WHAT WILL BE A POSSIBLE CONCERN FOR A SWOLLEN HEAD OF MY CHIHUAHUA DUE TO HARD BLOW BUT HAD NO CUT AND BLEEDING?

My 9 MOS. OLD, 4 LBS. CHIHUAHUA HAS A GOOSE-EGG LIKE SWELLING ON HER HEAD IMMEDIATELY AFTER HITTING HER HEAD HARD WHILE PLAYING WITH OTHER DOG IN THE HOUSE. LATER ON THAT DAY, BETWEEN HER EYES DOWN ON HER NOSE GOT SWOLLEN AS WELL. BUT SHE ACTS LIKE NOTHING HAPPENS. SHE STILL PLAY, BARK, EAT AND DRINKS.

She probably just has a hematoma, just like the welts people get when they break a blood vessel underneath the skin. My dog recently slipped an hit her chin. A big knot swelled up that later went away. She didn't act like anything was wrong. But it takes a lot for a dog to cry out in pain. They don't complain like people do.

ANOTHER THING THAT MAY BE OF CONCERN IS THAT CHIHUAHUAS HAVE A SOFT SPOT ON THEIR HEADS THAT DOESNT BECOME COMPLETLY HARD UNTIL THEY ARE AROUND 2 YEARS OF AGE. DONT KNOW HOW CLOSETHS BUMP IS TO THE TOP OF HER HEAD, BUT SHE IS JUST A BABY STILL, SO YOU NEED TO GET HER CHECKED OUT SOON.

If the swelling is going between her eyes and nose, that could be a sign of fluid or even blood under the surface.

This is a significant injury, and you need to take her to the vet as soon as you can.

More than likely, she will be okay, and it is a good sign that she's still alert and has an appetite.

However, you really must take her to the vet to have this evaluated. There is not much tissue around the bridge of the nose to swell, even with an injury, so it is always worrying when swelling like this is present.
