well your question kind of got cut off here so i will just guess on what you are wanting to know. When ever i bring a new pup in, i make sure i never leave the pup with the older dog unsupervised for a couple of weeks. I also try to make sure i pay extra attention to the older dogs so they dont get jealous of the new puppy. I take them for extra walks or just comb them. Best of luck hope this was what you wanted to know.

Snickers

Bring home something with the puppies scent first.

Have them meet on neutral ground.

Don't hold either back with the leash. Walk them a little together.

Expect the dog to disipline the puppy once and a while - a bark or growl is normal - let it go. Momma dog would do the same.

Don't expect your dog to share toys or food well.

Never leave puppy unsupervised, use a crate.

Katie

Hi there!
Katie, who turned 2 in April, has a new little "brother," Rupert, who is about 4 months old. When we rescued him, we brought Katie to meet him in neutral territory, off-leash, and let them interact for over an hour before making the decision to adopt. Both our trainer and our vet advised getting a male pup (soon to be neutered, of course!), because two females in the same house, even though both spayed, can have behavioral issues with each other.

Katie is a bossy, but loving, big sister to him. She disciplines him just like a mother dog; e.g., if he tries to jump on the couch, she growls and gently grabs his face (her jaws open over his snout, which looks scary but is actually fine, in the wonderful world of dog behavior!)

If your dog is bossy, that's OK - he/she will need to establish rank with the puppy. Don't rescue the pup every time, but do separate them if they're getting too rambunctious. We tell Katie and Rupert to settle down, then put them outside if needed.
