. Mom started petting them. I still was tasting the new ball. Never did put it back down. Mom was getting cold, so we came in. My new ball is right in the middle of the living room right now.
Maybe tomorrow Mom will try the ball in the Chuck-it. It looks to be about the right size!

This morning got a little out of hand. Mom just dumped a bag of toys in the middle of the living room. Then Brother brought out some toys from his room. I didn't really know what to do.
Zoe went ballistic trying to get all the toys at the same time. Drover was determined to grab at least one toy to play with. I was able to grab a little birdie toy that makes little birdie noises. That was a different noise. It made me pause and listen.
Wildness continued. The people tried to get me to play but Zoe was always grabbing toys away.
Finally things calmed down. Later in the day I went outside with Brother and played with the Chuck-it. That was a pleasant break.
I am glad Christmas only comes once a year. I don't handle all the excitment very well.

Mom and Sister left us alone this morning with an admonition to be good.
When they got back, there was an extra person with them. Zoe got all silly and squealy. Drover was friendly and they both went right to the extra person.
Uh, I was confused. Here is an intruder in our yard. With our Mom and Sister. Shouldn't we be acting like we are going to get the intruder? But the intruder knew my name. I was the only dog barking. I was the only dog with my hackles raised. But the intruder knew my name. It finally started to register.
This was Brother. Oh yeah, I remember this guy. He didn't look much different than I was starting to remember. But he hasn't been here for a long time. It was kind of embarrassing to realize I was barking at a family member.
Everything turned out alright though. He came in and eventually sat on the floor. I came over and got reacquainted. He talked nicely and petted me. I relaxed and put my head on his legs. Until he told me they were falling asleep. Then I had to move.
I guess I should follow Zoe's lead in barking at intruders. She is a professional.

Ever since Mom threw away my old Chuck-It ball, my Chuck-It has been broken. It just didn't work the same if Mom tried to use a regular tennis ball. Even a bright green brand new tennis ball was just wrong. My Chuck-It only works with a Chuck-It brand ball. You know, the bright orange and blue ball with the words Chuck-it printed on there.
I got 2 brand new Chuck-It balls from the very generous LWD Zaidie! He sent our family a big box of all kinds of wonderful things. The most wonderful-est being my 2 new Chuck-It balls.
Mom tried me out with them. She was afraid I might need the old torn up ball. But heck no! The brand new ball works just fine! It is great to play with the Chuck-It again!

Wow! First thing this morning Mom tells me I have a Dogster Diary Pick! Of course, Zoe wants to take all the credit for my diary. I don't get that. But that's the way she is.
Then I started getting all kinds of nice pmails and rosettes from my great pals! If I missed thanking each of you, please forgive me. Our 'puter sometimes doesn't let us see all of our goodies, especially those Spot Bots. So here is a great big Thank You!
And then it snowed today. Nice Christmas card kinda snow. Big flakes came down nearly all day. No wind. It's not very cold. So Mom and I got to play fetch. I had a blast finding that faded tennis ball once it floofed into the snow. I would almost always find it. Once Mom had to come help me. She got the point, she found the ball with her foot.
See, the way we play, I get a point if I find the ball. She gets a point if she finds the ball. I win every time!
Now it is time to relax and warm up by the stove. I hope we have popcorn later.
A perfect day. Well, I could've used more fetching playtime.

On our last trip outside last night, my schnooter was the first out the door. I sniffed a quick sniff and then grabbed the little mouse that the Georgie cat had left on the door mat. I mean, it was right there. It would have gotten stepped on if someone hadn't picked it up.
I was that someone. Mom immediately told me to drop it. She hadn't even opened the door all the way. Only my head was outside. I backed up. With the mouse in my mouth. I dropped it on the little rug by the door. Mom called for Sister to help. Mom held Zoe and me back and covered the mouse with her foot. Don't worry, the mouse wasn't alive and she didn't step on the mouse, just covered it. It wasn't bloody but it wasn't alive.
Sister came and then held us back. Mom got the broom and dustpan and took away my mouse that Georgie brought for show and tell.

Mom and the Schnauzers left me this morning! They went out the door and then they were gone!
I ran around the kitchen/dining/living room, whining. Sister let me go outside and she watched me to make sure I didn't try to leave the yard. I didn't. I ran around for a bit and then settled down under the lilac bush. Then she had me come inside because it was kind of raining.
I did settle down after awhile. Then Mom came home! Boy, was I glad to see her! We even went out to our weedy place and used the Chuck-It! We haven't done that for ever so long! It was great! And it wasn't too hot so I chased and chased the Chuck-It ball! Then we came back into the yard and played a little longer. I think that was mostly to help me clean off my feet. They got dirty out there in the weedy place.
After we came in, Mom and I did a little bit of "sit", "stay" and "down". I sure got worked up about those little bitty Charlee Bear treats I was getting. Yum!
Then the phone rang, Mom left and then the Schnauzers came back home. Their hair is shorter and they smell different. Drover acted like the tough guy. I think he does that to remind me I am at the bottom of the pack around here. That is ok with me. I am a happy guy.
But I sure did miss them. I really like having the pack around.

What just happened? Weird! I got in the shower with Mom! Not too weird pups, she had her clothes on. She got me all wet and put some smelly, foamy stuff on me. She rubbed me and when she did my feet she made me tip over. She told me she was sorry for that, she didn't mean to do that.
I stood very still. I wasn't sure what to do so that seemed best. She rinsed off the foamy stuff and rubbed me with a big towel. Then she released me out of the shower thing. She rubbed me some more and then asked Sister to let me go outside. She released me from the bathroom.
I ran around outside and then I even got to play fetch for awhile. I think I was air drying. Then it felt so good to roll in the grass.
I came back in the house and Mom put my collar back on me. I love it when Mom puts my collar on. I get real happy. Makes me feel like I belong or something.
All that action, time now for a nap.

I got a nice, new bed yesterday. Mom and Dad had been shopping someplace and when they got home Dad brought in some heavy sacks of something that he took downstairs. Mom carried in a big sack of our dog food(Yum!). Then she brought in my new bed.
It went in the same place as my old bed. She patted it and told me to try it out. Zoe tried it out. Zoe never even snoozes on the dog beds. She is a furniture snoozer.
Then later when we all had a chance to relax, Drover tried my new bed. And he tried it for a long time. Nearly until it was bedtime. Then I finally got to use my new bed.
It is big! Actually, all 3 of us could use it at the same time but we never would do that. It is nice and fluffy and soft.
I slept very soundly in my new bed last night.

Mom took the 2 Schnauzers away! And left me here with Dad.
I sure didn't like to seem them leaving and I was told to stay. I whined.
Dad is working outside today so I hung around out there in the yard. Then Mom came back! Without the Schnauzers! Weird.
But then things got real good.
First I got to go around with Mom while she turned off the water for the lawn sprinklers. To the side yard and even into the front yard. I really thought we were going out to play with the Chuck-It. But we came back into our yard, To Get My Chuck-It!!!
Yippee! We played and played without Drover barking at me from the yard! I was able to come back into the yard without the Schnauzers giving me the third degree. I got a big drink.
Now I am cooling off and resting on the dining room floor.
Good times!

I wonder when and if the Schnauzers are coming back.

It has been a really long time since I have gotten to go out into our weed pasture and play with my Chuck-It. But today it happened! Dad had rented a mower gadget the other day and used his tractor to mow down all the tall weeds. I got to go out with Mom once awhile back. The weeds were so tall it was hard for me to find the ball. But not today! The ball would fly through the air while I was running to get to the landing spot. The ball would bounce and I would grab it! Great fun!
We didn't stay out for long. Mom said we are both outta shape from not playing for so long. And it was sunny and hot. And I am a black, solar collector type dog. But any Chuck-It time is good time.
I got a good drink when I came back into the yard. Now it is time for a snooze in the living room.

I hope I have a good time!
Technically, it's my Gotcha Day! Yep, I have been in my home for one year. I think they are gonna keep me around. Even though I am not supposed to eat poop. And I have some kind of internal alarm that goes off at 4am and then at about 4:45am. Mom lets me outside at both of those times. She's nice like that.
I hope, hope, hope Mom and I can go play with the Chuck-It today! Our pasture is so full of tall weeds its hard for Mom to walk and its hard for me to find the ball so we haven't been playing out there like we used to. Maybe we can play in the yard. That would be good with me.
And maybe I will get some extra treats or a bite of hamburger that the folks are gonna have for supper.
This might be a pretty good Gotcha Day!

Don't take that title literally. Does your Mom have bionic ears like mine?
It was dark o'clock and I had some urka-gurka happening. In the living room. On the new carpet.
Mom came flying, well, ok, so she walked fast, out of her bedroom. I mean, we do have a small house but wasn't she asleep back there? Maybe Moms don't really sleep. They must lay there waiting and listening. Mom admits she has a sound fetish. She has the need to identify all sounds in the house.
She knew the urka-gurka sound right away. She came out and walked very carefully, staring at the floor. She eased her way to the door. I urka-ed again. She had me go outside.
I felt better after being outside for a few minutes. Mom must have cleaned up the spots while I was outside. I went back to bed. Even though it was early, Mom stayed up. Probably to keep an eye on me. Maybe a bionic eye.

As you can see in one of my photos, I got a new antler chew! Pups, I do recommend them! They are long-lasting and full of healthy stuff, you know, big word healthy stuff. You can get your pawrents to google it if you are really into that sort of thing. Me, I just chew the antlers because they are so good!
My antler came in the mail. Mom opened a box and there they were. Five nice antler pieces, one for each of us dogs, plus an extra. The little Zoe dog spends her time gathering them all up. Well, she takes Drover's antler and she stares at me and then takes my antler. She doesn't take Cindy's antler. But Mom is fair and hollers at Zoe and makes sure Drover and I have antlers.

Mom wants me to bark if you are interested in getting your very own antler you can find them to buy on ebay or some online pet stores carry them. Amazon.com has them too. Yes, they seem pricey, heck they are pricey. But they last a long time, seriously. I am barking months. We have one old chunk that Brother and Dad brought home from a hunting trip several years ago. That's another way to get antlers, go look for yours in the forest! Some places this is becoming illegal so check before "horn hunting", that's what the peeps call it around here.
If your pawrents decide to get you some, there are different sizes available. If you are a bigger size dog, get bigger sized antlers. They could pose a choking hazard and I want you to be safe.
Happy chewing!

When I first came here I barked about stuff I had learned. I need to bark some more about stuff I have learned over the past months. A young dog can still learn a few things.

1. I have learned, from Drover, to go into the shower and get a nice drink of water from the shower floor.

2. From watching the other dogs I have learned what a Dog Bed is used for. I no longer sleep on the floor at night. I sleep on a Dog Bed, whichever one Cindy isn't using.

3. I have learned, from Cindy, to run at the horses next to the fence. That will usually get the horses to run. Fun!

4. I have learned from Zoe and Drover how to have fun with squeaky toys. More fun!

5. I have learned from Zoe to lay down under Mom and Brother's chairs when they are eating. I don't know why we do that, we don't get table scraps. But it is nice there.

6. I have learned to be nice to the garage kitty cats. They come out to meet me when I play with Mom and the Chuck-It. But on the other paw, I have learned, from Drover, to chase them if they happen to venture into the yard. We both get hollered at when we do that.

7. I have learned to play tug-o-war with Zoe. I am gentle with her but I could drag her all over the house!

8. I have learned to hunt for tasty treats in our yard. Mom isn't too pleased with me when I have been hunting. I seem to get something she calls "silent but deadly". I like to lay at her feet and she makes my one syllable name turn into about four syllables when I let loose. "Tuuuuuxxxxxx, ewwwww!"

9. I have learned to stick with Zoe. She knows that when we come inside and sit nice next to the pantry will we usually get a nice cookie. She is one smart pup!

10. I have learned not to be so jumpy with every little noise or movement. I am learning to relax! I can still have my "on" button pushed and I will spring into action.

I will be sure to keep you updated on anything else. Learning is fun!

We haven't had too much snow this winter. But we've had enough and it's stayed cold. The pastures all around us are snow covered. The pasture where Mom and I play with my Chuck-It is snow covered. Our drive way is an ice skating rink.
But in our backyard, where we all hang out and do our outside "chores", there is hardly any snow left! What happened to it?
Ok, I admit it. Cindy and I like to eat the snow. We chomp it and get great mouthfuls of the snowy, crunchy goodness.
I can't believe we ate the whole back yard though. We must have addictions.
Is there a 12-step program for eating snow?

Brother and I go out to the snowy pasture with the Chuck-it. I will run after the ball, once. Then I start wandering around, sniffing, peeing, sniffing. Not playing with the Chuck-It. Brother has to retrieve the ball.
We come back to the yard pretty quick.
Later, Mom and I go out to the very same place. I could play and play with the Chuck-it. It is wonderful!

I have been a tennis ball fetching kind of dog since I came to live here last summer. Throw a tennis ball for me and I am one happy dog. You can throw the tennis ball with your hand. You can use the Chuck-It for longer range. It doesn't matter to me. The object of the game is for me to run after the tennis ball and bring it back to you for another go round.
Recently, I have discovered Toys. There are a couple of baskets full of squeaky toys in our living room. The Schnauzers love to play with the toys. They play everyday. We have a playtime in the morning. The Schnauzers play with their toys while someone throws an egg ball down the hall for me to retrieve. I have found that I like to play with the toys too. We have a big white lamb (thank you, Jelly) that I will grab. I shake that lamb and frolic and frisk in the living room. Sometimes I throw the lamb into the air and pounce on it.
A couple of days ago there were two dragons that arrived in the mail. Thank you again Jelly. They are soft but tough toys. I was playing tug of war with Drover for awhile. Then I sometimes use the dragon toys like I play with the lamb. Shake, throw, pounce.
These are games I play by myself. Mom just watches me. She smiles and laughs. She tells me I look so happy and I look like a puppy playing.
Playing is good. Making Mom laugh is good too.

Mom and I went outside to try them out. I am good at my game and they were pretty easy for me to fetch! Even with the erratic bounce, I was right there.
I recommend them to my pals who are BO (ball obsessed)! For a change of pace from our every popular tennis balls try one!

Today the score was Mom - one point.
Me - a lot. I am a dog and I don't really know how to count. But I found that tennis ball every time except one. I even took a potty break with the ball. I put the ball down, did my doodie and had to pick up the ball really close to the poop!

Mom is beginning to think I have eyes on the Top of my head! Or maybe I have super duper peripheral vision. Here's the deal.
When we go out to our pasture with the Chuck It, Mom can make that tennis ball fly. She usually winds up having it fly to the same spot. Over and over. I get used to the ball going to a certain spot. I always start to run before Mom has even sent the ball flying. Every now and then, the tennis ball will go to a different spot. I will be running to the usual spot but somehow I know to turn to the new spot. The ball will still be way up in the air but somehow I know it is heading to a different place.
Can I see the ball way up there? Are my eyes rolled up to the top of my head? Or can I hear the ball up there?
How do I do that?

Let me explain.
You see, I was outside, just me and Mom, playing with the Chuck It. Have I mentioned that I Love that thing? Well, I love that Chuck It! Since it was just me and Mom, two of the garage kitties came over the gate to visit. They aren't afraid of me. Drover chases them so they don't usually come into the yard. Scooter was more shy. She only wanted Mom to pet her. But the white Pearl cat was extra friendly. She wanted petted and petted.
I just wanted Mom to use the Chuck It. I was really not paying attention to the kitty cats. I just focus on the tennis ball at the end of the Chuck It.
Pearl started to focus on the Chuck It too. Mom started using it as a back scratcher for Pearl. Pearl was sure enjoying that. She even rubbed her face on the tennis ball end of the Chuck It.
Now I love the Chuck It and it seemed like Pearl loved the Chuck It. Her little kitty cat face was starting to smell like Chuck It. So I kissed her. I gave her face a couple of quick little licks. You know, to get more of the Chuck It essence, with a little bit of kitty cat whisker mixed in.
I know, some of you will be shocked at my kitty kissing antics. I hope we can still be pals. Please don't think less of me.

Freedom! I ran around like a crazy dog! Don't worry, we only have to walk a little ways on the road then we are in the field where I can run and sniff and pee.
Mom brought along my Chuck It and she and Dad took turns throwing that tennis ball a long ways. I would run to find the ball and then I would bring it back for another turn.
Then we walked on the little road along the ditch. I was allowed to go way ahead of the others. Mom and Dad would call to me to come and I always did! We turned around at the gate down there. When we got back to the field, I got to chase the tennis ball again.
What a great way to take a walk, with a Chuck It!

Well, without music. We play the game during dark o'clock times. Us doggies have lots of bed choices around here. I have just recently found one of the beds is very comfy and it's ok if I sleep on it! Who would've thunk? I used to just sleep on the floor.
Sometimes Drover naps on the couch. Sometimes in the evenings he naps on that same bed that I like. But when it is bedtime, Drover gets covered up in a bed in Mom's bedroom. I like to sleep on the comfy bed. It is in the living room. Sometimes Cindy sleeps on that bed but she also uses a smaller bed under a table in the living room. She is bigger than the bed and sometimes she hangs out of the bed. Sometimes she is able to get herself all tucked into the bed though. There is a cover beside Mom's bed. I used to sleep there. Now sometimes Cindy will get on that cover during the night. I will sometimes sleep on that cover during the night. If Cindy is already on the cover I might sleep on the floor next to Cindy. Or if I happen to be on the cover, Cindy might sleep on the floor next to me. Mom moved the living room furniture a little bit yesterday. Now the comfy bed is in another spot. Drover napped in it and I slept in it last night. Cindy napped on the floor where the comfy bed used to be. Zoe sleeps on the big bed with the pawrent's. No one else sleeps up there. There is no telling how the musical bed game will turn out when it is time to get up. I am not sure how my typist knows all of this goes on during the night. I am just glad she lets me outside to potty.
Aren't you glad I used some punctuation?

Dad got all decked out yesterday. In the house he put on some different kind of boots than he usually wears. He put on his new jacket and his sunglasses were sitting on his warm hat on top of his head. He headed out and put long skinny boards on his boots. They just stuck right on those boots. He picked up some sticks and stuck his gloved hands through some loops at the end of the sticks. He invited me to go out the gate and around into our rocky pasture. That is where I get to play with the Chuck-It so I was very agreeable with going along with Dad.
Turns out, he didn't take the Chuck-It out there. He wanted me to follow him while he had those boards on his boots. He would move one board forward and kinda slide. Then he would push that board forward and slide. He was gliding over the little bit of snow that we have. I didn't have to follow too closely. I was able to sniff around some. When he got way out back in the corner I just didn't see the need to go way over there. A dog would have to turn around and come back so I stayed closer to the barn. Dad called to me but I only came about half way to him. Then the two little dogs came out to the fence and barked at me. It sure didn't look like Dad was going to play with the Chuck-It with me. I figured it was time to go inside about then. I went back to our yard gate.
Mom came out and let me into the yard. Zoe and Drover were mad at me. I guess because I was outside the wire, so to speak. Mom kept them from getting at me and tearing me to bits.
Zoe reported that Dad then went across the road on his boards. She watched him from her sentry post on back of the couch. He was gone quite awhile. He went around and around a bigger field over there. I think I could have gone with him, if I had wanted to. I didn't want to.

On another note, Mom hasn't tried to contact the shelter lady about my mystery leg surgery yet but I am developing an X shaped scar on the spot. I already had one scar from the previous injury, now the place where the bump was removed is going to be right over the old scar.
Kinda cool, huh?

Oh, Zoe says to tell you I got *some* shake. Don't let the diary title scare you.
The human sister needed to go to town and she brought back sacks of food and a cup holder with four cups. Zoe told me to pay attention to those cups. I had no idea what was going on but I obey Zoe. She is very bossy.
After the family ate the food that came out of those sacks Mom sat on the couch with her cup. Zoe told me to sit at Mom's feet and look cute. We waited, being cute.
I finally found out why we were waiting, being cute. Mom scooped a little bit of the shake and gave it to Zoe on a plastic spoon. The shake was on the spoon not Zoe. Then Mom scraped a little more of the shake and gave me the spoon. She did the same for Drover. We each got several little licks from the spoon. That shake stuff is super nom! Then something sad happened. Mom said the shake was all gone. She set the cup on the table. I figured I would still work the cute angle. I put my head on her knees and tilted my head to one side. She laughed. I tilted my head to the other side. She laughed again.
I didn't get anymore shake. I turned off the cute.
I hope I can get the shakes again someday!

Good news! Mom Did come and get me from the vet clinic yesterday! I will get to spend Christmas with my family! Thanks for the encouraging words you sent. I am just not very self confident and was kinda worried when we took that ride and Mom left me.
Anywho, I am a walking mystery! Let me tell you what I can.
The vet tech lady brought me out into the waiting area and there was Mom! I was happy to see her. Let's get outa here now! But I had to sit and wait while the vet talked to Mom.
He explained what he would have done to remove my bump. He would go in and kinda scoop it out. They shaved an area on my hip and found an old scar where I had work done before! And while he was scooping the bump out, he ran into something already in there! Without taking a "scope" he had to guess at what it was. He thinks I have a pin in my hip. I am not barking about what might have happened. If I ever have any trouble with my leg we will talk to the vet about it.
So we came home. I rode in the passenger side floor of the truck so I could be close to Mom. I got out of the truck when we pulled into the garage. I couldn't make it any farther than the fence. I had to go! And I went and went and went! Then I came into the yard. Luckily Drover was inside the house or he probably would've been mad at me. He was mad at me when I came into the house. I don't know what I do that gets him so mad.
In a little while we all went outside. I wanted to play fetch but Mom didn't want me to run! Later, I started getting stiff and it was hurty.
I have some little pink pills to ward off infection and Mom has given me some pain killer. It was a rough night because I sure wanted to lick my stitches. They sprayed on some yucky bitter stuff and Mom is probably going to get me a special collar today.
Mom is thinking the only way to find out about my mysterious previous "work" is to contact the shelter people and find out if they have my previous owner's name and phone number. She will probably do that after Christmas.
For now, we will live with my mystery!

Through the mystery of wireless internet I am writing to you from the vet clinic.
Remember my bump that I got checked out last week? I am having it removed today.
I didn't get any breakfast this morning. Mom tightened my collar. Brother, Mom and I went out the door and out the gate. Our garage is a scary place so I didn't want to go in there. Mom went in and was calling me. I went around the front of the house and around to the other gate. I could see Mom by the garage. She was calling me. Then I heard her calling me and I came around the front. By then she was able to put the leash on me. My collar wasn't tight enough. I slipped out of it. We went into our yard. Mom tightened my collar more. Just enough so my eyes wouldn't bug out. Collar on, check. Leash on, check. Out the gate into the garage. I didn't want to get into the truck so Mom lifted me in. Off we went. I rode real well. I even went into the vet clinic without digging my claws into the sidewalk. I waited awhile while Mom filled out some paperwork. Then we visited with a big kitty cat in a cage. He was a stray cat and now he needs a good home. He was a very friendly cat.
Then the worker lady took my leash and I was forced into another room. Mom left. Very scary.
I will report more later. I hope Mom remembers to come and get me. I would like to spend Christmas with my family.

Mom just took an online behavior test for me. I'm a deputy.
This fits me pretty well!

Your Canine Behavior Type Index is
OGH - Deputy

Your dog is an Organized, Gamma and High Activity type which we call the Deputy. The Deputy is a submissive, mouldable, balanced character. It happily does the leader's bidding, is easily led and controlled but prefers an orderly environment. The Deputy conforms to its leader's wishes most readily. Deputies are easy to train, willing to conform socially and team spirited. They are everybody's friend.

Your pawrent can take the test for you too.

We had been playing outside. Everything was good. Then it was time to come in. I guess I should have remembered to go outside.
A little while after being inside, I hiked my leg on the corner of our toy basket. Mom saw the whole thing. Mom told me to stop, I was a bad boy. I was rushed out the door.
I had to stay outside for awhile while Mom cleaned up the pee.

I'm ok!
But I think I have mentioned that I have a bump thing on my left hip. The lady house call vet has looked at it. Told Mom to watch it. Mom has been watching it. She kinda thought it might be a little bigger. Mom is beginning to question some of the info from the house call vet so we went to a clinic in town. I rode fine in the back seat of the truck even though I didn't "load up". I went into the vet clinic ok. I shivered while we waited. They weighed me, I am 41 pounds. Didn't like getting in that corral thing, Mom had to shove me. Mom lifted me onto the exam table. They poked something in my rear. Mom told the lady when I had been neutered and had my shots.
The vet came in and squeezed my bump. He told my Mom it was some big long hema something or other. He didn't know what might have caused it but they could sure take it off. They could have it tested for anything bad. While the vet was sitting on his little stool talking to Mom, I tooted. It was a very potent toot. The vet moved away from my rear end.
So anywho, I go back to the vet on Monday. No breakfast! But I will be able to come home Monday afternoon.
I was in a hurry to get out of the clinic. I kinda got tangled around the porch stuff and I still didn't want to "load up" like Mom wanted me to. She had to stuff me in the truck again. I tooted again on the ride home.
Drover got really mad at me when I came into the yard. But I am safe and sound now.
I will let you know if I survive my next vet visit.

I got to play with the Chuck-It again! This has got to be the greatest toy invented for a BO dog like me. If you have the space, I really recommend a Chuck-It.
Mom and I went out to our pasture place again. I quickly learned about the Chuck-It and headed to the yard gate when Mom had the Chuck-It in her hand. I raced around the garage and even found some kitty poop on the snow. Mom told me drop it though. Oh well, on to play!
We had just walked though the gate and Mom, well, chucked-it! bol
Then we went around the barn so that Drover couldn't see us so well. He barks up a storm when Mom and I are out there. Mom was having problems getting the tennis ball to fly very far. She wasn't getting the arm action needed. Then Brother came out to give it a try. I will tell you what, if you can get a teen-age boy to chuck-it, you have got it made! The ball was going farther, further, farther, whatever, than ever! Mom and Brother kept backing up so that the ball wouldn't go to the road it was going that far.
That was so much fun! Over and over he would let that Chuck-It do it's thing. I was running like the wind! Mom noticed my back legs were quivering like jelly. She didn't want me to overdo so we had a couple of more turns and then we came in. I got to carry the ball in my mouth until we got to the side of the garage.
Remember how Drover barks at us? Well, for some reason he gets very upset with me. He comes after me! He doesn't bite but he sure sounds tough. He is a Terrorier after all. Mom doesn't know what to do about Drover. She just tries to keep him off of me. I got myself wedged between Mom's legs for awhile so she could protect me from him.
Hmm, maybe Drover would like to play with a Chuck-It ball too. Mom has two arms. She could Chuck-It for me and Chuck-It for Drover. Hmm. Let me think on this. I may suggest it to Mom.

Life if good! I got an early Christmas present today. This is a perfect toy for a BO (ball obsessed) dog like me.
Chuck-It is a toy that will lob a tennis ball for, well, a lot farther than Mom can usually throw. We went out into our rocky pasture place. Mom chucked the tennis ball with the Chuck-It and off I went to retrieve! Over and over and over. I didn't want to stop! But Mom calls the shots and she said we could go out tomorrow and play again. See, we can't even play with the Chuck-It in our yard because of how far the ball flys!
I highly recommend your pawrents check out the Chuck-It if you are a BO dog like me! It would make a perfect Christmas gift!

I forgot to mention that your person doesn't have to handle the slimy tennis ball. The Chuck-It picks up the ball and you are ready to go again!

I sleep on some soft covers right next to Mom's side of the bed. Mom and Dad sleep on a special bed called a number bed. Mom can adjust her side of the bed with a control that hangs off the side of the bed. She adjusts it according to the softness or hardness she wants.
Sometime during the night I must have turned over or re-adjusted myself. I bumped the control and Mom's mattress started deflating. She woke up before she had sunk to the floor.

You know I love to fetch a tennis ball. But that is an outside game. If I try to bring in a tennis ball it gets tossed back out.
We have these little soft, squeaky egg shaped balls. These are great for inside fetch. I have trained the whole family to throw the egg balls down the hall for me to retrieve!
I get one egg ball and drop it someone's feet. I do the mind trick thing and they pick up the ball and throw it down the hall for me. We do this over and over. Dad can get a good bounce off the wall and that makes the ball go even farther.
A couple of things don't work. The Ellie cat likes to snooze on the arm of the couch. The other night I dropped the ball in front of where she was napping. Looked at the ball. Looked at Ellie. Mind trick did not work on her. She just kept napping.
The other deal that works part of the time is when Mom is on the couch. She will throw the ball for me. She's not very good at aiming down the hall, but, hey, it is still a game of fetch. Today though, her eyes closed while I was playing. After awhile she stopped throwing the egg ball. I put the ball next to her hand. Nothing. I put the ball in her lap. Nothing. I kept trying this but it was just not happening.
Next time I play I need to remember the inside fetch game works best with a person, not a kitty cat. That person should be awake.

Mom and Brother were doing odd jobs outside this afternoon. Then we played with Mom a little bit. Zoe started shivering so Mom let us go in. She called for me to come back outside. I went into scared mode. I dunno why. She was able to get me by the collar because I wouldn't come to her. We went back outside. She grabbed a tennis ball.
OK! I am getting this now. Just me and Mom tennis ball time! This will be good! Drover won't be chasing me and grabbing at my neck!
But Mom walked to the gate. She called me to come with her! No leash!
Woo hoo! We went around the garage and through the walk-through gate into our rocky "pasture". There are tons of things to sniff out there. I sniffed for a minute and then Mom threw the tennis ball.
Forget the smells to sniff. I am ready for a game of fetch!
Back and forth, back and forth I would run after that ball. I would bring it back to Mom. She tried to trick me sometimes by throwing it the opposite direction. Or maybe it was just a bad throw. I dunno, but it was all good!
I can run like the wind, like the little Zaidie Pup guy! Then we kinda wandered around and I was able to sniff and pee. One of our garage cats came out but I was more interested in fetching that tennis ball.
After awhile we headed back through the gate and around the garage. There I met another of the garage cats. I kinda wanted to sniff her but Mom told me not to. No problem. When are you gonna throw that tennis ball in your hand Mom?
We came back into the yard and Mom told me we should go in.
Fun! I sure hope we can go play fetch out there again real soon!

There is another dog that comes around here. His name is Notme. He does bad stuff like potty inside! Well, he was at our house during the night. He pooped upstairs in the hall and downstairs on the concrete floor. Pretty disgusting, I know. He has been coming around lately and pooping, always downstairs. No one ever sees him being naughty. We have no idea when he does the evil deeds.
I was sniffing around in the hallway. Mom saw me. She looked at where I was sniffing. Sure enough, Notme had peed on the wall! This is where the crime scene investigation kicks in. It wasn't fresh, it was dried. But I smelled it and Mom could barely see a faint shadow on the beige-ish yellow wall. We looked around and sure thing, there were a couple of other places where the deed had been done. Now, we don't have a fancy DNA testing kit but Mom did spray some stuff on the bad places. I think that was supposed to remove the scent. Then Mom and Brother set up our surveillance area.
For one thing we have blocked off access to the basement. Mom set up a baby gate. Tonight the little Zoe Dog and I will watch and wait for Notme. We will sleep in our crates tonight. Between the two of us, if Notme comes in the house we will set off the alarm. Well, I probably won't bark. I will wake Sergeant Zoe and let her take over.
I'll let you know if we catch that Notme.

Someone pulled into the drive today. The person took a couple of plastic carrier things out of the back of her vehicle. She went around to the front of the house. The Schnauzers and I were outside to observe this.
In awhile, I got invited into the house. Cindy came out and the Schnauzers had to stay out.
There was a scary lady in our house. Mom was there, talking to me, telling me everything was fine. It's just my way, I am scared of lots of stuff. Mom made me sit down and then lay down on the floor. The scary woman talked nice to me and touched a bump I have had on my left rear leg. I was still scared but she didn't hurt me. She told Mom she didn't know what my bump was but didn't think it was the C word since I am just over a year old. Mom is supposed to keep an eye on the bump and call this scary vet lady if the bump changes or gets oozy or something.
Dad showed the scary vet lady how I have a ring of white hairs around my neck. They both think I had a chain around my neck at my first home. Kinda like horses get saddle sores, you know. From constant rubbing or injury the sore places grow white hair.
I don't know why I am so spooked by people and noises. The Schnauzers were allowed in and they weren't scared of the vet lady at all.
Don't take it personal but if you ever come to visit, I will be scared of your pawrents.

Intruder Alert!

I barked. We all barked. Mom looked out to see what in the world was happening. She saw the tail end of a dog going into our walk-through garage door. We were barking up a storm on the other side of the fence.
That was not right! That was our garage. We were not expecting any dog today. Only our garage cats come and go using that door.
Mom came out. We kept barking. Mom went into the garage. We could barely hear her talking to that dog over our barking. Then she closed the door. We quit barking.
Pretty soon, she came out, with the dog following her. We started up our barking barrage again. The dog ducked back into the garage. Mom closed the walk through door with the dog still inside. She made us go in the house. We didn't really want to. We had a real situation here that needed attention. We can't do our policing jobs from inside the house.
But we finally managed to hear Mom calling us and we went inside and had cookies.
Mom went back outside without us. We got to go out in a few minutes. We barked at the garage again but the dog was gone.
Mom filled us in on what happened inside the garage.
He was a friendly Australian Shepherd type boy. Probably just a large puppy. Mom adjusted his too tight collar. No tags of course. Not neutered of course. She brushed out some cockleburrs from his fur. She offered him some of the cat food and water that is out there. He was a friendly dog. She opened the garage door to let him go. He wandered around for a couple of minutes and then took off down the road. She saw him later across the field heading to a neighbor's house. Maybe he belongs over there. We haven't seen him again today.
I haven't needed to bark again today. But if the need arises, I can and do bark!

Usually Drover will let me play fetch. Every now and then he usually comes after me. He gets that terrier thing going and attacks me while I am playing. But last night he was so busy playing that Jolly Ball Keep Away game, which I totally don't understand, that he didn't bother me. For hours, seemed like, Mom and I played.

In no particular order I would like to present you with my talents. Now keep in mind, I am not an alpha dog. I am not a registered show dog. My purpose is to get you thinking about your own gifts or talents. Yeah, we got 'em.

1. I am a fetching fool. Anytime, morning, noon or night I am up for a good game of fetch.

2. I always eat my breakfast. I clean the bowl. I am not a picky eater. I wish I could have more.

3. I don't bark unnecessarily. I don't bark much at all. I might go days without barking. I just don't have much to bark about.

4. I get along with every pup. Even when Drover acts all mad and tough. I turn the other cheek.

5. I have my own comfy covers right next to Mom's side of the bed. I go there when it is bedtime.

6. I go downstairs with Mom while she does her cardio workout every morning. I wait for her and when she is done, I go outside and poop. That makes her happy.

7. I sniffed out a mouse in our woodpile by the backdoor. Dad got it out and "took care" of it. But I alerted Mom to it's presence.

8. I can curl myself into a small ball while napping. Sister dubbed it "The Tux Tuck".

9. I have a cute happy run. Mom gets a kick out of it. She tells me I must have been a cute puppy. *blush*

10. I have used, with great success, the Jedi mind trick on the whole family. They will all toss the tennis ball for me. See number 1.

Think about your own talents.
Be happy in who you are.

Did I scare ya? Yeah, I got out of my fenced yard. On Mom's invitation.
The little yappy dogs were inside. I had just had a nail trimming and a nice relaxing brushing outside. Mom got up from her spot in the lawn where she was working on me. It was time to go move sprinklers around.
I got invited out of the yard gate! Woo-hoo! Freedom! I romped in the driveway. Mom called me to her. I obeyed.
Then she invited me around the garage. There is a walk through gate and we walked through! One of the outside cats got all puffed up when he saw me but I didn't' pay him any attention. I got to run around in our weedy pasture area. I have seen Dad, Mom and the Brother out there but I have never been out there. Sometimes the Zoe dog gets to be out there with Dad.
Wow, I could run all over. It was great. Mom would call me and I would come right back to her. That made her happy, she had a big smile on her face. Then the Schnauzers were on the other side of the fence barking at me! I just ran and frolicked around. I got to check out some birds in a pen. Mom called them turkeys. Some of them said "gobble, gobble, gobble". I then got to go into the barn. It was kinda dark in there but there were interesting smells. Then Mom called me and we both went back through the gate. I beat Mom to the yard gate and Drover was right there. He was mad at me. Maybe he was jealous, I don't know.
It was a bunch of fun out there.

Who woulda thunk a little labbie dog like me would be tapped as a guest lecturer? Well, it happened!
I am a student in Professor Chester\'s Canine Life Skills class. You can take a look at our previous classes.
He asked me to bark on my favorite thing in the whole wide world.
Here is my lecture. You can see my demonstration video on my page.

I Fetch Like a Fool and I Feel Fine!

Now, most dogs probably have a "fetch drive". If they don't, they probably had something traumatic happen to them when they were puppies. Maybe they were dropped on their heads or something. I don't know.
There are lots of different things we use when we fetch. You might prefer Frisbees. Some professional type dogs might use training decoys. If you are on a budget or out hiking you can grab a stick. Some dogs might fetch small children or kitty cats. I wouldn't recommend those last two items. Myself, I admit it. I have B.O.
Ball Obsession!
There are many different kinds of balls available. Round balls. Flat balls. Smooth balls. Fuzzy balls. My ball of choice is an inexpensive tennis ball. They are light enough for a person to lob for you. I don't think a bowling ball would make a good choice for fetching. You wouldn't want someone to get hurt. That would end the game real fast.
Let's get right to technique because it is so important. You see, you have to train your person how to play!
What is a game of fetch if there is no one to throw the ball for you? Right, boor-ring.
So here we go.
You get your stick or ball or what have you. You find an accommodating, playful person. Now get this, it is important. You lay the ball within their reach. We don't want this to become a game of tug-o-war. And if your person has to walk any distance to pick up the ball, we are defeating the purpose of the game. *We* are to fetch, the person doesn't want to have to fetch the ball. Your person may say something like "drop it" or "release". Whatever they say be sure you place the ball within their reach. They will soon learn that you want them to throw the ball. Most humans pick up on this very quickly.
Here is where it gets exciting! As soon as they throw the ball or frisbee, you run, run, run! Go get it! Run like the dog catcher is after you!
You might work on catching the ball in mid-air but I caution you. I know of dogs who have injured themselves this way. You don't want the game to end due to a trip to the emergency vet.
I prefer to catch the ball as it rolls along the ground. Watch out for obstacles. You might have your eye on the ball and run smack dab into a tree!
When you have the ball firmly in your mouth, return to the person playing with you. Repeat the "drop it" near their feet. I have found most people lazy in this regard. They want you to bring the ball right to them. They don't want to walk to you. The game will continue much more quickly if you put the ball at their feet. They will soon catch on that you want them to throw the ball again.
Throw, chase, retrieve, return, repeat. Repeat and repeat as long as the daylight lasts and you can still see the ball or the person has to go ice their arm, whichever comes first.
It is good to take a break every now and then. Please keep hydrated!
You can even play your fetch game inside. I use a soft egg shaped squeaky ball. Nothing gets broken when Mom, who does throw like a girl, plays with me inside.

There you have it. That is it in a nutshell.
I Fetch Like a Fool and I Feel Fine!

It went invisible! Really! Mom gave it a good throw and I couldn't find that ball anywhere. Mom came over to the lilacs where I was searching. She even looked in the neighbor's pasture. Not there. She looked all around the base of the shrubs. Not there.
No problem Mom, I'll go get another tennis ball and we can keep playing.
While I found another, suddenly the invisible ball appeared. Mom called to me and she had it in her hand!
I have never known a tennis ball to go invisible! I hope they don't make a habit of doing that.

I like my crate. I will happily go into my crate when it is bedtime. The little Schnauzer dogs like their crates too. We must feel safe and secure in our "dens".
My crate has been near the woodstove ever since I moved here. One of these mornings that woodstove will be put to use and I would be way too close. Mom moved my crate yesterday. She moved it way over in the dining area. I checked it out while the peeps were eating dinner. It was fine, the door was open and I could come and go.
Not so fine when it was time for bed. My crate hadn't been put back in the usual spot. Mom called me over to the new spot. Ok, I went in and she closed the door. I started whining. And I kept whining.
Mom caught me during a quiet time and let me out, out to make a tinkle trip. That wasn't the problem. I came back in and had to find my crate again. Found it and went in. Mom closed the door.
Uh-oh. Lights out. That meant Mom was going to bed. I kept whining. I guess I am not too good with "change".
Mom caught me mid-whine and let me out. All night! I had Freedom to sleep where I wanted! Mom went back to bed.
First I settled down in the living room. I never get on the furniture and I don't use any of the dog beds that are scattered around. Then I realized Mom might want me to keep her company. I went back to the bedroom to Mom's side of the bed. She patted me and told me to lay down. I did. I stayed there for quite awhile then I got restless. Mom let me go outside. Had to "go". I came back in and settled down again by Mom's bed. I got restless again but Mom didn't let me go outside that time. She told me, "Tux, it is 5:30, we can sleep in today." So I settled down for awhile more. Finally, it was really time to get up and have breakfast.
I just love my freedom. I am a good boy, Mom told me so. I hope I get my freedom again tonight!

These are just a few of the things that scare me and make me jump. Mom hopes I can eventually get over my fears. She wonders what happened to me to make me so scared.

The flyswatter while someone is taking aim at a fly, especially if they hold it up above their head.

Sudden little noises like paper crumpling.

I am getting used to Dad but Brother is still scary. Real scary this morning when he had on an all black outfit to go running. His pants are very scary. They make a scary noise when he walks. Brother is very kind to all of us here but, yikes, those pants and when he is standing! Come to my house and you will see how scary he is!

Since I came to this home, I have only been outside the fenced yard while I am on a leash to go for a walk.
We all *stay* nicely when the gate is open as people or the mower or something else goes through. We are cool. We have a very nice yard to run and play and relax in. I have never tried to escape.
I bet you are thinking I am going to say I did try to escape. I did get outside the wire. Mom invited me!
I was the only dog outside at the time. Mom needed to move the lawn sprinklers around near the driveway. She invited me to go out the gate with her! She stepped outside the gate and waited. I stayed very close to her. She started to walk to the sprinkler to move it, I got to sniff around.
It was fun! She let me sniff around. She called to me and I came right back to her. She gave me some good tummy rubbing and told me I was a good boy. I got to sniff around some more. Each time she would call me I would come back to her. She was very proud of me.
The little Zoe dog gets to go outside the wire with Dad. I am glad to know that Mom trusts me to stick close.

It was a day just like any other day. Things were going fine. Ate breakfast. Went outside. Checked out the yard. Tried the Jedi Mind Trick with Mom.
Came inside. Went outside when Cindy or Zoe barked. Ran to the fence when Cindy started barking at a horse. Tried the Mind Trick again and this time it worked for a few throws.
Things went terribly scary this afternoon.
A big delivery truck pulled in our driveway. The other dogs started barking. I started to panic. Zoe and Drover were asked to go into their crates. They did.
Mom wanted me to go into my crate. I ran around the house like a crazed, well, dog. Brother tried to get me to go into my crate. No deal. Around I ran. Brother went outside to talk to the delivery truck men. Mom cornered me by the back door and was able to grab my collar. I finally zoomed into my crate, pulling the door closed behind me. Well, Mom closed it and that made me feel better.
Then I could see one man come in the back door. Mom, Brother and the man went downstairs. I could hear them talking and soon they came back upstairs. I was being very quiet in my crate but Drover was barking like crazy.
Then two men came in with a new freezer. Downstairs they went. Soon upstairs they came with our old freezer. This must have been fine with Mom. They weren't robbing us or anything. Drover still barked.
We stayed in our crates until we heard the truck pulling away. I ran downstairs, once, to see what the deal was down there. Mom and Brother were doing something down there, but it was kinda scary so I came back upstairs. I waited for them at the top of the stairs.
Why did this send me into a panic? Mom really doesn't know what to do to help me.

I have been learning a lot of stuff around here since I got to my new home. I have barked about the things I have learned in other diary entries so I won't cover those again.
But I am also Teaching the Schnauzers a thing or two.
Yep, I am teaching them how to play with tennis balls. I love to have someone throw the tennis ball for me. I run to catch it. I bring the ball back in hopes the person will throw it again. The two Schnauzers are starting to play with the tennis balls too. They will run after them and bring them back. They aren't very good at "release" or "drop it" yet. They are still learning.
I am also planning on teaching them something special. If you are familiar with the Star Wars movies you will know of the Jedi Force Suggestion or Jedi Mind Trick. Here is how I use that. I look at a tennis ball that is within reach. I look at the person that is closest. I look at the tennis ball again. I look at the person again. I can usually get the trick to work. The person will reach down, grab the ball and throw it for me to retrieve! It usually works, unless Mom has her hands full of the laundry basket, groceries or gardening tools. It sometimes works when she in on pooper scooper patrol and has the tools in her hands!
Hey! Maybe you can try the Jedi Mind Trick on a person to get them to play or give you treats!

Up until this morning, I was usually seen Velcro-ed to Mom. As Drover has told you, she is a fascinating woman. I like to follow her all around.
Something changed this morning. All of us dogs went for a walk and Dad walked me. I pulled on the leash some. He would talk to me and I would stop pulling. I walked pretty nicely most of the time. He told me I was doing good when I didn't pull.
So when we got home, Dad brushed the little Zoe-dog. That looked nice. That looked like it would feel good. So I hung around. I even got in the way a time or two. Dad took the hint. When he was done brushing Zoe, I got a turn at the spa! bol
That sure felt good! I had a lot of undercoat that he brushed off. Now Mom has brushed me before. But this sure felt nice being brushed by Dad.
With the walk and the spa treatment, me and Dad are buddies now.

I don't know what came over me today. It was a scary day. I was real jumpy and every little sound made me twitch.
There was one time I was laying in the living room and Brother came out of his room. He really scared me and I fell/ran down the stairs. He didn't even say anything to make me jump.
Mom thinks maybe it was the wind blowing that made me nervous. It was real windy and that made new noises that I haven't heard before, or had a chance to get used to.
Maybe that was it, maybe it was something else.

I like to play fight with the little Zoe-dog. She can fit under Mom's chair at the desk. We play fight while she is under there. She sometimes gets under the desk where people feet fit.
I must be shrinking because I found out I could fit my head under the chair. Then almost all of my body fit under the chair. Now all of me fits under the desk where Mom's legs and feet are.

I know that is a shocking title isn't it? Well, I should say Mom tapped me.
Let me explain what happened.
We had all been outside. Mom was taking down the clean laundry from the line. We all came in and Mom noticed a fly had come in with us. This wasn't a common housefly. She could have chased that kind of fly down with a swatter. This was a deerfly, they have a painful bite.
This deerfly sat down on my left hip. He didn't move. Mom put down the basket of laundry. She didn't want to hit me, but she didn't want me to be bitten by that ornery fly. So she hit me, well, she tapped me where that fly was sitting. Just enough to drop him to the floor. She grabbed a book from the nearby table and squashed that deerfly.
I must admit, I didn't know what was happening. I thought I was a bad dog. I cringed. I am not saying but Mom is pretty sure I have been hit with hands before at my first home. She apologized for scaring me.
She wasn't mad at me. That is a relief. And I didn't get bitten by that bad fly.

I even got me a nice blue rabies tag to wear. Shoot, it even matches my name tag.
You see, I was here on a test drive. This home is in someplace called Hi-dee-ho. I came from a shelter far away in Why-o-ming.
So since my papers and rabies tag came today in the mail that makes me an official dopted.

Looks like I am here for the long haul. I have been here for 2 weeks and a day.
I have learned something else since my last list.
I have learned to go down all those stairs that go to a place called the basement. NewMom goes down there several times a day. I would stay at the top of the stairs and whine until I could see her coming back up again. I could hear her. The Schnauzers, especially Zoe, would zip right down those stairs with NewMom.
Well, a couple of days ago I summoned up enough courage and I made it down there too. NewMom was putting clothes into a machine thing and she was happy to see me. She was proud of me, I could tell. She watched me and talked to me. It is kinda dark and being a black dog she couldn't see me while I was sniffing around. It smelled good and I could tell there had been another dog going to the bathroom. I could tell one spot had been pretty recent too. But I was a good dog and didn't try anything dumb.

I have been in this home now for 10 days now.
I think I can list 10 things I have learned in those 10 days!

1. Dogs are welcome to come into the house here. In my other house, I wasn't allowed inside.

2. Dogs sleep inside at this house. NewMom is pretty sure I slept outside at the other house. I made myself comfortable outside the first couple of nights. She had to Make me come inside for bed.

3. There are soft pillow things called Dog Beds. I never knew about those before coming here. I don't use them, I am comfortable on the floor.

4. There are things called doggie cookies at this house. They are very tasty.

5. I learned I have to "sit" in order to get one of those doggie cookies.

6. I have learned that the people are not going to hurt me. Foster mom lady told NewMom she thought I had been hurt before. I am still leary of men. I am doing much better now.

7. I have learned about something called a TV. It makes scary noises and once I jumped back because a man's face was right there. I am doing better with the TV now.

8. I quickly learned where my food bowl is every morning at breakfast.

9. I have learned that when NewMom leaves the yard and says she will be right back, she is. I don't need to fret and whimper.

10. Finally, but I am still learning, I found out I am just the right height for NewMom to touch me. I walk along with her and she will scratch my head or pat me.

11. One more thing, a bonus, I have learned to fit into the pack of dogs here. I like it here, I am happy and I feel at home.

So on with Part II.
After I unload from the truck I find myself in a home with a wonderful big grassy yard. About the first thing I do is start sniffing and marking all the plants. Then I take a real good roll in the green grass. It had been awhile since I was able to do that.
Three dogs came out to meet me. They each gave me a good sniffing. I am accepted. I am ok with the bottom of the food chain. I sense that is where I am with the 3 dogs.
Then I was invited inside the house. That was scary! I just wouldn't go inside without the lady pleading and finally shoving me through the door!
Then I got nervous. I couldn't find Bubba. He was kinda my anchor you see. I went around and around looking for him. It was so hard to calm down.
Then a man came through the door. Now he was scary even though the other dogs weren't afraid of him. I didn't want to have anything to do with him. I was reminded that I had met him at the shelter. Well, that was different, I was close to my Bubba.
Pretty soon a young man came through the door. He was scary too. Same thing, the other dogs weren't afraid of him.
I spent a lot of time the first couple of day going around and around in the house. Just couldn't find Bubba. He wasn't outside either but outside had some tennis balls to chase. That would take my mind off of missing Bubba.
Now I have only been here a little over a week but I already have a nice new collar with my name and home phone number on a tag. I sure enjoyed it when NewMom put that collar on me.
The first couple of nights I had to be shoved into my crate for bed. Not anymore. I go right in when NewMom tells me "kennel".
I don't go around and around the house anymore. I relax and nap.
I am learning about the inside toys. There are little brown egg shaped squeaky toys. Those work real well for the people to throw down the hall and retrieve them. I love to squeak them but I don't tear them up.
The people praise me for retrieving the tennis balls. I bring them back and drop them at their feet. They throw the ball again and I retrieve the ball again. It is a fantastic game. And a good aerobic workout.
I sure don't like it when NewMom goes down all those stairs into the basement. I stay at the top of the stairs and whine until she starts back up.
I have learned to sit for a cookie. Wow, those are yummy things.
I am part of the pack now. The Schnauzer dogs and I follow NewMom just about everywhere she goes.
NewMom is beginning to think that I don't know how to bark! She hasn't heard me. The foster mom told her I do know how and to just wait. The little Schnauzer dog barks enough for all of us combined!
Well, that brings me up to date so far. This is a good place to live.
I sure hope Bubba gets a good home like me.

So here I am in a new home. A home with 3 other dogs, 3 people and a big yard with grass and tennis balls. I've been here a good week. I am beginning to catch on to the routine they follow.

You see, I was happy in my first home. I lived with my big buddy Bubba. But one day, we happily went for a ride with the man. He took us to a building and left us with some people there. He told them he had to give us up.
The people there were nice to us. They fed us and cleaned up after us. It wasn't home though. No grass, no tennis balls to retrieve. Once I got to go home with some of the nice shelter people. At their house I got to play outside with many other dogs. At night I learned to sleep in a crate. I showed them I was house broken. But all too soon it was back to the shelter.
People would come and look at all the dogs every now and then. Some of them would just go crazy with barking and jumping. They didn't "show" very well. Bubba and me tried to behave. But still we stayed at the shelter for a little over a month.
One day a man and a lady looked at me and I got to go for a short walk with them. I walked real nice on the leash. I didn't bark and go crazy like some of the other dogs. But still, they put me back in the kennel with Bubba. I stayed there for another week or so.
Then one day the shelter lady loaded me up in a crate in her SUV. We took a short ride. We met with the lady that had met me at the shelter.
I loaded up in a crate in the back of her pickup. It seemed like we drove and drove and drove. I was glad the pickup had a shell over the bed where I was in the crate, I was able to stay cooler. I still got car sick and lost some of my breakfast. It was a long, winding road.
Finally we pulled into a garage and I was able to get out of the crate and stretch my legs.

I will tell you about my new home in a little while. Right now I think I will see if someone will toss some tennis balls around for me in the yard.
