Arrival Story:
Hershey was the first dog we adopted after Cupcake passed away. My fiance saw her at the humane society and when they opened the cage for us to look at her, she jumped in his lap, sat down and wouldn't move !!! Sometimes the dog picks us !
None of the dogs mattered to him anymore (nor did I for that matter, so "daddy" got kicked out for being anything BUT a good guy to me or the dogs. Them he just ignored or scared by his constant yelling and swearing.
That is when Hershey became mom's "shoulder puppy".....
FROM HERSHEY'S MOM:
**Hershey passed away today, October 31, 2008 due to complications from Canine Pemphigus. She had the most severe form. More than half her fur fell out and her skin resembled an elephants skin. Then she lost bladder control, had difficulty breathing & was in great pain.

I clean the snow off your headstone, (mommie carved your name in it), everyday. I shake the snow off off the fall leaves, (artificial), that are put there. You loved fall leaves so much.
To not only lose you, but lose you so young is tearing me up inside. I am happy that you are not in pain anymore, but that is my only consolation. Every morning brings a reminder that you're not there, holding a tennis ball in your mouth, wagging your tail.

He came into the humane society, and of all the doggies, he asked to see me! I wanted him to be my daddy and keep me safe......so I jumped right in his lap and stayed there. He came to see me everyday when I had to have my surgery. I used to sleep on the back of his pillow and lick his face.
Then he slowly forgot me. He didn't play with me anymore. He started to scare me he yelled so much I would hide. But mommy kept me and my sis and my little brother spike safe. Daddy got mean to mommy. And mommy made him leave. It wasn't her fault. I am happy now because mommy isn't scared and I don't have to hide.
Please remember when you are scared, we are scared too. Some of us aren't big enough to protect you, but sometimes we try. You took us home. Don't forget us and keep us safe too!
