why is my dog pacing the floors during the night he never used to do this

my dog is 14 years old. in the last couple weeks he has started pacing the flors at night and not sleeping.is there something serious going on with him?

Dieta

They tend to do this.
It also can be a sign that his bladder or need to go is increasing during the night.
You can take them outside or place a dog pant on them.

Maybe he had a bad dream a few nights ago-dogs do have dreams-and maybe it will just take him a bit to get over it. Talk to your vet about it.

Older dogs pace sometimes because of pain. I'd get him to the vet to make sure he's not got something going on like arthritis, which at his age is very likely.

Dogs tend to move around to "escape" from pain and so walking it off, or pacing is part of that behavior.

Odds are he has at least some minor arthritic condition going on at his age, and if he's not been diagnosed yet, you can get him some meds which will help ease any pain he's in. If he has been diagnosed, it's possible it's gotten worse or there is something else going on.
