Some people just shouldn't have dogs or kids and this is a perfect example. This dog needs medical attention and I realize you are stuck in the middle but it wouldn't hurt to call Animal Control in your area and see what they say.

This is animal neglect & cruelty & it is AGAINST THE LAW!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, you can help the dog feel better by calling the police, your local humane society or animal control.
PLEASE do so!!!
It is the right thing to do because that dog is SUFFERING & in GREAT PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please don't turn your back on this suffering when the dog can't help itself...Make the call.

It is cruel and against the law to not provide your animal with proper medical care. "Wasting" money on this dog's recovery could just save your friend's husband from jail!

It's not "wasting" money when there is a medical condition that needs treating. It's an outrage that someone will sit idly by and let this dog suffer with a broken bone. What her husband is doing is a crime, you know.

I know what you can do. You can break her husbands arm and tell him that it's a "waste of money for him to go to the hospital so he has to let it heal on its own." Seriously, this is animal cruelty and neglect. If your friend cared about the dog, she'd go against her husbands wishes; all possible religious believes about "women obeying men" (some people still believe this, I'm guessing she does?) and take the dog to the vet ASAP. Believe it or not, a broken tail can be painful. Especially considering they wag it. If she doesn't take the dog, I'd suggest calling your local humane society or animal control. Because, as others have pointed out, this is neglect and it IS against the law.

First, how did the dog break it's tail?

Second tell your friend to take the dog to the vet. Her husband will get over it and if he doesn't then tell him not to let the door hit him in the butt on the way out.

A broken bone is not something that should be ignored. Broken blood vessels can cause blood clots to form, traveling to the brain or heart and subsequently causing seizures, strokes or a heart attack.

This is severe animal neglect, please call the humane society!!

If they cannot afford medical treatment for their dog then it should be put in a home that can and will provide proper care, love and attention. This is a member of their family, not a thing!

My dog Howie has a permanently bowed leg because the neglectful family that dumped him off at a rescue because he was getting old did not have a leg injury treated. He will now have to deal with arthritis for the rest of his life!
