Why does my "chiweenie" appear to be nursing from stuffed dogs and whine? He is almost a year old.
We bought him when he was nine weeks old. He will chew up anything he can get his mouth on. But he only appears to nurse and whine with the stuffed dogs. Can anyone give me info on chiweenies and their behavior?

We had an animal do this with a blanket their whole life. It is just a security thing that makes them feel more comfortable. It is really nothing to worry about. Just looks kind of weird. they could out grow it in time also. Just keep the dog socialized and get them out as much as you can. That may make the dog more confident.

My Brendan, lab mix did this too his whole life, he lived to be eleven. he had 4 different big stuffed animals he did this with. we called it suckling. he would do it for like 20 minutes sometimes. i agree that is is some sort of security thing. feeling safe. nothing to worry about. never hurt him in anyway. he never tore up the animals either, they just got really dirty and needed to get laundered.
