Arrival Story:
We were looking at the SPCA, resucues and the pound for several weeks, but were also checking out pet stores and breeders to see what the purebreds were like if we found one. Emma is a designer hybrid known as "Eskifon," and the store owner told us that he had requested the breed be bred (she's from the first and so far only litter) so that he could have "cute dogs to sell." By chance, we looked at her chart and she had been pooping pure blood for 2 days. The store owner said, "Oh, don't worry, that's normal in puppies." We bought her on the spot. It turned out that she had 2 parasites and a bacterial infection as well as being allergic to wheat! They were feeding her Eukneuba, an otherwise excellent food, but it is made out of wheat...BIG mistake. She was 11 weeks old when we got her, and we couldn't be happier. She has turned out to be the most perfect dog we could ever have dreamed of. As a side note, we recently learned that the pet store where we found her has been fined several times and actually has changed its name in order to stay in business.
