Why would puppy's muzzle swell, itch, and hair loss while on antibiotics?
My 12 week old min pin puppy had swollen eyes with discharge. The vet gave antibiotics, eye wash and eye ointment. The antibiotics lasted 12 days. The eyes look a lot better but still a little puffy around the edges and the hair around the eyes needs to grow back in. But her muzzle has gotten progressively worse. The muzzle is swollen, itchy, red spots and the hair is now falling out. Spreading steadily. I was told she might have been allergic. But she had not responded to allergy medicine (Benadryl). She will not eat the canine allergy medicine. What else could it be? Should the next step be antibiotic or steroid cream/ointment?

I would call the vet. If she is allergic, there are different antibiotics they can use. An allergy to meds can be very dangerous. Good Luck!

Has she been back to the vets???
If she were mine, the next step would be returning to the vets for further diagnois. If they can't come up with anything, I would be taking her to a canine dermatologist.
This issue sounds way beyond otc treatments, especially since she is so young.
