When do Rough Collies Get their Long Adult Hair??

I recently adopted a puppy. He is Collie /Red Heeler mix (best guess) his markings look just like 'Lassie' with the addition of the little redish spots on his front legs (from the red heeler?)
My question is this When will His Adult coat come in? I can not tell if he will be rough, smooth, or cattle dog texture and I want to know when it should come in.
