What is the BEST sedative for flying 4+ hours? Francke's traveling w/ me to Chicago TOMORROW! (the vet's didn't work)

I just need something that will work for Francke, she's high anxiety, and hasn't adapted well (or for very long) to her carrier I bought for her flight. PLEASE HELP!

Ive flown many dogs and never have given sedation. I think its against the policy of the airlines also.

Yeah, most airlines will not allow a sedated dog onboard. Sedating a dog is actually not a very good idea because a lot of times they become extremely disoriented, which compounds any anxiety they were already experiencing.

How long ago did you buy her crate? She may not have had long enough to adjust. Four hours is not that long, so she may just need to tough it out. Just make sure that you're prepared to clean her up once you claim her (in case she poops or pees during the flight) and give her lots of love once you're to your destination. She may act overstimulated or stressed. My suggestion for this would be to put her in a room away from loud noises, lots of people, other animals, etc and pet her and play with her. Bring her favorite blanket, toys, pillow, or whatever she has so she has something comforting. She'll be okay.

most airlines will not let you sedate an animal. you just need to give him a toy and comfy blanket to try and make him comfortable. sorry. good luck.

I agree with the previous posters. Dogs shouldn't be sedated when they fly. ESPECIALLY brachycephalic dogs like the Pug. It's just too dangerous.

Have a great flight and good luck.
