What age do boxers go into heat?

I am a breeder and I think my 7 mo. old boxer is in heat? Is this possible? How can I tell?

To answer your question, yes this is the usual time for the first heat. If she has vaginal swelling and is bleeding, she is in heat. (Though heats can vary from dog to dog...some don't bleed noticeably.) This is does NOT mean it's alright to breed her at this age.

This is very basic information your asking for. May I suggest puting any breeding plans on hold until you've learned the ins and outs of responsible breeding, and of dogs? I'm a breeder-in-training, and have been studying breeding for more than three years now. I'm not anywhere near having all of the knowledge I need yet. There's so much you've just got to know before even planning a breeding.
Here's an article I made about becoming a breeder:

You are a breeder but don't know signs of heat?...That seems odd.

I have to agree...if you are a "breeder" you should already know these things.

If you're a breeder thats stuff you should already know. If you don't know that i honestly don't think you should be breeding!

Dieta

you should spay her now.
That is a good age to spay and neuter dogs.

The signs of heat are very obvious... even a novice breeder should know them, so we are expecting YOU to look it up and familiarize yourself before you do something REALLY stupid as a "breeder". Don't forget, you need to do proper clearances AFTER she is two years old and BEFORE she is bred... the most important with a boxer being heart testing... read up on that while you are studying the signs of heat. Don't forget hips and elbows and eye clearances while you are at it.

Daisy ( In Loving Memory)

I suppose all things are possible, however as a breeder you should know the answer to this question as well as many more. I will say seven months is a GREAT age for spay/ neutering....think that is a possibility for you? I would strongly suggest it for the health and saftey of your boxer....seems like that would best. Good Luck!

This question has to be a joke. This is like saying I am a fireman but I don't know how to put out fires. I am really praying for the boxer breed.
