What could cause my dog (australian shepherd) to have a twitch or muscle spasm while awake and standing?

It happens every 3-4 seconds and it has been going on for about 30 min. When she is in a sit position it looks as if she is about to get up but it's just the spasm. it doesn't seem to bother her but she is aware of what is going on. Any ideas?
