WHY? WHY do you want to cause your dog suffering and PAY for it to boot?
My GSPs tails are docked, but for a HEALTH reason, not style. GSPs have a habit of wagging tails very hard while working game in the brush. They injure their tails and can have complications and need amputations as adults if not docked as pups.
Why do dogs NEED theis ears clipped? Are there health reasons?

Ears are cropped when dog's are very young puppies. It is senseless. They have beautiful ears, leave them alone.

That said, if you must crop ears you must have a vet do it or you could cause infection or even kill your dog. This isn't a do it yourself project. Call the vet they can tell you the cost.

However, it would be best not to crop. Not only do the flaps protect the dog’s ears. Many people already have the wrong idea about pits; there is no reason to make them look like fighting dogs instead of the friendly companions they are meant to be.

Dieta

I have to tend to agree somewhat.
For this breed that would just be a cosmetic thing to make the dog look more alert, more for the looks, and some of the pitbull ring fighters do it so the ear are not bitten and ripped off during a fight.(which of course is illegal and I am sure you are just wanting the dog to look different)
Your dog would also benefit from not having it done because the ear folded over will keep the ear cleaner and you don't have to worry so much about ear infections.
They have cute ears like that for a reason.

You'll need to ask your vet. The cost can vary from what I understand.

Why in the world would you want to butcher your dogs ears?
The dogs were born with naturally floppy ears and with the floppy ears comes a softer look.
So many people have a hang up about pits as it is, why would you want to make the dog look harsher and turn people off?
If it's an ego thing on your part--go get some serious piercing or tattooing and leave the dog the way Mother Nature designed him.
I work with a guy who had his Doberman's ears cropped and I spent a week begging him not to do it. All he kept saying to me is, "I've got too. I've got too".
I knew exactly what he meant, but I was so pissed that he didn't have the balls to be man enough not to.
He lives in a seriously rough neighborhood and that's what people do to their pits and dobbie's. It's all about image. Not about what's right for the dog, it's about them and their image.

I'm agreeing with the majority of the people/dogs here. Please leave your dog's ears the way they are. My friend has a red nose pit and her ears are absolutely adorable they way they are (and she still looks pretty intimidating). My friend's uncle, however, has a pit , and I would bet anything that he cropped her ears himself, or had a friend do it for him. She looks absolutely miserable too. :(
