A Maltese, they have a good temperament, and adapt well to any life style but don't we already have enough dogs alive that end up in shelters were they are put to sleep if they don't get adopted quickly enough unless you can assure ALL the pups great forever homes don't breed

What is your reasoning for breeding your dog? Seriously, what about your dog makes it special enough to be used to create more dogs when the shelters are filled to overflowing and dogs are dying every single day due to a lack of homes for them.
Before you consider breeding please at least visit your local shelters and take a good look at the dogs there, many of them Shih Tzus or Shih Tzu mixes. Look into their eyes and see the sadness and abandonment in those eyes...the dogs YOU create may well be the next ones sitting in that shelter waiting.
If you are breeding because you honestly want another dog, please consider saving a life and adopting one of the already lost ones. Each dog YOU create will likely cause the death of one of those waiting for a new home. Do you really want to live with that knowledge?
While there is still a time and a place for breeding, done with a purpose with health cleared dogs, creating mixed breeds just to have more dogs enter the world is not okay.
If you even need to ask, then the answer is NONE!!! Leave breeding to responsible breeders who do it to maintain & improve breeds, not to "just let her have a litter" or any other excuse that leads to more mixed breed pups.
Is this a joke? o.0
Obviously, the only dog they should be bred to is a dog of the *same* breed. And even then only if they have all health screenings and breeding evaluations of some sort done. If you want a mix breed, go rescue one! There are TONS of Shih Tzu mixes in shelters already.
Please, Spay or neuter your shih tzu. There is no reason to breed him/her.
