Watch This Dog Go Fishing — and Then Catch a Fish!

How do dogs fish? The same way they do a lot of things. With their teeth.

We just can’t stop talking about the dog days of summer! If there was ever an animal mascot for a season, it would have to be dogs for summer — there’s nothing better than imagining warm, sunny days, bright green grass, and clear blue skies in the company of a canine companion.

Which is why we love this video of a hound gone a-fishin’. Sure, there are lots of things that cats can do that dogs simply can’t, like perching elegantly on a narrow ledge, but this pup might give some felines a run for their money when he deftly spears a fish right out of the water!

It’s pretty amazing to watch him wait patiently for the fish to gather around him and then lunge forward and — to everyone’s astonishment — catch one. He’s like a cat.

One thing Fido didn’t know is that it’s a catch-and-release pond — oops! His humans try to do their best to save the fish, and even though the little guy puts up a good fight, it looks like it might have ended up as a nice little meal for the dog. Well, dogs are carnivores after all. It’s just the circle of life.
