Arrival Story:
The story is the same if read about Zeus's sister, Mystic or brother Dante, if not, here it is. Zeus was a rescue from a guy and his unrespectable breeder sister in law. Zeus was one of 15 puppies. Zeus was one of the smaller males in the bunch. He seemed to have some kind of eye condition going on. His eyes were very cloudy but seemed he might be able to at least see shadows. My husband and I decided that we were going to take him along to the vets with the two we were going to take because no one was stepping up to the plate to get vet attention for these pups. Zeus was diagnosed with hookworm, roundworm and corneal ulcers. He was ointment for almost 3 weeks. Last Friday, I was calling the canine opthamologist to ask some questions. Well til we were done talking, I had an appt asap for Zeus and his sister Mystic. Zeus may have had corneal ulcers at one time, but now the diagnosis is different. He has borderline Micro-ophthalmous (small eyes), corneal fibrosis and pigmentary keratitis due to trauma or infection (mostly likely from infection). He is now on drops. He starts them twice a day tomorrow. She is hoping they will help clear up his corneas so she can get a better looks. He goes back in 6 weeks. If they arent cleared up any better, she is going to try and do an ultrasound which is $292 on top of the office visit of $119. To look at him, it seems like some of the cloudiness is slowly clearing up, hopefully when we increase the drops it will help better. He seems to be able to see when it is bright, that is why we are thinking he can possibly see shadows. He loves being outside and just playing with everyone. He is a very go lucky little guy. Bio:
Due to the large amount of vet bills, we are doing a sandwich fundraiser and also have a chip in account. If you feel you can contribute it would be greatly appreciated. If not that is fine, prayers and positive thoughts work very well also. We are just trying to give these wonderful pups a better life than when they started out. If Zeus would have gotten care when he was small, he would most likely have his sight.
