Why has my dog started to throw up when kept in her dog crate while we are at work?
In the last 1 1/2 weeks, I have found my 5 mo old golden retriever's fur to be wet after spending about 2-3 hours along in her dog crate while we are at work. I know she does not enjoy being in there, as she barks at me while locking the door of the kennel. The "wet" on her neck, belly, paws and tail does not smell (so I'm guessing it is not urine, yet wouldn't vomit have a smell. There is no sign of any undigested food in her kennel (I'm thinking she may have re-eaten it -yuck!- while alone in her kennel). This seems to happen on a daily basis. We have tried to cut down on her water supply in the morning, to see if it helped--so far, not. Ginger has been part of our family since she was 7 weeks old. This 'wet' situation does not happen any other times (out of the kennel), as she is kept in the house. Her kennel is made for a 70 lb dog, and she weighs about 33 lbs,(ample room). She has been de-wormed and is current on her vaccinations.
Any advice would be appreciated!

This is just a guess. Is the liquid kinda slimy? I think she may be barking, drooling and panting a lot while you are away. Do you have some neighbors you could ask if they hear her barking? I had a Golden that would go crazy with barking while she was in the crate. She made puddles in the bottom of the crate and the metal door actually started to rust.
She was perfectly fine in the house. Completely trustworthy. I finally learned that and stopped putting her in the crate while we were away from home.
Is there an area, like a laundry room, that you could "test" her and confine her there instead of the crate? Might be worth a try. Maybe she would enjoy a little more space and wouldn't carry on so.
Good luck. Perhaps others will have some more ideas for you.

I second the drool! I groomed a golden today... he was beautiful and I put him into a crate to wait for his owner to pick him up. He was NOT barking. When the owner came he was soaking wet all down his neck and chest and both front legs. It was drool from his nervous panting.
