Why is my previously accident-free dog pooping in the house again AFTER a trip outside?
Zoe is a ~2 year old silky/mix rescue, I've had her 3 months. She was not housebroken when I got her, and she is now well crate-trained. When she's not in the crate and can't be supervised, she is gated in the kitchen. She's been making great progress with housebreaking. She hadn't had an accident in several weeks, and hasn't had a poop accident in probably 6+ weeks. On Tuesday, yesterday and again today she pooped in the kitchen, all times less than 30 minutes after a trip outside on leash in the yard, where she did pee. What gives? Nothing has changed in her diet or routine. Finicky eater, but regardless of when she eats, she always poops first thing in the morning, and again either before supper or before bed. These accidents both occurred within 30 minutes of a trip outside on leash in the yard to pee.

Sometimes things just change. There may be a new scent or something that has caught her attention and hasn't allowed her the time to go in the time allotted. Try giving her something to eat like her food or a treat when you first get up to stimulate her digestive system. It might just need a little jump start to get her system going. Think of it like your morning coffee.lol exercise also helps to move things along. Play some fetch and get her to run. Ever notice how some dogs run before they do their business? Helps get things moving. Consistency and patience is the best course. Just being housebroken in 6 weeks for being a 2 yr old is really wonderful. Keep up the good work and you will be happy with the results.

I agree, exercise is the key. Could be the cold weather and deep snow. Sometimes a shoveled place helps. Walk around and then stop at the shoveled place.
