It depends of the shelter like for example in the humane society you must be 16 but the shelter im volunteering in im not sure the age but im 13.

* At the Local Shelter near us in TEXAS...they let High School Students Volunteer...BUT...YES ! YEW need to CONTACT the Shelter & ASK FIRST just to make sure...;- }

You will have to check with the rules of each center. They may have rules set by the state, or it may depend on their insurance in what you may have to do to work there.

I think that depends on where you live. You can contact your local shelter and ask them what their policies are for minors volunteering at their shelter. Good Luck!
