That would depend on how long the puppies have been dead. Sometimes pups can die during the pregnancy, even early in pregnancy. When that happens, they begin to decompose and absorb back into the mother's body. Because we don't know when these puppies died, there is a risk attempting to deliver them normally, as this may cause infection to the mother, and possibly the mother's death. It can also affect the other puppies.

When dead pups are found during vet checks while the dog is pregnant, they are often surgically removed. If that was not an option, a c-section delivery is usually the best option.

Personally, I would take the live pup and mom to the vet ASAP. If there are dead pups still inside her, this can kill her.

Beyond that, remember that mom and pups should see a vet within 12 hours after delivery, even if everyone seems healthy.

Please find a low-cost spay/neuter clinic and have your sister's dog fixed after this pup is weaned. You should NOT be breeding!

Abby is very correct.
The Best thing to do for the mother dog is to take her to the vet asap.
There can be a dead pup inside, nothing is impossible.
I would make sure you tell the vet she had some still born pups as well, so he can give her some antibotics in case infection settles in. Make sure live pup is taking in as well. :)

Get he to the vet a.s.a.p.!
If there were complications & already a dead pup chances are there are more (esp. with a pittie) & they need to come out or it will kill mama.
